The car is good for first few years until the repairs start coming in. So many issues where do I begin, bought the 04 Murano in 06. It ran good until it hit 100K. The engine started burning oil about a quart/week. No that't not normal. The suspension is the worst I have seen on any car. Every few months tie rods or control arm or something with suspension is going wrong. The stereo stopped working. The rear door latch has be greased every few months. The part/repairs are so costly it's like owning a BMW. Hard to work on because it's so hard to replace things in the engine. Bad Design on nissan's part. Not buying a Nissan again, especially due to their V6 burning oil. Such disappointment. Wipe blade linkage became lose and had to replace the whole motor. The leather is cheap and ripped. The good about the car, AWD.

Don't buy a MURANO!!!

We purchased our 04 SL AWD fully loaded Murano new in the summer of 04. We just traded in the car at 164,545 miles this summer (2014) so I can provide a comprehensive history on this car. Within a couple of years the "leather" drivers seat was cracking badly on the sides. We had to replace the steering rack, two power steering lines and a sensor, an oil cooler seal, countless tires because the car never aligned properly and would make tires very loud. By the time the car was 6 years old the rattles and switch failures, car locks etc started to add up. We traded it in with lots of small problems and an oil leak. This is our first and last Nissan. Stay away!!

Avoid High Mileage Used Murano's

Love the design and functionality of the Murano. Had Nissan and Infinity before and very reliable and economical to maintain. I put 200K on my earlier Nissans and they ran great. Not the case with Murano. I bought the Murano with 80K on it. Owner babied it and Murano maintained by dealer, all receipts. At 115K. CVT went bad. $4500 repair. Head gasket bad at 121k. Another $4500 repair. Numerous reports of transfer case failures as well as exhaust system repairs. Very expensive repairs. Recent problems with head gaskets on newer models also reported. Get extended warranties if you keep the car past dealer warranty period. Don't buy a first generation used Murano.

At 45,000 miles the Check engine light came on due to a bad Catalytic Convertor, not diagnosed correctly by dealer. Honeycomb in converter powered and was sucked into engine. Diagnosed correctly after the factory warranty ran out. At 68K miles it has scored the pistons which causes the engine to burn about 1 quart of oil every 500 miles. Would cost more to fix than car is worth. Driver side seat panels cracked and peeled apart. Car could not be aligned adequately.

Should have a mechanic as an option

Bought my 2004 new. Have put on at least 3 to 4 brakes, and 3 sets of tires. Currently has 170,000 miles and is stuck at the dealership, was towed there. Right now needs motor mounts, catalylic convertor, front brakes, burns oil, a trans leak (so the dealer says, I do not have any leak spots on the ground), four tires, a belt: $6,000. in parts and labor! Really? I just replaced the CV joint on the drivers side. 350.00, an independent friend replaced it, probably double price at a service station. Nissan dealership is basically telling me to junk the car, so I will buy a new one. They tell me the engine may be bad, the transmission may need to be replaced. Dealership is scary.

Purchased in 2004. Happy with the overall look and performance. Did not buy it for gas milege just wanted a safe vehicle for wifey. Check engine light stays on due to a bad Catalytic Convertor. Which in subsequent models was repaired. This causes the engine to burn oil because of particle blowback. The only sensible repair is a new engine. About 2-3 quarts every 2K miles. Driver side seat panels and arm rest cracked and peeled apart. During hot weather the door locks stick. Have to hold the unlock button and let the windows roll down to get in. The gas tank door opener stop working. I just disconnected from the system versus paying $300 for the part. Cannot wait to part with.

I just got my 2004 Nissan Murano at a cheap price with high miles a little over 140k but have been told for years since I was a teenager that Nissans are good cars and last for a long time. I never realized though that it would be so costly.. but its worth it. I get looks whenever I drive my truck and love it. I do need to replace the tires and its a bummer that I have to replace all four instead of just the usual one that I am used to. The best deal that I came across was from Walmart for $550.00 for all four. It drives smooth so far and no problems so far.. will keep posted. Of course a suv is gonna be more costly to keep up then a car but I have three kids so I need a suv

I will be brief. This vehicle is fun to drive no doubt. Once you get in for a test drive, you will buy this vehicle cos its so much fun to drive. The bad news is the cost of maintenance. You will spend a lot of time repairing this vehicle. Once it leaves the repair shop, do not ride this vehicle unless you are trying to know if the problems has been repaired or you are taking a new buyer on a test drive. Fail to heed my warning and you will fall in love with this vehicle again. Its like a woman you love, but you can't stand her naughty behavior. Buyers be warned. Exterior design is awesome! Interior is holding up very well. Vehicle has been very dependable for over 5 years. I love my Murano even after over 140,000 miles. Vehicle has not been perfect, but all things considered, thumbs up! Murano's are notorious for having front suspension issues, wheel bearings, etc... After 8 years, expect it, it's not too bad. Other minor issues, cable for tail gate had to be replaced. Shocks had to be replaced. That's about it :)

