I moved 6 times with this car. Drove all over Florida with it, and it never broke down once. 100k miles on it and I have yet to find a problem with it. The speaks were soooo good, everybody thought I had special speakers put in. 10/10

The best car I have ever owned!! My 2004 Honda CR-V just turned over 340,000 miles! The only real problem I had was the AC compressor which lasted until around 250,000 miles and I replaced for $1000! The tires last forever on this jewel! I am now looking for another Honda CR-V! I love, love, love this car! Wish I could buy another one just like it!

Positives: Bought my 04' CRV with 175k miles on it. It now has 250k miles on it and other than putting new tires on it and having the breaks done I have not had a single issue! Not one! The gas mileage (manual transmission 26-27mpg)is pretty good for an SUV. The AWD system has worked well in the snow and I can feel the back wheels turn on when I let the clutch out. Quality interior that has stood up the brutal Arizona sun. Negatives: I bought mine with an aftermarket AC compressor so I never had to deal with the issue but I have heard that it's a $3000 fix when the OEM one blows up. Road noise is bad, even with a new set of Michelins. Funky looking styling IMO.

I love my CR-V, this is true utility minded vehicle, which majority of today's SUV are lacking. Hence I baby my car. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the TSB on AC and class action that Honda settled in 2012 for $40M. It was a true wake up call when the compressor exploded, sending pieces of metals throughout the AC system, causing $4500+ damage. Honda America denied everything about the AC and compressor issues, calling internet info "competitor's lie", case action is "untrue", and they even went in extent to tell me that I was first person to report the problem. I'm royal to the local dealer, but I'm no longer royal to Honda brand.

Bought for my wife used in 2007 with 18k miles. It was a Honda certified. It now has 142k miles. A/C blew up at 60k (absolute dishonesty from Honda on this issue) We complained to dealer and Honda; they both played dumb on the issue. I printed off many complaints on this from this site and Honda reluctantly agreed to cover except $800. O2 Sensors went out at 80k. The front strut mounts have gone out several times (we live on a 1/4 long dirt road). Overall decent reliability except the A/C. Honda skimped on everything from the A/C, to the complete lack of sound deadening and suspension travel. Handles well but rides horribly. I didn't see what my wife saw in the test drive.

After owning a number of Honda's due to their reliability, I finally have a bad one, and it looks like others have the same issue. The A/C compressor went belly up and it's expensive to fix. There was a lawsuit about it, but too late to join [HTML removed.} I also have continued problems with side airbags where I get a message saying that they are turned off. It's been fixed twice and still it comes back. I don't think I'm willing to pay the premium for owning a Honda any longer when other car companies are improving their reliability and cost less.

Okay so I love LOVE hondas but my crv i bought because i wanted a car that would best fit me and my new family i had a daughter two years ago and i wanted something more reliable and more room well.. of course looks like a mommy car off the bat but drives smooth i just changed my air box my bushings went bad but thats cuz i drove 145000+miles on it so everyday i drive 35 miles going ONE way so in one day its like 70+miles on my car but its built strong i love it i bought the car at 103,000 and i have had it for almost two years i love it! still going strong minor things have to be done like those bushings but its okay i drive alot and any car can last long as long as you MAINTAIN IT!!!

I'm a full time college student and a mom so this car mostly fits the budget! I bought my car 6years ago with 32,000 miles now it has just over 175,000 (I drive a lot) it's showing it's age now. The biggest problem is the A/C unit. The clutch arm went out 3 years ago and it's just not feasible for me to have it repaired. Not having AC is annoying but not nearly as annoying as 2 complaining kids in the back seat.

I bought my CRV used in 2009 when it had 88,000 miles on it. On a trip back from Minnesota to my home state of Ohio, the A/C compressor blew out when we were 3 hours away from home in 95 degree weather!! It cost $750 to fix, even with us having a friend who is a Honda Certified mechanic who did the work for us practically labor-free.Honda knows of the A/C problems and wouldn't help me. Also began to have oil leakage issues and O2 sensor failure (check engine light coming on because of that) around a 100,000 miles. I've owned a lot of Hondas, but this one gave me more trouble than all my others combined. Just traded it in for a '06 Odyssey.

The AC unit in this SUV is the worst. Who cares if you can drive the car for 200,000 miles if every 50,000 you have to shell out 1500 bucks for a total rebuild of the AC unit. The dorks at Honda designed this this to fail, the compressor blows up right into the cooling radiator for the AC. This adds about 400 bucks to your repair total. Honda just settled a class action lawsuit about these crummy AC units. Beware of 2004-2006 CRVs. You need AC more than you might think. You have to get them fixed or you can't drive the car. The belt system requires that the AC unit be connected, and if it blows you cannot use the car.

105000 miles and still loving it

I bought this CR-V and I don't regret it one bit! At 65000 miles, the AC compressor blew up, I had been warned this might happen with this particular model. My dealer replaced the entire AC system under warranty with no problems after that. 100,000 miles rolled on by and I have never had any issues, mechanical or other with this car. The sunroof is still smooth, no rattles or noises, still solid and smooth. I do wish the seats were more supportive, but that is just about my only complaint. I'm looking to upgrade to a new car next year, and I'm looking forward to the 2012 model.

