Purchased used with 34k in 2009, I have a 06 Dodge Stratus and it's the best car I have ever owned. Where do I start, engine is doggy and slow to pick up, bad gas mileage, no rear leg room, plastic on seats by seat belts broke, developed a lifter tap at start up (60k miles) even with proper oil changes, brain went at 70k ($1,200) can't keep rotors on it, drivers door does not seal can't hear yourself think over 40 mph, if I lock it into 4X4 it binds klunks and moans, when I take it out gas mileage drops significantly and it pulls to the right for 2 or 3 days (since day 1), now at 101k the check engine light comes on then goes off but no codes, squeaky front end, I could go on and on.

I bought an '05 Dodge Durango ST with 45k on it in June 07 for ~$19k. In that time I've put on over 165,000 miles. I have had to replace all 4 tires twice, battery, headlights, alternator, gas tank (factory recall covered by Dodge), spark plugs, & air compressor. What finally did me in was losing the transmission about 2 weeks ago. Fixing it would run about $1500 and even then its no guarantee how much more the car has in it. The gas mileage is miserable but this car held on through the rough & tumble college years where it was routinely loaded down with people & stuff for long haul drives (1k+ miles). Nothing fancy but sturdy. I am sad to see it go and not sure what I'll replace it with.

Great vehicle! We have put 220,000 miles on this SUV and been back and forth across this country many times. It has performed flawlessly. We have done Nothing to the engine other than the exhaust manifold came loose from the engine. Great comfort and realiability! Lots of space for cargo. We are a traveling band and hauling sound equipment all over was hard on this truck but she just kept going and going and is still going!

Love this SUV.

I love this truck. It has been dependable since I purchased it in 2007. It was a 2005 with 23K. I have driven this from WI - TN x2 and WI- FL x2. No issues other then it spits fuel back out when you fill it. Minor repair issues. I even hit a deer did minimal damage. I feel very safe in this truck.

Great SUV no problems at all.

I have had the Durango a little over 4 years. I have not had one single reason to bring it to the shop other than routine oil changes and the 60,000 mile service which I had done by my mechanic not the local Dodge dealer as Landers McCarty in Huntsville is totally dishonest. The options listed the ST with the 4.7 V8 as a 4x4 although mine is just rear wheel drive but they did not have that option. I felt it important to list the V8 since I can not speak for the reliability of the other engines. I also get 14-16 Mpg around town and at least 20 Mpg on trips. I would highly recommend this SUV.

Great vehicle for road trips with family, fun around town, or as an everyday driver. I use it for work and average around 1k miles a week. The selling points on the Durango are ride quality and interior features. It has a super smooth ride with great handling for a vehicle it's size. It also has several nice bells and whistles that Dodge puts into it's higher end vehicles (ipod connection, bluetooth, sat radio, etc.). The downsides are also there though. Poor gas mileage, minimal second row leg room, and a little more road noise than some prefer. It also has great cargo room and a great sound system.

Overall very good SUV. Ride is smooth but can get bouncy on rough roads. No major mechanical issues, sporadic stalling has happened a few times per year, EGR had to be replaced under warranty. Check engine light will come on if gas cap is not on properly. Average 17.6 mpg in mixed driving. Incredible in bad weather, made many long trips in bad weather to hockey games. 3rd row seating not very comfortable to anyone over 12. Lose all rear storage space with 3rd row in use. Rear and middle rows can be folded down which is nice. Sound system is very good. No build quality issues to report. Overall very happy with the Durango and would consider buying another one in the future.

My Durango has been a trooper. we originally drove this vehicle from FL to IL with no issues. This is a vehicle that can handle miles and will last. But one issue I have found is my gas inlet does not close. This causes gas to over flow when I fuel the vehicle. Now this was a recall for this vehicle. I have also experienced my car shifting out of park (which caused me to park into a cop) but Chrysler refuses to uphold to repair being my vin is not highly reported. So be aware of the vehicle and its faults.

Very nice truck for the money.

I bought a 05 Black limited 4x4 with the Hemi 94k miles. The person prior took extremely good care of the vehicle. It runs perfect in every way and is very quiet for such a big motor. The tranny is silky smooth. Gas mileage in town is 16 mpg and on the freeway is 21-22 cruising at 75. The ride is good but not great, handling is the same. Infinity sound system is fantastic. The seats are comfortable during long trips etc. Towing is great and the vehicle is very stable on the road at all times. The drivers seat plastic has cracked just like all the rest, not a big deal, but annoying. Other than that, I love this truck. Pictures do not do it justice, go drive one and you will likely buy it.

This is an all around great vehicle. Yes the plastic seat molds break, but like everything they cannot last forever. The ride is amazing and the power is extreme. I have the 5.7l V8 Hemi. The dealership is in Bloomington Indiana (Town and Country). I recommend going there. All of the sales team were really friendly, and I was not pushed (big one for me). I got a great deal on this vehicle from the dealership. Within the first few months, I had to have the gas tank replaced. However, this was a recall item and the dealership was very helpful and courteous in getting it replaced. Other than that, it's been a joy to own. It rides just as good, if not better, than a Honda or Toyota. Fuel efficiency is decent in the city for a vehicle this size - about 17mpg city. On the highway, I know I'm getting at least 22 mpg which is very decent for a vehicle of this size. This is definitely the best vehicle I've ever owned!

