I just bought a 2003 Hyundai Sonata with only 41,000 miles on 1 owner carfax showed no accidents and schedule repairs on this car. It rides like brand new.

This car is tough!!

At 171k I decided to change my timing belt and filter FOR THE FIRST TIME! Both were in remarkably good shape! Did my first tune up at the same time. Even driving in the mountains and with the electrodes on the spark plugs completely burned off I was still averaging 22.7 MPG. Had a radiator flush at 100k and it still looks and smells fine, as does the oil and tranny fluid. I bought this car new and would definitely buy another!

Wish every car was like this

This week my 2003 will see its 260,000 mile, and I will say goodbye to it after 11 years of loving this thing. I'm a big tall guy and never felt cramped driving this car. In its first few years it had acceleration that rocked. And even today as I drove it to the wash, I am amazed how smooth it runs, with very little maintenance over the years. The few problems I've had were it seems to get misaligned quicker than normal, and last year my AC finally went completely out. But it's the best car I've ever owned

Love this car!!

I bought this car when it was 2 years old and had 90,000 miles on it. It never failed me in a serious way. I felt I was selling a family member when I let her go, then she was totaled 6 days after I sold her :( She was at 190,000 miles at that point and was showing transmission issues. Liked it so much I'm selling the car I bought, for the same year Sonata again.

Very good value car!

Bought this car with 65K miles on it for 3000$ two years ago. It went through rough winters in Quebec and never let me down. It is a simple sedan but seems very reliable. The steering is numb and the automatic transmission lacks responsiveness but it is just a commuter car to go from point A to B. I feel that it's consuming oil but for a vehicle of that age I am not surprised. Note for people in the north, it is prone to rust. Mine is in better shape than average here but it shows weaknesses. I can afford a better car but I don't want to let this one go. It is cheaper that its Japanese competitors of that era but I feel that it gives better bang for the buck.

I see all these people writing bad reviews on this car because they did not maintain the car! What is wrong with people these days???? Complaining about a timing belt as a repair? Come on people... That is just called maintaning your car!!!!! if you can not afford a tune up on a 4 cyl Hyundai you should not even own a car!!!! These are great cars if you take care of it!! Trust me i am an ASE master tech and work on these cars daily, and not for Hyundai!

I bought this car in 2004 with 34,000 miles on it. Since that time it has gone everywhere and through every type of road and hazard imaginable. I have replaced, I don"t know how many tires and about four or five sets of brakes and two timing belts. I've given very little engine care other than two tune-ups and oil changes every so often. The car has stopped on me twice. Once when a timing belt broke (my fault new it was time)and once when a crank sensor failed. It is an Awsome vehicle that is still in good shape. Yesterday it turned 320,000 miles!

I bought this car used, with 23,000 miles on it. We took a 1500 mile trip shortly there after. It averaged 28 mpg. I change the oil every 3000 miles along with other routine maintenance. etc. It now has 130,000 miles on it and recently experienced brake chattering. The pads have been changed several times, but never the rotors. Well as it turns out the rotors were as smooth as a baby's a--. Yes, after 130,000 miles, all it needed was pads. Does it show its mileage, but of course. However, if you are considering this model, don't be concerned about advanced miles. This will be the best sedan you will ever buy. Nuff said.

I don't know about some of the previous reviews. I bought this car from the estate of a friend who bought it, then died shortly thereafter. He told me he loved his previous Hyundai and this one also. I was skeptical, but at the time it was just what I needed. This car has been extremely reliable, easy to drive and repair (for what little repairs it needed). Assessing the quality I would say it is not quite as good as a Honda Accord, but better made than a Camry, too bad the resale value isn't that of either of these models. I would definitely buy another Hyundai and I think that the new Sonatas are better than ever!

Bought used had tune up and timing belt replaced. Still not much better? Had suspension checked 4 times replaced struts for safety. Still has thumping sounds no one can find reason! But told car is safe? The amount of money I paid for plus repairs I could have bought a new one live and learn. Dealer was supposed to be reliable. Not so in this case this vehicle should be called the Hyundai clunker.

Caliber stuck at 9,000 miles whole new break job on rear, then front pads fell apart at 15,000 not covered. front interior handles cut passenger had replaced prior to recall. flush trans fluid expensive due to special fluid. alternator went out at 60 thousand, very expensive to replace, labor cost will kill you. Timing belt goes out around 60 thousand. Be prepared for tune up. Have your check book ready if you by a used 2003, you'll need it for repair cost. Paint flakes off exterior door handles.

