Great truck. Smooth ride, very dependable, has held up very well even if it's to long to fit in my garage. Have had a few minor issues, but nothing serious. My truck has bern used in all capacities, construction, towing, mountains, beaches, commuting and kid hauling. Ford makes a good product. Downside is mpg...I average 16 but drive on the highway a lot....otherwise 11-12 in town. But it's a big vehicle with a 5.4 Triton...it's not an economy car!

I am the second owner of this truck. So far (158,0000 miles) great 4 wheel drive performance, good power, comfortable. Cloth seats wore out fast. a set of Wet Okole seat covers were in order. The front component of the 4 wheel drive went out because of a poorly designed vacuum part. I was able to fix it all myself in my garage for under $500.00. All in all, this has been a great truck.

Always check the vehicle over good and do really good car fax reports. This truck has been awesome it's a beast, drives great, pulls great and is very dependable. I bought the truck with 163,000 miles and now it has 229,000 miles on it motor good, trans good and the interior also good but My only concern is I think the rear ended maybe going out, but this far I am really happy with the truck.

I had a ford ranger growing up and liked it, I had a couple of dodges and decided that I would try a ford supercrew I mean it's been the best selling truck for ever. It was a bad decision. First of all the good, I loved the room in the back seat also the air vents I loved how you could point them right at you. The gas mileage was a little better. Now for the bad, first things first the front seats are terrible!!! Killed my back!! So uncomfortable!! It wasn't as wide as the dodges. The bed is too short trying to work construction with it. The 4 wheel drive didn't work very good. It had so many little problems!! The thing that made me sell it was when I was on vacation and the transmission started going out on me and that was it. I never could trust this truck. So I went back to a dodge and am so glad!! That truck was a piece of crap!! Don't get one, run away!! This was all under 90, 000 miles.

Transmission issues at 170000 truck was running perfect and then one day the transmission just went out . Fluid's word checked regularly and failed regular oil changes haven't had any other issues except with the oil filter . But the transmission on this truck is known for going out otherwise I love my truck

I have logged over 202 thousand miles on this truck since it was bought used in January of 2007. Major repairs: none. Minor repairs: replaced EGR valve at ~175k miles, other than that, it has been just regukar, routine maintenance. My only complaint is the quality of the cloth seats in this vehicle, they easily trap dirt and dust, causing them to stain if so much as a bottle with condensation on the outside is placed in the seat.

This is a worthless truck. They saw this sucker coming a mile away. I bought this truck 5 months ago and have had it in the shop multiple times for issues. Now the is down and they want $500 to see why it went bad or they want $7000 to replace the engine. I wish I had been able to see these reviews prior to buying the truck or I would have bought a junker, they last longer. Long Mcarthur Ford is not concerned they sold me a lemon they knew they did, I was just the unfortunate sucker who got it. Now I have my very first nice newer vehicle I have ever bought as an $11,000 lawn ornament. I guess back to the bargain basement for me.

I bought this truck mid-summer 2014, It had 75k miles on it and was babied by the one owner. I bought it with a 6" suspension lift on 35' Nitto trail grapplers. I had a 2009 Avalanche prior to this and so far I'm liking the Ford better. The truck runs great with the big lift and tires and has no problem getting into gear. My gas mileage is on average 8-10. It's expensive but I knew what I was getting into. From everything I have read, people have had many problems with the 5.4. So far I haven't had any problems, but the ticking noise coming from the engine is only getting louder every oil change. I sure hope she doesn't have any major problems down the road

I have the short bed version of this package. First off the truck does its job as long as you don't abuse it. The clicking noise that is often heard is the cam phaser. It is a $2700.00 dollar repair and it will not stop the clicking noise (as admitted by Ford) the noise may stop for up to two weeks but will continue indefinitely after that. The only way to get it to stop is to purchase what is called the "Cam Phaser Lockout Kit" which is $700.00. I have put 80K miles on the truck and it has clicked since day one. have not had an issue with it truck runs good. Only other problems were the tensioner and the fuel pump module. which is a recall item no discount from ford $69.00 bad engineering.

This is my second F150 I've owned and I'm so happy with the results! These trucks offer both power, longevity and reliability. I'm at 118k miles, owned this for 2 years and haven't seen a single problem (aside from a cylinder mis-fire which turned out to be a spark plug out of place) I love the look of the truck and the 5.4 is the dominator! The power behind the wheel is awesome, I've taken other (stock) trucks and not that speed is everything, but it holds its own and cleans their clocks. I would absolutely recommend this truck to anyone looking for a lighter truck (non-diesel) that will tow and is fun to drive.

Its been a good work truck and it still runs strong like the day I bought it in January of 06. Problems: 2 window regulators, spark plugs breaking when being replaced(actually only 1 broke in 2 separate incidences but most places want to charge big money to replace them), had a part in the differential wear out around 100k(cost me $800 to fix). Good: 182k miles and should be able to go over 200k but I have keep up on most of the maintenance pretty good especially the oil changes. I've never towed with it and I don't know if I'd buy a similar truck with high miles not knowing the history. Hope this helps someone!

Truck always regularly maintained and serviced at Ford dealerships. We take care of and expect our vehicles to last. It was running perfect until it immediately began idling rough at a stop. No check engine light, we just know our truck. Took it in for a tune-up (replaced spark plugs, etc.) and oil change. Perfect bill of health - couldn't replicate problem. Long story short - towed it back to Ford - they were able to replicate the problem - oil pressure dropped suddenly - need new $7k+ engine at 68K original miles. Others having same problem, but no recall. Unreal. Plus, while under warranty - had the four wheel drive go out and other engine issues. Not Ford tough.

Cam Phasers, Cam, fuel injector problems, now a whole new motor because the fuel injector blue and flooded cylinder #4 that we have always had problems with. i hate this truck and the money it has cost me.

I purchased my truck brand new from a dealer in 2005. Have changed all fluids religiously, except for recalls and bad quality dash ac vents, have replaced them 4 times, all has gone well. Recently after tune-up and all service, my engine failed (No. 5 Cylinder) took into dealer and they stated, change the engine it's flawed. Called Ford, no help. Had it taken apart to repair at the dealer, they called me to compliment me on how new the internal of the engine was. How then did it fail. Dealer says Ford issue. That is not what Ford tells me. I would be ashamed if I was Ford.

Bought my ford f150 in 2007, it had 32000 miles. About 3 month later the 4 wheel drive went out, ya 5000 miles later. I called ford to find out what they would do for me. The customer service was very poor and rude. They wanted to charge me $100 to find out what is wrong with it, on top of what it would cost to fix it. I don't care about paying to have them fix it but to charge me an extra $100 just to find out whats wrong, come on now. After I just payed $30,000 for a truck 3 months early. Toyota doesn't pull that. I like the truck but, the 4 wheel drive has big problems, and customer service suck!!! Going back to Toyota.

I bought my 05 f150 v6 back in 2009 and has never giving me any problems. It started off at 19,000 miles and just hit 70,000.This truck is great if your looking for something dependable and big. my only problem would be the lack of power and torque. It is very safe too I got rear ended by a expedition at a red light and it only made a small dent in my bumper. The passenger air bag also shuts off when a child is in the front, this feature could save a life.

i'll start by telling that i am a ford motor company retiree with over 30+ years on the assembly line. my 2005 f-150 has lived up to the problems common to the 5.4L engine. sparkplug issues, timing and cam phasor issues, and a bad cylinder head to name a few. all difficult and expensive to repair. i have confirmed many of these problems with ford dealer mechanics, and private repair shop mechanics. as a group they all confirm that engine issues are becoming a big problem for 2005-2008 ford trucks, vans, and large suv's. the real problem lies with the manufacturer. ford is not backing up their claims of top quality and reliability. what a shame that they deny their responsibility!!!!

God, what to say about this truck.........oh yeah, AWESOME!! I owned this beast for three years before trading her in and that was only due to gas prices........got to the point where I started crying at the pump. The drive quality was great, really smooth ride. The interior was very spacious for my two kids, wife and myself. It definately had power which was evident by the two sets of BFG All-terrains I went through in 11 months, very expensive and stupid replacement, but fun!! Driving up north was a blast, especially uphill, always had power on tap for passing..........please people, stay to the right!

Nothing but problems with fuel injectors. This should clearly be a recall issue but is not and very expensive to fix. Fuel injectors go bad about every 20K. Now the spark plugs need to be replaced and I can't find a mechanic that will do it because they are known to break off. My mechanic replaced just one and it took 3 hours. Very disappointed after having owned Ford trucks for 30 years. Can't wait to switch to something else.

