I bought a 2004 Z71 Tahoe from the original owner in 2009. After owning the last 6 years, I can say it is the best, most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. It has 199k miles on it and has only had a few minor issues (1) water pump went out around 140k miles, replaced, (2) began using coolant at a slow rate but no leaks. Mechanic said it was seeping into a cylinder and being burned, recommend I use Alumiseal. I used and it fixed the problem, (3) recently had the "Service Airbag" light come on. I found out the most common problem is corrosion on the front impact sensors. Found a website that explained how to replace them, so I did. Solved the problem.

I purchased our 04' Chevy Tahoe new from the Chevy dealer in 2004 as our daily driver family car and let me tell you, it gets driven every day. It is the base model with cloth interior. Sticker price at the time was $38K. It is now 2015 and we have put over 233,000 miles on this same vehicle and it is still running like a champ with no mechanical issues what so ever. Praise GOD! The only issues we have had are the instrument cluster gauge went out at about 150K miles, which is typical with GM vehicles, and the A/C blower was replaced at around 180K miles. That is it. We have not had any engine or transmission problems of any kind. And to be quite honest we have never had the transmission service done ever on the vehicle like the dealer recommends, just routine oil changes about every 5K - 7K miles, sometimes we have even gone as far as 10K - 12K miles before the next oil change. Just check the fluid levels , (oil, Transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid) from time to time and that is it. Needless to say I will be getting another Chevy Tahoe when the time comes, my goal is to get 500K miles out of this wonderful 04 Tahoe before that day comes. :)

Transmission Needed Replacement at 81,000

Transmission failed at 81,000. Transmission fluid flushed and transfer case fluid serviced at 47,000 miles by Chevy dealer at a cost of $235.00. Service representative told me that the seal between the transmission and (I believe he said) the transfer case failed and the transmission fluid went into the transfer case. Caused transmission fluid to be three quarts low from the internal leak. Even though no fluid ever leaked out of the vehicle, the GM representative said it was my fault because the transmission fluid should have been checked at each oil change. The transmission failed while I was driving down the highway. Total cost of GM remanufactured transmission $3,922 installed.

This GM vehicle has suffered from some of the "known defects" by GM. The instrument cluster has been replaced under warranty, fuel pump became weak and been replaced, the actuators that control the airflow into the cabin become flaky and will start blowing hot air out (you have turn off the car and restart-I've gotten good at doing this while going down the road). The final straw with this vehicle - excessive porosity in the cylinder heads (again, a known issue with GM supplier's CasTech heads) allows steady leaks into the valve train and gets mixed in with the oil. It has gotten bad (1 gal/month) and now at 105,000 miles, this vehicle has to go unless GM steps up. TBD.

I've had my Tahoe for 3.5 years and it has never had any problem of any kind-- I've put 78k miles on it. This fantastic vehicle has the most comfortable 1st and 2nd row seats I've ever seen. The third row, although it has lots of padding, does not have very much leg room, it's great for children. The ride and handling are very good. One high point of this sturdy SUV is it's AMAZINGLY EXCELLENT TRACTION. While other vehicles are spinning around and slipping off the road, this vehicle charges ahead with utter confidence. Good visibility is another high point.

Bought this vehicle used w/ 21,000 miles on it and have now had it for over 4 years and now it has almost 83,000 miles on it. Have had only two minor problems with it, the push button 4x4 went out and had a problem with the steering shaft. I'm debating trading this vehicle, but I hate to so bad. I keep it clean and it just still looks and drives so good. Nothing I've test drove looks or drives as sweet as my Tahoe. This is a great vehicle. Wish I could afford a newer model.

Some GM 2002-2006 V8 motors have factory defects in the cylinder heads. See service bulletins, always adding coolant, loss of coolant and no signs of coolant leaks and heater blows cool air are all signs of possible defective heads. Problem starts small than gets worse with miles. Hedricks Chevy of Fresno, Calif. misdiagnosed my Tahoe and now that extended warranty is out it could cost me over $3000.00 to repair. Poor GM and Hedricks customer service, with no help from factory. I lost my faith with Hedricks and GM customer service. I spent over $45k for this vehicle and expect engine to last over 200k miles with normal service, not get stuck with factory problem. BUYER BEWARE

I needed a SUV to help me out with my every day life I was thinking more along the lines of a trailblazer but I am so happy that I did not get it and got the Tahoe instead this is by far the most impressive vehicle I have ever had the pleasure of owning we recently took a trip to the beach and the roominess of the truck far exceeded my expectations and the gas mileage isn't really that bad Im averaging 22-23 hwy and 18-19 cty plus if I was concerned about gas I would bout a yaris but me and my family really enjoy the size looks and comfort plus with a a K and N air filter new plugs and wires and TB spacers I'm hoping to up my mileage around 26-27 before exhaust changes

I've own my Tahoe for 5 1/2 years. Lowered it and put 20's on it, so the ride is excellent. Even with the 4.8 it tows my wakeboard boat fine. A couple of minor issues, but overall pretty reliable. Mileage is similar to others avg 16-17 with a max of 20. After 75000 still have original brakes with life to go...weird. Biggest disappointment is the engine has piston slap and GM said that was "normal" and wouldn't do anything. May not buy another GM because of that.