I bought it new back in 2004. Stepson crashed it 3 months after I bought it. The dealership is having problems fixing it and honoring my insurance claims. Approximately once a year it won't start. They claimed they fixed it by doing such things as disabling the antitheft system, changing the battery and replacing sensors but I still have the problems. Insurance won't honor the claim anymore saying its a sensor problem even though its the same problem from the crash, the dealership is charging me $500 a year to change the same sensor over and over. Statefarm Insurance and Hyundai are screwing me over on this one. Exterior is coming apart..again, radio problems & door handle problems.

I bought this car new for my wife who uses it to commute 80 miles to work every day. Well, after 7 years and 122K miles I can say this car was a bargain. We've performed all the scheduled maintenance and haven't had any problems. Beware the cost to change the plugs, labor was $234, however I've only had to do it twice. Great little car with all the LX amenities. Liked it so much bought a Hyundai XG-350 for myself.

I Like The Car. I Like The Features. However its not dependable. changed alternator, cv shafts. Oh. Did i mention the whole engine. ?? Yea. follow maintenance intervals for timing belts. they tend to break and kill your engine. My car is nice. wish it was a little better on fuel, a little more dependable, and it came with more features. Then Again I only have the base. My car is going on 7 years old and it is still a head turner. I will drive it until i graduate college. But I doubt I'd Buy another one. 154,000 miles on body. 7,000 on engine. still going strong. HOPE IT LASTS!! Thanks.

The Sonata is about $5k less on average to own vs the Honda Accord & Toyota Camry. However I do know about 6 yrs into ownership that in the end I spent much more in repairs on this "cheap car" than going with one of the others. First everything on this car at the garage is "special parts" & expensive. Needs special transmission fluid when flushing, special tires (racing ones found on a Jag)at about $130/tire & already replaced 2 sets. The power radio antenna broke-$300. The power steering line rusted & broke-repair pending. Have 134,000 mi on it presently & gone through 3 sets of brakes & pads an most of driving is wide-open hwy. I suggest buying a better car up front & save $ in long r

Did oil change every 3,000- 5,000 miles other than that general maintenance. Not thrilled with dealer very poor customer service. I have found overall excellent performance and comfort level. Arm rest worn and power lock just went. Previously owned Mederces, Cadillac, TBird, Mustang, Lincoln,

Bought this car used from the previous owner at a great price. My husband found the bargain and I was not so sure at first, but after a complete detailing and some personal touches I'm in love! This car looks like a little jag and handles like a dream. She has looks and kick. The headlights were cloudy and yellowing when I bought her but I found a plastic polish from Meguire's that made them look almost new again. Since purchase, she has needed new tires w/ alignment and a new spark plug (tune-up soon). The washer fluid pump does not work, will have to look into for repair. Rear view mirror functions not working either.

Bought this car new in late 2003. The only issue has been a failed rear window defroster. Hyundai installed a new rear window and everything has been fine since. I replaced the awful Michelin MXV4 tires with Kumho Solus KH16s which are light years better under all conditions. It still has the factory battery!

I bought my Sonata GLS V6 in January '09 and I've had it for about 6 months now...and let me tell you...I absolutely love this car! It has all the right features of a luxury car except not the luxury price. I ALWAYS get compliments on my car and when it's washed (mine is pearl white with a hint of sparkle) you better believe it will turn heads! Even though some people may say they want more horsepower, I don't think the Sonata needs it...if they want more horsepower they need to get a used Mustang! However, I lie to you not that I raced a guy on a Suzuki motorcycle (fully loaded) and I beat him going about 135mph!!! I kidd you not...go out and purchase a Sonata GLS V6 if you want quality!

At 10,000 miles calibers stuck had to have all new brakes and drums, then at 14,000 front breaks had to be replaced. Dealer said it was my driving that cause the brakes to crumble. Needed new belts already, gas mileage stinks. Paint came off door handles so they are now White, all four of them. Interior worn, and I am a single person. Would not recommend this car. Now at 48,000 need new breaks again, rear calibers stuck once again, but then it is always my fault. Don't buy a 4 cylinder, you have to turn off heat or air to get on the freeway, and pray when you go up a hill. No matter what a salesman says this model in a 4 is not like a 6. Have driven my daughters Toyota and her 4 has no problem.

