Far reach for interior lock

My truck is equipped with manual door locks, which is what I wanted. Also I have crank window handles.... The problem with the window handles is they are very stiff to roll up and down. But they still work. The interior door locks work okay also, but it's a stretch to reach across the front seat to unlock it for a passenger. Also, it does not have an outside key lock on the passenger side, which is a real problem in nasty weather. The passenger has to stand there and wait till the driver gets in and reaches across to unlock it. I think it may even be a safety hazard as far as getting in and out in a hurry.

I own a 2004 Chevy Colorado they are poorly engineered and use substandard parts quality. The Electrical system is a joke and I've replaced the electrical fan speed control relay and corresponding plug 3 times. Twice under factory warranty. Each time it’s close to starting a fire. 2 Year Second time @ 34,063 Miles Third time last weekend. $27 for the Resister, & $79 For the Power connection rip-off. The blower motor only lasted 2 Years, 30,897 miles. The engine thermostat never worked right form the factory. The CD player only lasted 20,000 miles. And won’t eject or play. If you plug in a trailer, with known good wiring, and blow fuses. the list goes on................

Could be a great truck if GM consider quality.

I bought this truck used in 2005 and wondered why it was in a Used car lot at less than 1 year old. All kinds of electrical problems such as door locks/power windows not working but then start working after 2 weeks to a month. Dealer couldn't figure out problem and replaced under warranty BCM that didn't seem to fix problem. Transmission is hit and miss and often searches for gear to shift with pedal all the way to floor. Replaced 2 parking brakes at less than 50K. Have had two instances where brakes failed to stop and only a pulating sensation could be felt on dry road. 4WD HI setting doesn't work even after dealer tried to fix it. Stalling problems including hwy speeds. Hood comes loose.

You get what you pay for.

Besides the archaic styling, I really love the truck (113k miles). For those that complain about the power/interior space; buy a full size. Plenty of pep for a compact truck. I've hauled a lot of weight in this girl and she doesn't mind it much. I bought the CO because the Dakota had a hungry V8, the Ranger is tiny and the Taco and Frontier were about 2k more, plain and simple. It drives like a small SUV; smooth and easy on the blacktop. With a decent pair of shoes it takes the KS mud and CO snow with ease. The mpgs are great for most pre gas hike vehicles, not just trucks, about 18 city at 6500 ft. If you need a layman's truck for the occasional moving day or trash haul, the Colorado is it

I bought my Chevy Colorado in 2004 with 3 miles on it and now 7 years later have 116XXX and climbing, I have driven my truck like I stole it since the day I bought it. I have added a few performance things to the engine but have never done any major overhauls yet. Main thing with these trucks is to do the maintenance as scheduled, and they do have problems with the blower motors but that is an easy fix.

Could have been a great truck by GM.

It is nice an comfortable to drive this truck however GM needs to fix problems with defects in the design of their '04 Model even though they are out of warranty. Occasionally I have had electrical problems such as the door locks no longer working (seems to happen more often when it is cold outside but happens even in summer months), Battery (went dead faster than other cars I have owned and it is hard to find battery replacement), left or right side headlights, turn signal/side marker lamp suddenly stop working, etc. I did take my truck to the dealer a couple of times for the door locks. Dome light comes on and stays on all night, had troubles with anti-theft system. Parking Brakes died.

Have always bought Gm product and the have always treated me well but this thing is a joke. The mileage is a joke at 15 mpg. I get 21 from a full size truck and Tahoe! As for the towing capacity it is the same as my wife's Escape. What a joke! The thing is falling apart. The roof leaks, the headliners and carpet are shot! Cheap plastic that breaks with little effort. The front turn signals keep getting corrosion in the plugs and have to be cleaned month after month. I do not abuse my vehicles in any way. This thing is junk!

My '04 Colorado Z71 crew cab has 376,000 as of yesterday and looks like it did when I got it except for the cracks in the windshield. The rear end wore out and had all the stuff inside it replaced at 360,000 for $1800.00. Engine does not use any oil I use Amsoil in the engine transmission and rear end. I am going to replace the tires soon this will be the 3rd set this set of tires has almost 160,000 miles on them. If you want to stop cupping on the inside of your front tires have them align the front tires straight up and down and keep air pressure about 40-42 pounds.

I wasn't a big fan of crew cab Colorado's (small bed), but having a baby forced me into one. However, I feel this is the best truck for me and have been won over! My Colorado has room for my family and just about anything else we need to haul. Right after purchasing we had some problems with the traction control. After 6 trips back to the dealer they finally found a wire that had the insulation rubbed thru which was causing the system to ground. This was very frustrating and worrisome at first but the truck has been fine since. The 220 hp 5 cyl and ZQ8 package gives this truck a very sporty feel and is fun to drive.