I bought my CRV new and got a good deal--last 2004 on lot and a 5 speed. I get great gas milage because of the standard transmission. When I clean it up, it still looks great. I have only had one problem with it in 7 years, beyond scheduled service. My A.C. unit blew up--literally. I was having problems with it when it was under warrenty. I took it to the dealership and I was told that there was nothing wrong with the A.C. unit. I took it in several times--finally the dealership told me after examining the car under the special "sonic ears"-nothing was wrong. The A.C. unit completely blew a couple months later when the warrenty expired--the cost $2,600 out of pocket.

After reading these reviews, I think I have the bionic cr-v. My car just turned over 100,000 while driving it today. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this car. It still looks new. I am JUST now replacing the front brakes after 100,000 miles and replaced the back brakes for the first time less than a year ago. My A/C works better than most cars that are brand new. There is excessive road noise and, true, the gas mileage could be better! My interior and exterior still look new. I don't have children or animals so that may be the reason. I love the inside design with the center tray. I too wish the back door didn't open to the side but that's the least of my desires for a vehicle. I love my car!

I had a Honda accord hatchback in the 80's that was great. I bought my wife an 04 c-rv and it held up pretty well until this weekend . At 59,000 miles the ac locked up and the clutch assembly violently was ejected from the car. We limped home from Iowa to Oklahoma,and lo and behold there are at least a thousand other people online that have had similar experiences. Honda, shame on you for not fixing this. Hello Ford, we will be in contact shortly.

I bought this new and really love it. Love the moon roof, the CD/radio, and the seating configuration options. As a tall guy, I fit in this thing well, even with the moon roof. Towing a U- Haul type trailer on the highway I get a respectable 19mpg at 55mph. Original tires were noisy and rough, but lasted to 50K - replaced with Michelin's. Replaced rear brakes at 72K. MPG have been (very) disappointing - have always beat EPA estimates on other cars. I get almost 25 going to work 7-miles away, but highway mileage is almost 22 on the cruise control. Overall average is 23.7.

We thought we were buying a Typical bulletproof Honda in February of 2007 when the car had 18K miles on it and was BABIED for the first owner. The car is comfortable and the interior material is quite good for the price and the car was fairly reliable until about 70K miles. Then the car started jerking when we went about 45 MPH. And the engine check decides when to turn on and off. Turns out the car had a bad 4th gear and needs a new transmission for an outrageous 3500 dollars. What a money. Now we need to dump and get a new car- about 2 years ahead of schedule. This is our first and last Honda. Don't buy these model years- the transmission fail VERY quickly!

I miss my 95 Accord. It was by far the best vehicle I have ever owned, selling it with 157,000 miles on it. Drove it Coast to Coast and it NEVER ONCE let me down. The 2004 CRV I have now has 57,000 mi on it. It's not horrible..but not great either: I'm 6'1" and can (NEVER) get comfortable due to the lack of leg room...which is primarily my fault for not taking it on a 100 Mi test drive:).. Right! Everything still works BUT the squeaks and bad rattles are Everywhere!..Including Multiple windows, passenger side belt, the front suspension...Mechanic still can't figure that one out! Interior scratches easily, and loud road noise. I'm selling it for an alternative Colorado friendly car.

Bought SUV brand new. AC went out@ 108000 - Dealer price $4500 out of warranty. Someone else fixed AC for $1500. Engine light stays on continuously, computer attached and fixed twice and engine light goes back on after about a week. Out of pocket $300. Terrible road and wind noise. CD changer went out - $900 dealer, refuse to pay. Never will I buy a Honda again.

I have almost 110,000 miles and my AC compressor imploded. I was totally unaware that this was a known issue. Shame on Honda for not doing a recall for this. I called Honda and they denied any knowledge of problems. Pointed out that it was pretty well documented on the web, and asked him for the zone manager name and number. Within 15 minutes I had a call back and was told to bring it in for diagnosis and Honda paid for just over 50% of the repair. Still cost me $750 but at least they admitted there was a defect.

My AC went out around 45000 miles, brakes 46000, check engine light now coming on at 60000 miles - the fix is over $300. I've owned 4-5 Honda sedans and now this CRV. I've never had this many problems with a Honda. Part of the AC was covered by warranty. Nothing else. Beware!

A Keeper

Bought brand new. Always follow recommended maintenance and have had zero problems. None at all, still going strong at 105k. Mileage has stayed between 25-28 mpg, very good interior room for its size. Drives nicely for a SUV. Original tires only lasted for 27k, but not the CR- V's fault. Plan on putting a lot more miles on it.

Front struts had to be replaced at 50,000 mi. and yes my air cond. went out at 59000 mi., cost $2800 at dealer. Found someone to fix for $1000. Eng. light keeps coming on and off. No more Hondas.

Cavernous interior for such a small car, with good cargo space and a generous back seat, though taller drivers will want more leg room. Child/booster seats easy to install. Excellent handling: responsive engine, tight turning radius, great visibility and good feedback. Parking in tight spots is easy. AWD saved me on snowy days. MPG is mid 20's. Controls are simple and easy to use in the otherwise spartan interior. Great safety ratings, feels solidly built and proven very reliable after five years.

