I bought this truck used about 6 years ago. I've had just a few minor problems. The tensioner for the AC belt broke. (Repaired myself for about $75). The 6 disc cd changer quit, but it was 10 years old, and well used. Overall, this truck is still very mechically sound. Very comfortable ride quality. Still runs like new. What else can I say.....I love my Avalanche.

This is the first pickup, I have ever had. Great ideal with the Midgate, it was the deal maker. I have had about 20 different vehile, ranging from BMW to Range Rover. Loved my Range Rover, but was to small, so the Alavanche fit the bill. Have 77,600 miles on it an only routine maintanices. Put gas in it change the oil an go. Which, my Range Rover was that reliablied,

I kove this combination of the midgate, was looking at the Ford X150. After, my Account told me to look at the Avalanche, I know why he my Account he does his homework and look at the number. Don't thing the Ford X150 is a nice pickup. The midgate on the Alavanche is the deal maker. It my daily driver how. Had a Big Range Rover, great ride; but was a big family wagon, not a useful 3th vehicle for my family. Also, have a Mecerdes sl for nice sunny day and weekend drives. Range Rover was a nice vehicle with a great ride. However, the Alvanche is so many type's of vehicle in one package. Brought may 2 year old 73,000 miles on it. Getting ready to buy another one a 2007 or 2008 like the new body

This Chevy Avalanche is the best vehicle I've owned in more than 40 years of driving. It is reliable, comfortable and versatile. I've changed the oil regularly, put on one set of tires, one battery and a set of shocks - no other maintenance or repairs in more than five years of ownership. Truck is like a rolling fortress safe and reliable in all weather. Ride quality similar to our Jag XJ8 but with the capacity to haul the Jag on a trailer. Incredible vehicle.

I love my truck. I have owned 29 vehicles in my life, and this is clearly my favorite. I bought it with about 115K miles on it, and I will turn over 140K this week. The truck rides like an SUV, and I have hauled 1500 lbs of rocks and mulch. Take the back window out, open the sunroof and windows, and it is like driving around in an open air Jeep, but it is SO USEFUL. I take my family on vacation, pull trailers, and cruise drive the back roads. I think I will keep this truck longer than any vehicle I have ever owned... Maybe take it over 200K, I bought it expecting that I will put a transmission in it before 180K, we will see.

I traded my Harley in for a truck. Hey can't ride a bike in the snow. I love the way this truck rides. I used to have a Cadillac and this feels much like it. All the interior options really make this truck feel like a high end luxury vehicle. I find it has almost all the features that my wife's brand new 2010 mazda 3 has but three times the space and 4x4 too boot. That said this thing eats gas like a fat kid eats cake. And I don't get the plastic cladding on a 4x4. To me this is asking for trouble. However, That said I do love this truck and would recommend one to a friend. But one without cladding and maybe a newer one that gets better mpg.

My first impression was how dumb it was to merge an suv and truck. I test drove it and I fell in love. Like me, I don't work construction or in a farm and I don't tow heavy but have a good size family. This vehicle is intended for those city dwellers that like to camp, drive on vacation or have to take a trip to the dump. It has been so wonderful to be able to provide such a diversity when needed and GM had given me the tool. I replaced items that I feel I wanted to change to have peace of mind and not because the manual says so. It has not leaked, stopped cause any issues let alone a check engine light.

I bought my Avalanche in 2006 and have had it until present. I have put quite of bit of miles on it, and seems to be doing just fine. The transmission did go out at 116k miles because of the four wheel sticking in between 2wd an 4wd. All in all this is a really good driving truck, makes parking lots a breeze to pull into, and can handle when you press the gas pedal through the floor as well. You can't go wrong with it if your wanting a SUV and Truck together.

I bought my Av new in 2004. GM should have named it the Transformer. There isn't anything I can't do with this truck. I carry full sheets of plywood and sheetrock (and it stays dry in the rain). I've carried firewood, gravel and anything else a regular truck does. I've gone camping with four others in the passenger compartment, my four wheeler in the back, two canoes on top, towing four wheelers and gear on the trailer behind. I live in Maine and the Av keeps me cool when it's in the high nineties and toasty warm when it's forty something below. It stays on the road during a blizzard like a bengal tiger on it's next meal. I will own this Av forever. Really. I still own my '72 Dodge Demon.

Try and top it!

