I got my tundra used for a pricey $9000 from a toyota dealer. It had 230000 miles on it and drove like new. Never had the suspension replaced and it still settles instantly after bumps. The rear suspension was a bit weak for loads so I bought larger bottom out guards and I'm they keep my ride level while towing and with full loads. Tows my travel 23 ft travel trailer and it could have more power but I can't ask much of its 7000 load max. I do all my matinance on the truck myself and it is very easy to work on. Lots of space and so far I've only had to do matinance of filters and fluids. Except for the center drive shaft bearing which its rubber mounts were ripped and sagging. It was easly fixed by replacing with a used drive shaft from a parts yard for understanding $100, of course I did it myself and didn't have to pay for shop time. It's been to burning man once and was used as a work truck there, and cleaned up nicely. I have a performance computer, a tow computer and a dash cam. I get great mpg even while towing for a v8. The tailgate latch just broke on my because so much dust got in the mechanismshop it froze and instead of lubing ithe I just went hard and broke the plastic handle right off! Of course now it works great since I lubed it but that's a bumer, the truck was immaculate before that. The limited interior is great and the speaker are great sounding. I have to use a cassette auxiliary adapter so it messes with my quality a bit but it's all good. Drives like new, looks cute and sexy while still keeping a sence of beastly truck. I love dews truck and intend to reach 300000 with no problems. Daily driver as of now but soon I will have a little car for small things.

An extremely good value full size pick-up that does everything I need. I've used it for construction and it can carry anything. The engine is a solid performer that still runs like new and in all these years it has never been in a shop except for basic maintenance. I would like to get something new, but I just had it repainted instead. It still drives and feel like new.

Reliable, awesome truck! It just rocks on.

Although I had owned a number of the smaller Toyota 4x4 trucks before purchasing this truck (which by the way were as reliable as this one), this was my first full size 4x4 and my first 4x4 V8 with automatic transmission. Wow! I will never go back to a small truck again. I bought the truck a little over 3 years ago with 160K miles and got it for $4k below book. As I said earlier, my experience with Toyota 6cyl and 4cyl 4x4's were all positive but I was a little apprehensive about buying the V8 but the power of this engine has been anything but a disappointment. I not only use this truck as a workhorse truck (using to help pull down trees, hauling dirt, brush, and logs) but also as my everyday commute to work (70 miles roundtrip and I tend to have a bit of a leadfoot - trust me...the truck has not been babied). The truck has never failed me. Other than normal maintenance expenses and the added expense of less mpg with the V8, the only other expense was the replacement of the shocks after it rolled over to 200K since it still had the original shocks on it. The truck now has 212K miles and runs as good as it did when I bought it. My wife's car is a Nissan Maxima but whenever we go anywhere together, we take the truck. Needless to say..I love my Tundra. Great truck.

I purchased my Tundra Access Cab with the LTD trim package and the leather seats new in 2003. 2wd with Limited Slip Differential. So the truck is 12 years old with 130,000 miles on it as I write this. So far so good. Still comfortable, still reliable, still runs like new, carries or tows whatever I throw at it. Did change out the timing belt and water pump at 90,000 miles, but only because Toyota's maintenance schedule recommend it - no issues. Expect another decade from this truck.

My 03 Std cab, 4x4 was purchased used and beaten up but mechanically sound back in 2008. It has never left me standing, always starts even in -30 up here in Calgary. The crank windows and manual locks are annoying but it rides well, doesnt rattle, hauls everything, and serves as a perfect dirty contractor truck. The 4.7 sucks gas but the truck has get up and go. Not fast, but definitely quick. When i see other same model trucks out there i know the owners are enjoying the dependability, since Toyota definitely knows how to deliver up good trucks. This reflects in the resale price. I have 225,000 km on this truck and i know it can do another 225,000 no probs! Fluid and brakes only.

Bought my truck in August of 2003. Currently has 150,000 miles. It has NEVER refused to start or break down on the road. The only complaint is due to a worn rear bearing, which is somewhat due to wear and tear. Acceleration is very good, leaps ahead of the crowd at stoplights. Very comfy and ergonomically correct interior. Cloth is plushy. Exterior paint is too thin and chips easily. Bumper is not very strong compared to previous Chevy 1500 bumper (Front and Rear) but adequate.