I bought my CRV brand new and have always driven it very gently. From day 1, I noticed there is significant wind noise and road noise. I didn't think much of it at first, but then other mysterious noises began to show. I can't get the dealer to figure out where a rattling sound is coming from whenever I drive on rough surfaces. Then there is this high pitch whining noise that is very noticeable when the car is going 40-55mph. They say it's a normal sound from the transmission. I don't believe it because it wasn't there for the first 4 years. And now the car averages 16 mpg. I know there are just annoying problems but they really reduce my enjoyment of driving this Honda.

Overall, my Honda has never died on me. I am a very spirited driver, but there are no excuses for some of the constant repairs being done to my car. I needed a new front axle at 60,000 (living in the NYC metro area, we have those big pot-holes), I have blown about 5 or 6 engine mounts, needed a new transmission at 80,000 miles, needed to replace throttle plate at 15,000 miles, the list goes on, and on. Thank god I used common sense, and bought the extended warranty. It's just a shame the terrible customer service at my local dealer turned me off to Honda, and therefore will probably never buy another Honda again. Was a great car until around the 50,000 mile mark. Then it's all down hill.

My air compressor blew up last year at about 50,000 miles, They replaced the parts for free it cost me about $400 for labor to fix. This year the ac is still not working as well as it did new. I have problems with the cloth falling off the rear door panels. The shifter blocks the a/c for the driver. Poor design. Other than that a good car. I am looking for a car with a better AC.

Great reliable car for about 4 years. It did pretty well in deep snow, had lots of room for hauling just about anything. My A/C exploded at less than 58,000 miles. Honda told me to basically drop dead. There should be a recall on this A/C problem. Honda no longer cares about their customers.

I have been purchasing vehicles for over 30 years, and this is the first new vehicle I've ever bought. It is a total lemon! I am very, very disappointed in Honda as I used to think they were a very reputable company, but not anymore. From just under 10K, I started having oil leaking problems that my whole family would smell and each time I brought the car to the dealer for service, they would fix it temporarily. I have 55K on it now, and over the years I have had the oil pan replaced, the oil line, and the latest adventure was the oil sensor. This is a problem Honda knew about! I'm done with them.

I really liked my CR/V until the last few years. 1st, the cabin materials did not wear well. 2nd, the gas mileage seemed to decline over time to the point that I could not get more than 275 miles out of a tank even with highway mileage. 3rd, we had reliability problems. Had a $600 transmission sensor repair last year, and then the A/C compressor imploded and destroyed the entire AC system a few weeks ago. The cost for that repair was quoted at $3800 by the dealer, and American Honda refused to help even though they've helped other customers with this, but left us out to dry despite owing a 06 accord and doing all service for both at the dealer. We're done with Honda for a while.

This Honda is a lemon! Sensors failing, defective parts, high maintenance requirements (rear differential fluid often needs changed), defectively designed A/C system. I will never buy a Honda again. I had a Ford Ranger for 10 years and apart from routine maintenance never had to replace anything. I'm going back to Ford.

A/C condenser blew up with 55k miles requiring a complete replacement of the entire A/C system costing $3500. Honda refused to pay for any of the repair costs although this is a common issue. Car had other minor quality defects with the window controls and control panel. I liked the way the car looked and handled but the overall quality for this model is way below what I would expect from any manufacturer.

Shame on Honda! My a/c compressor blew up around 58000 miles. Since this was a known problem (read the reviews).. they replaced the parts but refused to pay for the service.. cost me about $500 not including rental car fees for the time it was in the shop and the $200 I spent at a private shop trying to diagnose the problem. (about $800 out of pocket total).

I bought my 2004 CR-V new and took delivery in Nov. 03. Basically a good car but not a great one. The well known A/C problem became a problem for me in the 90,000 mile range in August. I live in Connecticut and we don't use A/C much but in August you really need it. The repair was $1500 and Honda covered $900 of it as good faith. At about 105,000 the throttle body went and I shelled out $1000 for that repair. Based on the dealers absolute confusion on what was wrong I don't think this was a common occurrence for the CR-V. The sun visor broke off in my hand and cost $100 to replace. The drivers seat belt broke but was covered under the lifetime guarantee on seat belts.

This car met my expectations for a mini- SUV perfectly. I also shopped the RAV4; preferred the CRV and have not regretted it. 20-21 mpg in town... 24- 26 mpg highway. No problems in 31+k miles. I have stuffed lumber and furniture into it but also know that it has size limitations and is not a truck.

I'm reading that people have had issues with their A/C but mine works as good now as it did when I first bought it. The engine still purrs and the transmission is as smooth as silk. I put a heavy-duty hitch on it and haul approx. 1700lbs on occasion without any hesitation from the engine. Routine maintenance, good mpg and decent fit and finish continues to make my CR-V a winner for me. Just to add, mine was assembled in England and the engine/transmission were manufactured in Japan. Maybe this makes a difference.

Our CR-V has been a dream to own. We've had no problems whatsoever with regular maintenance. We love the layout of the interior and all of the cargo space, not to mention the gas mileage. I'd buy this car again and recommend it to friends and family.

