We bought our 2003 Kia Sedona last year. The previous owners (original owners) hardly drove it. The van only had 75K miles on it. We have put on 26K in one year! The car has been great for us. It's been all over the place because my husband travels a lot for work. It gets good highway gas mileage. We live in a rural area so it isn't so great for going from town to town. We haven't had any major issues at all. We are taking it in for general maintenance expected at 100K. Plugs, wires, etc. because it is running rough, but with the way we drive that's to be expected. I love the V6 - it really goes! I love this mini-van!

I bought my '03 Kia 2 years ago with 49k miles on it. I read good reviews, and it had such low miles I thought for sure I'd have it for a long time. Well 2 years later, it has 78,000 miles and it is breaking constant! Every month I have to bring it in to be fixed! At that mileage I shouldn't constantly be in the shop with it. Other cons are its tiny, puts a whole new perspective on "mini"van. Good luck putting anything in the trunk space. Also it has no trade in value at all. My vans exterior/interior is perfect, has lower mileage and I can't even get $1500 for trade. Trading it in tomorrow for a Honda Odyseey. Im so done with Kia's.They are sold cheap for a reason, you get what you pay for.

Despite spotty reviews, we bought our van in 2005 because of the safety ratings. I now feel sick that we wasted so much money on this vehicle! I drive very little so the mileage is still low and we kept up on maintenance. Despite that the power steering has had ongoing issues, no air conditioning, the power accessories don't work, the electrical system has issues, the drivers side window leaks, one exterior door handle doesn't work, the cheap foil covering the inside handles flake off and cut our fingers, and the transmission is now going out. Once we were driving and parts from the inside wheel started falling out and bouncing down the road. We have wasted thousands in repairs. Do not buy!

I do not like this van. It looks pretty. That is about the only good thing I can say. I am on disability. I have to have a realiable transportation. This van is not. The air in the back does not work. Both of the rear door handles have broken off. I called the dealer and it will cost almost $500 dollars for me to have them replaced. The shade is missing from the sunroof. Not including labor, $500. This is just to high cost repairs for a disabled person. When I buy another van or car, I will NEVER buy another kia. I have heard so many good things about this line. I have been very disappointed.

I've been driving my Kia Sedona for about 3 years now. I purchased it used and it's been pretty reliable and gets to where I'm going, but not comfortably. Like the others, the AC has never worked. My husband tried to put freon in it and it didn't work. The first 2 winters, the heat worked fine and now this year (coldest winter on record in our area) hot air only comes out of the rear heater and that doesn't really warm up the front even after it's been running for a while. The driver's door only opens from the outside because the inside handle broke. The driver side back door handle is broken on the outside. The sunroof leaks. Stay away. Not worth all the trouble!!!

All I can say is I spent over 20 grand for the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. Three sets of Rotors, power steering pump, rack, AC, heater, door handles, ball joints, and all the junky plastic interior. Of course I cant leave out the fact that to change 6 spark plugs it took me 6 hours to do so. Either that or pay a mechanic $800.00 bucks to do it since the back three are practically inaccessable Oh and one more thing. Metal anti freeze lines from front to back rusted out. Im thinking some type of plastic lies would be to easy to use. Bottom line is they knew what kinda junk they were building so we as consumers would have to rely on the incompitent mechanics at the dealerships

This has to have been the worst vehicle i have bought. Purchased 4/2/2010 with 52,000 miles. 40 days later I'm walking to work because engine blew and dealer wont fix it they blame me for changing the spark plugs. Before that in 3 weeks time it was in the shop 4 times first hub bearing went bad, then ac went out, then the van would just stall for no reason. They find nothing wrong. For people having this problem clean out the mass air flow sensor i found that out myself. Then a week later at 53,000 miles engine started knocking and smoking towed to the dealer and was told need new engine. Just the name KIA has lemon written all over it.Avoid the stress and steer clear. Very bad gas mileage.

I learned a valuable lesson about researching cars after owning this one. Safety without reliability is not safe. The alternator went out at 36k. I lost the ability to steer or accelerate on the freeway at night. The warning lights came on about 1 minute before the car failed so I was in the exit lane and luckily rolled straight off the freeway exit without power, and rolled into a gas station. Sure the warranty covered the repair and Kia towed it for free-but I was almost killed along with my unborn child, 2 other children and the babysitter in the car. Now the sliding doors won't open from inside, the AC compressor/clutch failed, electrical problems abound, and I can't give it away.

We bought the Sedona because my short wife could drive it very comfortably and it was very nice. Kia 100,000 mile guarantee took care of everything that came up including wheel bearings at 90,000 miles. Now we are having to get the AC fixed for a leak. The compressor is fine. We did replace an alternator and battery. We still love it.

Don't buy it.

Purchased used last year, with only 54K miles on it, so it still had some factory warranty left. The air conditioner failed within a week of purchase. It took 7 visits to the dealership over the summer because their air conditioner "fix" usually only last 1-2 days. Since then, the rear brake cylinders leaked (no brakes), the radiator has leaked badly, the power steering is stiff on cold mornings (bad power steering pump). Recently had the timing belt changed, and in the process they also changed a leaking hydrolic tensioner (extra $200) and then the air conditioner stopped working again the next day. Dealership claims they didn't brake it wants $1200 to replace the compressor.

I will never buy another Kia!