I bought this truck brand new. Awesome acceleration, and pulling power. I have pulled things with this truck I shouldn't have. It hasn't let me down yet! Only exceptions is I had to replace two o2 sensors ($90 each). I am driving this truck until the wheels fall off. Only down side is the doors and the access cab needed to be a bit bigger. I love my Toyota! I remember driving off the lot for $14,000 tt&l to include extended warranty.

Greatest vehicle ever. Incredible power, not too shabby mpg for a V8. When I first bought it, I drove from Utah to Nebraska and back climbing through Wyoming, fighting strong headwinds and side winds traveling 85 to 105 mph. This truck never missed a beat and got 18 mpg. The only other time I calculated mileage was 2 years ago hauling a 4,000 lb. trailer from Utah to Indiana. I got 10 mpg, but I had no trouble keeping it at 80 to 85 even going up steep inclines. Other than the fact that it needs a new windshield now and the shocks aren't brand new, it still drives like a brand new truck even with 105,000 miles on it. Only regret: not buying leather interior. I never want to sell this truck!

This truck has just over 130k and I am not joking, NO MAJOR REPAIRS...Tires, Light Bulbs, Belts, Hoses and Oil, THAT"S IT! Also...18 + mpg around Houston Texas, and I'm not lying! I had a Toyota approved cold air intake installed at the dealer before I took it home. Well done Toyota!

This truck has been reliable 100%. It's been used and abused, but still runs like new. The bad: the engineer that designed the back seat was probably 4 feet short, fuel efficiency, this truck was not designed with fuel efficiency in mind. But If you don't have a big family is ok. My dogs love the back seat. I'm looking forward for many more years of driving this truck.

I've pulled a 4 horse trailer (loaded) from Colorado to Virginia and back, loaded up another adult and two children, plus a dog and had plenty of room left over. This is the best truck I've ever owned and will never have anything but a Tundra as a work truck ever again. It has comfort and performance. After 4 years, it still burns rubber if I have to get going quick. The TRD is great. I love it.

Never repaired in 59,000 miles, fits in a standard garage w/ walk-around room, quieter than most cars, powerful, great towing capacity, 18-20 mpg driven gently on Michelin tires and Amsoil 2000, amazing paint job, outstanding seats - more comfortable than my wife's Lexus. I towed a 5500 lb trailer all over Colorado and came down every pass except the single steepest one in the state. Did it in first gear hardly ever touching the brakes. 10-10.5 mpg towing @ 55. Burns zero oil in one year (13,000 miles). Be sure to change diff fluid. Mine had some metal shavings determined to be from mfg, not wear. Better than other trucks.

This truck is not good for kids and small children. There is not enough room for two car seats to sit side-by-side. That means there is wasted space in the middle. My kids' legs are crammed against our seats. I have hit my head in there numerous times getting them into the truck. The door design is horrible. If you park close to another car, you are sure to hit another car with the door getting your kids out. There isn't anything wrong with this truck if you don't have children. It's a good, reliable vehicle, but it's just not compatible with small children in car seats.

They are expensive, but are well worth it in the long run. This truck still looks and runs like new. Once they fixed the front brake problem on the 99 and 2000 models, this is THE truck to buy.

Bought truck used with 46,000 miles on it. Great truck, build quality is excellent like all Toyota products. Fuel mileage was 16 in town added an AFE cold air intake and now get 18-19 in town and 21-22 mpg on hiway. I also run synthetic oil in engine as well as both differentials. The only complaint I have is the access doors are inconvenient would have been much better design to have them open like a regular door. Maybe next time I will buy the double cab. Double cab not offered in 2003.

I love my 2003 Toyota Tundra stepside. I got this to replace my Toyota 4Runner which I really liked. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. I live in upstate new york where we got 4 feet of snow in one night. I decided to go to work the next day but I was sure I was not getting out of the driveway as it was over the bumper of the truck. I put the truck in 4WD and I was out. This truck has amazed me with all that it offers. I will always buy Toyota.