I purchased the Colorado to move the kids in and out of college apartments. Also to carry bikes and haul small fishing boat. I have the 2 wheel drive with limited slip rear axle. With snow tires on the rear its great in the snow. I just came back from picking up a 850lb trailer in Colorado. I got 26 mpg going out and 22.7 on the way home with the trailer. I drive the speed limit. This truck has been flawless over the last 5 years. Z85 suspension is bouncy if its empty. But with a small load (120lbs)in the rear it rides smooth. The value of this pickup is its reliability and low cost.

I bought my Colorado used with 29,000 miles on it, and the day I bought I started putting it to the test. I have been through some of the worst mudholes, the deepest snow, I drove right through a swamp once, and it goes right through it in 4wd. The only problem I ever had with it is the transmission mount sits really low and can get hung up on things. This is a great little truck for getting in and out the woods for hunting, or just playing around in the mud. There really isn't anything that I haven't put my Colorado through, and it still runs strong, and I haven't had to replace anything on it and it now has 110,000 miles in it.

I have the ZQ8 LS, with the optional 3.5L I5 cylinder. This is my first truck, by the way I am 18 years old. But before I purchased this vehicle, I did a lot of research and test drives. I love the great gas mileage, as well as looks and good performance. The truck handles well, and it is a plus for towing capacity as well. It is black, with a red bow tie, and that truck looks mean coming down the road. It has good interior volume, as well as OK styling. Although, a few things can be added in the cab to make it a bit more appealing. The fact that I chose the Colorado over many other vehicles in it's class is for the street looking body as well as rims. Well, black does add to its sexiness.

I bought this truck new in 2004. I have had no real issues with it. One of the seat knobs broke (my fault) and it was recalled a couple of times, but I have had no electrical problems or engine problems. Some of the people on here amaze me - I mean, what do they want? Not a single manufacturer makes a vehicle that doesn't break. People seem to think that Toyotas are better because it says Toyota on it. Well, Toyota didn't stand behind the engine in my Tundra when it went bad. This Colorado has been the best truck I've owned.

Had the truck for 4 years and never had any problems. Got good gas mileage and enough towing power to pull a fishing boat. Wrecked/totaled it this winter in icy weather, rolled once landing on its wheels - with the engine still running. Tough truck that was built well, definitely got my money's worth and am looking to buy another.

I bought new in 7-03, thought that since the S-10's this would be better. This is single-handedly the worst vehicle I ever owned out of 10+ GM products. The 5 cylinder had no power and even worse fuel economy. The worst is the front end, Isuzu product that is junk. Replace your front brake rotors and you'll know what I mean - the design is ridiculous. The GM book rate is 6+ hours to remove a rotor. Then the flex hose to the rear brakes broke down internally and the micro rubber particles jammed up the rear brakes and the ABS system. I traded it in before I paid the approx $1700 for the replacement. I called GM with this complaint, they never called back! Premium gas only or sensors lit daily

Bought this used with 49K miles 5 months ago, now has 55k miles. The guy that traded it in thought the truck had electrical issues because blower speeds 1-3 would cut out and the CD player wouldnt eject. I bought the truck with little fear being that Im a technician. Tracked the blower issue down to a loose connection at the connector on the blower resistor. The CD drive was jammed with crumbs/dust, and just needed to be cleaned and lubed. Fixed both at a cost of $0 (probably $500 otherwise) and the truck has been great since. No leaks anywhere and still feels solid. I average 21 in the city, and 25-26 on the highway with the 4 cylinder/M5 combo.

I own a 2004 Colorado extented cab ZQ8. I love my truck. The only problem I'm having is the AC works good on 4 but on 1,2,3 don't hold your breath. I have 62,000 miles and I still get around 24 - 27 mpg. This truck has the get up and go. I turn heads and when I'm on the freeway people move out of my way. I use it to haul my motorcyles and pick up materials for my weekend projects. It's comfy, the stick shift has great position and feel to it and it shifts smoothly! This little engine is great on gas and once you get moving it hums. Great stereo. Fun to drive!

I drive 48 miles to work one way and it's held up. I change the oil, tires and make sure not to buy cheap gas. I've even run E85 in it a couple of times when I've been in a pinch. We like the truck and the quality overall is very good to excellent. No service problems, a few things replaced (A/c switch and a recall on the stop lights) but overall very good. I get 17-18 MPG everday driving, which I thought would be better, but is livable. Good offroad traction for 2wd with locking differential.

