We purchased our Expedition in 2012 w/only 50k miles. The AC compressor went out w/in a week which I put on the dealership we purchased it from. We had purchased a warranty for this SUV which covered the repair and pretty much paid for itself immediately. Only other repairs were the ball joints, axle bushing, and alignment at 82k miles (warranty covered). Finally rear bearings, axle seal, front differential, pinion seal, and cam adjuster were replaced at 100k miles (warranty covered). Tires were replaced at 107k miles, but we only got 4k miles on them before loosing the SUV to a deer. We owned the SUV for 4 years and it served us well. I would recommend this SUV. We have purchased a warranty on all of our vehicles which has paid for itself every time. The transmission was was slipping a bit prior to the deer strike, but it was not to the point where I felt it needed to be addressed. Cold weather appeared to bring this issue out.

I am the second owner of this car at the begining it was great of course spends a lot of gas more than other 8 cyl cars I had. My worse nightmare air suspension light turned on about a year ago spend a lot of money to replaced it twice and since then it still has problems with it. I am trying to fix it to sell it and since I still have issues I haven't been able to do so. My suggestion is get rid of it. NOT MY BEST DEAL :(

362,000 miles! NO drive train work, ever!

Wife bought 04 Eddie Bauer rwd with 5.4 engine at 45K miles. It now has 362,000 miles (!) and neither engine nor transmission has ever had any work on it-- AMAZING. At this point, uses about 1 quart of full synthetic oil ever 3,000 miles. Have run full syn oil ALWAYS and premium filters. Had to replace alternator at 250,000 miles and also a/c compressor, dryer, expansion values, did that at 300,000 miles. NO rust or hardware corrosion / rust at all. We drive this vehicle between Missouri and Florida homes, 1,000 miles each way-- so most miles are highway. Cruises at 70-75 and will achieve close to 19 mgp if you take it easy, otherwise 17-16 on highway. Had to replace air suspension at 225K miles and went to strut/shock, cost around $600 to do- not too bad. We have excellent mechanics in both Missouri and Daytona Beach and are careful to maintain vehicle properly. It has been an amazing vehicle, but with this many miles, my wife wants to go to a newer model - can't blame her for that, but the Expedition realistically would run to 500,000 miles with no issues, based upon continuing excellent performance, minimal oil consumption, acceptable highway mileage and continuing great ride quality. The only non-function item is our tire pressure monitoring system, and that is due to battery giving out in the wheel sending unit. Not worth it to us to replace them, but even that is pretty minor cost, we just didn't feel it worth cost to replace them all. Will definitely miss this one when replaced, can't overstate the quality built into Expedition and the incredible, trouble-free use it has given. Hoping next one is as good!!

love it

The MPG are pretty bad, but other than that, its a powerful car with great handling, a quality sound system, great options (including not only heated seats, but cooled seats as well,) and good looks for an older car.

As a family with four kids, expecting our fifth, we needed to upgrade from our cramped Toyota Sienna minivan, and I am SO GLAD we went with the expedition. It's roomy, comfortable, practical, and stylish. Our van felt like driving a boat; it drifted in the road with typical minivan steering and got battered in the wind. Even though the Expedition is much bigger, the steering is WONDERFUL and we feel only the windiest days, barely. I feel safe driving my family around in this, and it handles like a dream in the rain. We bought it with 101k miles on it and will drive it until it dies. And then buy another! This family will never buy minivans again.

Will Buy AGAIN!!!

I live in LA Paz Bolivia and bought my 04 expedition on 07 with 70,000 miles. Now it has 162,000 and it just been crash twice really hard. Safety is the best issue with this summer. The roads are of the worst quality and the sun still feels really strong. It has never left me down or hanging and that is a plus five here in Bolivia. Traveled all over the country with absolutely no disappointment. I can really say ford Is built tough. I had even had to tow one of my other big truck uphill and it felt awesome for my truck to be able to do that. The best car ever!!!! I just wished it would keep a better value. But all the other pros outweigh the resale value. Just great

I bought mine in 07 with 40k+and I am about to hit an amazing 200k. Now that isn't that amazing but considering I have spent very little money outside of normal wear ant tear repairs. Engine, transmission, Dvd player, heated and cooled seats, side mirror defrosters etc..... all work great It is 2014 and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. I am going to keep this truck until she dies!!

I purchased this beast around 2008 with 22,000 miles on it for little of nothing, Did not want the four wheel drive but the price was to good to pass up, It is great but it does suck up the gas. I am always towing something and it is good for that and winters all wheel drive is cool. Now it is 2014 with only 70,000 miles on it running strong. If you can handle the gas mileage get on. I see many of them with well over 200,000 miles on them so it will last with regular maintance.

We have reached 154000 miles now . This SUV has been almost flawless . It has been reliable not to have left us ever stranded . We have a 6 year old Daughter with special needs and now on hospice care. When we needed it for emergencys, trips to the hospitals 100 miles away 2 times a week . Run fast and hard at times of emergency to get her to hospital fast to save her life . Not one problem with the Expedtion . Hopefully the right people will read this who might have the same situation as mine and buy this great built suv. Thank you Ford !

Had my expedition since 46K miles and now have 155k. Plan on driving her till she drops. Regularly maintained and have almost no unnexpected need for a mechanic. The only thing bad about her is the rear window wiper. The motor quit many moons ago. Windows roll up extremely slow for some reason. Heat and cooling work great and distribute wonderfully. Tows a 21 ft boat with ease. With regular maintenace hopefully, I'll get to 200k.

I purchased my 2004 Expedition used with 20000 miles on it in 2006. I have enjoyed this vehicle every mile I've owned it. Unfortunately the other day I was rear ended by a commercial vehicle doing 45 mph. It was the end of the Expedition, but the quality of this vehicle saved my life. I would recommend this vehicle 100 times out of 100! Looking for a new one as we speak.

We bought our Expedition after having a Chrysler Town and Country mini van. I'll tell ya what.... I dont know why we didnt just buy a Expedition in the first place! Awesome truck. We have 3 kids and two Labrador retrievers that go everywhere with us. We have so much more room than we did with with the van. We can also tow our 29ft. camper no problem or our ATV trailer with three ATVs. We bought it with 122,000 miles on it and are going on 150,000 with no problems. We get about 15 in town and as high as 20 on the highway. I have a F250 superduty too, but its sure nice to have the option to take the comfortable truck now when we pull something. I'd recommend one to anybody. Good solid truck!

I bought this Expedition after saying I was done with Ford after 2 bad experiences with Ford vehicles in the past. I turned in my lease lemon 05 F150 in 06 and saw this Expedition on the lot and something told me to give Ford 1 more try. I'm glad I did. I bought it with 37k and 4 yrs later and with 76,XXX + miles it has been a great vehicle. Only issues I've had was a rear end whine and a sticky brake caliper. That's it. Both fixed under warranty years ago. It has been the best bad winter weather vehicle I've ever driven and that's saying a lot here in Michigan! It's made me a Ford Guy again. I think you should buy one.

For anyone thinking about getting a Ford Expedition, don't think any longer! If you have the need for a people mover that is bulletproof, reliable, and of high quality, this is the vehicle for you.... I have had this Ford since new and now have 225K miles on it without any major problems... Just have changed the oil every 5k-10k miles, and kept up with scheduled maintenance...thats it. Have 3 teenagers into sports, hauling family for ski trips, etc - you get the picture...Once the wheels fall off this Ford, I wouldn't hesitate to get another one... hope this helps..

Have 85k on our expedition and it has been a great vehicle. This vehicle does it all. We tow our camper, plow the driveway, and load it up for vacation (storage box on roof, basket on rear hitch). You can't find a crossover that will be this versatile. Gas mileage is not great but try to pack a family in a prius. Had a few minor problems but I usually fix myself. Overall an excellent vehicle and plan on purchasing another one in a few years.

