Customer Service: 5.0 Quality Of Work: 5.0 Friendliness: 5.0 Overall Experience: 5.0

We shopped for a luxury SUV- narrowed down the choices to an Acura MDX/ Lexus Rx350/ Volvo XC90/Mercedes .We finally decided on the lexus despite the highest price given the smooth ride, overall comfort feel and very high satisfaction ratings from buyers. Then came the part of buying. We used a number of online sources to inquire and we had 3 dealer choices, Metro Lexus and Lexus of Akron-Canton who had the best prices. We went with Akron Lexus because of the ratings and were very happy with our experience of the overall buying, and more importantly, the actual signing process. Peter Spacagna, the general manager is probably the best car person we have met in a long time. He was honest and genuinely cares about both his employees and his customers. People of this nature are very rare in most professions and definitely in the car business. He is truly a role model for his peers.Greg, the sales rep was very professional, gave enough space for my wife and me to make our decision. On the day of the delivery, he came back on his off day to make sure that the whole process went smoothly and this is most appreciated. Finally, we would be remiss if we did not mention the highly professional and efficient process for the actual processing. We were buying the car and instead of previous experiences, when after we picked the car and fixed the price, the process of add ons start- extended warranty, maintenance plan, tire protection, paint protection, seat protection etc etc. Jonathan had all the papers drawn up, in a very objective manner talked about potential add ons, and when we declined them, did not make any judgement about it and we signed and left. This was one of the best parts of the buying experiences. Every time we bought a car, we always had to resist these add ons, not this timeTruly an outstanding dealership.

This is my second Lexus SUV. Reliable. Purchased used with higher mileage. Have had no repair issues just basic maintenance like oil changes. My SUV is now 11 years old but looks new and rides like new. We get compliments frequently. Stylish and luxury at is best. Planning to buy my third Lexus SUV soon.

Got this GX-470 2003 back on 04/2003, fully loaded. Since then visited dealer once for turning signal light bulb (got replaced for free even after warranty expiration). Other than that - only scheduled maintenance. Never drove anything better than this (including x5/3.0-2007) before or after. Few days ago my daughter got hit by Civic into passenger side on a street (35 mph, at the time of impact even slower for both cars). My GX fell on driver's side, total loss. My girl landed on asphalt through drivers window under my GX, covered by broken glass, cut her left arm and elbow. Her passenger bumped her head. All bags in my GX are intact. WHAT IS SAFETY?

I've driven this SUV for over 6 years and its the best car I've owned. Service is excellent (especially the Naperville dealer) and the SUV has the best fit and finish of any car I've driven (including Mercedes and Porsche). It continues to drive smoothly after 85K miles. I hope to have it for 200K+.

Purchased my first Lexus from my BFF; GX is 5 years old with 35K miles; interior is in excellent shape, has held up well to 2 kids. Love the comfort selection option, comfort- sport. I have yet to find anything I don't love about this vehicle. There is very little road noise; feature options are excellent; and the sunroof doesn't leak (like in other vehicles we've owned). The rumble seats take getting used to - but easy to pop-up or put-down.

Very boring SUV. Its quiet and smooth and reliable but not for people who like to drive. And its good offroad! And without KDSS (additional option) the truck isn't very stable. And to top it off it loses a lot of market value.

I previously had a Navigator and a 2003 Range Rover. After major expensive problems with the RR, I wanted a SUV that was reliable and with the same luxury as the RR. I decided on the GX470 because I am previously a Lexus owner. So I know the quality and the performance of the Lexus. It's not as big as the full size SUV but it is not as small either. It was perfect for what I was looking for.

Traded a Honda Pilot for the GX. Looks bigger than the Pilot, but its not on the inside, especially the 3rd row seat. Build quality is great. More like a truck than the Pilot, which I like-better 4 wheel drive system. Overall, very nice vehicle and I will buy a Lexus again.

We have only owned it for a week, but we can't get enough of it! It is by far the most quality vehicle we ever owned, and blows away the 5 SUVs we've had in the past. It is such a smooth ride, the interior amenities are great. You truly feel "different" when you drive this car. Even though it is 3 years old, it looks and feels brand new. Sorry, I have to make this quick so I can go back and drive it somewhere... anywhere.

I'm a confirmed sedan gal, so imagine my surprise at how much I LOVE this SUV!It's quiet (more quiet than my previous E320 sedan),luxurious, and great looking.I don't have the ML stereo or navigation system and don't miss either. It's not without weak points: the way the 3rd row seats fold and stow looks amateurish compared to integrated ones in the Expedition, and the "gate" door has taken some getting used to (especially since it opens away from the curb).Yes, it's expensive, however; Lexus reliability is a given and the service is 2nd to NONE.You can't say that about many car makers. You definitely get what you pay for with this vehicle.

