MY PROBLEM IS WITH THE SALES AND MANAGEMENT OF THIS DEALER. MY SALESMAN TOMMY FOULS WAS VERY NICE BEFORE AND DURING THE SALE. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE SALE WAS OVER AND WE HAD QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FINANCE, WE EXPLAINED THAT THE PAYMENTS WERE TO HIGH AND MR. FOULES SAID HE WOULD TALK TO THE MGT.AND THEY WILL GET IT DOWN. WELL THAT DID'T HAPPEN, HE OFFFERED US A $500.00 REFUND TO PUT TOWARD THE PAYMENT. WE DIDN'T LIKE IT BUT SAID OK. EVEY TIME I CALLED TO SEE WHEN WE WERE GETTING THE $500.00 WE GOT A BS STORY. THE LAST TIME I SPOKE TO MR. FOULS HE SAID THE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD GIVE US SOME FREE OIL CHANGES INSTEAD OF THE $500.00, I TOLD HIM I WASN'T GOING TO DRIVE 45 MIN. EACH WAY FOR A LOUSY OIL CHANGE.MR.FOULS SAID HE WAS WORKING OF US AND TALK TO HIS MANAGER AGAIN AND CALL ME BACK. THAT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO, NOT A WORD.DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MATTHEWS-CURRIE FORD. Love the visibility, ease of getting in and out, and storage capacity. Back seats easy to fold and go completely flat. Passengers comment on good leg room in front and back. Drawback: cabin noise on highways.

I'm going to miss the Blueberry!

I purchased this vehicle in 2008, it was 3 years old with 30k miles, traded it at 138k. (It's blue; thus the name "Blueberry). Even at 11 years old this vehicle ran great! I never had any problems with it; always got me where I needed to be. Handled perfectly in all road conditions. Economical on gas. Easy for me to get in and out of, but my husband, who is 6'4" had a bit of difficulty. He was always cramped when driving it with those long legs! Great for loading groceries. Plenty of room in the back, if more was needed we just put the seats down. Being an '05 it didn't have the technology of newer vehicles, but it suited my purpose. I did get spoiled with the heated seats, heated mirrors and wipers! Also enjoyed the 6 cd player and it even had a cassette player. Great sound system. Heat and air never failed. A comfortable vehicle for trips. I only traded because I wanted something newer.

Love my Tuson

My wife and I both own Tusons 2005&2011 and we both love them.We have had no issues other than normal Maintenance (Battery,Tires,Oil changes,Tune ups)The 2005 just turned over 100,000 miles and is still going strong. In 2010 I hit and killed 3 deer and I did not get a scratch !! Everything during the crash did what it was designed to do.I did not have any problems getting parts (Grill, both head lights, radiator ,fog lights both front fenders and a door skin to repair the $5000.00 in damages.I would buy another One in a heart beat

This car rides and handles like a luxury vehicle, has superior technology for the price, and has been one of the most reliable and dependable cars I've owned. I've had the car for 11 years and 90,000 miles and don't want to let it go. The interior amenities are exceedingly well engineered for comfort and convenience. In fact I have had only two complaints: the original tires were junk and didn't last even 20,000 miles. And the road noise is excessive. Excellent suspension. I paid $20,000 and it has recently been appraised for $5,000 for sale to a private party. Only $15,000 depreciation over 11 years. Hyundai is an exceptional company and manufactures an exceptional automobile.

Best car I've ever owned !