I was super excited about this pre-owned car, I bought it around 50K and I bought the extended warranty. HOLY CRAP, I'm glad I did. Here is a list of things that were fixed. Catastrophic Failures (covered by Warranty) Drive box - wouldn't go in reverse (Out 2 weeks) Transmission was rebuilt when the chain kept leaking which I guess is a common problem. (Out 1 week) Minor but extremely annoying: Door Actuator on the Drivers handle Windshield Wipers (twice fixed) CV Joint passenger side Struts after only 60K And a bunch of other crap I can't remember... Nissan fixed things, but as soon as the warranty ended, I sold this bad car. Now it's another Nissan dealerships problem.

I'm the original owner and mine has 109k mi on it. I'm sure the performance has dropped since I bought it but I can't tell. Still pushes me back in my seat when I want it to. Still purrs like a kitten with no major problems. I definitely not a OCD owner went it comes to maintenance. Change oil every 5-10k mi. It does burn oil to the tune of 1 qt. every 1500 mi which is probably due to a clogged intake manifold. I've always put in premium gas. Repairs incl. Alternator 95K, $700, Engine mount, 90k $400. Spark Plugs 100k $500, Repairs in the near future: Intake Manifold $900, Struts: $1000, Tie rods $400, Catalytic converter: $1000. Nothing pressing. Not bad for over 100k. Still looks cool too!

This suv has everything I was looking for and more! Highly recommended! Being 5'10" and crouching into a Civic killed by back so this is great! Decent gas mileage, but I didn't expect it to do wonders especially coming from a small car to a SUV.

I purchased a 2004 Murano SL AWD in 2008 with 34K miles. I purchased an extended warranty for 7/100000. All service was peformed aty Nissan dealership. The following items were fixed under warranty: 1) Driver seat - known problem 2) 2 engine mounts 3) oil gasket 4) tire rod Recently at 102K miles I replaced an engine seal for $300. A fuel consumption test detected that engine is burning 1 qt of oil every 1K miles. Last week, I had to tow Murano to dealership. The rear differential disintegrated. The cost to fix $2300. When delear replaced rear differential they noticed transfer case was ruined. The cost of repair $3500. Needless to say I would not recommend this car.

the quality of this car is horrible... evrything detaches, everything is glued even the piece over ur entry lock on the door, the visor on the passager goes bad, rusted by window area,the gas tank door like every other reviews goes bad so broke the lock because it will leave me stock at the gas station not knowing what to do to open it, now am facing major expeses to fix the whole front wheels breaking sistem including rotors and probably already damage the calipers.... again like many other reviews my motor mounts had to be replaced and cost me about 1000 dollars to fix, am just so ready to trade it but i feel really bad for the next person that would buy this thing called suv.

Was great from the start, great seat comfort, great handling, decent mileage, only problem was rattles all over. Nissan used cheap plastic materials. At 50,000 the front suspension began to have problems. First the right wheel bearings, axle,and tie rod had to be replaced. Now at 62,000 the same issues with the front left side. All issues with suspension are in the front. Murano rides hard, maybe this causes excessive wear on front suspension, still no excuse for this. Also front and rear motor mounts, dealer says need to be replaced, private mechanic says no. They cost $1000 to replace! No excuse for these problems on car with only 62,000 miles. Dealer uses hard sell to push service.

Great car, watch our for shortcomings

First thing I want to say is that this SUV handles better than a vehicle this large and high should. The interior space is good. This car is wider than most of the competition so that translates into passenger comfort. I am disappointed in the gas mileage department; in the city I am lucky to get over 14 mpg. On the highway I get about 19. The suspension is too stiff, a bad compromise between controlled ride and comfort. Good power. I loved the design of this car wind/road noise needs to improve, a softer suspension and the space between the front seats and console is a trap for dropped papers, coins and cell phones.

My wife and I wanted to get out of the minivan era. This Murano clearly stood out as the top contender for us. It handles very well in all conditions. Has good pickup including climbing hills. The seating is comfortable with the leather seats and touring package. We average about 10k per year and mileage has been acceptable with about 20-21 mpg avg. This car is an eye catcher when its all polished up. Trouble is we can't get more than 30K out of a set of tires. Bose cd is great if it works. Sun visors are a real problem, replaced 4 of them so far. Engine mount cracked. Has been costly to maintain. CVT has performed well but high in maintenance.

2004 NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS

I bought this car used last year with relatively low miles for an 04, 42K. Problems: gas cap won't open - I finally just broke off the piece that locks the cover. Window rattles when down and radios is on with bass. Half of the stereo channels go out when you hit a bump and are playing a CD. Can't push defrost button in cold weather, only option is floor & defrost. Rear caliper went bad, ruined rotor, brake job and rotor and caliper with a warranty still cost $500. Now it's in the garage for problems with the front end when turning. Also have rear latch that works sometimes sticks most times. Very, very disappointed with the quality. Friends all said get the Nissan, should NOT have.

