I bought my 2004 sonata used for only 4500! It now has 212,000 miles on it and runs awesome and has never left me stranded. The only thing ive had to do to it is a tune up, oil changes, changing of head lights and tail lights. I had to buy new tires after 2 years and a starter for it but thats it. It may sound like a lot but it was just regular maintenance that it needed. Never had any other problem with it. It just started making a creaking noise and i think its my cv axles that need replaced but i wouldnt trade this car for a new one because the space in the car is amazing i think and the new cars have to much technology in them and are compact cars that look big and bulky. Ill keep my 2004 hyundai sonata till it wont drive anymore! Hope this helps.

My hyundai belonged to my dad before he gave it to me. He bought it new and it has never had any major issues. Just did regular maintenance. The only thing I don't like is the headlights don't seem To be very bright! But other than that I love the car and it's always been really reliable. Just watch out for the timing belt, because of the interference engine. Don't replace it late. Other than that the car is amazing and has never failed me. Already has 190000 miles on it and runs beautifully.

For sure the head lights have a problem with having to be replaced. I also had to have the steering assembly replaced at over $1000. Now after 14 months it is starting to leak again and makes a buzzing noise due to that. I've never owned a car where I had to replace such a component. Not happy about this at all.

I bought my Sonata with 17,000 miles on it. It now has 204,000 miles and it's still going strong. It has never once left me stranded, and I've only had to do the usual car maintenance: brakes, tires, tune up, etc. I have been meticulous about oil changes every 3,000 miles. The interior is still in great shape, and it continues to be a comfortable ride, still. Truly the best car I've ever owned. My only complaint is that it's not the greatest in terms of gas mileage.

I've had this car for about 6 years now. It has never let me down. Not long after buying it, I rear-ended an old truck that should have, in all honesty, torn things up. The car started right back up and has been running flawlessly ever since. I've never had a bad belt and, unlike my Ford, a broken a/c compressor doesn't affect engine performance. The serpentine belt started squealing a little shortly before the alternator went dead earlier this year, but I suspect a squeaky pulley rather than the belt. There is plenty of power and handles very well. I trust it to keep me and my family safe on the road, within reason.

Reliable, but has little else going for it.

Despite check engine lights, awful squealing from the serpentine belt, and a transmission fluid leak that prompted an emergency repair (shifts smoothly years later), this car has NEVER failed me. That said, there are issues. Constant rattling from interior trim pieces. Serpentine belt squeals despite several repairs. A headlight that is prone to failure. The 2.4 I4 has that wonderful combination of disappointing gas mileage and a deficit in power, and it shakes quite a bit. Handling is somewhere between Buick and BMW. But all in all, if you just need reliable transportation and don't mind getting the heck annoyed out of you, by all means get it. Certainly cheaper than alternatives.

yay i bought a car...

Got my Sonota because of consumer reviews saying how much they all loved there car. Not the case with me. Took it off the lot and cerpintene belt immediatley started squiling, something not right with ignition(car hesitates),speakers started ratelling and check engine light came on. Repaired the cerpentine belt twice only for the d*mn thing to start squeling again. Decided to deal with it till driving to work one morning and com sensor went (took hyundai 3 days to figure out). 29 day mark of ownership, had the car taken to the dealership. oh ya, was very comfortable to drive, an only 60,000 miles.

Bought my 2004 Sonata 4cyl base model used in 2006 with 24K miles. My car currently has 138K miles and still going. No major work needed. Biggest repair was the cv/boot from all the speed bumps I went over. This cost about $600. Also needed a new engine mount at about 100K miles. I get 25MPG city and 31MPG on long trips. The other drawback is the paint job. Very peeled, but not worth repairing for a 7 year old car. They make good cars.

Fuel pump has failed 3xs sense ownership at 50k. The water pump went out at 100,000 which destroyed the pistons, brand new timing belt and the heads. Now I have a brand new Hyundai (joy). The car looks brand new after having the hubcap and door handles painted. Ride and comfort is fine but overall not impressed

I love this car - it's a keeper!

I can't say enough about my Sonata. It's dependable, reliable and simply a great looking car. I saw someone driving this car in 2004, walked into my credit union back inquired on this vehicle and said exactly what I wanted and I got it 2 days later. Never test drive this car, first time ever doing that when purchasing a car! Best thing I ever did and have not regrets either. I plan on buying another Hyundai but I do plan to keep my Sonata. It too had a paint chip in the door handles and a radiator replacement but overall it's an outstanding car. I have had this car 6 years now and approximately 190,000 miles. Imagine that! Longest I ever owned a car with that many miles.

Best Sonata that Hyundai has ever made!

I have had this car for about a year and a half, and I love it. The only downside is city mileage. I love the style inside and out. Inside, the mahogany wood grain complements the interior nicely. Plus, the body style has an expensive look to it. It is silver, which to me is the best color of all the 04 Sonata's. It's sleek, sporty, and rather fast surprisingly. I have the V6 2.7L, which delivers a lot of power and speed. It may be six years old, but she still runs like a champ. I Love this car, and I hope to get another 100,000 thousand miles out of her.