Bought the Durango used nearly 3 yrs ago and initially had several minor issues with some trim pieces. However, mechanically it's been nearly perfect and very reliable. Great tow vehicle and good for family of 6. Not quite as large as Expedition or Tahoe but much less expensive, tows as much or more (I've got the HEMI) and drives much better - especially in the city. Mileage also hasn't been bad as expected. I consistently average 15.5 to 16.0 combined and easily achieve 20- 22 on the highway cruising 80. Not the prettiest vehicle out there but one to seriously consider if buying used. NEVER buy one of these big SUV's new - you'd be throwing $1000's out the window for no reason!

Please don't buy a durango.

Its a 2005 with 55k miles on it and its going back to the dealership or the 11th time! Now I have collant in the oil so I'm sure its going to be a major deal. Its already had cooling problems, stearing problems, stalling issues, and on and on. There is a reason the trade in value is 8500 for a 4 year old car with 55K. Please go to the link below before you buy a dodge or jeep. I realy hate that this is what dodge and jeep have become, I was a die hard jeep guy for the last 20 years but not any more.

Like I have read in other reviews, the issues with this vehicle are tremendous. The 5.7 litter Hemi has great acceleration and I have been very please with the gas mileage. Other than that, it has been nothing but a nightmare. It stalls when stopping all the time, the dealership has no idea what is wrong since their computer tells them nothing. The interior continues to fall apart daily. Not to mention the extreme loss in value in 1.5 years is huge! I look forward to trading it in as soon as I can afford to bail out!

I have toed the line on fuel economy, the ecology, and so forth. After a bout with cancer and three minor strokes I decided to once in my automotive life to live; so I bought Godzilla. I went from a 1995 Subaru Outback with a 2.2L H4 engine that got 30 miles to the gallon to Godzilla which averages half that in town and I have gotten 24.5 mpg on the highway; with the A/C on. Yes, it is a brute, it is not lady friendly, but it rides smooth, has pick up, a tight turning radius and goodies galore. I love this truck and...yes it has a HEMI!!!!

Bought this Durango last month with 34,850 miles and couldn't wait to drive it off the lot. The reviews are pretty much 'spot on' with regards to the driving comfort, exterior styling and poor interior materials. I haven't had any problems with the vehicle and driving this silver Durango Adventurer SLT made me feel like a million bucks. Unfortunately, I will be selling this vehicle in the next month or so because I don't have that million bucks to keep feeding it gas. You can actually watch the 27 gallon tank, gas gauge move while driving. I knew the gas mileage was bad when I bought it, but didn't expect it to be 11 to 12 mpgs. It will be sad to see it drive away when I sell it.

I bought this on a whim from a dealer that I had dealt with before. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made. I had a Kia before and would give anything to have it back. I can not trade because the value is so bad. The plastic on the seat belts keeps braking. You would think Dodge would give a box of the covers with each sale.

My husband LOVES Durango's, this is our 2nd one. We have 2 kids so traveling is nice, especially the DVD system, heated seats, cd changer, etc. We use it to tow a trailer sometimes too. One thing that irritates me as well as other customers is the poor cheap plastic design in the front for the driver and passenger. My sides have cracked and even broke/holes.This should NOT be happening and I firmly believe if enough of us get together and complain, maybe they will fix it. It's a long shot but, a very high cost for an SUV if it's just going to crack.

We replaced our 1999 Dodge Caravan in 2005 for a brand new Dodge Durango SLT 4x4 with the 4.7L V8. Immediately, we began having problems with the passenger side airbag. It would always say that it was turned off, even if there wasn't a light load in the front seat. The 4.7L V8, with only 235 HP, is no match for this heavy, almost full-size SUV. Acceleration is strong off the line, but lacks mid-range and passing punch. The interior is made of cheap plastics, and the fit and finish is not very good at all. We averaged (we replaced it in 2008 for a Ford Taurus X) 15.3 MPG with it, and with only 235 HP, you would think it would have been better.

With the 5.7 HEMI you will have plenty of power. We get an average of 16-18 MPG city and 19-22mpg highway (cruising). This is one of the safest cars feeling cars I've driven in a long time.Still feel that this was a very smart purchase.

This vehicle is a maintenance nightmare. Go ahead and pull out the maintenance schedule and you will see what I mean. For example, plugs every 30k miles, axle flush ever 15k miles, transmission fluid every 30k miles, etc, etc, etc. This was a nice SUV for about 50k miles, but it has had problems with the steering and irritating clunking noise coming from the front suspension. The fuel tank has problems so it like to shoot fuel all over the place if you fill it up and allow the pump to automatically shut off. The transmission has started to slip and there is an idle problem that causes it to die. Has had this problem since about 30k miles. Just poor quality overall. We have the 4.7L Magnum.

We love ours!

We bought this Durango used with 65000 miles last January. It worked great in Kansas averaging roughly 20mpg while using AC. We now live in Colorado and this vehicle has been a dream. In snow and ice the AWD works great. We average 18 mpg up and down the mountains and around town. When we makes trips to Denver from BV we get 22mpg and got 24 on one trip. We did replace the plugs at 80,000 miles and they were fried. We used Bosch this time and have never had any other problems even with Colorado's 85 octane fuel. The rear seat is a little tight for adults, but great for kids and the third seat is great for extra passengers. Sound system is great too. Ride is good for SUV and extremely quiet.

This vehicle is excellent towing large items. When all seats are down there is enough room to carry large items The engine is excellant. My navigation system has been replaced once and now it's not reading the disc again. Also the seats feel cheap along with everything else in the cabin. The only other problem is that both the driver and passenger side square piece breaks easily.