Test drove the Highlander and Pilot and Murano, and we fell in love with the Murano. It was the best deal for all the features we wanted. It handled well and we loved the look - a prototype for other crossover SUVs to follow/copy. Unfortunately, car has had some major issues. Front control arms/transverse links went bad- $1000, the driver visor has been replaced and went bad again (design defect)- $350, front motor mount - $500, AC stinks- blows smelly socks air due to poor condensation drainage design, oil cooler seal, premium fuel.

I bought my Murano new in 2004. I have had zero problems with it after 93,000 miles. All service was done at my local dealership, and their service has been excellent, but perhaps a little pricey. I drive mostly highway and consistently get 22.5 to 23 miles per gallon, which was as advertised. I comfortably fit 4 men and 4 sets of hockey equipment in it. Recently, Nissan extended the warranty on the drivetrain, to 10 years 100,000 miles (transferable). There were two or three recalls which I did not experience personally but were performed on the car.

I absolutely love my Murano. I'm kind of bummed at the moment though, because apparently my timing chain needs to be replaced, and the shop I got it priced at is wanting to charge me a whopping $2,100... (And of course this happened a convenient 900 miles AFTER the warranty expired). Great car, but horrible fixing costs.. And of course every Nissan dealership I've ever been to has the most money-hungry people I've ever met.

I had been dying to buy a new GMC Acadia but when I saw the Murano in the used lot with leather and in my price range I had to have it. I love how the engine picks up and goes, and how it can make sharp turns. It's small enough to park anywhere I want and I don't feel like I'm driving a boat but it's high enough for me to see out (since I'm short). It's a good family vehicle and I'm glad that I found it.

Do Not Buy Nissan

At 59,151 my transmission went out. The Murano has a very expensive CVT transmission and I was told the repair would cost over $6,000. The transmission should have been covered under the powertrain warranty (60 months, 60k miles) -but I was apparently 1 month past the 60 month mark. Nissan jerked me around for 2 weeks pretending they might honor the warranty (while I racked up rental car bills) but in the end they made it quite clear they did not care about me or the vehicle they built. After reading about other problems with the CVT, I think a recall is in order, but Nissan doesn't care.

Decent car until things start breaking

We've owned our Murano for 6 years now and have had quite a few problems. The alternator failed at about 20k, one of the speakers has cut out randomly since about 40k, and I have gone through many sets of tires since I bought the car. I now have 100k on this vehicle and it has been in the shop more times then I would have liked. Fuel economy is unimpressive at 17-18 city and low 20s on the highway. I recently had the timing belt and front wheel bearings replaced. Noticed a burning smell inside and Nissan dealer said everything's fine. Probably won't be buying another car from Nissan.

After religious oil changes, my beloved Murano has begun to burn oil, 7qts per 3000 miles. Needs new engine, it seems. Very disappointed in the longevity of this car. Would not buy another.

04 Murrano issues

I have over 100,000 miles and really enjoyed driving the Murano until the little issues that have occurred over the time of driving. The alternator replaced (free do to recall). The driver side sun visor does not stay in place which a number of owners have wrote about. The cost to repair is about $350 for just the sun visor. The lock on the fuel tank stop functioning, the motor to adjust the seats on the driver side stop functioning. The front and right side motor mounts went bad ($1000 to repair). The motor mount issue is apparently with all Nissan vehicles. The vehicle is a great looking design, CVT engine is nice feel, and overall a good design.

I love the car. I had a few problems with it at first. The CD changer (single cd) was changed 3x before it would stop eating cd's. The steering controls stopped working and a fuel injector went out after 1 month. Not major since the car had 55k miles when purchased. Some controls feel cheap. The gas tank door would not unlock, door locks sometimes stick. I haven't had any problems in the last 10 months. very pleased, not so pleased with the customer service at the dealership but it's getting better. They do not take care of the car, several scratches on the dash and radio due to their carelessness during service.

I have only had my Murano for a year and a half since buying it as a used vehicle. I have already had to replace the controlling arms, tie-rods, and muffler. Now I have found out that there is an engine problem and will require around $3000 to $4000 to fix. I am highly disappointed and will not purchase another Murano. There should not be this many problems with a car before you hit 100,000 miles.

Bought the Nissan used, only 2 years old and 32,000 miles on it, transmission went out 2 days later. Now just over 2 years on that tranny and it's out. Nissan wants $5500 for a rebuilt transmission. The other 40+ cars in my close family are all American, so they are having fun with the "I told you so's". After a year of chemo and radiation it's the last thing I needed, can't afford to fix it so it sits on a trailer while I continue to get rides to work and make a payment on it.