I purchased this Z71 4WD Avalanche new and have enjoyed excellent reliability. It has always run flawlessly. I usually trade every couple of years due to boredom or a more desirable rig, but I haven't been able to find anything that compares to the ride, performance, and awesome design. People are amazed at how much room it has with the bed fully extended. More than a long bed pickup! I highly recommend the Avalanche to anyone looking for a great all around truck.

I've owned this vehicle for just over three years. Had to replace front shocks, fuel pumps, brakes all around. Have the "clunking" from the steering shafts, trouble with rear tailgate latches, poor fuel economy. But I love this truck, might not buy another one, but I still really like it.

I purchased this as a pre-owned vehicle to supplement my prior truck on account of a growing family. It has been excellent! I am pleased that its value still exceeds what I paid for it. We recently purchased a travel trailer, and it tows with an ease that makes one feel a trailer is not present. The only repair I have had is the power window motor on the passenger door - a common problem with GM trucks.

We bought our truck new and have driven it for 5 yrs. My husband just had an accident, rolled the truck twice, and both driver and passenger survived (well) in what onlookers thought would be a fatality. The structure of the truck saved them. Very comfortable on long drives, love the interior, flexibility of car to truck. Great for farm, pulling trailer, 4x4, dogs, people, you name it - it does it. Added backup sensors - well worth the cost as it's hard to see with backing up. Would love to buy another one!

The transmission on this vehicle went after only 2 1/2 years, and at 42,000 miles. I don't tow with it, or use it for work. Most of the miles on it are highway, none off road or abusive. Chevy didn't want to know anything. They told me I should have purchased an extended warranty. This in my opinion, is telling me that they know the Chevy Avalanche is substandard and I will have problems with it. I don't know of any car company that backs their product less then Chevrolet. I'm very disappointed with Chevy.

We have only had this truck for a while. Made a mistake once we traded for a Jeep. As soon as it was possible we traded back! Now we are happy again. We are a family of 4 and we also have friends that we haul around. Plus I work in the oil patch so I put this truck through the wringer. When gone it sits for days on end in all weather. Plus the trip there and back on of road and no roads. At home it gets put through the family and helping others. Love this truck, it works hard and looks good doing it.

I bought mine used, could'nt afford a new one. This is the best truck/car/ SUV or whatever on the market. It's loaded, everything you could want from Detroit. 15mpg town, 20-22 mpg highway. Plenty of power to tow and lots of room. Plus it has a built in ice chest.

This truck is absolutely great. The ride is surprisingly comfortable, and it is plenty of room for my entire family. I have had two problems that the dealership can not fix, but are not a major problem because I am the only one who drives. The memory seats do not retain their settings, and the CD repeat feature does not work as expected. It seems to play all the tracks up until you hit repeat. The first problem is only a nuisance if my wife happens to hop in to take it for a spin since we are on opposite ends of the height scale.

I bought my Z66 new, it is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have over 124,00 miles on it, have done no repairs at all, just maintenance. I still have the original brakes and they were checked when I put new tires on a couple of months ago and they still have 65% of the pads left. I have room for 5 people and can carry all their luggage and then some. I didn't buy it for the gas mileage, but I just drove on vacation and got around 19 mpg, and that was both highway and riding around mileage. I cant complain.

Leased this truck for work - I wasn't sure if I'd want to keep it long term. I drove it and bought it! I've stayed on the road during horrendous winter weather using only the stock tires. Hauled drywall, flooring, sod, dirt, rock, garbage - you name it - and it comes clean and looks great for the daily commute. With gas prices rising I've been thinking I should look at something cheaper to run but I don't want to - this is the best vehicle I've owned/driven in 30 years.

As much as I love a lot of stuff about this car. Check out all the problems they have had with the transmission. Mine went after 65,000 miles. I have the tow package but I never towed anything. The warranty is crap. GM refused to give financial assistance because I didn't change the transmission fluid every 30-35,000 miles. How many of you do? I have always owned GM cars but this is my last. Quality has dropped like a rock. Funny they now have 100,000 mile warranty but I still will not by GM and I find more and more people saying the same thing.