89,000 trouble free miles. We live 100 miles from nowhere and to travel 135 miles for shopping is common, this SUV has never let us down. Mpg is 18.5 and we drive 75 to 80 mph also pull a 18 ft enclosed trailer on occasions with no problems. The wife would like for me to get a new truck but this one will get new tires and keep going a few more years!

I'm a die-hard ford guy and the expedition did not prove me wrong. Have ran it 3 years and 80k. Only has needed brakes and tires. Rear seat material seems to be a little dry rotted but with 2 boys it doesn't really matter. Always runs strong, wife loves it. Bought a new fusion but the wife will never give up her expedition. When we go on vacation, we put a bubble on the roof, rear basket on the hitch and she's good to go. Found a homeowners plow for the front and she even plows the driveway in the winter. Need to tow no problem. Have towed 5500 lbs piece of cake. Now looking at a camper to tow. You can't find a crossover with good mpg that will do as much.

I bought this car new in 2004. Has custom steering wheel and faux wood dash from dealer. This SUV is great. Simple comfort and easy to drive. Much better handling once I got rid of the Contitrac tires that came OEM and upgraded to some excellent Goodyear Forteras. Only one maintenance problem with rear compressor which was ~$450 to replace. Only have 47,000 miles on the truck. I think this truck will last a long time.

I'm a working musician/bandleader. My band performs at upscale banquets and hi end country clubs,. we often work in tuxedos. I need a vehicle that is both presentable and functional. My Black expedition has served me well and I continue to be very pleased with it. I do however, I only have two comments. I don't need third row seats, I prefer not to pay for Leather seats that are berried under cargo. Give me the option of storage compartments in that area instead. My second comment is to provide some tie downs in the cargo area. Hopefully, Ford realizes that Expedition owners and drivers aren't all soccer moms.

Considering the price of these vehiclesÂ’ new, I always look for a new used one. Believe me, no one else knows or cares. At over 50K brand new, I get the same luxury for around 30K, or less. I think the Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer, is one of the most awesome SUVs on the market today. They are as reliable and dependable as any Toyota, and like Toyota, they donÂ’t change style much. For an SUV, you just canÂ’t go wrong. I have 160K on mine now, and it purrs like a kitten. But, as an engineer, I canÂ’t stress to you the value of maintenance!! You keep the fluids changed and tune it; you will be one happy camper. ALL of

I bought my 04 Expedition Eddie Bauer about two years ago. When I bought it it had 130,000 miles on it. It seemed to be in excellent condition when I bought it, especially for a vehicle with that many miles on it. Since then I have put another 35,000 miles on it, and every one of them has been completely trouble free. This vehicle has performed flawlessly the entire time I've owned it. I've never had a vehicle with this many miles on it. It's still my vehicle of choice for long trips! We recently returned from a 1000 mile trip up to the mountains, and as expected, the Expedition gave us no problems at all. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a reliable, roomy car.

And as far as im concerned the saftey is great. sister had one and rolled it down a 300ft cliff, and it brought my family back to me after the wreak, after that it sold me on them. Granted i have only had it a week but i love this thing. went all the way through it and didnt find anything mechanicly wrong with it exept the rear passenger seat belt dosent work but the place i bought it from said they would replace it for FREE.

I really wanted to like this Truck.

On my third rear end covered by warranty. A ticking in the drivers side door that nobody can find, plastic cladding on doors are fading badly (garage kept), tire pressure monitors useless, paid for leather got something that isn't leather (perhaps it comes from plastic cows), tailgate has blisters in the paint, steering wheel cover falling off. All these issues are created by accountant driven engineering. On the up side I pull a 6500 lb boat and it does it quite well although I doubt it could pull the 8500 lbs its rated for. Handles well for a large truck. Excellent brakes. Engine performance from the 5.4 L is great. Climate control is good. Good winter vehicle. Inspires in all weather

Had problems with the steering and rust on the rear door while under warranty. Had problems with the differential seals 39,000. Brake seals went at 40,000; Caliper froze and destroyed front rotor at 51,000; Same caliper froze at 102,000 replaced rotor, break line, seals. Front bearing replaced at same time; 2 months later at 104,000 rear wheel bearing went. Never use this for off road and very minimal light towing. All highway miles and very costly to own. Beware!

We purchased this one (our 3rd Expedition) new in March or 2003 and broke it in on a road trip to Mesa Verde. The literature indicated that it would get only 13 mpg or so, but by keeping our speed around 60 mph we have averaged over 18 mpg overall and over 23 mpg on one trip from Fontenelle, Wyoming to Denver. I am tall (6'5") and this is the most comfortable vehicle I have owned. It is so nice to have a car that actually fits me. It has all of the comfort features one could want and the heated and cooled seats are a real treat. We haven't had any problems at all and I expect it to last at least another 10 years or more. Great job Ford!

Only complaint is the support in front seat isn't so good and I wish the DVD player wasn't right in the middle of the mirror and of course gas but it is a 4wd v8 so what do you expect. This is my 2nd Eddie Bauer 4x4. I haven't had a problem with this SUV, and I would recommend it to anyone. It has more torque than GM's, but less horsepower; translated, tows more but won't win a light to light. Who wants to race something this big anyway? I have used it to tow 5 or 6 cars to the crusher...I couldn't tell they were even behind me. There is also plenty of ground clearance, incase you want to hop a curb or two. Tire Pressure Monitoring System really, really works too! Headlight illumination well above average...brights light up the horizon and foggers do their job. Powerfold 3rd row a plus, especially on rainy days when you need the extra room. DVD system great for kids!!

We made the mistake of purchasing a new 07 Wrangler and what a mistake, sold it quick and found this Expedition with 4WD cheap with only 31k miles. Had to replace the Contrac tires because it sat for over a year until gas came down. I purchased it to tow cars that I purchase on craiglist. I have even pulled a 36 foot motorhome (15,000 pounds) to a garage with no problems.I have put about 12k miles on it now and I love it. Passes everything but the gas stations. The new tires make it really comfortable. Did not want 4X4 but they gave this thing away when closing the dealership. I will put over 200,000 miles on this like all my other Fords one with over 435,000 miles. Do your own maintnance.

80,000 miles and have never had any mechanical problem. This is the way to travel for a large family (>4). Kids and wife love it. DVD system and premium stereo are great. Very comfortable seating, even in the third row. Long interstate trips allow a significant increase in gas mileage. No problem towing large (6500+ pounds) of boat. Have never been stuck in snow and often pulled others out of the ditches.

Love it & will buy my 3rd one soon

This is my 2nd Expedition and I love these trucks. I'm about to buy a 3rd one. This one has been a rock - totally dependable and solid. I feel safe on highway or in town. Had someone turn in front of me recently on a highway and the brakes did exactly what they were supposed to do - again, it's solid. Put the Michelin LTX/MS tires on it and the ride is great. Ford has treated me right all along - with the 1st one and the 2nd one. It stinks on gas mileage, but it does everything I need it to do. I love this truck.

This vehicle is a true Friday afternoon lemon. Both front calipers defective at 39,000 miles - out of warranty I have to replace. Exhaust system at 49,000 miles - i have to replace. Now, transmission gone at 58,000 miles - I have to fix. Nothing is covered under warranty, Gas mileage has never been better than 12.5 MPG. When addressed to Ford that a transmission under minimal use should not need to be replaced at 58,000 miles, Ford "regrets this, but unfortunately, can't help us." Junk car, junk company, worst vehicle I have ever owned. I would highly dissuade anyone from Ford product based on this vehicle and my experience with the company.

Purchased this used at 44K miles last year after having a 4 cyl Altima. First I would not go back to a car. Sitting this high is awesome. The truck itself is great and I have had no major problems. The tire monitoring system goes off when the car is cold but otherwise no major mechanical issues. DVD is great for my 3 kids and I added XM radio so this is like a home away from home. Owned the lemon Ford Tempo many years ago and vowed that I would never own a Ford again....maybe not a car but the SUVs are great. That is one thing that Ford is good at.