I bought this with 14,000 miles. Put a lot of miles in 4 years, about 165,000. Ac compressior went out quickly, leaking oil. Dealer refused to fix because of miles, even though it was under normal ac warranty period. You must change timing belts, all! As scheduled as I done. Faithfully changed oil. Trans started acting up, again I faithfully serviced. I still would buy another one, looking now at 04, getting rid of a 2008, don't like the ride as much as the 03!

We bought this car with 68000 miles on it. The car was nice looking more on the richy side. when we drove it for more the 25 minutes the trany got hot. To back up it felt like you hit someone when you didnt. The paint on the bumpers would come up every time i washed it. Then the air bag light came on if we repair it the cost will be $1000. The spark plugs needed replaced well that bill was $400 because the had to take part of the motor to change them. loved the inside but overall bad bad car!!!!!!!

The car has been great and Hyundai supports the warranty. Had a transmission fail at 92,000, but I am sure it was due to improper servicing at 65K. Hyundai replaced with rebuilt Trans only asking if I changed fluid. Previous post dissing Sonata due to failed timing light and no engine light to warn is owner's fault. No car will give a light for this and they all will fail. Suppose to replace at 65,000, mine lasted until 90K and then I had it replaced. Still running strong at 97K. Comfortable and roomy. Back seat tight with carseats, but all cars of this size are. Would buy again and recommend. Hope to get another 50K and then buy a new one.

Well, I bought my car 2 months ago. I'm 16. It's kinda big for a 16 year old. But I like it b/c it suits me. I like the exterior design and the interior is tan and shows stains. Car takes off slow u must put your foot into it. Other than that I love the gas mileage and the way it looks. My friends also insist we take my car when we go somewhere. So overall I love it. It also looks brand new when its 5 years old.

We got this car and its very Nice looking. The inside is very Nice. The only thing is the trany needs to be replaced. We are not happy. We talked to some one who has 2001 Hyundai sonata they told us that they had to replace the trany at 12,000 miles and now 68,000 miles later again same problem. Also the airbag light comes on and that will cost about $1000 to fix. If you need the spark plugs replaced it will be about $400 to do it because they have to take part of the motor apart. The tires are different on this car so they are about $160 a each. We have the v6 2.7litter and the oil filter for that style motor doesn't fit you have to get the 4 cylinder. Good looking car.

I love my Hyundai Sonata, I bought it for the gas mileage, and its sporty design it puts you in mind of a Lexus. I live in a mountain region of the country and it pulls the hills as good as the day i bought it. My family purchased a new 08 Chrysler sebring and my sonata out performs it 2 to 1. Only thing is it has a low resale value. I'll buy another hyundai when this one die's. They say they are good for 200,000 miles, i guess I'll wait and see.

Minimal cost other than routine maintenance, oil changes, tires, brakes. Gas mileage better than stated on sticker; in fact, at 145,000 miles better than when first purchased. Handles excellant, rides like new after the miles. Best vehicle I have ever purchased. Mistaken for much more expensive vehicles - BMW, Mercedes and jag with the price of a Yugo.... LOL workmanship much better than any vehicle I have driven, including multiple rentals since I drive approx 100,000 per year for work. Have never had to use the warranty other than for a dead battery which was on my behalf.

When I bought my car I loved it! I called it my baby Jag. 5 months after I bought it the airbag light came on, the dealership couldn't fix it. After 3 years of ownership, the engine blew because the timing belt broke. No check engine light ever went on. I was 1,000 miles over the warranty limit. It cost me $3500 for a new one. One year after the replacement of the engine the check engine light came on and now I don't want to deal with this car anymore! I thought Hyundais were supposed to be good cars. Apparently not after so many years. :(

Just returned the car at the dealer (was on a lease). The Sonata had been a very reliable car. Put on 70K without any problems except for normal maintenance. You buy this car for family needs (roomy for 4 & a good size trunk), not for performance (small V6).

I fell in love with my Hyundai the moment the salesman rolled it up to the showroom window for my test drive. I love the body type and color (gun metal grey)and the interior is roomy and comfortable. In December of '07 someone ran a light and T-boned me in my Hyundai. To be more precise they "attempted" to T-bone me...the side impact bars that are inside the door panels saved me from any harm whatsoever. I was hit by an SUV going at 40-45 mph their vehicle was destroyed it the front. You could actually see the outline of the steel bars because the impact was hard enough to wrap the metal of the door around the bar. Thanks Hyundai for saving my life!!!

