Had the car 13 years, never had a major problem. The only problem is the mechanics they break something so they can fix it. Took to the GMC dealer he said I needed 5000 worth of repairs, than got a second opinion at at the triple A garage he fixed it for 175.00. Took it to Firestone to get the air cond charged they said I needed a whole new air system, 2000. I than took it to the chevy dealer they fixed it for 300.

I purchased my first H2 over a year and half ago and I will forever own a Hummer! I am a female cruising around in a black H2 with a chrome package and the attention that this machine get is amazing. Its so funny to watch people when they pull up beside me at a light and they are truly trying to see who is driving this Boss on the road. Especially females! They look as if they are trying to see what guy is driving and they pull up and see it's a girl!!!!!! So funny and everywhere I go men always comment on its uniqueness. I absolutely love my H2. I feel very safe and it is much more comfortable than I could have ever imagined. When I first took it for a test drive I was somewhat intimidated by the size of the vehicle and knew that it would feel bulky. To my surprise it was the smoothest ride and I felt as if I was in sitting on my living room couch! Maneuvering the vehicle was mind blowing as well! Changing lanes and turns to me is no different from a car. There is a blind spot but an easy fix! Buy one of the small mirrors that can be placed on the rear view mirrors! Of course the gas mileage is not the greatest but we don't purchase Hummers for fuel efficiency! I am a true H2 fan and when it need to be fed, I am feeding her no matter the cost! Since I've had my truck the only thing I have had to replace is the battery due to my after factory remote car starter and alarm draining it. Other than that I have had no problems! I put synthetic oil in and periodically have the mechanics check for any issues!. I put it on the road from Michigan to Atlanta about 6 months ago and it performed like a trooper and luckily during that time the gas prices dropped dramatically so I was good! I am going to always drive a Hummer because I am completely in love with it's style, comfortability and safety. You just can't go wrong with this Beast!

Rear seating is OK for long trips with heated seats, but people over six foot might be cramped on a long trip. We drove 3685 miles in 5 days to Anchorage AK. Two persons, very comfortable. Average mileage for over 7200 mile round trip was apx 16 mpg Average speed was well below posted. Canadian fuel was very expensive by the liter Car was 12 years old and there was not a hiccup the whole trip, or after. Be advised that rear suspension airbags must be replaced at 7 to 8 years according to the manual. I changed mine after 12 years of use.

Working for a used car dealership, I have driven literally hundreds of vehicles. After a long drive home in a customers Hummer h2 I was sold. There is no doubt the exterior design is unique, it really stands out amongst everything else. But being in the driver seat is what sold me. It handles well, drives smoothly, the visibility is phenomenal, and the overall comfort is great. Shortly thereafter, I bought a lightly used h2. After owning it these past few years, I can say I definitely made the right choice. It feels solid in heavy snow and pouring rain, it isn't as hard to park as you might think, and every seat is adequately spacious for an adult.

Good for what it is!

I purchased this '03 H2 as a project vehicle for our contracting company. We are performing a Duramax engine swap. The stock 6.0 V8 gets dismal fuel mileage (5-10 mpg) here in the rocky mountains. The H2 will be used for remote utility work and we wanted an SUV for carrying sensitive equipment into the mountains with a rugged look and feel. Blind spot galore, but has that cool factor and the "get out of my way" look as well.

My hummer is a 2003, I bought it on 2004 used with very little mileage, since then I have enjoyed it. Took it off road and getting it dirty, hauling my travel trailer going camping on the mountains of New Mexico. About two years ago I decided stay off the dirt and rough terrain and started to customized it with bigger sound system, 28" rims and tires, chrome, and lots of more extras. (is very clean. Now I'm the envy of the neighborhood, everybody have something to say about my "hummer":)

Alot of folks tryed to steer me away from purchasing a used first year production hummer. I ignored it and minus a couple of electrical "bugs" I have had to work out, it is a mechanically strong, reliable vehicle. As usual, GM delivers excellence that lasts for years to come. With a little patience, if you love H2's, they are a "sound" investment. All used vehicles will come with minor issues to be resolved. I have owned mine now for 2 years and have done less dollars in repairs than my tires have costed me. By the way, Cooper STT M/S are a couple hundred dollars more, but worth investing in on an all wheel drive...mine with rotation at oil change have lasted me 50,000 and they look TOUGH!