I purchased new almost 4 years ago. After 58,000 miles, I have not had one major repair. Changed oil and it goes. In nearly perfect condition, with original tires and brakes. Never a problem. The black plastic began to fade and the dealer refurbished it, under warranty without charge with an improved treatment. Every year me and 3 friends take it on our golf trip- 4 men, 4 sets of clubs and our luggage- and we usually take the clubs of the rest that fly down. Have hauled 10 foot sheets of drywall, skids of pavers and also trailered a huge camper approx 10,000 pounds. Reliable!

Coming from owning a Wrangler, I wanted something fun, more comfortable, but still able to be modified to be unique. Other than those that leave theirs stock, the same year/color/body Avalanche can look completely different, which is fun. I didn't buy it because I thought I was going to get good gas mileage, so no complaints there, and the savings in insurance from all the airbags and such has offset that quite a bit. This is my 15th car in the 18 years that I have been driving, and other than my 1st car (69 Ford Mustang Fastback), it has been my favorite. I will drive it till the wheels fall off...then buy another one.

What happened to reliability and pride in workmanship. I paid cash for a truck loaded with problems. Dont buy this truck! After 3K miles the first truck was replaced because the steering problems could not be corrected. All the problem above are on the second truck. I've had it with this truck.

I love driving my truck, just don't like the gas mileage. The performance is more than I expected and the ride with the Z-66 suspension package is comparable to a top of the line luxury sedan. Since I have the 2 wheel drive version, during the winter I have found that adding three 70 lbs. bags of sand over the rear axle and a good set of all-terrain tires will keep this truck on the road even in heavy snow as long you don't try anything stupid.

We are having to replace the brakes every 20,000 miles. Dealer says that is normal. GM says they stand behind dealer. Would be unsafe to stand in front because brakes don't work. At same visit, tech says brakes shot, service manager says brakes ok. Three months later, brakes and rotor have to be replaced. GM says believe dealer? Two different stories, how can they believe both? I will never buy another GM product no matter how much I like the design. Nice to look at, practical design does not get me where I am going. If GM blindly accepts whatever the dealer says, I do not trust them and will no longer deal with them. No tears from me in they go bankrupt, maybe they deserve it.

I purchased my '04 used with 14,000 miles on it. I have been very pleased so far. My Avalanche does not have the body hardware and is very sharp looking. I am getting about 15 mpg during mostly country driving as high as 19 mpg on highway trips. The interior is extremely comfortable especially on long trips. The ride is solid and quiet. I enjoy the sunroof and Bose stereo. I wish I had leather, but the black sport cloth seats are very nice. The bed cover was somewhat faded when I purchased the vehicle, but after using a product called "Back to Black" it looks like new. This is the perfect truck for a family man. Tons of rear seat space even for adults and I love the midgate versatity.

This has to be the best personal use truck on the market. 16 mpg city, 22 mpg on highway, tows my 7000 pound boat without trouble, rides great, and comes standard with removable bed cover, built in locking storage (which work great as an ice chest), bed mat, etc. No mechanical issues, warranty expired without ever needing service.

The versatility of the truck is unmatched. I have been able to use two tiered hauling, filling the area under cargo panels and then stacking an equal amount of weight and stuff on top. I can haul 2 yards of mulch in the back, hose it off and go out to a nice dinner that night.

I have put over 65,000 miles on my Avalanche in two and a half years. The only problem was that the tailgate latch broke. On the highway I get between 18 and 21 MPG even on the 75 MPH interstates. I have hauled 12 ft. 2x12's inside with the tailgate closed. The bed cover is secure yet easy to remove. In short it is a GREAT vehcle with multi-talents.

I must say I love this truck. It rides like a big American sedan not a truck. But it is all truck and will carry anything. Only problem I had was the front driverÂ’s window got stuck down from ice build up. GM replaced window regulator. Power steering box was replaced, not a common problem.

I've owned my Burnt Orange (okay Sunset Metalic) Z66 for a little over 1 1/2 years now and have about 15,000 miles on it. It rides and handles just fine. And for a big truck the mileage is good. 14-15 mpg city and 17- 18 mgg highway. The popping noise in the front end is a bit disconcerting. But will take it in to my dealer for a fix.

Nice truck. I love the capability of offroading. I went through 24" of snow and didnÂ’t get stuck. But the EPA estimated fuel mileage not even close truck gets about 8mpg city 12-15mpg EPA estimates are crap and it seems the more gas prices go up the worse the fuel mileage gets, and itÂ’s hard on the wallet. Chevy makes great truck but would get better mileage if they put manual available in the Avalanche and offered a diesel, or just added a 5th gear to the automatic.

