I have wanted an S2000 for several years and finally purchased one last spring. Owning the car is a little different than I had imagined, but not in a bad way. PROS: the car is absolutely thrilling, extremely direct/controllable with a perfect transmission and exciting 9000RPM engine. Great MPG (25-28), outstanding handling, very fun and agile. Makes every shopping trip feel like an adventure. It is a very special, hand built car and feels like it through and through. CONS: Terrible highway car - loud, obnoxious and buzzy. Very tight on the inside, feels great on a curvy road but not on the freeway. Burns 1qt oil/1.5k mi, but I drive it hard.

This car is an absolute pleasure to drive everyday. The handling is razor- sharp and predictable. The engine is great, not a lot of torque but the gearing is great so its not as noticeable. I personally think it is a very comfortable ride. I've driven tuned s13's and supra's and this car is every bit as fun. If you're looking for balance this is the car to own. Almost perfect from the factory, and the car is absolutely beautiful.

I have liked the S2000 since I first saw it, prior to the first sell. It has pleasing, timeless lines and handles quite well. In fact, when I drive other cars for short periods, then get back to the S2000 - that is when I really appreciate how it handles. True, the car is not for everyone, but that is what I tried to avoid in the first place (a vanilla car). I look forward to having this car for another 10+ years - may be get a nice paint job when it starts to show its age!

Not a great daily driver

I bought this car in October last year after test driving a couple and falling in love. Bottom line this is a very stiff car that is noisy and not a lot of fun to take on trips much over an hour. It performs well for a stock car, but isn't overly fast in a straight line. It does have a good suspension, but the stock tires are expensive and downright scary in the rain. This has been relegated to a garage queen that I only take out when the top can go down. If you can afford a fun weekend car, it's great. For daily life, I found it unbearable.

Had car now driven in every road condition the tcs is awesome you can spin the car in a tight circle or slide into a parking spot. You really have to learn to drive the short box tranny I rarely use 6th gear. I keep it at 4500 rpm at all times you will forget about the sorry low end power. Vtec is to be used with gas pedal completely engaged and completely engage it again when you hit 9250 to shift it has enough power then. No need for mods Honda did good on this one. I owned a 2003 mustang cobra and I like the s2000 a whole lot more.

Hot wheel stickers are on the rockers in front of the back wheel because it's Yellow and Hot. I've driven this roadster for 4yrs and yes in the snow too! If the snow isn't too deep it goes like a 4x4. This yeller car is the most fun I've had driving. Having driven everything else that goes fast this car is an everyday rush! 55000 miles and no problems. The most "attracting" car to the public that I have ever owned. The engine is bullet proof and 70 mph is all I have ever taken it to. It corners like a yellow Twinkie on rails. I personally think it's powerful enough and boogies when I wind her up. I told myself to never fall in love with my cars but this love is a marriage made in heaven!

This is my 2nd S2000 and it's just as reliable as my first. (It was a 2002) I drive it hard every day and it's still as tight as ever. The super quick steering (13.8:1) and driving position along with the best transmission feel in any manual production car make this quite the impressive ride. Under 6000 RPM it's perfectly fine around town and to get the acceleration you just need to use the delicious transmission. Every thing is tightly screwed together, the top never leaks, the car feels very stiff, especially for a convertible. Brake pedal feel is firm and the stopping distances are excellent. This car doesn't need VSA: it's called your right foot and steering wheel!

I just love my Honda S2000! I thought the thrill of driving was one of those things that you lose over time. Turns out it's just making sure you have the right car. The S2000 is a sporty 6 speed manual that turns head and garners lots of compliments. The hardtop is easily removed and replaced. I'm very impressed by the control panel as everything is well laid out in fingertip reach. No more taking your eyes off the road to change stations. Overall a great car especially if you can find one slightly used and get a good price.