The only big draw back with the Tundra 4 door for 2003, was the way the back doors open. You have to open the front door first, and the front and back doors open in opposite directions. It is very difficult, in a tight parking spot to open the front and back doors at the same time to put something in the back seat. This was corrected in 2004 by redesign and allowing the back door to be opened without opening the front door. There is no heated seat feature, and no time-out option on the head lights (only on the camper light over the truck bed) Other than the above, it is a fantastic truck, with plenty of power for towing, and I highly reccommend it to prospective buyers.

After 3+ years and almost 40K miles, the relationship between my Tundra (Mr. T) and myself is still a match made in heaven. All I've done to the truck is put Mobil 1 in it every 5K miles. It still drives rattle free and exhibits no vibrations or brake problems. The engine is fabulous, as is the transmission, and they are tuned to work perfectly together. Although my Tundra is looking at 4 years old, I continue to receive compliments on my "new" truck. That's one benefit of parking in the lower 40 and being the only driver. It's worth it to keep Mr. T looking good.

I bought my truck brand new in march of '02. I heard good things in the past about toyota but soon found they couldnt handle the load of a worktruck like an american pickup. Paid 26,500 for my SR5 4x4 V8.. bad decision. While traveling though new mexico at 4800 miles my axle wentt bad in the rear, started to whine and went out, had to be towed.. at 28000 my transfer case wouldnt shift into 4x4 and started to grind, left me stranded in the mud looking like a fool, it was defective, my stereo soon went out, along with my passenger window.. im no complainer so i overlooked all those ridiculous problems, then at 42k my brakes failed and at 75k my tranny was slipping like ive never seen.

This has been an excellent truck. Bought it brand new in 3/03 and have not had it in for any kind of repairs what-so-ever. I have used it for all sorts of things...around town, travelling long distances, hauling light and heavy loads. No problems with the paint as others have mentioned...however, I keep mine in the garage when possible and wax it at least twice per year. The gas mileage, while not great compared to a car, is better than any truck or even SUV i've ever had. I avg 16mpg, and that is mostly city driving (range is 13-21). Excellent build quality and ride from a truck. Take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you!

Owned since aug 03 and now at end of lease term. Chose to keep. I'll skip what has been covered. Turn radius is awful, 45 feet... takes 4 and a half lanes to make a U turn. Still just too small. Add 5 more inches it will make a world of diff. Gas mileage on my v6 is not very good. Very comfortable. I use for long hwy trips and never need to stop to stretch. A serious work truck? Yes. Work truck capabilities? No. Styling on 03 looks too imported. Paint not too good. V6 is SLOW! No mech probs. No chk eng. No plastic parts falling off. As good as it gets.

Driving and ownership experience is without complaint. The Tundra handles well and drives easily. My experience as an owner is such that I would consider a Toyota Tundra again when I am ready to purchase again. I have not had a bad experience with this vehicle. I do think that the interior design should allow for more room in the rear passenger area. The leg room is too cramped. The front is comfortable but I would like for the driver's seat to move backward more than it does; however, it is OK.

It is the most comfortable truck I ever owned! The power from the 4.7 V8 is the most UNREAL powerhouse I have ever seen! The only thing I don't like is the quality of the seats. The foam inside the seat feels cheap and seems to feel worn out prematurely.

Purchased truck July 2003. List of problems I have had with this vehicle: 1) Rear seals on back of X-tra cab fixed due to rain water entering cab. 2) Fuel filler tube replaced because Check Engine light kept coming on. 3) Paint on driver's side door wore away and I had the entire door and front of the X-tra cab repainted at local body shop. Dealer agreed to pay for 1/2 of the repair. I declined offer, as I suspect there will be future problems with this. Other paint (salsa red pearl) peeling off of truck. 4) Factory Dunlop tires horrible. 5) X- tra cab uncomfortable. Not up to the standard for a Toyota. Marginal city MPG. Drivetrain excellent so far.