Had a 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo that that the ripe old age of 13 years reliably got me to Texas from Michigan, I love the classy look of this car, but I don't really like the Hyundai dealers that can never find issues that I tell them it has. There is something wrong with the electrical system, the car doesn't unlock at times, all the lights in and out went out one day when I was at the stop light and magically came back on when I pressed the gas pedel, I have had the battery checked all ok, drove the car to a store and had to have it jumped when I came back out?, I don't know if I can trust it. Hyundai is not a big help. To many issues for not being very old. There is more but no room

Beware...this car is falling apart. Im reading all of the reviews and how happy owners are about their Sonatas. I am extremely UNHAPPY. I just took it into the dealer and it will cost me approximately $2000 to repair. The airbag light won't go off and cost $481 to fix-not covered under warranty. How is a safety device not covered under warrenty? They said they'are not sure why a belt is making all of this noise but they will have to take the engine apart which with permission is oveer $280 and then I need to replace the timing belt and any other parts. They said they can't diagnose the problem without doing all of this work. I still owe $10000 on this piece of junk!

Love, love, love it!

Bought with 23,000 miles on it and in two years, have not had one single thing done to it except change the oil. Has started every single time - even in 20-below zero weather. Like the style -too bad they changed it for 2006 - now you can't tell the Sonata from any other car out there!

I previously owned a Lexus 400, and thought I was spoiled. In a move to economize, I bought the Sonata. Of course, it does not perform like a Lexus, but I have been nothing but happy. I have 50,000 miles on it and it ahs not cost me an extra penny beyond regular maintenance and replacement of consumables. The dealers treat me like a Lexus customer. I will never buy any other brand.

This is my wife's car, she really enjoys driving the car, it has been good mechanically, although the rack & pinion needed to be replaced, other than that just the regular oil changes. If the car remains problem free for a couple more years, we would look into buying another Sonata.

I love my car, but it seems to be "Invisible" to other drivers. Have been HIT BY OTHER cars 4 times and at least 12 "very near misses" all in broad daylight with lights (including fog) ON! ALL claimed "Never saw my car"! Original cost of car: $19500. Total repairs: $24800. Very expensive to repair!!! My car is black with chrome. I love driving my Sonata and I had planned on keepting it for a long time, but I now plan to get rid of it. It's too dangerous! I would like a new Sonota (white this time), but I HATE the new body style! I'll be looking at other brands... Toyota, maybe.

Its reliable and fun to drive. Winter driving is on ice and snow also is a breeze with front wheel drive and comfortable size on the highway. New or used, try a Sonata. Drive Smart!

I also don't like the remote control is only available by the dealership at cost of over a hundred and fifty dollars. I also only get 12 MPG while driving in city driving. Expected better but is a V6 I have the LX. I have had my car garaged over night I think three times.

This car has been all we were hoping it would be and more. The 2 years we have driven this car it has only required one dealer visit, the chrome peeled off the interior door handles so they were replaced no questioned asked. The car rides great and the performance of the V6 is more then adequate. We will be looking to replace this vehicle soon and are leaning towards a small SUV from Hyundai or Kia because of this cars quality and affordability.

easy entry/exit. great visibility, good drivetrain combo, but could use a little more power. logical and easy to use controls, versatile interior appointments (2 tiered console, useful door and seat pockets). has been low maintenance; outside of routine maintenance (tires, brakes, tune-ups and fluid changes) the only repair has been front wheel bearings..., oh yeah, I've got 198,000 miles as of this writing, in 2-1/2 years. I get compliments all the time on how nice it looks and in the 2 years I have had it the only thing I had to take it back to the dealer for was a defective sun visor. I wouldn't hesitated to recommend the Sonata. Truly a "bang for the buck."

Great car for the money. I bought this 03 Sonata (6cyl AT) new in 07-03. I now have 30k miles on it. It looks as good as an Accord or Camry but costs about 8k dollars less. My car has had NO Problems. I do regular oil changes and tire rotations and thats all I have needed to do. The car has adequate power and when you need it too it will rev up nicely. The ride is great and whenever I haul passengers around they always ask me (after 5-10 min. in the car) "What kind of car is this?" The back seat will hold two full size adults comfortably. The trunk is huge. Mileage is average for a midsize car with a 6cyl.Overall a great value.

I have driven this car since September and there are just a couple things that I am not happy with: Miles per gallon- The sticker idicated 19 City/27 Hwy and I have barely averaged 20 MPG on mostly highway trips the car now has 7,500 miles; I took it to the dealer after 1,000 miles was averaging 12.8 MPG. The automatic transmission lags on emergency acceleration - I will have the dealer check it at the next service. The 4 speed transmission is adequate in city traffic, but should have overdrive for higher speeds.