I actually just got off the phone and asked in regards of the "recall" for the speedometer problem and was told that it cannot be done after 70,000 miles free of charge, that I would have to pay $500.00. I was told that GM was ONLY doing this out of "COURTESY" and that it was NOT an official safety recall. Well what happens when you are driving and not know how fast you are going, is THAT not count as a SAFETY?

Bought new in Nov 03. Always loved it. PLENTY of pick up - really gets up and out of it's own way on the highway. We don't use the 3rd row often - can be a pain to install quickly (and store). No blind spot to speak of at al. Also remember having odometer replaced as a warranty issue. Small things here and there but overall a totally reliable, amazing car.

I now have 85k miles on this tahoe. Mechanically, it is in perfect condition! Only repair was the 4wd system sensor: $700. Cosmetically, I keep it washed and waxed and am amazing how it still turns heads. I drive Pacific Coast Highway every day, and to the mountains or river every weekend. I have absolutely not concern that this vehicle will make it to 250k miles if cared for properly. This is the best SUV for the money.

But it never fail me! I would buy again this SUV Wonderful vehicle. I am only selling do to the fact my kids are gone in collage, and I don't need this large SUV anymore. :(

Bought the truck new in 04 and now it has 136,000+ miles but the first 30,000 weren't trouble free. In the first 30,000 half the engine had to be rebuilt, it overheater numerous times, and some electrical components shorted- out. Also the 4wd gave out right after the warranty ended, and also the water pump had to be replaced at 100k and the windshield wiper fuild motors. Also the Speedometer doesn't work anymore and it is a recall that the dealers won't honor. Although after the 30k make the truck has held up well mechanically. The exterior has held up great and the interior as well with the exception of the paint coming of the radio dials. Normal leather seat wear. Next car will be a ford.

Going strong at 85k mi.

I bought this Tahoe a few years ago with around 40K miles on it. The speedometer broke at 60K, and shortly after GM recalled them, but by that time I was at 71K, so they would not refund me the $600. Overall it is comfortable, and fun to drive. Typical GM though, many interior lights are burned out, and everything is starting to rattle. Other than that, there have been no major problems.

Purchased used with 50K miles. Typical 15 to 18 on the highway. 12 mpg with 16 ft boat. We installed a Hypertech Econ programmer. Boat went to 15 mpg, highway steady 19 to 20 between 60 and 65 mph. Installed a Flexalite electric fan. In my son's words "the fan is sick!" 23 mpg on the highway! Have not towed the boat. Only vehicle in the family that can carry all of us any distance (all over 6'). Power increase is noticeable! This thing is within 1 mpg of our Toyota Camry! Why didn't GM build it this way?

This is my first Chevy vehicle ever! The previous owners bought it new and had all the service records for it.The truck had 52K miles when I purchased it and has 59K now. No major problems yet, my local chevy dealer said though I needed a new a/c belt, and something in my steering column needed to be replaced, cost was about $250 with labor to repair both. My rear brake light went out, now that was expensive... the part itself was $250, and you can't buy it at any part store cause its a LED light. Great smooth ride and great pick-up. Love the space. The truck is not to big nor to small for a single guy with no kids

Love this truck, very reliable, only had 2 warranty issues and I have 96k miles on it. Need to stay away from Delco batteries, had to finally get an interstate as Delco kept dying in less than a year. Now teaching daughter to drive it. She loves it also. Still drives like new, even with high miles. Good seating, kids like DVD player, great AC, really keeps inside cool on over 100 degree days.

Our driving mainly consist of 70% highway and 30% city driving. Overall, between my wife and I driving this SUV, we are getting an average of 17.8 MPG. This is based on the computer MPG read readout. We love the the Tahoe for its overall performance, roominess, features and comfort. I read some reviews and noticed some bad reviews on the cheap plastic materials used. Okay, maybe but keep in mind this is an SUV.It's meant to be rugged not a luxury SUV like Range Rover or Mercedes. I don't mind the interior materials as-is.

I'm happy with my 2004 Z71 Tahoe after almost 5 years. Just turned 45k on the mileage & just replaced the original tires with Goodyear Silent Armor. The ride really smoothed out. Problems: Mileage is really awful. The black painted front grill pealed (think a rock chipped it). The tire pressure monitor went haywire (I got a tire gauge). Lastly I wish the driver seat was a little more firm. My wife's Honda Pilot seat is awesome. With that said I still love my Tahoe. The room, the height, the looks, the cushy ride. Its my highway cruiser that can off-road it if need be.

Truck is great, bought it a few months ago and have had several trips in it out of town. It does extremely well for a V8 with this size of truck, I was averaging 22mpg and made it from Panama City, FL to Tampa, FL on a little under 1/2 a tank (5hrs). The interior design is great, minus the extra holder space on top of the center console, you can't get into the console without moving things off that space. I love the extra power outlet in the back, as well as the Bose stereo system-has great sound. I live on a backroad that leads out to a 4 lane highway and I know that when I come to the stop sign, this truck definitely has the get up and go to scoot out into traffic when I hit the gas.

We just bought our Tahoe and I absolutely love it! I have to remember to take it out of all wheel drive when I first get in, so that I'm not using to much fuel. In doing this, it takes me from 15.9 to.. the best so far is 20.6 mpg. But, the average is 19.7. Hope this helps someone. Not all of the 2004's I've noticed are like mine. Mine has 3 buttons to the left of s/w. 4 Low, All wheel and the T/C. I hit the T/C before putting in gear, this is what helps with the MPG.