I have owned this vehicle for right at a year now. I purchased it used with 43000 miles on it. I know I paid too much for it but I have no one to blame for that but myself. The vehicle has suprising pep and power for a 5 cyl engine. I'm not completely impressed with MPG as I get anywhere from 17-21 depending on the style of driving I'm doing. I bought the small truck in hopes of better. The truck will absolutely tow a lot more than GM rates it for. Just towed an 8000 lb tractor home after a breakdown. It's definitely worth a look. GM needs to get more advertising out on this vehicle instead of letting it die like I'm hearing they are doing.

No rattles in the interior. 2wd Z85 easy on tires, looks like I'll get another 20000 out of them. Handles great for a truck. (Rear ended twice but can't prove the lights were not working at time) I had the driver side door locks replaced twice! Drv side windows "sometimes" don't work. Now psngr side windows don't work. "sometimes" AC fan is noisy. (Very annoying!) Fuel rating is wrong. I only get about 17 mpg if I am lucky and have the wind blowing behind me. It already burned up the cat conv in only 40k miles!

Too many problems for under 70,000 miles. Cruise control had to be replaced, CD player ate a CD, had to be replaced. Recall on anti- locking brake light, manifold just crack, must be replaced, and AC is about to go out- just a matter of time. American car companies are forcing me to buy foreign. I have never bought a foreign vehicle before, but American made are not reliable.

I've had this truck 2.5 yrs. and have put roughly 135,000 miles on it and thinking about a new 2007 replacement. Needless to say, with all the miles I've put on my truck, with no repairs needed, with the exception of two minor warranty repairs, this truck has been virtually trouble free. There is nothing wrong with the interior. It is what it is somewhat plain but extremely tough sensible hard plastic save for the cloth seats and well laid out. The exterior styling still impresses me as the best looking mid size crew cab on the road.

the truck has been 100% reliable with 110,000 km on it. Average fuel economy has been 23.5 mpg. I did not care for the factory seats so I upgraded them to buckets with a console. I use the truck alot for towing snowmobiles on a trailer up mountain roads and for work. the truck has also performed well off road when required.

I bought my 2004 ZQ8 a couple months ago. I was rather iffy about it since it was only 2wd and winter coming. I like the fact that I'm one of few with the 3.5L I5. It's a quick little truck and the gas mileage ain't too bad either considering I drive 60 miles or so a day. If you want something to use as utility I wouldnt recommend this truck, but as for small jobs it's perfect. I haul my quads and what not no problem. Interior could use a little work. Exteriors not bad..flashy. Rides a little rough.

I bought this truck to replace a 2002 Toyota extended cab 4x4,v6. After almost 3 years of ownership that decision is haunting me. The Chevy does tow better and is more stable on the road, and I think it looks 100% better than the Tacoma, but that's where it ends. From the start the A/C wasn't cold. 2 trips to the dealer fixed the problem...leaking valve. Next it was the trailering wire harness, fried up. The dealer harvested a part out of a 2005 on the lot. Between those problems it ate the front tires up. Misaligned from the factory....not covered by warranty. All this with 23000 miles. At 42000 the entire throttle body and throttle position actuator were replaced. Boo,GM....BOO!!

My 2004 Colorado has had trans leak. Front axle seal and front differential seal leaks. Front end eats tires. GM re-aligned after several calls to GM customer service, now a bad vibration has developed with no fix by GM. Replaced heater blower fan twice. Replaced speaker, cup holder, seat adjuster broken. Interior very cheap. Been in the shop about 14 times for diagnostics and repairs. Have to fight GM for them to fix anything. Poor truck. Will buy Toyota the next time!

I purchased this pickup in 2004 basically due to the rising cost of gas. It has been a electronic nightmare. First the heater messed up, they changed it under warranty. Next the radio would not go off. They looked at it said found nothing. Next the bolts on the door fell off they been replaced twice more. Now the heater is making noises again. The bolt is off the door again, which causes a popping noise each time you open the door. And yesterday the driver's side window would not roll down. And of course it is no longer under warranty. And it has a recall because the brake lights fail to work. I've owed 4 Chevy trucks and the Colorado is not a lower price truck, but just a cheap made truck.

I was pretty pleased with my Colorado until recently. I purchased it new 2.5 years ago. Great ride. Great gas mileage. Good in the snow. The starter had to be replaced after 6 months. My check engine light recently came on. Took it to the dealership. They tell me a cylinder needs replaced. $3,000+. Whoa! Of course the warranty has expired too. This shouldn't happen. The truck isn't that old and I hear of others with the same problem.

Driver's side of cab has been filling with water ever since we got this pickup. Our dealership techs have been unable to fix this, despite repeated stays in their shop. It's been with them since before Thanksgiving this round (Jan.8,2007). For a brand new vehicle, this is unacceptable. We are looking into lemon law for resolution with GM.