We've owned our EB for about 2 1/2 years now and it has never dissappointed. It was comfortable with 4 kids in car seats and stuffed to the brim with a week's supply of stuff on a 4000 mile roundtrip. It's a good to and from vehicle, especially with a bunch of kids, pop in a DVD and go. And you can tow a 5000 trailer with ease, barely noticeable with the power of the 5.4.  An interesting side note, the front clip of a Cadillac Catera will fit in the back, with the seats folded down of course. I'll sell it when the wheels fall off, great do-whatever-you-need-to-do truck.

This is my second Expedition, my other was an 03. While I do greatly apppreciate the interior design and roominess, the seats are not very supportive at all. My transmission went out at 60k miles, and I just put a new alternator in it. Now I am being told that the rear climate system needs a new motor. It thumps whenever you turn it on. It is just problem after problem with these Ford's and I heavily reccomend you not buy one. I am going to trade in my Expedition for an 04 Chevrolet Tahoe LT. My Expedition is beautiful solid black with the chrome exhaust, but is certainly not beauiful for my pocket book! Go with the more reliable, cheaper to fix, better re-sale value GM Suvs. You will thank me

Great car value. This SUV holds so much. It handles better in the snow than my Range Rover which cost more than twice as much. This has been my best car purchase. Mileage is bad, but what real SUV has good mileage? This truck looks good on the road or parked next to anything. Also, the design still looks good today more than five years after the 2004 XLT first rolled off the production line.

I have owned this Expedition for 3 yrs and it now has 61k. Overall I am happy with my Expedition especially when the weather here in Michigan get rough. The biggest improvement I did was replacing the OEM Continental TR's with Michelin LTX A/T's a few thousand miles ago. I wished I did this years ago. It makes the Expedition ride like a completely better vehicle. I would also definitely recommend buying a extended warranty for any issue that creeps up. I've had to have the rear end rebuilt (whining), a brake caliper replaced, a transfer case leak fixed, lower ball joints replaced, & an idler pulley replaced. These were small nuisances but I've seen worst from other makes and models.

The ride is smooth, even on rough roads!Great for long distance trips with 2 kids! The engine is quiet, great towing capacity! Lots of space for legs & cargo. Pulls strong and runs best with less fuel comsumption using premium. Elbow room with 7 people on board. Commanding views of the road from all seats without blind spost for driver. Great vehicle to be in bad weather, secure and safe. Smooth and effortless power.

My Expedition has 50k miles and has been in to the dealer for service one time. It is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. We loved it until our transmission went out at 40,000 miles. It only had 14,000 miles on it when we purchased it so we have put the bulk of the miles on the truck and we don't use it to pull. Then the more I read about the transmission problems the more I don't want to keep the truck when we get it back. Only good thing is that we are not putting another transmission from Ford in the truck. Going with a Jasper rebuilt transmission that has a 100,000 mile warranty. More than Ford will give you.

Heads up. From a stoplight going down a hill, it felt like I ran over two broomsticks. We then had no gears to run in. My wife and I pulled into a parking lot. I looked under the car, no fluid dripping out. All fluid levels checked OK (good and pink). After that, I tried to pull out, No reverse. I had no D gear and the only way I could drive was in 1 or 2. We drove to the dealer where we were told that a sump gear was broken. $2100 later, we have a rebuilt transmission. We will be in contact with the Ford Motor Corp. to try and recoup some money.

I purchased my 2004 Expedition on June 27, 2007. The evening I drove it home, I heard a noise coming from the rear. I own a mobile automotive repair business so I was checking the truck out. To make a long story short, the rear needed to be completely rebuilt. The problem was it was bought from a Chevy dealer so after 3 dealers, it ended up at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer and this process took 8 days. Otherwise, it drives great and I love the vehicle.

Just completed 1 year of ownership. Bought it with 37k and now has 49k. Replaced transmission oil with Royal Purple ATF Max Synthetic oil, also am running 5w30 Royal Purple Synthetic Oil in the crank case. A K&N air filter with cold induction has been installed too. My gas mileage went from mid 15's to mid 17's overnight. On the highway cruising 68mph its around 19mpg. We love the room, the 4x4 and ground clearance is tops here in Michigan too. Our only problem we've had is a rear axle whine that is a common on 03 to 06 Expedition's. The 5.4L pulls strong and runs best on premium fuel. With 4 growing kids this Expedition will be with us for a long time coming.

This vehicle has been excellent for my family of 5. It is comfortable and roomy, which is great on long trips. I have not had any problems with it except for squeaky brakes. The gas mileage is awful though. I am only getting between 13-14 MPG in town and between 18-19 MPG on highway. I guess that is to be expected from an SUV this size. Ford needs to improve the fuel economy and this vehicle would be almost perfect.

POSITIVES: Great room for a family of 4 or 5. Plenty of luggage room for those long family trips. Eddie Bauer's look great with the gold underpackage with pretty much any body color. NEGATIVES: What's up with the brake dust? Wow, let's not skimp on quality brake pads. Also, middle seat in second row should recline with outside passenger seats. Third row seating leather has come unattached and not sure how to have it fixed. Looks crappy like that. Gas mileage is garbage but what can you expect from that large of a vehicle. The a/c fan inside the dash makes a light squealing sounds periodically and I'm sure Ford won't hear it to fix it.

Recently upgraded from 1998 XLT 4x4 Expedition that was still excellent after 129,000 miles including 4,000 yearly miles towing a 7,000# travel trailer. The new 2004 Eddie Bauer feels stronger with the extra 30 HP with 5.4L engine. This one has everything except air suspension and navigation system. So far around town averaging 16.7 mpg. Other than rear axle whine which will be fixed next week am extremely happy with this vehicle. Ford hit the spot with this one!

Our '04 Expy EB with 4wd has been a great ride so far. We have been trouble and maintenance free and after 2.8 years of ownership @ 45k miles, we are very happy with it. It's a great SUV for long road trips, carrying large items, easily configurable for cargo, carries 8 comfortably for short trips and 6 for long trips. This truck has been reliable and safe. Am glad I did not invest in an extended warranty. We are still running on the original Contis and expect to get them to 50k or maybe 60k. It has not been in the shop for anything besides normal 5k maintenance and operating costs are minimal except for gas costs. The fuel costs are offset by carrying capacity for people and items.

I drive my Ford for work. Most of my miles are highway miles. The air conditioner went out early on. At 46,600 miles the transmission is out. It is out of warranty. The dealership did pick up $1000 of the $2k bill. A transmission should not go out at 46k miles. Funny thing is I had a Taurus that the air went out early and the transmission dropped at 60k. Ford seems to have problems with these. This is the last Ford I will ever buy. If you have to have a Ford-buy the extended warranty.

We have owned Tahoes, Expeditions, Land Cruisers and currently also have an LR3. Our 04 Eddie Bauer Expedition has been an excellent performer. It's comfortable to drive and the ride is way nicer than the previous suspension set up. The additional power offered by 05s would be welcome but the 2 valve motors are adequate. This SUV just eats up the miles on road trips. Ours has been extremely reliable. We have 56,000 miles and I took it to Firestone telling them to replace the brakes...I get a call an hour later saying there's 50% pad left and the rotors look fine.

Solid and dependable. This is great on long trips, which is primarily what it gets used for. Gas mileage...well, it's what you'd expect for a V8 and what was advertised when we bought it. Plenty of power. I wish the clearance was a couple inches higher because I do take this off-road for camping. No towing issues with 17' boot and trailer. Engine is quiet. Seats 7 with reasonable comfort, though it's primarily just ma, pa, & the boy with the 3rd row of seats folded down for luggage. 2nd row of seats folds flat and can fit a few 4x8 sheets of plywood. We hope they improve mileage with future models, because we'd consider another.

This vehicle has been an excellent surprise. It is comfortable is every seating position, quiet and totally reliable. The surprise is that it consistently gets over 20 mpg in highway travel. As a daily driver in town it drops to 16+. The secret is in keeping the tires at 34 or 35 psi. The ride is not soft, but the handling is responsive. I also find that, though no dragster, it is not a slouch. I get to check it out in the home city of the X5 that is rated so highly. This machine is more comfortable, has more room, hauls and pulls more and has more power than the X5. Now, if it would just keep the resale value....