Bought the Durango with Hemi for towing a 26' trailer. Generally does well except through the high desert states where it constantly shifts up and down even with the tow feature engaged. I can usually find a happy medium towing but not so here. Would probably do better with the 3:73 ratio differentials instead of the 3:92. Also maintenance is expensive requiring synthetic oil in rear differential. An exhaust manifold stud broke in the head @ 43,000 miles. Shop had replaced same one on another Hemi a month earlier. I don't mean to talk the rig down because I really do like the rig and enjoy driving with all the bells and whistles and great stability.

I leased my Durango and turn it in next week and I know I'll miss it. The few minor mechanical problems were handled under warranty and the total driving experience was excellent. Of course, it's a full-sized SUV so you don't get Prius mileage. I averaged 16 mpg in town and 19.5 on the highway. What I'll probably miss most (other than the hauling capacity) will occur this winter in Colorado snows. This is a very stable, very "under control" vehicle in bad weather.

I have owned my Durango for 18 months with no problems. I also own a grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 2006. Both are excellent vehicles but if you are going on a long trip the Durango is the way to travel. People always comment on the mileage but I have yet to see a vehicle with the toughness and comfort and good looks these have that get good mileage. If you want safety and Peace of mind in a vehicle I suggest an SUV. Try putting 5 people and their luggage in a econobox, and see how you feel after a day of driving.

Well first off the gas mileage is a joke, do not buy if you have any sort of commute to work or you'll be averaging $70 every 4 days on gas, crazy! Second, I have 5 kids (6, 2, and 18 month old triplets) and getting them in and out of this vehicle is awful, such a pain. I can't even go anywhere because no stroller but an umbrella stroller would fit. The interior is falling apart without even harsh use. All in all if we didn't have but a couple kids and worked 5 minutes away then it would be manageable but we are getting rid of this Durango ASAP!

Very smooth on flat roads very truck like on bumpy roads. Very nice family vehicle. Seats 7. Plenty of room for storage with 3rd row seats folded down. Overall this has been a great purchase.

This SUV is nice but the seat interior is terrible it cracks all up around the seat and seat belt. The bumper seem to be loose and and if in an accident it seem like It'll crack right up!?! There needs to be a recall on the seats. I also have the ABS light on which has been explained to me as a recall?

I bought this truck because it was my best bang for the buck and it was safe for all the kids. It was and it is. The truck has really disappointed though. Cheaply built, I have rust already, chrome door handles are falling apart. Strange dash lights go and off. Cruise control works, then doesn't. And don't do like I did and get one without traction control. This thing fishtails in snow like a 68 Camaro (whether in AWD or 4WD). On top of all that, the resale value seems to be tied to some sort of very heavy financial based anchor. I like the Hemi and it always starts, so there's the positive. I should have spent 8k more and purchased a GM product.

This suv is the best SUV I have ever owned. I have driven a Chevy Suburban, Jeep Liberty and other sedans. Those were good, but this Durango has an extrememly smooth drive, powerful engine (without hemi), comfortable seats and good sound system. I love that the back doors open so wide which makes for easy storage and entrance. I have never had a single problem with this vehicle. A month after I bought the durango, my wife drove it and she bought one! Good to travel in and has great pick up. Also great in the Cleveland snow! Love it!

I bought this vehicle at the end of 2005 when they were running the model year clearance. I had some negitive equity from another vehicle so the $6000 in rebates was great, however the depreciation on this vehicle is horribly. It nearly halved in value is first year. I am now two years into a 3 year lease and i am being offered my lease payout as my trade in value. I also have about 33,000 miles on the vehicle and both fron seat base cowlings are cracked near seatbelt attachments, the vehicle has stalled several times for no reason, the motor has a clicking lifter, and my fuel mileage keeps getting worse. Beware of the oh so good looking deal. Think twice before you buy.

I've owned for nearly 2 years overall never any major problems. The closest thing to any problem was the CD- changer speed slowed down but has been repaired. Overall still impressed that the Hemi in city still averages 19.2 - 20.6 mpg with no mods going 35-45mph stop n' go. Seamlessly tows, smooth ride, nice acceleration a nice vehicle for family and people that like to tow their wheeled toys around.

My husband and I wanted a Durango for years so we decided to purchase one a 1 1/2 yr ago. We did not have any major problems with this vehicle until around 25,500 miles on it. Now we are experiencing stalling periodically, a loud noise in the front left tire/engine under the vehicle area, and a loose felling in the steering. The rack and pinion has been replaced twice and it has been in the shop around 15 days in a 4 week period. I can't imagine that a certified mechanic can not hear the noise in the front and not being able to fix the problem. Not including the fact that the vehicle stalls when you least expect it. Very scary.

Love the looks, interior build quality is great, 3rd row of seats is big enough for 2 adults and with those folded down we can store a ton of stuff. Been on a few very long journeys and it has driven well. Smooth, DVD player in the back has kept the kids happy. But after 18,000 the transmission completely siezed on my wife and we had to get a whole new one. Now lost confidence in the car and then had a product recall (# G07). Thankfully just leasing so will return the SUV next summer and run like mad from the dealership. It's a real shame as I loved it for the first 18 months.