I bought my F150 4x4 used for a very great price during the days of $5 gas, but right out of the gate I have had problems. The 4wd system is a total joke and I have had to have it repaired twice in 2 years, and I only have used 4wd maybe two times. The truck gets even more horrible gas mileage than I expected, around 14mpg, and even though it has a V8 engine it can't even get out of its own way. The power window on the driver side broke and I expect others to give way soon since it is a common issue apparently. Front ball joints also needed to be replaced. All these problems in two years. I should have bought that Toyota tundra.

I have owned this pickup for 5 years now and there always seems to be something wrong with it. The air conditioner will not cool in stop and go traffic- only at highway speeds. Ford says there is no problem. The ashtray quit closing, now the CD player in the radio quit working and will not even eject the CDs that are in the machine. Injectors have had to be replaced at less than 70,000. It came with the worst tires I have ever owned and at 70,000 has almost worn out the second set (of high quality, 60,000 mile tires) even with rotation and alignment (which the dealer can't do due to the 20 inch factory rims). This is my fourth Ford PU and the build quality has definitely gone downhill.

Bought this superbly maintained low mileage 4X4 with plow, gently used. Good power and interior comfort, but I was disturbed to find both front 4 wheel drive actuators went out at 26,800 miles. It would have been past warranty (because of age, not miles). However, the original owner bought extended warranty, which does transfer, although there is a fee and some effort to get it transferred. It was fixed under warranty. The parts were in stock, which suggests to me this is a common problem. I don't think it's a good sales point that major things break on a vehicle with under 30,000 miles. Otherwise, the truck looks and runs well.

The F150 Lariat supercab has been very reliable with no cost of repairs to date (which is good because I've been rough with it at times). It rides smooth for a truck while still being able to haul everything a normal person would ever want. Although it may not have the acceleration of competing models, it is definitely built to withstand the abuse of a what I expect a truck to take.

Just bought this truck. Tires are factory size. This truck is great. I've had lots of Fords but this one I'm in love with, and so's my wife (that's a challenge)If I keep my foot out of it I'm getting 21-22 mpg @ 60-65 about 18 @ 70-75. I like how high it rides with the stock tires and suspension on it. I also like all the bells and whistles. I didn't buy it to out run the local kids but as far as the handling, performance, and milage, I'm impressed.

"engeneers need to improve the drive train". This is clearly the best drivetrain I have ever seen in a truck. The Allison is nowhere near as good as this seeing as if you do not change the fluids in the Allison religiously, it will fail quickly. The stereo package is one of the best I've seen in a truck and I enjoy the responsive throttle and brakes. The ride is much more superior than any Chevy or Dodge I've driven.

I tow a 7000 boat with no problems and plenty of power. The factory stereo is very nice. Wish the gas mileage was a little better but with a big V8 that is what you can expect. For the selection of trucks available, the F150 isn't a bad choice. I bought mine used due to the bargain price I paid for it. General ride and handling are good for a truck this size. Performance for the 4.6L engine is rather lethargic though. Rated at only 230 hp for 2005, it is merely sufficient for the weight it has to contend with. My previous Ranger with a 4.0L and 4WD would easily put this thing to shame in all performance categories. However, fuel mileage for both trucks are much the same, about 14-15 mpg for the mostly spirited stop and go driving I do. I prefer the styling over the '09 model year which is way too boxy now, '04-08 was sleek w/o looking overly squared off.

I bought a 2005 Supercrew King Ranch. This truck is a piece of art in my opinion. It could not be more comfortable or look any more appealing to the eye. The Truck is a work horse and has all the power anyone could expect and a ride that is of the luxury car type. Anyone that is considering a truck for the long haul should look into a F series! Well worth the money!!!

The quality is simply not there. I've taken my truck in for warranty repairs 41 times. That's right, 41. I wish I could pursue lemon laws but it's never the same problem. Performance is pathetic. It can't tow a 3000lb trailer, shifts out of OD at the slightest press of the pedal, return lousy MPG. My 91 Chevy would run circles around this truck. EVERY other 1/2 ton truck on the market has a superior engine than the 5.4. Ford sells truck because they are cheap, no other reason. I'm convinced my truck is a dud & not a true example of Ford, but my experience & service I've received from Ford has guaranteed I'll never be in a blue oval again.

I put many miles on a vehicle and this one has been no different. I have owned many cars and trucks and this is one of the more comfortable ones I have owned. I "rigged" this truck up a bit but putting true dual exhaust, cold air intake and super-chip. Very quick for a heavy 4WD pick-up.

After almost 3 years of ownership all I can say is that the truck is just OK. Mileage is 13mpg city and hiway. My problems have been: Clunck in transmission when starting from a stop, back sliding rear window rattles like crazy (had repaired once), bracket holding the passenger front window in place broke and the window fell into the door,($425 for that fix) CD player had to be replaced, brakes replaced at 20,000 miles and I do not drive the truck hard, needs a little more power. Good things: Decent ride, nice looking truck inside and out, comfortable seats.

I bought this truck a couple years after buying my house. Needed something to make those trips to home Depot. As usual, the occasional need arises to ask the truck to do more than expected. And with the 4.2 V-6, I was a little concerned about it's ability to provide adequate power. The chassis build was never a concern. Honestly, the sluggish feel from the V6 doesn't fully demonstrate it's full potential under load. It actually starts to behave like the famous 300ci in-line six. I was quite surprised when I hooked up my new 27' travel trailer, and was reaching for the overdrive button at highway speeds. Have towed a 66 Mustang on a Uhaul trailer, and 2000' of stone in the box. Not one problem

This is a nice LOOKING truck. BUT.. within 20000 miles the 5.3 triton and drive train have major issues. The interior is great. I enjoy driving it and people tell me its really looks nice. BUT,the ticking noise from the valve train and VCT is just poor workmenship, parts and design. After paying $42,000.00 for this vehicle and four years later having to dump $2000 for engine repair is Wrong. Ford knows the fix and won't recall. I give the truck a 8.7 out of 10for its handling and looks. Ford a 3 out of 10 for allowing this to happen. Warranty stinks.

I was a japanese truck buyer for years.. I own a farm in Waco and pull large trailers. I needed something that can pull. My tacoma could not. I bought my 05 Lariat FX4 4x4 Crew brand new with 26 miles expecting to get 80k and dump it. Now i have 211,460 as of right now and has been great. Only repairs were headlight bulbs, tires, fluids, and brakes twice. The 5.4 is a real workhorse and still purs with 211k. Toyota? my tacoma had a new tranny put in at 120k and 195k.. This is far more comfortable. I strongly recommend the Ford F series truck. My next vehicle will be American.

Have had rear end clutch packs replaced, the front end 4x4 actuator replaced twice, the right side lower ball joint twice and now at 67000km/40000mi the transmission blew leaving me 600 miles from the nearest Ford dealer at a remote Outfitters lodge. I have nothing but praise for my dealer who has listened to my problems and fixed them and I am thankful I bought 84months/75000mi of extended warranty when I bought the truck. Fuel economy is just a little better than my 1996 F-150 with a 302 V8

I still have five years left. I received a notice for a 10 year extended warranty on the fuel injectors but have had no problems at all. I have limited slip and it pulls my boats with ease. It is a powerful engine, (5.4) and feels like the muscle cars of old. I also have and use the back up safety sensors constantly. Gas mileage is not too bad 18-25 on average. I have two six bangers that can't get near what I get with that big V8. The suicide doors on the super cab are great and it looks so good rather then a four door.

I've had my 2005 for about 4 months. When I first bought it, used, the front differential sensor was out and 4WD wouldn't engage. After the fix, it's been okay. Mine doesn't have the limited slip and is virtually useless in the snow, even with 4WD engaged. Other than that, the interior is great, ride is nice and it pulls my 23' trailer just fine. (With a bike and generator in the bed.) I have 33" tires and the fuel economy is horrendous. I get 10-12 empty and 6-8 with a trailer. (My trailer is about 4,000 pounds) I've had 3 previous F150's and they have been better off-road, but not nearly as comfortable as my 2005. Reliability hasn't been as issue with any of them, with normal maintenance.