I moved from a Mercedes E class to an SUV. Bought this after looking at other mid-size SUVs (wanted a 3rd row). Came down to this and the Acura MDX. No comparison in the comfort, despite Acura's very high reviews. This drives more like a truck, but it is smooth as a Lincoln in there and VERY comfortable. Nearly silent on the hwy. Note: when the rear seats are folded up, there are definite blind spots, as they block the rear side windows, so be cautious.

I traded in my RX300, because I needed more room, and a third row seat...I really liked my RX, and thought it drove very well...I never expected to like the GX 470 as much as I do...it is head and shoulders better than the RX, I love driving it, and get lots of second looks, have caught more people than I can count peering in, and commenting how nice it was. Drives like a dream...can't think of any other SUV on the road that I would prefer...Love the LX, and this is just a smaller version.

I love this truck!!! When I 1st saw the GX I was like I have to check this car out. I wasn't sold on the size at first because I wanted a large SUV, like an Escalade, Navigator or Yukon, but I couldn't resist the GX. It has the larger Suv's beat in Luxuary. IUt rides excellant, although it could have more horse power, come on Lexus designers, this SUV should not lag in that dept while beating the competition is other areas. Overall I love this truck, but my biggest complaint is that it can get pricy.

everything about the car is great. except that the size of the gas tank is too small so you often have to go to the gas station to fill up. it only averages 300 miles on a full tank. also, it lacks power. car is very smooth and rides nice but it does not have enough acceleration for 4.7 liter 8 cyliner vehicle. other than this, everything is great and i enjoy driving the car.

We drove several luxury cars and SUV's before purchasing the Lexus GX470. When it comes to true luxury you have to go with Lexus. I have found nothing that I didn't like about this SUV. The only negative would be the price but it's well worth it!!!

So far so good. The GX470 has a great look, and even better performance. Smooth quiet ride and surprisingly easy to manuever thru city traffic. The only glitch I have found is the mirrors tend "forget" the drivers side memory when taking the car out of reverse.

I am quite pleased with GX 470 I purchased in late July. My Blizzard Pearl GX has turned several heads. I haven't seen this clor as of yet on the road or at any other local dealerships as of yet. However, I plan to trade in my 2003 for a 2004 because I just can't live with the after market installed DVD system. I will definately get the factory DVD this time. The current system doesn't take full advantage of the factory installed features like the Mark Levenson system or the factory installed system integration. The backup camera in the 2004 will be a blessing.

This is the best SUV I had drive, I've test drive the MDX, ML320, FX45, before buying the GX470. This SUV is very smooth, quiet, and powerful, and the quality is the best compare to other SUV's company. Recently, I have checked the J.D. Power wed site about the GX470 rating, and I believe they have made a big mistake in rating this automobile or the people that do the evaulation did do it right! So, don't believe every thing you read or see.

My wife loves the barn door, its her car, but come on Japan, you didn't research the barn door enough. It is completly unpractical for America/Americans - you should only offer it in other countries. I can give you 20 plus examples why it is a poor design. The salesman said it was for saftey, I just laughed and said it was the biggest line of BS a guy has ever said to my face. If you can get over the BARNDOOR, this car offer sooo much more than all the competitors, the MB looks like a minivan/mailvan, the BMW doesn't even compare (it does in my opinion have the best rear door, Bring back the tailgate!!!!!!!) and the Volvo is an underpowered joke.

Bought the GX after looking at the Cayenne and the BMW. Better deal for the money; quality is better. Ride is stiff over heavy bumps in the rear, but the ride and cabin quiet is typical Lexus excellent quality. Engine is adequate for the vehicle; interior appointments are high quality. The rear door looks goofy and is impractical, particularly when towing our trailer. Stereo is excellent, and the nav system is very well-designed and easy to use. I like the size of the shifter, but there should be more of a gate between D and 4. Overall it's a great vehicle; great size, good power, great quality.

Almost bought a ML500, glad we didn't! Dealership experience was good -- no high pressure, only professional salesmanship. Car is REALLY comfortable fun to drive! Killer navi system -- voice input and touch screen features are awesome compare to ML500's little joy stick thingy. Not too cracy about the swing-out back door at first, but actually like it now since we only use the 3rd roll seat for 1 person (my teenage kid) and he uses the back door for access so that he doesn't have to mess with the 2nd roll seat.

Of all the cars and SUV's I have ever had in the 32 years I have been driving, this car is the ultimate. I have had no trouble whatsover with it. It is fast off the line and rides wonderful! I love the exterior design and the original rear end design, looks so sporty! To think the BMW suv is 15,000.00 more that this!