Love this car. Also own Lincoln Town Car. 72,900 on it now and have only replaced the headlights (3 times) but I drive with them on all the time. Bought it 2 yr old with 18,000 miles and it has not whimpered one time. Car cruises at 75-80 on a regular basis, the ac is always cold, suspension is tight and I have only replaced tires and a battery. Use it as the community car when company comes and they love it. Even the BMW and Audi owner. The car is heavy for its size and hugs the road. Did a 3500 mile road trip without fail, no issues. It gets about 26 mpg and growls when you really romp it.

This is my first car and i love it! But i have a few problems. The caps for the fogs lights come off real easily. I have a check engine light on for a cylinder 3 misfire. The emergency brake barely works, the headlights don't last long. The power steer is shot. The power antenna doesn't work. But it is an extremely reliable car. I plan to own it for a long time. I would recommend this car to anybody.

I have a 100 mile commute to work. This is primarily driven on a Interstate. Nothing has been replaced on the car except for the air conditioner condenser, because a rock punctured the original. As of today I have 119,000 on the car and still enjoy it like it was new. My next car is going to be the Sonata Hybrid. Thanks for making a great car.

I have had this car for almost 4 years. I have not had any problems with it. I have 98k miles. I have normal maintenance on it and purchased one set of tires only. As for warranties. The power train warranty is great. I just recently took it in for inspections and there is some work that will be covered by the warranty.

This car is super smooth at any speed. In my fifth year of driving it and would be glad to drive it another five. If it were totaled tomorrow and I had to buy another car, I would look for another '04 (maybe an '05) Sonata. Most problems were covered by the extended warranty. I'm pushing 120k, so I'm on own now. Driver's side air bag doesn't work. Service tech at the Hyundai dealer said it's caused by all the trash pushed up under the seat, that's my fault. I get a little over 20mpg. Could be better but I admit I have a heavy foot.

I travel a lot of miles in the city and on the highway between Denver, Albuquerque, and Flagstaff. This vehicle has been completely flawless. I follow all manufacturer's recommended maintenance intervals: oil changes, drive belt, timing belt, spark plugs, etc. I will probably never sell this car as I am sure it will give me at least 250,000 good miles before any major repair is needed. Take good care of your Hyundai and it will take better care of you!

This car is really great. it is a very stylish car and many people think that i am driving a Jaguar. This car is very well built. It can fit 5 people very comfortably. The trunk space is very large which is a good to always have. But my antenna broke. Due to the motor burn out. So now i can get the AM stations. I am curious about how it will drive in the snow because it has no traction control nor ABS.

My first brand new car purchase. I have loved the car for 5.5 years, longest I have owned a car by 200%. Only prob has been breaks...needed new rotors all around after 20k. Needed more work another 15k into it. Tires replaced at about 35k. I don't drive the car aggressively. Everything else was amazing. Trading it in, got $5k for it. Not bad, I paid $14,600 with sunroof 5.5 years ago.

Purchased this car used with 70000 miles on it. This car looks and drives great with the V6. Fuel economy is very good. AC is good. Reliabilty is superb. I put 1100 miles a week on it and have had no problems. In the passed 60K I have replaced two sets of tires, timing belt, spark plugs, headlight bulb, oil and tranny fluids. I am so impressed with this Hyundai and still like it's ability...

This has been a wonderful vehicle. I purchased it new and it has performed superbly. It still looks good and performs well. All of the maintenance has been performed by the dealership. Had to replace headlights and stereo has had a couple of minor glitches. The fuel economy has been a little substandard but now for the good stuff. Ride is comfortable and sporty; LX model has all of the bells and whistles including the sunroof; leather seats and power antenna are very nice. I would highly recommend Hyundai to anyone (wife has purchased a Santa Fe and daughter has bought an Elantra). I see why Time magazine has named Hyundai as the 2009 "Car Manufacturer of the Year".

This has been the most maintenance free car that I have ever owned - hands down. I have 110,000 miles on it and it still rides nice and smooth like the day I bought it. Outside of normal maintenance, the only thing that I have had to replace is a front headlight. The cost to operate this car is extremely minimal. I am passing it on the my daughter and I fully expect to get another 110,000 miles out of it.

This car has been a joke. We bought the car and are not high-mileage drivers. We also purchased the EXTENDED Warranty to "Protect" us in the future. As of today it has 51000 miles. Problems, Air went out, 3 batteries, broken engine mounts, fuel sensor (which it seems is not covered by our Extended Warranty). So much for "protection." Add to this our local dealer went belly up and we have to drive forever to get the car fixed and it is time for the Toyota.

Best car I've ever owned, by far. I don't put many miles on it, so I expect to have this car for a long time. Gas mileage = 20-23 MPG -- wish it were better. Drives very nicely and quiet. The only problems have been the side mirror motors sticking (they "release" after I work the switch for a minute), and the power antenna not always going down all the way (one or two soft starts of the car usually fixes this). And, paint chips a bit too easily (from door dings). Otherwise, fit & finish are great. The upgraded cloth seats are plush and comfy. Leather dash/steering has held up beautifully. And the car looks like a hybrid Mercedes C Class and a Jaguar. I've received many compliments!