Bought this truck because my other 150 has over 300,000 miles on it and I needed a new one. The engine on this truck is very strong. I don't really care for the electronic throttle control. It's rated at towing 9900 lbs but I've pulled over 14,000 and it pulled it really well. I've compared this truck with the GM truck and this truck seems to be better built. For example on my Suburban the doors are welded to the body and the weld has started to crack. Where as the Ford is bolted to the body frame. The transmission seems to be a little lose and that is supposed to be normal but it is a little annoying. Overall this is a great truck that has a good engine and is really a real truck.

Everybody compliments on the looks inside and out. Problems: At 30,000 miles all of the brake pads tore apart and had to be replaced, then at 35,000 miles 4 fuel injectors failed (Thankfully it was still under warranty). Which is frustrating because the dealer said Ford knows this is a problem but will not recall it. When we first got the truck we had it in the shop 5x for a whinning noise in the 4X4 when it got below 25deg, they finally fixed it but really could not tell me why it was doing that. I have had this truck for 27 months and up until this week I have been very happy with it and its performance. For a 4X4 I constantly saw 15mpg (city) and 20mpg (highway). I have had problems with the truck. Three months ago the 4 wheel drive system would try to engage 4 wheel low while I was driving down the road at 50mph. The local dealer repaired the problem within a day. Just after 37K miles, while driving down the road the truck stopped applying power to the rear wheels. I had the truck towed to the dealership and was informed I would have to replace the transfer case. If you are looking to own a vehicle for an extended period of time I would stay away from this product line.

Well it's still going strong for me. Thanks to trailering about 8000lbs worth of horses from Jersey to Ohio, Virginia, etc. I now have close to 70,000 miles on it. I also pull my 66 Mustang to shows with it. What can I say, still in love. So much my other half bought an 08 Super Crew with the long bed. Mine is still squeek and rattle free. That suspension does it all, rides great, handles great, and hauls and tows like a beast. Sure, New Tundra is fast, but it is a tin can. Come on, "triple tech frame?' What is that? The Fords fully boxed frame from stem to stern rocks. The 5.4L does not really get bogged down when hauling or towing. Best truck ever!

The truck has had far too many electrical problems. In 145000 miles it has had three alternators, two batteries, seven light bulbs and five sensors replaced. All after the 36,000 mile warranty. Now it is having ABS problems that I have estimates of from $300 to $2,500 to repair. Front brakes are very expensive to replace, as are most other items dealing with suspension, that should not be. Front bearing are over $200 and cannot be repacked, they need to be replaced. Overall, very happy with the ride, handling and comfort, but the electrical issues are really a problem. Never know if I will really get where I am going or not.

I drive my truck on road and off, highway and local, through extremely bad weather (hurricanes) and I have not had a single problem with this truck. I've hauled lumber in the bed, and pulled single axle trailers with this truck, and it has been great. The sunroof and 6 CD changer has been great, the heated seats are fantastic, and the AC works fine in our 100+ degree summers here. Ford just sent me a letter extending the coverage on the fuel injectors for 10 years....but I have not had any problems. I use premium gas and get oil and tires serviced on time. Where do I begin. I brought my truck brand new and I take very good care of it. At 3000 miles, starter goes out and I have to have it towed from work. Next, black emblem paint chips off and steering column begins to rattle. Next, computer chip goes out and I have to have it towed again. Transmission begins slipping and rust is starting to form underneath all doors from bad welding. Air Conditioner leaking inside cab now on passenger side. Transmission is still slipping and now I have a clunk in the rear end when I come to a stop and start to go. I am not at 34700 miles and the warranty is getting ready to expire. Give me a Dodge now!

No problems with build or options. Solid as a rock. I have had it a year and a half and the ride is great, tons of room in front and the back for my passengers. I have slept in the back on long trips. The captain's chairs are huge and comfortable. 300 hp is plenty and going the speed limit on highway gets me 20 mpg or better. Back up sensor is great option. Wow, Ford did it right with the new F-150. I'm 50 years old. I have bought new Dodge, Chevy, Honda, and other Ford products and this '05 F-150 is the best ever. I have owned it almost two years and 30,000 miles and not one problem. Not even a small problem. The last new truck I bought was a 2000 Silverado and that was a nightmare from the time I took delivery until i traded it 36,000 miles later. The Ford is at the other end of the scale. It rides nice, is super quiet inside, and is pretty good on gas. Seats could be softer, and it could use more power. I got the 4.6 v8, should have got the 5.4. Other than that, the truck is flawless.

I'm now a year and a 1/2 into driving this truck, 25K miles, and most of my original review still stands. It's been an incredible truck. However, I had to share that I recently returned on my first two road trips with the family (1K and 1.2K) in distance and was amazed that after simply changing the air filter before I left on the first trip that I got 18.5 mph on the first trip and 19.5 mph on the second. It's paid off that I opted for the 3.55 factory gears and installed a low profile, glass bed cover. Smooth sailing!

Bought the truck a year ago, STX model with no back seat or carpet. Surprisingly, plenty of room with 40/20/40 split. Drove the truck 65000 miles in one year, not a single problem, just maintenance and brakes. Although I do get annoyed with front brake dust on wheels. 4WD works great in snow, nice turning and ride for 4.6 V8. towed 2 cords wood, struggled very little. Nice roomy bed, well designed interior. Seats do stain very easily, I recommend covering them as soon as you buy the truck.

This truck has so many issues I don't know where to start. So rather than try to sum up my experience, I will advise anyone who wants to purchase a Ford go out and do some research first. I have replaced the front differential and axle assembly, drive shaft, ring and pinion gear assembly and now the clutches in the rear posi rear end. All under warranty at dealer and all common problems with this vehicle. I drive it like a car! Haul nothing pull nothing! BUYER BEWARE! GOING BACK TO TOYOTA.

After several SUV's, my first pickup. Nice to drive - both on the freeway and offroad. But not very reliable. Problems range from annoying (the CD player has been replaced 4 times and still isn't working correctly) to serious (has broken down 3 times and been towed once in the first 25,000 miles due to faulty fuel injectors). About to go out of warranty so I'll probably consider trading for something more reliable - maybe Japanese?

The most fantastic vehicle I have ever owned. Super quiet. Solid. I hit a chuckhole and wait for something to rattle or vibrate. Nothing! I have never had this experience in a motor vehicle before. I hope to keep it the rest of my life. Quite a contrast to my last Chevrolet. An amazing vehicle. Finally the ultimate has arrived.

The truck is great and comfortable on the highway, and the ride is so smooth, it's like riding in a luxury car. The only gripe I have is the gas mileage, but I guess it's because I have the large v-8 motor. I have 36000 miles on it and the mileage is about 17 highway. Although that's not good gas mileage but a lot better than the Dodge of the same size.

When I purchased this vehicle, I was in awe. After a while the truck began to develop a few rattles but not many as my cars in the past. The most major problem I have encountered with this vehicle was the floppy headliner. I have had to install my own version of a packing foam in the headliner to eliminate the problem. I have currently experienced a problem in cold weather with the headliner tapping sounding as if the rear window is rattling but I have yet to experience any relief. All in all this vehicle was great on long trips. However the retention value is terrible!.

My driving consists mostly of city driving. Even though this is a pick-up truck, I have found that I can use this vehicle for everyday, get around type of driving. There is enough room in the cab to take the kids to school, go shopping, or pack luggage for vacation. Plus, when I need to, I can load up the "bed" for anything else. It rides great, the seats are awesome, and the fit and finish are excellent. Maintenance has been minimal. Although I had to have the rotors turned to remove brake "shimmy". Outside of that, it's been scheduled maintenance.

Interior/exterior awesome styling. Hand grabs great. Large mirrors allow you to change lanes easy. Head rests you can actually use. Upgraded stereo sound great. Seatbelt position on seat works outstanding. The flareside styling is awesome. Tires seem to be wearing very fast. There is a drivetrain rattle that is still not found. The 4 wheel drive system has gone out twice now. Modules the first time, now the the motor that engages the system is broken. The transmission slips a little. Only 19000 miles on truck.

I purchased this truck because I love trucks, and more specifically, Ford trucks. However it is my first one. I have not been disappointed for the most part. Reliability has been great, and I get complements everywhere I go. A manual transmission was one of my top priorities, so I opted for the small, V6 engine. As can be expected, it is no rocket, however, with the manual tranny, it feels pretty torquey off the line. I have regularly hauled full bedloads of stuff, with not problem, and on several occasions towed a bass boat. It takes everything in stride with no problems. On long trips, even with a full bed and AC going full blast, I have received as high as 21.5 mpg on the highway!