I bought my 2005 Tucson in June 2006 from CARMAX and paid about $16,000 with about 21,000 miles on it. I bought it for the cargo space. I was a bit concerned about a 4 cyl since my husband and I live in the mountains of North Georgia with some serious roads and hills. However, our concerns have never been realized in that this car can hold its own against many other more expensive cars. It takes to the snow with the front wheel drive like no rear wheel drive car can. I did buy chains but only use them when it's really heavy wet snow. Otherwise this car just goes and goes. The mileage is not the greatest and that really is the only flaw. This car now has 78.984 miles on it and has only had regular 3,000 mile oil changes. I have never even had to replace any kind of light bulb ! The back seats stay down most of the time to maximize cargo space. I used it as my pick up truck until my recently purchased Chevy 04 Silverado became my official pick up truck. The cargo space behind the rear seats when up, is poor but then I never have the seats up anyway. The dash board plastics have held up unbelievably well and none of the print to name the items has worn off...not even on the electric windows. The ESC performs beautifully and was a standard installation long before other car makers even offered it ! Tucson was ahead of its time. The seats have worn well although I put seat covers on just after I bought the car. The fact that the back window opens independently of the bottom portion is the envy of neighbors who have SUVs without this option. I can just open the window, reach in the back and pull something out without having to open the whole back door. My Tucson may not be worth much in resale but given how well its performed to date, there is no way I would sell it ! I read about all the recalls on new cars and just smile. No recalls on my Tucson. I just love it !!!

Going great at 165k

I have the Tucson with the 4cyl, FWD living in a snowy town in the northeast. It lacks acceleration and doesn't have a lot of frills. But it has held up well. No major issues except a transmission repair that cost about $500 in 2013. It had a surprising amount of cargo room. I was able to transport treadmills, large assembled 6 drawer dresser, a futon and many more. Hoping to get another 5 more years out of it

I bought this car when it was only 2yrs old. After 3 months, the engine light came on. I went to different mechanics including the dealer and all said front catalyst converter needs changed. I spent $1200 to fix it. A week after that, the engine light came back on, this time the rear catalyst converter needed changed, so another $1200 needs spent. I couldn't even pass emission test. Another problem is the radiator fan. I'm driving on the freeway and i see smoke coming from the engine, this time it's radiator fan, $500 and to make the matters worse, most parts have to be bought from the dealer and it's damn expensive. Now it's the front brakes that needs fixed. Most interior parts breaks.

LX 2.7L V6 4WD. I have 63K miles on the vehicle as of today. Just replaced the rear brake pads. Change the oil once per year. Vehicle is still running fine with no problems. I still enjoy driving it. This was a good value for the money. During the 10 years, there were only 3 main issues. The trans-axle leaking oil, The battery going dead randomly, and the intermittent door locks is ongoing.

I'm going to miss you.

Durable, reliable and fun. First car I ever had and I loved it. I put that thing down ATV trails and logging routes and it took it like a champ. Quick pick-up, quiet, and very sound-proof. Surprising room when seats folded down. It lacked superior gas milage, but averaging at about 20 mpg, it wasn't too bad. Also wasn't impressed when the back window fell off into my hands after the hinges somehow corroded. Rusting was a problem inside back door. I installed an after market sound system (dash stereo, all 4 speakers and a subwoofer). Stereo installation was a pain in the you know what, but the speakers and sub wired with incredible ease. Got me where I needed to go and had fun doing it.

LX 2.7L V6 4WD vehicle has been running fine. I only have 48K miles on the vehicle. I just replaced the front brake pads. I change the oil once per year. Hard to believe, but I enjoy this SUV more and more with each passing year. I like this original body style more than the new Tucson design. It has better visibility and allows less sun on your face. Also, I prefer a V6 engine. It still has more torque than the new Turbo 4 cylinder engines.

I love my Tucson, and I have not had any issues until I brought it in back in August for its 60,000 mile warranty check up, and Now randomly my engine just shuts off while driving, this is scary. I have read up on many forrums that this is a problem that occurs in the 2005 Tucson. Shouldn't there be a recall???? This is dangerous!

Since the last 5 year review, have solved a few issues. #1) Removing the interior dome lights have solved the battery going dead problem. Maybe its related to the automatic lamp dimmer circuit which activates when you close the door. #2) The trans-axle has not leaked again, and is working fine since repaired a year ago. #3) The door remotes are still intermittent, but I can live with that. #4) Replaced the tires with Kumho tires, and must say they ride nice. #5) I have confidence once again in the vehicle, and now feel the Purchase was worth it.