I love the looks of the truck, but unfortunately it has started to fall apart. So far the front right axle seal had to be replaced, the battery started leaking battery acid all over the windshield washing resevoir; causing it to leak the entirety of its fluid, there's a clunking noise in the front end, and there's also something wrong with the steering column. It'll be a miracle if I ever do business with GM ever again. The policies that their dealerships practice are not consumer friendly and at most have left me aggravated.

Many have suggested replacing the removable glass with a rear power window that retracts into the midgate. I like the existing design. By lowering the midgate, while leaving the glass and tonneau in place, I get extra load space AND protection from the elements. I love the adjustablity of the driver's seat, especially the lumbar support. It's the most comfortable seat I own. I've owned trucks with both the 5.7 and 5.3L engines. GM claims the 5.3 has more power and better economy. That has not been my experience. The 5.7 always felt like it had more grunt and got better mileage. This truck needs both. I average 14-15 mpg. On the whole, though, a great truck.

I love my new avalanche. I upgraded from a 2WD Sierra w/bare essentials to the Z-71 with every option except the DVD player($1200 not worth it). What a difference. This truck is suprisingly nimble, and the turning radius is less than that of extended cab trucks(ie-easier for my wife to park). Towing capacity is solid. We towed our Grand Prix on a car trailer(total lbs= 6900) from FLA to WA state, only stopping for 9 hours and driving for 66. There were times I forgot I was even towing. What a beast! The midgate is awesome. I've halled everything from drywall(full sheets) with the tailgate closed to 3 backhoe scoops of bark.

It is obvious that I got a lemon compared to the positive remarks I read about the truck. I had nothing but TROUBLE. It was first in shop over a month for AC replacement. Then Tires, Tires AGAIN. They never got the tires/wheels balanced correctly. They finally gave me a new set and I still had to take the truck back several times to try to keep the balance right! Then a shortage in the Radio. Problems with the CD player. Brakes were terrible. I can't leave out the fact that when I drove over 70MPH the speedomoter whould flip over to 120MPH!, never corrected. This was the worst vehicle I have owned and will NEVER buy a GM product again!

I never thought I'd like the smaller bed but not once has it ever been an issue. I love the locking rear tailgate and hard cover. I go camping in the truck and simply lay down the back seat and put my pillow behind the front seats and feet out in the bed. It's secure and comfortable. I recommend the Avalanche to anyone looking for something different without giving up their truck. Believe it or not the locking boxes on the side are pretty cool too. I go boating and I also trailer motorcycles to the trails and it's a good place to store my straps and hitch. The lock too so my stuff is safe. Plenty of room for the family and plenty of power to pull my 4,500 pound boat through the hills.

This vehicle is a joy to drive. Backing up, especially at night, is a little bit difficult due to restricted visibility. The rear window is vertically oriented, so lights from the instrument panel tend to glare off of it further reducing visibility. I have found that I must depend heavily on the side mirrors. I still would not give up this vehicle for the world, it is an absolute pleasure to own and drive.

I just recently purchased a Chevy Avalanche. I have wanted one since I laid eyes on one for the first time. I finally was able t obuy one, so of course I got the exact one that I wanted....a Dark Blue Metallic, loaded with everything but a DVD System. I get lots of looks with it, and everyone that gets in it loves it. I have shown people the Avalanche, and most have never actually been inside one, or don't know what it does, with the drop down "midgate" which turns it into a pickup. I am a SCUBA Diver, so the Avalanche is the perfect vehicle for me, with the secured box to keep all my dive gear locked up and secure. I love the way the interior is laid out also. I can't say enough about it!

I have owned 8 different vehicles (Passat, Jetta, Corolla, Ranger, Grand Cherokee, 633CSI, and a Broncho) in the last 14 years, but this is my first GM product and my favorite out of the bunch. GM succeeded in making a believer out of me. Comfortable ride, easy to use gauages, and commanding view of the road as well as a very capable off the showroom floor 4x4 system. I have recommend at least test driving one if you are in the market for a new truck.