This car is an adrenaline rush every time I drive it. It negotiates tight curves at high speed like it is on railroad tracks. I especially like the feel of the wheel and drivers seat. It is as though I am sitting in the cockpit of an Indy formula car. It will rachet up to 100 mph so fast it will take your breath away and handle the same as though you are doing 35 mph. I would buy this car again in a heart beat. It measures up to other roadsters costing far more money.

The S2000 is an amazingly fun car to drive, not to many cars can compare to the amount of fun that the s2000 can provide. the seats that hug you in all the right places, a suspension that will get you around corners like you never thought possible and an engine that spins to 9000 rpms an its a convertible. its not the most comfortable or quiet ride, at 75mph at 4k rpms with top up, it seems like your going faster than you really are. down low in the rpm range it seems like a civic which can be annoying, but get into vtec around 6k rpms an it feels like your driving an F1 car. the steering feels light an quick an it feels like a go-kart, quick, agile, an light. an amazing car!

This car is just about perfect, but know that it is a small, purpose-built sports car and does one thing very well - put a smile on your face. Better ride than a Miata but can still be choppy because of the short wheelbase, can out-accelerate 99% of anything on the road, bulletproof reliability, corners incredibly, chassis rigidity normally associated with steel I-beams, beautiful engine sounds that get even better the closer it revs to 9K rpm, even the top seals well. I even drive this thing in the snow with Blizzaks and it is useful. Like most Hondas, for the price this car is a no-brainer. Like a pair of favorite jeans, as the miles roll by this car just fits me better and better.

Get in the car and sit in the comfy seats bolstered just enough to hold you while you pull .94 G's but still comfy enough for long trips and press the start button. Bring the top down and go. Just starting it up is fun, you floor it down the street and before you know it you're at 60 mph. The lack of low end torque makes you think an then you hit 6000 rpms and you feel like youre in a F1 car, you're ready to shift when you realize you still have another 3000 rpms till the 9000 rpm redline comes up. I own an 04 M3 an a Lotus Elise and this is by far one of hte most fun cars Ive ever driven, for 31K it doesn't get much better than this.

After a 3 month search for a new sports car, I went through Z3's and z4's, miatas, corvettes and the like. NOTHING compared to the S2000. Combining legendary Honda build quality, a high revving solid as a rock motor, a lightweight and rearwheel chassis, this car is just a blast to drive. It has ample room for long trips, a driver oriented cockpit that is easy to navigate, and never leaves you longing for something more. If you're looking for a fun car that is reasonably practical this one will not steer you wrong.

This was more race car than I wanted. More like a slot car than anything else. Great fun to drive. I am 5'9 so car was comfortable. It was not a car to take on road trips or heavy traffic though. Lots of road noise, even for a convertible. I think the car was more quiet with top down. There is a reason they put a volume control on the steering wheel, you are always turning up the stereo to hear it over the road noise.

After purchasing my 2003 S2000, everything else seems soft, slow, and lazy. Any sports car must have three things: beauty; the S2000 owns some of the most agressive angles ever on Honda, performance; at 9000 rpms, nothing comes close the excitement or impressive poise of that engine, and excitement; the S2000 translates each factor of the driving experience flawlessly through the wheel, pedals, and seat. Yeah it goes and I mean, it goes. The ride is a little choppy and the interior is a little cramped (it forces me to keep the clutter down because there's nowhere to put it). But man, you won't find a more fun car to drive in this price range! I saw it in the Honda show room and fell in love! And it's 6 speeds! If you want to turn heads everywhere you go and have people beside you at gas stations ask you about your car, then buy it. I even had some people driving a Civic and sitting beside me at a red light ask me what kind of Honda it was because they had never seen one before. And they were mighty impressed.

Have had my S2000 for a year and use it as a daily driver in Newport, RI so it sees rain and snow. It is everything that you want in a drop-top sports car. Unique styling, great engine, gearbox and suspension. I've had an NSX, a Corvette roadster, and a 911. This car ranks right up there with all of them plus it's less expensive to purchase and requires no maintenance other than to change the fluids. Forget the torque and a killer sound system--a 9000 RPM redline makes up for those things. Buy one and get used to grinning again!