Comparing the MDX, ML500, BMW, the GX470 is without a doubt the most luxurious of the SUVs. An outstanding value considering what you get. Lexus packages limited options because it already has most options you would expect. Although the ML500 has better acceleration, the reliability is questionable. The Lexus quality is what won me over.

Well, I wrote a review of my GX470 after only a couple of weeks and I was not very kind in my remarks. We have since driven the car on a couple of long trips as well as city stop and go traffic and I must admit, the car has proven me wrong! I love this vehicle and my wife does even more so. I took it in for routine maintenance and they gave me an RX300 as a loaner. I was so surprised at the difference. It made me even happier that we had chosen the GX470. It wasn't even a close contest. If you buy the GX, drive it a while before passing judgement. The pluses far outweigh the minuses! We're hooked!

Researched SUV's for months before deciding to purchase the GX 470. This SUV fills a void in the market for larger SUVs priced below $60K. Outstanding to drive with extremely comfortable ride. Overall, overly pleased with purchase, would highly recommend test driving.

The GX 470 is easily the best driving, best handling SUV we have owned. However, there is a vibration in the steering wheel (even noted in the NY Times of 7/6/03. Also loud wind noise drowns out classical music at 60MPH. Interior is great, GPS finds places you could never drive to yourself.

Our first Lexus and I'll have to say, I've never been so dissappointed with an automobile. Transmission seems to slip on occassion and it takes bumps a lot harder than I assumed it would. When driving at low speeds up to about 50, it seems to be a little "jerky", for lack of a better term; almost as though it was shifting back and forth between gears. I would difinately test drive one and concentrate on the ride and not get so caught up in the luxurious interior and all of the whistles and bells. The automobile is beautiful inside and out. I just wish the performance matched the beauty. If I were to base Lexus on this GX470; I would never buy another one.

My new Lexus GX-470 is an amazing automobile to drive and own. It was purchased 1 month ago. I have driven a Lincoln Nav. for the past 4 years as well as a complete test, or comparison of the new Aviator. Although it is not fair to compare the GX-470 to a Nav., I found that in my complete comparison with the Aviator, among other SUV's, driving the Lexus, in all modes, was like riding on air, not to mention the silence inside while in operation. It is extremely difficult to tell if the GX's motor is engaged, as there is no residual noise whatsoever. Although it is an SUV, it rides more like a luxury car. It is an amazing driving experience.

Major problem for me with the GVWR recall which cost me big bucks. I wouldn’t put much stock in Lexus claims of customer satisfaction or service if the problem is substantial. Even a small item took a trip to the dealership to resolve. Voice recognition is poor. Basic air and sound controls is cumbersome. Navigation system is easy to use, with very intuitive programming. The premium sound system if excellent. Limited storage for small items. Dealer service failed to reset the service notice button. During a trip an emergency notice come on saying we needed repair service, and should contact the dealer immediately. That was a bit troubling, until

After shopping around for months for the ultimate Luxury Utility Vehicle, I came to the conclusion that the new Lexus GX 470 is it for me. I wanted to enjoy the well-known advantages of owning a Lexus including the award- winning customer satisfaction and high resale value but I didn't want just another one of the tens of thousands of RX 300's and the LX 470, while truly exceptional in just about every way, did not seem worth the extra $20,000. Driving down curvy mountain roads near Sedona in the GX 470 was as exciting and thrilling as downhill skiing!

My wife and I decided to trade in our suburban. We looked at several SUV's, including a fully loaded Suburban, but as soon as we drove the GX we knew that it was just a matter of color. This SUV provides as quite and smooth a ride as our Lexus GS sedan. It was much better than the Suburban or Lincoln Navigator. My family of 5 easily fits into the GX with room to spare. So, if you can give up the room of the Suburban, I highly recommend the GX.

You'd feel comfort, luxury and safety once you get on driver's seat. You sense you're surrounded by a solid, protective shield . . and that you are in for a smooth, powerful yet quiet ride. This was how I felt when I test drove the GX 47. (I rated it better compared to similar test drive with MB ML, 320 and 500). But back to my GX 470. The actual driving experience proved even more exhilirating. I have never felt so cool driving 400 miles each way ever. Why? Driving 70-75 mph was a breeze and accelerating to pass those semis was no sweat. The GX 490 is indeed my best driving experience ever.