I traded in my 1997 Expedition for a new 2004 Eddie Bauer Expedition because of all of the improvements. While the new features and styling are great the build quality and reliability are terrible! In 2 years the differential has been rebuilt twice, the battery failed, one window motor failed, comfort seats (heat & a/c) failed, passenger mirror motor failed and has more rattles that a daycare. Now I've been told that the front brake rotors need to replaced because they are too thin at 20K! I called Ford and they said that they were not under warranty but the replacements had been "redesigned" to resolve this problem. They admitted that this was a design defect but it would not be covered or pro-rated.

Does great on the things we bought it for (kids, cargo, 4WD in rough weather, comfort, long trips); only a handful of quality-related nitpicks keeping it from making it a truly great experience. I love the exterior styling. I have the sport model. However within 500 miles the paint began to peel and the muffler began to make loud popping noises as the vehicle warmed up or cooled off.The dealership said the paint could be spot touched up and that the noise from the muffler was normal. I wanted the vehicle repainted and the muffler replaced. When I requested this I was told no on the muffler ( the noise is so loud you can hear it 20 feet away every time it is started or turned off) . In fairness to Ford the only paint peeling is on the body clad molding. It was also peeling on several other new units on 2 different lots and was verified by techs at both locations.

This has been a great suv, has plenty of power under the hood, is incredibly comfy, has sleek and sporty styling ... stands out! (not like the Chevy Tahoes or 'burbans that are all like a carbon copy of each other). Is very roomy, heater/AC is very strong powerful, Transmission is responsive, braking is impeccable, large rear-view mirrors make it easy for a lane change, fold flat seats allow for lots of cargo room, 3rd rear seat is just as comfy as the rest of the seats. We purchased our Expedition at a Honda Dealership where we had taken our 2001 Honda Passport for an oil change, We had just returned from a fishing trip to the Sierra's and were very disappointed with the Passport's comfort zone, We purchased the Expedition with 30,000 miles on it; it had been traded in by the company who initially purchased it. We installed a trailer hitch and have pulled a 26 ft travel trailer from Orange County California to Havasu, Arizona with no problems. While I would have preferred a little more horsepower I was very pleased in its performance climbing over mountain passes. It never heated up even while running the air conditioner and climbing. Comfort was great.

The gas mileage is great for a vehicle this size and the turning radius and performance are much better than in the older model. I wanted the buy a Tahoe but after a test drive in both I was unable to consider anything but this Ford. I also looked at a few of the imports but found them to be overpriced and under featured. Could you live with single digit mpg? It happened to me. This single fact ruined my ownership experience. 18 mpg on the highway (after 10,000 miles), but I didn't drive it on the highway much. Low quality audio for a $48K vehicle - lose the Visteon garbage Ford! Chattering plastic parts in the rear liftgate took forever to locate and correct (did this myself). Rear axle seals went bad at 7000 miles. I desperately wanted to like this vehicle, and I did until the economics of driving it and the problems started up. This was my first big ticket vehicle purchase and I feel I was reasonable about my expectations. My idea of $48K worth of vehicle and Ford's don't match. Bitterly disappointed with Ford.

I would recommend this SUV to mothers, especially those who have larger families. You can transport 8 individuals with ease, but that would leave you little baggage space. Some of my favorite features are the dashboard alerts. I am forewarned of low fuel, an unbalanced tire pressure, or even low coolant. In addition, the backup safety feature (which can be turned off) comes in handy and provides reassurance that you are not going to hit a child or object.

I bought this vehicle for several reasons: 4WD, 9 passenger seating and price. I have not been disappointed at all. Yes, the brake dust is bad, but I knew that when I bought it. Of course the gas mileage is not good, but I knew that too. For the money, this vehicle is hard to beat. I have the smaller V8 and it has plenty of power for me. The base model I purchased has all the basic power options plus adjustable pedals for my short wife. The biggest shortcoming is limited storage behind the 3rd row (please build an extended version!). Therefore, I have both hitch mounted and roof mounted luggage carriers. My wife loves this car. AWD is much smoother than my Sierra Z71.

I loved my '99 XLT 4.6l. It was time to get something new (I had 284000 km and still looked like new). I get better MPG with the 5.4 but about the same performance with the Eddie Bauer (must be heavier with heated/cooled seats, 6 CD, auto A/C, great sound, 3rd row in floor to leave room for the dog, back up alarm and all). Now I can see at night (great improvement). I can hear a whining noise when I apply power (a bit annoying). I was expecting wood trim on the dash at that price. On the road it is a delight to drive. The front suspension feels loose compared to my solid axle on the "99. Lots of brake dust on the wheels but they clean real easy and look great.

I have had my 2004 Eddie Bauer Expedition for more than a year. It is a good solid vehicle that excels in bad driving conditions. My wife remarked that it is more comfortable for her as a passenger than my 1997 Explorer (that she said "bounced her around too much"). No issues or problems in the first year (I'd expect nothing less).

Fun vehicle. Great for a family of 5. It handles great, but could be better on the mechanics. Have had lots of problems with the driver seat, rattles in the dash, water leak from the rear window and a loud humming noise from the axle. The dealership has had the car for many issues. Gas mileage could be better, but what do you expect of a big truck. Even though we have had issues I would purchase another. Other cars same size do not compare with ride and room, also the deals and rebates Ford gives is much better than the rest.

I traded in a Honda S2000 for the Expedition; quite a change. The Expedition is much more practicable, but not quite as fun to drive. I like the interior design, the seats are comfortable and it's very quiet on the road. We towed about 5,000 lbs from Tampa, FL to Whidbey Island, WA (about 3,500 miles in all). The truck did great, even over the 10,000' passes in Colorado. It was extremely comfortable the entire trip and we managed about 13.5 MPG.The only problem I've had with the truck is the passenger side fuse panel shorted. I came outside one day and the brake lights were on - with no one in the car! Ford fixed it and it's been a great truck since then. I paid $36,300 in TX.

Love it, but.....

Most comfortable and "fun-to-drive" vehicle we've owned. MPG is painful, but it is a large SUV with a large engine. Rattles/squeaks in the dash and headliner. Have taken to dealer many times to fix with little success. Noticed a howl in the rear- end at 12,000 miles, ended up having to replace the ring and pinion gearset in the rear differential. Serpentine belt went out at 19,000 miles. Have been less than happy with the problems we've had, but still like the vehicle.

3 weeks after the purchase I noticed a large amount of brake dust forming around the front wheels. When I called my sales rep., he told me that the new brake pads were softer and produced more brake dust. At 22000 miles I am having to replace the front brake rotors because they wear out with the pads. Instead of an annual cost of maintenence for brakes being around $200, its now going to be around $550. The sales rep. should have told me this. I see a lot of new Expeditions with the same brake dust buildup; I like me they will be in for a shock when servicing their brakes. Still it seems the car industry doesn't make full disclores to the consumer.

I shopped all the full size domestic SUV's and two imports and I when the dust settled, I chose the Ford. There are compromises no doubt, but when you weigh all the factors that I thought were important in a vehicle like this: ride comfort, hauling capacity and flexibility, price & features I found the Expedition more than capable. The 5.4L provides adequate acceleration, not as good as the Dodge or Nissan, but on par with the GM & Toyota. Your not going to be winning any stop light drags, but this motor will pull hard and true. A lot of people complain about the mileage on this vehicle, but folks what do you expect? It's 2+ tons w/a V8, I've average 18 on the highway @ 75mph.