Car rides rough and is not easy on the back if you're over 6 Ft. Not biult for drag racing but fast over 6K RPMs. So beautiful I'm afraid to drive it. Some annoying rattles in roof.

Fabulous car, fun to drive, excellent performance and quality. Great gas mileage, low maintenance costs. Short trips, long drives or anything in between. Relatively large trunk, bigger than 350Z, easily holds weekend luggage for two and a case of wine from Napa, just take the wine out of the case. A real blast on twisty canyon roads.

I have had a great experience with this car. It is fast and very responsive. The S2000's agility has gotten me out of a few potential hazards. It's comfortable and an all around fun car to drive. The stereo system is lacking but at slow speeds is tolerable.

After wanting this car for two years, I finally got behind the wheel of one. The throttle is more responsive than any other car on the road and the steering is point-and-shoot! An absolute blast to drive with an amazing 6-speed. Forget the fluff, this car has the bare minimum and manages to have a greater "wow" factor behind the wheel than any other. The 9000 RPM redline is unbelievable! You must experience it to understand it. Stick to the 2003 and older--the redline is higher and the suspension tighter--it stays true to the purpose of such a pure sports car.

You know the saying "if it seems too good to be true, it is"? Well my s2000 is the first and only car I've ever had that doesn't get old. The more you drive these things, the more you get into them. It fits like a glove, it's NOT soft, and it feels like it reads your mind. You don't just choose your line through a corner, you decide which pebbles you want to tie together to make the line you want. This is just flat out fun and there's not enough room here to describe it.

i love the car..i get many compliments on it.after all they only make 5000 of them a year and people dont really know what kind of car it is..but the motor blew at 4k miles and honda did not want to warranty it..the dealer ships were very poor on fixing things and three times i brought it in for service..they damaged my car...from the bumper to the fender to the front lip spoiler..bronx honda...and curry honda..the best service i ever gotten is rushneck honda in tarrytown...and honda told me that they did not want to warranty the blown motor..

I have 11400 miles on this vehicle and the clutch is sliping to the point the car is not drivable. Honda is saying it is normal wear and tear to have this problem. They are charging me $1,025.00 to put in a new clutch as they will not cover it under warranty as a defect. In 35 years of driving, I have never had a clutch go out in 11000 miles. As far as i am concerned Honda is not living up to its hyped up reputation. I am selling the vehicle and buying one that I can drive and have a company stand behind it's product. Randy pope

The screaming 9000 RPM engine is a heavenly sound that awakens me every morning to prepare me for another day! I've heard criticisms that the engine evenually wears on one because of noise and high RPM requirements. Quite to the contrary, after 5500 miles, the four cyclinder's thrilling sound still awakens the teenager within me. Suspension and ride? Absolutely incredible! No shakes and not as harsh as the M Roadster. Tight and firm! Build quallity? Second to none! No irritating returns to the dealership. Looks? Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I'll take it over BMWs Z4 any day of the week.

This was the best car I have owned by far. The handling is superb. I always have the top down...as long as the sun is shining. Unfortunately, I have to put it up in the winter but it just makes it all the sweeter to drive in the summer.

I've had it for 4 months now and everytime I step into the drivers seat and turn the key I love it even more. I raced it all summer(including 8g neutral drops)and the only car that beat me was a e55 amg. I paid for those neutral drops in late sept when my clutch blew and i paid out 1800 for a whole new tranny =). I've read the reviews and people complain about heated seats, power seats, blah blah. This is a true sports car, period. If you want all that stuff the s2000 is not what you are looking for. I really feel the only sports car that can give you the same feeling as you feel in the S is a ferrari

The S2000 has been a very good purchase. It is, as one should know, not a practical car--ie, you do not plan a month long trip with several suitcases etc to go along, but it is a fun, racy, get-up-and-go car that just makes life a little more enjoyable.