This truck replaced a 2001 Dodge Dakota. It is equipped as a 4x4 extended cab with the I-4 engine, which is a horrible mismatch for a truck of this weight. The construction of the box is terrible, with noticeable gaps in the welds where the floor of the box joins the front wall. It came from the factory with the front end out of alignment. It has had non-stop power steering problems, The pump was replaced under warranty, after having not been properly filled at the factory. The replacement was also noisy. It is now down because of failure of the high- pressure hose. Several bowtie-fan friends have called it a lousy representation of a what a Chevy truck should be.

I bought my '04 Colorado Crewcab Z71 4WD used with 20,000 miles. I think it's the best US build compact crewcab truck. Overall I like the truck. GM did a good job with the design and it's a good driving truck. So for I've had to replace a headlight assembly, front axle seal and CV shaft, and the auto dimming/compass rear view mirror. All were warranty repairs but it seems odd given the low mileage. I really wanted a Tacoma. I guess should expect a few problems since I saved approx. $6000-$7000.

The Colorado has been a pleasure to own. Have had no mechanical problems, fuel economy has been respectable, and it is easy to handle in tight spaces. 220 horsepower from the 3.5 motor was adequate. After driving a full size truck for many years I was skeptical at first if I would like this truck. By now I have enough time in the saddle to say I haven't given up much at all. The engine is smooth and powerful enough for my needs and the extended cab is great for family trips and taking friends out. I get lot's of comments from people who like the trucks looks and it draws many inquiries as to my satisfaction with it. Needless to say, I give big smiles to a nicely packaged vehicle priced reasonably. If your looking to haul a 5000 pound trailer I'd have to point you in the direction of a full size as the I-5 doesn't have that much pulling power, but as a Lowes hauler it is more than enough

The 4wd works great and the ride is firm but not harsh. For my part I feel the engine is a little small, the truck is designed to compete in the midsize market--but the engine option 3.5 is a little small for my part, it doesn't have the towing ability of my 1996 S10 Blazer..

I don't know of another truck I would rather have at this time. Three adults in the back bench seat without being to crouded. Just like the commercial! Problem free going onto 14,000 miles The only thing I found is that it has problems with icy roads whith wind. 50mph off the road into a farm field with the rear in a drain ditch, no harm done! Any vehicle is going to have problems on ice, so I can't bring the truck down for that. Great truck at a good value, just take it slow on ice.

I wish I had got a full sized Silverado. I love the body style of the Colorado and the full size of the Silverado. If Chevy wants to make another smart decision they need to make the 2007 or 2008 Silverado with the same exterior design as the Colorado’s. My next vehicle I buy will be a Silverado. Considering that my previous car was a 1996 Saturn SL with 202k miles, this was a definite step up. This is a nice size beginner truck that I got at a wonderful price. It handles and rides nicely. However, I have had numerous problems that required 1 minor engine rebuild and two half engine rebuilds. Yikes! Got another problem fixed today. GM threw an additional 75K Major Guard at me, so I am happy. My friend's 2K5 Nissan Frontier Crew is an overall nicer vehicle - it has the track system in the truck bed, better interior lighting, sunroof availability and more power. Mpg on Colorado is nice, though. I like my truck a lot, but if I "knew then what I know now", I wouldn't have bought it.

I personally think my truck looks better than both of those as well. I traded in my 99 Ranger and the difference is night and day, power comfort and quite. It's an amazing truck and I was able to pull my boat out of the water no problem.

I love the Colarado. After shopping around quite a bit I decided on it because it was the perfect size for me. It is very reliable and fun to drive. I have only had one minor problem and that was with my stop light switch wearing out. That is probably from all the driving I do!!! I live in the country so I put a lot of miles on my truck and it still drives just like it did when I first got it. I think that the biggest thing that I do not like about it is the interior. I think that Chevrolet could have done a little bit better with that!!! Overall, it is a great truck and I will definitely buy another one when the time comes!!

While the truck does get decent mileage, it fails in comparison to my former 02 Frontier 2wd. This is mostly due to the larger tires installed on vehicle. I can say I do have fun though driving the truck despite the even lowering gas needle. And the exterior design is one that makes people turn to look again. And after seeing many different truck from Chevy over the years, I'm glad to see a interior dash change. It was sad to see a brand new 1500 have the same dash as the company truck built back in 96. The power band seems lacking at the low end. Though I feel this is due to the larger tires. The truck is perfect for my daily driving back and forth to work. Overall I am happy with it.