Love my H2

After owning Expeditions, Tahoes etc. this is by far the best SUV I've purchased! I'm extremely pleased with my Hummer in every way. I added a K&N induction system to improve power, but now the truck is a perfect 10 in my book.. I recommend the lux package with the sunroof and DVDs.

My H2 gave its life for me.

After kissing my little boy and heading to work, a woman ran a red light going 50-70mph. My Hummer was t-boned on the driver's side and then due to her speed, flipped onto its headlights and upside down on its roof, sliding 20 feet. The jaws of life cut me out of my totaled Hummer. I suffered only minor injuries in an accident that would of killed me in any other vehicle. I was released from the hospital in time to kiss my little boy goodnight. The emergency crew said buying the Hummer was the best decision of my life.

I have had my Hummer for 3 years. I bought it because my friend let me drive his when it first came out. I fell in love with the comfort and looks. 2 years later my friend was taking an offramp in his H2 and there was a muffler on the road. The H2's inside wheel went over the debris and the Hummer rolled. He was wearing his seatbelt and is not a fast driver, but the roll made him paralyzed. His incident has scared me and I'm now looking for a large safe car like the Volvo S80. Something with a lower center of gravity that is less likely to roll. My H2 was very fun to drive at first, but I grew out of it after a couple months.

When the H2 first came on the market, I knew I had to own one. This SUV has not disappointed my expectations. Fun to drive, extremely reliable, and indestructible. A little underpowered, but what do you expect with a 6000 pound "tank?" During winter months, my friends usually designate my H2 as the "designated" vehicle for ski trips, and when offer for them to drive, they never refuse. I get 13 mpg on the highway at 65 mph. I can fit four skiers inside including their skis.

I purchased a used 2003 Hummer H2 Lux Pack and have never had such a great vehicle. It is the absolute best to drive. Luxury plus sporty. You can pull up at any fancy valet or go mudding if you prefer. Yes, the gas milage is bad but if you just are driving around town and not commuting the HUMMER is by far better than any SUV out there. I think the H3's are even better than all the soccer vans. Before you say I don't like Hummers drive one...you will be amazed.

Car is rusted underneath the car including brake discs, side steps and even inside where rear seat attaches. I have had the car a little over three years. I do not take it off road. I am older and do not have pets or kids in the car. The air pressure device that helps opens the rear hatch broke and the door fell on my head. The plastic rear handle fell off ($500), the interior plastic panel on the door fell off. Last year the windshield wiper motor froze and not from the weather ($600) I like the car and would get another except for all the rust. They had a hard time putting new brakes on because of it.

I have had a wonderful time driving my H2. I don't have to worry about winter driving, as I live in the NE. This vehicle can go through and over almost everything. I have not had any problems with it at all. I feel safer driving my H2 than any other vehicle I have owned, including several SUV's and compact sports cars from two Miata'a to a four Jaguars. It is reliable, and comfortable. The only problem, of course, is the gas milage! I get l2.3 mi to the gal. The worst of any vehicle I have ever owned, with a 12 cylinder Jag. coming in at about the same. I find that other drivers do not tailgate or cut in front of me anymore. And likewise I feel I have become a safer driver. H1 next!!!!

Took it in the mud and tried to get it stuck and couldn't. Nice power and much better handling than Lincoln Navigator. No where near as nice as a luxury vehicle. Hummer is sporty trying to be luxury. Navigator is luxury trying to be sporty. Both failed.

I love my H2. We call it Godzilla sometimes dinosaurus-not dinosaur. Some of the interior things should be of better quality. The backs kinda small for the size of the truck. I had more space in my minivan. I put my seat down and still have a hard time fitting in stuff. I work in home repair, by the way; the truck although has the hauling capacity doesn't have the interior room. But I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I just deal with it. I am 32 and as long as I can step in and out of this thing! I will own one. I love this truck, it's a muscle car and monster truck all in one.!!!