I bought my Tahoe used, off fleet, with about 14k miles on it back in 2005. As of Sep 2008 I can say this is a wonderful rig for what it is. Very comfortable. Great fuel economy for a vehicle of its size. Reliable. Good off road when I take it hunting (and the back is large enough for me to sleep in). For a family with two kids and a dog, our Tahoe fits perfectly. We often use the third row seats, so that's another nice addition. Overall, for its purpose, this is a great rig.

I have really been fortunate. Mine is fully loaded and all of us have enjoyed it. The vehicle has been excellent. We have driven many different terrains (on- road, off-road), mountains, pulled boats, cargo trailers, etc. and it has handle itself very well. The mpg is not too bad for an SUV. Average around 17.5. I can't think of anything that I would change except for the third row seats. Frankly, I like it better than the 2008 Tahoe.

2004 Tahoe LS 2WD, 5.3 liter flex fuel. We bought this vehicle in anticipation of reliability, decent mileage, good priced and to haul a large family in style. We got all four. We had one repair, which was a recall item. With 2wd, we had up to 22 MPG on the freeway (Catback exhaust and cold air intake). Impressive. City mileage is on par with other SUV's. We have had nine people in the Tahoe without any complaining. The only design flaw I see is the difficulty on how the rear passengers get in and out. Difficult task for an adult 6 foot or larger, but let room in the second row is great. All in all a comfortable family vehicle!

Bought it from Carmax with 60 miles. Around 65 miles the speedometer went out, next the oil pressure sensor went out and I finally replaced the whole cluster...cost $400. Around 80 miles the flex fuel pump went out...the cost to replace was$1100. As I type this it is at the dealership because it has started leaking coolant and oil...the estimated cost is $1850.I'm very disappointed in my Tahoe and as much as I've enjoyed the features and roominess I will never buy another one.I'm disappointed in Chevy too because I've learned through all of these repairs that these are all very common in Tahoes. It's not fair that the consumer is left to pay when these are all common issues even in later models

We purchased the Tahoe for my wife but I like it so much that I rarely drive my own SUV. Drives great for such a large vehicle . However, I don't recommend exceeding the speed limit by much on sweeping mountain turns - I always feel on the edge of falling off the mountain. Other than a recurring clunk in the steering column (no effect on performance) the build quality has been excellent. If you have leather the heated seats are a must in cold weather.

I bought this fully loaded Z71 as a demonstrator in November, 2004. A local baseball celebrity had driven it 3,200 miles in six months. The truck is great to drive--quiet, lots of power, and acceptable fuel economy for the vehicle size. I occasionally tow a utility trailer with my dirt bikes (about 1,000 lbs) and you don't even realize it is behind the truck. Unfortunately, the truck only has 35k miles and it has been rather troublesome. The battery completely died several times during the first winter (computer software update fixed it), the steering intermediate shaft has failed twice (20 & 25k), the 4WD system failed (33k--encoder motor) and the water pump is now leaking (35k).

We purchased our Tahoe as a combination work and play truck, it performed both fantastically. With its leather seats and luxury feel we were proud to have clients ride in it, from a custom home on a paved road to acreage located on top of a mountain with no road, all were very comfortable. On weekends we went four wheeling and our Tahoe got down and dirty like we did. We went thru rivers and to the tops of mountains, dirt road or no road at all made no difference. Best truck we ever purchased.

I travel all around the Southeast for my job, so I need a big, comfortable car that I love to drive. The Tahoe fit that perfectly. I have always driven Chevrolets and Buicks, my wife always drove a Toyota. When I got this Tahoe LT in 2004, my wife was sitting in a Black Z71 the next month, so I drive a 2004 and she drives a 2005. It really turned her into a Chevy lover! Like I said I travel and have 91k miles on it, but I hate to sell it. I don't like the new ones, so I'm going to buy a low mile 2006 whenever I hit 100k. No major issues with repairs except the AC compressor at 80k, but it was covered under my extended warranty.

I've owned my 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71 for about 8 months. I've put approximately 12K on the odometer. I've used it for just about everything, from normal city/hwy driving, towing my trailer, to several off road 4x4 adventures. I've never had any problems other than the odometer stop functioning, and it was replaced free of charge by Chevy. It has handled every conditon, and drives like a Cadillac, smooth and easy. I have 305-70R16 Dunlope/Remington tires mounted on Centerline rims. I get approx. 18 mpg hwy and 15 city on good days driving the speed limit on cruise control.

This is my second Tahoe Z71. My '03 was somewhat of a lemon. A beautiful vehicle, but with a number of small and one large problem. I took a chance and bought another and I am glad I did. I am a big guy 6 ft 250 and need a big vehicle. I love this truck. It is comfortable, roomy, good off road and in bad weather. It carries pretty much everythig I need to carry and can pull what can't be carried. Does everybody need a full size SUV, no. But America is the land of choices and I am glad that I have the choice to own a Tahoe. My wife owns a Land Cruiser that cost $15,000 more and it doesn't have near the power, comfort, room, amenities or gas mileage(the Tahoe's could be better).