Love the car for its utility and versatility. it can carry three mountain bikes in the back and is great for our big dog. But the low gas mileage shocked us - 15 mpg for largely suburban driving (school runs, errands etc.) Has done really well off road when we've needed it to, and handled very well in snow and ice, with and without chains. The super expensive ($500) oxygen sensor went out just after the warranty expired and that was a disappointment.

Gas mileage much lower than what I was originally told, too frequent on the fill ups. Acceleration weak but tolerable, car runs smooth. Speakers make a buzzing sound. Car jack difficult to crank, panel that holds jack regularly opens and jack slides out. At 62,000 miles radiator, engine heads and all radiator hoses all broke at once just months after the full 60,000 mile service overhaul.

Like most people with a Honda 03-05 my family has air problems. Last week the condenser exploded, and not only ruined a $300 condenser but did a few thousand dollars in damage. What kind of idiot designs something so that when it breaks it tears up the entire product? If you don't believe this try to use your defroster this winter with the ac not working. This is a known Honda problem that they refuse to fix [via several web sites]. Anyone that has paid out of pocket needs to go to Honda lawsuit and help get everyone's money back and save others from this problem. It's defective equipment. They are ripping the public off .

I bought this vehicle new in Nov. 2003. I now have 98,000 miles on the car. At 97,000 miles the entire A/C compressor, clutch and coils blew. After fighting with Honda they ended up paying $600 or the $1500 price tag to replace the A/C. The cars fit and finish are sub par for a Japanese car. Squeak and rattles abound. The exterior paint is easily scratched. Honda has known about the faulty A/C problems with the CR-V but refuses to extend the warranty on them. I owned 2 Subaru's before this car and will go back to Subaru once this car dies for good. Honda gets high marks in most of these postings but most of the postings are from people who just bought their cars.

Have leased this vehicle for nearly 4 yrs now and it's been pretty good! No mechanical issues or anything and at 42K miles it's still going strong. We are upgrading to a new 2009 Pilot and I'll miss the zippiness of my CR- V! What I won't miss is the discomfort of the driver's seat. I can't get any lumbar support and the seats just seem small. My son sits in his car seat forward facing in the back passenger side and therefore the passenger seat needs to be nearly all the way forward in the front, total pain. Love all the cargo space!

Today is my CR-V's 4th birthday and I have noticed fading paint, rock chips on the nose that have started to rust, and scratches all over the car. This alone will bring my resale value down at least $2000. I will take the vehicle into Honda but I'm sure they will not take care of it. I would recommend not buying the midnight blue pearl color. Better yet buy a Toyota.

As a huge Honda fan and owner for the last 15 years, I was thrilled when I bought my 04 CR-V. Sadly, that excitement only lasted as long as the warranty. 2000 miles past the warranty it just stopped running. Took it took the dealer and they said it was a "sensor" and it cost me $280! But as frustrating as that was, it pales to what just happened to me. Just like all the other CR-V owners out there, my AC compressor blew up, and American Honda just snubbed their nose at me like they have every other owner. Shame on you Honda! Fortunately, my dealership helped me out with the whopping $3,000 bill, but Honda is doing nothing to help its loyal fans. As a result, I am selling all of mine!

Dependable Car but short-lived AC

I have my CR-V now for almost 4 years and I'm happy with it. But just 3 days ago, the AC system gave up at 49,000 miles. Mechanic told me to take it to the dealership because he'd seen at least 4 Hondas with the same problem. The dealership, after contacting Honda, decided to charge me just $160 to change the whole AC system as they realized that this thing has been becoming too common for 3 to 4 yr. old CR-Vs. If ever your CR-V AC gives up on you, contact the dealership before shelling out thousands of dollars at private auto shops. Big chance they will cover it for you even if your car is passed the warranty period.

My whole ac unit in my cr-v crystallized after only 4 years old and only 36,000 miles. If I would not have had extended warranty on this car I would have to have paid $4,000.00 to fix it! Yes, the air conditioning unit will fail abruptly. Just my luck it blew out in mid-July in CA. I took it to the family mechanic who said this was the 4th CR-V he's seen recently with this exact problem. Bottom line-you can get a new compressor for $250-$800 (depending where you get it), but it's the WHOLE UNIT that needs to be repaired. After so many complaints, Honda still does not have a recall on it. I can go with mechanic who will charge me $1,300. Others that have gone to dealer pay about $3,000. I called my dealer and was told they'd try their best "to take care of it" for me with "no additional cost." We'll see after I take it in. Brakes have also been repaired a couple times.

The vehicle has been all that I expected and more. I am not one of the morons who buy a car thinking that I will never have a problem. The few issues that I had were either diagnosed as normal or fixed under the warranty. The CR-V is a pleasure to own and drive. It handles well and is good on gas. I am 6'-3" and fit in the car well. The interior is well designed (except the silly gear shift lever) and comfortable. The sound system is great. The sun roof is a great feature, never a leak. The fold down tray between the front seats is very handy. There is great small item storage. Mechanically, it is a solid car. Take care of it and it will run and run and ...