This was the best SUV we test drove, in fact, when in the Lincoln Navigator, then into the Expedition, you could tell no difference. I love the 3rd seat comfort, most 3rd seats in the Expedtions rivals, are very flimsy, and not comfortable, it is very comfortable for even the pickyist of adults. The power under the hood is exceptional, and with loads of features to make you feel comfortable, and secure. The gas mileage is beter than most we are getting about 20 on highway , and around 18 to 16 city, (getting better than our taurus!) I love (as is we have hit winter) that its not long at all after you have started the car, that the heater is warm!

We somehow no longer needed the minivan, but wanted that type of vechile to drive. We like being able to see the traffic ahead, and make adjustments before the last minute. We love the FORD Expedition. It could be better on gas, however I don't nearly do the driving I did when the kids were in all those activities. The gas tank is big so I only fill it up every 2 weeks or so.

Bought my '04 Eddie Bauer in Nov. 03 and I have loved every minute of it! I'll never have another hard top without a moon roof! I feel safe and comfortable in this vehicle. I also have a convertible so I don't drive it 100% of the time but I drive it most of the time. I have never had a problem with either Expedition.

This has got to be the best riding 4 wheel drive vehicle I have ever driven. The new suspension is outstanding. I drive up a road known as Saddle Road everyday and it is unbeliveable how smooth and tight this vehicle is. It handles like a much smaller vehicle. The gas mileage is good for such a big vehicle. I have had my 2004 Eddie Bauer Expedition for two months and it has not given me any reason to regret buying it. I love the look, the ride, the performance and the handling. My last vehicle was a Ford Bronco that I loved and drove for 225,000 miles. I gave it to my daugher and it is still running, no rust no dings no major repairs. I just love a good Ford.

At 5'2" I didn't think I could handle driving a vehicle this large. I was wrong. The running boards along with the adj. pedals were a must for me and have been great, as have the back sensors. The turn radius is that of an Explorer (at least the 2002 Explorer that I prev. owned) and is very manageable. The interior has lots of room for lots of kids and lots of stuff. The third row is wonderful as is the ability to fold down one of the seats. The large compartment next to the drivers seat is extremely useful. Two nagative aspects of the interior are: no storage pockets behind the front seats and no alt. compartment for sunglasses if you have a sunroof.

The new power third row fold flat seat with the additional headroom in the rear makes it the most comfortable of all the large size SUV's we looked at. The gas mileage is very good for a vehicle this large . We get 15mpg local and 20+ mpg on the highway. The Eddie Bauer trim is very luxurious and we have been very pleased!

I've always enjoyed driving an SUV. So when I traded in my Jeep Cherokee for a Ford Escape, it was a definite upgrade. Three years later, I traded IT for my Ford Expedition. Needed the space with three Labrador Retrievers and Two Businesses.....The truck pulls our boat and you don't even know the boat is back there. The power fold- down 3rd row is sooooo convenient....and the space is more than ample. Comfort and ride are complimented regularly by family and friends......You can't go wrong! I've owned my Expedition for 2 months now. I haven't had any major problems. Love the ride and was surprised how well it handles. Only issue I've had so far is sometimes when running the A/C, I smell a burning smell. Brought back to the dealer and the deordorized the Heating Box. We'll see if that helps. Another thing I noticed is that sometimes when I'm driving with the radio off, I can hear a humming or high pitched noise. Not sure what it is, hopefully it's nothing. Overall, I think the Expedition is great, I love driving it and it looks pretty good on the road.

The 04 rides much smoother and much more quiet. I wasn't too eager to get another one but my wife liked the 2000 and I'm glad she convinced me. The 04 is awesome. Its comfortable, it drives better and has more options. It seems to have more power but thats probably more to do with us getting the 373 gears this time. We'll pay for it milage :)

There is something not too good about the A/C on these things. I live in AZ and it just doesn't perfore well in the heat. Tried service, but told A/C was redesigned to limit engine drag. It may be because I purchased it used w/ 30,000 miles, but I have too many problems. At 50,000 miles (1 year later) A/C not working, rear locks not working, something wrong with the transmission, the expensive warranty I purchased does not cover. Trade-in value is low and I have to pay thousands to get rid of it. My previous car, a Toyota Camry of 5 years/66,000 miles had no problems. Make sure you plan on keeping it if you buy it. I would consider another SUV like the Escalade or Navigator.

Went to the dealership to trade my 99F150 with 90k, for a 2004 F150. Wasn't finding the color or equipment I wanted. As I was leaving, I asked about the Expeditions and they had a beautiful Blue demo. This thing had all the toys. Only option missing was the sunroof. It's tow rating was more then enough for my boat, which is 7000lbs. It tows like a mule and you feel like you're in a highend sedan. The 4wd engages easily, and is a life saver on slipper boat ramps, which Florida has in great number. Fuel economy is the same, if not better then my truck which had the 4.6 and the is Expedition has a 5.4. The transmission is smooth and sure.

I have owned 3 Expeditions and have nothing bad to say about any of them. I think the styling is outstanding on the outside and the interior is one of the nicest I have experienced. The ride and handling is the best of any vehicle I have experienced. For a large vehicle it handles better and has a tighter turning radius than my wife's Lexus RS 300. For short or long trips is rides as smooth as a luxury car and yet can handle 8 people very comfortably. I am 6' 6" and can stretch my legs out full length in the front seat and do not impact other passengers.

My first Ford that I have owned. Overall a great vehicle. Ford refuses to replaced the front brake pads with new ones that do not have escessive dust. The excessive brake dust has stained my running boards. This is the only problem I have with the vehicle.

This is my second Eddie Baurer Expedition. I was so psyched when I purchased it b/c I loved everything about the interior.- space between 2nd row captain chairs, 3rd row fold down seats, DVD. HOWEVER, I have had too many problems in the last year- new brakes at 23,000 miles, loud clicking sound going from 2WD to AWD(can't find the problem), over- hauled transmission(car was in the shop for 3 weeks I might add). Plus Ford doesn't give out loaner cars. Bummer considering all of the problems I have had in the last year. And we paid $45,000!!!

Hapy with my purchase.

I love the room in this suv. Also, just the base model seems to be enough for me. Stereo/CD player is of good quality and the car handles much better than I thought it would. The gas mileage is not great (15/19) but who expects it to be in an automobile of this size.

This is my 3rd Eddie Bauer 4x4 Expedition. My 1997 was such a pleasant change from driving Suburbans for 19 years. So much more comfortable. The 2003 was a disappointment due to the Advance Trac not being what we'd hoped for. This 2004 is not quite 3 weeks old but I love it. We had a good idea about the gas mileage so that isn't a problem.

This is by far one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. It has excellent handling for a large SUV and great responsiveness. Most of the features are self explanatory and in the appropriate spots for easy access. There is lots of room for storage in the glove box & the center console. We recently took a trip and after 11 hrs on the road, we were still up for going to the park. No more road fatigue from long trips. My family will have to yell at me from now on as the sound system is awesome!

The first week was great. After that things deteriorated. In the second week and only a few hundred miles, the AC would grind when put on and vehicle would dive and lose power. The tailgate started chattering while driving. The auto locking doors stopped working when placed in drive. The belts starting squealing. I have had two belts replaced along with the pulleyes and tensioners. Also there was a loose bolt in the rear passenger door, and a 3 inch seat securing bolt loose rolling arounfd the interior! All of this in three months of ownership, bought new. Only 3500 miles and the problems still mount. Never will own again!

Just like all expeditions, the brakes last no more than 23,000. Ford denies it, but they used the explorer brakes on the expedition, and they are to small for this larger vehicle. We had to replace the starter, after being stranded several times, when it would not start when warm. Face it, Toyota you will never be!

I first purchsed a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT and was so impressed that I decided to upgrade to the Expedition. It is larger overall than the Explorer and sits higher off the road. I can't get over the field of view you get with the Expedition. These 2 Fords are the first American manufactured automobiles I have owned since my 1967 Pontiac Firebird and it is a wonderful experience.

I have two children and already own a F250 that has been great but needed an SUV. The Epedition was the last one me and my wife looked at and its the one we bought we love it. The ride it great and power is very smooth and quite. There is more than ample room. We have several motorcyles and a waverunner and there has been plenty of power to pull both even up hills. This is this best SUV in its class. Buy the 5.4L V8 its the only way to go with an SUV of this size.