Bought the 05 Tucson in October and so far so good. The exterior is flashy and the interior isn't half bad either. the small v6 is good on gas and still has the pep that it should. Gear timing could be spaced a little more but i use the manual power shifter most of the time anyway. Good stock 6 speaker sound system with good midrange. Seat adjustment knobs are a little funny to play with; haven't quite found that perfect setting. 6 airbags are wonderful and give me peace of mind. Decent MPG. A great little sport cross for the price. I am impressed.

Strong buy. Love my blue Tucson!

The first Tucson I bought was a 2006 gls 0 miles and I loved it! Then gave it to my mom and bought a BMW 325i 2006 after taking care of the bimmer and dealing with "way to expensive" service and maintenance fee decided to sell it and I did. I feel so much better now I bought an used 2005 Hyundai Tucson gls 4wd and I love it! I feel so good driving my car and going to Mexico 650 miles roundtrip from Las Vegas! With 70,000 miles on it it drives and feel like new. I would definitely buy another one and definitely recommend it to family and friends and you guys! Peace of mind, Hyundai never let me down!

Battery will go dead at infrequent random times. I installed a new battery, but same problem. Dealer has no idea how to fix it. The trans-axle began to leak oil and make a burning smell. The dealer repaired it alright. Front tires are already worn out at 38k miles. The door remote control function is intermittent. I find myself shifting in manual mode most of the time, to obtain the most power and gas mileage. Also, the warranty may appear good at first, but the required maintenance schedules should be reviewed before buying. Would I buy this vehicle again? I don't think so. Mostly because of the battery issue.

I've come to enjoy this buggy more and more. It's an adult car! Even the back seat is adjustable for adults. You set the controls and it does what you'd expect. ESP off and 4 Wheel lock work up to 25 mph then go to normal safety mode. When you're bogged down below 25 it kicks back in.. Great bad weather car!

Still love this car, no problems 4.5 yrs later. Also was the least inexpensive & best bang for the buck when I bought it new vs CR-V, RAV4, X3, Escape and the only one of them that had all elements V6, 4wd, ESP, 6 airbags, Sunroof, Leather Heated Seats, and a 5yr Bumper to Bumper. I was worried at time about investing in a Hyundai but now believe they are a solid value company for cars under $30k. What Nissan and Toyota used to be 20 yrs ago! The 4wd & ease of driving in snow/rain has been fantastic, I will never go back to 2wd. Perfect utility car for daily commuting, running around with the kids to soccer & LL on weekends, and camping. I expect 10 yrs out of this car easy. Fun Ride

I absolutely love this car! I bought it almost two years ago and I can't wait to upgrade and get the new Tuscon! The design is sleek and the size is perfect for a family of 4, with a lot of storage space in the back. I've only had to complete basic maintenance. The interior design isn't a 10, but it serves it's purpose. My mother in law drove my car (she travels a lot and gets rental cars fairly often) and she loves my car compared to many others that she's driven.

The 2.0L GL is my wife's daily driver for the past 4+ yrs. Other than regular maintenance, no major issues. We've put 85,000km on the car, incl. a couple of big road trips to the east coast. Gas mileage? 20/25 city/hwy is respectable for this class. For the price? This car has turned out to be great value.

I traded in a 1999 Pathfinder for this used 2005 Tucson. So far it does most of what I expected it to do. I did loose some cargo and tow capacity with the trade, but the extra MPG makes up for it. It could have more road handling. You don't want to push it too hard into the corners. The stock stereo had to go. I couldn't hear it on the freeway if all the windows were down. The tie downs in the back could be a bit stronger or moved off of the cover.

When I purchased the Tuscan, I was looking at the Santefee.... I was drawn to the Tuscan for more leg room ... (I am 6'3") I have enjoyed the comfort up front, but the mpg is not that good. I have taken it thru snow, responded well, I have taken it on vacations, good too. I have never had to replace anything other than the drive belt. This car is really a reliable vehicle. It just stinks when it comes to mpg.

This is a great truck. It meets my needs for something fun to drive, comfortable, and with a good basic sound system. It meets my husband's needs for something that looks "rugged" that can handle hauling all of our camping equipment for our trips to the North Shore. It handled great through the MN winter and is a fun truck to zip around in.