I have every option. Mechanically, I've changed the oil and she runs and runs. Interior build quality is a joke, I've had numerous parts just fall off including the infamous seat belt holder and the door reflectors on both sides. The air conditioning stinks. Heater blower too. The light tan interior is a super pain to keep clean especially the arm rest. Mileage is a joke for a few reasons. Number one. The computer mileage is not even close to being accurate. Two, my odometer is off 7%. Therefore if I travel 100 actual land miles my Durango says I went 107. Dealer says no fix. I say extend my warranty 2500 miles. Well we all know where that got me. The usual dumb look from the service manager.

This thing is fantastic, this is the first new vehicle I have ever purchased. Decided I would go all out with the Limited/Hemi/Nav Package. Power is fantastic, seats are comfortable, ride is unbeatable and this thing is super quiet inside. I can't believe I'm driving an SUV. Traded my 300M in on this and am very satisfied. Swore I would never buy another new vehicle due to depreciation but after falling in love with this truck I would not hesitate in buying another one! Highway mileage around 20-22 mpg, city mileage around 10-16 depending on how much I get into the throttle not bad for a 5000# truck.

I had an '05 SLT last year tradeed for a limited. The limited has a lot better quality upgrades such as the leather is softer, the door panels are a thin softer material but still way too much plastic, rides real smooth. The models are too confussing. My 05' SLTcame with leather, 4.7, hub caps, no overhead console for gas and mileage read out etc. All SLT's should come with mag wheels and overhead readouts. The limiteds should come with everything. My limited is missing tow, dvd, nav, hemi, chrome wheels. Why is it called a limited?

The 2005 Durango SLT is my third Durango in a row. It is awesome. I am 6'5" and love the head room in this vehicle. The Hemi lets me power my way through highways. I never feel like I need more power. I like its tough rugged looks while at the same time giving my family a comfortable and roomy interior for long trips. We took it to the Mall of America packed with 5 adults and one child in child seat and still had plenty of room for the shopping on the way home. One of the great things about this vehicle is the 90 degrees of range to the passanger doors. That is really useful. Not to mention the 4x4 capability. All kinds of storms and you are cozy inside! Thank you Durango!

Most incredible ride I have ever had from an SUV. Rides like a Cadillac. Handles great. Hemi has plenty of power, and fuel mileage is what you should expect. In general we get 16.5 mpg. But just highway driving at 70 mph with cruise we get 21 mpg. Thats pretty darn good. Also, it tows our 8800 lb boat fine as far as power is concerned, but we had to add air bags inside the coil springs to get more weight to the front axle for better handling. Dodge should offer an airbag suspension leveling system like some other manufacturers. With 23,000 miles now we have had no problems and no complaints.

Our first trip was to Florida from Connecticut, about 1400 miles. We averaged 20 mpg using 89 octane and speeds set at 72 mph (cruise control) The doors leak air and cause a serious distraction when trying to listen to the radio at low volume. The car handles well and performed well. and the ride was pleasant for the most part. You are unable to roll the rear windows down at highway speeds. They flutter to the point where you think your ear drums are going to explode.

This vehicle was a dealer's when we purchased. We liked due to the room and durability of the seats. It has a smooth ride. Several months ago we were away from home when the car would not start due to something with the key. The vehicle would not start and had to be towed back to the dealership. Also the ABS light came on at 53,000 miles and needed to be replaced at $600 job by the dealer. Keys are $140 to replace and not dependable. The newer computer system they said is in the vehicle is a poor system and can cause these things to happen when there is actually nothing wrong. Too expensive to replace.

Superb vehicle! Leaps and bounds ahead of the previous style Durango. Hemi has everything you could want in a motor, can't complain about the gas mileage. It was posted on the sticker and was well known when it was rolled out. You can't expect 335 hp in a big SUV to compare to a Ford Escape in terms of mileage. Ride is smooth, handling is precise. Extremely quiet even at highway speeds. Could be more leg room in the 2nd row. Leather seats are high quality and heated seats are quick to warm. The transmission is slow to engage going from reverse to drive. Bad visibility looking over you shoulder due to the pillar being in the way. Good fit and finish, though glove box is too small.

After a year and a half I have bid good bye to my '05 Durango Ltd. This vehicle had every option including Nav, DVD and chrome wheels. Had to take it back to the dealer 8x so they could finally fix an oil leak. 3x back to dealer to get the driver's seat repaired because it kept cracking near the power seat controls. One time they tried to glue a broken piece back on. The front bumper had to be reclipped because the some of the plastic clips were missing. Weather stripping had to be replaced numerous times due to falling off. All this and 12 mpg with a Hemi for a vehicle that stickered for $43K. Traded this hunk of junk in for a Honda Pilot and 24mpg.

Coming up on a year with our Durango, this is a good time to share a few things. The brakes have an occassional squeal that we are told is normal. But the interior front seat design is very poorly done for anyone over 200 lbs. My husband is an ex-football guy and whew, his muscles and size just don't go with the seatbelt contraption that pops out at the bottom of the seat. It has broken twice now, with just normal wear and tear, and you can see we don't drive it much with low miles. But that is probably the only complaints we have thus far.

I much prefer the newer lines of the Durango (late 2004/2005/2006 models). After the looks, the saleman sold it to me by simply telling me to put the power down. I bought the 4.7L V8 and it's great. The power in the mid-range is awesome (especially in tow/haul mode) but can be lazy to shift down at lower speeds. The ride is the smoothest I've known. It's a fantastic road trip car, with plenty of room and it cruises like it's on air. The large size isn't all that bad, as it manouvers reasonably well - and with over 100 cubic feet of luggage space it was invaluable for our recent house move! I highly recommend the towing package as it comes with larger wing mirrors.