I bought this car out the door for under 18K. That was primary reason for buying it. It has proven to be very reliable outside of a couple minor gliches. The V-6 got much peppier after about 5 thousand miles and drives very nice. I prefer a bigger car but for the size you can beat it for the price.

There is no car on the market that will come close with ride, warranty, standard features and price. I looked at Oldsmobile, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagon, Audi (JUNK) and Buick. They all wanted TOOO much money for their cars with no options. The HELL with American (JUNK) made cars.

Totaled my 2000 Grand Marquis and wife's truck bit the dust, both at the same time. Had to get something affordable. I got the GLS and wifey got the Accent. Both of thease cars are simply GREAT!!My Sonata drives and rides like a dream, a tad hard on BIG potholes but otherwise very fine. Drive 80-85mph to keep up with traffic here in Vegas, a breeze! Have over 10K miles on it, not a single problem. I'm 6-4 and 240, enough room for me. Just love the car. I get a kick out of the jokers who spent $30-40K for a nameplate. Stop reading and go out and buy one of these incedible cars.

Just got a nice 1 year anniversary card in the mail from Hyundai. To paraphrase what it said, I Win. I have 3 other vehicles so I only put about 1K miles a month on this car, but I have to say I'm impressed. Got the obligatory Benz and Jag comments (not bad company for a car under $20k). After break-in symptoms subsided (burning decals on exhaust, lower than expected mileage but has rebounded STRONGLY) I can say this car has not had a single problem or a dealer visit. Give Hyundai a few years and they'll be selling like Honda's. I'd say Hyundai already has the quality and design to take Mitsu out of the picture completely.

As soon as I saw the updated Sonata with the Jaguar-ish front end I knew I had to have one. Who can afford a real Jag? Not only is this a beautiful car but you get some many features for a reasonable amount of money. Even the plastic wood-grain trim is nice. And I also got abs and traction control and still kept it under $20k. I've had the car for 19 months and just hit the 50k mark. It's only been in a shop for its regular oil changes and it's 30k tune up. I have had many compliments on my car. I loved it the day I bought it and 19 months later I still do.

You can't beat this car for the price. I shopped around for almost 2 months before finally deciding on the Sonata. I was unable to find any other car with as many amenities for the price. I've now had the car for about 2 months and have put about 1000 miles on it. I have not had a bit of trouble with it so far. The last time I checked, I was getting about 22mpg in almost exclusively city driving. Handling is a little soft for my taste, but that's to be expected for a car in this class. My previous car was a Mitsubishi Eclipse, so I was used to something a little sportier.

GREAT DRIVING CAR AROUND TOWN AND ON THE ROAD. RECENTLY COMPLETED 2000 MILE ROAD TRIP WITH THREE OTHER ADULTS. AVERAGE 32 MPG USING CRUISE CONTROL AT AVE SPEED 62 MPH. ALMOST ALWAYS USE THE SELECT SHIFT SIDE. FIND THAT IT INHANCES PERFORMANCE OF 4 CYCLINDER ESPECIALLY UP HILL GRADES. DEALERSHIP (NORM REEVES-TEMECULA) HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING. NO HASSLE PURCHASE, ONLY ONE MINOR PROBLEM. ONE WIPER BLADE MADE NOISE WHILE IN OPERATION. THEY REPLACED BLADE AND NOISE WENT AWAY. VERY ROOMY FOR FOUR FULL SIZE ADULTS. LOTS OF HEADROOM. VERY COMFORTABLE. VERY COMPETITIVE PRICING. GREAT WARRANTY..

Glad I bought it

The car is beautiful and its perfect if your on a budget like I am. I drove the car brand new from Texas to New York and back. No problems and the ride was extreamly comfortable. The warranty is great and I've had no problems with the car as of now, I have 15000 miles on it. Get one - they're inexpensive and will last for a long time.

Purchased this vehicle 2 weeks ago after waiting 6 mos. before making a final purchase. Researched the Honda's and Toyota's and ONLY the Sonata grabbed me with it's stylish exterior. I've always believed in anything mechanical that it must looks as good as it works...... and while the Honda and Toyota have great work records they don't look good to me. With the 10 year warranty I am sure that the Sonata will still look good if it ever needs fixed. Whereas the others will still look bad even if they last forever.