The vehicle required new front brakes at 30,000 (I don't tow or use it for work), one rear brake froze up at 25,000 miles (my Jeep and Fords didn't do this so the climate can't e blamed), paint seems to chip easily, and the steel wheels started rusting after the first winter. Worse is a constant noise in the front drive train that the dealer can't diagnose and has been little to no help in resolving. This is my last Toyota; I could have spent much less on another brand and thought I was avoiding these types of problems with a new vehicle.

Hauled firewood, dirt, gravel, etc. std shocks are weak. Should upgrade to heavy duty if hauling heavy loads. Overall happy with truck. Keep up with tranny maintenance. 2003 and up take ATF 4 only sold by toyota at 4+ a quart. Takes about 6-7 quarts every 30k mi. As far as backseat room, I have had a 350lb women and a 200lb man and they were comfy. ENJOY!

I have driven my Tundra under a variety of conditions. For highway driving, the Tundra handles like a car and the V-8 engine gives you acceleration on request. In winter conditions, the Tundra is nimble when maneuvering through snow covered roads. Like any machine, the Tundra has a few weaknesses. The braking is good but you will encounter pulsation with a quick slow down. The vehicle is hard on fuel, particularly if driven fast or when towing. For the most part, I am pleased with the truck. Although full size, the Tundra is a little more compact than North American pick-up trucks. Combine this with car like handling, and it makes the Tundra an ease to drive.

I have always been a car guy but since I moved into my first house, the need for a truck had become quite apparent. Overall, I really like the truck, the appearance is what initially sold me on this particular model. In the few months since I bought the truck, gas prices have soared and unfortuantly I am only getting about 17 mpg (and that is with an Cold Air Intake installed on the truck). I have not had any problems thus far with the truck. Very reliable Pros: Fun to drive, Loose back end makes corners fun (equipped with LSD), nice acceleration, nice appearance. Cons: Fuel economy, loose back end, paint job is kinda cheap, engine bay gets dirty quickly. Overall happy, but miss my car

If you don't need a heavy-duty work truck, this is the pickup truck for you. The V8 is a good compromise between power and gas mileage--if you're lightly-loaded. It has a smooth, quiet ride, high build quality and (so far) excellent reliability.

If you're looking for quality, reliability and value, get a Tundra. I'll take the gas mileage 16-19 anyday for the value and the low maintenance costs. Truly a well-built vehicle. Drivetrain is smooth and powerful. This should tell you all about Toyota engineering: they use 6 quarts of oil in the crank compared to 4 and 5 from everyone else. Get the towing package; if nothing else, you get the HD tranny with aux. cooler. The drivetrain will last forever. No regrets.

What a great truck. Don't believe the BS about how this truck doesn't tow like the domestic counterparts. I have the factory towing package and this truck tows my 21 foot Bass Boat like it wasn't even hooked up back there. Drives and rides very smooth, almost like a quality sedan. Of course, it also has Toyota reliability and warranty.

I really love my Tundra. I recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a reliable and solid pickup. The access cab is comfortable for most everyone. I do notice that 6' plus guys are cramped in the back, but everyone else is fine. The only drawback is for the stereo crowd. It's a pain to fit 12" subs in this truck. I had to put in two 8" subs under the rear seats. If you don't care about the low lows this truck is solid. Electronics and alarm are perfect. Paint is pretty good. Not easily scratched. Motor is Toyota... what else do you have to say.

I have absolutely nothing but positive comments for this vehicle. I have ridden in many pickups/SUVs, and this one takes the cake. Smooth, soft, powerful ride. Simple, reliable interior, sharp-looking exterior. I have the TRD package and it is amazing. You can crawl up a tree in 4WD Lo and it bear hugs a wet road in 4WD Hi. Dual airbags make it safe for everyone! I love this truck!

I love my truck. I spent 6 months researching and test driving before I bought my Tundra. The chevy just felt like I was driving a boat and the ford just felt cheaply made. The two things that set the Tundra appart was the smooth responsive engine and the substantially higher quality interior. The only truck that comes close it is the new Nissan Titan. Even with the new F-150, American brands have a long way to catch up.