This suv is fun to drive, has plenty of room. It's a bit noisy, but way less than any truck I've owned. Bought it with the miles of 2006 (as an '04 in 2008), and am very happy with it.

We are very disappointed in our CR-V. It is our first Honda. Even with perfect maintenance, we have had two oil sensors go out which causes the engine to choke. We were traveling at 70 mph the second time and were almost hit. We have had to replace the cam shafts also which is very unusual. At 65000 miles, our air conditioner blew a whole in the condenser. As you can see, we feel ours was built on a Friday at 3:00 p.m.!

Bought this car brand new in 2004. Have loved it ever since. Live in MI so more cold than warmth. Great car for the snow.AC just blew up on the road in the middle of Nov07. Wasn't even being used.Car has 104,000 miles on it. Called Honda after researching and finding out this a well known problem w/ the Air Compressors. Honda said because the dealer found clutch in April of 08 Rusted out in my bumper my car must have been in a collision. HELLO! Salt, SNOW.Yeah it rusted. No GOODWILL WARRANTY FOR ME. I have never had a single warranty claim and Honda can't help me out. Car has NEVER been in an accident. If I lived in Florida this would have happened a lot sooner. Will not buy a Honda again!

I bought this car after deciding to downsize from my Dodge Caravan, but I still needed room for my 3 dogs. This car holds the dogs, and all my stuff, and I still love driving it after 4 years. I had to replace the original tires after 33,000 miles but other than that have had to do nothing but regular oil changes and recommended service. I hope to keep and drive it for many years to come.

I just purchased a 2004 Honda crv lx.. Had owned 3 Toyotas previously. And a Honda Prelude at one time. Was always reliable. I thought the same would be true for the Honda crv. I was mistaken. Bought it with 46,500 miles. AC went out at 47,400. Never had this problem with my Toyotas or my 1988 Honda prelude. Very disappointed. Starting to Wonder why I am considering imports anymore. Reliability is not the same but they are still at a premium in cost.

We've had this CRV for 4 years now; for the most part we're happy with it. But, paint application is so weak that a simple fingernail rub or anything brushing by scratches deeply, and bugs splatted on the hood during a long trip ate to the metal by the time we got home. Interior plastic is the same story. We've had to replace the tires, battery, and muffler (our 92 Honda Accord has never needed a muffler replacement). It was out of warranty, but Amer Honda gave us 50% off. So why is repl muffler a lifetime warranty? Ave city mileage: 18-20. Ave highway: 25-27, depending on A/C usage. This unit was manufactured in the United Kingdom.

The only thing that was going out was my driver side automatic window, which does not cost too much to repair. I recently traded it in for a minivan because of my growing family, but I will really miss my CRV!

I bought this CRV for reliability and economy. This car has performed these functions well. The gas mileage is slightly lower than the EPA estimates. The CRV is great in the parking lot, small and maneuverable. The problems are these: This is the loudest car I've ever been in. The road noise drowns out all conversation. The seats are very hard and make long drives even more uncomfortable. The car even looks kind of wimpy, too. The fuel indicator also shows empty when there is more than 25% of a tank left.(the tank isn' big to begin with) After 3 years I have had enough. I will trade off a little mileage for comfort and styling.

We purchased this car new and for the first 10k miles it was fine. We chose the manual because of gas milage ect. but we never drove one upon ordering this one (mistake). The shifter is so vauge, acceleration is the worst, downshifting will not slow the vehicle, and finally it does this weird jerky thing while accelerating (the tachometer is not smooth and you can watch it stick at an rpm). The seats are the hardest most unsupportive seats for any type of longdistace driving. Steering wheel is falling apart. And lastly the a/c compressor just died last week, honda says it will be $1400 to fix. this is our second honda that the a/c died after three years. Verry disapointed

50k miles in 3 years. Excellent SUV for the money and every for every positive comment posted on this site. Mileage is very dependent on how you drive, I average 21 for city driving. I've owned 5 Honda cars and the CRV is by far the most intelligently designed, easy to drive vehicle I've ever owned. When do you ever hear from people on how easy and fun a car is to drive? It's so true. At 50k miles, I'm having to replace 1st set of tires and brakes, nothing else so far.

We purchased a Honda CR-V EX a few weeks ago and have been extremely satisfied with it. It handles very smoothly and the exterior looks pretty darn sharp. We traded in our 2005 Toyota Corolla as we have a 6 month old daughter and needed extra room. The safety features (front and side airbags, ABS, etc) are very important to us which is why we went with the EX model. Overall we are very happy with our decision.

I am and outside sales rep and bought the CRV because of the combination of price, visibility & dependability. I worked in Los Angeles and sold to trucking companies so parking was a premium, I could park in the smallest of spots. With all the dead end streets and the front wheels 12 inches behind the bumper I rarely had to back up to complete my turns. The CRV is smooth as silk on the open highway. I have 90k on my two year old CRV and it runs the same as new. I did two things to improve mileage, power & economy. I put platinum 4 plugs in and I always use mid-grade gas. The extra 10 cent per gallon is more than made up for with the benefit of the extra 6 miles per gallon. Very peppy now!!!