I have had this vehicle for a year and absolutely love it, still. With two kids its perfect for traveling. I looked at Toyota, Land Rover,GMC, Acura but pound for pound you can't beat Ford. I have all options except Nav & Autotrac. My only complaints are the bottom of the drivers seat wears on the edge from getting in/out of the truck and the brake dust (plan to get ceramic pads to take care of this) Mileage is only about 13.4 city and 14.5 highway but I didn't get this vehicle for the mileage. I will be pulling a boat in April and can't wait. Also plan on buying another in June 05 with Nav to replace it just for the heck of it.

I researched all of the SUV's and this one is the largest and most luxurious. Cheaper than others with more and better features. Bought on 4/30/2004. 2 small problems, One with an interior light and the other with the power seat getting stuck on occasion. Dealer has ordered part. Everything else is great. Mileage is what I expected about 12 around town and have seen 15.5 on the Highway. Car has 1800 miles on it and Mileage should improve especially on a long trip, Truck feels heavy Duty and luxurious

The only thing I liked about this truck was the warning sensors for how close you are to objects when you back up. Other than that, I don't see myself buying another Ford Expedition (or Ford Anything) for a long time. I'm glad I bought it - Easier to get rid of it when you own it. I've only had it for about a year and it feels like it's going to break down already. So many things squeak and there are so many interior noises that it makes the truck seem cheaply made and unsafe. Ford does have a wide variety of models to choose from but I'd have to guess that one model is as bad as the next. On a positive note - the horn works well?

I've had the Eddy for 19 months with no problems. I down graded from the Excurion with V10. We love the styling and options, it loaded without side curtains and Navigation. The seating is perfect for 8 adults. We have two kids 18 and 14. Camping and long trips are a breeze. We tow a 9,000 Travel Trailer, with little effort, but the Excution was better. But with the air dam on the Eddy its not problem.

Outside appearance is nicer than the older style, sits lower and feels tighter on the road. It does, however have it's share of rattles and squeaks, something totally unacceptable for a vehicle in this price range. Specifically, the dash, rear window, and tha passenger door window vibrates at highway speeds. Can't tell you what Ford uses on the front brake pads but it's garbage! The brake dust on these trucks is brutal! Funny, they don't acknowledge it as being a problem. I changed pads with 10,000 miles, how bad is that? Finally, the middle row seat needs to recline with the outter two. Ever have kids fighting over seats Ford?

Never have had any troubles even when we had 700 + miles on black ice and snow. The manuvering into parking etc. have never been a problem, all like a charm. We will trade for the same type and model again.

This is my 3rd Expedition. Had a 98 & 01. None ever require repair other than recalls (lug nut 98 & seatbelt 01). As much as we loved the first two, the 04 is more than 2x better. My wife loves driving it as much (or more) than her BMW 328 convertible. On recent trip from Dallas to Vegas, got 16mpg going (against the wind) and almost 18 on return. The only thing we miss is the cupholders in the dash which must have been sacrificed for the in-dash CD changer. Ford seems to have thought of everything. We especially like sliding center rear seat for granchildrens car seat. My wife doesn't like not being able to see outside temp.

I've only had my 2004 E.B. Expedition for a month, but all I can say is what a great, luxurious and smooth riding large SUV. Who needs to pay the extra 15-20K for a Navigator. This one has it all. Very well done interior which looks great in the E.B. 2-tone tan colors. The ride is fantastic, like a luxury car. Very quiet. I am Averaging 15 MPG around town, which I don't think is too bad for a 6,000 pound vehicle. Can't wait to use the 4WD this winter and to tow my boat to the lake this summer. I definately recommend this vehicle to anyone needing to haul family, friends or things.

A lighter foot on the pedal and smoother acceleration for better gas mileage. On average I'm getting about 13m/gal. On long halls about 16.5m/gal. A feeling of modest luxury with a sense of practicality, so an active family of five and the dog can travel in comfort on those sking, biking and camping trips. And don't forget the entertainment center so while the boys play Game Cube, their sister listens to her favorite tunes.

Well I sold it and got me an 04 Expedition and its great, not only did I get it for $24700 its proved very useful. Ive slept in it for days when it wouldnt stop raining while camping out. It was about 10 grand less than a tahoe as well. with the same options, well it has one more the keypad on the door I leave my keys in my cars all the time but now I can lock it. I tend to loose my keys thats why I do that, and where I live not too many cars are stolen. But all in all I love my new expedition, my only regret is not getting the 4 wheel drive.

I loved this SUV but I could not get any better than 12 MPG. I was not heavy on the foot. Highway / in-town, did not matter - extremly poor gas milage. I owned a 2001 Expedition XLT with the 4.6L and it did a whole lot better. I thought the 03 would come close, not even. The estimated MPG that Ford puts on the sticker is a LIE. I fortunately sold the SUV and did not lose much money. I will make it up with the difference in my Toyota Sienna - that I am waiting for. You do not have to wait for a Ford Expedition - I wonder why!!!

I recently owned a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, which to date was the best vehicle I have ever driven, which inludes a fleet of new vehicles over the years. However, this Expedition ranks up there as one of the most best vehicles I have ever driven. It has everything I need and want in a full size SUV, perfect for my growing family. I havn't driven the 4.6L V8 for the Expedition, the 5.4L has plenty of power. The 4.6L V8 in the Mountaineer was EXTREMELY powerful for that small size SUV, but I was hesitant in getting the smaller V8 for the much larger Expedition. No complaints here.

GREAT RELIABLE SUV. A BARGIN IN THIS PRICE RANGE. ROOM FOR UP TO 9 PERSONS & YOU STILL HAVE CARGO ROOM. FORD SHOULD DO AWAY WITH THE EXTERIOR PLASTIC FOR A BETTER LOOK. IF FORD COULD GET BETTER MILAGE ON THIS MODEL IT WOULD BE AN EVEN BETTER SELL. GREAT PICK UP WITH THE POWERFUL V8,AND AS BIG AS IT IS EVEN SOMEONE LIKE ME AT 5 FEET TALL YOU CAN MAKE ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS TO MAKE IT A COMFORTABLE DRIVE. THE SIZE ALSO ADDS TO THE FEELING OF SAFETY, ESPECIALLY THE FACT THAT OU CAN SEE WAY AHEAD OF YOU.

The 2004 expedition eddie bauer is a good car. Other than a few interior mistakes there are no problems. Gas milage is what you would expect in a large suv, and shouldn't matter in the buying process. When the dvd screen is down, forget about using the rear view mirror. When the sunroof is open all the way the noise level is a little high.

This is the third one. The 2003 is a superior vehicle in handling, ride and towing (even over the '97 & '01). I love my car. I put 167000 miles on the '97, 89000 on the 2001, and plan on driving this one for a long time. I sold the two previous to friends that love them ('97 has 215000 now and runs like a new one). No problems with any of these cars.

New Vehicle. The brake dust is terrible. You would think Ford would offer an attractive "Chrome" wheel for their top of the line Bauer model. The gas milage could be better though the power is ok. My 99 Mountaineer had a much nicer message center. This is a nice truck but the design people missed the mark on the message center and wheels.

I had a 2003 Chevy Tahoe and traded for the Ford Expedition. There is no comparison. The Expedition has better features, examples: touch pad entry on driver's door, 3rd row seat fold flat, you don't have to remove it, the middle seats recline, access to 3rd row from both sides, more leg room in rear seats, 3rd row has just as much leg room as the 2nd row, even an adult can sit in the 3rd row without feeling cramped. The Ford Expedition has better braking ability than the Chevy Tahoe. All in all, I think the Expedition is a better choice than the Chevy Tahoe.

After looking at the Lexus GX470 and the Cadillac Escalade, I went with the Expedition hands down. It handles beautifully and will haul anything I can sell, plus our boats! I love sitting high, the back up sensor, the automatic rear seat control and split A/C temp controls in the front seat! My husband and I always fought over the temp...not anymore! I love it!