I'm a luxury car driver. I needed the SUV for the winter and long drives down I95 south. at first I was a lil afraid because the SUV (Z71) sits so high and the vehicle is very large seating 7 passengers and I'm only 5'4". Once I got used to it I'm loving it. The DVD is great for my 3yr old and the vehicle has a lot of room for my 6'3" teenage son. There is also plenty of space for cargo, whether it be groceries, luggage, bicycles, or motorized cars for the tiny tots. I recommend it to any and all. This vehicle definitely turns heads on the roadway.

I admit that this Tahoe was not my first choice. I wanted an Armada, but the wife did not want to wait while I saved. We compared it to the Expedition, and it was not an option for us, plus the 3 benches sold the wife on it. We got the 5.3l engine and I am very happy with it. I have installed a K&N FIPK on it and a Flowmster 40 series. While the 40 series is a bit resonant for my taste, the overall improvement (there was an obvious one) was WELL worth the resonation. I have towed a couple of compact vehicles on trailers with the Tahoe and there was little impact to the gas mileage. I wish that the drivers seat design had been designed better, but it isn't TOO uncomfortable for long rides.

This is the third new Chevrolet vehicle that I have owned and I have been very happy with it. You sit up very high and can see the entire road and everything that it is ahead of you. The ride is very comfortable and handles extremely well especially on the highway at upper speeds. My wife was opposed to a mini van, so we looked at the Toyota Seqouia, Honda Pilot, before deciding to purchase this vehicle. On several occasions we have sat 4 adults and four children comfortably. If you need some space to hall around a family and their gear this would be an excellent choice.

Nice looking truck, lots of power, very comfortable, but trouble started early. Repeated problems with the transfer case that should have been fixed under warrenty, but turned into a parts changing excercise. The transmission now slips and clunks. The shaft in the steering column wore out. A rattle under the vehicle that can not be located (not a heat shield; inside the exhaust?), the climate control can not hold a consistant temperature. I'm trading it for an Infiniti while it still has some trade in value.

Wonderful car - we drive from LA to Scottsdale 4 times per year. The freeway ride is luxurious and comfortable. The DVD player is a must have for the kids. Third row seat is pretty handy, but wow, you get a lot of storage space when you remove them. I considered a Range Rover but am so glad I bought this - it's not as luxurious, but the bang for the buck is much higher in the Tahoe. All this and it tackles rain and snow on ski trips flawlessly.

This is my third Tahoe. In the past, I've gotten about 20 mpg on my daily commute, and have been very satisfied with the performance. This new Tahoe gets 12-14 mpg! Very disappointed. Dealership has checked vehicle, nothing they can do. Fuel economy will be the top priority in my next vehicle purchase, the Tahoe won't make the cut. Can't even trade at this point because of the flood of rebates and "employee pricing" out there - I've had it for 7 months and owe $12K more than someone can buy a NEW one for! Makes it impossible to get rid of!!

For this very basic LS, I bought 18" Michelin Pilots (truck came with 16" Goodyears, I believe)- truck now gets average of 20 mpg. I put in many miles per annum - don't just accept the "myth" of poor mileage! Also, the smoother-riding, after-market tires enable my elderly parents to enjoy traveling in this high-riding limo.

I have always owned GM vehicles, but never a full-size SUV. GM and Chevy do not get the recognition that they deserve! This Tahoe is great in the snow and surprisingly easy to maneuver in tight spaces. 16,000 miles and not a single complaint, and great service from the Chevy dealer. Sport Red with the factory brush guard gets the looks and comments from many. I just smile and say, "Yeah, it’s mine.”

At 33 I decided that I would switch to American made cars (Patriotism...not vehicle reputation). I was surprised to find that I prefer driving my Tahoe LT to my old Camry LE V-6 stick. Better view, comparable pick-up when I need it, and never a concern about the weather (Detroit weather is NOT kind to commuters). The stability control system is amazing, it handles so well you have to work just to make it fishtale in the snow (my kids think its funny ;) ). The build quality was better than I expected with no issues/problems to report. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and look forward to many years (fingers crossed) with this great vehicle.

I have owned imports for the last 20 years. I took a chance on a new Tahoe. The size is just right for me. Great horsepower from the engine and a very nice ride. BUT fuel ecconomy stinks. The interior is cheap cheap cheap. I've got potholders that hold better than the carpet. Leather seats have lost luster, crack and are spongy. Tailgate says open when closed; been back three times to dealer. Window trim pieces now squeak. Transmission slips and brakes groan and it's not even a year old!!! Heated sears are nice. Onstar is a rip off. GM wants $295.00 a year to renew it. They can keep it. LT= last time I'll spend the dough. There are better values in the market place.

Outstanding power, comfort and 4WD. Chose this over all others because of leather seat comfort, visibility and other consumer ratings. 10K miles on it after five months and no problems. Not even a rattle.. I drive long miles for work and the seats with lumbar support are unmatched for my bad back. I'm getting about 17 mpg. Seat comfort is the best I've seen, especially on long trips.

When we took the Tahoe to the dealer Â…1,600 miles Â… Renee & I found the car a faulty Rad which leak coolant into the tranny causing major damaging not limited to the torque converter. Anyway, thank God the dealer step up & provide an extended warrenty on the new transmission. Let hope everything goes smoothly now that the transmission is fixed!!!