This has been a great experience. My previous vehicle was a 1995 Monte Carlo V6. The Sonata performs every bit as well. I have over 60,000 miles and have all recommended manufacturers maintenance done. So for $800 of maintenance (plus regular oil changes) this car handles like new. I just replaced 2 tires recently and will replace other 2 next month.

I drive 1100 miles a week, to work and back, and this car has been faultless for the past 23K miles. And yes I do preventive maintenance, to assist this, such as 3K miles oil changes, tires, etc. And have only really incurred the cost of four Yokohama 520 tires; which are superb on this vehicle. Get one you'll be surprised at this good all round secret. PS 32-33 mpg (95% highway).

Bought this when our other car died. The interior and acceleration sold me and my wife. We have the 4 cylinder. No problem getting to highway speed off of ramp, and that speed is 70 mph. I make frequent 600 mile trips and check mileage. My last trip highway mileage was 31.5 , which is better than the sticker said. This was the last year for south Korean made sonatas. They are now made in Montgomery Alabama.

We hoped they would total it so he didn't have to put her back on the road. Ins fixed it, she no longer drives and I have been driving it. I bought my Sonata used and had it for two wonderful years before my 16 year old totaled it. The car kept her perfectly safe and didn't even look back after the accident. I cried when the insurance man said, "total loss". That was the best car I have ever owned, I never had a single problem with that car. It was so fun to drive and I loved the exterior style. The gas mileage wasn't as good as I would have liked but I sure miss my Sonata. I ordered a brand new Sonata today, I'm sold!

After 4 years, I still enjoy driving this vehicle. I would recommend Hyundai to anyone wanting a lot of car for a lot less money than competitors.

Excellent car had it for 4 years only had to replace battery , thermostat, and brakes, only maintenance i did was change oil every 3000 miles, change out coolant ,change timing belt and all other belts and air filters and of course oil filters and wiper blades did NO other maintenance . Car saved my life in a major accident recently. Did excellent job in crash. Was hit by other vehicle going 80 mph. and I walked away with only minor bruises and a little soreness, of course was wearing seat belt, But the car was totaled but I was unhurt for the most part. Could not ask for better car. Great gas mileage and reliability. Get Gap Protection it is worth the investment!!

I purchased this car used with 58000 miles on it. The Carfax report said that it had been a rental in it's previous life. Despite that, this car looks great, drives great and even with a V6 is good with fuel economy. I have since put 12,000 miles on the car and have had no problems. Just put on some new tires and have been diligent with the oil changes. I hope this car performs for another 30,000 or so. Then it should be about time to buy a new Hyundai.(I'll get the warranty next time:)

This is great car. My wife bought this car brand new. It is fun to drive and has been very reliable after 62,000 miles. We drove it all over the country to SC, FL, Phile, Kansas City, NYC, Cleveland, St. Louis, Gatlinburg. Good substitution for an Accord or a Camry. Great warranty on this also.

My first car ever was the Excel she treated well through out those harsh Chicago winters. So I moved up to the Elantra she treated well also. So I said what the heck get the Sonata. I think the 2004 has the best body build of all the Hyundai's. I love the quick speed pick up of that V6 engine, those horses just win durby evry time. I have not attemped to use that shift gear, for what? I still get asked what kind of car is that when I am at the car wash. People call it a baby Jag. The back spoiler I had installed gives it such a arrow dynamic look and feel. When I let my friend drive it one day and she drive up in it, I was like is that me!!!! Yes! I am very happy with my baby Jag

Since new, this has been a great car. It is quiet, powerful for a 2.7l engine and handles very well. We have had only one issue with the starter where the Bendix drive slipped. The starter turned but the engine didn't turn over. Roadside assistance was here within an hour, took it to the local dealer and claimed to find nothing. It has never done it again in over a year. Its the best 17K I've spent on a car.

I have been very happy with this purchase. The only downside is fuel economy. I usually get 21 MPG for non-highway traffic (and that is with climate control turned on). For a V6 the MPG is not bad.

I bought my Sonata 6/04 and traded it 4/07 with 77K miles. It was comfortable, but with the 4cyl acceleration left something to be desired (with no MPG benefits to show- 22mpg, mostly hwy, in the winter, 24- 26 in the summer). Reliability was questionable (in the shop 3 times with emissions issues, 1X brakes, 1X fuel pump). My friend has a V6 Sonata with none of the issues, better MPG and much more power. It was comfortable, interior used cheap materials but put together well, and I did like the car. I will buy another Hyundai (but not when putting 25-30K miles a year on the car), may buy an Elantra or new Sonata to compliment my new BMW (2003 model) for when an auto trans would be nice.

I've had this car for over two years now and its been very comfortable and reliable. A cv boot needed replacing a year ago, but was completely covered by the warrenty. Otherwise, the car has given me no problems. The ride is a little "boaty" and the gas mileage is something like 17 miles to the gallon. . .which in these times is not great. However, I feel it's a great deal for the money involved.