I've owned a 2003 Avalance and presently own a 2004 Avalanche. I've been very impressed with quality of ride and reliability (I had the 03 in the shop one time for a click in the driver's door) and have yet to have the 04 in the shop. Versitility is this vehicle's greatest asset. It's like having a family vehicle that can be quickly converted into a pickup truck. Fuel mileage is well above average for an engine and truck of this size (15 city and 19.3 highway). The 130 inch wheelbase makes it practical for city driving and parking.

A superb effort on the part of GM to provide an excellent SUV/truck hybrid. Vehicle was in shop three times due to computer issues but afterwards has been fine since then. A lot of cabin space makes sure you are not on top of each other. Back seat passengers enjoy great legroom and comfortable seats. Used mid-gate fold down to haul a Christmas tree last year. Lots of small storage portions on the back of the pick-up bed surround. Great sunroof lets the outside in. OnStar is a blessing should you run into any crisis no matter how mild. There is something to be said about having someone on standby to help you if you get into an accident. XM Radio is beauitful. Exterior still turns heads.

Utility of a truck & seating of a SUV. Best thing they ever did was offer this truck without the body hardware. I wouldn't even consider this truck until they offered a "naked" version, it looks great. Overall the truck has a soft ride that could be more responsive, but it is better than the typical leaf spring rear end of a pickup. The interior is very roomy and comfortable, but as expected, the cabin has average materials that is typical of a GM product. I would have happily paid $500 more for this vehicle if they would have come up with better interior components (knobs, switches , door panels, etc). Overall I felt this was a good value for the money

This is my first truck and I just love it! It is so comfortable and I love never having to think twice about buying large items. When we have a group, no one ever has a problem climbing in back, it is just as comfortable as the front seat. Go with the hard cover, it is so easy to use and you can take off one section at a time. I bought mine because of my sister in-law who loves hers. She has a canvas cover which isn't as easy to work with. I definitely recommend running boards for short people, it is quite a climb and a problem with short skirts. Mileage isn't great (but good for big truck) and the huge tank can cause a shock when filling.

I like this truck. It fits me well. I'm 6'4" and I have more than enough room. Not the fastest thing around or the greatest at slowing down. The Avalanche hauls enough for a little trip to the home supply store. Good turning radius for such a big truck. Nice and quiet going down the road. Drives straight with no drift on the highway. It does seem to be affected by high side winds. I haven't driven a high profile vehicle in awhile so maybe it's just me.

This is my second Chev Avalance! What an excellent vehicle that is fun to drive and functional too! Every week I drive over mountain passes, rain, snow sleat, hail or sun.... the Avalanche gets it done. I also drive 30 to 50,000 miles a year and must add that it a very comfortable vehicle to drive too!

Our Avalanche exceeded most of our expectations. It is smooth, comfortable and powerful. It is both pleasant to drive and pleasant as a front or back seat passenger - in fact it has become our trip car of choice. I never expected to be so happy with the purchase of a "truck", however I have not looked back since or regretted my choice. Outstanding vehicle.

The Chevy Avalanche is a great vehicle. I traded my Silverado Ext Cab and I haven't looked back on that decision. The ride is solid ...firm ...and comfortable. I have a deck boat and a pontoon boat; towing is now effortless. I wish I had a nickle for each compliment about the looks of my Avalanche....I would be well on my way to my first payment. :-) This is the best vehicle I have owned....!!!!!

Second one we've owned. First was an "02 model. Luv the ride/handling & passenger comfort. Very versatile as a road car or a towing/hauling truck. Plenty of power. Sun roof & satelite sound option a must plus powered & heated leather seats. Fuel economy is what you would expect with a 5700 pound truck 14/18.5 mpg.

Very smooth ride for a truck. The turning radius is surprisingly small for such a large truck. I haven't found any structural defects, although there are some cheesy plastic parts used for the interior. It's not the most economical, but you should, know what to expect before you buy it. Chevy has a definite winner with this truck.

Judging from everyone else's reviews, I got a lemon. The engine and exterior build are fine, but the interior is shoddy at best. Within 24 hours of leaving the dealership, trim pieces had begun to fall off! Now, 3 months later, I am still headed back from time to time to have the dealer replace trim clips. I have also resorted to using pieces of windshield wiper blades to wedge in the dash to stop squeasks and rattles. My 6 year-old Tahoe didn't have this much interior noise! I can't believe I'm paying $500/month for this. For this price, I could've had a nice, well built German car...