Overall I'm satisfied with my overgrown T-100. Yes, this 3.4 is the same powerplant the T-100 had but - without the 24 MPG. Currently I get 18-19 mpg. For a V-6 - well I'm somewhat disappointed. Seems Toyota thought more fuel realated computer adjustments might be helpful...cough, cough. Also hav eto echo a comment another reviewer had...the clock should have been left at the upper center of the dash (like the T-100) - now its so low, when the sun shines its a distraction. Again, overall - this is an excellent truck!

I purchased My Tundra in April of 2003. So far I have accumulated over 38,000 miles on this vehicle. I have used this truck for light hauling, towing, highway driving, transporting passengers, and many other things. This is a quality sound vehicle that I have enjoyed fully. After test driving other trucks such as (FORD,DODGE,GMC, and CHEVY) the Tundra by far was the BEST choice for ME. This is a sound vehicle that just flat beat the competition. After three decades the BIG THREE still cannot build a quality truck for the consumer. For those that complain about the TUNDRA, remember this vehicles history is less than 5 years old.

It is nice not to know any service writers although Precision is a great dealership. The truck rides better than the Avalon and hauls what I need it to. Most of the larger trucks, the so called heavy duty, are great for just that, however, the majority of the miles call for comfort and reliability.

Truck leans to one side,Bed misaligned with Cab, Toyota Factory Rep. claims it is "Normal Variation In Manufacturing Tolerances". I think they repaired the one they used in the "Rhino" comercial on TV or dropped it off the car transporter and then sold it to me. Transmisson can't decide which gear it wants to be in. Noisiest brakes I have ever had. Cheep cloth interior. Jittery ride, Noisy, Gas mileage much worse than stated on window sticker, Uncomfortable Captain's chairs and driving position. Chippy paint, I only rated it a One because a ZERO was not a option. Not a real Truck. A poor excuse for a $30,000+ window sticker.

I like the fact that my truck is full size but not...... It is easy to maneuver which is something I was worried about coming from a Honda Civic. I think it is very comfortable atleast the front seats are. I have the bench seat in the front (the middle seat where the arm rest goes up isn't all that comfy). The back seat is comfortable and roomy for people under 6', but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone on long roadtrips. The back seat is very "L" shaped, no recline or bucket to it at all.

I haven't had this truck long...it's been good so far. Good, not great. After 3,000 miles, I noticed a popping sound coming from the passenger glove compartment and rattling under the driver's side console. I'm sure this has something to do with the cheap plastic interior, and I didn't expect a $30,000 truck to have problems such as these. But for hauling, towing, and driving, it's been perfect so far. For off-roading types, this is the truck to get, if you need a full-size truck. I've had it off-road several times, and this is where you see the build quality come into play - it is very sure-footed, even in the loosest sand in the Arizona sand washes. Mine is a 4x4/TRD - don't settle for less. After an all-day trip on the highway, my back/butt were fine, so no complaints about the seating. I carry my dirt-bike up hills/no problem at all. The tranny was a bit jerky at first, but now it is starting to loosen up (as expected).

Serenely quiet in town and on the highway. Great acceleration and good handling. Gas milage okay - 17 MPG mixed. Fit and finish are remarkable. Haven't checked towing yet, but expect it will be quite capable. 4X4 works well and transmits road feel to the steering wheel.

This is my first truck, but I have to agree with others who say that the Tundra is a "car-like" drive.I am really excited b/c by the time I pay off the payments, I will probably have a baby or young one who will be able to enjoy the truck for several years to come. I reccommend the Tundra over the competition (and I did test drive the competition). I have sports package, towing package, sr5, all weather guard, and midline radio out the door for 23,850 (about 30K after 100k warranty and other tax, charges). 0 down and 1.9%apr = EXACTLY 500 a month for a truck that is tough, sporty, and had a bumper to bumper for the next 7yrs/100k!