I have put about 10000 on this truck already and and have had only one major issue. The inner treads on my front tires are wearing very fast. I brought it back to the dealership who agreed that the truck was out of alignment and proceeded to align the truck. The problem did not stop.My tires are continuing to wear ABNORMALLY fast on the inner treads in the front of the vehicle. The dealer stated that because the truck was within "factory specs" for alignment that my problem was "normal wear and tear". Ive had a second and third opinion on this issue and have concluded that the local Chevy dealer is wrong. So I am now in the process of dealing with Chevy corporate about the problem.

My wife and I really enjoy our new Colorado as a second vehicle. We selected it because of its very comfortable ride, the ease of entering and exiting the vehicle, and its hauling capacity. It is giving a good 28 MPG on the road and 19 MPG in town. The five cylinder engine has terrific acceleration especially when needed to enter Atlanta's interstates. I recently read Consumer Report on the Colorado, and I think CR totally mis- represented the vehicle. We tried and my son bought a Toyota Tacoma. After test driving the Toyota and driving my son's Toyota, I still like the Colorado for its comfortable ride, acceleration, mileage, and ease of getting in and out.

Half the interior lights have quit working and two speakers have blown. I'm not hard on my vehicle. I do put a lot of miles on it, but it gets regular maintanence. I have had one problem after another with this truck. Started with feeling an air leak in the doors/windows on passenger side, then the heater fan would squeek, then the windows needed new regulators, then it wouldn't start and would buck when trying to turn over, then the a/c needed serviced when it had never been used before. I was told that a Service Bulletin was issued regarding these problems. Now its difficult to start at times and shakes when it wont turn over. A new truck with less than 13,000 miles on it shouldn't have this many problems, nor should it have been in the shop 6 times in 9 months. Shame on GM/Chevrolet. I am taking this one to arbitration. What a disappointment!

I've always been a GM person all the way, but after seven months of ownership with this truck, I'm going to reconsider that in the future. I am shocked at Chevrolet's cheap interior and poor build quality on this truck. First, there is no padding on the door or center console armrests, and this is very uncomfortable while driving. Next, I can't understand for the life of me why the did not install a keyhole on the passenger's side door, especially since there is no power locks or remote keyless entry. The truck rides and drives good, but when you hit a bump it really jars the interior of the truck. If I had it to do over, I would have definitely looked around at other trucks...

I have owned a 96 4.3 2wd s-10 and still own a 91 4wd s-10 4.3 Blazer. Compared to these trucks she is a vast improvement in all areas. Although the powerband is not what I am used to, she won me over with her smooth running and her Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde nature. When you get down on her she really hauls the mail. The five speed manual is geared well for this motor and shifts smooth. Handles great and the fuel economy is superb for a 4wd with 3.73 gears. She gets 22mpg or so consistently and has seen 23mpg once. The seats are very comfortable and the stereo sounds awesome. Anyone looking for a solid, efficient daily driver should give this truck a look, although I strongly suggest the manual trans.

I drove a Chevy Avalanche in the past and the transition to this truck was quite a surprise. I love its light weight feel, it's planted footing around corners and it's space inside. The interior is utilitarian yet sophisticated without getting too fancy. The I-5 engine sings like a miniature V10. Revving it at a stoplight makes everyone think that you have done modivications to your exhaust system. This truck is phenomenal in the snow and offroad alike. The huge 265's it comes with are incredible. Nothing better than an abundance of rubber in a Z71. I am very pleased with the truck and hope to get another colorado or possibly an H3 Hummer with the same faboulus I-5 engine. Test it.

It has a 5 cylinder engine. The best mileage to date is 16.1 on pure interstate driving at 65 miles per hour. The 19.5 gallon gas tank leaves me wondering Why? With only a 300 mile driving range I am constantly having to visit the Gas Station. The exterior is very eye catching but here begins the lack of quality. The hood has provisions for insulation but it is missing and not offered. The doors leak wind noise and sometimes even water. Hoses, cables and tubes routed ender the truck are installed with no attention to detail and bang against the under side. The inner fender wells lack fasteners and rattle. The endless use of bare plastic in the interior also adds to rattles.

I've had my Colorado just about a year and it has been EXCELLENT! The truck went back to the dealer for a loose electrical connector to the emissions system and hasnt been back other than oil changes and a tire rotation. This truck is still very impressive. There are no squeaks or rattles, with over 20K on the clock. The I5 performs nicely. It's not a tire burner, but there is plenty of oomph when needed It pulls my horse trailer with no problems and performs predictably with a full load in the bed. Handling is excellent, as it is better than a few cars I have owned. My Orange Sunburst Chevy still turns heads and looks great. I'd still pick it over a 2005 Toyota or Nissan.