Bought new and driving for almost 4 years - no breakdowns till date - running smooth. Poor mileage (19-20 mpg)- time to replace the stock tires (39,000 - guess not bad). Car used to pull towards right - aligned the wheels twice (almost everytime during the scheduled service) - they can't figure out why it's pulling like that - now they're saying it could be due to worn out tires - but the problem started after 20k miles.. I am going to put Michelin on it next week and balance the wheels once again - will see if the problem still persists. Otherwise a great car - my first car was a sonata which also did great for 5 years.. I hope Tuscon also does well in the coming years!

I've driven 05 Tucson for 4+ years now, and I've been very happy. So far just changing wears and tears like tires, breaks, oils, wipers, belts, etc. No major problems at all so far after 71,000 miles. My old Volvo usually cost me annually $2-3000 for major repairs with constant halts on highways. Happy to get rid of it. Living in East coast, went through a few big snow storms, and no problems at all with 2WD(front), and ETS always helped me staying on the road. I also took many long trips to Chicago, Main, Virginia, etc, and very comfortable with 5 people in the car with luggage. I also used this car a lot for moving, excellent when frnt&rear seats completely go plat, lots of cargo space.

Bought a Tucson for female, working college student who commutes. Nothing but TROUBLE. Year 1 -it began flashing power lights, and dying on her while driving. Then began having dead batteries randomly. Hyundai Service refused to replace the battery until 2 year warranty was up so we had to PAY for one. Also dead if it isn't driven for several days. Something in the elec system is pulling juice during non- running time but they can't find it and have now given up. We will replace it with one she can be secure and safe driving (and not driving). SKIP THIS MODEL TUCSON!!!

We bought our Hyundai Tucson to get better gas mileage. The sticker said "20-26 mpg" I drive 12 miles to work on the highway, not stop and go. I get 19 mpg. I talked with the salesman and the service department, at first the salesman said they would check it and tune it up. When I called to set up an appointment I was told they could not help my car,and I couldn't count on those numbers. I talked with the salesman again and this time he said the estimated gas mileage is 20-23, not 23-26". Why are the numbers different???? Why are these numbers put on cars if they are not true??? That's false advertising!!!. I had a Lincoln Town Car that got 20mpg driving 70 mph, I drive 60-65 and get 19.

This is the best car ever.

I got to tell you three episodes. First, there was snow storm in New York 2005 Winter. This car was the only one which could go up in the corner of long island expressway. I was so impressed. Second, I had car accident in which the other car hit my car as right angle. Of course, a lot damage, however, I drove the car to the auto shop and it came back without any problem. Third, I moved to VA by myself with this car. I rent trailer twice and I moved small stuffs with this one. I was so amazed with the capacity.

I love my car, though it looks like a rhinoceros. Lots of interior room, great Heat & A/C. Smooth, quiet ride. Inexpensive enough that I am not paranoid about keeping in shiny. Good automobile for a gal looking for a SUV.

I enjoyed the look of this vehicle and warranty, very smooth ride. I only had the Tuscon for three weeks when it would die while driving it. Thank goodness for the warranty. I don't think I would purchase again. The Tuscon does not hold its value and not worth what I paid for it.

I'm in my mid 40s & I have owned many cars over the past 25 years. This Tucson is by far the best vehicle that I've ever had the pleasure to drive. I currently own a 2005 Toyota Matrix AWD, too. The Toyota is not in the same class as the Hyundai. I have no interest in driving the Toyota if the Hyundai Tucson is available. The problem is my entire family chooses the Tucson if they need to go anywhere. The car is very reliable, great in ice & snow, has very good visibility, plush & supportive seating, good power, smooth & comfortable ride, the sound system is second to none - What else can I say?

Great all round SUV

I like the Tucson. Have 33K on it and have not had a single mechanical problem. Stock tires gave out at 25K. Excellent in wet weather and snow- better than my GMC Yukon. Great for my wife since the 4x4 just kicks in when needed. Average 22mpg, best I ever got was 25mpg on a trip. Comfortable for short trips and long ones also. Took on a 1500 mile trip to Canada- did great. Would recommend.