We looked several of the "big boys"-Camry, Accord, Altima. The Sonata came out on top for us because of its excellent rating on reliability. However, what really sold me was the smooth, comfortable ride. I do a lot of freeway travel and I found that at at freeway speeds the Sonata is much more quiet and comfortable than any of the other aforementioned cars-even the Camry. I get all kinds of compliments on the looks of the car too-something I've never gotten before on any other car I've ever ever owned. I love this car.

This is a great car. I have not had any issues with this automobile except that ever since I've owned the car - since day one I have experienced severe sacroiliac pain because the seat is low and I twist to get out of the car. My family owned this car and a 2005 Elantra. We have owned 2 previous Elantras. I went from driving a 2001 Infiniti I30. We traded it in a an Elantra GT. I loved the GT but needed a larger car, so we got this Sonata. What a dream. This car reminds me of my Infiniti, WITHOUT the extra cost of premium unleaded gas. This car has it all. Great pickup, great radio and great overall value. I love this car. I recommend the 6 cyl. though. The 4 cyl. doesnt have the pick up. It is sluggish. After driving it as a loaner car, we bought it. I really recommend this car. I love it!!!

If you rated this car on value per category it would rank 10 on all aspects. I rated this vehicle in comparison to other mid-size sedans in a similar category, such as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. If you are looking for a car with a firm ride this is not the vehicle for you as it has a fair amount of body roll, sacrificed for the soft ride no doubt. Overall it is a fun car to drive and I would recommend it over any other mid- sized sedan primarily because of the cost. My fiancee bought this car a month ago for $10,700 with 22K miles. It is very comfortable for long trips and has ample space in the rear seat and trunk. The car looks very upscale both inside and out.

Love it so far - the ride is very smooth, car is very easy to handle. Tons of space in the trunk. I love the look of the car, and it's so comfortable to drive. I have been fanatical about oil changes etc. and tire rotation from day one. My gas mileage is excellent at 30 mpg and the Sonata 6 cyl has more than enough zip to keep me out of trouble on the open road. I am a big man and the Sonata is very comfortable with more than sufficient leg and head room. All in all a pleasure to drive and a pleasure to own.

My husband and I were looking for a car with enough room for our 3 boys to be able to sit comfortably in the back seat as well as great gas mileage as much as I drive. The Sonata is GREAT! I love my car! It has all the little extras that a higher-end car would have without the big price tag. It handles great, I have PLENTY of room in the trunk for groceries, sports equipment or luggage. The gas mileage is great. We take my car everywhere, especially with the price of gas. If you are looking for a lot for your buck and for a very well built car, this is it! As a bonus, I find this car's look very classy; it does not look cheap at all! Although if you are looking for a performance car, even with a V6, this car will disappoint you. I also find the suspension a bit stiff in town, but the driving comfort on the highway is excellent. This car has a very roomy interior without being a dinosaur. I for one appreciate the fact that it does not horn when the remote is used to unlock. It is more discreet and respectful of the environment and people. I hate noise pollution like car alarms and cell phones' ringtones! Make your wallet happy, not your mechanic!

This was my best choice of 2004. I drove a Volvo940 Turbo before. That car was a money and gas eater. Also very noisy to drive. Before buying this Hyundai, I considered the Accord but went with theHyundai for the price and options. My wife and I, we are very satisfied so far. Everything about the car including dealer service is awesome. Especially those functions such as auto diminishing room mirror, heated mirror, smart climate control, and manual shift make me feel like riding luxury car.

What a lot of car for the price! With incentives, this car came down to about 13,500! Feels like a luxury car, and drives like a sports car! I love it! It looks sporty too. Like a Jaguar, at a fraction of the cost. Hyundai knows what it's doing!

Why I like the Sonata.

I bought my car at an excellent price. The rebate was good and this car has tons of features that are standard that other cars don't have. You'll have to pay extra for things like the CD player, side airbags, fold down rear seat, etc. The warranty is better than the other cars I've looked into. There is a lot of trunk space, great for putting strollers in. The owners manual is cute they give you a little pen and notebook with the Hyundai symbol on it. Great for storing papers. I really enjoy my car. I didn't feel like I was taken advantage of after I bought this car and I really feel like I got a good deal on it. The price was well worth it.

The engine is quiet and the ride is smooth. We have taken this car on a long distance trip with for adults. One adult is 5"10 and was better off in the front than in the back. The ride was comfortable. I have given up my minivan for this Sonata! My minivan has been put in the garage because the Sonata is perfect for around town driving as well.

After owning a Toyota Celica and Mazda 626ES, was talked into looking at a Sonata, and finally test driving a Soata. I was very impressed when we began to talk price I was really Impressed. So much for so little. It is every bit as good as the Mazda, and although not as sporty as the Celica it is every bit as nice as a Camry but for thousands less. I would highly recommend buying one. I was hesitant while reading reviews of poor gas mileage but doing predominately highway driving I get 30mpg.

This is the first car I've bought w/o influence of (ex)wife, parents, friends, etc. Car looks fantastic, inside and out. Drives smooth, quiet, good stereo. I test drove w/ and w/o leather. Get the leather. This car has a much better feel w/ leather. The thermostat and the sunroof will now be necessities rather than luxuries on future cars for me. If it's over 60 degrees and not raining, the sunroof is open, day or night. By the way: The headlights are EXACTLY like my friend's mercedes, and yes, the back end looks like a jag. People mistake it for $40,000-type car all the time.