Steel wheels are rusting at 3000 miles. Truck is not used in adverse conditions. Major cabin vibration at 70mph. Dealership is unable to fix problem, already changed drive shaft, one rim,one tire, and offset balance ot tires three times. Not the quality I expected when paying extra for the Toyota name.

After only a few hundred miles on truck, it developed a vibration in front-end when brakes were applied. ( Highway driving, no towing or hauling carrying about 150lbs. of tools). Dealer repaired brakes 4 times, after which arbitration was started for a manufactures repurchase. Toyota apparently knows of this inherent design flaw and has corrected it newer models, However after winning my arbitration and manufacture repurchased vehicle,I was told by a Toyota Rep. that dealership(Sierra Toyota) Has now listed me as an " abusive driver."

This truck is a 7/8 scale of a full sized truck, it is about like a Dodge Dakota. The back seat is something to look at not sit in. Texaco loves the 14-15 mpg its gets, I don't. The brakes are weird. It doesn't haul a full load, like the Chevy C/K 1500 or Fords 1500. The interior is well designed and it is nice driving. This is a poor imitation of a full size truck. Sorry I got this looser.

The malfunction indicator light came on 3 days after I bought it - only 100 miles. The manual says - send the truck to dealership. This is very bad error message. Then a bit more details in the manual describes the possible cause by loose fuel cap. Sent it to the dealership next day, and have them check the computer codes in the truck. They says the same thing. Reset the error codes and have the mechanics tighten the cap for me. The next day driving to work, the indicator came on again. A lemon?

So far so good. The truck has performed without hesitation and without requiring any stops at the dealership. The engine is actually getting stronger as it breaks in, and the silky smooth acceleration. The brakes feel good, they respond quickly and quietly in all situations. I have towed with it a few times and have had it loaded with at least1/2 ton and at most 1700lbs of sand, rock or mulch on several occasions, the engine handled it with aplomb, but the truck reminds you it’s a light duty when the rear end hits the stops. So all in all it fits our lifestyles nicely and is quickly becoming a trusted member of our stable.

I'm in construction and I've owned mid- sized 4x4's to get around job sites. My son totalled my Dakota and I decided to move up to a full-size. The Dakota was a toy compared to the Tundra. I'm on the management side so, I don't carry ladders or forms or lumber, ect. I think a used Chevy would be better for that stuff. But I do have to get around in the snow and mud and spend a lot of time on the road. This is a smoooooth shifter that everybody on the job site tells me they wish they owned.

Traded in a Ford F-250, it was a good truck and served me well, however, the Tundra is excellent! Looked at the Fords again but they wouldn't deal on them and are alittle to proud of something that does not hold value very long. Driving the Tundra is like riding in my wifes Highlander, very smooth. It offers all that an American made truck has but holds it's value. Also, the Toyota's have the better warranty (5 yr/60,000 miles on the drivetrain), and thats comforting. Also, the reliability is second to none.

I find it comical these clowns that give it realy low ratings have nothing better to do than put down trucks they wish they could afford. After owning a '81,'91 F150, '96 full sized bronco and multipul Honda cars and minivans I came to the conclustion the Hondas were superior vehicles to Fords. Honda does not make a truck so I bought the tundra. As far as people saying they are not work capable, that is just pure garbage. It's funny that my Tundra will pull my trailer loaded with my Kubota tractor (together weigh in at just over 5000lbs) over Parleys summit easily at 70mph. My Bronco w/ 5.8L barley did that alone.

The truck is pretty fast, for a nearly-full size truck. Like the torque. I'm getting 16 mpg in town, and I'm a lead foot 50% of the time. I plan to tow a 5000 pound travel trailer, shouldn't have any problem.

I drove a Ford Lariat & it was nice, but, like StephG, when I drove the Tundra a half mile down the road, the Ford was out of the running. Tundra is far smoother running & solid feeling. Of course, you can't beat Toyota for quality & reliability. My old Toyota small truck is 18 years old & has original clutch. Tundra has easy access to all components under the hood; Ford looks like they went out of their way to cover up all components with plastic shrouds. Toyota is traditionally conservative in styling-this truck doesn't have leading edge bells & whistles, just good quality & the features most people want.