I reside in WV but had to travel to Ohio to get a good price. Limited Hyundai dealers in WV means no competition=poor bargaining power=higher price to consumer. Classy design looks elegant. Get the moonroof, it's worth it. I paid $16,100 & took the special financing & feel I got a good deal. Buy at end of month & you will get a better deal due to dealers making their quotas. I just got back from Wilmington, NC and the car ran flawlessly. The warranty is incomparable. Buy this car & you will be in love with it.

I have roughly 7800 miles on my Sonata and it's been a great car from day 1. I do 95% city driving and I get a consistent 20MPG. The only problem I've encountered was about 80 miles ago the engine light came on while I was driving. The dealer fixed the problem with no charge and no hassles. Power wise, its no drag racer but has been more than adequate for my needs. Handling has been good but there is body roll in sharp turns. The ride is smooth, quiet and comfortable. My 9 year old daughter loves the fold-down center console in the back seat. The build quality is excellent. It really is a tight and solid car.

Purchased this vehicle in June of 2003 after realizing that my 1992 Dodge Grand Caravan which had 260,000 miles was ready to be turned in. The all over design is inspired by Jaguar. The interior is quite spacious and well appointed for a car of this price. The price and warranty can't be beat, even if it is a Hyundai. I have been on several long trips from Jersey to Boston and back. Never felt any degree of discomfort in the driver's seat. After nearly three months the car has 9000 miles and sounds perfect, and runs perfect. Gas is 23/27. I am very impressed and happy with my purchase. Will probably keep buying Hyundais...

We bought the 2003 Sonata LX w/ the "homelink" feature. The "homelink" is a very nice feature. It lets you open your garage door by pressing one of three button on the rear view mirror. It can operate three different doors as well. It comes with the automatic dimmer feature, so at night the mirror cuts down on the glare from the car behind you. Very impresed with the warranty. Probably the biggest selling point of the car. DEFINATELY go for the V-6 over the V-4.(standard the LX)

I had my Sonata for only four weeks before I was rear ended in a 5 car accident. My airbags did not deploy and the chasis folded and buckled near the moonroof. I walked away with only serious wiplash and a scrape on the knee. The car did exactly what it was suppose to during the impact. I am curious though why the air bag did not deploy.

I was a faithful driver of Toyota Camrys, but when I saw the Hyundai, I had to drive it. I went to the dealership to prove to myself that the car wasn't as nice as it looked from the outside. As soon as I put the car in gear, I knew I would buy one. It drives like a dream (smoother ride than the 2003 Camry) and is fun too. My last Camry needed a lot of non- warranty repairs at 76,000 miles which is why I traded it in. The 100,000 mile warranty sold me on the car as well.

I've owned a Silver 2003 Sonata LX (with ABS/Trac, Moonroof) for about 4 months with not a single problem. So far the car is very dependable & with the 5-years/60K bumper-to-bumper warranty, I'm not much worried either. The looks of Sonata with the extraordinary warranty were the key factors for me to buy this car. The exterior styling of Sonata is stunning. Sonata's styling is the hybrid of Mercedes C-class and Jaguar. I personally think that Sonata is the most appealing car in mid-size car category. I'm getting around 20-22 mpg in mix driving condition, which I think is very reasonable.

Purchased a new 2003 Sonata w/the V6 upgrade and 4AT (no other options). It's great! Interior could use some minor adjustments - like seat comfort - the drivers side certainly doesn't "cradle" you (spoiled by my old Chevy Lumina!) The speaker sound quality is not the best - a little muddy. But overall, a GREAT deal! We were out the door at $15,806 (including a 1000 rebate). Mike and crew at Fitzgerald Auto Mall were upfront and very accommodating. More than I can say for some of the other dealers we visited before buying there.

In the end, Sonata was an easy choice!

Me and the wife just bought our 2003 Sonata LX, we own a 2001 Elantra. it still looks brand new, and performs marvelously. The Sonata looks and perfroms like a 30,000.00 dolar car, yet i got mine for 17,500.00 after rebates and dealership loyalty bonuses. My honest tip to anyone who is looking for luxury, performance and quality at a reasonable price must take a serious look at the Sonata LX. I'm hoping the Hyundai of today is like the Toyota of the late 60's - up and coming. This auto was purchase as a commuter car, however it rides well on the highway with a surprisingly quiet ride.

Everyone wants to know "What kind of car is that?" and "That's a beautiful car." I also like to tell them that you won't find a comperable American vehicle for less than $5,000 more. It's styling, affordability, and warranty speak for themselves. Go try one out - you won't be disappointed!