The interior has a lot of room. Even with the large console in the middle I have a lot of hip room. The leg room is awsome. The ride is ultra smooth. The only negative if nay is the gas milage is mid average, but with even the smaller v8 I have plenty of power. The cockpit is also very quiet, not a lot of road noise. One of the best vehicles by far I have ever owned.

Edmunds - Lauds the Toyota Sequoia and states that they beat Ford and GM. That's horse you know what. I had a 1997 Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer model that I put 185K miles on and it was the best vehicle that I have ever owned period. I've owned Toyota and Honda cars and thought they were unreliable. Don't believe Edmunds review about the Toyota Sequoia. Why would I pay more for a Japanese vehicle that you could not prove to me was more reliable.

We made a small weekend trip the first weekend we had it and it was wonderful! Easy to get in and out of parking places, easy to drive in heavy traffic and fun while doing it! The stero system was awesome! All in all I highly recommend an Expedition for those considering a SUV!

As owner of three expeditions I can actually say this 2004 is the biggest disappointment of the three. The one thing I do like is the power third row seat. As a woman I hate the storage in the front seats. The storage in the doors is useless. You can't get a map out without opening the door, and what's with the cup holders in the door that you can't see let alone reach. Please give me back my 2002 expedition.I also don't like not having the middle arm rest in the second row seats.

We purchased this vehicule as a replacement for our Explorer since to accomodate our growing family. The vehicle interior is very well designed to accept the whole family and the load that comes with it. It's comfortable and has very good handling. BUT quality of the vehicle is mediocre: tinted windows appear somewhat dirty; windows are noisy when sliding up or down, various noises, windshield wipers that won't wipe, etc. Some problems have been fixed, and for the others, well, neither Ford nor dealer wants to help despite obvious problems confirmed by 3rd- party.

Well I'm perfectly happy with my Eddie Bauer 04'. But right away I noticed there is a problem with the air conditioner. Come to find out alot of people with the year 04' have complained of the same thing. Apparently the service department knew of this, and I asked, don't the salesmen know of this, it would of determined if I bought the truck or not. They said yes, but that they wouldn't tell me or anyone else because they want to make the sale. I'm going to be patient and wait and see if Ford comes out with another unit to install. It should be recalled pretty soon. Otherwise I've always been happy with the Ford Expedition.

I stepped up from a 1988 Bronco and what a differance. It has lots of gizzmos and you will find yourself going back to the owners manual quite often. The 10 MPG I'm getting could be improved. The ride and handling are great. Some switches and indicators are blocked by the steering wheel or the shift and signal levers. Front and rear climate control system takes getting used to. Otherwise, a nice truck.

i like my new expedition it ride smooth how i know this because i traded my 2001 expedition in for this new sex beast. when i was testing the tahoe i hate the interior expecially the cloth seats they look like they came from a hyundai accent. the ride was smoothe but felt a lot bigger than it "realy was" the third seat is a waset of good cargo. the outside was ok the rims look like cheap hub caps. if you want a tahoe get the 04 it looks more refined and apealing. the expedition is very stylish in every way the third row seat is roomy enough for my 5ft11" tall brother

After owning over 17 cars/trucks/suv's in the past 12 years this is by far the best, not only for Ford, but any manufacturer. Ride is like a Mercedes without the cost, interior even on the XLT is luxurious and comfortable and space utilazation combined with the innovative features it offers are superb. Triton V8 is so quiet and handling is more like a car than a Truck. I would highly recommend this to anyone in the market for a full size SUV.

Before buying a 2004 Ford Expedition Xlt model. The wife and I owned a 2001 Toyota Highlander V-6. It a great car for two people And I would recommend it,but if you have a family I would not. In 2002,the wife and I became the pround parents of Twins. Suddenly we had no more room in the highlander the double stroller would take up half of the rear area. I wanted to buy the Toyota Sequioa, but it was too much dinero$$, so we shopped around and found a suv that not only had the room and space but was affortable. All I can say we are very happy with Expeditation.

Beautiful black exp. I love it. Except that everytime I get washed, I have to spend up to half an hour wiping the water/wax that drains from the mirror areas, the door handles, the real window and assorted other collection points. If you don't wipe, it streaks as you drive and looks like hell. I like to keep this baby clean but this is too much trouble. For this reason alone, I would never buy another Ford SUV or truck. Drives me nuts.

I test drive and have owned several different trucks from the Dodge Ram Hemi Crew Cab to the Chevy Trail Blazer LTZ North Face- I recently traded them both in for the Ford Expediton XLT 5.4L- I have never been so satisfied with the ride quality, quiet ride, comfortable seats, cargo room, transmission performance, squeek free interior and highway speed ride. I recently towed a 5300 lb trailer (6X12) and I did not know it was there. Braking performance is excellent and it cuts through the snow with ease. I bought my wife the new VW SUV in december, whcich is an excellent performer for a mid/lux/ SUV- but the ford's ride quality can compete!!!

While my 1999 was under warranty I was forced to visit the dealer 4 times for repairs. But it was after the warranty period expired that things really started to go wrong. To date I have spent over $9,000 in repairs since the warranty expired. I am convinced that Ford sold me a defective vehicle and are continuing to sell this same vehicle still today. Sure the new one looks different, buts thatÂ’s just marketing hype. This vehicle hasnÂ’t changed since 1999 just ask any honest engineer or maintenance technician at Ford and they will tell you that the only changes have been cosmetic.

Took the truck with a lease and traded my 91 Bronco in for it with 2500 down. Got kinda hammered with the payments but I needed soemthing new and something that had lots of space inside since I have a large family of 5 to move around. Truck runs really well and handles snow as well as can be expected. It sometimes wants to bring the backend around when turning in the snow but I think this is due to the length and me driving a Bronco for all the years I did. Just gotta get used to it. Gas mileage is pretty low, 28 gallon tank and I get about 260 miles to the tank. Better than my Bronco so I enjoy it. LOL Overall a nice truck

I have wanted one for ever i finaly bought one and it is great. I love them large and roomie. Chevy has nothing on the size or the handline and the well built quality in this truck. Chevy does not have the size at all. only one thing i would love to have a 5.8 ver a 5.4 351. Ford has came along way. Chevy needs to go back to the board when they built a good p-up the last good one was 1970 c-10 4x4 solid truck well built and powerful and they need to get away from the box and go cab foward. NEO

Have 7K miles on it, 4K in last two weeks from NE to FLA and back. Had luggage rack full of luggage, kids had back two rows, and we came back with a carrier on the hitch. Nice ride, ok mileage considering, added weight. Carrying stuff doesn't seem to effect it, even weight on the hitch. Used only 1/3 of a quart in 4K miles, oil stayed clean. Got 14.5-16 mpg @ 75 mph. A few panic stops were fast and straight. Min tire wear, some brake dust.

Very dissappointed with some mechanical aspects. Turning from stop makes noise, other transmission noise between 40-55 mph. Been to dealer (first time at 1800 miles) they are aware of the problems---told it is "clutch" and "pinion". Also having abnormal wear pattern of front tires--I've been told this is a tire problem. Dealer seems aware of these problems (I must not be the only one) but tells me Ford hasn't come out with any fixes yet.

This is our second Expedition. Our first being a 1999. Some things are better, like the third row seat. Vision is terrible when backing up or trying to find blind spots. There needs to be a cup for change. Used to use the ashtray since i did not smoke. The lighter thingy in the compartment is a waste with a second one on the side. Locks are oppisite and will take some getting use to. Seems smaller but much more safer. We really love the 1999 so this will definelty take some getting use too.!!