I've been driving trucks for some decades and this is the best so far. Before this truck I had a GMC Sierra SLT. The Ford is as comfortable but much quieter. The suspension hauls loads easier than the GMC did and tows very easy but at a minor price of needing ballast when empty. The are two negatives so far. 1. Gas mileage with the 5.4 Triton is low but then you can't haul feed with a Prius. 2. The front brakes leave loads of dust on the wheels. Like my other Fords in the past, I need two 40 pound sandbags in the rear when empty so the rear end doesn't hop around on bumpy roads. I am not a rah rah Ford person but this is a very good truck so hats off to Ford.

This is a good overall truck, with the exception of the bed. The tailgate will not handle very much weight at all. 100 12' 1x4's bent the heck out my tailgate, can't even shut it now. Ford refused to do anything for me. It is obvious to me these trucks are geared more towards SUV status than work trucks anymore.

I've had this Texas edition SuperCrew for just under a year and the ONLY complaint I have is with the gas mileage. The mileage is just fine on the highway (about 20 mpg as near as I can figure) but in-town I can just about see the needle falling when I sit in traffic or at red lights. And this is with the 4.6L v-8. I've not found this engine to be underpowered at all even with a heavy load in the bed. The interior design is just about perfect, seating front and rear very comfortable with more than adequate leg room in the back. The 6 cd premium sound system ROCKS. It's a nice looking PU that delivers more than just looks.

I had Dodges and Chevys and they were ok. But this truck is great. This truck is everything I hoped for. Outstanding performance. I want to drive it every day, but want to conserve the mileage. Love the quiet ride. I ride in my son's RAV4 and it generates more noise than a semi. The sound deadening is an awesome feature. Because of the horsepower and the lack of engine or road noise I have to use the cruse control to keep from speeding. Had to go a second dealer. The first lost the deal over a $150 set of running boards. Pull a boat that weighs in 7000 lbs. don't even know it is behind you. I like the 5.4L Great reliability. Highly recommended.

The 2005 Ford XL V6 is now our Friday night date vehicle. It rides better than the Toyota or Honda cars we have. I love the design and the color. The truck is getting 21 MPG on 2 lane highways at 55 MPH. The gas mileage on the interstate at 70 mph is about 18.5. I am pleased with the truck and I rate it higher than the GMC I traded in.

It has the best ride of any previous Ford trucks. The frame is stiff enough to cancel out the pothole vibrations that usually shake the beds of most trucks. The V6 isn't fast, but it hauls well with the 8ft bed full of gravel. If you drive with the torque instead of revving up, it returns about 20 mpg. Dead reliable for over 30k miles now.

I like the truck a lot. I did have a problem with a vibration in the steering wheel at 55mph and up. They fixed that with new tires. The steering wheel is sensitive to bumps when at highway speed. It does not idle as smooth as I think it should when the engine is cold and some times in traffic. I need to take it in for this. Other than that I like it.

I have had my beast for over a year now and I am still in love with her! The drive on the freeway every morning is a breeze and any off roading is just as smooth. It has enough pick up to jump into Houston traffic and it handles quite smooth for its size. It is easy to get in and out of with a skirt and heels; the bed isn't too high so I can still reach in and get items I put in the back with ease. The half cab is GREAT for shopping and the extra storage is always a plus. They just need to start making the other cars taller so they can be seen in the rear view!

I wanted a bigger truck to replace my Ranger, but couldn't find what I really wanted - a big truck with good gas mileage. I typically drive a lot of highway miles at high altitude and high speeds on long trips and needed more power, speed and comfort than the Ranger could give and this truck does it all. From carrying 20 8ft railroad ties with the tailgate up to driving 800 miles per day or commuting. I think that with a tonneau cover I could regularly break 20 mpg, I regularly get 19-19.5 on the highway and up to 16 mpg in town. Interior has great space and is well designed. Low wind noise at speed and handles very well. Outright acceleration could be better but torque is sufficient.

I'm still having a hard time believing I'm driving a truck because the ride is so nice. I've made most of my friends and family members take it out so they can see for themselves. Soft, easy, quiet driving that eats up the dips and bumps on highways and back roads. I'm averaging 17.6 mpg. Excellent sound system. Convenient instrument panels. Locking tailgate is a must if you go near a city. I love the 22 inch deep bed, and the fact that the bed rail on this 4x4 is high, very high - it prevents an average person from easily reaching in to steal something from inside the bed. Overall a fantastic drive. Ford went beyond expectations with this truck.

I love the 6.5 ft stepside bed with the extended cab look. Awesome looking vehicle, especially in black. Many people complain about the 4.6L power... but unless you are racing your truck, it is more than adequate. You can't expect 0-60's like a sports car in a full size pick up. The power has been more than adequate for me, the transmission gets it moving just fine. I got 17.7mpg on a recent 500 mile trip. Get the 35 gallon fuel tank, well worth it with the low MPG. I get about 15 day to day, which is what I am used to so it doesn't bother me much. Nice heavy truck, solid, and almost silent in the cab. Looks much more stylish than any other full size out there.

My Texas edition Ford F-150 is a really good overall truck. Power from the 4.6L engine is lacking and the transmission is always shifting whenever there is the slightest grade in the road. I've had my truck in the shop four times in the last year. First three times was because the air conditioner wasn't blowing cold air. After the third visit, the dealer ship figured out it needed more freon as it wasn't serviced properly at the factory. The fourth visit was because when I applied my brakes, the front end would shimmy. The dealer got it right the first time and machined the rotors. The truck only has 25,000 miles on it, the brakes should not have needed machining that early in their lives.

This is a good truck. I've had it six months and only one issue with a shock leaking when I first bought it. Dealer fixed promptly. Tows 8700 lbs! This is a bear in parking lots, a big, burly, beast. Comfortable cruiser that will take you anywhere, but not 0-60 in 3 secs. 4WD worked well in the snow, but I do wish Ford would invest in some additions like DRLs, auto 4WD, side airbags, satellite radio. Don't get me wrong, I love this truck, but I have to acknowledge it's shortcomings. I LOVE the motor, I can go anywhere and really appreciate the 4WD and I can hook up the trailer (~7k lbs) and it will accelerate uphill! But I think the shorter wheelbase contributes to a slight rocking.

I LOVE THIS TRUCK! I currently have 17743 miles on this truck, and so far so good. The performance is great; I get 16 miles to the gallon up the turnpike with my quad trailer on the back loaded with 4 quads and 2 dirt bikes, plus our 6000 pound camper trailer is barely felt on it. My friend has a Dodge with the hemi, sure the hemi is quick but that truck is a tin can, mine is a bank vault. No problems except the 6 cd changer has been replaced twice, but the Audiophile system is awesome. I have an 02 Continental as well that was supposed to be my car for cruising in but the truck is more comfortable. Way to go Ford for designing such good driving characteristics into such a beast!

Hey Folks! In our family our 4 door 2005 F150 is called Big Daddy. It has quickly become our daily driver due to its comfort, power, and ease to drive. We almost fight over the keys to see who gets to drive it. It has the 5.4L engine which gets OK MPG, has plenty of room for five adults or two cowboys and lots of gear. We pull horse trailers and it never even shifts down pulling hills. We love our Ford F150 and when this one gets 250,000 miles we will replace it with another Ford F-150!

I wasn't really planning to buy a F150, just looking around. Then a salesman came up and asks what I was looking for and I said maybe a truck. He then asks if I had time to take one out for a ride. Yes I do! So I took this (my) F150 King Ranch out for a spin. Love at first ride. The interior was all leather and it definitely had all the bells and whistles. So I brought it right off the lot! Took a trip from Texas to Georgia. Average at 70 mph between 19.8 to 20.5 mpg. I was happy with that considering that this is a big truck. It can cruse at 80 mph or above easier that you may think! Don’t take one for a test drive because your old truck will be jealous and worried! LOL.

Don't like the limited use guidelines when in 4 wheel drive on pavement. Steering while in 4 wheel drive binds up a bit when in tight turns. MPG has averaged 12.5 - 12.7.

I purchased this vehicle new 6 months ago and it has been in the shop 6 times so far. The dealer says they cannot fix the vibration in the rear end after 4 attempts. There have been several different problems. Some parts were not even installed (a/c hose - water was going in floorboard). I can not even get a loaner vehicle while it is being repaired but 2 times. It has currently been at the dealership about 36 days and counting. I'm waiting on a buy-back or replacement. I also have a claim with the BBB AutoLine.