What a great car. Already own an LS and thought the GX would be a great addition. As usual, the car is a great Lexus product, but they should have continued the thought process on the last 6 feet of this vehicle. The rear door is terrible. The way that you have to manually lift up the third row seats is something you would find in a $10,000.00 SUV. The head rests are so big, you can't recline them and move the seats behind. Using a strap to hold the third row seats up is also a bit cheap, inconvenient and un- imaginative. Come on Lexus, you have an absolute 10 if you would fix these problems. Everything else, perfect!!

The Nav must be the best on the market.Loaded with features and all of them are easy to operate. The Mark Levinson system sounds amazing. Controlling it from the steering wheel makes it very easy to use. Cruising at 70-75 the engine is very quite with an MPG of around 19.

Many SUV/LUVs to choose from, but this one is the most practical car for my family. Already spoiled by the lexus luxury ride and comfort of my 98'ES, we could not settle on X5 or MDX. I found X5 to be a stylish fun car to drive but way behind the GX's silky ride comfort and space. MDX being a good value SUV but lacks the luxury that Lexus provides. GX is a magnificient blend of luxury and utility accompanied by unsurpassed Lexus customer service, and proven reliability, engineering and technology. It simply works great for my daily use as well as family vacation trips.

The GX 470 is a completely better SUV all around compare to the ML 320, it behave very well for such a large vehicle. Smooth engine, quite interior and very well built vehicle, if you are in the market for a luxury SUV, give the GX 470 a try. You will like it. Dealers begin to discount now, so shop around and enjoy your new toy. I got a great deal from Lexus of Thousand Oaks ( I got a fully loaded one for way below the MSRP )

Driving this car is like piloting a cloud. Incredible ride - very quiet and very smooth! The 3rd row seating is a bit of a joke though. I'm only 5'7" and I couldn't bare to sit back there for more than 10 minutes. There's no way you could get 3 adults back there comfortably. Plenty of room on the 2nd row of seats, so much so that they should have moved those forward 3 inches to give the 3rd row more room. The Radio controls kinda suck since they put many of them on the video display screen which takes a long time to navigate, and a lot of attention which would be better spent driving.

Overall this is a great vehicle. It's styling and performance make up for the swing gate rear door. Why did Lexus downgrade from the 4runner lift gate. You can't open the swing gate when you pull a boat nor does it shelter the stroller when it's raining. We have been surprised with the gas mileage; we're getting about 17 in the city. The 3rd row seating really isn't practical except maybe for kids 5-10. Does the vehicle height increase the likelihood of a rollover? I saw a report that the GX has a lower center of gravity than the 4runner and the stability control should help the driver recover control.

I replaced an RX 300 with this SUV and it is far superior in luxury and utility (no SUV I've ever been in rides like the RX, though). Even my 5'2" wife loves this car. After only 2 GX test drives, reading reviews on Edmunds and ClubLexus.com - I was sold! Also considered Volvo XC90 and BMW X5 and was turned off in that process. Volvo- disappointed by the interior quality and general station wagon feel. BMW - was not big enough and can only rely on its performance oriented characteristics which were not outstanding with the 3.0. Finally, after my wife was SO impressed with the test drive (concerned by SUV gas mileage) and said - "this is NIIIICE". We were sold. Had it only about 48 hrs. but really love the new addition to our family. Even our 2 yr old daughter said "nice car" after sitting in it.

In the SUV market that becomes more croweded every day, distinction can be difficult. Not so for the GX 470. The sheer pleasure of hearing the doors close tells you that this vehicle is built with such attention to detail that the rest of the car must be solid. If there is a down side, the back door opening to the side is a bit of a pain (what were they thinking?) Other that that it is stellar. I purchased the long awaited model GX 470 on February 6th 2003. This is my fourth Lexus purchase. Due to the poor availability for test driving, I did not realize until after the purchase an unacceptable vibration in the 40-50 mph range. After taking the vehicle back for service twice, I have been informed that it is a known problem with this model but there is no fix at this time. Totally unacceptable for a luxury SUV that boasts a noise/vibration free ride. Lemon law currently being exercised.

We drove all the SUV's out there... the only "close" call was the BMW X5, great car, not practical with two kids and golden retriever! We drive Porsche's and BMW's as primary vehicles which have a tight concise ride. The Lexus has it too. We bought the base model and had the DVD installed in the head rest via after market... a better way to go. Incredibly built with great power. Extremely comfortable with tons of space and torque to handle any load. Great family vehicle that's a pleasure to drive. Quiet, quiet and more quiet with all the electronics you can hope for.

After 4 years of my RX300, I decided to get the GX470. I love it! Silky, strong engine, smooth ride and great comfort! The navigation system is the best I've seen. While I think the GX470 is fantastic, there are a few things Lexus should change: My RX300 has more cubbies/storage places! Seat warmer controls are too out of the way. Trip computer buttons should be on the steering wheel (they have two blank spots) instead of mid-dash where they are inconvenient. Major pet peeve -- the seat belt retractors are typical Lexus -- they don't retract well!