This was my first brand new car. Bought Nissan because of reliability. Have been sorely disappointed in quality of car. Have had to replace both front door locks (quit unlocking) windshield (mirror came off with a chunk of windshield with it) Bose 6-CD player quit after 2 years. Now some of the display on radio doesn't work. Driver's side visor falls down 20 times a day & is now velcroed to the headliner. Lost one of the black inner fenders somewhere.One of the little trays in console no longer opens. Driver's seat rocks & moves when you start & stop. Local dealer "has never heard of any of these problems before with a Murano". I'm trading it off ASAP.

I bought a 2004 Nissan Murano back in 2006, since then I have had a list of problems and issues with it. I dropped the transfer case at 62,000 miles... Since my warranty ended at 60,000 I had to fight to get the dealer to pay for it, or it would have been a $6400 fix... Also, the Murano eats Wheel Barrings! At least once a year I am replacing the barrings.. If that wasn't enough to deter you, try mysterious rattles in the dash and door, Hatch handle works when it wants to and gas mileage is not great. The Murano is a very "pretty" cross over SUV, but the mechanical issues far out-weigh the positives on this one. Do not waste your money buying one or your time repairing it.

At 72,000 miles the transfer case cracked, a $4,100 repair. I agree with user nutmeg a vehicle this expensive should not have a $4,100 repair before $100,000 miles. Nissan customer service is terrible, very condescending and useless. I WILL NEVER BUY NISSAN AGAIN! This is the second lemon from Nissan I have purchased, I'm done. Nissan even issued a technical service bulletin regarding how to fix the transfer case and it is w/ 2005 specifications. They should have issued a recall. Nissan is in the business of selling cars but not building customer relationships. This will eventually catch up with them. Repeat customers are what keeps companies in business.

This was our 3rd and last Nissan. First 2 were awesome then came the Murano. Starting at 75k miles everything went sour. 2 sensors, 2 motor mounts, cat converter, power locks plus small things had to be replaced. I got no help from Nissan's customer service. Cat converter went 500 miles after warranty and got no help thru Nissan. After 4k+ in repairs, I finally dumped it and will never buy another Nissan. Buyer beware, do your research very carefully. I got rid of mine before the CVT failed, that would have been another $5k.

Bought this car used and have had problems with the rear latch on a continuous basis. Actuator and latch were replaced and is still a problem. Had transmission problems that involved the gas peddle to stick which was covered under warranty at 60K. Gas mileage averages 19 MPG using high test and goes down if using reg. unleaded.

Knowing Nissans the way I do I expected better. The drive was great in the beginning aside for the alternator issue which almost caused me to have a serious accident. I am continuing to be surprised by the amount of mechanical problems I'm encountering; I'm starting to think it may be a lemon with a little sugar on top. Easy and Fun to drive. Get alot of questions/comments from others wanting know, if it is as fun to drive as it looks. Like the futurist look. Like the exterior color (Pearl), interior color (Tan) and the way it still looks like new. Easily fits 4 large men. Comfortably seats 2 large/tall men/women in front and 3 average size adults in back. Back storage is large. I loved my Murano and had the ability to overlook a major headlight issue at 40,000 mi because of the drive and comfort. Now, at 85,000 mi I am facing AWD transfer case issues which are due to a control panel flaw. The transfer case is susceptible to cracking because of control panel. Nissan fixed the problem in 05 models and on, but will recognize that there is no issue with my car. I have been extremely disappointed with the way Nissan has treated me through this ordeal. Such an expensive car should NOT have $5000 in repairs before 100k miles, very disappointed in reliability.

This has been 1 of the best vehicles I've owned over the past 20 yrs. Never had any major problems with it. Gas mileage is decent for the size (20 mpg) and I can fit 2 German Shepherds in the back without folding down the rear seats.

I just bought this used Murano w/nav for the wife and love it! For an '04 it was in great shape. The nav is pretty cool (wish it was voice activated). Put on chrome wheels for the wife and it looks much better with them. I have had decent luck with Nissan so I hope that continues. Looked at the RX330 but for the money this was the best deal.

Love the vehicle, flashy, quiet, rides great. Nice features, good layout. Overall, the best car I have owned. Road noise is almost non existent, stereo is awesome (Bose), back lighting in the dash is JUST OK. Really handy is the automatic control setups for two drivers, press 1 and it's the wife's configuration, and 2 for mine. All sets automatically, excluding steering wheel. Love that feature. Seperate air controls for both drivers, very nice! Added 3rd party device to get MP3 player to work with stereo, but it's great to press Sat and use whatever I want to plug in to it (includes XM radio) without using FM. Very happy with vehicle. Gas mileage and having to use SUPER unleaded stinks.

I say this because my own mother has a 1994 Maxima which hasn't had near the amount of problems that my 2004 Murano has had. Power seat died once, visor stopped staying up, and I have been to the dealer 3 times to fix a rattle in the door, an issue which has a service bulletin out for it. And yet, they have been unable to fix it. Loved the vehicle when I first bought it, but have started to hate it!