MOSTLY SATISFIED WITH MY PURCHASE OF THE 2003 HUMMER 2, PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2003. HOWEVER ALREADY GETTING A SQUEAKING NOISE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PART OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, NOISE LEVEL FROM WIND SEEMS TO BE EXCEPTIONALLY LOUD COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA. ALSO REAR WINDOW ALMOST SEEMS LOOSE. P.S. I customized mine with products available from Xtremeflow in California and am getting 13-14 mpg city and 16-17 hwy with 400 horsepower! With an overdrive the hwy mileage could get as high as 19 mpg with an additional gear. Set up like this the off road performance is beyond extream and it doesn't empty my wallet in the city.

Awesome!

Nothing compares in terms of styling or "fun" factor(except maybe MINI;-). This vehicle is surprisingly agile and quiet for a TRUCK(SUV sounds so rav4)this size.Drivers seat feels less like a drivers seat and more like a command post, albeit a plush leather clad one.Love this first year model and look forward to future refinements(see suggested improvements).

i enjoy my hummer, this vehicle sits high off the ground, visibilty clear,no blind spots-in the reverse mode, the side mirrors adjusts itself, and when in drive ,the side mirrors re-adjusts itself-very personalized- with a semi- reclinning nature for confort, that if you have back problems, this seating takes the stress off the back and you can actually drive longer in confort, which is the situation for me. the x-tras ,is very expensive-letters and the gas cap covering, will cost you a little more than $ 500.00 dollars. but i feel it is justifiable, after all YOU ARE driving a HUMMER.

I love my hummer !

Comfort, fun, style. You name it. The Hummer has it. Now my family spends a lot more time together doing trips to the Florida key's e.t.c. It's definetly worth every dime we paid for it.( Never mind the smile on my husbands face when I let him drive it!!)

I purchased a yellow H2 at the end of 2002 for the vehicle look and the fun I was told that it was. My wife hated this color and wasn't perticully interested in the Hummer. The first snow I went out with my wife and friends, she was won over quickly. The safety, and ride were a big plus for her. I think it is really a great deal of fun to drive. The ONLY negative is the poor gas miliage but the safety, fun, and ride more then make up for the loss in miliage.

Not nearly as luxurious as the Lincoln Navigator, but much sportier and fun to drive. Nearly impossible to keep clean as there are more nooks and crannies than any auto should have - let alone a off road vehicle.

Had my H2 since October of 2002 and I'm shouting my raves from the highest mountain, which of course I have driven my H2 to the summit in capable comfort and style. My H2 is like a nimble mountain lion compared to my prior SUV (Excursion).Getting accustomed to the stares of admiring motorists and pedestrians was a little difficult at first. Now I know how Princess Diana must have felt. My H2 has always inspired smiles and thumbs up. People just love it like no other vehicle on the road.

I had women and men from 23 to 75 actually tap on my window or just plain open my door to ask if they could either look inside or sit in it. Awesome huh?

Why, oh, why did i pay 60k on a monster vehicle that gets pathetic gas mileage (people need to quit trying to justify this. Face it, $360 a month for gas is out of hand) and is a pain in the neck to drive/park anywhere other than a frozen glaicer. Dont get me wrong, I loved taking this thing off road, but i seldom stray the beaten path (same with almost everyone else who's driving one) so all i'm doing is wasting $$$$. Do your homework people!!! Planning to trade in on a Volvo XC90.

The HUMMER is an eye catching vehicle that is surprisingly easy to drive around town including parallel parking. The styling is quite dominant, so skip this one if being in the limelight is a problem. Great in mud and snow, we have used it some wet and muddy terrain with ease. The H2 has typical GM interior which is somewhat lacking, but who cares? Very comfortable seating and a smooth ride has made this as much fun for passengers as drivers. Great dealer followup.