After having it a short while I have fallen in love with it. It is the most comfortable and easy to drive vehicle I have ever owned. I have owned several. I love the deep throaty growl the Hemi lets out when she is opened up. It is not overbearing keep in mind. Just enough to let you know that I am a bad machine. The Durango is very easy to manuever and park in those tight places. If you are in the market for a full size SUV that can pull and that is comfortable this is the one for you.

I bought my Durango in 5/05 and have put over 20k miles on it thus far. I have never felt obligated to write a review on a vehicle before, but I am really impressed with this SUV. My previous two SUVs were a Bronco II and Ford Explorer. I was all set to buy another Ford Explorer when I decided to give the Durango a test drive. From the first moment I drove the Durango until the present day, I still find myself thinking what a nice truck. No comparison to the Fords, the Durango is another class. It is so solid, quiet, comfortable, commanding and the Hemi just plain hauls. Recently had to make a trip from NH to CT during a blizzard, the AWD/4WD/antilock brakes were amazing! Great SUV!

I've had this 2005 Durango SLT w/ HEMI since Sept 2005. So far it has been a HUGE disappointment. Things that went wrong with it: 1) The CD player stopped ejecting CDs within the 1st month. 2) The front passanger door was bent and the dealership had to adjust it. 3) There is a constant air leak from all windows. At speeds of 60+ mph it gets rather noisy inside. 4) The overdrive off (or as they call it tow/haul)works whenever it wants to. 5) Going down steep hills in 2nd gear the vehicle keeps accelerating and slowing down on its own - can't keep a constant speed. 6) Even w/ the HEMI it is very sluggish and underpowered. No pickup at all - my LIBERTY accelerates better.

We purchased our Durango about two months ago. The satelite radio is a favorite feature for our family because when you travel, you do not lose your channel. The middle row has plenty of room to seat adults, however the 3rd row seat is recommended for kids. The cargo space is adequate, but you would have to use the luggage rack if taking alot with you on a trip. We opted to get a DVD system on our own because it is less expensive than the dealerships price. The gas mileage is not great, we average 13.5 MPG. The guage in the upper console tells you your average gas mileage, which is a nice feature. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. We love ours.

The 2nd and 3rd row seats are actually comfortable and easily accessible, and the DVD with the wireless headsets is a blessing for the kids as well as the parents! The Durango Limited has to be one of the best kept secrets in this segment. I'm guessing the mediocre gas mileage is what kills the resale value.

I test drove this to a Jeep Grand Cherokee, I previously owned a Grand Cherokee older model and loved it. When I got in the Durango there was no going back. I have never driven a vehicle that drives so smooth with such comfort. We took it on a trip about 1450-1500 miles round trip we paid just under $220 gas round trip. Less than expected! The only thing I regret about our purchase is that we didnt go for the glory and get the loaded version, hemi, navigation, dvd, but when we trade it in I can't see myself buying anything else. Test drive this before purchasing any other SUV! Im glad I did!

I purchased my Durango in May 2005. This is the first Dodge product I have ever owned I sold and drove Ford products for ten years and never would dream of owning a Dodge product. Well I can honestly say I'm sold on this product. The vehicle is so much nicer than any Explorer or Expedition I have owned or driven. Fit and finish are very good and it is quieter than my wifes '06 Honda Accord. It is the perfect size and goes down the highway like a Caddy. I have 6000 miles on it only maintanence is oil changes and tire rotations. No rattles or squeaks feels like it is molded from a piece of granite. Only regret is the 4.7 it has decent power but i wish I had a Hemi. Hats off to Dodge, great SUV

Even with the low gas mileage I have been very happy with my Durango. Not only is it a comfortable ride, it is also very capable in bad weather. The interior has a lot of room for extra passengers and with the 3rd row of seats folded down there is a lot of cargo space. Going on vacation with 2 adults and 2 children we had plenty of room for everything we packed along with a couple coolers. When extra space is needed to haul bigger items, the 2nd row also folds down. With both the 2nd and 3rd rows folded down we have even slept in the back when weather got bad while camping. Would highly recommend the Durango.

Lousy gas mileage, large blind spots, dash board panel is not thought out well, things are just stuck haphazardly around and the back seat is too small. Why did I get this car? I have no idea.... I want my Pathfinder back!

I have always bought used cars because of the instant huge depreciation when it is driven off the dealer's lot, but with the insentives and rebates offered to make way for the 06 models, this was an excellent deal. I am very impressed with the smooth ride and agile handling of this large, heavy SUV - this thing is rock solid, not a squeak anywhere. The 4.7L V8 engine has more than enough power to get out of it's own way and haul an average size boat or trailer. The 4WD and antilock brakes make driving in snow effortless. I still prefer the more rugged styling of the older models and the dashboard seems a bit bland, but it dosen't have overdone flair and glitz like other "luxury" models.

I think that the Durango is a real nice looking vehicle. The only thing that I don't like is the gas mileage. The tag on the vehicle said that I would get 19 in city and 24 on highway. They lied. I only get 15 in the city and about 14.5 on the highway. I made this purchase thinking that the gas mileage was not the greatest but it was ok. Now if I'd known that the gas mileage was 15 in city and 14.5 on highway, I would of looked for another vehicle. I'm not happy with the Durango.