1st time Tahoe buyer - I've driven foreign cars for the last 10 years. Turning radius is much better than my old Maxima. Seats are very comfortable, but a drivers foot rest would be nice. Also the gas and brake pedals are offset a few inches (gas 1 - 2 inches lower)- no big deal. Excellent to drive, very quiet for an SUV. We got buckets seats in the 2nd row - much easier to get into the 3rd row seats than with 2nd row bench. 3rd row seats not easy to remove, so we leave them in. Fit, finish and quality very good - so far.

Fantastic all around vehicle! Great design, great styling, great power. Very comfortable seats, tall riding position, and easy to see out of. Terrific blend of a manageable size (200" length is less than many cars), with great passenger space and cargo utility. Also, the Tahoe turns very tightly in parking situations - very impressive for a large vehicle. The Z71 trim brings a firmer, more solid ride (which I like) and a more unique look. My only regret is that I didn't get a Tahoe earlier.

This is a bigger car but the gas millage is much better than trailblaizer. I don't understand it? It is roomy and so comfort ride. next after this i am going to give a subburn a trial, however because it is longer car i may just stick with tahoe. It is so much stronger car and greater for off road. My wife had 4runner, v8 and this car spend less gas than that car. Chev has a winner here.

Hi! I traded a 2002 Tahoe for a fully loaded Z71 and I am completely blown away from the quietness, smoothness and power of the new Tahoes. The Z71 suspension is awesome and the truck as a whole beats the Denali that I was looking easily. The Z71 is a lot lighter on the road, very responsive and well manuverable. Since the sticker price is $47495 I would like to see HID lights and air- conditioned seats though.... The DVD system is AWESOME by the way. I wish I had a driver.... NOT! :)

This is our second Tahoe. Our first was a 2002 4wd that we sold rather than drive it to our new location when we moved. Got a great resale price for it. Tahoe is big and bad enough to haul my trailer and handle off-road duties while still being user-friendly to my wife when she hauls the kids or groceries around town. Easy to drive/park.

I traded a 2002 Tahoe LT in on a 2004 Tahoe Z71 and I couldn't be happier. The newer Z71 rides even better than my 2002 Tahoe. The steering is much easier and acurate. The ride is car- like. It has tons of power...although I must say the mileage is paltry at best. But hey, if you want the power and hauling ability, you forego the mileage.

After looking at and test driving both the Expedition and the Land Cruiser, the Tahoe was by far the best vehicle in it's class. This is my first Tahoe and I probably won't buy anything else. My Z71 is fully loaded including heated seats (although I can't see myself using it, my wife might). It handles like a car rather than a large SUV and is just as plush as a luxury car. The engine is very powerful, though the gas mileage suffers driving the way I drive. Very roomy interior. I love the fact that I can listen to the radio, one daughter watches a DVD and my other daughter can listen to her CD's. All at the same time!! I would recommend this SUV to anyone.

It definetely lives up to its rep !!!

I wanted to buy an SUV for a while, and my kids were set on one only -- the Great TAHOE. I'm glad I listened to them. It is a strong, well built, confident SUV - yet it makes me feel sporty and dressed up a the same time. It has a powerful yet smooth ride, with a large yet easily accessible interior. It's a fun car to take trips with or simply zip around town everyday shopping with the kids. I have always given Chevrolet the seal of approval - The Tahoe simply validates what I always knew. I would recommend this SUV to anyone - After owning one, I can see why its one of the most sought after SUV's.....

I researched the Tahoe for the best price using Edmunds and CarsDirect. The day before I go to make the offer the dealer called and said they were offering the Tahoe's at $12k below MSRP. It was an offer that I couldn't refuse. I knew that the dealers and GM had to do something to clear their SUV inventory but I had no idea that they would offer what they have at this much of a discount.

Bland exterior styling and clumsy interior. But for all the fuss about the poor quality of american-made cars this vehicle has performed as reliably as any asian import. Dollar for dollar the Tahoe is the most intelligent choice in it's class. You get power, comfort & convenience for a lot less than you would pay for a smaller less well equipped import. If you can get over your nervousness about buying an american-made auto you will be pleasantly surprised and rewarded with your investment.

I would recommend this vehicle to any serious buyer without reservation. Features on my present Tahoe that I like are; XM radio, computerized information system, and self adjusting seat. We just purchased our 2004 Tahoe LT and are having a blast driving it. The dark green is always an eye-catcher. We have 2 very young children and live near lots of family. It is very roomy and comfortable. We had rented one to take to California for a month and felt very safe in it. We had rented a new Explorer the time before and did not like it. We are very very happy about our decision to purchase the Tahoe. There is no other way to travel. The Tahoe is the only way to go.