This is by far the most fun I've ever had with a vehicle. It works great as a daily driver to and from work. Has enough room for trips to the Home Depot or my local landscaping store. And on the weekends I take this baby down some serious offroading trails with my local HUMMER club chapter. Everyone knows that a 3.5 ton vehicle with a 6.0 Litre V8, with Full Time 4WD, and 35" tires is NOT going to get good gas milage. However, it empowers the Hummer to do other things. If you want fuel economy, get a Honda Civic. But don't expect it to tow a boat or scale large rocks with ease.

All of these reviews are complaining about the H2 because it doesn't perform well enough for them ON ROAD. Well, this isn't a truck for the ambitious city prick, it is a hard working and very capable off-road machine. When people say a class of its own they have figured it out. So my advice to the people that buy these trucks is don't expect to have the hottest off-road pickup furnish your luxury and ride needs when this truck is fully capable of terrain that you cannot imagine. NOT FOR THE CITY!! I would like to see your precious "luxury SUV's" get through the mud let alone the 20 in of H2O.

At the dealership, there was already rust forming on the undercarriage. The salesman was not polite and respectful at all. The ground clearance simply is not enough for true off roading. The inside is nothing more than a blazer or a suburban. The use of plastic for the bumpers is not up to par with the price tag. For the price range, aluminium should be used for the construction. A 6.0L engine should be paired with more than 8 cyl. To top it off, you can't get it in a standard!

Love driving this vehicle. Simular creature comforts to the Cadillac Escalade however, some creature comforts have been lost that are small but needed like a place to hang your jacket or load from the cleaners since there are no hooks anywhere and the center console is small inside and not functional such as light or plug in or tissue holder, no light in glove box.....little things My only other item is the acceleration is poor along with mileage. this thing need an additional 100 horsepower from the factory.

Purchased this vehicle after owning 2 2001 Suburbans. Drove in complete comfort from WI to FL. (27 hours straight) Averaged about 12 mpg or about four hours between gas stops. Seating was very comfortable but the storage, even with rear tire mounted on the back of vehicle, was slight. Could use more enclosed storage compartments similar to those on the Suburban. Overall it is easy to park and very capable of everyday use.

I loved the H2 the first time I saw it on the net early last year. Ordered one even before test driving it. Test drove one and loved it even more. Had mine for 5 months now and I wouldn't drive anything else. The drive is excellent. The mileage isn't really as bad as I expected. 10/gallon? What do you expect? It goes up to 16-17/gallon on cruise control at 55-65 mph. Got it initially for the looks: a 10, For the drive: a 10, All wheel drive is a plus: a 10, and I live in snow country: so far a 10 for that as well. If you can afford one, GET ONE!

Every stop that I made was full of curious onlookers that wanted to see the interior, engine, etc. I can't tell you how many people (total strangers!) I let sit in it! I've had my H2 for about a month and I love it. The dealership treated me like a king, took a whole group of owners off roading and then treated us to dinner. What an incredible buying experience. I bought my wife a new Mercedes a couple of years ago and all she got was a free keychain. HUMMER Of Albany was awesome, Tim was the best, my HUMMER is incredible. I can't say enough good things.

We've had a lux w/ air susp & sunroof for a month now (2400 miles), and have very few complaints. Suprisingly practical as an everyday City driver, but it's not for those wanting an "easy" family hauler. Get a Volvo for that. Creams our old 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee off-road (haven't even had to crack 4-Lo yet), and is amazingly well-mannered on-road. Now, TC2. It overrides the normal traction control that would bring any normal SUV with a "modern" TC system to a halt in snow because they apply brakes when they detect slippage and you need a certain amount of slippage. The TC2 button allows for that slippage (just hit the button!). Huge difference!

Ex-rangerover driver. Noise level in the interior is higher than that of the Range Rover. Had to make a couple of extra moves to park in a crowded mall parking lot. Limited visibility was also something to get used to - like watching a letterbox version movie - after being used to the Range Rover's awesome openness. (still need to get used to the annoying tire in the truck!) Even I could've done a better job designing the interior. One would expect a fancier and more tailored look in a "luxury" SUV. A GPS navigation system should be standard. Definitely enjoying the COOL factor! Great on the highways.