I have been driving the Durango for 2 weeks now and absolutely love it. This replaced a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. It is very comfortable to drive and though it is large, it does not feel massive to me. The hood is short making it easy to see whatÂ’s in front of you and good visibility makes is easy to park. The 4.7L V8 does what I expected with a 3 ton vehicle. It is not quick on the start, but does not feel like it is struggling. It has a great ride, handling, and turn radius for a truck. As for gas mileage, the overhead console says I average 15 on the street and 22 on the highway. I am use to driving SUVÂ’s and the Rodeo averaged 20mpg overall.

I leased an 05 Durango SLT and this vehicle surpassed all my expectations. I used to drive a 2000 Cherokee, so this was a big jump in size and payment, or so I thought. The ride is exceptionally smooth and does not handle as big as it looks. In fact, I think it's easier to maneuver than my Cherokee. Fuel economy isn't the best, but which SUV's is? And with employee pricing, IÂ’m only paying $100 more a month with nothing out of my pocket. Definitely give it a look. Only dislikes are the 4.7 seems to take a while to get going, so I wish I got the Hemi. Other than that I think itÂ’s a great value. Was comparing it to a 4runner and I think it beats it hands down.

This vehicle is full of comfort and style. It is far more luxurious than the 1999 Durango I traded for it. It also gets fair gas mileage for an SUV. So far mine has gotten about 16.5 miles to the gallon. The Hemi engine will fly, so you will need to pay close attention to your speed when you get on the open road. I opted for the DVD which, if you have children is a great choice. I also got a year of Sirius. The leather seats are very comfortable for short or long trips. I would definitely recommend this vehicle, as I have been very happy with mine.

We test drove several Trail Blazers and Ford Explorers and of course Dodge Durangos before we chose the Durango. What we noticed is the Durango and the Explorer were much more solid and had more power then the Trailblazer. Since we've owned our Durango we have averaged almost 19 MPG fuel efficiency, not bad for a V8. We have had the opportunity to take it on long and medium trips and we have found it to be very comfortable. We had 5 Adults on a trip of about 1500 miles and it was quite comfortable. We put down one side of the Third Row Seat to Store more luggage. We moved from an Ext. Minivan and the lack of storage space behind the 3rd row seat is the one negative for the Durango.

We own a 2000 Durango and really like it. The 2005 is totally redesigned and so much improved. The ride, handling and performance is excellent. I would like to see a voltmeter on the instrument panel. The exterior takes some getting used to, but does grow on you. The best part is the looks do separate it from the rest. The fuel mileage is not great, but about what I expected.

This is my first Dodge vehicle, and I can say I really like it. I found the Durango to have a funny look to it at first, however I have become accustom to it and now think it has a cool look. Coming form a Ford Explorer, I found the Durango handles and rides much better. I found the room inside to be very spacious and quite. I have the HEMI engine and it gives me unlimited power on the road ( I tow a trailer about 5,000lbs.) It is a gas hog, however thatÂ’s what you get for having the power. All in all, I have to say that I am very pleased with the Durango and would most likely buy it again.

This is my second Durango from the same dealer. My first one was returned and replaced due to excessive water leaks that the dealer was unable to fix. My new '05 SLT with Hemi has now had three fuel pumps on it and a new gas tank, and I am extremely dissatisfied and wonder where and when it is going to leave me on the side of the road again. This vehicle has less than 5,000 miles on it and has been in and out of the dealership since I leased it. I wish Dodge would face up to the fact that they have a problem and take steps to rectify.

I absolutely love my Durango! My husband had a MINI for about 4 months, and every time I drove that then got into my Durango I fell in love all over again! Reliable, and oh so comfortable. I wouldn't trade it in on anything. The only snafu was my steering wheel started to peel after about a year, but a new one was ordered without a problem. I love the sunroof. There is plenty of room for all 6 of us, yet it's cozy enough when I'm driving alone. A friend has a Suburban, and I don't find that nearly as roomy or comfortable...and the Durango is much more attractive!

After driving a 2003 Explorer for the past two years, the Durango is a dream vehicle. There is no comparison in the engine power, the Hemi is unsurpassed, and the quality and comfort of the interior is absolutly superior to Explorer. I'm averaging 17.4 mi per gallon which is the same as the lesser engine in the Explorer. I took a real hit on the trade for the Explorer, but it was well worth it. You must test drive the '05 Durango with 5.7L Hemi.

I have generally owned Fords. After the normal ups and downs of life, I decided to reward myself with a new vehicle. I had been researching for a year and half, looking at Explorers and Escapes, etc. I decided to take a visit to look at Dodge trucks since I have always liked the way they looked. I probably wouldn't have given the Durango a thought, but I really liked the redesigned look over the earlier versions. It is fun to drive and it gives me the leg room that I need. I settled for the standard model, because I prefered the color they had in stock! My only wish is that I had purchased the SLT with the 3rd row seat, running boards, steel rims, and moon roof! Otherwise, it is a joy!