As a female business owner, I found my personal car being messed up with work items. I like all the "bells & whistles" of a luxery car. Avalanche was the only logicial choice for me. Beautiful styling. It handles great & the convience of the covered bed is fantastic. I'm really surprised how much I have used the bed and how easy it is to convert the back seat area to enlarge the bed size. Gas consumption is too high. I average approx. 13 mpg city. I'm a short female & access is difficult. There is a running board, but needs a small step that pops out upon opening the front doors, access would be much easier for short or disabled people.

I am 71 years and have driven Fords most of my life, The last Ford I had was a 2001 4X4 super crew at the time I purchased the first avalanche, six months later I traded for the Z71

I've owned a Jeep Cherokee, Isuzu Trooper, and Toyota 4Runner and the Avalanche is by far the roomiest SUV I've owned. It's also the most powerful. While the model I bought doesn't have all the amenities of past vehicles, it does have everything I want. It drives smoothly and quietly. The Bose stereo with XM it decent and I'm still experimenting with the Midgate conversion options. The only downside - filling up with gas...

There is no truck better than the Avalanche. Nothing even comes close to the Ride, Quality, and Value of the Chevrolet Avalanche Z71. This truck rides like a luxury car, has a better turning ratio than smaller trucks I have owned, and has the power to pull whatever you want. It doesn't even know my 20 foot boat is back there. Then you have the well thought out interior and all the wonderful options. I have looked around and there is no other truck/suv that can compare. Some have size. Some have power. Some have the options. None of them have the whole package like the Chevrolet Avalanche Z71 does!

Strong engine that gets thirsty with the AC on... Great for those who like Suburban type vechicle and needs the occasional pick up truck features... Body hardware useful in parking lots, plastic does well vs doors and carts slamming into it. All windows down with midgate up gives an airy feel without getting blown away on highway.

this vehicle leaks loads of dust into the cab and bed, the torque is too low for large loads, the storage boxes on the outside of the bed are useless(leak dust and water), back seat room is very limited for an adult on an extended road trip, dvd player doesn't rotate to side views(you have to sit in the middle of the rear seat), rear radio controls are confusing to use, exterior plastic trim is poorly attached to the body and makes a lot of noise at road speed because it buffets in the wind, seats are hard and impossible to adjust to a comfortable position, you cannot load a 4-wheeler in the bed.

I have been extremely pleased with the power (enough to pull our camper and equipment with power to spare). I had many options to buy a truck but loved the overall style of the Avalanche. The ride is very smooth even with the z71 package. I really haven't had to use the rear window bit yet but it looks simple enough. This is a big truck that takes some use to backing up etc. There are tons of options available on this truck and mine has all of them which really make this a $40,000 vehicle. I already have 7,000 miles and no major issues EXCEPT the a/c expansion value which is located on or very near the fire wall makes a lourd sound that is annoying. This shouldn't be in a $40,000 vehicle. Overall, very pleased with the vehicle.

As a long time P/U owner, this adds luxury while keeping some P/U utility. The leather, sound, programables, etc. all make the Av. comfortable and fun to operate.

Go Buy it.

I have over 40,000 miles on my 4WD Avalanch and never had problem. They did this model right. I change the oil and filter every 3000 miles and rotate the tires every 14000, Still have orginal tires in good shape. I get 17.5 miles per gal on the highway, which is not bad for the size of the truck. The ride is great and it is fun to drive. I also love the conversion to carry extra long lumber. I would by another one if I could afford it.

4000 miles driven so no long term reliability comments. Impresive ride considering the size. Some may complain of numb steering but I find it just fine. I suggest the 4.10 rear ratio for more spirited local driving.

I love the interior. It is comfortable and drives almost as smooth as a car. I do have the Bose sound system and satilite radio. It is a great system. Overall this is a great vehicle.

Stylish, comfortable and fun to drive. This truck is fully equipped with all the bells and whistles including on star and XM radio. Comfort is high on my priority list. The interior space is very comfortable and roomy, including the seats and with the Driver Convience package, every thing is easy to reach. The 5.3 leaves a little to be desired on the getaway and the breaks are a little to firm to the touch and stopping the truck takes a little getting used to. Over all, it is the best truck of its class that I have ever owned, and I have driven pickups for more than 45 years.