A fun small truck, with plenty of get up and go with the 5 cyl engine. Tows a 2000 lb boat with ease! The drivers seat feels a little off center, especially with a little back support cranked in. Everything easily within drivers reach. A real nice thing to have would be radio controls on the steering wheel! Pushing 20 MPG on the highway at 60MPH, dropping steadily as speed increases. The dash panel cover just looks cheap.

Overall, a good truck if small/mid- size meets your needs. I downsized from a Siverado--after the honeymoon of a new truck wore off, I wished that I kept the Silverado. For me, the 3.5L is underpowered. It's great around town--not pulling a trailer or without a load. Otherwise, you've got the keep the RPMs pegged to retain any sense of power. A lot of plastic on this truck--it looks great on the showroom floor but quickly dulls. The truck drives good--especially off- road. However, the 4WD/Z71 suspension is a little rough and dicey at times in the urban jungle--probably due to high center of gravity and short wheel base. Great sport truck--poor work truck.

I took my truck from Seattle to So. Cali. to visit family. Yes I had to cross the mountains which according to the gotta have V6 / V8's fans said the Colorado was very poor on power. I was more than very pleased to find this little 5 cyl was truely much more powerful then I thought. The gas mileage was also very good on this long trip averaging for the total trip mid 22 MPG. Overall comfort was quite nice considering I was driving a 4WD truck. The interior is just about the same as the rest of the trucks out there, not very exciting. Then for a few dollars I can have the interior trim peices painted to brighten things up.

I have a lot of fun w/ my Colorado. I take offroading pretty much every weekend. I have had a couple of problems w/ it, like some electrical issues with the ignition and starter, but that is to be expected with a new style vehicle. I am confident that Chevy will work the bugs out of it, and it will be one of the best Mid-sized trucks on the market. The biggest issue that I have is the lack of accessories available for it. I want a lift-kit, so the thing can have a little more ground clearance. So if you chevy manufacturers are listening, get one on the market, quick. Again, overall, I love my truck.

I have moved 2 times already and have hooked up to a 16' flatbed car transport hauler and moved multiple loads of furniture. even though this load squatted the rear axle letting you know the trailer was on the back once I placed it in 3rd gear it pulled this load quite well considering the load being pulled and still I got a very respectable fuel economy of 14mpg. I have got as hiogh on one trip of 31mpg hwy but always turn in numbers of 25 to 26mpg. the worst was pulling the trailer with a load of 7000lbs on the trailer of 14mpg. I'm sold this is a great truck.

Others have knocked the interior. I have no complaints with the interior at all. It's comfortable, functional and quiet. A 100% improvement over the Jeep that I traded in. I can tow my boat and tow the Colorado behind my motor home. Chevy gets 220 HP out of a 5-cyl engine. My V- 10 Ford motor home gets 275 out of an engine twice this size. GM has a winner here. Go to your nearest Chevy dealer and buy one today. You won't be sorry.

I really like my truck. I have the Z85 with the I-5 engine(which wasn't an option when filling out this form). However, it's not as comfortable to drive on long trips as I expected. The lumbar support hits me about 4 inches too high. Also, if you plan on using a child's car seat in the back of the extended cab (using the jump seats) try your car seat before you buy!!! My daughter's car seat hangs off the jump seat by about 60%, which makes me relucatant to put her in the back. Unfortunately, I can't use the front seat because there is no airbag over- ride.

I love this truck! It isn't perfect, but I find myself wanting to drive it constantly which is contrary to my (normal) desire to conserve gas. Anyway, it is very quiet, smooth and a pleasure to drive. My first tank of gas netted 21 MPG and should go up after the break-in period. Even though it has good power, I find myself cruising at moderate speeds as the temptation to drive fast is not there. It's just plain fun to drive in a relaxed manner. I did kick it up once to see what the "bean counters/lawyers" limited the top speed. It "nosed over" at 98 MPH, but it got there damned quickly!

My truck actually has the inline 5 with Auto (loaded) but that selection was not available. I test drove it out of curiousity since I own a S10 and bought it out of impulse... no regrets. After owning 2 S10 trucks, one a 2002 Xtreme (loaded) and a 98 S10 LS (which I still own) the Colorado really impressed me in the ride and power (I even got a speeding ticket test driving...oops). I had actually test drove a crew cab ZQ8 but opted for a regular cab instead simply for personal preferance in looks. The sound system is a huge improvement from my 2002 S10. It can be left stock as mine will. I wish they would have had MP3 availability though (2005 supposedly will).

I have driven about 2000 miles since my purchase. Great looks, handles well. Mileage is about 20 MPG, 80%hwy/20%city combined. Added the GM foldable tonneau cover, along w/ the chrome tubes, bug deflector. Front seats could be more comfortable and plush for 28k price tag, use the Silverado Z71 seats. Cup holder should be moved forward, with the console it is not easy to access. Rear visibily is limited due to the high back rear seats. The bed is adequate despite being about 6 inches short.