My best advice is get all the bells and whistles, you'll love it. Much more roomier than the 2002. I had my dealer take 4,000 off sticker and 4,000 rebate. What a deal. This SUV handles very much like my much smaller Liberty did, the room is amazing..I could rave on and on. I have to admit, one of the biggest "perks" is indeed the Hemi. I recently traded in my '02 Dodge Durango SLT Plus with 70,000 miles for an '05 Limited AWD w/HEMI. WOW. I didn't think there would be such a difference between the two vehicles. The only downside is the gas mileage, but, the 5.7L HEMI is getting almost 1 mpg more than the 4.7L that was in my '02. It seems, strange as it may sound, that the truck is getting used to my driving style. When I first got it, it didn't respond to my pressure on the gas pedal as well as I thought it should. But now, all accelleration is as perfect as it could be, i.e. accellerating onto highway ramps, from a stop light, etc. The Limited has every option, minus the navigation system. I'll get an add-on later

The 2005 Durango is much improved. I owned a fully loaded 1999 Durango and I was very disatisfied with all aspects of the vehicle--If I didn't purchase the extended warranty, I would have spent over $7000 in repairs. Apparently Dodge recognized the earlier Durango's design/performance/reliabilty problems and successfully redesigned the Durango to meet customer satisfaction. The 2005 Durango, with HEMI, is a steal. The ride, comfort, performance, and handeling are unmatched for the price.

This is the best vehicle i've ever owned. The only problem is the fuel tank needed to be replaced and they said this is starting to be a common thing with the new model so if you have one or are getting one get it checked out. Also, when you lay the back seat down it does not go flush with the floor. Other than that it drives great and has so much room you could get lost. Its very easy to drive for being so big and the gas is very good for such a big vehicle, especially for a 4wd. I've always been a ford girl but I think my taste has changed. This SUV is amazing and it will be hard to ever get me into anything else.

Great SUV to drive, has a tight turning radius and a very comfortable ride. The power of the HEMI is amazing (HEMI was not an option for this rating) and the acceleration gets you going. The DVD Player would do better with a few controls mounted lower like the AV ports and a parental lock on the player. The wireless headphones are so-so. The fold down seating is not flat and could use some work. So far we really like itÂ…except the 13.5 MPG in the city.

I've gone though several cars & I haven't been excited about buying a new car in about 10 years. I went with the "cheapie" model (SXT - no leather, no Hemi, no DVD player). I can't believe how nice this "cheap" model is. If you don't need the 3rd row seat, leather or DVD this is the way to go.

This is my first SUV but my fifteenth or so vehicle. I bought the absolute lowest end stripper model (only a trailer hitch added) and it is still quiet and well equipped. I wanted to be able to tow things and have towed a 1500 lb boat but just this weekend towed my son's Toyota (no, they don't run forever, either) 550 miles. It was very easy! with the 3.7 six, too. Mileage without Toyota: 22.3 MPG; with Toyota behind, 16.3 MPG. Lots of nice features for a trailer tower, too: a carpeted drawer in the back for hitches, balls and tools. Durango really is a bargain! and my wife loves to drive it, too.

We're previous Durango owners but the '05 Limited Hemi is a complete turnaround from the '03 we owned. It's comfortable, it's roomy, the DVD is a must have. The Navigation is awesome, the Sirius Satelite is great, and Dodge even pays for the 1st year! The Hemi is AWD. We have all of the options and don't regret it one bit. It rides smooth, handles great, looks sharp and WE LOVE IT! The gas mileage is ok being a previous V-8 owner. THe Hemi definetly adds a little more pizazz to the enitre package. It's fast and responsive on an open highway! We love it!! There are many more options, too many to name but all in all... WE HAVE THEM ALL!!! AND WE LOVE IT!!

After test driving many vehicles at many different price points, the Durango was the one. My local dealer, Naples Dodge, was great to deal with and the incentives were hard to pass up as well. My wife and I considered a mini-van, but in the end decided to go the SUV route. The Durango was a big part of our decision and we feel it actually drives better than SUV's costing much more. The Durango is the perfect size for what we wanted and has an incredible combination of power, braking, good turning radius, super quiet interior, very smooth ride, good feature content and reasonable price. Our Durango has almost every option and the navigation system really takes the Durango up a notch.

My children say "we look down on people in the cars we are big." I'm very proud of Chrysler/Dodge. They finally stepped up and made a large SUV. Keep up the good work.

My husband & I think our Durango is GREAT! I had my fill of the minivan, after having 3 of them! They served us well but it was time to move on! We had driven other SUV's and nothing compared to the ride we get from our Durango! It handles great, looks great and is fun to drive! On the negative side, it is a gas hog, especially with gas price high as it is now, but I think it is work it!

I fell in love with this SUV, the way it moves (I'M NOW A HEMI FAN) It has POWER! Its doesn't drag.I am a realtor so I drive this vehicle a lot of miles. The V8 engine was not a good choice for gas purposes but the fact that when I want to move out of the way of slow people, the power of this vehicle is amazing!

We need a large SUV with the kids and all . We purcased a Ford Expedition in late 2003 and it was the worst quality vehicle we have ever owned. After being in the shop more than home we traded the beast for a Dodge Durango. I must say the quality is perfect. The Dodge performs well and is a joy to drive. Living in New England it's all about handling in snow and adverse weather conditions and it's a true winner. On a recent long trip my kids didn't complain about comfort and truly enjoyed the superior DVD system (Ford's didnt work most of the time). If you're looking for an SUV don't buy until you check out the Durango!

We just switched over to the new Durango from a small convertible. I expected a lot of difficulty getting used to the much larger SUV, but instead I've found it handles like a smaller car and just happens to have all the leg/head room my 6"7' husband needs to ride comfortably. The acceleration is incredible. I never would've thought such a large vehicle could move so well. We got a base model with only a couple minor upgrades, but I still feel like I'm riding in class. The 6 CD changer is a great standard feature. The best part was the $8000 in rebates that made the price easier on the checkbook. When the lease is up I will definitely upgrade to the next model. I'm hooked!