I am a researcher and it took me 2 months to finally decide to buy the Sonata and I'm glad I did. For the $ it is an excellent valued sedan! Maybe it doesn't keep the same retail value as a Honda or Toyota but I don't think they compare with the interior and function at the price I paid. So it works out in the end.

I bought a 03 santa fe lx, which turned into my wifes car.A year later I bought a sonata lx.They both have the same engine,I thought I would get a lot better gas milege with the sonata ,but its only like 19 city to 25 highway, average I get about 21.Santa fe is 18-22 average about 19.Thats the only thing I dislike. My friend bought an impala ,which is bigger, heavier more horsepower and gets a lot better milege. What I paid for both makes up for gas milege.

This cars pros outweight the cons, but one con is so important it can't be ignored. The hyundai sonata is a great car for people who can afford to buy it as a second car. The ride is smooth, the interior is better than average. it has a great sound system for the normal music buff,(hip-hop and hard rock folks would be dissatisfied). The gauges and knobs are in great positions to reach them without stress or confussion, the trunk space is great for easy access and room to load and unload. Now the cons are sensitive body to scrathes and dents, also a loud engine, and a unstable ride up to a certain mph. But the #1 con is a very poor resale value.

The four cylinder engine was supriseing at expressway speeds. fully loaded, Myself, 210lbs, son, 285lbs, wife 200 lbs. plus luggage Through the hills of Kentucky and Tenn. The car never bogged down from 80-85mph. very supriseing. The car was reasonably confortable, and handeled well at all speeds. It also looks good. I had thought about buying a 6 cyl, but can see no reason to do so. I averaged 30 mpg. from Ohio to the gulf coast. Its well worth the money. The warrenty is a giant bonus.

The Sonata may not get all the press of an Accord or a Camry, but at the price you get a lot of car. It is quite comfortable to sit in and is a lot of fun to drive. The interior is nicely appointed and with everything power including the moon roof the car offers as much as those other brands. The seats are very comfortable and the driving position is excellent. The sound system is first rate. The trunk is spacious and with the 60/40 split more than adequate. The finish both inside and out is excellent. The warranty is also something to consider with this car, too! We liked it so much that we bought two!!

Good price, good performance and good looking. I think this car is the best choice of around 20000$. Don't buy another car like Mithubishi Garant or Suzuki Verona. Sonata is much much better! I recomend GLS or LX model. The perfomance is same but, the interior is different. LX is more luxury but over 20000$ so, GLS is also good choice (19000$)

No pushing for sales and willing to make a deal. However, VA's "documentation fee" is too expensive - $289.90, compare with $100 in MD.

It is fun to drive, has a lot of pep, the style of the exterior is modern and up- to-date, the interior is roomy (with lots of head room so you don't feel like your in a box), there is plenty of trunk space and it is very reliable! As you can tell, I love this car!!! I would, and have, recommend the Sonota to my friends and family. The price is great and the warranty is phenomial. That really sold me on this car. I figure if a car manufacturer gives you such a long warranty period, that means they trust their car to have less performance failures.

I have been driving my new Sonata since August 2003. Out of the cars I have bought in the past, i.e., 1996 Passat, 2003 Eclipse, I am beginning to put Sonata on the top of my list. I enjoyed driving my Passat, but there is something about the Sonata that makes me a very proud owner of the vehicle. I have received numerous compliments by people I do not know. A lot of folks thinks it is a Jag. Recently I was hit by a bus on the rear back door. The outside body of the door peeled back like an orange revealing the interior mechanisms of the door. The car swerved about 3 times before being under control. I had a passenger, who was pregnant. No injuries.

This car had been such a joy to drive. It has fantasic pick up and a gorgeous exterior. I get people asking me all the time... Is that a Jag? The car inside has a very comfortable feel and I feel very safe knowing that there are front as will as side curtain airbags. And you can't beat the 10,000 mile 10 year warrenty. The Roadside assistance is a fabulous feature although my car will (hopefully) never have to use it. It is so reliable and safe that I am proud to be the owner my Hyundai Sonata!

I first looked at this car after stumbling on the J.D Power review in some news article. After a lot of research I test drove the Sonata LX and fell in love with this car. I also test drove the Toyota Corolla and Honda Accord. Corolla was just a good point A to point B type of car with no frills and thrills. Accord was similar to the Sonata. Well it was slightly better in terms of quality but it was atleast $8K/$9K more than the Sonata. The value for money was maximum in the Sonata. The Sonata is THE car for the cost-conscious person who wants a good car.

I just purchased my first Hyundai Sonata (LX)in March and drove it from CT to MO. This was one of the best cars I've ever driven and this is taking into account that prior to purchasing this car I've never owned anything but Volvos. Actually the car drives alot like a Volvo but is much more spacious, and has more play in the brakes and at half the price. All I can say is I'm glad I made the purchase..."Great Car"

The only bad thing is gas mileage and it could use a little more horse power. But, it is a nice car. You go hyundia!!!

