I recently bought this car. I've already had to replace the timing chain and catalytic converter. This car does have great gas mileage, 30 miles per gallon. It has comfy seats and is higher off the ground than other sedans of this era. However the paint is peeling off and the engine is horrible. If you want a commuter car that gets good gas mileage and don't mind having repairs this is the car for you.

This car is a beast that just wants to keep going. 202,000 and I just had a number of wear & tear repairs but I think it's at the half life point roughly. Weather doesn't phase it and the rust is very minimal for a car I don't garage or baby in any way. Superb investment so glad I bought it new.

I bought this car brand new off the lot and 12 years, and 250,000 miles later, still running like new! Very very minimal maintenance required for this car! i have barely done oil changes and only other repairs were replacing sway bar, a sensor that went at about 180k, and thats it! Even mechanics have told me that this is one of the best cars that toyota has put out and i very much believe that.

This has been the worst car I have ever owned I got it with 116k on it and it has nothing but break every few months since I got it power steering g rack and pinion tie rods tires starter the trunk broke fuses 3 batterys not to mention it gets terrible gas mileage my 95 astro got better mileage it has the turn radius of 1 ton dually cummins and sounds like crap the trannys almost blew up and it bounces around past 65 to were I won't go on the freeway with It I drive my 95 civic over it all the time not to mention how it accelerated full throttle at an intersection by its self and almost killed my family toyota needs to take responsibility for there crap cars I wouldn't recommend toyota.

Bought new in December 2002. Today (Feb 2013) the car is now 517,000 km. @ 420,000 km the strut was replaced. the right one started to leak. the other one is still ok but replaced as well as they needed to be replaced at the same time. @ 425,000 km. the front and rear wheel bearing on the driver's side were replaced. @ 475,000 km. the starter was replaced. @ 517,000 km. the sway bar link was replaced. others are just the normal maintenance like battery, oil changes, serpentine belt, transmission oil changes, air filter, cabin filters. The car drives like the day I drove it out of the dealership. The rest of the car is original...including the rotor. the car just starts and go in all weather

Ten years ago I bought my 2003 Corolla LE brand new, and it has been rock solid in terms of reliability. In the ten years I've owned this car (115,000 miles) I have had only one repair that was not usual wear-and-tear (air conditioner went out). Everything else has stood the test of time. So I give this car a 5 in terms of value, build quality, and reliability. As for performance, comfort, and fun to drive, the Corolla is admittedly not top-of-the-line (you're not going to win races with this thing or feel like you're sitting in a recliner), and gas mileage by today's standards isn't spectacular. But, I trust this thing just as much today as I did the day I bought it and that says something.

i had the car for a year with 80,000 mile on it and everything was excellent for the first year. after the year past, my mpg just tanked on me and i was only getting 12 mpg. it got loud when i am driving on the highway, the rear speakers had static sounds. the brakes just sucked with the crappy ABS in it. then i got into my accident. the passenger seat belt didn't lock when my passenger side got hit, the airbag blew. then when they went back the seat belt lock. good car, but not good in accidents.

Purchased my Corolla in March 2002. At this time (June 2011) there are 49800 miles on it. Here is every problem I've ever had with it over 9 years in chronological order: - steering wheel was slightly out of alignment, tilting to the left a bit; Toyota straightened it under warranty - AC cut out while I took a 600 mile road trip; only happened once, didn't need to fix it - squealing started off and on from the engine/belt; had belt replaced but squealing continued; sources online say it's a belt tensioner problem; happens inconsistently; haven't fixed it yet - crackling distortion began from rear speakers - rear wheel bearings needed replacing, $1260 for parts + labor

My brother talked me into buying a Toyota and I do love it. However, I had to replace the drivers side wheel bearing in July of last year, no problem - I expect to have to pay for this type of maintenance. I had about 110,000 miles on it. A year later and 25,000 miles later - the same wheel bearing goes. I explain to the dealer that it doesn't make sense that I have to replace it yet again. The other one has never been replaced. They simply said its normal wear and tear because of the amount of miles I have put on it. We even called Toyota directly and we are waiting for some answers. Hopefully they will make it right. I was sold on Toyota, but may not be now. Will depend on how they respond.