A little disappointed in this Sonata. Whats this with a vibration when your in drive and sitting at a stopsign or redlight. It just vibrates to much. I realize its a 4 cyl. but this is just uncomfortable for me and we have had the car for only 4 days. Everyone is giving it mostly good reviews, Did I miss something?

We purchased the car after many weekends shopping other dealers like Honda, Toyota, and Nissan and opted for the Hyundai. Not only is it a great looking car with many options that the others don't offer on the base models it is less expensive. The warranty is great! Unfortunately at the rate I drive I should have over 100K miles on it by the 5th year. Which means the extra 5 years on the 10 year warranty will be wasted. This is an awesome buy if you only drive 10K miles a year. We got the V6 model and it has a lot of get up and go with little noise. We have traded in a Mercedes C230 Kompressor and I do not regret it in the least.

I've recently made the jump from a BMW 318i convertible, to a Sonata. So far, I love the change. While it was tough to admit that it was time for the Family Sedan, I did my homework, and pick a definite winner. The ride is soooo smooth, and fun when you want it to be. It handles as well as my BMW ('96) and has a lot more room.

i've had my sonata gls for 1.5 years, and i'm totally impressed with the car.the list of standard features on the car are incredible.i wanted a larger car with a v-6,sunroof,etc.and of course a good warranty.i looked at the new altima and it would have been about $24,000, same for the accord and stratus. my sonata fully loaded w/o leather and abs stickered @$18,500 w/sunroof.the car has a very good ride at high speeds and minimal vibration, the v-6 to me is better than i thought it would be,passing power is great and acceleration is good.i highly reccomend this car to anyone.

This is my second Sonata (lost a 2000 base to an accident) and I love it. Since 2000 they have made a number of small but appreciated changes including split folding seats, more space efficient trunk hinges, and a power outlet in the trunk. I’m still in the break in period, but even without revving the engine the car has plenty of power. I would recommend it to my friends.

Very pleased with the dealer. It is an eyestopper that everyone seems to like. Tight until broken in, but releases as it acquires mileage. I have just 5000 on it so far and am well pleased. Mine is grey, a color that appeals to many. I find the suspension a bit hard, four wheel independent, and the webbing on the steering wheel bothersome. I think I will get a pair of Isotoners for driving for comfort and a bit of class.

Very happy so far. Bought 03 GLS in Jan w/Pkg 5(moonroof,ABS,Trac Ctrl). Didn't want roof, but wanted TC, so took pkg 5. Very comfortable quiet ride, stereo good (not great), performance good, V6 plenty powerful (not as much as Hond/Toy, but better than their 4cyl and still less $), Shiftronic is fun (and contrary to some opinions, useful). My 1st month got ok gas mileage (20 mpg) in mixed (60% hwy/40% city) driving. Now avg 24 mpg. Best was a 600mi trip in Apr. that netted a very respectable 28 mpg avg (~ 80% hwy/20% city).

We recently purchased a 2003 Hyundai Sonata LX with package 7 and I cannot believe how much car you get for the money. While we were out shopping we decided to look at a Camry at our dealers Toyota’s store which was across the street from their Hyundai store. We found that a Camry XLS equipped like our Sonata LX would have cost almost $7,000 more. I know about Hyundai’s past, but that was then and this is now. As fun and reliable as my 2001 Elantra has been, I could never justify spending $7,000 more for a comparable car.

2003 Hyundai Sonata Base Model with the V6 Auto upgrade with the moonroof. I think the Edmunds TMC pricing is a bit low, though. Kelley's and NADA prices show the price as higher. Dealer invoice was $16360 for this car. I managed to get it for $16,100 without the rebate. I chose the special financing, instead. I'm surely no expert at buying a new car and wonder how the experts here may think I did on the price? $16,100 out the door (no taxes because I will title it in my state).3 or 4 dealers in my entire state; they won't deal; bought car in adjoining state. So far, 2 days, I love the car & the ride. Thanks for any input.

I just graduated from college and was thrilled to be purchasing a new car (I drove a 1988 Celica with 200,000 miles on it thoughout college). A friend bought a Sonata just before we graudated, I fell in love with it, it reminded me of a Jag or Mercedes. I was certain that it would be out of my price range, I was shocked on how affordable it was! I purchased a 2003 black 5-speed with standard features for around $15,000(I prefer to drive a manual, its just more fun). My Mom and Dad saw it and thought it was a Mercedes and my husband (he's a mechanic)loves the warranty and loves to drive it too. The standard features are great for the price!