I have 3 children and buying a minivan seemed like the right idea. If i had only known that buying a Kia would put me in debt i would have never ever done it! Everything on the car is pretty much plastic. I have broke several door handles that are far from cheep to replace. Everything in the van squeeks. I have had to replace the compressor and the shocks in the back that lift the back door! I have sank way too much money in this vehicle to enjoy it.

If you really look around on the reviews of www.edmunds.com, you may have noticed that I have written a few on the kias. We love them all, this van is no different. Granted, this Sedona has had its problems. Since the purchase of the Kia van, we have had to; replace the altinator, replace wheel barring, needs a a coil fixed ($500) and its a gas gussler. I will be the first to admit that I am byist for Kias, I love them. This van is smooth riding, great comfort. Just the older Kias had their problems. Not the new ones though.

This last October, we bought a Kia Sedona in place of our totaled 02 Rio Cinco. We wanted something a little easier to get in and out of, so we chose this van. It is a great van, smooth riding, good visibility. The gas mileage is moderate, we have gotten 17 mpg, every time with city highway mix. But we did get 13 mpg once. But that is when winter attacked and we let the van warm up for about 15 min every morn. Plus there was no highway on that tank of gas. There is one thing that we need to get fixed, and the dealership cant seem to figure out what it is. There is a weird fan spirt noise every once and a while and it revved up. Only happens in about 40 - 70 mph. It is a mystery noise.

Well, the starter going within the first week should of been the sign. 5 yrs, 80,000 miles later I have 3 broken handles they will not fix for less than $500 apiece, the turning radius is like a box or truck, not like all the caravans I've had. I gave up 18" in the grand caravan and you really do miss it. I have gone thru numerous tires, so put GOOD tires on it. Gas mileage stinks! I bought it for the warranty but after 5 yrs the bumper to bumper is gone and now all the little problems are creeping up. Back seat doesn't slide, etc.

I bought my Kia used and immediately, (I do mean immediately) I had catalytic converter issues. Dealer fixed it. I then experienced the "check engine" light coming on when it had rained torrentially. Since this little mystery, I have had NO problems with my van. I do heartily recommend buying an extended warranty. I do not love this van but it does get me to work and hauls my dogs.

I found the Sedona very comfortable to drive. I liked the overall styling of it, but I wish it would have had a bigger trunk area for luggage or groceries. The gas mileage could be better, over 20 mpg would be nice. The Sedona handled very well on dry or wet roads and we haven't had any problems with it other than normal maintenance. The safety rating was a big factor in our decision to buy it and I would buy another.

I have had my Sedona EX for 3 years. There have been some superficial problems with the seats (plastic molding, squeaking) but the Kia warranty covered the repair of everything. The interior is comfortable and attractive with a sturdy seat fabric that has resisted any staining. The ride is fairly smooth, but road noise is a bit too pronounced. There is ample storage in the multiple compartments. I am at 43,000 miles and have not had any mechanical problems whatsoever. The turning radius is wide which can be problematic when making a U turn. But, I would still recommend the Sedona as a good value for a fair price.

We purchased this after comparing it to the Honda and Toyota. Dollar for dollar, it was just a better deal. I was worried about reliablity but after owning it since we purchased it new in 2003 and taking several family long distance vacations, I have never regretted my choice. I bought this for the wife to haul the kids, but when I'm home I opt to take the Kia over my Honda because of how comfortable it is to drive. The fit and finish on the interior is top notch. (I have the EX with leather) and the power to pass is excellent.

Bought a Kia Sedona new 3 years ago, have taken it in for repairs 15 times, dealer and Kia don't listen to their customers and the minute you hit 60,000 miles you pay for repairs and most parts can only be found at dealer! I want others to beware of the continuous problems they face when buying a KIA. They sell for a low cost, but you need to be prepared to have your vehicle out of commission several times per year without warning.

It appears that KIA products are good for about 45,000 miles. After that quality significantly falls off. At 45,000 miles I had a $1,000 scheduled maintenance bill at the dealer. My KIA Sedona died of terminal engine failure at 79,000 miles. KIA says they are not responsible for the repair. So much for the long haul warranty. Needless to say I will never purchase a KIA or Hyundai brand product ever again, and I will tell everyone I know about my experience with KIA "no service" Even other auto makers call the KIA's throw away cars because their resell value is next to nothing after just a few years. Mark my words you will be sorry for the day you ever bought a KIA or a Hyundai.

I believe I reviewed this car back when I bought it 3 years ago. We still like it. When all of the seats are in there isn't much space, but I typically only need one of the back seats in, so we have plenty of space. It's very comfortable, even on a trip. I have heard lots of complaints about road noise and vibrations which I never notice because I am too busy listening to the radio . We have been back to the dealer a few times for for some annoying little things like broken cup holders and a seatbelt sensor that stopped working (the seat belt worked fine). We drive the van pretty hard I have replaced two tires, but brakes, spark plugs, etc. are still going strong.

I bought the 2003 Kia Sedona in November 2003 and was happy with the interior specs it provided. Other than that, I have been very unhappy with this car. It has been in the dealership service department on an average of every 4-5 months since I bought it. Beware of this car! Below is a list of the problems I have had. Thank goodness they have a good warranty. I will get rid of this car as soon as the warranty runs out. Problems: speedometer broke; back heater did not work; rear defrost strips peeled off; rear power outlets did not work; alternator went; battery was replaced; front defrost broken; power steering went; power driver seat broken; fuse box cover broken; remote entry sloppy.