I bought this truck and use it for work and towing my boat. I have a 21 foot C.C. weighs about 3500 Lbs loaded full. I use to tow it with a jeep cheerokee, and MAN what a difference....I hardly feel the boat behind this truck. I got the 4wd to have added security in getting the boat out of steep slick ramps. The dealer tried to tell me all I needed was the "tracction Control System", which this truck has as well....I tested it...low tide, steep slick ramp...I needed the 4wd to get the boat out. All in all..a great truck!

I just wish i bought the crew cab and not the ext cab , but i still love my truck .. my ext cab has the vortec 3500 220hp 15 engine in it . I cant fint it on the chart above.is this a 3.5l 5cyl 4a? thank you jim schrader

I bought this vehicle in April it is now June. It has been in the shop three times. (Once for Mold in the A/C, Water damage from a defective door, and had the transmission replace). I have had many Chevy Vehicles and I’m beyond the point of dissatisfied with the Colorado Truck. This truck is fun to drive when it is not in the shop for repairs. Good on gas for a Truck. All in all I would be weary of buying this truck until they have a chance to work out all of the bugs.

I really liked this vehicle at first, but now I'm starting to realize some limitations in comparison to what I'm used to. I'm a beach goer, and always drive on the beach. I got stuck immediately after going out, and had to be pulled back to pavement by a Dodge Ram 1500. The problem is clearance. This truck has less clearance the a Chevy Malibu (check chevy www, and you'll see). This is truely a disappointment for me. Other than that, I really liked the truck.

Have had our Colorado for 2 months. Very happy with it. Getting 21 mpg with a combo of highway/city driving. Good forward visibility. Heated leather seats the way to go. Clean and organized engine compartment. Engine runs smooth. Z71 Suspension handles well. Had it in the mountains for some light offroad (fire roads & river beds). 2WD with traction control performed well. Rear seats roomy & comfortable. Some problems with fit/finish...a reoccuring issue for GM. Had to have the driver's door realigned. Wish the bed was just a bit longer. The rear-seat cupholders seem cheap/poorly designed, with respect to its mounting.

Overall I'm very pleased with my new Colorado, its an improvement over my old S-10 . First of all there is more power! You can accelerate up hill with ease. It drives strong with a load as well. I like the interior for the most part, wish some of the sharp edge plastic wasn't there! I also like the higher safety ratings. Few other minor problems: Seat belt lock too easily. I can roll into a yield sign and try to lean over to see the road and I get held back. Maybe the dealer can fix that. I like the look in general especially the front end.

First to Clarify, I have a z85 ext cab automatic 4X4 with 3500 vortec. This truck is terriffic! It runs great:Power(not as torquey as the old 4.3 but power throughout the RPM range is much better) And it rides like a car. Most comfortable, best handling truck I have ever been in. Besides loaded Silverado. I took this truck for the 24hr test drive and liked it so much I bought the demo. The stereo with XM is great. People bust in the interior as being bland and cheap..Come on , its a truck and the controls and instrument layout is cool and functional. Tacoma same overall look to inside but much coller outside.

Very nice little truck to knock around town, but don't get it out on the highway over 60mph without ear plugs as it sounds like you were caught in a wind storm (outside standard cab noise) Dealer replaced windshield without much if any help. Local dealer admitted some have already traded in standard cab models because of the wind noise and said "I don't see how the engineers missed this" Brochure for LS model claims 6 radio speaker but I can find only 4.

Keep in mind that I am upgrading from a '89 Ford Ranger XLT 5 speed manual standard cab with 4 cyls. With that being said, I looked at the Nissan Titan, Toyota Tundra, GMC Canyon and the Chevy Colorado. Ruled out the Titan and Tundra for gas mileage and size. I was impressed when I drove the Canyon and went to the Chevy dealership to do the 24 hour test drive as the Colorado was available. I ended up purchasing the Colorado. Found one with the features and options I wanted. After driving this machine for a week-and-a-half I am very impressed. Good ride, smooth and easy to drive. I’m glad I chose this vehicle. I went from a f250 to the colorado. Power was a bit lower but it more than made up for it in performance and gas milage. Only problem I had was something loose above the adjoining doors on the drivers side. Dealership fixed it without a fuss. So far the truck has been awesome. The exterior is fantastic. The interior is great, just wish it had the sunglass holder thing on the inside roof. I'm 6 ft 3 and I fit in it just fine which is a big plus. Was concerned about the lower power (compared to the 250) but so far the truck has come through without a problem.