Tahoe. The name says it all. Simply put, the standard that all SUV's are judged by. Year after year you see them everywhere. And for good reason. The interior, quiet & comfortable. The exterior, absolutely gorgeous! New for '04 is the most perfect color ever, Silver Birch (creamier than white, yet lighter than GM's previous Sandlewood). This color hides the dirt, making it super easy to keep clean! Believe it or not, the exterior of the LS is more attractive than the upscale LT. Why? The LS uses black trim on all handles, rather than a matching color. The contrast really makes it! Seating for 9, too! Wow! Pay < 30k out the door. You can't beat th

I was so satisfied with my Tahoe and its performance, I traded it for a new 2004 Tahoe Z71! I love my new Tahoe- its design, comfort, amenities, and vesitility. This suv is nice I jus bought it in July but unfortunately because of a poor customer service event in buying the suv I am trading it in for a Chrysler Pacifica. This gas mileage sucks worst than expected. The dealership experience was the worst I have ever encountered. They wouldn't give me a full tank of gas when I bought the darn thing! I replaced a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 with a 2003 Tahoe Z71. My fist reaction to the Tahoe was that it was slow compared to the Jeep but clobbers it in comfort and capacity. It's great for taking a group to the slopes or hunting but it is not an off-raod vehicle beyond a dirt road. My friend has the Z71 too and by adding duel exhaust an airbox and driving in 3rd gear it helps with the sluggish accelaeration. I will make the same alterations once my warranty expires. Overall I think it's a great vehicle for weekenders who travel betweeen houses or people with larger families as the cargo capacity and comfort is great.

I am a former Landrover owner and happened to have a new 2004 picked out when my husand asked me to "please take a moment and just test drive the tahoe" and that was the end of my Landrover ownership years! The tahoe drives so well, I just don't want to ride in any other vehicle - and with all of the room I always volunteer to drive my friends around town. I own the version with the captains chairs on the second row and this makes the third row seating very accessable and comfortable. I have owned many vehicles and this is by far my favorite - drivability, safety, towing ability, interior design, great looking exterior.......

Looked at all the rest; minivans (Sienna, Caravan, Odyssey), crossovers (Pacifica), mid-fullsize suv's (Toureg, XC90, MDX, RX330, Armada). We kept coming back to the Z71. Safety features, cargo space and creature comforts all fit the bill. When you want to travel in style, in any climate, you can't beat the value this mature platform brings to the table. You'll find yourself jumping behind the wheel for no reason at all other than to tour the neighborhood! And...yes...for those who whine and pummel the Tahoe for its fuel efficiency...maybe you should have considered a smaller vehicle or a hybrid..hmm? Until then...leave the BIG DOGS alone!

We bought a brand new white chevy z71. It listed for 47,992 with the options we put in it. It is one of the most horrible cars, seriously. You feel like your driving a 10,000.00 car from the inside. EVERYTHING on the dash and center console is plastic, and to top it all off there is horendiously cheap looking vinyl on the backs of the seat. It cruises well on the highway at aroud 70 but taking turns at 30 off exits is scary. Lately i have been hearing a esterior wistle and i dont know what it is...but i cant wait for a month to replace it with the new range rover.

My Tahoe has 37000 miles is used as family car and pull camper on vacations. Gas milage 19/20 mpg pulling camper 12/13 mpg. Returned to deal for routine maintance only. Third row seat is little cramped. When time comes will replace with another Tahoe or like vehicle.

the title says it all. Poor low back support with the adjustable lumbar support too high for me and not height adjustable. Poor padding in the aft portion of the lower cushion and the rear end or driveline clunks loudly when shifting 1st to 2nd 2nd to third or downshifting much of the time. Told this was normal. Also rough idle sometimes and unusual sounds at idle. Told this was normal for a chevy not by selling dealer but by others.

The truck is solid, quiet, and has a smooth ride. Performance is very good with the 5.3L engine, even for a heavy truck. Towing my 5,500# trailer is a breeze. Fuel economy is somewhat lacking, even with a light foot. Build quality appears to be very good, even better than my '98 Tahoe.

I leased my Z71 about 2 months ago and absolutely love it. The ride is better than any othe SUV I have ever driven. At 55 on the highway I did average well over 20 MPG. As the speed goed up it does drop down below 20, but still better than my old Grand Cherokee.

I am not a big fan of SUV's. I was in market for a mini-van. However after allowing myself the opportunity to test drive this vehicle I was sold. It had more room for my children, more versatility for those weekend baseball games and soccer games, and when it came down to a road trip the comfort factor could not have been matched. With the included features such as on- star, it gives you plenty added ease of mind. Also good to mentions are the XM radio and the Bose sound system. If you are going to pick up a Tahoe, opt for the LT. Avoid the 4WD option, unless needed. It will just run up maintainence costs. the 2WD can tow quite a load on its own merits.

We, as a family, love our 2002 Tahoe except for one very irritating thing. There is a wind noise on the drivers side that two dealers have not been able to stop. From about 60 miles an hour, the noise is so loud we can hardly hear a normal conversation.

Make sure you take an extended test drive before you buy. Look for a vibration in the gas pedal below 40 MPH and a surge coming through the brake pedal especially noticeable right after stopping. The dealer tried hanging dampers from the exhaust system and eventually replaced the entire exhaust system. I complained to Chevy, and bottom line, they don't know how to fix the problem. Unbelievable!! I previously owned a 2001 Chevy Tahoe Z- 71 and it was perfect--- no compaints.