I owned an Oldsmobile Bravada prior to the Honda. I traded in the Olds for the Honda to gain better gas mileage...and what a difference it made, I was averaging 11 MPH in town and 19 on the highway in the Olds...with the Honda I average 22 in town and 25-29 on the highway depending on conditions.

I have owned Honda's for the past 6 years. I just trader my 3rd Accord for my Green CRV. Now, don't get me wrong, the Accord is the Grand-daddy for sure but I just love my CRV! It is fun to drive, I can fit a lot of stuff in there (especially my bike). We recently went on a trip and could fit everything in the back w/o any problems. It rides great and has a smooth transmission. I like the driving position and there is a lot of interior room especially in the back seat.

I've had this car almost two years now and I can say this is best car I've ever owned. I had a 97 blazer before this and I must say the rear leg room is far more than the blazer, not as much front leg room but it's a smaller vehcile. The shifter coming out of the dash takes getting used to but I love the placement now. All around a wonderful car.

This vehicle typically gets rave reviews. I have a few gripes. The interior plastics grow old quickly. Too many rattles and road noise in the cabin. Pluses are a smooth auto transmission, convenient tumble forward rear seats and excellent side panel rubber molding to prevent door dings. My CR-V had a failed drivers seatbelt, replaced free (after waiting a month) and an airbag recall. Very poor MPG- expect 18-19 on average in combination driving. If you're used to driving a sedan this vehicle takes some getting used to. As far as reliability, it has been all Honda-no problems.

I traded in a Tahoe for the CR-V mostly for the better mileage. I'm getting 21 in town and 27-28 on the highway. I plan to upgrade the standard cloth seats to leather because that's what I miss most about the Tahoe. I'm impressed with the sportiness of the CR-V, and I like the ability to customize it with OEM and non-Honda parts.

This is my second CRV and fourth Honda. I bought the first CRV model offered in 1997 and turned it in on the 2004 model. Wonderful vehicle. It can haul almost anything a truck can and it's much more fuel efficient. The engine in the 2004 is an improvement....quite peppy. Love the sunroof and raised back seat. I never worry about mechanical problems. It's a Honda. I'll always have one in the family.

At a little over 18,000 miles this piece of junk needed its transmission and fuel injectors replaced. Now a few days and a few hundred miles after getting it back from the dealer, it appears to need yet another transmission as well as rear brake work (it was fine when it went in). This vehicle was delivered with some type of adhesive spots all over it, presumably from the delivery plastic. We had a roof rack installed at the dealer. This rack does not appear to fit properly, so I fear it is lacking in structural integrity, so we do not use it. The vehicle rattles and shakes at every opportunity. So much for reading Consumer Reports and following their "Best Buy" recommendation.

Everything about this vehicle is great. I have not had one problem with it. I am in the Military and in Germany, I average 100 mph on the autobahn. It handles great. Gas mileage is outstanding. It is a little noisy but nothing that is annoying. The vehicle is roomy, quick and comfortable. Traded in a gas hog (Chevy Tahoe) in for it. My wife and I are glad we did. I recommend this vehicle to anyone

First, the 2004 is a great improvement over the 2001 CRV we owned. More powerful, less buzzy engine, more comfortable seats, better brakes, seats fold easier and tumble all the way forward, better quality interior materials, easier to use tailgate. Glad Honda moved the window controls off the dash and back to the door panel armrest where they belong. Vehicle is based more on the Accord and less on the Civic in terms of styling, features, engine. Much nicer design, more elegant, less utilitarian. Great value for the $$$.

Quality control is excellent. I own 3 hondas, no complaints at all. They're built to last forever, as long as you keep up with their regular maintenance. 5 Speed tranny is the best,very smooth, very powerful, it's a honda.

Own my CRV for 18 months now and it is all that I expected and more. Extremely user friendly interior with plenty of cargo space. Front seat should slide back an inch or two more for extra driver legroom. Rear seats are very comfortable and roomy. Road noise can be quite intrusive and the poor standard tires don't help. Very happy with the gas mileage average of 22 MPG. AWD activates smoothly on slippery road surfaces. Handling is good but a bit tippy in hard cornering. Would highly recommend this vehicle because of its excellent versatility, build quality, value and reliability.

A reliable vehicle, but does not win any awards for its appearance. I haul my drums around in it along with people, so it is a functional vehicle. No bells and whistles, just a functional car. Dont expect it to be like a luxury SUV, because it is quite simple and plain. I would recomend it to anyone who want a functional, reliable car/SUV.

Have had the CR-V for almost 2 years now, and am still thrilled with it. Comfortable daily driver and can fit just about anything into it. Some wind noise from the A pillar. I'm 5'10" and wouldn't mind an extra inch of leg room up front. Rear seats are cavernous. Have driven 5 adults buckeled in quite comfortably. Better gas mileage than most SUV's. Have seen as high as 26 mpg on a highway trip, as low as 20 mpg around town. Average about 23 mpg combined. AWD feature has activated in snow and heavy rains. Sound system is great. I would buy another CR-V in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone wanting a versatile vehicle that gets decent gas mileage and doesn't need to tow anything.