Owned since September 2003 and have put 42,000 miles on it. The only time it's been back to the dealership is for the 2 recalls. We don't baby our Sedona either. We regularly take trips of 400 miles (each way) towing a 2500 lb trailer, with a cargo carrier mounted to the roof rack. It's a little sluggish going up mountain passes fully loaded and towing, but that is to be expected. Swapped oil in engine and tranny to full synthetic after 15,000 miles and picked up 3-5 mpg on the highway. This van has never failed us, even in -30 degree weather. The only thing I dislike is that it has too much low end power when driving on ice, even with studded tires. Very easy to spin the tires on ice!

Drives well. But if you ever have to take it in for service, you're in trouble. The dealership can't do anything under warranty with out an OK from KIA. Will try any excuse to avoid doing work free warranty work. The factory demands that you maintain the van using the severe maintenance schedule no matter how you use your van. Factory Reps are available but they rule supreme ... told me a transmission chatter [tranny can't decide which gear to put itself in on a down-shift at 1500RPMs and about 40 MPH] that I have is normal operation if I use the overdrive in the city. Their suggested bypass is to drive in town with overdrive off and at about 5k RPMs higher. Just cost me more with poorer MPG

I researched minivans for 6 months prior to buying a Sedona. I really wanted a van that would last me for several years. We purchased our van from the dealer in Feb. 2004. Our problems began about 6 months later. It started randomly locking its doors. My husband was locked out once with it running and had to run home 3 miles to get the spare key. The air conditioning would every once and awhile turn hot and the car would randomly not start. They replaced the computer chip for the locking mechanism, the alternator, and the radio (it would also randomly go on and off). I have had the vehicle serviced under warranty issues approx. 7 times since Dec 2004. I am frustrated with this vehicle.

1st two months of ownership van was in dealer's shop 4 times. Right window would stick midway up. One lube, two motors, one passenger side switch replaced. Next bubbling in paint under side windows and rust under rear logo. At 2 years 3 months and 28000 miles the alternator failed and battery died. Two weeks later going on a trip van overheated and left us stranded on side of road. Towed to dealer and they claimed upper radiator hose clamp came loose and hose came off? Poor quality control and workmanship. Never again.

The South Koreans have nearly hit a homerun with this one! Good build quality, fit-and-finish, looks, comfort, and rock solid value all make the Sedona minivan a good choice for today's families. There are just a couple of refinement issues, but they are negligible. The one thing that DOES suck, though, is the mileage. You're doing well if you get 22 mpg on the highway, cruising at a constant speed on flat land. Trouble is, we have LOTS of hills/valleys here in Cincinnati, so mileage here tends to be awful - normally around 15 mpg in the city. The 3.5-liter V6 has plenty of power to get us up those really steep hills, but it's a thirsty engine. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my van.

We have an EX fully loaded. We use it for long distance travel only because we take a lot of trips that are over 500 miles or more. You said gas mil. is bad, but traveling on the highway at 65 to 75 mph, we get at least 25 mpg We never really use it for city driving. What made us choose this type of van was the seats were more comfortable than other vans we tried ( we have leather) and the road side assistance / 5 year-100000 mile warranty can't be beat. Besides I think it is a better looking minivan than Honda, Dodge or Ford. It does ride heavy, but it rides smooth and is a very quiet vehicle.

We have 4 kids (including a newborn in a carseat), 3 boys into soccer and we love this van. I agree, they could make the seats easier to remove/reinstall, and the exterior does dent easily. I have no problems with the AC being too noisy though. Only problem we had was the brakes went out when I was 7 months pregnant, but Kia sent roadside assistance and towed us, free-of-charge to the dealership, fixed it for free. It was a faulty chip in the ABS. Wish there was more headroom in the 3rd row. But overall, this has been a wonderful minivan for the cost. I could not justify blowing $35K+ on a higher- scale minivan. Great van for the price. We're going to trade up soon to the EX.

The KIA van runs great, however it has been in the shop for 2 months due to an airbag light that was on. The dash and components were completely disassembled and a new wiring harness was installed. I picked up the car and the problems was still not fixed; the technician didn't even bother to test drive the van. I was really disappointed at the poor quality of work from the service dept. at Folsom Lake Kia. Now the shift mechanism and the interior lights won't work correctly. Kia corporate has been monitoring our situation, these guys seem to care very much how I'm treated and have offered to help. I'll report back later when we find out how we will be compensated for our loss of use.

This is a long-term followup on our second Sedona. We rode the first for over 55000 miles until it was totaled in a freak accident at the dealership (broadsided by a runaway towtruck while in for an oil change). Our first sedona was bought right off the truck shortly after introduction, the second one sold in Tulsa. In it's 55000 mile life, had to replace the radio (failed within two weeks), fix the lumbar support switch (wires were a tad too short - did it myself) and that's it. Period. Had absolutely no hesitation in buying another one (dealer made us the offer we couldn't refuse). Have had NO warranty issues with this one either, now with about 33000 on the clock.

This summer, with three adults on board, we enjoyed a 3,500 mile trip pulling a very large, two- axle, tent trailer. The power was amazing. We could pass slower vehicles going up hill. Gas consumption for this trip was good. 17 mpg. The vehicle is very comfortable on long trips.