I've been a loyal Ford brand buyer since '65; 23 units to date. My new 150 SuperCab 5.4 is a drivetrain vibrating 3 valve knocking nightmare. The dealer has had the vehicle on three separate occasions with excuses that started with the tires and now says a counter balance is needed to reduce (?) the vibration. I do not care if they changed driveshaft vendors and are having problems. I want a drivetrain that turns true. Period! The new 3 valve setup runs rougher than corn cob. The dealer blames it own Mother Ford and says the techies have not come up with a patch for the computer program that runs the darn thing without disturbing the tranny. I am in shock, mourning and complete disbelief.

Have had this truck for almost a year now with no problems. I love driving it! It has plenty of power, size and I love the best in class towing ability. It is not as fast as the Titan or the Ram, but hey, I wanted a truck, not a race car. The added safety of the extra steel in the construction more than makes up for it. No disposable truck here!

I've owned a lot of trucks over the years and this is by far the best all around truck I've ever owned. The interior is top notch quality that rivals my wife's luxury SUV (I won't mention what brand, but it's a direct competitor). The 5.4 Triton offers the power I need, yet still gets very respectable gas mileage. Trucks I've owned in the past have always been weekend warriors, but this truck is my everyday driver, just because it's so much fun to drive. Its handling characteristics are very well mannered for a truck. This is my second Ford in 7 years and I haven't had any problems in 7 years. I will probably be a Ford owner for a long time to come.

One more year to go on the lease then I'm done with Ford. Never get the 4.6L V8, way underpowered. Never buy one with the General Tires, noisiest tire on the planet. Hope you can overcome the electronic throttle lag when you push the gas. Hope you don't buy one like I did that the transmission fried at 12,000k because some seal blew connecting the transmission to the transfer case. Ford doesn't put "new" transmissions in anymore, just rebuilts. And this rebuilt one has been serviced 2 times already and it still doesn't run right. Expect 12mpg in the winter and 15mpg in the summer. Only owned 2 Fords in my lifetime and both have been a disappointment. This is it! Pity too because I get the Ford Discount.

I purchased the truck as a leftover 2005 about 2-1/2 months ago. Rebates/discounts were aggressive, making it a good value. I only have 1200 miles on it. The truck rides smooth, very quiet, great interior space, sufficient power. The truck is heavy, so the acceleration is only okay given it has 300 hp. However, I will use it to tow a 6,300 lb travel trailer, so additional mass in the truck helps keep the trailer from pushing the truck around. The rack and pinion steering is very good, it cruises the interstate with great on-center feel. Heated seats are nice in the north country. Moonroof is quiet when open or closed (unlike many other vehicles). If you like it, buy one!

This truck is very nice, especially the interior, but it has vibration problems that have been a major headache. The transmission, along with many other parts, had to be replaced at about 16,000 miles. This doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in this truck. I also have an automatic a/c control module that has been replaced 3 times because of the air shutting off at various times.

It had no problem at all climbing any of the hills or going down the logging trail that my 2001 Nissan had. It's also a lot better on gas than I thought it would be. 250 miles on it so far and just a little under half a tank left. Would recommend it to anyone. It's one awesome truck.

Our 2005 Lariat is a well built luxury full size pick up without the Lincoln LT price. We note excellent workmanship with no rattles, loose trim, or mechanical problems after 4,000 miles. We receive lots of positive comments from friends, neighbors, and strangers. The 2005 has improved safety and structural integrity over our two previous F-150's a 1997 and a 2001. The 2005 has more power for towing than our previous 2001 5.4. The 2005 has excellent driveability and is very comfortable on long trips. You are only reminded that you are driving a full size truck when you stop to fill the gas tank (14-19mpg range), but with the need to occasionally pull a horse trailer there is no better option!

Had problems with steering vibration right after I bought it. Turned out balancing the tires did the trick, though first time in all the vehicles I've bought I've had to have this done right out of the gate. Ride and handling are great, 5.4 is a little sluggish but acceptable. Love the interior and like the deep bed as it gives more inside space with a tonneau cover. Fuel mileage is ok, compares with the 1/2 ton Chevy I had. Love the looks of the truck, again great ride and handling.

Great truck, so far only 3,000 miles on it and no complaints. Gas mileage not great but it's a truck. The interior is like a sedan with no engine noise and very little road noise. A/C is not cold; on 100 degree days it can still be warm in the cab. The sound system is lacking power unless you add a amp. or aftermarket speakers. The power of the truck is adequate for the truck size. C'mon your pushing 5500 lbs. of steel. When you step on the gas it will go, it just takes a little bit longer. The new tires that Ford has contracted with is okay, why didn't they make a more common size; it's pretty hard to find a replacement tire. Overall great truck.

When I first got this truck it pulled hard to the left during braking. it took 3 months for them to fix the problem. It has 3 vibrations, 1 in the motor they say it is normal per Ford. They replaced the driveline, they rebuilt the rear end replaced the rotors, the calipers, brakes, and changed something in the fuel economy system. It now gets 16 mpg, through all this I still have two vibrations and a wobble at 35 mph. I now have a different mechanic looking at it. He says it looks like a driveline problem and motor vibration, and something to do with the transmission, due to the 45 to 55 mph vibration.

I wanted an upgrade from the 1995 basic F150 I traded in. I feel good riding in it, looking at it, washing it and getting numerous complements. I plan on keeping this one longer then the previous truck.

The truck can hold up to six people, while storing items in the back. The Ford F150 drives excellent. When going over bumps, it is not as noticeable as other trucks at all! We really have enjoyed having it.

HVAC controls. Limited choices. Slow to heat or cool. Bad fogging problem outside front windshield at engine vent. Visteon compressors are lame. Premium sound system: NOT! Poor controls/performance. Horrible speaker layout and too few of them. Low quality plastics everywhere and very little in the way of convenience areas compared to GMC or Dodge XLT. 4.6L V-8 Heritage engine dates from a decade ago. Low HP, torque & MPGs. Not particularly smooth, especially when A/C is running. Still, I paid $10K less than a Titan or Tacoma - so I can live with the gripes.

Great truck!

Over all the truck is fantastic, offering a lot of room and plenty of options. It is with out a doubt the best ride I've ever gotten out of a truck. I do think that Ford could have gotten a lot more out of that 4.6L V8 than they did. Specs rate it at around 230 HP, which I found surprising. But it still has plenty of power for every day driving and hauling needs. Fuel economy could be better, but with a large v-8 like that it actually performs really well in that department. I have gotten 20 MPG for highway use and average between 12-15 for city.

We have the 2005 Crew Cab Lariat. The interior makes a loud rattling sound which is from the ceiling. With a sunroof, there is no way to attach the ceiling to the roof resulting in a loose flapping sound when you hit a bump. What is amazing is that this was a problem with '04's and yet Ford did nothing about it. So I get my '05 and it has this sound. Instead of pre- fixing it before the buyer takes it, Ford makes you bring it back. Totally ridiculous---Quality is no longer job 1 with Ford. Just check this out before buying the vehicle. Next time...I'll be visiting the Toyota dealership sorry!!!

I had driven my brother Ford F-250 Lariat and I was so surprised that a truck could handle so easily along with comfort plus quietness. When the time came for me to purchase another vehicle, Ford F-150 Lariat was my choice of trucks I had been looking at.In fact, my Ford truck handles more easily than my car. My Ford F-150 is very good on gas, example, I live in Georgia and I took a trip to Jacksonville, North Carolina, approximately 390 miles and it didn't used a full tank of gasoline. It still had 134 miles to go before the big "E". Great on gas, especially now with gas prices over the hill. I wouldn't trade my F-150 for any other truck, just love driving it too much. You Check one out.

Bought recently, have put 1500 miles on it. Came with the 5.4L engine upgrade. I test drove the F150, Silverado and Ram. The Chevy and Ram are MUCH faster but the F150 is the most refined. The interior is much improved over the 03. I've been trying to squeeze the most out of my mileage with a soft foot (never revving past 3000rpm, A/C usually turned off), but I still manage only 13.5 local/hwy combined. With gas prices climbing, I might have to get an economy beater car for hwy driving. If you want acceleration, go with the Chevy or Dodge. But the F150 beats em out in almost all other categories

I compared to Dodge and Chevy and found there to be no comparison. Most interior space and best fuel economy, Ford had made the best truck since 2003 and continues to do so. The interior is huge and has a fabulous design. The only thing i would change is the way the doors open. It drives great and is extremely mechanically sound. I would strongly suggest this truck to anyone looking for one.