I bought my first one in June of 2002, I lived it so much that I traded it for a 2004 which I ordered from the manufacturer. There were some options in 2002 that I wanted that were not offered (ie: dual zone heating 6cd in dash changer and steering wheel controls) These are now being offered and have been since 2003 this fact and the great new color sport met. red mask my new Avalanche the best vehicle I have ever owned.

A few problems to look out for: The plastic side pannels rub on the front fenders causing rust spots. Just recently hit 30,000 mi. and now getting noise from the lifters and also squeeking from the belt. Oil was always changed on time. Very poor rear visability. Lots of noise and vibration with sun roof open. Poor quality stereo and speakers. Over all a nice truck with great features and pleanty of room for the passengers. Wish they would have put in a power rear window. Pain in the butt to have to lower rear seats and remove rear window. Many new trucks offer powered rear window.

Waited for my 2500 Avalanche, one of the first to be delivered. Ordered on 9/9/2001. Received 11/2001. I have a 30 foot boat which weighs about 12500 lbs. This truck pulls better than the Ford diesel 3500. Gas mileage is ok. 10 mpg city and 15 on highway. Very few problems with the vehicle. Happy I bought it when I did. P.S. So far I have made $17.00 on the "CHANGE FOR A BUCK".

The best vehicle I have owned thus far. The versibility is wonderful. It is a car and truck mixed into one vehicle. I can take my grandkids for a ride and haul pretty much what I want as well. The handling of the truck is great--in rain or snow I have the capability of maneuvering the vehicle to my satisfaction. Gas mileage is okay, but of course we all want better efficiency. We have to sacrifice something for the luxury we want. The quietness of the vehicle is another plus.

Very happpy with my new Avalanche. I don't offroad, so the 2WD Z66 was plenty for me and it is very smooth. I shopped all day for a Truck, Morning for a F-150, Night for the Chevy. I REALLY tried to give the F-150 a good look. It just didn't grab me. I think the Avalanche's back end is what the F-150 was TRYING to go for. I had an 2000 Escalade 2 cars ago and this rides better than the Escalade.

My Z71 is awesome. Great power overall, very good for off-road and easy to drive on long trips. The sunroof provides another experience seldom found on trucks. The only concern I have is gas mileage, so far 15.8 mpg -not bad as some people has told me, but heavy on my pocket everytime I filled the tank. The cover cargo and non-slip mat is a plus-plus. It feels safe to go to the store, and keep shopping without worries. Great truck overall.

However the book says I was to receive headphones for rear and am having a problen with dealer, they say does not come with mine. Why is it written in booklet if not true. I do have the bucket seats. When I first saw it I thought it was the ugliest car I'd ever seen. After driving it I decided it was so ugly it was cute! It rides like a luxury car, has plenty of interior room, and can haul 2 motorcycles and 6 adults comfortably. This is the best vehicle I've evr owned. My sister and my father have both bought their own, and couldn't be happier. Thanks for a awesome car.

Purchased the Avalanche z71 on May'03. Love every minute of owning this truck. I love the design (even though it may be controversial) and the versatility. Fuel mileage is on par with other trucks of its class, so it does get good mileage compare to other full size trucks. As a truck, the ride is exceptionally comfortable, handling is good for a vehicle this size, and interior features are quite nice. As an SUV, however, the interior is quite spartan compared to other SUV's. But then again, this is not a SUV, nor is it really a truck. That is the beauty of the Avalanche!

So far the vehicle has operated flawlessly. The ride is smooth. The handling is great, and the power is awesome. The fuel economy is not wonderful, but the smooth ride was a pleasant surprise.

The Avalanche is the best truck that i have ever owned. This truck can haul butt down the road and the sound of the engine roaring is one of the best sounding chevrolet egines i've ever heard. the ride is great. you never get boreed of the XM radio. this truck does 80 mph at only 2000 rpm's. my suburban did those rpm's at 50.

Quiet, responsive, safe. Good riding in comfort. We avoided a headon collision involving a careless construction worker who was leaving work early. He thought all lanes were one way travel. He was wrong, heading straight into our Avalanche. Our snap extremely quick and harsh turn resulted in the Avalance and workers car stopped, side by side, almost touching. (No sign of the Avalanche tipping over.) RESPONSIVE AVALANCHE. SAFE AVALANCHE.

This is by far one of the versital trucks ever built. I'm somewhat of a do-it-yourselfer and have had no problems transporting 4x8 sheets of drywall, all without it being exposed to the rain. Fun to drive truck gives you both a pickup truck and sportutility all in one.