We have owned our Sedona for just over 10 months now and we are very happy with it. We've had a few little things happen (the cup holder wasn't working right) but that is all. I would say that the Sedona is more truck like than car like. For example, cornering, fuel economy, ease of handling aren't all that great when you compare them to a car or car-like minivan, but if you compare them to a truck (why not, they are just as heavy), they seem about average. I feel this is a small trade- for the price (some people may even prefer the truck like feel). In order to pay the same price for comparable options we would have had to buy something 3-4 years old!

If it wasn't for those rear seats and the noisy air conditioning, I would keep this car. I can't stand fighting with those rear seats. They are super heavy (if no impossible) to remove and replace. I actually took it back to the dealer and made them put the seats back in. Even the sales guy couldn't do it. The air conditioning is super loud when the car is idling. Step on the gas just a little and the noise goes away. Come to a red light and the noise is louder than the radio. My next minivan will have fold away seats. I'm looking at the Odyssey or the Sienna. And the gas mileage is terrible. Maybe 15 city, 19 hwy.

We have owned our Sedona for 1.5 years and came very close to the Honda Odyssey but in the end went with what would suit our budget best. The van has been reliable and easily fits adults and carseats without crowding. We have had to use the warranty a few times and had to shop for a dealership/service dept who would accomodate the repairs without hassle. If you have time for the occassional repair of a power seat or heater fan then it is well worth the extra effort for the extra savings.

I mean, I have been back to the shop at least 12 times in just 6 months. Looks are deceiving. I thought I was purchasing a quality vehicle. What I got was a van-wanna-be. After only 5 months and 12,000 miles the front bumper paint was peeling in a number of places. Kia's response--everyday road debris caused it, so it's not covered under the warranty. I don't drive anywhere that a million other people drive, but because of "everyday road debris" it's not covered.I will mention that Ottawa Kia did re-paint the bumper at their expense which they did have to. And know I'm starting to have problems with the driver seat armrest not coming down! And gas mileage---IT STINKS! Highway driving gets me a whopping 16 MPG.

Already have 3600 miles on it and it is great so far, if I were to say anything outside of great it would be ride over very bumby highways as it is a bit rough, not much more than the Caravan we tested though. Lots of power, trans shifts good so far, mileage is fair and better than stated, about 17 city and 22 to 24 highway, actaully got 27 the 1st trip but had heck of a tail wind across Ohio which is flat so that is NOT to be expected as norm. Radio is fair, better than most stock systems on standard option but not a Bose system either! Overall, so far so good, will report when we hit 12000 miles or a year.

I have owned and driven hundreds of vehicles in 35 years of driving. I presently own a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado [150,000 miles], a Ford Taurus [100,000 miles], a Jeep Wrangler [80,000 mi, an XKE Jag [60,000 miles] and a 66 Austin Healey [57,000 miles]. This is the 1st vehicle that I have driven 20,000 miles without a single problem of any kind. The Chevrolet pickup was built like a tinker toy while the Sedona was built "like a rock." We have not had to return to the dealer for anything. I am so thrilled with the reliability of this vehicle that I am going to buy a Sorento this year. Chevrolet and Ford have a lot to learn from Kia.

You get a lot of bag for the buck.

We looked at the economy Chevy minivan and the LX Honda Odyssey and we still could not afford to buy them (even with a GM family discount). We needed a vehicle that could carry two children and ALL the stuff that goes with them. Once I read about the Sedona's crash testing and that it was affordable we decided to test drive one. It was perfect for what we needed. Finally, a company out there realized that there is a market for a affordable minivan for budget minded families. Thank you KIA.

IV'E HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND AM WELL PLEASED WITH ITS QUALITIES AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT,BOTH THE DEALER AND MECHANICLY.IT HAS ALL THE OPTIONS OF THE OTHER VANS BUT IS THOUSANDS* CHEEPER.

The only thing that really stinks is the gas milage. I had a Chrysler Town & Country before and I could drive forever, I get pittiful milage on this. But over all, two thumbs up!

I've only had my 2003 Sedona EX for a week but so far I love it! (I traded in my '96 Windstar) We couldn't beat the price/options/warranty on the Kia. It rides and drives very smoothly. I didn't know how many new features they've come out with since a '96 that I'd been driving! I don't mind sharing, for those who are still comparison shopping, that our total price incl. tax/title/tags etc was $20,300. (incl. $3000 total rebates) I have a sunroof and ABS, but no leather. So far, the gas mileage has been fine for me (I live in a semi-rural area without heavy traffic)

Paid $18,400 after rebates for my new 2003 Kia Sedona EX. Traded in a very problematic 1999 Ford Windstar. If you're looking for a new van, PLEASE go look into the Kia Sedona. It's 95% of a Sienna or Odyssey at 70% of the cost. Very comfortable, *excellent* fit and finish, good sound system, and a much more comfortable driving position than my old Windstar. To get an Odyssey at the same price, it would have to be 3 years old and have 50,000 miles on it. Transmission is extremely smooth. Each seat has its own AC/heat vents that can be directed and closed. BTW - My driver's seat also squeaked - fixed it with a thin coat of grease on the seat tracks.

Can't beat the options and value for the price. It doesn’t have all the luxuries like auto sliding doors and an entertainment system. But, it won't cost you $35K either. The standard LX has everything you need and the EX looks good with the added 2 tone body style and mag. wheels.

Our van is less than 6 months old, and is already in for a major valve job. The brakes are making strange noises and don't seem to be working properly. The paint on the roof has major blemishes appearing. We bought mainly because of value and a good rating from Edmunds. You get what you pay for and I have lost a lot of respect for Edmund's reviews.