I bought the car new in 2002 and now have 98,000 miles on it. It required front brake pads due to squealing brakes at 25,000 miles and was done free. Have performed routine maintenance - battery 60,000 miles, tires 60,000 miles, brakes 85,000 miles. After the brakes at 85,000 there was a persistent squeal and the car needed 2 more trips back to the dealer. Was given a free loaner car for the 2 returns and it was handled very professionally. Other than that I routinely get 34-35 mpg with about 65% highway driving. The car is actually fun to drive and I am always the first "out of the blocks". Minimal road noise at cruising speed and very smooth highway manners.

Had my car for almost 7 years now and I can say it has been great. Yeah, it's not a BMW, but its a easy drive, fuel efficient and has good room for the size. I recently upgraded to a high end VW Passat wagon, and even though it is classier I miss my Toyotas efficiency (wife drives it now).

I am the original owner of this car, I used to drive 1000 miles + per month in this car for about 2 years. I have not had one thing need maintenance, it is even on the original AC coolant. The only problems have been from other people dinging my car. Everything in the car still works great, just needs a tune up to improve power. With regular oil services and tire rotations, I have never had this car in any shop at all. Great purchase for reliability.

I purchased my !st Corolla in 1989 (a 1984 for 3K with 45k miles on it) That car lasted me for 7 years with no problems. It finally died in 1996. I would have been happy if it lasted 3 years. Then I owned a Honda Accord from 1996 to 2004. I can not remember the problems but I was not nearly as satisfied with my Honda. I went back to the Toyota Corolla in 2004 and have been happy ever since. I purchased the car used with 12k miles. It now has 123k and I have not had a single problem. Just routine maintenance, replaced tires, oil, transmission fluid, batteries. I just love the great gas mileage. With gas at 3.00/gal, I fill it up for about 25 and go almost all week.

I had no trouble with this car and felt it was highly reliable, like the Toyota reputation suggested. I bought the car new and always took car of the maintenance. Then at 59,000 miles, the transmission completely failed. No warning, no symptoms, just stop at a light and when the light turned green, the car would not move. Turned it off and turned it back on, and when I put the car in drive, the car made a horrible grinding sound. Called Toyota and they would do nothing for me. 6/60000 miles was the warranty. Guess they had it figured out just right. I'll never buy a Toyota again.

I traded in my Jeep Cherokee for better gas mileage only to find that I'm getting between 19 and 23 miles per gal. around the city on my 2003 corolla 1.8. By the way it is an automatic transmission.

This has been the worst car I've ever owned. I've had to replace the rear hubs ($1200+), the catalytic converter ($200) and the air conditioner. The interior of the car has completely come apart and the hub caps have all fallen off. I've owned cars that were way older and never had problems like I have with my Corolla. DO NOT BUY ONE!!!

I've put 217k on my car, I commute to my job I do the maintenance on this vehicle myself, iridium plugs, serpentine belt, oil changes ac relay at 153k $90 at the dealers. I was a mechanic in the service, so not a problem, tires at 50k intervals, I put aftermarket rims on it after I lost a few hubcaps on the road, this vehicle has been a great investment and good amigo.

I'm not a Toyota person at all but family members of mine own it & i drive it all the time. It gets excellent gas mileage and is very reliable. The ride is smooth and fun, it would make a good car to learn to drive in. The design is bland (as are all toyotas) but the interior quality is top-notch and after 6 years its in amazing shape inside and out. The inside is also roomy and comfortable but there aren't many cup holders. But overall, I think it;s a great car for the money and would recommend it for someone who just needs a cheap, reliable car to get from point A to B.

Having bought Toyota in the past and knowing of corolla reliability and fuel economy we purchased ours used from a dealer with 60000kms on it. I drive all highway. It has cost us a transmission rebuild (it's a manual) for differential bearings and now tranny won't shift into fourth all the time. Wheel bearings go quickly and car is so loud from wheel/bearing noise you have to yell to be heard. I'm done with Toyota.

I have 186,000 miles on my Corolla and the only thing that has gone wrong is the headlight bulbs burned out at about 100,000 miles. That was a $10 dollar fix I did myself. I give it regular maintenance and it runs like a champ. Great gas mileage and EXTREMELY reliable. Again, 186,000 trouble free miles!!! That is no joke.

I bought my Corolla 5 years ago and in that time I put 225000 km on it. I have not once had a problem with it. With the 5-speed it is fun to drive and super reliable! Unfortunately I got in an accident with it and it was written-off. Now it's so hard to find a second-hand Corolla with low KMs.