I shopped and shopped for the Tahoe that I wanted. I wanted the dark gray exterior with tan leather interior. I finally found it in samll dealership a two hour drive from my home. we settled a deal by fax and phone. They stayed open late so I could drive down and get it. drove it back enjoying all of the new features, XM radio, adjustable pedals and loving the smell of that new leather. Some helpful questions to ask when purchasing a Chevy Tahoe: 1. Why do you want a SUV? 4-wheel drive is an advantage in the winter. 2. Tahoe is heavy and has poor gas mileage. Are you driving long distances. I travel 250 miles on the weekends and the gas consumption is higher. 3. Do you have a big family? I have five in my family and Tahoe is roomer than most.

Surprised the the new LS feels more refined. Bought the upscale LS with bucket seats, Bose, + trip computer/stearing wheel controls. Purchased the 5.3 and got 15+mpg first 2 tanks and 16+ third tank. Golly, darn.....all this power and size and repectable milage to boot. Love my Tahoe

Gas milege could be a little better but, I 'll settle for marginal gas mileage for all the other things I like. The Tahoe has a European car like ride but still feels good off the road. Idont think that the Cadillac or the GMC dollar fkor dollar offer more SUV. I'll stick with my Tahoe.

I highly reccomend the Tahoe Lt 4x4. It is very very comfertable and is not only a great family car, but a fun toy too! The leather heated seats help so much with back pain. The heat eases it away. The dvd/tv is great to keep the kids busy while going on very long trips.I had a sun roof put in by the dealer which is nice. I can look up at the stars and enjoy!!! The only not so good thing is the trunk space. It is very limited, but if you dont need the very back seats you can fold them down and it makes more room. So its not that big of a deal. (The LT seats 8 and the Z71 seats only 5.) I love my tahoe !!!!

Very satisfied w/the LS. Upgrades include: Bose system, leather, Sun Safe and something, towing pkg, 17" wheels, LS Prf'd, 5.3 engine, and 3rd row seating (saleman stressed it b/c of resale value). The LS makes the commute almost enjoyable. The ride is non-SUV-like as the bumps seem to dissappear. Looked at other vehicles at this price point (cars and SUVs) and concluded the Cheverolet offered more vehicle for the $$$.

I feel SOOOOO safe when I drive my 2004 Chevy Tahoe. The comfort of this vehicle is like NO OTHER car I have ever had. I especially adore the DUAL temp and the ease of getting in and out of the car, and the location of all the buttons. They are all in very convenient spot so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road for more than a second. I also feel extra safe with my On-Star Program and built-in cell phone. I know that my passengers and I could get help immediately if anything were to tragicly happen.

The Tahoe was intimidating to me at first, after a few drives I find it to be a pleasure to ride in and drive. It handles like a dream, my car requires more hands on driving than the Tahoe. I was in a terrible snowstorm with it and I was stuck to the road the entie trip home, everyone around me was not! I feel very safe when I am in this SUV, and and very happy to own it.

I've never driven a vehicle that was so quiet. The Tahoe has a built in feature which stops someone from trying to start the engine when it's already running. It definitely needs it. It drives and handles very nice. The turning radius is great! I'm very happy with all the ammenities the Tahoes has. It is loaded which is great for someone like me who loves gadgets. The Tahoe is definitely built around cutting-edge technology involving ammenites, safety, engine, brakes, and even the frame. I'm very happy so far with my Tahoe! It is built like a Rock!

I love my new Tahoe. It is fun to drive and has plenty of power to pull our Sea Doo's back and forth from the Colorado River. It is comfortable and easy to drive. My one criticism is that for the price the inside could be a bit nicer. We previously had owned 2 Chevrolet Astro's. They worked for what we needed them for at the time and we enjoyed owning them but we are enjoying the Tahoe even more.

MPG with our winter fuel has not been impressive. I am still adusting to Stabil track as opposed to auto track. So far we like the truck.

I had a 2002 Z71 Tahoe and last Saturday was involved in an accident where the other driver ran a red light and hit me in the right rear wheel area. The Tahoe skidded to the left sideways and when it hit the curb it rolled over. I walked away without a single scratch. The insurance people totaled my car. I turned right around and purchased a 2004 Z71. This one is identical to the 2002 except more bells and whistles on the interior and a much improved sound system. But there is a big difference in the ride and the quietness of this vehicle from the 2002. I loved my 2002 but the 2004 I can tell is quickly winning me over! Plus the Tahoe saved my life!

THIS IS THE THIRD TAHOE WE HAVE OWNED. NO MAJOR PROBLEMS. I DID HAVE A VIBRATION IN MY 2001 MODEL, AND IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP FOREVER TO FIND. THE VEHICLE IS FUN TO DRIVE, VERY RESPONSIVE,VERY COMFORTABLE. IT'S ONE OF THE FEWLARGE SUV'S THAT OPERATES ON REGULAR GAS. RELIABILITY I BELIEVE IS VERY GOOD, REGARDLESS OF WHAT CONSUMERS REPORT SAYS. IF YOU LISTEN TO THEM, YOU WON'T EVER RIDE IN ANYTHING BUT A FOREIGN CAR ANYWAY. I HAVE HAD FRIENDS THAT OWN FOREIGN CARS AND THEY SAY THEY ARE VERY RELIABLE. BUT YOU BETTER STAY AWAY FROM THE PARTS DEPT. AT THE DEALERSHIP.