We just drove our Sedona home from the dealer and glad we made the choice to buy one. I traded in a 98 Honda Odyssey with 100,000 miles. Don't get me wrong, Honda's are great, and yes I will miss the magic rear seats(alot) but we researched for a full month, drove all the minivans out there, and for all that we got, plus some, the value was there. We added an entertainment system for the kids which is great! and still thousands less than the new odyssey. This car is chock full of features that you can't find elsewhere for the price. Hope that Kia stands behind all they say, because if they do, this will probably be one of our best car investments yet.

Have had new since Nov 2003, now has 8200 miles. AC was not cooling well this summer(No other problems). They find low freon and no leaks, they assume low from manufacturer. Now hearing strange noises under the hood as driving down the road after this servicing: high pitched continuous noise, sort of like a vacuum noise, and then this random, short-lived humming-like sound that might be associated with the AC. I hope this is not the beginning of problem(s). Needless to say this will be re-evaluated soon.

I like the KIA because of the comfort, style and the way this minivan performs. Although it doesn't come with anti-lock breaks, with the price being lower than other minivans, you can afford to add on this (important) option. I added anti-lock breaks and the total price was still lower. My advice? Do your research. I did. And I'm extremely satisfied.

The Caravan was no comparison. The difference was a VW versus a Lincoln Towncar. Kia wins by a landslide! Go Kia!

Bought the Sedona before the safety testing information was available... crossed my fingers and hoped what the dealer was telling me was true (it was, the Sedona was rated tops in crash tests). We LOVE this van. Has given us worry-free operation, is packed with features you would pay thousands more for on a comparably equipped Toyota or Honda. The warranty convinced us to go with the Kia. Only had one problem... it decided not to start one day. I called the free road-side assist and help was on the way immediately. The dealer couldn't recreate the problem, but found that the battery was the likely culprit and popped a new one in, no questions asked.

My KIA sedona, within the first 15,000 miles had to have an alternator, and transmission replaced. The inside back Air control continues to fall out of the ceiling, and I have had to go through the factory to have it replaced. It continues to have the same problem with it, falls out of the ceiling. The interior is not well put together and the gas mileage is poor at best. The gas nozzel will cut off but pumping slowly you can still put four to five gallons of gas in the vehicle.

This is the first mini-van we have ever owned. And I love the room. You have all the luxuries without the high cost! We had test driven almost all out there, then this one. There was no question on which one we were going with. The only problem I have noticed so far is a very squeaky drivers seat and I just haven't had the time to contact Kia about it. I shopped all the mini vans on the market and found the Kia to offer more for my dollar then any other.I am 80 and now can drive for hours in comfort thanks to the power drivers seat. The ABS brakes while being soft still do their work well however it is a learning experience at first, The controls are well placed, handy ,and easy to read. The ride is very comfortable however the wind noise on the exzpressway needs improvement. At slow speed the sound is no problem

I must admit I was leary about buying a KIA but I must say I am very pleased with my vehicle to date. I've only had Sedona EX one month so far and have put on 1200 miles but his has been superb. The mpg is low...I'm averaging about 19-20 city but what minivans or SUVs get great mpg anyway? The mpg has to do with the vehicle weight [on average a 1,000lbs heavier than other vans] and I am more than willing to sacrifice paying a few more $ on gas than give up a 5 Star saftey rating. I did a lot of reasearch on mini vans and this is by far the best value IMHO.

I had it just over a month with 1200 miles on it. Good van for the the price. 50% larger cargo space will really make the daily duty more functional as van. There is a background acceleration sound coming from AC pipe vibration every 3 to 5 minutes when cruising. Very annoying when driving. For such a heavy vechicle (over 4800 lb) KIA should use larger tires than 215/70R15. With full load there is only about 500 lb of safety margin. Sienna and Odyssey has over 1000 lb of margin. Only time will tell the car will worth the money for the next 5 years. I brought the van after I saw many good comment, hope everyone is right about this van.

I am very skeptical and was totally against buying a "new" vehicle (to much to pay). But I could not believe the bang for the buck with the Sedona. I have had more troubles with this vehicle than with all other vehicles combined. I had the rear seals and the head gasket on the first engine replaced at 17K, the engine replaced at 22K. (it leaked oil again) The gaskets replaced on the second engine at 28K and guess what it leaks again at 37K. This is not to mention the starter, alternator, fuel sending unit, the door handle that broke, and the fog light that was half full of water. (All replaced or repaired under warranty) The tires were very poor and were replaced at 20K and the breaks are almost shot. If you include the poor gas mileage, it was one heck of a value.

I love my Kia!!

This is the easiest minivan to drive, my sister who is intimidated with the size of minivans said it was easy to handle. It has a great turn radius, handles the road extreemely well.....I just wish it got a little better gas mileage. The CD player is great..... And I love where the shifter is located. I also like the light indication for each gear as opposed to the needle indicator. This is a well designed minivan, I love it. I have own a 1993 Mercury Villager, 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2002 Chrystler Town and Country and now a 2003 Kia, and I love this one the most!!!!! (the 95 Dodge Caravan is in last place)

So, far I really like my new 2003 Kia Sedona. The kids really like it and my husband only agreed on a mini/van is because it kinda looks sporty..with the sunroof and rear spoiler and the chrome door handles etc.. he said if it didnt' look sporty then he wasn't going for it..