It even has the original battery. Absolutely flawless reliability. I will never buy any other brand! And yes, I can still get 40+ miles per gallon on the highway. This is one of the best cars in the world for the price and more. I love my Corolla. Turns on a dime, great gas mileage avg 25-27 mpg at speeds of 80-90 all the time. Over 6 yrs ownership, and oil changes and tire rotations are your only maintenance items needed. Excellent ride, great interior, lots extras, @ 74,000 miles it still feels new, with new tires and struts, this will feel like a brand new car. Everyone that drives in my car, complements it in one way or another. Compare it to any car out there and it can compete. Better reliability than a BMW or Mercedes for half the money.

Bought my '03 Corolla used with 87,000 miles on it. I am a Home Health nurse and needed an inexpensive, reliable car with good gas mileage and a roomy trunk. This Corolla has met all my needs and then some. I have fallen in love with this car. I spend hours a day in it, minimum 500-600 miles a week in all kinds of conditions and weather and this car has not let me down yet. I now have 123,000 miles on it and plan to drive it another 120,000 +. No mechanical issues. I have only performed maintenance: replaced filters, tires, brakes, spark plugs, as well as oil changes every 3000 miles and transmission service. One small problem,have blown a fuse twice from using plug in to charge laptop computer.

Good reliable, well made compact car that gets very good fuel economy. A couple of things that bother me having taken so many long trips: the seats are not very good and I use a cushion to make things more comfortable. The brakes are average at best and you have to plan your stops. The car is really not that quiet on the highway but it is an economy car. The engine works well but the last year is making a droning sound that we thought was coming from the front end or tires. I changed the tires and had the front end checked, but not luck. The body is starting to show signs of rust on the hood of all places. You clearly need winter tires for traction in the snow because the car is so light.

I have had this vehicle for over five years and haven't had one problem with it. It is snappy off the line and gets great gas mileage (32-34 mpg around town and 36-38 mpg on the highway). I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a safe, reliable car with good gas mileage.

I loved this car, meant to keep it many more years, until a drunk driver totaled it and left me without it. It was great on fuel economy, mostly highway driving, a great 35 to 37 mpg. It was comfortable and easy to handle, excellent braking. Reliability was excellent, nothing wrong in the 5 yrs I owned it. Now trying to find another comparable is turning into a nightmare, as prices have been hiked up for these great cars, and no 2003 or 04 models out there with low mileage.

Loved this car. Bought it brand new. There was no other compact sedan as stylish as this at the time. Car felt much more expensive than it actually was. I totalled the car less than a year after having it. Ran head on into a telephone pole due to road conditions. Airbag deployed, I was completely fine. From inside the vehicle you would have never known it was wrecked (except the airbag and cracked windshield). Very solid!

I bought my 2003 Corolla new in June 2002, and it has been plagued with quality issues from the start - a major surprise as I thought Toyota was known for its reliability. Some of these issues are minor but annoying (my center console door broke after a few months and won't close, and my dashboard fuses have blown twice). However, the engine started leaking at 40,000 miles, a $400 fix. Most disappointingly, I had to completely replace the power steering rack at 80,000 miles for $1100. Also, the serpentine belt needed replacing at 50,000 miles ($200) and now, at 90,000 miles, I'm told it needs replacing again. I won't buy another Toyota

Best Compact Car

I have 103000 miles on my 03 LE Corolla. This LE will last 400,000 miles just by changing the trans fluid every 10,000 ml, oil at 3,000 ml, spark-plugs at 10-15 months. Tires when worn. The higher wheel base keeps the car from scarping the curb. You can also repair (or find mechanics to repair this car) very cheaply! With premium or high octane gas I get 34cty/40hwy. And I drive at speeds of 70+mph! The speakers are fine but I hate the lame radio/DVD which is too hard to swap out and the space doesn't accommodate any of the popular MP3 players! The larger headlights are a welcomed improvement. The higher door and head room is a great improvement for my bike and computer stuff.

Car seems to handle great, and rides smooth for a small car. Has a fast 4 cylinder motor with enough torque and horsepower to get up to speed in heavy traffic. A great buy for the long commuter or college student who needs a dependable cost efficient ride.

A nice little car. The angle from the seat to the gas pedal seems a bit awkward and has a tendency to hurt my right knee after driving for more than 30 minutes or so. I may just be used to sitting higher in pickup trucks. The car has plenty of power and rides nicely.