No real serious problems, except for what I paid for it. Never bought a vehicle that pricey before. All in all I am very satisifed with the Tahoe. I love my truck. As someone who drives ALL the time (about 3k mi. a month), I can honestly say I have never felt more comfortable (for the most part), safe, sporty, etc. Its hard to imagine an SUV feeling sexy..but this truck delivers! Its still brand spanking new (4 months old), so if it wasn't still reliable, I would be upset. The fuel rating is actually a bit better than I expected. Prior to this truck, I owned another full sized, albeit 6 cyl., SUV...it got around 20 mpg...my Tahoe gets around 18. I have been supremely pleased with this truck.

I test drove other trucks in its class, (ie Epedition, ect.) but nothing held a candle to the Tahoe, except for an Escalade or an H2, but for huge difference in price I am not disappointed. I bought the 2003 without even driving it. It had all the bells and whistles and I was more than pleased. Better steering, took the bumps better, better mileage and a lot better excelleration than the '95. It was hard for me to spend more money on a car than I spent on my house 28 years ago. Tahoe is nice, but it comes at a high price. Right now the truck is at the dealer because I'm getting water in the truck after I use the A/C or after driving in the rain. Carpets are soaked and stained. Should NOT have a 1960's problem in 2003. FIX IT! I have owned a bunch of Pontiac's and Chevy's in the past and to be honest, I'm done with GM! Looking at a Seqouia now and dumping the Tahoe. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Did you outsource parts from India or China???? Also had a front axle leak, knocking sound on startup and some drivetrain noises. The list goes on...

This is a great vehicle. I did not want to go with the Suburban because I do not have a large load to tow around so the Tahoe was a great fit. It really is not that bad on gas. I can go a week (full 7 days) on a half a tank. However, if you let it get down to empty, know that you are looking at around $30 with prices the way that they are now. I think it is worth it though. It is good in city driving and high way driving and it is spacious. Overall, I love this truck and would recommend it to anyone. I am 23 and I could see myself and my future family still having a Tahoe years from now.

this vehicle is driven by my wife, she demands reliable transportation, and this is what we have received. Being raised in GM orientated families, GMC's and Chev's have been our families favorites for many, many years... even our 2 grown sons drive Chev Z-71 pickups. Future purchases will always put a new Chev/GMC product in our front yard.....brian edgerton

The Chevy tahoe is great. In fact our family has 5 of them. They are realiable, very good looking, fun to drive, and most of all affordable. The chevy tahoe should be in a class by itself.

very good

This is an excellent vehicle, I love the way it handles, and its cargo capacity makes it multi functional. With the third seats, we are able to seat plenty of kids and still have room for camping gear. The biggest complaint I have is that now all my friends and relatives expect help when moving.

This truck is a fabulous truck. Mine has 22000 miles on it and not a problem. I drive and beat my truck. It takes all of the abuse without any questions.

Was very suprised when I took this vehicle on it's first 500 mile trip how comfortable and efficient. 17.8 Milage and average speed of 54 mph. Bose radio and HVAC system is excellent. noisy in the front end at 70 mph is may only gripe.

Very Happy with my purchase

I recently purchased my Z71 Tahoe. My husband was hesitant to do so, because of the fact that I am 5'2" tall. However, I feel safety and control in this type of SUV. We are planning to have a family soon, this SUV, makes me feel that putting another life in it, will be safe! I absolutely would recomend it to every Mom or Mom to be out there, tall or short instead of a minivan! Thank you.

The Chevy Tahoe is a car that I've always wanted since the revision of the car in 2000. I was able to purchase a used 2003 after being in service for only 10 months and with low milage. My wife and I absolutely love the Tahoe and it has been very dependable and lots of fun to drive. It is also very roomy and delivers fair gas milagae for such a large vehicle

This is the first American vehicle I owned, I bought it mainly to pull our boat. Love the huge amount of torque, hp is ok. Mileage is 13 or so. Ok lots of rattles (compared to the previous Nissans and Toyotas), and it hasnt even gone off road. Every button or switch is different, why? And VERY cheap feeling. Plastic work is poor.

The Tahoe is like riding on a cushion of air. It's sporty enough for tailgating, classy enough for sunday services, and rugged enough to haul drywall, plywood, and alll my tools. With the flat folding second row and removable third row, I can haul plenty without a trailer. It is the perfect vehicle for family, work, and play.

This vehicle has been a dream to drive. Very responsive for a full-size truck. I test drove all the full size SUV's and this is the one to get. Priced attractively for what you get and quality has come a long way from the mid-1990s. Perfect balance between truck toughness and car comfort.

The Chevy tahoe is a fairly good car. It has a wonderful drive and a great u- turn. The interior could be more luxuries, but the outside is pretty nice.

Defect in the steering column in the 2002 LT Autoride Tahoe. 33k miles ,3rd steering column replaced in 18 mths. Ist one replaced less than 3k miles. Sunroof replaced 2x because it comes off the track. Ceiling rattles and continually loosens up and has to be tightened. Window motors (front) burned out at 3800 miles. The running board came off at about 2k miles. The back door comes out of alignment. Electrical shortage. My neighbor has the same electrical shortage in his 2002 Suburban. I am getting into a foreign vehicle VERY SOON. This was my first and LAST american made vehicle.

I was skeptical about buying a car built in the US, but friends who own the Tahoe are more than satisfied with the reliability and performance. Truly amazed of the handling and styling for a large SUV.