For the money, Hyundai builds a fine car in the Sonata. I have 11,000 miles on mine & other than normal oil changes & tire balancing/rotation, I've had no problems. Many people say it looks like a Jag & my response is that it looks better. Every time I see an Accord or a Camry, I just smile as I got mine loaded with a V-6 for less than their stripped models go for. Good acceleration, handling, braking & 24 MPG average in suburban driving. I'd highly recommend this car & over the years I've had some big Buicks & an Infinity. I'd stack the Sonata up against any of 'em. Great car for the $$$.

After 9 mos. the car was falling apart. From the exterior paint peeling, to one window that can no longer operate and another that the cable broke and it fell into the door. My brother owns a Sonata also. The engine blew at 50000 miles. Hyundai and the dealership both refused to honor their "fabulous" warranty for ridiculous reasons. Over $2,000 later out of pocket expenses, he has to go to court to get reimbursed, maybe... A bicycle can get onto the highway faster! NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI

My experience so far with owning a Hyundai Sonata has been excellent. I haven't had any problems since I have had it. I keep up with my oil changes. The car is very reliable. One time I forgot my lights on all night. The battery didn't drain. There is a power saving mode that the car goes into when you leave your lights on. It is great. I think that I made a wise decision on my car and you can't beat the warranty. It is a all around grat car for the price.

Only very minor criticism is the driver's side overhead grab handle, which I continue to hit my head on when exiting the car. Other than that, great car for the money.

I bought the Sonata after long and hard work both at dealerships and on the internet. This car fits my needs to a 'T'. Great ride, smooth and quiet, good power. I just bought a few weeks ago and am looking forward to driving it in the winter months to see how it holds up. Love the looks of it. The gas milage could be a little better. Getting about the same amount of miles per tank as my old Honda Civic, but with a tank that is about 8 gallons bigger.

At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to go from a truck to a 4 door sedan but after test driving the Sonata, I realized rather quickly how incredible these cars are. I have a 2.7 engine so it gives the get up and go that I'm used to. Handles very well and gives the feeling that the driver is in control. I also would like to add that I've been driving trucks for years and swore that I would never drive another car again, partly for safety and partly because of the way a truck handles, but looks like that has now changed and I couldn't be happier.

Very simply, everything you really need is in this car. It's not expensive, but it is surprisingly well built. It is not a speed demon, but do you really need to be runing your engine with hard accelerations? You can't beat the value for the price. Everything you really need is here and all the frills (except a navigation system, but do you really need one to get around your own neighborhood) are here too. And heck, it's about $8000 than a similar Accord or Camry.

Nice Car that's build with quality! The base level model even has SHIFTtronic automatic transmission - makes it fun to drive! Only minuses are below average gas milage for a 4 cylinder. Toyota's 6 cylinder has more horse power and almost the same gas mpg. Coming from driving a luxuary SUV for awhile, low feeling and the harder feel of the seats needs getting use to. Finally, can't beat the warranty and peace of mind of road assistant. Recommended over any dosmestic brand car! Period!

I purchased an 03 Hyundai Sonata GLS with 8K miles. I owned an 03 XG350 prior. I drove across the US 1,400 miles. The interior comfort is amazing. The ride and handling is actually BETTER than the more expensive XG350. The shiftronic feature was great driving through mountains. Most interestingly I'm constantly complimented on the "cool" design. Next to the new Jaguars, there are a LOT of similarity. The price makes me feel SMART. For smart car buyers who aren't out to impress with a name (HYUNDAI won't) and want a LOT of car for your dollar, buy the Sonata. The 24/7 roadside assistance gives peace of mind that I didn't expect.

I have had my 2004 Sonata 2 months now and have had zero problems. I'm really impressed by the build quality and the standard features included for the price. I'm really glad I didn't spend thousands more on a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. The Sonata looks much better too in my opinion. The Accord/Camry have extremely bland exterior styling if you ask me.

The functions are easy to find and use. You cannot beat this car for the features, style, comfort, safety and simple overall satisfaction at the price. Every1 loves my Sonata, makes me feel great. Great warranty, can't beat it. I had a great dealership experience as well. I can't think of another car which would even come near all of the wonderful extras which are automatically a manufactured part of the car. I love the appearance of the Sonata. It looks very elegant, like the German luxury sedans. I bought the LX model with ABS and traction control and drove it happily for two weeks until the power steering started making terrible noises. I took it in and it turns out that the rack and pinion was leaking and needs to be replaced. Not only that, but the part has to be back-ordered from Korea because there are 17 people ahead of me who need the same part. Basically, two weeks into owning a new car, and it is sitting at the service department for 10 days+ while they back-order a new rack and pinion.

What a surprise to own a car that is fun to drive, plus the 10 year 100000 warranty. After looking at the Toyota and Honda line of cars we shopped for the Hyundai as one of our friends has two. We fell in love at first sight and walked out of the dealership for $4000.00 than the others we had looked at. We give it a 10.0 because of the no hassell from the dealer, the $2000.00 rebate and the quality. One should look at one. You will be surprised.