Added on the 100,000 mi warranty and expected for features that had gone out to be fixed - not so. Had air conditioner problems from the time of purchase, has been worked on several times. I have learned to tap a box underneath the glovebox to get the air conditioner started at times. Power locks started going out at 40,000 mi. Eventually they all went out after the warranty expired and now I can't manually lock my doors on the driver's side. To get the power locks fixed will cost $2000-3000. Have replaced Toyota hub caps several times for about $80 dollars a piece. Plugged in a bottle warmer into the cigarette lighter, radio, dashboard features, and cigarette lighter fuse blew out.

I bought this used in Sept. 05 with 50K on it and now have over 114K on it. I haven't had a single issue with it. It's not flashy, but with the 5spd it's fairly peppy and fun to drive. Surprisingly roomy and easy riding on the highway. 36/38 mpg in the winter 40/42 in the summer, pretty much all highway miles.

My Toyota Corolla LE has been an above average vehicle, but it has had several problems. The keyless entry stopped working around 60,000 miles and the trunk latch busted around 70,000 miles. Then at 80,118 miles my catalytic converter had to be replaced at a cost of $1400. The emissions warranty expired at 80,000 miles and Toyota refused to help me with the cost. I expected a better vehicle and better customer service from Toyota. Overall it has been an above average car, but the quality issues and the service issues must be improved.

Exceptional reliability. A joy to drive, with 'distance' gas milage in the low 30's m/g. This model gives a very bumpy ride, as if the tires were grossly over- inflated. With 15" wheels, it is a ppor ride. The tires (Firestone) this model came with were "ride-ranked" the lowest of 32 others that would fit the wheel (by tirerack)

This is my second Corolla. The first was a 1998. As good as the 1998 Corolla was the 2003 was like night and day - fantastic. The car is solid, reliable, handles very well and has a good pick up. The charted overall mileage since 8-02 is slightly below 28.5 mpg. The car has a good sound system. The layout is user friendly. The car has held its value over the years far better, I would say, than anything American in that price range.

We bought the first year of the current generation of Corollas, which isn't always a good idea. It is our first Toyota, and it won't be our last. In just under four years, we have had NO problems with the Corolla, except replacing the tires after just 20,000 miles. It holds four family members (two teenagers, not children) and all our luggage on our non-camping vacations. Unlike one of the other reviewers, our paint looks great. We may never buy anything but a Toyota again.

Pros: If you are looking for a 1st New Car to buy or lease, I recommend the Corolla. The MPG can't be beat both on Highway and city. It has excellent carrying capacity which is surprising for a car this size. For a 4 cyl it is fast and lightweight which all contribute to fuel economy. Cons: Some people like the low-rider look with low fenders which the sport model features. Downside is it easily scratched on concrete parking blocks or dips especially exitting elevated parking.

Wow, I have owned 3 Toyotas now and I cannot believe this one got past them. I bought this '03 Corolla in '05 with 40,000 miles on it. Only 5,000 miles after the sale the car began rattling in the dash. Then came the driver's door, and now the passenger door. This car rattles so bad it rivals my 1999 Oldsmobile that I traded in with 110,000 miles. Other than that the car is super great on gas. My best rating was 47 MPG on a trip to Wisconsin. I average 33 MPG city/highway (mostly highway). The car is super agile and can cut through traffic with ease. The brakes are very strong & the suspension is great! If only it had more power. Oh well, it's great for an economy car!

Mileage went from ok to poor in only 5-6000 miles. Corolla started at 34mpg first tank to 27-28mpg after 5-6k miles. I have always gotten better milage than stated except for these cars. The sheet-metal on the car is too thin. It dents when you wash it. The trunk's side-walls are not 2-ply. I had a cardbord box dent out the side when driving around a corner. The padding on the seats is sub-standard. When getting in you feel the tube steel in the side bolsters. I am less than 200lbs. Toyota= D-!

I use this car to commute but i live in sf and in traffic or breezing on the freeway this car fits the bill. Gas mileage is awesome and trunk space is big enough to hold all my gear. This is my first Toyota and the reputation of it being a great reliable car is accurate. 3 years on the road and zero problems. Oil changes every 5000 miles and i'm on my way again. They are ubiquitous on the road but there is a reason for this. If you need to commute or you just don't want to think about your car... this is the car for you.