I'm at 2800 miles and so far so good. No build/quality problems at all. Very comfortable ride, quiet cabin. Rear end gets "bouncy" and sometimes feels unstable over rough roads/broken pavement, otherwise the ride is good. Engine is solid and smooth. Limited interior storage with audiophile system. Ford should be embarrassed with these dinky floor mats on a truck. The captains chairs are comfortable but I wish they had more lateral support.

I owned a 2004 SuperCab that was a piece of junk. Many problems! I traded for a 2005 Supercrew Lariat. After 800 miles someone turned in front of me when I was going 45 mph. Air bag went off, and $13,500 worth of damage to truck. All in front of doors. I hurt my hand on the steering wheel when it spun out of control, but I was not injured severely. If I would have been in a Chevy, I would not have been so lucky. They might not be the fastest or stop the quickest, but I believe they are the safest! And they ride and look better than all the rest!

I have a 1999 F150 extended cab 4.6L Triton engine. This has been the best truck I have ever owned. I called the Ford dealership at 70,000 miles to check on how much a tune up, brakes you know, what I thought was time or past time, to have done to keep it up to date on maintenance, and was told or asked why? It's not recommended until 100,00 miles. I was shocked! I had run into a little extra money and wanted to have this done while I had the money. To my great surprise, it was not time. The ride and comfort is superb. I will definitely buy another one, if this one EVER runs down. It's like the Energizer Bunny ... It keeps going and going and going! I LOVE IT!

First off, kudos to Ford on this interior. Anyone who complains about it needs to sit in a 10 year old Dodge and see how far trucks have come. The FX4 has an off road suspension, but on road manners do not suffer. I've been very impressed with how this F-150 rides. Ford has raised the bar for trucks with this effort.

An excellent vehicle except for 3 things: tall rear end makes visibility bad out the back, lack of dead pedal leaves no firm spot for left foot, and freewheeling transmission prevents use of cruise control in mildly hilly terrain. Traded it for a Murano after 8000 miles.

This is a very good truck. The handling is the best I have seen on a truck. The ride is very controlled and comfortable, but a little stiff. There very little body roll. Crash test ratings are excellent and even the resistance to rollover is good. The acceleration from a stop is adequate, but not as good as you might expect from the horsepower and torque ratings. Acceleration seems better when passing and merging. I love the deep bed and very large console storage space.

Ford has finally built the best truck on the market, period. This truck was built for people who drive trucks. The details in the design are great. It rides like a car, drives like my luxury car, and is made like a tank. The only competitor was the Tundra, but it doesn't come close to the quality of this vehicle. The Super Crew has tons of room with the 4 doors. The Triton/5.4L is horse. The LineX bedliner is a must. Great add-on. I'll check back in 10 years when I've put 200,000 miles on it. Awesome job, Ford.

Compared 5.4L V8 XLT 4x4 with Silverado Z71 package. So far I am really pleased with the Ford. Even with large side mirrors, there is little wind noise for this class. Steering is responsive and not numb. Relatively little body lean in turns for a large truck. Even though I go fishing and haul stuff, we also use the truck for everyday stuff like going to the store. Anchors for toddler seat are easily reached and not buried deep in backseat. Took advantage of Ford Family plan and got truck for $5K under invoice (after rebate) and much cheaper than Expedition 4x4.

I believe Ford has come a long way in the re-engineering department. I love the quiet ride. I own a 2002 Ford Explorer also, and the new F150 is a much quieter ride. Excellent Truck! I have had almost every model of Ford beginning with the Tempo. I traded a 2004 Ranger for this '05 F150 and haven't looked back. Excellent cargo space, solid construction and virtually no road noise while driving it offroad or on. My only issue is that the 5.4L engine will wreck a gas tank quick. With prices as outrageous as they are, you will be looking at a $50+ tank close to once a week.

The clients I entertain always comment on the interior. This truck is quiet and smooth. At nearly 19,000 miles, the truck has been flawless with no rattles or other annoying problems to contend with. Only a couple of things I do not like is that the work truck came without a CD player and no running boards standard on the heavy duty equipment package I purchased. I think they should be provided on all the extra payload trucks. Has good pick and go power overall. Not a race horse. Yet a good overall work horse. :]

Just took delivery yesterday and I'm ecstatic. The King Ranch is without a doubt the absolutely nicest truck on the road anywhere. Built like a bank vault; solid, quiet, powerful, smooth, good-looking inside and out, very comfortable and luxurious. The "family plan" pricing was too good to pass up - really an amazing amount of vehicle for the money. I looked at used E-Class Mercedes and Audi A6's that would have cost thousands more, but can't do what this can. Yes, the fuel economy is not what you'd get driving a Jetta or Prius, but consider the fact that it's 300 hp pushing over 5500 lbs. The mileage is actually pretty good for such a vehicle.

9000 miles and front brakes chatter, dealer says that's just the way it is. He seems to think I abuse it as I'm 60 years old. Never pulled a trailer with it and drive like a normal person. Doors sound like they are full of nuts and bolts driving over a rough road, again thats just the way it is. Salesman says i should have driven it over a rough road before I bought it, however he was good enough to offer to take it on trade for a '05 model. Something funny going on with the gas gauge as it took 30 minutes for it to register full after the last fill up. Gets 16 mpg around town and 17 on road.

I have owned six other F-series trucks and this new F-150 is by far the best. The level of electronics is a huge upgrade from previous models. The ride is superb, and the fuel economy for a vehicle this size is good. This is my first super-cab. The styling and increased space is great. The vehicle is a little on the heavy side, but it does not seem to affect the fuel economy much. It should be interesting to see what kind of reliability it has in the long-run. It was truly a good purchase experience, being able to build your style truck with the options required. Some of the new standard features on certain models is welcomed. All in all, quite a vehicle so far!

If you want a truck this is the way to go. If you want a truck that is more like a car, get the Chevy. Chevy doesn't allow for as many mixing and matching with the options.

Bought this truck new with the 5.4L engine with the 3:55 positrac rear end. The Dodge is faster, and the Chevy looked bad in the front end, and the Nissan only offers a grey and beige interior, yuk. The truck has not been to the shop for anything other than oil and filters. I now have 15,000 on the truck and am getting 15 to 16.4 mpg driving mostly highway to and from work. It will pull my boat just fine, but the boat is about 2700 lbs, so anything will pull it. The seats are very firm, maybe too firm. I have a hole in my front left part of my drivers seat on the seat cushion. The cause seems to be a sharp piece of seat frame right below it. This is the only thing I can say that isn't good.

I have just completed a vacation road trip that was 2375 miles long and covered all types of road surfaces and conditions. My truck handled them all with equal grace and perfection. The engine delivers plenty of power and is more than willing to give that extra boost when needed for passing. The interior is no slouch either. I have the cream leather with the console mounted shifter. The sound system is audiophile quality and provides plenty of bass with the built-in bass module. Buy this truck and you won't look back!

Great design inside and out. This is easily the quietest vehicle I have owned, which is a surprise for a truck. Handles heavy loads without breaking a sweat from the engine and powertrain. I also like the deeper box for carrying more loose material. The 4 wheel drive works very well, but you have to be careful when cleaning since Ford designers put several blind pockets near the wheel wells which tend to fill with mud.

Truck runs pretty good. I got mine used but it runs very well. The only thing is that it's too sluggish when it come to accelerating from being stopped when compared to, say the Toyota. After its starts moving it moves. Design-wise it's pretty good, that's why I bought it instead of getting the Toyota Tundra which has a plain interior design. The right is really smooth and quiet. I wish that they would of put in an engine with more horsepower to make up for the additional weight.

I've been a Mercedes-Benz and Honda guy for more than 10 years, but I was in the market for a low budget full-size pickup truck. The leasing incentives offered by Ford drew me into the dealership, but in the end I'm also thrilled with the product. It's incredibly comfortable, quiet and easy to drive. What's more, I was surprised with the fuel economy, as I logged 17.2 mpg on only the second tank of driving. I wouldn't put much faith in other Ford products, but it's pretty obvious the F-150 is the company's crown jewel, and I will consider another when this lease ends.