The handling is great and I feel very safe towing my family around in this vehicle. I also love the fact that the ride is very smooth compared to many other SUVs where its very bumpy. Overall I'm happy with the purchase

I've found the new Durango to be a very pleasant riding vehicle (for an SUV), and it handles quite well despite its size. The design and construction being all new from the ground up since 2004 was one of the primary reasons I bought it. In a Road & Track review of the top SUV's (including the Armada and Pathfinder), Road & Track named the Durango number 1. The performance is rather impressive for a vehicle weighing in at 6000 pounds. I opted for the Hemi, and the motor has a great sound to it - not overly loud, but enough to let you know you have some beef under the hood. The fit and finish are pretty good and the layout of the controls, seating, and general space.

I really do enjoy driving the Durango. A couple of things that might have deterred me knowing what I know now- The cloth seats are easily snagged-must invest in seat covers or they will be shot! Secondly- It has proven to be very car seat unfriendly. Safest position is in the middle of the back seat, and this becomes a real problem with seatbelts, proper installment of the carseat, and anyone else who may be in the back as well, needing a seatbelt that can't be latched. Also, for the Durango with no 3rd row seating, there should be an option to move the 2nd row back further. No room for ANYONE to sit in back seats Including 3yr old in carseat! Totally out for an infant! Sleek appearance

This is the quietest, smoothest, most comfortable SUV I've ever owned. The serious grunt of the Hemi is like the cherry on the top of everything.

Excellent improvement over previous Durango. I traded a 2003 R/T and there is no comparison. Smooth ride, good seat comfort, great power, great handling, has every feature I could want on a vehicle. Poor MPG, but this was expected and it's no worse than comparable vehicles. The Hemi is worth the price. Still haven't warmed up to the front end styling, but the comfort and features overshadow any negatives. The back seat (second row) should be roomier for this size vehicle. Great vehicle overall.

This is the 3rd SUV I have owned and I like far better than the other two(1996 Explorer and 2001 Pathfinder). The ride is similar to that of a luxury car in terms of comfort and noise. The 3rd row of seats is actually easy to use and big enough for two adults. Overall I think it's a great vehicle.

For its cost, I think this is a very good vehicle. I have the Hemi engine and it has plenty of power for towing, etc., and the ride is exceptional for a AWD SUV. I love the "bluetooth" U- Connect phone option and the "Sirius" satelite radio. However, there are some things that bother me about it. The interior plastics look a little cheap and too dark. The leg room in the 2nd row is tight, especially in the center position, and I wish the the floor over the 3rd row would fold flat. I also miss the interior room of my old Yukon and having "Onstar" and daytime headlights. I've noticed the front door hinges appear to be loose, but they aren't, the atachment points are flexing for some reason.

I was initially captivated by the bold, muscular and clean curves of the vehicle. I took the vehicle for a test drive at the urging of my sales representative and before I made it onto the highway, my wallet started looking for a place to hide. It was time to bury my ambition to purchase another Nissan. I settled on the ST 4/2 with the 4.7 Magnum engine. It has the right blend of power and smooth acceleration. The interior is spacious and well appointed with the appropriate luxuries which include power windows, side mirrors, power locks and an AM/FM radio with CD.

I had owned a 2000 Durango and liked it very much. The only thing that I felt it needed was a smoother ride. Well all I needed to do was drive a new Durango and I was sold. What a sweet ride this truck has...more like a car then a truck. Great handling and it feels very nimble and quick. DidnÂ’t get the hemi engine but am very satisfied with the 4.7... it is a mighty fine engine! Plenty of get up and go for me and since I donÂ’t tow it is all the engine I need. Yes, like my other Durango the gas mileage could be better but I knew that buying an SUV. The interior is comfortable with excellent instrumentation. Love the way the gauges light at night; easy on the eyes! Wonderful vehicle!

With the 4x4 lock on the Durango cuts through the snow like a snowmobile. As far as gas mileage I have gotten over 18mpg on all highway and 14mpg in the city with the hemi; it depends on your driving style. I would recommend the Durango to anyone; Chrysler hit a home run on this suv.

We looked at all the SUV's and this is by far the best value. Don't let the sticker scare you, expect $8000 off with the rebates, etc. The vehicle is very comfortable for 6, its quiet, good manners, the DVD/sound system is awesome, the climate contol (front and rear) is flawless and the Hemi makes the thing go like a sports car. I bought a pimped out Limited for $32K and its under warranty for 70K miles. I think the fit and finish is superb, especially among american brands. Fold the seats down and there is tons of room, fits 4x8 sheets of plywood flat on floor, tows like 12,000 lbs. I am very happy with our choice.

The new Durango can fit anything from a sheet of plywood to 2 weeks worth of vacation luggage. Not only that but it pulls my boat like nothing is behind it. This is my 3rd Durango and I love it. The interior design is far superior to the Durango's of the past. Love the look of the vehicle from the front, but the rear leaves little to be desired. I've always had the upgraded V8 engine and I must say the HEMI hasn't brought the power that I expected. Although the response is good its just not what I've been accustomed to in previous models.

Nice looking SUV but we are having Airconditioning problems and Chyrsler nor the dealing can fix it. If you live in Alaska your okay but if you need air get some other SUV.