My experience with the Toyota Corolla has been wonderful. I love the comfort level, it is a smooth ride. The best fuel economy out of all cars that I have ever had (I have had 4 cars including this one.)! I love the interior room. The wood paneling is okay... it looks real, but when I purchased it I thought it looked a little cheesy, but I don't pay attention to it anymore. Overall, I love this car! I wish the extras were standards. I have the moonroof which helps circulate the air when I am not using the A/C. Lots of storage. Great cupholders in front and back. Love the trunk. Plenty of space in the trunk. I love the design of this car. It handles nicely around curves,and slopes

I have no complaints about my awesome 2003 corolla S. I've had the car for a little over 2 years, and have had to do no maintenance but change the oil. The exterior is very well made. While I am proud to this car, I find that it lacks a few horses. Overall, it is responsive throughout the band but you're pushing the limits close when needing umph to pass. Seats are comfy and ergonomics are good other than the stereo being a bit out of reach. Handles well for a front wheel drive vehicle but not a tight turning radius though. Great fuel efficiency-perfect for today's market. Needs some rims and a shark fin antenna to be completely stylish. Only one weird anomaly- the throttle stuck on me ~4500 rpm once. Really scary and dealership mechanics can't identify the problem. What can I say though Toyota's done well with this car. I am pleased!

This is a great second car - great gas mileage, sporty looks, and comfortably holds four adults. The only problems I have had have been electrical. Within two months of having the car, the daytime running lights would not turn off. I had to return to the dealership three times to finally have it fixed correctly. About a year after having the car, I noticed that when the lights were on and I hit the automatic door locks, the horn would honk. On one occasion while driving with the lights on, I hit a large bump in the road and the horn started honking one solid sound. I had to pull over and turn off the lights to stop the sound. I love this car, but there are some electrical problems.

Overall, I have been happy with my Corolla. The gas mileage is just fantastic. I have had a few minor quality problems such as the seal around the doors coming loose. It handles well in the snow, but it is a little shaky in windy conditions.

I bought the Corolla in April of 2003 to replace my 1997 Geo Prizm. Mechanically, you can't complain about the Corolla. It is a sold contruction and quality materials. As a Toyota, you know it will run forever. And the gas mileage is unbeatable. On the flip side, though, this car is way too tall for its wheelbase. The first time I drove it on a windy day I was unable to stay in my lane. I did not feel safe in the car, which ultimately led me to get rid of it. The engine is kind of pokey, too. I had to floor it getting on the highway. Toyota would be wise to give a bigger engine option and stabilize the car.

Since purchasing my Corolla, I have had no complaints at all. The build quality is fantastic, and the engine has a surprising amount of pep. It blows away all of the other economy cars I've driven. Love my car 110%. Gas mileage is excellent. Averaging 30 mpg and hit 41 mpg on first long haul. This is with the AUTO transmission. No maintanence problems. Sound system excellent. The tires slip easily in the rain. Excellent rear seat legroom

had this car about a 1.5yr. low milage for time. great gas milage !! no problems. nice solid feel. quiet. nice detailed interior and design. sharp looking exterior with nice ground effects. really not that quick. expected that with auto and small 1.8. developing a small rattle sound from back right rear door area at times. yeah and i still cannot get comfortable in drivers seat. this was noted in a major consumers mag. other than this and the rattle, excellent car.

Owned a Jetta before. This Corolla is a beauty!! Not much to complain, except for that dashboard gap above the radio/CD, occassional dashboard rattling noise & occasional brake noise when backing up in the morning. Other than that, it's a terrific car!!!

This is my first Toyota and I am very impressed. I have driven Honda's for many years and just wanted a change. The gas mileage is terrific, usually about 38-39 highway and 30 around town with the automatic transmission. It's quiet, roomy and very well put together. Also there is no timing belt to change like on the Honda's and a stainless steel exhaust system. These 2 items alone represent a considerable savings.

i bought my 2003 corolla two years ago. i already put almost 50,000 miles on it!!! it's a great commuter car for the budget-minded. it gets awesome gas mileage and is mechanically refined. the only problems that i've had is that the interior dashboard is flooded with annoying buzzes and rattles. also, mediocre handling. i highly suggest anti-lock breaks. i regret not getting them.

Outstanding fuel economy! It's not unusual to get 40+ mpg even while running A/C. Even though the car is small, it has very good manners on the highway, and is remarkably comfortable, even after a long drive. It's always nice and quiet without feeling too many bumps. I do alot of highway driving and I am still surprised by its comfort on the road! One more thing that is quite incredible...it starts every time you turn the key!!! Fantastic reliability!