I bought this car because of the price. I personally prefer Japanses cars, but financial problems always happen to everyone, I believe. We own an 03 Sonata GLS, W/ sunroof & spoiler, & standard Sonata package. Honda & Toyota go head to head here. We have seen in Hyundai, the turn both Honda & Toyota made years back, from disposible cars, to quality products. The 03's are a testimony to Hyundai's desire to turn the corner, and they have done it! The looks, performance, interior & exterior, they put together a machine to be proud of. Add to that, Consumer Reports "Recommended Seal", plus the warranty, and there's no comparison. People trying to figure out what it is from the looks, makes the whole ownership thing really pleasing. Test drive it, and I know which you will choose!

I initially wasn't even going to look at the Hyundai's when I was going to buy either a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord. However, when I read in Consumers reports that the Sonata had predicted above average reliability, much better than the new Camry, and slightly lower than the Honda, I had to take a look. And I walked out with a new car. After test driving the Honda and the Toyota, I couldn't believe the difference. For the same price as the base Honda/Toyota, I was getting a V6, leather interior, sunroof, 4 wheel disc brakes, better warrenty, amazing stereo - the best I have seen in any production car, etc.

We useally buy larger America cars. The Sonata matches them in ride but has less power. The trunk space looked good when we bought the car. But on our first trip found the rear speakers and other stuff really cut into the useable trunk space. Overall, we are very happy with the car and feel it is a great value.

Hyundai has never really been up to par with the likes of Honda and Toyota until 02. The newly redesigned Sonota is almost perfect. One of the smoothest rides out there, it feels more solid than the accord and has more pickup then the camry. The price is not bad either. I would recommend this car anyday of the week. It's roomy, sporty, and I love the shiftronic sport shifting. A very well made automobile at a very good price.

The standard equipment list and aesthetics of the Sonata were what led me to choose buying it over the base model Accord. After 12 months of owning it, I have just a few complaints. I needed new brake pads and front tires at 15,000 miles of mostly city driving. The wiper fluid pump and front headlight fuses needed replacing. And the window trim is already peeling. Also, I've averaged 17 MPG in 95% city driving with automatic.

My wife picked out the car, strictly based on looks (and the fact a Jag is out of our price range). I compared the car to the Camry and the Accord. Based on performance, features and cost the Sonata was the hands down winner. After owning it a while I found it fun to drive, with plenty of power, no matter what the horsepower really is. The airbag recall was a non event. The A/C failed (compressor) and was fixed after a three day wait for parts. No charge, and the dealer went out of their way to make us happy. Makes me real interested in their Santa Fe.

So often we consumers don't get our money's worth. You won't have to worry about that with the Hyundai Sonata GLS 2.7l. This is an excellent car for the money. The car offers many luxury features at a cost of an economy car. Don't forget the warranty!! If you are in the market, I urge you to shop around then look at the Hyundai! You will NOT be disappointed.

After lots of research I finally bought this car yesterday - complete with option package 7 (Moonroof, ABS, Traction Control, HomeLink, cargo net, mud guards, floor mats) and I couldn't be happier. The styling is so attractive and the car is incredibly quiet. The stereo sounds nice though I have yet to really crank it up and see what it can do. The V6 isn't as powerful as some that I've driven but its acceptable. The under-the-hood components are very easily accessible. There is lots of storage and the backseat armrest is a great addition. I highly recommend this vehicle - with that price and these features, you just can't go wrong.

Transmission problem right off the lot Recall from corporate about the side airbags being too sensitive Horsepower misrating 181 should be 170 Missing dome light in rear roof area Hyundai says it will cost $1200-$1300 to install one... My gripe? It should have been there to begin with!

In the past ten years, I've driven Honda Accords and I like them. This year I just bought Sonata, my and I like it better than the Accords we owned before. After we test driving the Sonata, my wife wanted to buy this car instead of Accord, Carmy, and Passat. After I a few days research, most information I got from Ednunds and NSM auto sites, I made up my mind to buy this car. We paid $18,300 for this 2003 LX (at) with sunroof plus tax

Phenomenal bang for the buck!

The Sonata is truly a steal at under $20,000. The leather in the LX is supple, the faux-wood trim looks anything but fake and the automatic climate control with air (I believe polen) filter is a nice feature for lazy driver's such as myself. The car rides smooth and feels solid with just the slightest understeer at higher speeds. The child safety features are wonderful. They made putting my dughter's car seat in a breeze!