This truck is a huge disappointment. With all the hype, I just can't see it. The engine runs like crud. It won't idle. The gas mileage is horrible. It has the power but there is no throttle response. CPU programming they tell me. Then fix it! The drive by wire was a mistake. Ford used to have the best cruise control in the business. Now, because of the lack of throttle response, there is a significant lag. The air conditioning is only cool, not cold! Again they say CPU programming. Also, I'd like to shoot the guy that thought up the deeper bed. You can't reach into it. They seem to be trying to phase out the SuperCab longbed and shortbeds are useless so they make deeper beds instead.

I have only had this truck for three months now, and so far, I can say that I am in love with it. The ride is great and the comfort is top notch. The only quirks I have about it are the noise I hear in the steering wheel (like a clicking noise when going around corners). Other than that, great truck.

I purchased this vehicle after several years in a Ranger. The main reason for the move to a larger truck is so I could load an ATV in the bed and do away with a trailer. Excellent move, but at the time of purchase the longer beds were not available thus I have to remove the cross-over box if I want the ATV totally inside the bed, or I have to secure with the tailgate down. Just returned from a week long trip in the wilds of the Nevada desert and found the F-150 perfect for my needs and excellent ride. It does NOT get the mileage in the city as advertised; a little better on the highway, especially if you utilize cruise control, but off-road, for some reason, it got excellent mileage!

This is the third truck that I have owned and it is by far the best. I have compared the F-150 with the other trucks in its class and it really is the best built truck. The F-150 has a frame that is far superior to any of the competition. This truck also has vented brakes which allows them to cool down faster. The ride is very comfortable and road noise is minimal. I have been getting better gas mileage than what the sticker states (15 in city and 19 highway). So far my average in the city is 17 mpg. Not only is this truck a work horse but its also a great family vehicle. This F-150 also received one of the best crash ratings which gives me peace of mind when driving with the family.

I shopped around and reviewed trucks for about six months and narrowed my choices down to two trucks, Ford and Toyota. I must say I really do not regret the decision. It looks great, is deceivingly fast, brakes work great, quiet and smooth. Toyota was underpowered and boring and Nissan had HP and nothing more, plus its as ugly as a Dakota. This F150 is perfect; at first I was worried about some forum stated vibration issues, but they seem to be taken care of for my '05. I love driving it and looking at and the interior is unbelievably luxurious. You really need to check this thing out.

If anyone is looking for a new pick up truck I would highly recommend the F-150. I have driven Chevy's, Dodge's, Toyota's, and the Nissan. None of them compare to the quality that Ford put into the F-150.

This is my second F150 Super Cab 4x4 King Ranch. The first one I really liked a lot, but this one has what I consider to be serious transmission problems. There is a very hard downshift at lower speeds accompanied by a very noticeable "clanking" noise. I am being told by Ford that this is "normal" for F150 series for the period 2000 through 2005. I simply refuse to buy that kind of excuse for not wanting to make the necessary repairs. My 2003 same model type NEVER had that problem. Road handing is poor, in my view. The ride is very noisy. The engine is sluggish at times.

This is a great truck. It is very quiet inside at freeway speeds and the ride is very smooth for a truck. There is a perceived lack of power, but it's a truck that weighs something like 6,000 pounds, not a sports car. Same thing with gas mileage, a heavy truck, but it gets better mileage than the 2003 Land Rover Discovery that I had, so I'm not complaining.

My husband love it so much he got one too. The best thing about it was the day we test drove it and did a quick stop and the salesman hit the back of my seat. It stopped better than the Tundra; we almost hit a car in that test drive.

Although I average 1,500 miles per month, I have put 4,000 miles on this one in the first month because it is fun to drive. Quiet interior and excellent handling have been pleasant surprises - I have never before driven trucks that came close. My other vehicle is a BMW 3 Series so my fun to drive comparison is not against something shabby. The only real reason I now find for using the Bimmer is fuel economy. Sure the F-150 cannot compare with the BMW on acceleration, but I can't say the truck is a real dog, something I had expected from reading reviews. Instead my problem is trying to keep it reined in. High speeds come quickly and unexpectedly due to the quiet and the ride.

This is my 7th Ford truck in 36 years. I was in the market for the F- 150 Super Crew with the Lariat package. When I saw this truck and the price, I changed my mind on the spot. This is the first new truck I have purchased that did not have all the "bells and whistles." It is the basic regular cab with air conditioning and the work truck option. I am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the ride is. The vinyl captains chairs provide plenty of passenger room and the storage space behind the seat is surprisingly large. I was also surprised at the maximum load capacity. This extra carrying and towing capacity is great. This is the best value truck I have ever purchased regardless of price.

I use it for everyday, camping trips and small loads so far. I even pulled my friends 30 foot boat out of the lake (mud season) with ease. As it gets older it will be working harder. I experienced problems when the dealership rotated my tires. They over torqued my wheels and caused warping in the rotors. From that point forward it has been a nightmare. They even suggested it was my driving! Well now in the 4th return, Ford has come up with an updated rotor. So now the truth comes out. But just before this they were going to make me pay for repairing their mistakes. I just question their honesty and integrity.

The tilt steering wheel lever broke off after 400 miles. The rear end went, needed a clutch pack replacement after only 1,100 miles. I asked that the dealer where I purchased the truck clearly document the issues and resolutions in case I needed to pursue Lemon Laws. They then refused to work on the truck. Ford Motor company no help. I took the truck to another dealer to get it fixed (still lots of shudder / grinding / slipping) then traded it in on a Dodge. This truck cost me a lot of money. This is basically a tow vehicle for hauling my 4000 lb. boat with the greatest of ease. The truck has a 3:55 rear axle for decent fuel economy and a 8300 lb. tow capacity. I walked away from the accident with one little scratch. Even though my F150 flipped, I got another one because i feel very safe in my truck. If i had not been in my F150 who knows what would have happened. I probably would not have walked away. This is my 3rd F-150 since 1998 and each one just gets better. The ride is car like and interior better than most cars. The new exterior design is very attractive and packaged right, (I got the Texas package). Looks and feels good. Ford always seems ready to deal at the right price. I saved thousands over what Dodge or Chevrolet would even talk and got more truck. Size feels like a F-250 with the nimbleness of the 150. The quality keeps getting better. This is the best truck yet.

I love my truck, not good with power, do not like the price I paid for a pick up with no carpet and cover on seats. I had to upgrade to power windows/doors...they did pay that. But my sticker said $33,000 - far from what I see it should be. I did get it for $28,000 but looks like I paid way too much....again! But I do love it!

I have owned my truck for only two months. The comfort and initial quality of the vehicle are outstanding. It provides a smooth quiet ride and plenty of power to get the job done. The steering and handling are superb, especially considering the size of the vehicle. The appearance and styling of the vehicle is second to none. No other truck on the market, in my opinion, can match the tough, bold, appearance of the Ford.

Great truck. I did special order this truck, so I have every thing I wanted. The engine is strong 5.4l 3v 300 hp. Put after market muffler on truck, even runs stronger, can’t wait till it breaks in at about 9,000miles. Great in snow. Paint job could be better; it’s not bad but I’ve seen better.

Very nice truck, well designed. New front end. Like the design from the side view. Very roomy inside, enough for six people. Nice ride. Handles the road real well. I have full power seats, windows locks, power mirrors, and even a power rear sliding window, signals in the mirrors, 4.6 motor. Gas mileage could be a little better, I guess, for this size truck. 13 mpg. city and about 17.5 mpg on highway.

Still neutral on performance.

On the weekends my F-150 becomes my toy for camping, little league, household chores, etc. With a tonneau cover I keep my baseball/softball gear available for the weekday games and practices without compromising the clean and still like new appearance I want for my clients. As an owner of a 01 F-150 SuperCrew I was very happy with my truck, until I saw the new '04 style at an auto show and set my sights (and wallet) on owning one. Almost one year and 17,000 miles later and was it ever worth it. I custom ordered my Lariat from an excellent knowledgeable dealer and would do it all again. The truck's new exterior is incredible. The new outside is nothing compared to the inside. The new flow-through cabin design does not have words to describe it. The power moonroof, audiophile 6 disc changer, and power memory leather seats make for a great road trip whether around the corner or around the country. The ride is smooth and most of all for a truck VERY QUIET. What a SWEET RIDE!

It's good looking inside and out. It drives and rides more like a SUV than a truck. The premium audio system is very impressive. The Lariat is really a luxury machine. It has many features only found on the finest cars. My only complaint is that it is so large that it is difficult to park or put through an automatic car wash.