I bought the 2003 corolla S when it first came out. I have had 0 trouble with the car and love it. Gets great gas milage and you can even get a supercharger for the 03-04 model. I have drove it from california to new mexico back and forth 2 times and ran into 0 issues. The only minor problem i had was orange peal on the side of the body and the alloy wheels would started to rust.

I bought my 2003 Corolla S a little over a year ago from Lustine in Woodbridge VA(do not recommend anyone going there.My experience buying this car was absolutely horrible)I will never buy a car from them again!! Anyway,other than that I've only had a few minor issues with my car.Within the first few months the screws on the driver side visor came loose.Also the dash rattles.The brake pedal squeeks.The driver side automatic windows clicked when rolling down.I have taken it to Lustine several times to fix these problems and they still havent fixed a few things.Guess that has to do with the dealership.

After owning the vehicle for just over a year, it has met or exceeded all expectations. No problems and just a great all 'round car- offers no logical reason to buy something more expensive. Engine is strong through the rev range and works exceptionally well with the automatic transmission. Handling is very good as is ride and noise control- although there can be a bit of wind noise on the highway. Lots of interior space and quite comfortable. Gas mileage reached 41 mpg -hwy. Car is far superior to my '97 Protege. Even after driving the well reviewed Mazda 3, I feel it still has an edge in many areas.

Don't get me wrong,I love my Corolla.I had owned a '99 Corolla.When I based my first opinion of my current car, it was against that car. I've had the car for nearly two years. The gas mileage is excellent.The car is smooth in high speeds. On tight turns, the feel is uneasy,like it's leaning away from the turn.I would have liked a little brighter headlights at night.On a lightless country road, the changing from regular headlights to high beams is annnoying.(especially with oncoming traffic) A more powerful engine would have been better.

I couldn't really ask for more in a first new car. At almost 10,000 miles I have yet to have a single problem...knock on wood! I get many positive comments from people on the exterior looks. The interior white gauges on black interior is beautiful. The interior is very spacious, especially the back seat. Much more comfortable interior than the Civic or Jetta. Have had inconsistant mileage, as only real complaint, varying from low 20's to upper 30's depending on weather here in upstate New York.

I bought a 2003 LE in May 2003 and sold in Feb. 2004. This was one of the worst car buying/ownership experiences of my life. First, the dealership (Planet Toyota) used the "old fashioned" tactics to sell the car-- you know the "let me see what my manager says..." deal. Secondly, the car is not fun to drive, rides poorly, looks like every other car and is not very comfortable. Lastly, the people at Toyota Financial are very unfriendly, rude and elitest--they really need to humble themselves. Luckily I was able to sell it for a good price. I would NEVER buy anything Toyota again. You should look at anything else--DON'T BUY A TOYOTA!

This is my third Corolla and was a replacement for my 97 Camry (crashed, RIP). The acceleration is good and better than my old Camry. I have been getting anywhere from 28.5 to 31 MPG with mostly freeway driving. I did get almost 42 MPG on a long roadtrip from Calif. to Washington state and back. Hopefully, I will get the same kind of durability like my other two Corollas (over 240K miles).

I just got this car used with 6,726 miles on it for 13.6k which I think was a lot, but the dealer said it was a demo car so no one owned before me. I like the fact that it runs so smooth and picks up speed..sometimes a little too much. I don't even realize it sometimes and I'm going 60mph on a residential street. I wish I had power doors and locks, but the CD player is pretty good. I also get that rotten egg smell at times which I think is very unpleasant and Toyota needs to fix that problem. Everyone I know likes it and says it has more power than they thought. I had a 1989 Honda Accord before and I loved it, but I think Toyota is pretty good too.

At 6'2" and 220 lbs, I needed a car I could easily get into after back surgery. I was even able to sit in the rear seat with comfort. The Sporty, European look (without the Americanized sports trim) is cleaner. What will a rear air foil, etc., really accomplish ??? The engine is very quick and merges with ease during highway driving. And... this little beauty handles like it's on rails, in part, due to the front and rear anti- sway bars. Economy... It gets 34 mpg, city. I Love It!