I bought this car because I needed something that was roomy enough for a family of 4 but powerful enough to handle my mountain+freeway commute. I love it! Much sportier drive than an SUV or minivan. I like the CVT - very smooth. I get about 18-19 mpg on 87 octane gas and I'm a somewhat aggressive driver. I'm baffled by people who claim to own the vehicle but complain about the looks of it... so why did you buy it? Personally, I love the looks of it. I also like the fact that Nissan didn't try to cram in a 3rd row. The whole vehicle is much roomier as a result. Mine's fully loaded and even then, much less expensive than comparable Lexus, BMW, Volvo, or even VW.

Changed oil and filter at 5000 miles, rotated tires every 10,000 miles plus visual checks such as cabin filters etc. Looking forward to a another 100,000 miles of care free ride. Safety issues with this car. Towed twice for different problems. The transmission had to be replaced. Had to replace front wheel bearings. The alternator bracket broke and split the alternator cable (this one year after an alternator recall).

My wife and I found out that she was pregnant, we were thrilled. The Murano surpassed all of our expectations, and Douglas Nissan of Henderson, NV gave us a great deal on a well kept 2004. we never had a problem and it felt and drove like a high end sports car. I loved the SUV, on December 5th, 2006 my mother and 8 month old daughter were hit by a lincoln doing 90+ mph, the thing is not only were the lives of two of the three most important women in my life saved, they were left nearly unscathed. My girl had a little glass in her car seat thanks to the rear passenger air curtains. My mother and daughter were taken to the hospital and discharged a few hours later. Best buy for their lives!!

The Murano is a very good vehicle, unfortunately it could have been a great vehicle. Very poor interior design, the dash instrumentation is some kind of cream, off yellow color. It should have been a brilliant white. The Bose stereo is very hard to use, too many button to look at while driving, very confusing and not all that great of sound quality. Performance is outstanding, fuel mileage is acceptable. The roof rack is a joke, no cross bars came with the vehicle, Nissan wants to sell them to you separately!! Very cheap of them I think!

The Nissan Murrano is a unique vehicle. This vehicle not only stands out in a croud, but it's performance is truly unequalled. I have found that the CTV definantly makes the difference both in fuel economy and performance. In addition, I constantly have to check the speedometer. With no shifting "kicks" this vehicle will just get up and go, this is alot of weight to move, and it does it superbly. This is not a 300 or 350Z, but I tell you, once it is going it is gone.... The controls and instruments are set just right for the reach. I enjoy the steering wheel controls, they are awesome. I'm sure the designers will have a heck of a time trying to replace it with future models.

I have been looking for a nicer SUV that can handle all of the weather variations that Montana has to offer. I found it in a used Murano and purchased it a few hours later. I know that there are alot of people that wish to get better gas mileage with this vehicle. Given the size, I think that it gets as good of mileage as one can expect. I have family members with a toureg and they only get 15mpg in town. I am averaging 19 mpg. Great ride, sound accel. and no lurching during shifting. It is not a vehicle that I would take baja'ing but it will take us to the ski mountains and almost anywhere else we need to go. In all it is everything that I could expect from an SUV but even more.

In addition to being extremely functional, with the fold-down rear seats the Murano is an excellent cross between a much-fun-to-drive sedan and a handy cargo carrier. Very comfortable seating, which is important to me because my wife has severe scoliosis; when we look at a new car, the first thing she's interested in is the comfort level of the seats. If its not comfortable for her twisted back, forget it!!! We look elsewhere. BTW, she has a '92 Maxima which we got new from the same dealer and she loves it. I've found no faults in either car and will not-doubt buy another when the time comes. And, oh yeah, the service from our dealership is AAA.

Love to drive this SUV. Responsive and good looking however it has become the most unreliable vehicle that I have ever owned. Bearing froze on idler pully causing it to fail, fly apart and damange engine components. Then transfer case for 4WD failed. Two tows in two consecutive months all with 22,000 miles. Add to this the air duct design flaw of being too close to the engine therefore always blowing warm air through the vehicle even when outside temperatures are 70 degrees. Also, when car has more than two people in it the ride feels as if there are no shock absorbors. Even with these deficiencies, I have recommended the car to others.

I'm thrilled with my murano. Ride is smooth and it is easy to manuver. I get lots of compliments. Bought the car used and got a good deal. Back seat ride is bumpy. Only problem is the key. I have had to take it to the dealer 4 times to get the key reprogrammed. The car at times does not start, it will turn over and eventually start. Dealer states key is sensitive and should not be kept next to magnetic items (i.e. credit cards, etc).