It has as smooth and quiet ride as any vehicle I have owned. This is the first 4WD I have owned, yet the ride is unbelievable.

We have just bought a light blue Avalance. It is an excellent for both an outdoor lifestyle as well as for someone who enjoys quality and comfort. The dealers gave us a 24 hour test drive and then a greal deal. They have a $5K cash back offer and we bought it new for under $27,000. This is a car that we plan to have for many years to come.

Shouldn't have sold it.

This doesn't. one thing the vechicle comes with a different size spare tireand its not the same make of tire. it had 190000 miles on it/ the dealership need to improve their customer relations as well in the service dept. not ver swift sorry courtesy but you flunked the satisfaction test.

I almost bought a Dodge RAM with a Hemi.........I drove them both and by far the Avalanche is superior.........There is no comparison of the ride offered by both vehicles.....The Avalanche BY FAR beats its competition in the smoothness of the ride..........Almost has the same big car ride of the Mercury Grand Marquis.......The engine has great accelleration and performance........Mine is without the body hardware.......one of the best improvements to the looks of the Avalanche that Chevrolet has made!! I just LOVE it!!

this truck has won MVP during our recent move. the versatility is great. just like the review says, amenities and feel of a suburban with the utility of the silverado. i can haul family around or lumber. the amenities are great, comes with dual- zone climate control, GREAT bose stereo with in-dash 6 disc changer. (stereo includes subwoofer). i don't know what people are talking about "cheap interior feel"... it feels luxurious to me. a hefty curb weight makes for sluggish performance though, and gas mileage is abysmal. the onboard computer is more amazing than in my previous BMW.

The gas mileage is bad - about 7 mpg when I'm hauling hills & long distances, but it's effortless & the tank is big. The cab is comfortable, stereo is great, lots of leg room, pretty good visability once you get used to the small back window. Small woman/big truck! Love it!

I bought the truck in July, i mostly got it for the 4 door part of it, its a crew cab with out the long bed, so turning is easier, the ride is good and the looks are excellent,

This is the second truck I have owned new and it is more than any other truck on the market. They are not kidding when they say it isn't an SUV but a UUV. It has the ability to do what ever I need it to from hauling my camper or 4 wheeler to hauling an entertainment in a monsoon and keep it dry all the way to the door. As far as summer fun it is great drop out the back window roll down the windows and run the dunes and hills. BEST TRUCK EVER.

Fascinating ride everytime, not because of the smooth suspension, or the car- like maneurability, but the envious stares of those I passed by. I got muscle all through me, even though mine is colored yellow! Go Avalanche! Wipe 'em up!

This is a great vehicle. I can use it to go out to go out in the evening to nice places OR to haul pine straw from my local Home Depot.

Smooth comfortable ride, stylish interior and exterior, powerful V8. I couldn't ask for more. I used to drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but was frustrated whenever I wanted to haul something tall, long, or wide. No longer a problem.

The Avalanche is awesome!

Totally awesome truck. I have the fexibilty of a 4-door and a truck. Plus it looks good. I haven't been satified with any vehicle since my 1991 Z-24. I've had a Blazer, a Malibu, a S-10, & a ford car. The Avalanche is big, I feel safer when I am driving this truck. Its easier for my 2 kids (7 & 8 years old) to get in & out. Suprisingly the gas mileage isn't that bad. I comute over 500 miles a week and average 17 miles per gal. The preformance is OUTSTANDING. The looks AWESOME. If something happened to my truck I would replace it with another one.

We absolutely love our Avalanche. The ride is so smooth and it has a roomy feeling. It takes bumps so well. We test drove an F150 4dr Super Crew and the seats weren't as comfortable and the feel of the overall truck was not as solid nor luxurious.

This truck is awesome! It can pull anything I need to and yet it rides so smooth. It has so many extras that I'm still trying to realize the full extent of them. I feel safe and secure in the truck and for good reason. The General has put alot of thought and effort into the safety of this vehicle. The kids love this truck and wanted it more than I did!

This is a true SUV. We use it as our family hauler. Back seat plenty big for kids. Use it as a pickup for bringing anything home fromthe local home depot We just got back from a vacation where we loaded the back end with anything that would fit and we towed a 22 foot boat and truck worked great. Great truck!