Only driven my new minivan a few weeks, but it handles much better than my Caravan ever did. All the features inside are easily accessible and the kids love the rear air features and the 12v plugs throughout the van that they can plug their games and stereos into. Was pleasantly surprised by the luxury car mats that came with it- even for both back seat areas, and the first aid kit was also a great find! It is a great van for the money and since I saved more than $8,000, I can use that money for a vacation!

We have had our new Sedona for almost 2 weeks now. Just took a trip to the beach and loved every minute of the drive! Highway mileage was decent, but have not had a chance to drive too much in the city to rate city mileage. Price was excellent compared to competitors. We paid so little for our Sedona that we were able to have a video entertainment system installed. This car has so many neat extra features that my Nissan minivan never had. I want to know why more people aren't driving these cars! They are great!

Bought LX 3 only days ago and we love it. Great price (around 18k with rebate) on a van with the best warranty and high safety rating. What else can I say! The LX is the lower trim level but still has all the major goodies we could need. Easy to put baby in (no crouching like in a car), very nice layout, good ride, feels solid, comfortable, excellent AC, good power from the V6, and good looking, too. Can't beat it for the price/warranty. Talk about peace of mind. Highly recommended.

Vehicle is comfortable, classy and a pleasure to drive. With the unique 5 speed auto, you have 4th, 3rd, and 1st as lock in gears...great for adjusting to any driving condition. Front wheel drive makes the vehicle almost snakeline on curves. Most passengers feel like they're in 1st class airliner. The 55 to 90 accelation confirms that feeling! Thanks KIA!

Here's an update from something other than a new owner. Initial quality was excellent, we had no issues on delivery. After just over 12,000 miles, we have also had no problems of any kind, are very happy with the van Three oil changes are the extent of the maintenance -- it's held alignment, belts are in great shape, paint and finish still excellent. Multiple 4-6 hour road trips with the whole family, with the A/C going most of the way in 100+ F heat, and remains one of the most comfortable travel cars I've owned. I just got 23 MPG averaging 76MPH with the A/C on the whole way on a trip to Vegas -- what am I doing different than the EPA?

It's easy to drive, handles well, and has a good solid feel to it when you close the doors. Ride is smooth and quiet, and the multiple seating configurations are fantastic. We live in Arizona and have traveled the mountains and highways in our van, with no problems. I always know when something needs attention, which isn't very often. We've had it now for almost 3 years and don't regret our purchase. The only problem we have now is making sure the doors are shut because the light will go on and the beeping starts.I believe the van is so tight that it creates a vacuum. But I love it.

So far, we love our Sedona. A few weeks after purchasing the van we took the family (5 of us) on a road trip. The Sedona was comfortable, roomy, had plenty of power, and provided a smooth ride. Before purchasing the Sedona, I researched a number of other vans. Liked the MPV, but it cost more. Looked at a Windstar, but now think it is all hype. My opinion is for value and features you can't beat the Sedona. Hopefully, I'll have the same opinion in 5 years.... but isn't that true with any new vehicle purchase?

My wife and I bought the Sedona EX, loaded, about a month ago. So far, we love the van. We researched mini vans for approximately four weeks, looking at most models. Our final three were Honda, Kia and Chevy (due to supplier discount). We ultimately decided on the Kia because of options included at a reasonable price, the great exterior look with the two-tone paint, the safety rating and the warranty. Other than the lack of gas milage, we think the van is great so far. The Sedona is about as sporty as a mini van can get with the two-tone paint and the rear spoiler.

Being a proud tightwad I couldn't get over all that the Kia sedona offered. First the dealer was exceptional. Secondly, the warranty, smooth ride and hidden little extras were a pleasant surprise. ( I got an LX with many EX features, free) The driver seat is not as roomy as my previous minivan. (dodge caravan) On long trips it can cramp legs and backs, however the seats do slide out indivually and the punch when you hit the pedal is there. All in all I would buy another sedona. For those prices ( 19,200) you cannot afford not too.

I shopped around and read as much as I could before buying. I looked at everything and only drove the ones I liked. The Sedona has the best looking interior of any mini-van, it has the best price and best warranty. This is a great van other than the poor gas milage and smallish space behind third seat. I drive it a lot on long freeway trips to Vegas, I always arrive fresh and never fatigued.

I have purchased this van for more room and comfort for my two little angels who are 3 and 5 years old.. our first concern was "safety" of the van..and the second was value and options you can get.. For the safety, you cannot argue on Sedona which got five stars on four way.. On value.. how you can get the minivan has all those options (such as leather, cd cassette player, moonroof, ABS ...) for less than or equal to strip minivan from other manufacturer.. plus it ride really nice and seats are very comfortable.. powerful engine etc...

We've had our Sedona now for about 3 months and we LOVE it! No one else can hold a candle to Kia in what you get for the price. Other vans are thousands more, and they nickel and dime you on options. My biggest concern, of course, will be reliability and ongoing quality of materials. That said, interior and exterior finishes seem solid and well thought out. We hope that our Kia will be with us for a long time to come!

Only 7800 miles on my van. Comfortable/feels solid. Steering pulls to right. Van struggles to stop due to heavy vehicle weight. I don't have ABS. Engine makes "whirring" noise...Kia mechanic said "it's normal...power steering making that noise"...it is annoying, especially when vehicle is cold. Van handles good in bad weather. Removeable seats are heavy. Lot's of interior room. Interior plastic scratches easily. Roof rack is cheap/weak. Hopefully this van will pass the test of time (build quality). Overall, this van performs as advertised and it appears to be the best minivan value for the dollar.