The 2004 Maurano in my opinion is one of the best looking vehicles on the road today.It's a real kick to drive because of it's responsiveness. The issues that I have with this vehicle are from an overall engineering standpoint. They are... 1.Outside vented air is heated to 80 degrees because duct work was positioned too close to the engine. 2. When more than two adults are in the car, the suspension reacts as if there are no shock absorbers. With 24,000 mi., the idler pully shattered piercing the lower radiator hose. Next, the AWD transfer mechanisim failed breaking the housing and dumping all of its oil. The positive thing about the above two items is they were covered under warranty

I purchased this vehicle to replace my wife's Jeep Cherokee. She loved the styling. Compared to the truck like handling characteristics of the Jeep, the Nissan Murano is very smooth, with plenty of power. It handles very well on the highway, even in a heavy cross wind. Thus far we've only needed routine maintenance. There was nothing that needed to be fixed by the dealer after delivery.

I love my 2004 Murano! I feel very safe driving it. I was a little hesitate of buying an SUV but needed more room than a car provided. After seriously considering the Lexus 330,including several test drives, I found the Murano to be an excellent choice price & quality. The Murano just "felt good to drive" It did not drive like a SUV at all. I felt very comfortable & w/ adjustable seats (so many settings) I was not sitting high & didn't get the feeling of driving a truck. I LOVE IT!

The Murano steers with ease even with the 18" tires and glides along without any sense of shift change. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The only difficulty is with the front and rear vision because of the design of the windows front and back. Other than that I would buy this car over again.

I LOVE this SUV. Wanted one for 2 years and I still pinch myself each time I walk up to it. Good acceleration, good ride (SE)! Corners and drives like a sports car, but will go through 14" inches of snow and climb curbs if needed. Bose radio is outstanding. Heated seats great in winter. Adjustable pedals and seat make it comfortable for short (5'3") women to drive and don't have to hop into it. Super vehicle. NOT DISAPPOINTED at all!

I love this car - it's not so massive as some of the larger SUVs, but it's high enough to be able to have a good view of traffic and has enough inside room to transport lots of different items. The only drawback is the fuel economy. When I purchased the vehicle, I was getting about 19 or so m.p.g., however, ever since my alternator was replaced in the recall (I know, it isn't supposed to have anything to do with m.p.g.), my mileage has gone down to around 17 m.p.g. and my driving habits haven't changed. I had my 15,000 mile service completed - no change!

I have purchased an '04 SL w/16000 miles. So far a a month of ownership I did not encounter any problems. I love the CVT it makes for a smooth ride. The acceleration is above avarage for an SUV but stability on turn is not as I would hope for. The MPG is slightly lower than stated in documents but not bad for this type of enigne. Dont like the front instrument panel (looks like something out of a "future car" movies) but everything else looks comforting. Side nerf of step bars will give it a more sporty look.

Great vehicle! Bought the SUV primarily for wife to drive...but I think I need one too! Great looking, great performance, feels like I am driving a car in terms of acceleration and ride. Bought the car used after much reseach and got a good deal on this '04. Only 18,000 miles when purchased at dealer, and it looks (and smells new still. Nissan did a good job with this SUV.

Our 1 yr new Murano has broken down 4 times starting at 10K miles. The service engine light comes on & the car loses power while driving. We had the recall repaired on the car & still had more issues. Each time it stopped running our 1 yr old was in the car in a near accident situation. Our dealership was rude & unhelpful. The service dpt at Nissan said something different was wrong with it each time & ensure that it will never happen again. Not true, it's happened 4 times. Totally unacceptable! I fear for the safety of my family in this car. Up until this happened we loved the car. So disappointed. Now we have claims filed with Nissan & the state.

Our murano with every extra included is the best ride for the buck. Great styling, handling and economical too. This is a long time keeper. My wife likes the adjustable pedals and personalized seat postions. I wish the back hatch was available with power opening. We would buy another.

This is the most fun drive since my old Honda Prelude in '80. Quality of build is top notch, it does everything I ask even recreating the Cabot Trail Advertisement this year! Did fine off road on mountain trails, smooth ride, plenty of power. Center console is a bit awkward and the engineers should have included Mph/Kph conversion on the English/Metric Converter! Dont understand why no running lights on US models, just a cheap relay. Huge room in the back seat, enormous leg room in the front. This SUV is awesome, like driving a luxury car that goes like heck and pushes through snow like its nothing. Safe and steady and Fast, wish heated cloth seats were available. I'd buy it again.

I have owned this Murano now almost 1 year and I must say I have had trouble! the interior back door panels had to be stuffed with foam @ the dealer to prevent rattle noise. The car has had 1 recall (altenator) and now just today I had a breakdown defective transmission. I probably will not see my car for a week, but I guess that can be a good thing. What else can go wrong? I will be going back to Honda or Toyota maybe even American. When this car drives it is nice, I like to say it feels like riding on glass, and it is comfortable but I do not tolerate breakdowns. Good luck I hope my narrative helps.

This vehicle has had nothing but regular maintenance for 30k miles. Compared to my previous vehicles (Audi A4, Porsche 944) maintenance costs are insignificant. The seats are roomy and comfortable, although I prefer a more snug fit. Overall quality is excellent. My combined city/highway mileage is about 20mpg - not great but tolerable.