I have had month to drive my Hummer and am generally and favorably impressed. My wife will be happier when I get the spare mounted on the back end. I found one potentially serious safety problem. THe front wheels are so far forward that when you hit standing water on the road during a heavy rain, it tends to plow the water up and forward in thick sheet that completely blinds the driver. The first time it happens is scarey. One needs to be prepared for this event since you will then experience 2-3 seconds without forward vision on the road.

After reading many reviews, i was surprised to find th A/C and stereo work great. Have logged over 2,000 miles in last 12 days, and find the comfort and drivability amazing. It gets a lot of attention from all age groups. EVERYONE that said I was crazy for buying a Hummer has changed their opinion. It is simply the most fun I have ever had driving anything. The gas is a drag, but it comes with the territory. It is VERY quiet considering it has such large aggressive tires and the aerodynamics of a shoe box.

I've had my Hummer for 10 days. The gawks from people of all ages is distracting to downright funny. It's everyone's favorite new SUV. Mileage in first 1000 mi is 10 mph. Ride is very smooth - a lot like my Suburban. Heated seats will scorch your butt. Would love a full third row seat. Interior is very comfortable. Gadgets are great. Took too long to receive from factory. Ordered in late June, delivery in early October. Could not get sunroof.

Had mine a week. It drives great, looks great, feels great. No a/c problem here. Boze system sounds good, but admittedly not great. Sufficient power to merge onto freeways though some may wish for more. Gas mileage 11 to 15 mpg, but look what your buying -- a Hummer! It handles easier and parks easier than a Suburban. The inside mounted spare tire is not the distraction I thought it would be, although exterior swing mounting is available. Watch out, though, it is 82 inches high with luggage rack (check your garage door). It's not a Yukon, or an Escalade -- good grief, if that's what you're after buy one of them. This is a HUMMER.

Some of the complaints on this board seem bizarre now that I bought my H2. To the guys whining about the Air Conditioning, I live in the desert, it was 110 yesterday and the H2 kept me as cool as any vehicle I've been in. (OPEN the vents and click the "recycle air" button). Regarding the sound system: Sounds great with PLENTY of power... Nice quiet ride overall, more comfortable than I expected. To the guy who called it "The Queen Of Pigs", I'm missing something... Obviously it's big, but the ride's smooth and it handles well for it's size. What did he THINK he was getting, a Hundai??

Absolutely love it. I came from a Lexus LX470 which of course is more refined, quieter, smoother, more reliable, and also a great off roader, but it was not fun. This is an absolute blast to drive. I always wanted and H1 but thought its size and interior was not usable. This was the perfect blend between Hummer H1 and a livable usable vehicle. Feels like a load, but drives nicer than I thought it would. Has great character and my kids love it. I guess I am a big kid and that is also why I like it. Hummer and Gm did an excellent job in a short amount of time. Hope the reliablilty is livable.

The power, I must talk about...to all those who say that the HUMMER nees a large engine...good luck. Before I purchased my H2, I wa talking to the dealer and he mensioned that the 6.0L was the largest engine that they could fit in the bay. What I would request is to tune the engine o about 310 hp and 380 lb/ft of tourque, this would lower its top speed, but it would increase its acceleration off the line, and give it a better ability off-road. I mean seriously whos going to be driving this thing 100+ mpg...with the H2 my prayer have been solved.

This vehicle lives up to its anticipated styling and peformance. The looks are extraordinary. The drive is smooth and very comfortable. The accelleration is surprisingly good for such a massive vehicle. During my initial of-road trial I had to pull a Jeep out of the mud! The H2 took fairly steep inclines, downed trees, rocks, etc without any signs of stressing the drive-train or suspension. It's not a vehicle for everyone due to the size. Environmentalists won't like the 12 mpg on the highway and 5-6 mpg off road!!!

Generic. Looks great, but then you sit in it and everything is generic. Hyundaiesque plastics and no room to be had. Ride isn't impressive either. Only buy this if you are so into vanity that your ego needs looks from everyone when you drive around. You're better off buying a Suburban. It's tha same low quality product.