Great Luxary SUV for the price. Easily justifies the MSRP compared to much higher priced LX470. Drive comparable to luxary sedan (traded Mercedes Benz in for GX470), AWD feature with center locking differential makes it perfect in any driving condition. Lexus DVD based GPS Navigation system is way superior over MB.

Our family just bought a brand new black GX 470 - fully loaded. We love it. The comfort is more than we could have ever asked for and the ride....you might as well be on a plane, it feels like you are flying.

It drives like a Lexus sedan! Quiet and refined but fun as well. Nice pickup for such a big car especially off the line. An absolutely gorgeous interior. It's like getting the LX for 15K off.

I just purchased the GX and LOVE it. It is a mini LX with all the luxury and more. We purchased the fully loaded package with navigation and dvd, they are both wonderful! The car drives like a dream and you can actually park in a real parking spot with out a problem. LEXUS is one nice ride! It handles great. I don't know why anyone would choose the LX or any other luxury SUV. I tried to give the LX a shot, I just couldn't justify the 10K price difference for the same SUV that is only "inches" different. I also tried every other new and improved SUV on the market, the GX blows them all away....unless, of course, you don't need the luxury...then go for a truck.

I just got rid of my Acura MDX Touring. Paid over MSRP for it in 2001. The GX's interior is far superior to the MDX. The GX includes full sized lighted running boards, a full sized spare Bridgestone Dueller tires. Wood and leather steering wheel is std. The Dealer was very fair, and gave a nice discount. Purchased a std model with a rear spoiler, two seat for $3.5 K more than an MDX. This is a great SUV, but don't try to follow me off-road in your MDX, you wouldn't make it.

The Lexus GX is a fabulous SUV. The ride is exceedingly smooth and comfortable. The interior is beautifully designed. Everything, including a lot of cup holders, are where one would want things placed on the interior. The side opening back door is heaven sent for easy access to the cargo area. No more struggling to lift up heavy doors. The third row of seats are incredibly smooth and easy to put up and down. This is a great family car while treating the driver to a lot more driving fun than most SUV's will ever offer. And the new dark blue color that the GX is offered in, is a real head turner!

It's not quite perfect, but it's close. You'll like the ride and handling. Turning radius is much smaller than the RX300. For my taste, too many buttons to push since they use the navigation display for HVAC and Radio. Touch panel for everything is too distracting and inefficient. The back door swings WIDE. I believe the hinge is on the right side for parking lot use, but on the wrong side when street parking. It's tough to find a good place to mount the hand free telephone equipment so that it's easy to use yet not block other controls. Headlights work especially well when travelling down dark country roads. High beams really have a long throw.

The fuel economy is not great but as good as expected for this type of vehicle. If I wanted better gas mileage I would have bought a 3 cyl. Geo Metro. Power is good but not great. The engine puts out less horsepower but equivalent or better torque than the larger V8s. More power is always better, in my opinion.

Well our family just picked up the new GX470. so far i can say it is excellent. the ride is very smooth and the rear air suspension leveling system is fun to play with. we got it almost fully loaded, everything but the rear entertainment system. the dvd based navigation system is touch screen and makes it even more user friendly. the third row seat is a bit small for someone tall like me (6ft) but okay for small children riding. i really only have one problem with the car and that is that it is not offered with HID(High Intensity Discharge) lights. it would have made the car look even better.

Excellent all the way around. Test drove every other competitor. including Avaitor, Sequoia, Escalade, Yukon, MDX, Mercedes, BMW & Volvo. Lexux wins hands down. Comfort, luxury, fit & finish, and most importantly, my wife loves it! She loves the driver's visibility, and the fact that it drives like a car. I can change the setting to "sport" ride, and enjoy driving it my way too. What a great compromise. She hated the clunkiness of the Escalade & Yukon, and loves the smooth shifting & total confidence of the safethy features & driveability. We will treasure this vehicle for years to come. Finally, an SUV we both love.

The Lexus GX lists for 45,900.00 on the Lexus website and on the vehicle sticker. Edmunds lists the vehicle at 45,500.00. The dealerships just received one demo car fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. However, they are telling people that they Lexus is only going to send fully loaded vehicles to the dealerships. That means, you will have to live with options you don't really want like the $1,200 LexusLink. The service is free for one year and then you can either cancel the service or use it. You will however, be out of $1,200 because that is the cost of the unit. I think I'll go back to the Acura MDX where I do have some options.