Judging by the looks I assumed I coudn't afford this vehicle. When I saw one at the dealership I was amazed. There is nothing else with comparable amenities / performance / style in this class. My ideal vehicle is a VW Toureg w/ V10 diesel, but this is close for now and only lacks slightly in overall build quality and cost about 20K less!

What caught my eye was it's exterior appearance. I was sold when I got into it and test drove it. I've had it for almost 1 year and I love it. We also own a 2002 Cadillac Deville DHS which we love. The Murano although much higher is almost an equal to our Caddy on the highway. Road handling is great, the acceleration is wonderful, it's comfortable, it has very good cargo space. It's easy to get in & out, has great features.

This was my first brand new car and I love it. Smooth, comfortable ride. Looks great, handles well, big and versatile enough to haul plenty of gear but luxurious enough to look great while doing it. I actually get 22 mpg by doing mostly highway driving, but accelerating slower than I used to - it's actually made me a better driver - the mpg declines sharply over 70 mph. This car has everything I was looking for. It handles like a nice car, rides high, smooth, comfortable interior, great extras. I can't say enough.

Bought 6 Mo. ago, Love the car, no problems, I use regular gas, Avg. about 20 M.P.G., highest on the Hyw, was 24.7, From other reviews here, I noticed some people do not read the owners book, before they complain about things, like "the seat gets caught on the seat belts when folding them down!" (There are clips to hold the belts out of the way!!}, Reading the book solves a lot of knit picking. If you like the car GO FOR IT. I never looked back!!!! I added the wood interior, people really like the class look of it.

Awesome vehicle. The handle is superb for an SUV. The Bose Stereo is more than adequate. The only problem I've noticed so far in the 5 months that I've owned the vehicle is a rattle every now and then when I hit bumps. I have not been able to pin point it nor has the rattle been consistent enough for me to take it to the dealership for repair. I haven't been on very long road trips as of yet, but it seems that it would be challenging to maintain a high degree of comfort on bumpy roads. Just my opinon.

Great vehicle. Very comfortable as I drive about 1000 miles a week. Better value than other major competitors. Hung with Porsche Cayenne (base model) running 115 mph in mountains of North Carolina, with ease. After 45,000 miles not the first problem with it.

Very comfortable cabin. Seats are very comfortable. Auto climate control is one of the best I have used. Dashboard has a couple of rattles, but no other quality issues have come up. Has great midrange power...accelerating from 40 to 60, etc. Off the line acceleration is fine, but average. This car has great ability to haul passengers and cargo. It is very versatile and just plain comfortable. I originally wanted a Dodge Magnum with the big motor. Although I still wish I had the big motor, this car does too many things "right" for me to look back now. I am very happy with my selection. Also looked at the Saturn VUE, but it is really not in the same league as the Murano.

I spent a few months reading reviews, comparing vehicles, and doing research on this and other crossover autos. I picked the Murano SE AWD (loaded) because it was the best value of them all. Good price, great ride and handling (down to the thick steering wheel), great comfort (heated seats & mirrors, auto everything, reclining rear seats), best rated engine many years running (same V-6 Nissan uses across its platforms, ITS BULLETPROOF). Most of the negative things I read were about ride, milage and CVT performace. Ride is stiff like a SE should be, gas Milage average for my first year was 17.9, and CVT is smooth (but different so that scares people). I now prefer CVT over a standard auto

This car is a dream! I just traded in my Nissan XTerra for the Murano. We loved the XTerra but this feels like I am driving a Cadillac which just happens to be an SUV. In Alaska where we are, handling on ice & snow are primary for us with a vehicle. This couldnt handle better. The heated seats are a plus too, along with the dual climate control for both front seat passangers to be comfortable. The sleek design leaves me looking back at my car each time I park it to see how beatiful it really is. The back seat is so roomy for passangers, along with the fact they recline also makes it a great driving experience for all.

When I first saw a Murano cruising down the freeway I knew I wanted to own one. The Murano mixes class and sportiness all in one package. It almost resembles the Lexus RX type SUV's (My first choice) but cost much less. I use to drive a 2000 Eclipse but thanks to a timing belt problem I ended up driving my very first SUV, my Nissan Murano 04. It drives like a dream and the interior is so comfortable it almost feels like I'm driving a Lexus. I'm loving this car! I only had a problem with the drivers window automaticaly opening half way after I close it all the way up. This happened on my first day. I immediately brought it to my dealer were it was fixed asap.Did anybody else have this problem?

With three growing boys and many weekend road trips, we really appreciate the roominess and power. They are all headed toward six feet tall and have no complaints. Also, the side curtain airbags give me peace of mind. My husband loves the horsepower, and sometimes leaves his BMW in the garage. The acceleration, even fully loaded and uphill, is very responsive and satisfying. I understand the average gas mileage (18.8) is good for an SUV. I chose the Murano over the Lexus because of the better gas mileage, better turning radius, sportier ride, and much lower price.