I did a ton of research before I decided on this pickup, and let me say that it has been a great experience to own one. Build quality, handling, power and comfort have all lived up to expectations so far. I also like the feeling of safety I get from the front-end crash test that I saw on television last year. As an Emergency Responder, I can say that it was really impressive in that there was minimal passenger compartment compromise. As a family man, I really appreciate the safety features considered in this vehicle. I really wanted a 6.5 foot bed, but if you can live with a 5.5, this is one well-built product.

If you're in the market for a new truck, do yourself a favor and test drive an F- 150 FX4 4-door truck. And you'll discover why it's well-simply the best. The interior is black & beautiful. The ride is what surprised me the most, smoother than Cadillac, and man, can this truck tow anything with ease. But I will be honest with you, the truck is heavy-real heavy. This truck was built with a new body which increased weight, BUT many people don't know that in case of an accident your chances of survivng are huge. Plus if you want to show your buddy your truck is stronger than his Dodge or Chevy, trust me it won't disappoint you. VERY STRONG! You get everything, power, smooth ride, comfort.

I have the 5.4 engine in this truck. So far so good. Bought in 5/2004. Looked at the Tundra, Titan and Sierra. In my opinion this was the best truck out there. This truck has lots of interior room unlike the access cabTundra. I have bucket seats with the HUGE center console - plenty of room for storage. Only complaints: not near enough room under rear seats and the standard tires are a joke. They need tires like the Titan. Right now I have 8,900 miles. In the summer I was averaging betweem 16-17 mpg (city & hwy). Winter avg is 15 mpg, but that's what you get with a big engine truck. New interior is awesome. Highly recommended. 1st Truck.

Leather seat and driver controls very convenient and classy style make this truck very fun to drive each and every time, and the best part is power windows in the upercab that feel nice on a warm summer day. Lift assist tailgate very handy for doing work and great towing power for my 32 foot camper. I have nothing negative to say about this truck. Keep up the good work Ford!

It's the quietest truck on the market. The bulkhead between you and the engine is "quiet steel". It really works. The engine is a masterpiece. 300hp and 365 lbs ft of torque. More important, 80% of that torque is available at 1000 rpm. Extended cab rear seating has always been a compromise, but I can sit quite comfortably if someone my size is driving. The frame is the strongest in the business. It's the only truck to receive dual 5 star safety ratings. Also the only truck to pass the offset crash test. I've put on as much as 600 miles in a day. Comfy! Steering is tight. I like that. Same goes for handling. I had an '03 and loved it, but this new truck raises the bar.

I traded in a '97 F150 regular cab to purchase the new one. It had been a great vehicle so the decision to replace it with another Ford was fairly easy. We did however, look at and test drive other vehicles. The Titan was no comparison. The Dodge was nice but overall the ride quality and interior comfort far out weighed the Dodge. There is much more room in the backseat for one thing. The ride is smoother, the new suspension system is great. I love my new Ford truck!

Have 16,000 miles currently with brake problems. At approximately 8,000 miles in for service and required rotors to be turned on front. Now having same problems with bouncing when braking. Will have evaluated soon at Ford dealer. This truck is too new to have rotor/brake problems. Also had rear bumper repair due to rear end collision. Bumper flange on frame was cracked and dealer suggested replacing frame at $5900.00 for relatively minor damage. Reason being the metal the frame is made of cannot be welded on. May be a great frame, not sure about metal composition. Seems that the cost to insure will be passed on to the driver as more of these frames have to be replaced.

Stepped up from my 98 Dodge Dakota 5.2l 4x4. This F150 is smooth and quiet. Tows great, lots of low rpm grunt. Where the Dodge was screaming rpms to get up hill the F150 pulls at 2000 rpm like a dozer. It also gets great gas mileage compared to the 5.2 liter Dakota. To date with 10k miles truck has been trouble free.

For value where else can you get a V8, 4WD, auto, cruise, 6 CD changer, manual windows, locks and rubber floor for less than $23K? The 3" factory lift and 17" wheel package completes the look. Although an STX semi base model, this truck has everything I need and almost nothing I don't. An XLT for $10 grand more does not compute.

I love the interior and with the three valve 300 hp 5.4 engine, the truck really runs great at high highway speeds. It just cruises with no roll or road walking. In the snow of the northeast it does a great job. I am really pleased and happy with my truck. The only negative about the whole truck is gas mileage.

This vehicle is second to none with its ability to tow, haul, or just plain get after it. The new body style makes this truck the most attractive in its class; it’s just as nice on the inside as it is the outside. The driver friendly cab puts everything within comfortable reach from the speed controls on the steering wheel, to the radio, four cup holders, and dashboard storage space. An extremely smooth ride and handling will make you forget you are driving a truck. I highly recommend buying this truck for work or play (I use mine for both). I couldn't be more satisfied. Rear differential has whined since new. Rear differential had to be replaced. Battery junk making vehicle unreliable. Ford said there was a bad plate. Charged the battery and refused to replace under warranty. Stranded 6 times. Finally, dealership replaced battery. Windshield has stress crack running all the way across. I have owned many new Chevys, Dodges and Fords over the years. I am not impressed with the quality. I don't see where the customer service is anymore.

I owned this truck for 12 months. It has constantly been in the shop. I will name some of the problems. INJECTORS quited, broke down on way to work, had to tow in. Shifter locked up. could not shift out of park, towed in. Fuel line cracked, had to wait two weeks for parts, TRUCK is rusting on rear panel dealer repair was just bondo. No call back from Ford customer service. every now and then truck turns off while running. I recommend waiting for the new toyota tundra this summer. or looking at Nissian. Ford is Ford and It is going the way of Montgomery Wards, Eastern Airlines, Service merchandise.

The 2005 FX4 F-150 is the best truck out on the market. The power from the 5.4 triton is amazing and the overall style is great. I have not had any problems with it and i am very happy with my purchase.

I waited thru the 2004 class of F-150's knowing Ford had this one in its sights. Couldn't be more enthusiastic about my new ride. Its big!! But handles like an SUV of smaller stance. Ford Quiet Steel, is quiet. Ride/wind/engine noise is minimal. The much talked about outward rear suspension does keep the tailgate behind you on the largest of road bumps. Comfort is unprecedented for a pickup. I will admit I am a bit disappointed by the low end acceleration but when this 5500lb truck gets moving; it moves. It was built to work, and towing with it is NO PROBLEM. That's when you truly trust and appreciate the motor. I'm looking forward to my 100,000+ miles in this Ford

Never buy a new model the first year!

The body is a piece of junk. Door trim tore off because of missalignment. Both rear doors have ripples in the steel. Looks like an accordian. Box has paint bubbles. Key sticks in ignition most of the time. Locking rearend had to have clutch pack replaced. (chatter when turning) Transmission never shifts the same. First shift is either jerky or real jerky. Dealer said there was no problem. Heated seat quit working. Some things have been fixed under warrenty, but wavey doors and paint bubbles are still to be repaired. I know it will not ever be as good as it should be, after body work.

i know semi-metallic pads are to wear differently, but i have had this truck for almost 3 months and the rotors are looking like wash boards already. those things should still be glass smooth. the dealer says "it's normal" but i know better. i cannot prove them wrong, but i know i'm right. other than that, i love this thing. i have never felt a tighter ford truck than this one.

I have really enjoyed the car-like ride and the attractiveness of this truck. While the 4.6L lacks a little bit in power, the truck still performs nicely and handles like a dream. I would recommend this truck to any truck buyer who wants a real American truck that looks as great as it performs.

Ordered this truck exactly the way I wanted it and after picking it up I soon realized it was even better than I expected. The ride is so smooth and quiet I almost forget I'm in a truck. My 5.4ltr has 500lbs of torque and does whatever I want it to and begs for more. Ford did an unbelievable job on the quality including the fit and finish. I just can't say enough about how pleased I am with this truck. I hghly recommend it!!!

I just bought my '04 truck in September and so far so good. I know its a Ford, but I took a big chance in buying it. The interior is the best in its class! The engine is a little slow, but it does well. Honestly, the truck handles like a car.

I started to research the new Ford F150 in February, 2004. By April I was convinced that Ford had made some significant changes to the interior, exterior and most importantly to its safety ratings. I traded a 2000 Chev Silverado, LT Z71. Good truck, but nothing compared to the 2004 F150. Much more room in the bed and cab; love the floor shifter, much better air circulation with great vents, glad I did not get the moonroof, extra space in the overhead rail compartments very handy; best riding vehicle, ca