I don't require much passenger space, so no need to trade the long bed for the small second seating area. I am certainly having a hard time getting used to 16 miles per gallon. However, the mileage is pretty much on par with other trucks of its size. Edmunds "cost to own" feature shows it is the least expensive truck to own in its class (.40 cents per mile, compared to .47 and .48 cents per mile for the competitors). The ride is extremely smooth and quiet, and I do feel that the V6 provides adequate power for the light truck user. For folks like me who just fill the bed up with various items the V8 would provide excess power!

I bought the Tundra as an extra to have a vehicle to lug stuff, if I need to. I looked at GM,Ford and Dodge, and after a (very) short test drive in the Tundra - the others were no longer in the running. Comfort and quietness, smoothness, handling...all great. No problems other than the dealer not installing the bedliner correctly, so it was not under the rails. I use my truck for towing a racecar and part time commuting. If you have heavy towing (I tow about two tons) don't bother with a six cylinder. Even if you think you might someday want to use your truck for "real work", get a V8! It cruises quite comfortably and quietly at extralegal speeds while not towing and the "pickup" is good. It even has very little trouble towing up steep California hills. It's too major faults is that the two rear seats aren't really useful, and the range isn't great (I get ~12mpg towing with a tank capacity of somewhat less than 30 gallons).

When I shopped for a truck, the first thing I considered was proven reliability. That narrowed my shopping quickly. The Tundra has a track record of reliability, and Toyota has built quality vehicles for years, so it was not hard to consider the Tundra. I usually buy Nissan vehicles, but lately their quality has not been what it used to be. I first thought the Tundra would be too big, but when I took the test drive, I fell in love with it. It does not "feel" as big as the Ford F-150 I had driven, and in some ways, it actually feels like driving a very comfortable car, with extra meat. This is a fantastic truck, that is built in Indiana.

I don't really like trucks of any kind as they all handle poorly and waste gas. However, as a Fabricator/Designer I need a truck to pick-up materials and deliver the finished product. I have owned this truck for almost two years with no problems of any kind. It has never failed to perform even when loaded to capacity. The V-6 engine isn't fast but it is strong and steady. The truck has a car-like smoothness and quiet ride that rivals many cars I've driven. It handles good and better than any other truck I've driven. Fit and finish are very good and the truck is just the right size to take into urban areas; easy to park and maneuver.

I like everything about the Tundra except for the way it shifts at low speeds. If you accelerate quickly it shifts fine but if you are in rush hour traffic or just drive slowly it surges into gear when it upshifts. Also, the transmission does not know which gear to be in at around 11 mph. Be careful when you test drive because the truck shifts great when cold, make sure it is warm before you decide to buy.

This truck is fast, 0-60 is better than the Big 3 in this class. Best crash safety rating over Big 3. Smooth Lexus engine. Solid ride with little noise. Burns no oil. Excellent mileage (better than expected). Perfect extended cab truck.

First non-US pickup I have purchase but got tired of rattles in GM and Fords so decided to go with a Tundra. Can't believe a pick-up can run so quitetly, have so much power, and go over some wash boards without a rattle or vibration. Can't wait to see if it holds up but can recommend it to someone who doesn't like to have buttons fall off in the interior and gaps in moldings that I know I have found on US trucks.

Looks like the Tundra needed some help to off-set the obvious biased, false ratings ftom the disatified American Brand owners. Notice I send American Brand, but the truck is probably not american made. Where is the tundra made? INDIANA!

This is a very good truck. My previous truck was a 98 GMC Z71. This truck is somewhat smaller but has significantly higher build quality. The gas mileage is extremely disappointing; it is as bad as the GMC which also stinks.

I love this truck. I've had mine less than a year and it SO beats the life out of the Chevy piece of junk I had. If you want a truck to haul truck stuff, ride well, and be reliable AND be worth something should you decide to sell it a few years down the road -- get a Toyota. Fantastic Truck!