Only if hell freezes over will I ever buy another Hyundai. I purchased this vehicle new and the sales person knew that my work required a lot of travel. I bought it and like most people it was for the warranty, However I have learned buyer beware on that. the Maintenance schedule and cost are ridiculous, the mpg sucks. I have had to purchase two sets of tires because of wear, alignments were done each time. the ESP Light comes on and goes off whenever it likes, none of the Hyundai mechanics can seem to figure it out. the car has spent more time in the garage than on the road in my book. and hyundia usa customer service likes to pass the buck whenever possible.

I'd recommend Hyundai

Very dependable and peppy - great interior features design. If the Santa Fe would have had better styling at the time, I would have enjoyed the extra cargo space. But, this has been a great vehicle to date!

I have been driving 2005 Tucson GL for 2 and a half years now, and it has been great experience! Just a regular oil changes and brake pads after 40,000, but I think it's becasue of hilly areas that we're in. We (my wife and I) drove it around quite a bit, to Chicago to Virginia, and it's really fun to drive both city and highway. It's still quiet, and has lots of room. I was so please with lots of space (both rear seats and a passenger side seat can be completely folded) when I moved after the purchase. Mine is a front wheel drive, but it was quite fun to drive on snowy roads, especially electric stability system was great when I drove the hilly drive ways.

We have had this SUV for 37K miles and 3 years. An excellent choice - we are now buying a new Hyundai Santa Fe. You get so much more for your money, and the quality is similar to Toyota or Honda. I know because I really checked this out. This car has been a really solid performer and reliable - we will keep in the family instead of selling it. for those who complain about the car, you need to take care of anything mechanical, and of course you need to compare to others in the class.

I love my Tucson!

I absolutely love this car! It handles great in the snow and has a really smooth ride in all kinds of weather. I love all of the safety features that come standard with this car and it rides better than comparable Hondas. You get a lot for the money. To me it seems like it's worth twice what I paid. The only problem I've had is that a sensor switch went and had to be replaced and I also need to have my radio/cd player replaced. But it's under warranty, so that's OK.

Steers like a truck. Transmission shifts to many times, when not needed! Poor gas mileage. Large blind spot in rear side windows. Black fender molding chips easily and shows white.

Of all the vehicles I have owned since the early 70's, this is BY FAR the worst. After having trouble with my previous car, I bought the Tucson soley based on it's warranty. What I got was HORRIBLE MPG, 8-12 City with a best of 17 Hwy. You'd think for $23G you'd get a power seat, but no, I get seat bottoms an 1.5" shorter than normal to give the illusion of more leg room and my back hurts due to no lumbar support. The supposed 200W stereo sounds like a tin can.

I've had the Tuc for a year and 7 months/18,500 miles now. I do like the car overall. The main problem is GAS MILEAGE. Check a few Tucson forums and you will find this is a major complaint. I get about 14mpg city! That is unacceptable. Hyundai has to address this, there IS a problem. I've also had a couple problems(A/C system almost caught fire) that required dealer attention. Other than this, I really enjoy the Tucson. Great looking, inside is very nice and well thought out, & all the standard safety features make this a great value Also, if you run into snow where you live, get the AWD. I wish I did now. PS to some other posters-I don't think the sideview mirrors are heated.

Very dissapointing gas mileage, not 22 MPG as quoted, more like 17 MPG. Engine performance leave much to be desired, always doggin. This vehicle did not hold it's value, purchased at $18,7k, at trade only worth 10k (and I shopped it around)!

At first I enjoyed the vechile, until the interior parts such as the ashtray (broke 2 times) the sunglass holder broke. I have also had ongoing fuel system problems with leaks that the dealer can never seem to fix and keeps giving it back broken. I am not happy with the fit and finish of the vechile I think they could have used better material. But i guess you get what you pay for. But i will have to definatly say never buy a vechile from the Atlantic Automall in West Islip. Terrible Service, terrible sales, they told me they were going to include a better warranty on the vechile. I ended up paying for it without even knowing. Not happy. I guess i bought a lemon

Traded in my 2002 Accent for it. Very good ride, not too rough, not too soft. Has right amount of "road feel" in steering. Plenty of room for cargo.