KIA would not have normally been our first choice since they are relatively new to our market, but after much research and a few test drives, KIA Sedona won hands down! The ride is awesome, it is stylish, well equipped and the safety ratings are wonderful! I don't mind the lower gas mileage because I know that it is caused by the reinforced body for safety. You can't put a price tag on the safety of yourself or your family!

We love driving long distances in our van. We have made several trips from NY to FL and have been sastisfied with its performance in all road conditions. It carries a large load while mainting an excellent ride. Gas mileage doesn't vary much traveling with a load at high speeds. One of its greatest features is that it burns regular gas. Service has been excellent at Atlantic Auto Mall. Prior to this car, we drove Ford Taurus wagons for more than 15 years.

I replaced my Buick Park Avenue with 125,000 miles , with this KIA. The Buick suffered a sudden crack in the transmission flywheel. I found no difference in ride quality and the fit and finish frmo my Buick to my KIA. The acceleration is excellent too. My Buick got about 30 MPG and my KIA get 25 MPG. But with the extra seating options and front and rear a/c I love the KIA more. I like the fact I saved more than $ 15,000 off the Buick Price. I saved so much money I bought my wife a car too! This is my third minivan, a geat value for money if you don't drive a lot of miles. Gas mileage is never been over 16 MPG, even if I drive all freeway. My Toyota Previa with a supercharge engine got better mileage than this van. Little trunk space. If I have to do it again, I would probably think twice about buying the current model. The van needs to go on a diet at 4900 pounds, it's to heavy. causing the gas mileage problem. Other than the gas mileage and little trunk space its a good van.

I am now a proud owner of an EX Sedona with leather, sunroof, ABS and even a spoiler for only $446 per month, PURCHASED!! I can't be happier. And the service department is one of the best. Overall I am very happy with the whole purchase experience and I think this is the best minivan ever made.

This is my first Kia and my first minivan and I am impressed. I walked into the dealership with everything researched and walked out with just what i wanted at the price i wanted to pay. I am impressed with the vehicle. It runs great and is very comfortable. the only thing i can see i dont like is the gas mileage. It is lower than most other minivans, but i guess you cant have everything. I would definely recommend this Vehicle.

This van was fully loaded with comfortable leather captains chairs and many other extras available at low cost ($20K). There is simply no way to beat the value and the warranties. I searched long and hard and tried to decide between the Odyssey (lots of transmission trouble), the MPV (well designed, but small and a bit more expensive) and the Sienna (too many$$). We were concerned about safety (Sedona is 5-star rated) and the problems related to power sliding doors (read the Odyssey reviews!). This is a great van for the money.

Picked up EX on Wed. Heater defective. On Sat., they say bring back on Mon. Go back on Mon. (after a very chilly 5 days), and get rental car. Finally call me on Thurs. to say it's fixed and they had to order a part and take apart my whole dashboard. Pick up my car again on Thursday. Immediately notice a 4-inch knife gash in passenger door upholstery. Show manager. Promises to replace entire door panel today. So now I have a brand new, 10-day old car that I've gotten to drive only 3 days. AND, they're never the same once they start taking apart the dash, door etc. Exceptionally poor service given by Fette Ford -- during both sales process/repair.

At first I would have written reccomending this minivan like others, but at 15,000 miles I can't. It has been in service many times for many different reasons. To be honest it sounds like a rattle trap. The seats rattle, the doors rattle, the back gate rattles. For the last serveral months the cruise has not consistently worked. They can't find the problem! The van's largest draw card is a lot of high-end features for reasonable money. And yet, you have to be able to enjoy those features while driving down the road. Would I buy the car again? Positively no. Be willing to give up long term integrity to fancy features.

Love It.

Wanted a Sienna, But for approx 8,000 less and more features, we decided to go with the sedona. Gas mileage is not so great , but it will take a lot of miles to burn the 8k difference in price. Also the Kia dealership was easier to deal with than the toyota dealerships. This van along with it's warranty will eventually take huge market share from toyota, honda, etc.

Personally, I believe this is the best minivan on the market.. After reviewing the features on this mini for almost 8 months, I finally decided to purchase the Ex Model with all of the bells and whistles except for the tow hitch. For $350, I could use this extra cash for the Valueguard paint protection plan.. For $19,300, you can't pass this deal up as other mid-size minivans usually costs around $27,500-$38,900 for the same features found on the Sedona. MY RECOMMENDATION: SAVE THE EXTRA $10,000!

I just paid $22,700 for a loaded Sedona EX, it has everything but the trailer hitch. After doing an unbelievable amount of research, this is the car that stuck out. For what you get, this is absolutely unbeatable. Price any other vehicle with leather, full electric, etc etc and the difference is very large. Time will tell, but if it turns out to be a reliable vehicle, then this car will have no equal.

After 4 months and 8,000km we have experienced no reliability problems with the van.The only irritating things about it are that the drivers seat makes a clicking noise when breaking and that there is a lack of carge space in the back . Other than that its a great van , its very comfortable on all roads given that the suspension is 4 wheel independent , engine noise and wind and road noise are almost non existent unless you accelerate hard you hear some engine noise but its not anoying. Drives as easily as a Mazda Mpv.