Our new Ford Expedition XLT belongs to the Mrs. Several positives: plenty of room for the kids; rides high enough above ground to see everything in front of us, nice big exterior sideview mirrors (defrostable type) help to see the sides and rear of vehicle very clearly; the urban legend is true -- the 2004 Expedition rides like a very big car; power everything is nice too; 4WD works very well. If your goal in life is to break the 1/4 mile super stock record, this is not the truck for you. What this V8 has is low end musle, brute force, stump pulling tourqe. Expect no better than 14 mpg average, highway drivers may get as much as 18mpg. Standard equipment on the XLT 5.4 4X4 includes rear A/C and heat, 125 watt sound and enough seating options for any family.

This is my 3rd Expedition and by far this is the worst in quality. This is a complete rattle trap. We have had mirrors replaced, motors replaced, ash trays replaced, front ent taken off - reassembled and re-installed, insulation added to doors. Molding in rear replaced due to coming apart. Re-tweeked and re-tweeked and still cannot fix the passenger side doors from rattling. When speaking with sales and management at Ford, all I get is "Yours must have been made on either a Monday or Friday". Now Ford says that it could be a hot/cold flexing problem which may not be repaired. After the 5th time in the shop, Ford Corp wont even call me back.

I had a Chevy Suburban for 10 years and loved it. Purchased a nearly new 2000 Ford Expedition, and missed the cargo room and the third passenger seating right away! We test drove and searched for the right vehicle for 5 months!! I was going back to the Chevy Suburban or Tahoe and realized the brakes have not been impvoved, as the Ford Brakes stop on a dime! No spongy feel! I also liked the idea of having my cargo room when needed, and my third passenger seating for my family who are 6'2" and need the leg and head room to ride comfortably! Excellent selling point for Ford as Chevy has yet to address those issues.

This is my fourth Expedition since 1997. All of the previous Exp's I have had were subject to severe service and were completely reliable. The chassis and frame are much stiffer offering a bank vault solid body feel. The fit and finish of body panels and interior appointments is excellent. I highly recommend the larger 5.4 liter engine with the 3.73 limited slip axle ratio and the HD trailer tow package.

Ford has done a good job on the interior and the exterior design. Handling is much improved over the '98 and '01 I previously drove, especially the steering. There is much less of what I would describe as a "whip-crack" motion in the '04, when taking curves or changing lanes. Braking is still great, but Ford needs to fix the brake dust issue. The new interior design is comfortable and easy to use. The front seats are more comfortable, and storage is better, as the CD Changer is in the dash. I do miss the inbound storage pockets. You can't use the DVD system and the sat. radio at the same time (bad on long drives). For extreme temp. areas, consider the climate seats.

Did not want to go back to Ford due to past vehicles with shoddy workmanship. 50 - 70k seemed to be all they were good for (Vs. 217k for a toyota van that never needed any major repair). Could not find an acceptable seating configuration and cargo area with the Sequoia, Escalade, Armada. Cargo room in minivans were a joke. This vehicle is great fun to drive with family of 5 + friends. My ONLY complaints about this vehicle are the horrible gas mileage (currently getting about 11 mpg around town) and the break dust on the front wheels that constanltly keep the wheels looking like I just drove out from a coal road.

I researched all the full-size SUVs and in the end nothing delivered Expedition's combination of features, flexibility, and good handling. The fold-flat seat is critical for our family...we can take long trips with the seat folded down and the cargo area filled with luggage, then when we arrive we can fold the seat back up and cart around up to 8. Can't do that with any other full-size SUV, other than the Armada, but for some reason Nissan didn't offer a rear seat that is split in half.

I like the size, it will tow an rv trailer with ease, try that with a honda. It should do well in a crash. We got 17 1/2 mpg on a trip last weekend with most of the driveing at 70 and a good bit at 80 mph . Not bad when you think about it. Our daughter bought a new Pinto in 1979 and it got about 20 mpg, now a large SUV with a 5.4 V/8 getting 17 1/2 I think is a good advance in mileage.

So far we're extremely happy with our Exp. four people went from D.C. to Virginia Beach in it and we were unbelieveably comfortable, it felt more like a run out to lunch than a 300mile trip. We packed so much stuff into this bad boy and we didnt encroach into the 2nd row seat at all. This is our new family workhorse.

The new 2004 Expedition is the best ever! I love the power-fold rear seats. The aluminum lift gate and hood is so easy to open and close. The ride is just fantastic. This Expedition is very, very quit. The AdvanceTrac electronic stability enhancement system is great, along with the automatic tire pressure monitoring system! This Expedition handles so great. The seating space, comfort and configurations are excellent. The dual temperature controls, the dual power seats and the heated and cooled dual front seats are the best! In addition, the rear-view side mirrors have a great feature, they auto-adjust down when you back- up.

I've had the car for 3500 km, so far so good. The back door rattles incessantly over bumps, I haven't had this problem serviced yet, so I hope they can fix it. The fuel economy is abyssmal, but it's a huge vehicle. The handling is surprisingly good given the size.

The Expedition was the only choice for our family in the large SUV's class. Compared to the Tahoe, the interior is considerably more friendly and more useful. Power compared to the others seems to be very simial although each writed seems to think it is underpowerd, we don't seem to think it is. Fuel economy observed so far is 14 city 17 hwy. Interior looks and feels great without the "cheap" looks as in some of its compeditors.

when i picked up my fully loaded eddie bauer instantly i wanted to test its capability on the highway and the new independent supension in atlanta's rush hour traffic.on the highway jumping in and out of lanes it showed the car like ajillity. for a minute was drag racing but got upset from the 260 hp engine that had me thinking what the hell am i doing trying to indy 500 a black school bus.on my way home i turned off my automatic climate air and opened my large sunroof let down the windows.i really felt as if i was floating on air until i hit a bump and nearly broke my neck.other than the hard shock and slow engine i really love my new expedition.

I priced and drove all other large SUVs. The fell of the Expedition on the road was sure footed, unlike the Sequoia. The Tahoe did not have the interior room or the power of the Expedition. The others did not even come close. The Expedition is overall a superior SUV. Test drive all the others fist, just save the best for last.

We bought the new Expidition after getting sick of our Hummer. Although it isn't as fast it gets twice the gass mileage and rides nearly the same. We got a totally base Expition for $25,000. Less than half of our hummer. The Hummer isn't worht the money and the expition is just a basic navigator, it rides just as well.

I know my car is not the best in fuel mileage, but we use it for our business (we have a dredging company) and it hauls our equipment, our RV when we need it when working out of town. I have used it to pull the truck attached to the tool trailer or the equipment up hills when they would not make it on their own. It is unfailingly reliable and wonderfully comfortable to drive. I have never had a car that I liked more. It is luxurious inside and has a short turning radius, making it very manuverable. I cannot think of anything that I do not like about this car.

The Expedition 5.4V8 is powerful and when towing our 2500 lbs. camper you don't even feel it. The ride solid, quiet and very smooth over rough roads. I really like the interior space, layout and appearence. It blows the competition away. The brakes are very strong and provides great stopping even with the 2500 lbs. camper on the back. I test drove all the other big SUVs prior to our purchace, Toyota, GMC, Chevy, etc. prior to our purchace.

THE EXPEDITION IS A MUCH SOUGHT-AFTER SUV. FORD SHOULD CONFIGURE FACTORS SUCH AS ECONOMY, TORQUE, ETC.(ENGINEERIGNG) WITH INTERIORS. CAPTAIN'S CHAIR SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE. 6 CD CHANGER SHOULD BE STANDARD. AND HEADREST MORE ATTENTION AS HEIGHT IS TOO HIGH FOR SMALL 5'2" DRIVERS. SUV'S ARE CONSIDERED SAFER SO THEY ARE USED AS EXECUTIVE VEHICLES, THUS IT IS VITAL FOR FORD TO RETROFIT MODELS AS EXECUTIVE VEHICLES. OTHERWISE EXPEDITION IS A RELIABLE VEHICLE AND I AM ON MY THIRD MODEL, TURNING OVER OLDER ONES TO SOME OF OUR SENIOR EXECUTIVES WHO GLADLY PAY FOR THESE KNOWING THE MAINTENANCE IS GOOD.