I have owned the 03 Corolla Sport for about 1.5 years. We have put about 20,000 miles on the car. Overall, I really like this car. I love the style and the ride. I marked a 9 for fuel economy because I don't think we ever get the listed mileage - but when does that every happen? I gave it lower marks on interior design and comfort because of the position of the steering wheel. I feel like I am sitting too close to the wheel, but if I move further back, I can't reach the pedals. The other thing that I don't like is the ground effects make it impossible to change your own oil.

I found this car to be easier to get in an out of, roomier, quieter and all around more comfortable than my friend's 1998 model. Lots more 'cubby space' too; self maintenance like oil changes and brakes are quick and easy; handling respondes with how the car is being driven, the tighter and faster a turn the tighter the steering becomes; independant 4 wheel suspension makes for a very smooth ride over bumps and poor roads, and doesn't fell like you're driving you're mother's buick; the sporty look comes packed with a powerful sound system, alloy rims (NOT rim covers) and sharp looking black interior.

Love the car except for only one item. Poor steering wheel placement. My knees hit the wheel if I have to break as it does not adjust out to the driver. It is also a very small steering wheel. What was Toyota thinking about? I bought the car as I was in love with the fuel economy and reliability. Now I am not sure it was worth it.

Bought the Corolla merely on name and reliability... For me it was a mistake! I get 34 around and around 38- 40 on hway. Now, for the cons... The engine is quite spunky, but merging onto highways is nearly impossible and not without heavy lagging. The shocks and struts are terrible. I feel every bump in the car. The seats are extremely uncomfortable for any person over 5'0" and 130 lbs. I weigh 200 and am 6' tall. Never comfortable. Radio design is not natural and hard to reach. Cruise control should be part of steering wheel, not an extra lever easily debunked. Overall, great looking and gets good mileage, but uncomfortable and lacks stability...

This is absolutely great and fun car to drive! Exterior is beautifully designed especially with the sports package... A trip from LA back to Bay Area was effortless. Nice Audio system... However, the car visted the dealership for more than three times in the first year. The rubber molding on the top of the car shrunk and flooded the car ceiling. The celling and side pillar had to be replaced as algae started growing in the car!!! Rear seatbelt for the right rear passenger always disappeared into the bottom of the car. Battery had to be replaced once. Lots of blindspots especially in left front and rear right. Lousy sunshade design.

Very dissaponting quality of interior parts. 14 days spent since Purchase date. Do not buy cars made in California. Interior buzzes will drive u crazy. Recently right front door developed new ratteles and buzzes. This is my 4th toyota and definitly the last one.Toyota quality definitly took a nose dive. I was having trouble with my honda accord and I got tired of putting money into this car and I am so glad that the dealership talked me into getting a corolla because this is the best car that I have driven I love the color and the body style of the car and it is built like that of the camary and I heard people say that this corolla is a baby camary

After 6 months of ownership, I have to say that I am not completely pleased with my 2003 Corolla S. First of all, the gas mileage rating of 31 city/39 highway is greatly over stated. To date, I have averaged only 29mpg. I drive about 60% highway. Also, the drivers seat is very uncomfortable as many others have stated. In addition, the dash buzzes very loudly in 3 different areas. And to buyers of the S version, be prepared to replace the front end ground effects often.

I love my corrolla ~ It is comfortable and roomy for myself, husband and two kids! We also have enough room for the stroller and stuff you have to drag around when you have kids in the trunk.

I bought this corolla because I got into an accident with my 2000 corolla. Although my old corolla had only 50,000 miles on it, I had to have the 2003 model because it was so nice. I love my car and I love to drive it everywhere. Now that it had 22,000 miles on it I just can't stop. What can i say I love my car.

I've had this car for 4 months, and have no major complaints. Its got a very smooth ride, but could use some more oomph when accelerating from 20 mph on a highway entrance ramp to go to 60 mph. I've consistantly been getting 40-44 mph. I do miss my '91 Mazda 626 2.2L 5-speed, especially its acceleration. I do realize I'm dropping down a bit in engine size. All-in all I'm very satisied with my new Toyota!

We had had our Corolla now for 3 months and have used it for three long trips of over 400 miles. The mileage was great at about 36+ miles per gallon at upward average speeds of between 70-80 mph. It is very zippy and has a good burst of energy to pass slower vehicles. A true value and worth the money.

I would recommend this car to everyone. It would benefit from some minor improvements (see below) and I wish it came as wagon. Very good driving experience. Also the car attract attention.