The Colorado gets much, much better mileage than the Dakota. Also, the Colorado handles better and accelerates superbly. My Colorado came with the I5, auto, buckets and the ext. cab. I spend countless hours in my truck. Contrary to the pro reviews, I find nothing wrong with the interior design/materials. Compared to Japanese branded trucks, the quality difference in materials was negligible. Every part on this truck is aligned as expected and perfectly matched and spaced. The ride is wonderful, the truck goes exactly where you point it, and doesn't wander over bumpy roads. Dodge, Toyota and Nissan trucks were nice, but not as good. GM got it right, this is an excellent truck.

It is a great step up from my 1991 S10, and the rear seats in the ext. cab seem much safer than the 1994-2003 Ext. Cab S10's. The ride and handling are great. I'am 6' 8" and I fit better in this truck then I did in my 2001 tahoe. I like it better because it's smaller, easy to mauneuver in traffic, and fun to drive. I traded in a 2001 Nissan crew cab and am more satisfied with the cab room and gas mileage, considering it has a more powerful engine, is bigger and is a 4x4. So far the quality is as good as most others models/mfr's in it's class. It is also quite capable off road of which it was twice in the first couple of weeks.

First off, this is NOT for the full sizer. GM's target market segment is the user who needs to occasionally carry loads from the local home improvement store. GM hit the mark. Good: Gas mileage Utility Cabin space BROAD powerband & SMOOTH delivery Accomplished ride Quiet cabin Driveability Aesthetic design The inline 5 doesn't have the low-end torque of a V8, but that's not what I needed. It has enough acceleration and also has sufficient highway passing power. I am impressed with the deliver of the I5's power. The power-band is very broad and smooth. It has a much more refined ride than expected in a compact truck. This truck really is practical.

I'm 6'0" and if I have my upper body comfortable at the wheel then my legs are all bunched up, and if my legs are at a good stretch my arms can't reach the wheel. It's very loud, but I expected that from a truck. The auto tranny is prone to downshift even on the most mild interstate inclines. However the suspension is very good the best I've been in for a truck.

I find the 5 cylinder to be a wonderfull engine, but they could have spent some engineering money on the exhaust note. The seats are great, the interior it very good. No real complaints so far, and my other cars are Porsches and an Audi. My 5 year old thinks it's cool, and that's what really matters.

This truck is marketed toward people who won't do a lot of towing and value ride/comfort, which is me. The crew cab has lots of interior room, even for 6 footers in the back seat. The 5 cylinder engine has plenty of power, better than the V6 it replaces in the S-10. Plus its better on gas.

I have found the truck to be just what I wanted. It has a smooth comfortable ride with excellent gas milage. It offers the comfort and gas milage of an automobile yet leaves me the option of using it as a truck. I don't have the need for a large truck but wanted something that would allow me the option of hauling a larger load than an auto and yet have something better than an SUV for gas milage. I also wanted a vehicle that rode smooth and handled well. This vehicle fit the bill. Its just a fun vehicle to drive.

HI, I have been driving trucks for a while now. I used to drive a standard isuzu with no confort options. I got my Colorado almost fully loaded (all except the leather and the Onstar). Now instead of dreading the drive to work I love it. This truck is comfrtable yet regged, sporty yet serious, and generally a damn good truck. and the 4x4 with the rear wheel deferential is excelent in snow, Ice and heavy off-roading a must have for anyone in CANADA. I did a lot of investigating before I bought this truck. and I tell you compared to this truck the Ranger, Dakota, or even the toyota Tundra seem like WWII technology.

This is a great truck. The I-5 has plenty of power and does good on gas. The truck looks very cool too. The interior is done alittle cheap in my opinion a little plasticy, but other than that its a great looking fun to drive truck.

I bought this truck instead of a Dakota which I'd test drove twice because it was a new design and I've always fancied Chevys. All I felt since my first trip on the interstate was regret for not buying the Dakota. My 2nd trip to the shop for "minor" problems concreted my remorse. A note to all other people considering this truck.. The Colorado was released to put life back into their compact truck line and to directly compete with the Dodge dakota. The are batting .500. It is better than the S- 10 but still no comparison to the Dakota..

I used to be an S-10 owners, but went Ford/Mazda for 10 years. lots of interior head and leg room. I can really notice the 220 ponies, but the torque is a little lower than my 4.0L Mazda. I won't be pushing the truck to its limits so this is entirely acceptable. four wheel drive engages very smooth and quietly, and the General tires on it perform excellent in the snow. The engine is virtually silent, and has plenty of power for my uses. An occasional load of dirt or lumber, or towing walleye boat. Overall this truck is a perfect fit for my needs with pleanty of power and more than adequate torque.