I test drove the big 3 and wasnt impressed with the build quality of them. The tundra is a little smaller, but, this makes it easier to park, more fun to drive and it actually fits into the garage. It does not however have as much interior room as the others, but, other than children (who fit fine in the tundra) how often are you going to drive long distances with adults in the back.I understand that some may need the chevy heavy duty for "heavy duty" truck work that calls for a diesal or bigger engine and payloads, but for the average truck person who occasionally tows, hauls, and uses their truck as a truck/commuter, the Tundra is a perfect fit.

I am an engineer and I reserched all the trucks and read at least 20 differnt articals. The tundra comeout on top for what I and about 90% of truck buyers use it for. I do some heavy hauling and have towed 2 trucks with it with no problems. This truck has great power and a great ride. (This is the best truck out there)

I finally got tired of visiting my '97 F-150 at the repair shop and got the Tundra. After 9K of problem free driving I couldn't be happier. Exceelent buld quality, outstanding engine and Lexus like ride. Great personal truck...if I was going to get a work truck I'd probably buy an old Chevy beater.

I bought this because it got good reviews. Bad call. My buddy just bought a Dodge and was telling me how happy he was with it. I almost thought about getting one, but people said good things about the Toyota Tundra. I've had to go back to the dealer for work 3 times already. In addition, it doesn't hand wear and tear at all. At this point, I am really thinking about getting rid of it, taking the loss and getting the Dodge or the Ford. Stay away from this one. It's built cheap and requires way too much maintenence.

I was suprised and impressed with the smoothness of the ride when I test drove the truck. The access cab seat is small and upright, but I only intend to use it to carry my kid(s). I bought a 4WD V8 Tundra Access cab because of the engine, expected reliability, managable size, room in the access cab for car seats, and it's strength and versatility.

I have had a few chevys and a ford and none of them came close to the comfort and solid feel of my Tundra. Those fancy new silveradoes, f150s and rams will be money pits in 6 years. That is the real test of a truck, not how it is new, but how it with 100k miles on it. I have no doubt about the tundra. The motor is made to last over 200k. Look at any of the high mileage landcruisers. If you are looking for a compact/full size this is by far the best thing on the market.

Truck is a 2000. Many quiet recalls. . Wrong dip stick, Replaced rear shocks, CD player. Trans shifting, security system, and rear door problems. Really bad brakes. Still not fixed after 2 + years. Weak low-end torque. Fair fuel economy. Too soft a real work truck. Not designed for recreation either. Useless rear seat. Weak bumpers. Trans is cold blooded. Up shifts too soon when cold. Too much tappet noise for a new truck. Rear door mechanism needs work. Not a serious truck. Don't be suckered in by resale figures, or reliability ratings, or sales hype. Buy one of the big three or a Tacoma would be a better choice.

As an owner of several other trucks, my experience with the Tundra has been excellent. The ride is smooth and quiet, the interior is comfortable and well designed. The build quality of this truck is excellent in all aspects. Only gripes are that turning radius is fairly large and requires some planning for U turns etc. The rear seats could also use a few more inches of space. My Tundra has been getting very close to the rated milage for both city and highway. The engine is responsive with plenty of torque. I test drove Ford, Dodge, Nissan and Toyota (Tacoma) trucks before selecting the Tundra. Good Choice!

I've driven many full sized trucks and for the money, this one beats them all. This truck has the smoothest ride even with the offroad package I've experienced in a full size. The one thing that I would change is the room in the back, other than that, I've found this truck to have plenty of power and great handling. The style fits a younger image than Chevy and the torque is higher than Ford (in a comparable truck.) I would definitely recommend this truck for those wanting power, reliability and style.

The truck was delivered new in pristine condition. Problems: front disc brakes warp easily. Some front suspension noise or roughness. Poor dealer service. Not enough engine torque especially going uphill. Poor mileage. Not enough storage cubbyholes inside. Rear seat back should tilt foward for more storage. Hard to park due to big turning radius. Bed height is too shallow.

This truck is excellent. They redesigned the grill for 2003, which I like. The ride is pretty smooth for a truck. It has plenty of power (it's hard not to speed). My only gripe is that compared to other extended cabs, the rear seats seem smaller.