BMW X-5 performance, Porsche Cayenne looks, and all for a fraction of the price...way to go Nissan! This SUV crossover smells and looks like success. The CVT transmission may lack 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, but I was not buying a sportscar. I wanted comfort and practicality and if this is what you seek, you will love this vehicle as I do. By far, this was the best car decision I ever made. Douglas Nissan in Huntington Beach made this an awesome car buying experience and I can't say enough about the SE AWD Murano!

I drove several vehicles from a variety of dealerships but after I test drove the Murano, I was sold on its exceptional ride and available options. The Pathfinder, 4Runner, Trailblazer, and Explorer are no competition for the Murano. The Murano costs more than those vehiles but its well worth it. The body style is similar to the Lexus but without that price. I love driving my Murano and its so classy that I can go anywhere and get second looks...

I am very pleased with my 2004 Murano. The first week I had my new murano I thouhgt I would go out at night to see the appearance of the head lights. Well, I shut the door, with the car still running. When I tried to get back in, the door had locked me out. I had to call road service and the auto dealership. The dealership sent someone to open the door. I took it back to have this fixed. It was not repaired and I was told that maybe I was hitting the lock by accident(duh!) Well now I still have the problem, but I am not going to take my SUV all the way there to be told that this is a flaw with this model. I have to make sure I have my keys at all times. This is a poor feature.

I can't say enough positive things about the Murano. It is beautifully designed, inside and out. I don't have the need for a third row seat, so the Murano was perfect for me. The great thing about the back seat is that 3 tall adults can ride comfortably with plenty of leg and head room. The back seat even reclines for long road trips. There is plenty of cargo space and the back seats (40/60 split) fold down with zero effort because there are two handles located in the rear cargo area that you simply pull to lower the seats. The interior is very spacious and the exterior design is so eye- catching. The engine is smooth and quiet and the handling is solid. Great fuel economy.

Having to choose between the 2004 Maxima and the Murano I picked the later because of it's styling, comfort and features. Although I ordered a basic model it nevertheless came with all the features I desired. Friends were surprised at the spaciousness and comfort of the back seats. Despite that the ride can be somewhat stiff on bumpy roads, the seat comfort off sets this drawback to a great extent. Like many SUVs the Murano suffers from blind spots that were difficult to get used to after driving an Altima for six years. Highway driving is a dream. It manages well and the gas/milage is great for an SUV. I've driven New York - Washington, 245 miles, on half a tank, which I consider good

If this suv were a man, I'd leave my current husband and marry it! Only problem I have is that the drivers side mirror takes time to get use to. Even though the seats are adjustable, I'l only 4'11 so the mirror poses an obstruction, trust me, a small price to pay for this GREAT suv. Not a day goes by where my Murano greats mouth opened wide eyed stares. I CONSTANTLY get questioned about it.

I attend the auto show every year and when I say the 2003 Murano for the first time I knew this was the vehicle for me. I wanted an SUV this time. I had a Toyota Camry XLE for ten years I brought new. I loved that car but, when I say the Murano I wanted it. It has style, pick up and looks. I have had my vehicle for over a year now and I am completely satisfied except for gas mileage is not quite what I would like it to be, but you can't have everything.

The Murano is ideal vehicle where 4WD is only needed for trips in and out of higher elevations in winter. I have not noticed any drop in performance with the convertible transmission as the use is usually on slippery roads and slower speeds and less power requirements are the rule not the exception.

I'd fall in love with the murano since april 03 at the new york auto show, finally bought it in july 04, I constantly compare this car with my 01 pathfinder LE and find nissan really had came a long way, sure foot of fwd, rear ventilated disc brake, limo like interior space, daul auto climate control, 18" wheel; green house feel for the front passengers(test drive the FX than you know what I mean), too bad I could only drive it on the weekend.(the wife always gets the new cars if you know what I mean)

I test drove the Honda Pilot, Saturn Vue, Chrysler Pacifica, Suburu Outback, Audi Quattro, and Infiniti (and had been driving a passat wagon). This is the best value in its class for both price and handling when looking for a wagon/smaller SUV. It is almost the same as the Infiniti in design and handling, but about $10,000 less. I like the lower to the ground SUV. It is not boxy like some of the others and dosn't get pushed around in the wind. It handles great and has many nice interior features. Thus far, I have no significant issues with the car and my wife loves driving it.

Mine is a 2003 and was the second sold at the dealer. Other than some minor issues, it has been perfect. Much roomier that it appears. Drive great and the gas milage is tons better than my old SUV (Old Bravada)

True sports truck! No problem taking curves hard. Love the manual shift on the SE. CVT is ultra smooth. Interior room is great. Poor man's BMW X5 and I don't mind being with this one.