I bought my very first new Honda and everything went wrong with it rotors, starter, emergency brake was never even hooked up. Every time I had to get its scheduled maintenance I didn't have my vechicle for few days due to mechanical probs. The civic w/ 227,000 miles I traded in was more reliable. I just recently got rid of it because Honda Corp. was willing to do NOTHING to help me with my issues. Very disappointed, always loved honda, had to switch to Toyota.

I'm not sure what all the rave is about and why the CRV gets such high marks. This is certainly a practical car, but it doesn't have much power and doesn't handle all that well. I've had issues with turning and accelerating, especially on wet surfaces. And this car is NOISY. The noise from tires and wind while driving is very loud. I much preferred the Jeep Liberty for pep, , sturdiness, handling and fun, but it did not get good gas mileage so I had to trade it for the CRV. I'm disappointed but today, fuel economy is the most important factor for me. But that even suffers tremendously when using the air conditioning.

Replaced a '97 Explorer on 06/04, 17,500 miles now. Fuel economy improved to 26 mpg @75 mph and 22 mpg in town. Interior room a plus, excellent width and cargo capacity. Seamless auto tranny, meat locker A/C in hot FL summer. Cruises great at 80 mph. Agile in traffic. Would buy again.

After debating for months between the Odyssey, Sienna and CRv we decided to bo with the CRV and have not regretted it. It can be a tight squeeze sometimes to take a newborn, 60 lb dog, 2 adults and the associate junk on a trip but it does fit. The specs on the car say 21 city and 25 highway but a little over 23 is the most I've gotten in 7000 miles and 20 is the least. The mileage does seem to be improving as it gets older and is at about 22.5 now. It performs well in bad weather and feels like a car most of the time. The ride isn't as smooth as a car but what do you expect? The ride is definitely better than other SUVs I have ridden in recently including the 4runner and explorer.

Easy and fun to drive, great in the snow. good acceleration and brakes. safety features are impressive. Had an oil leak within first month, I believe it is a manufacturing problem with the original oil filter (put on too tight) on the O ring (this is where some of those fires occured), fixed under warranty. It has been great. Expected a little better in gas mileage. Remove the center headrest for better visibility.

My wife needed to trade in her Accord for something with a little more room. We looked at the Pilot, but was too big, and was worried the CR-V was too small. Thankfully, not the case. Very powerful 4 cylinder engine, and pretty fun to drive. Handles much better than I expected. I drive a Civic, and would never hammer corners in the CR-V that way, but I don't think that should count against it. It handles curves well, and rides like a car. Very comfortable on a recent 6 hour trip. The split seats that roll forward are very versatile, making it easy to "stow & go". Nice to have the 6 disc changer, although the sound system is a step down from her Accord. We miss the big gas tank too.

I found what I was looking for in the CR-V: reliability, economy, multi- functional space in a sporty design. I bought a 2001 in 2003 with 58,000 miles and have never had any malfunctions. The only time I'm in for service is for routine maintanence. It is used like a sedan mostly with 2-3 of us riding. Ocassionally it is loaded like a truck for camping or other trips and it always handle well, no matter what the load.

I travel extensively for business and have put 20000 miles on the CRV in the first year. The CRV is a sturdy car. It cools quickly in summer and heats quickly in winter. The handling is solid. The driver's seat could use some additional lumbar support. Road noise is pronounced. Back seat is very comfortable for adults--I'm 6 feet tall and have no trouble riding in the back. I wish the mileage was a little better. I've maxed out at 24 mpg on long trips. In addition to being my primary work car, it's the alternate family vehicle (our other is a 2000 Odyssey). No problem with 3 kids in tne back. I'm very pleased overall with the CRV.

Purchased this car for around town driving for the family, and am very pleased with not only the way it handles and its ability to fit into tight spots, but also its fuel economy as well as its nimble acceleration.The visibility is especially good on all sides, owing to large windows and windshield. Sitting up higher than regular cars also provides a better sight line. The interior design makes for comfortable driving, but I would not plan a long drive (6 hours +) in this car. All in all, a good family car with room for extra gear in both the back and on the optional roof rack

This car is all utility. It's a bumpy ride for the passengers. My husband and dogs all get sick in the car. The deep hollow for the windshield wipers holds the snow and ice, and your wipers are too deep to dig out! They get frozen in there. They ought to do a safety recall!

From the day we first picked up our new CRV we felt very comfortable in it. The Honda CRV replaced our family mini-van of ten years; we were so surpirsed to find that we didn't lose any functionality but gained versatility and economy. The CRV's little extras like stow away picnic table, multpole cup holders and center console flip-up table are very appreciated. The CRV handles well on the road and has ample pick up on the interstate for a 4 cylinder vehicle. The car's AWD handles well in snow yet gets great gas mileage. The seats could be a little more comfortable for long trips. Otherwise the CRV is terrifc value and a lot of fun. No wonder there are so many on the road.

After owning other Honda models, Toyotas, and a Chevy S-10... I found that the Honda CRV is the right combination for me. It offers plenty of passenger room, as well as interior / climate controlled cargo room. There are lots of thoughtful features, plenty of cupholders and power outlets, great A/C. The fuel economy and power are much better than the S-10. The CRV offers excellent visibility... no squinting through tiny back or side windows.