Bought this vehicle and am amazed at the power available in such an economical car. I learned how to drive on my father's 1966 Chevy Impala 283 V-8 and this V-6 Sonata is it's twin in pick up from a standing start. The interior is plush and the design....I feel like I bought a Jag! I owned a 2000 Hyundai previous to the Sonata and it was a solid, reliabe, no frills car. This Sonata is fantastic! Get one!

I have had my Sonata now for nearly a year. I get many many comments how nice it looks and many comments about the paint job. Most people really like the style and design of the Sonata. In the year that I have had it. I have had no problems with it mechanically. I just need to change the oil regularly and rotate my tires for I have not only a ten year warranty but also tires for life. To me these features are very important. The dealership where I purchased it is people friendly and go out of their way to get you in and out without delay.

I purchased a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. 7 months later, with only 9300 miles on it, while driving on a very busy highway in Clearwater, Florida, my transmission blew. I had to get it towed back to the selling dealer. First I was told that they had to order a part, and see if the new part would take care of the transmission. After 4 days, I was then told the part they ordered would not solve the transmission problem, so they needed to put another transmission. I questioned several times, "a new transmission or a rebuilt/remanufactured. I was told a new transmission, when in fact it was a rebuilt one.

I bought my new Hyundai 1 week ago, I totally love it! The dealer was great and the price was outstanding. I test drove the Toyota Camry and this seemed to run better. I felt like my money was well spent. I like the4 cargo net in the trunk. I liked Hyundai because everthing my car came standard and it is pretty well loaded. It seemed like Toyota and Honda added more options which drove the price up, not Hyundai, I only paid $49 for the pinstriping and that was it!

I am sold on my Sonata, having put 25,000 miles on it in 7 months and had absolutely no problems. The fact that you can buy a car like this for $20,000 is incredible. A lot of "expert" reviews say that the Sonata isn't in the same class as Honda or Toyota, but my wife owns a Honda and I can't see any difference between the cars in fit, finish or performance. It has very little engine noise and the power to merge easily into traffic. The steering is responsive and the brakes are solid. The back seat and trunk are huge for a car of this size. I bought this car to drive it into the ground, but I have a feeling that it may outlast me.

Overall, this is a very good car. Good acceleration although a little slow to start. Very smooth and comfortable. Generally quiet. Looks great. I've owned a Toyota Camry and a Honda Prelude in the past. As far as I can tell, this car is about as good as those cars but $5000 less. I refuse to pay extra for the Honda and Toyota name even though I was happy with those cars. I did a lot of research and it's true that Hyundai are much better cars now. Very few regrets so far. The way I look at it, Hyundai's are a steal right now because they're reliable but because they haven't caught on with the public yet, their prices aren't ridiculous.

THIS CAR IS AN EXCELLENT VALUE. IT RIDES WELL, IS RELATIVELY NOISE FREE EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE STEREO IS EXCELLENT AND THE SUNROOF OPERATES FLAWLESSLY. THE ENGINE IS QUIET AND THE CAR IS ERGONOMICALLY DESIGNED, ESPECIALLY IN CASE OF COLLISION. SIDE SEAT BAGS ARE A DISTINCT PLUS. I CHOSE CLOTH SEATS OVER LEATHER BECAUSE OF MY DOG'S CLAWS. LOVE THE LUMBAR SUPPORT AND THE POSITIVE ACCELERATION. GETS EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE. PEOPLE STOP AND LOOK AT IT. IT WILL VERY SHORTLY BE A BETTER ALTERNATIVE THAN THE HONDA AND TOYOTA WHICH COST A LOT BECAUSE OF HIGH NAME RECOGNITION. REBATE IS EXCELLENT.

Good warranty and seems reliable. Some interior cheapness is a bit iritating but for the price I can stand it. The illusion of the money saved definitly makes the car apealing but after some further research I realized it's actually cheaper over a 5 year period (even less probably) to by an Accord. The accord has a better transmission, better engine and is better to the enviroment (this Sonata is a smog machine). Hyundai added some extras to make the good selling points vs. the Accord but these are features rarely used compared to daily driving, ala hyrdrolic hood.

I have owned my Sonata since October and drive approximately 100 miles per day. I have found two problems with this car both minor but worth mentioning. When making a sharp left hand turn if you knee or hand touches the drivers door the bell which indicates an open door sounds no matter how firmly the door is closed. The second problem is the washer fluid for the windshield doesn't squart up high enough on the windshield - as a matter of fact it 'just hits' the bottom of the windshield. Other than these two minor problems I love my Sonata I find it as comfortable as some high prices sadans and I didn't pay high dollars for it.

After driving my 2004 Sonata for seven weeks, I'm convinced I made the right decision. We have been so pleased with it that my wife went and purchased a 2004 Elantra. The warranty is impossible to beat at any other dealership. The car rides very comfortably and handles extremely well in both city and highway driving. It's stylish design is far more attractive to me than the high-backed Nissan Sentra and the squared-off Toyota Camry. I highly recommend this car.