If you are going to take a trip, you have a choice, either luggage or the family. There isn't room for both. The exterior spare tire mount is both cumbersome and expensive ($1,300.+) The roof rack is functional, however you will need a ladder to acess it. Overall styling is good, but, it appears that GM relied on to much plastic and veneer. Fuel mileage leaves a lot to be desired, mixed city and highway 10.5 mpg.

I also have an Expedition and the Hummer is a lot better ride. I enjoy everything about this vehicle (except the gas mileage). I think the sound system is great and I do agree that the inside is a lil too plastic for my taste but it doesnt bother me that much. Turns heads at every corner. Easy to drive after a few hours on the road. Room was a concern, but no problem. Lots of room. Tires will develope wear patterns sooner or later. I wonder how the ride will be then. Large all-terrain tires will create more noise as they wear. It's a super SUV and I love it.

I actually decided not to buy a 2003 sage green H2 with the fully loaded Adventure Package due to the interior. The dashboard looks great but is completely made of cheap, toy like plastic. Very hollow and easily cracked. The headliner (w/sunroof option) is way too flimsy. Power from the engine was okay; I didn't expect the same performance as my 4.7L Grand Cherokee. The stereo system does not sound very good at all. There's absolutely no front soundstage. Don't know why the tweeters on the A-pillar are aimed directly at each other!

I expected more power for the money. I expected more colors (int. & ext.)for the money. I expected a more substantial air-conditioner for the money. I expected a more solid front end (nose) for the money. The truck was billed as more tamed and agile for everyday driving. This is not the case. It is clearly more suited for off- roading. I need off-road and everyday driving balance. As one other reviewer suggested, I shouldn't have bought it! Great Vehicle. The ride is excellent, the power superb and the handling is GREAT for a big SUV. The luxury on the interior is wonderful. Only minor drawback is the spare tire mounted in the rear cargo area. This is a big tire and it take up a lot of space. Of all the SUV's out there, nothing compares in price, ride, quality and comfort to the H2 Hummer. If your looking for huge cargo area I would have to say, get a suburban.

The H2 is designed to be a serious off road truck. If people do not need that capability, they should not buy it. Many people purchased this truck without seeing or taking it for a test drive, and now they are blamimg the truck because they made an emotional, uninformed purchase decision. Yes it's heavy, and does not accelerate like a sedan, but 0 to 60 in under 10 seconds is plenty fast enough for highway travel. The interior is a little too "plastic", but that's GM. Overall I think they did a great job for those who use an off road vehicle and enjoy a little comfort getting there.

Based on the non-negotiable price ($55, 000 fully loaded), the vehicle is underpowered, the ac doesn't cool & the stereo didn't have any kick. As a woman, I felt safe in the vehicle, but it was overshadowed by the inability to accelerate and merge. Don't get me wrong, the truck looks and it "climb" over things, but how many times will I actually take it off road? Maybe twice. Stop production and re-engineer the vehicle before it is deemed with a wicked nickname (ex. Ford Exploder). I understand the H2 is heavy, but the engine should have been properly sized.

The H2 missed the mark. It's grossly underpowered, the sound system is lack- luster at best. Regarding AC, you can get colder by standing in front of an open refrigerator. I understand this is AM General attempt to tame a "wild beast" .. It seems several engineers were absent from design meetings .. (power-plant engineer, HVAC engineer, sound system engineer).. The new Hummer has been presented in a kinder and gentler way. It has attitude in terms of looks, but nothing to back it up ..(engine, AC, sound system).. Sales goals for this vehicle should be revised down sharply.

I've been work with AM General for about two weeks now. My job is to learn how to drive the H2 on AM General's off road course. Starting monday I'll be teaching others how to drive it off road. After getting behind the wheel of this monster, you won't want any other truck! I had the chance two days ago to take the truck to the Indiana National Dunes and try it out on my own. It ran over trees with ease, it did 100ft. dunes like speed bumps. I pulled up next to a guy in a Jeep Cherokee. I said, "Hey man, nice truck. My mom has one just like it." He then wanted to race me; so I tore hime a new rear with the H2's 6 litre V8 with 316hp.