A great ride. This is our first minivan with our growing family and boy it's an excellent piece of work!. The Sedona has enough horses and excellent torque to get the job done yet maintains a fairly quiet ride. Handling is adequate for a minivan. The sticker price and reliablility reviews along with the piece of mind the standard warranties offer make this minivan an easy buy. Stop waiting in line for the underproduced and overrated Odyssey or Siennas, couple that with Kia's sales attitude from the top down make this the easiest car you will ever buy.

I recently purchased my Sedona after having several problems with my domestic van (check engine light always on among others) I really was not looking to buy foreign, however with all the options I wanted in a van the domestic models were way too much money and the resale value sucks! Therefore, I made an executive decision to go with the KIA. I got all the bells and whistles and 0% financing for 5 years. My payment was only a slight bit higher than what I was paying for a used domestic van (which no one wanted to give me anything for as a trade)and I havve the best warrranty out there. Go figure! I am proud of my decision and my new Sedona.

We have had the Van for almost a year now and have yet to have a single problem. After almost 10k miles it still makes us smile. It has alot of power for a van and alot of exelent features. Maby we are lucky but on our trips and just around town we have had above average fuel consumption. Averaging around 24mpg on the highway and about 19pmg in the city. So I will not say fuel consumption is a problem for me. GET ONE!! Youll be glad you did!! Good job Kia, and since the Sorento has the same engine we may just buy one of them here soon.

I was really surprised at the quality of the interior and the general fit of the van. Good stero the EX is well worth the extra $. The HP may scare you off but there is good acceleration with over 210 pounds of torque

I previously owned a 2002 KIA Rio Cinco which I simply adored & traded in for the Sedona. Just to show Kia's quality, I had 40,000 miles on my Cinco & all I ever did was change the oil. THAT'S IT! The new 2003 Rio Cinco's have all the features that the 2002 model lacked. What a GREAT vehicle. I used to be Mitsu proud but now I am ALL KIA! we have had our Sedona now for 12 months...while many relatives looked at us cross eyed when we told them we bought a Kia, we decided (based on the price) to take a chance...it was a good call...we have only had one problem (the front cup holder) other than that it has been entirely reliable, easy to drive, very functional!!! we have the scaled down LX (no leather, no CD, etc) but it was money well saved...the dealer required maintenance has also been economical, fast, and friendly...no complaints thus far...if you need to seat a car pool and don't want to have to pay through the nose to do it, this van is a great choice!

My mom loves the van to death, first she had a chrysler town and country that was a 1999 she paid more for that van than she did for the sedona. The ride, performance and also the longgevity of the vehicle is going to be much greater. The reason I say that because My mom had the chrysler van for 1 year and the trans went out. Then again about 30,000 miles later that's when she decided to trade that thing in on a sedona van. No problems what so ever and she is 100% satisfied about the van. Knowing that the van is 5 Star rated even makes it more fun to drive.

This minivan has all the things you'd want in a family vehicle. My Sedona EX came with leather, power seats, abs, am/fm cassette, cd 6 speaker stereo, plenty of cup holders and all for about 20 grand. The performance from the 3.5L V6 engine is excellent. You can feel the torque at low rpms move you along quickly, making it fun to drive. So far after 3000 miles my Sedona has had no problems whatsoever. I shoped around and for could not find anything close to it value wise. The great warranty of 10 year / 100,000 miles on drivetrain makes it a no brainer.

I have a 02 Sedona EX, purchased 7/28/02 . I like many qualities about the vehicle but feel, that Kia's quality control is non-existent. I have spent nearly as many days in the shop as in the driveway. Lumbar seat switch stuck on and depleted the battery, requiring using roadside assistance. Then power steering pump, A/C partial replacement, replacement of entire left rear trim panel, transmission irregularity and lastly, rust on the tailgate requiring repainting and 3 day tie up.(I live in Florida). Not a good experience at all. The mileage is horrific (which I knew when I bought it). Should have at least 16" wheels,

I was a little emarassed at first about having a Kia, but now enough people have ridden in it and had nice things to say about it that I am glad I bought it. It's actually a beautiful looking van, and the interior has unique styling and the controls are laid out smartly. I have had no mechanical problems with it. The ride feels great. The only problem I had was I took it to the car wash and spayed water on the bumper where it was pretty dirty, and a little bit of the paint just flew off. But the Kia dealer had it repainted without any questions or arguments.

Overall, Sedona is a very good van. Quality of components are good, drives well. Never felt slow. Interior comfort is superior compared to most minivans available in the market now. seats can be arranged many different ways. Night time driving is very comfortable. Headlights are very bright. Visibility is excellent even with the rear seat headrests in place. Only negative thing i can say about the van is the fuel economy. Trip range is approximately 270 miles on average on full tank of regular Gasoline. Not good. Averages around 16 mpg.

Gas mileage is horrible. The controls above the dashboard have no illumination at night so are hard to see. You don't know if you are opening the sunroof or the rear side window. I have owned the Sedona about a year having put 18000 miles on it. I have found it a pleasing van to drive and ride in. The dealer service has been excellent and have had no mechanical probblems. I think its a good value for the money.

It's everything the research says. It lacks a few of the gadgets that the more upmarket minivans have, but it has everything you truly need. The engine is remarkably smooth, the ride very good, the build quality much nicer than expected. And you simply cannot top the warranty! I don't know why anyone would buy anything else.