Just purchases a 2004 Sonata and a 2004 Elantra for our son in college. Very pleased with both vehicles. Dealer was a pleasure to work with, they even allowed us to apply the Hyundai loyalty owner rebate to the Sonata. Our first trip in the sonata returned a very good 29.33 miles per gallon.

I have purchased in the past Chevrolets,Buicks,& Fords. The Sonata is built so much better than the above mentioned cars. It rides like a Cadillac. The dealership I purchase this vehicle from were also very accommadating. I did have a problem reaching their staff after I purchased the vehicle but after I complained they rectified this problem. I am very happy with the Sonata.

ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY LOVE IT!!!! DID I SAY I LOVE IT? IF NOT...I LOVE IT! We owned an Hyundai almost 10 years ago and swore I would NEVER buy another one. I asked my husband where he bought his crack from when he even suggested it! Moral of the story? NEVER SAY NEVER. The new reputation, warranty, the smooth ride, the price, and the appearance won me over. I couldn't be happier. It also helped to have a sales rep who rocked!

After careful analysis of all sedans in the Sonata's price range I determined it is by far the best value. It is 2-6 thousand dollars lower priced then other comparable equipted vehicles. It is very peppy and comfortable. It has a tight steering and good road feel. This is my second Hyundai and I am very pleased with the realibility and quality of these fine cars.

I previously owned a ford Taurus 1996 and lost two auto transmissions, and ford would not give any help even though the transmission had only 50,000 miles, i had a factory new transmission installed and it lasted one year and 18,000 miles, but waranty said one year. So i decided to try the Hundai Sonata, and have found no troubles and been extremely happy with this car.

Super value. get the 6 cylinder, 4 cylinder works too hard to propel a mid- size sedan. Shiftronic feature is great. You can shift up (or downshift) through the gears, or let it go automatic. On the downside, resale value is terrible. If you get one, plan to hold on to it for a while.

I HAVE FOUND THE HYUNDAI SONATA TO BE A SOLID AUTOMOBILE. IT HAS APPEARANCE, IT HAS VALUED EQUIPMENT FOR THE DOLLAR, AND IT HAS PERFORMED VERY WELL BOTH LOCALLY AND ON LONG DISTANCE DRIVES. I USUALLY AVERAGE APPX 27-29 M.P.G. WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING ATSPEEDS FROM 55 TO 75 MPH. I HAVE USED THEIR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TWO OR THREE TIMES AND FOUND THE RESPONSE TIME AND SERVICE TO BE EXCELLENT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS AUTO TO ANY FAMILY SEEKING A SOLID, WELL BUILT CAR LOADED WITH EXTRAS FOR THE PRICE.

I traded in my '01 Elantra for the '04 Sonata in search of more power,a better ride & a nicer look. I got all for far less than I could have buying new from the competition. My LX feels luxurious, looks expensive & offers good performance. I know there are other vehicles out there that offer more horses, or tighter handling or better amenities, but few have all of these & none can beat the price & industry leading waranty.

Mine is fully loaded with leather, sunroof, etc. In fact it has every option available on this model and I got all of it for under 21,000. The ride is exceptional and very comfortable. Bought my first Hundai two days before Christmas. I would have liked the V6, but settled on the 4 cyl. Acceleration is more than sufficient. Ride is smooth; seats are comfortable; styling is superb. Combination highway & around town is 26 mpg which I consider excellent because the car hasn't even been broken in yet - 360 aggregate miles. With limited resources, I was very P&Q (Price & Quality) conscious. The price was right, the quality is apparent, & their warranty manifests the confidence of Hundai's engineering for the next 10 years or 100,000 miles. As a discriminating buyer, I was completely sold on this car.

I ENJOY DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE IT HAS A LUXURY FEEL TO IT. THE EXTERIOR IS MADE TO RESEMBLE A MORE EXPENSIVE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES PEOPLE LOOK AT ME WHILE I AM DRIVING AND THINK ITS A LEXUS. I HAVE A 6 CYLINDER AND IT DRIVES VERY SMOOTHLY AND QUITE. ABOUT THE ONLY THING I DON'T LIKE IS THE SOUND OF THE RADIO. IT IS NOT AS CLEAR AS I WOULD LIKE. EVERYTHING ELSE LOOKS AND FEELS FABULOUS. IT LOOKS BETTER THAN MY CO- WORKERS NEW IMPALA. IT IS MORE CONFORTABLE THAN MY BROTHERS NEW DODGE INTREPID. I PAID MUCH LESS THAN THEY DID FOR THEIR CARS. I GOT A 10 YEAR WARENTEE AND A CAR WITH MORE LUXURY FEATURES. CAN'T BEAT THAT!

This is my second hyundai sonata, so I received the owner loyalty discount, making this this car about 5000 dollars cheaper than an accord or camry. It has a beautiful modern looking exterior and a very comfortable interior. The standard features were all I needed, and the automatic transmission has an optional manual shift which helps when getting onto the highway. If you want a solid, comfortable car for a much lower price than other midsize sedans, this is worth a look.

After driving all the big names like Toyota, Nissan, Saturn,Honda and Chrysler and comparing creature comforts, exterior styling and price for a comparable model, the only logical choice was the Sonata LX.