I have had my CRV for 4 months and I love it. It is fun to drive, dependable and gets great gas mileage. We took a 4,000 vacation over Thanksgiving and it held the road great and was comfortable. We really enjoyed our trip and our Honda CRV. It has all the pick up speed you need for city freeway driving and a great ride overall on the highways. My daughter has a 1997 Honda with over 200,000 miles and it still drives like a champ. Sure seems like a good deal to me!

Short of expectations

Styling and driving pleasure are the strong points but gas mileage and build quality are way below Honda's usual efforts. Mileage averages 17/21. Lowest has been 16/20. Never over 19/23. Dealer says that's normal and won't note the complaint on a work order. Door and both side mirrors rattle/shake at hwy speeds and there's a rattle in the dash. Mirrors have been tightened twice. Radio is horrible. If this were a Kia I'd rate it a 7 overall for having exceeded my expectations. But it's way short of expectations for a Honda. I wonder if assembly in England could account for the poor build quality as I recall the poor quality of MG, TRiumph, etc. Fun to drive, but I wouldnt want to own one.

Mine is relatively new, with only 7,000 miles, but so far it has been great. The only drawbacks are that it doesn't get quite the gas mileage that I thought it might and the seats get in the way of seeing out the sides and back. Other than that it is another great Honda product.

Traded a 1999 Olds Bravada for the CRV. Wanted a car with better mileage and better reliability. I found it in the CRV. I was afraid that going from a loaded luxurious SUV to the CRV might be a mistake, but after driving it for the last 3 months, I am far from disappointed. The CRV handles better than the Bravada, feels much more secure at highway speeds, and is simply a joy to drive. It’s handling in city driving is excellent. It feels tight in turns and starts and stops quickly. The ride is not as soft as the Bravada, but then again, I didn’t expect it to be as soft. I’m very happy with this car. I intend to keep it for several years.

We have put on 3000 miles during the past month. 4WD engages seamlessly. Fuel economy in city is 23, at 65 mph is 21, 70 mph is 20 - disappointing only in that Honda estimates are typically spot-on. 26 isn't going to happen. Plenty of power, room, fair visibility. Fog lights, rear deflector, front mud flaps excellent add-ons. Rear wiper is intermittent- only and not adequate in wet climate. Big blind spots left and right rear. Removed center rear headrest, but no place other than well provided to store it. Driver seat hard on back on long highway hauls. Noise level was surprisingly high.

Overall a reliable SUV for the money. Very good exterior style and comfortable yet noisy (road noise) interior. I look at Ford, Toyota and Honda and found the Honda CR-V to be the best overall value.I have driven the SUV for 3 months and 4400 miles and I am pleased with the vehicle.

What a great surprise this CR-V is. I was looking for an SUV in the $20K range with a 5-speed and 4-wheel drive. This fit the bill perfectly. It drives just like a car with a commanding seating position. The handling is very car-like and stable; it never feels tippy or anything like that. The interior is much bigger than you would expect from the outside. The backseat is massive, and when you flip the seats away, the cargo area is huge. This is the benchmark for small SUVs. The 5-speed gearbox is slick and precise; there is absolutely no reason to spend $800 on the automatic. Although the overall rating won't come out as a 10, it definetly is a 10

I bought this car for the large interior space, small exterior size, and fuel mileage. It has delivered on all fronts. You really can't go wrong with this car, as long as you accept that it's not a true off roader.

This car is such a great car for the money!!! Acceleration is awesome for a 4 cylander, and the gas mileage is great too. Very roomy and queit ride. I love the fold down seat configurations.

Its a great car, and a fantastic redesign over the 1999 I used to have, for roughly the same price. The front seats weren't made for tall people unfortunately (I'm only 5'10" and could use another inch or so of leg room). Only gets 23-24mpg, but for an SUV that's not too bad. Overall I'm very happy with it.

As per all of my previous experiences, Honda has again built a quality car that is fun to drive, priced right and reliable. This car is just the right size and performs very well. Enough power and great handling. Appearance is fabulous! I continue to be a satisfied Honda owner and cannot imagine buying anything else, except, maybe, a Lexus at some point.

I have only owned the CR-V for 2 weeks now and love it. I am looking forward the seeing how it handles in the snow this coming winter. I am disappointed in the gas mileage, and think some of the " options" should be standard.

Size, handling, quality, it's all here. I bought this as a "work wagon" for the office. I have been "stealing" it more and more. If you aren't a serious off-roader, and want a reliable, not-too-big SUV, that's a joy to drive, this is the one for you. Its good for taking the occasional foray into the woods, mountains or desert dirt road. Honda even includes a hidden pic-nic table in the back! I have owned serious, big SUV's, and this isn't for serious off-roading. But it is a spacious, comfortable rig that does fit 5 comfortably, and 4 with some luxry. Rear seats recline AND move forward and back. They also "tumble" forward, against the front seats for lots of cargo space. But it!

I love my CRV so far I looked at alot of others and this one was the best bang for the buck. Feul mileage was one of my gripes but then i reminded myself this is a SUV they don't get mileage like a car.