The 2002 S2000 was a great car but the 2003 seems to be just a little nicer. The seat is far more comforatable with lots of leg and hip room, stereo sounds little nicer, interior lighting is better design, and other little things like that. Still handles like a dream, shifts smoothly, excellerates quickly, it is fairly quiet inside considering it is a convertible. I am tall and with the top down can still wear a golf visor without the wind whipping it off my head, which my 2002 used to do. Had my silver 2002 for a year, but when I went to get the oil changed they had a yellow 2003 on the showroom floor. Love at first sight!

I love my 2003 S2000. I have to say that this was the best purchase I have ever made. I have a silver/red interior that looks just as hot as it rides. People constantly wave and stop me at red lights to share their opinions that this vehicle is spectacular. I agree with them. I utilize this car as my "Sunday Afternoon" vehicle rather than my primary mode of transport. In FL where the rains can be torential, the S2000 rides a bit low for flash flooding roadways. Also, I have found with the spoilers added on, the ride is so low to the ground that any road debris is a danger...2 times in the body shop to date. I love my S2000. You will love yours too.

This is a kick ass automobile. Not only does it look good it performs to the max. Forget about the boxster, this car is the choice. People look at it and don't know what it is, but they want it. And the BMW? try fitting your clubs in the trunk - you'll need a tow package to carry them. Not with the S2000, mine fit perfectly! What else could you ask for. Handles the curves like a slot car.

i do not own but drove friends, this is definatly my dream car to buy in the near future. It is amazing from every aspect. With its most powerful engine per litre in retail production (120h.p/litre) it can definatly perform and keep up with alot of stuff out there, by the way the Dodge viper only gets about 50 h.p per litre for comparsion! The handling on this car is impecable, wow it can ride on the road liek its a train on rails, so responsive also. Ya, I can go on and on about my day of fun in this car. - worth every penny of the 30-some thousand dollars it costs.

There can't be a better place in the world to test yourself than the twisting, turning roads of Tennessee. I meet a lot of other roadster drivers here and the talk is always how the S 2000 drives. I can't compare it much because my only other sports car was an antique Porche. This one screams, hugs the corners and goes where you point it. There's no frills in this car to take up your slack except antilock brakes which I appreciate. It's trully a sports car and will test any drivers skill but also instills confidence and makes you want to do it all again. It makes your dopamine levels surge when you do it right!

After more than 3 months, I still get a big smile when I see my red Honda. It is incredibly fun to drive, and it amazes me that I have avoided a ticket! I love it more and more... Fundamentally it is a driver's car. Comfort is for driving, nothing more. It's not a lot of fun with the top up since you are so low to the ground and it is very tough to see to the right rear of the car. But with the top down, you are transformed. You feel like driving a souped up go cart. It turns so tight, accelerates so well. I turned 51 this year, so this is my mid-life crisis car, and I don't have a second of regret. Enjoy....

The preformance of this car is amazing. It handles like the cars in the $60,000 range. The handling on the curves are its better features, it tuck into the curve, like there is a groove in the road made for it. The more you challenge the engine the more it likes it. The high red line makes for a different drive then any other vehicle I have owned before. It has two personalities, one is a well built nice driving little two seat with a sweet look, then your get it into the 6.5 RPMs and it is a monster. It can scream through curves. red lines at 9000 RPMs. it is a car you have to "REALLY Drive" to understand and appreciate!

This is my third summer as an S2000 owner and the excitement hasn't diminished one bit! It drives and performs like new with the exception of the rear tires. Those had to be replaced at 13,500 miles. The tread was completely gone and I'm not an abusive driver.

My S2000 is simply an eye stopper in looks and performance. I frequently drive Hwy 1, from Monterey, CA to Big Sur with lots of curves that are high above the ocean and dangerous cliffs. The 50/50 weight distribution and handling qualities are exceptional. A man walked up to me stating, "Man...that car looks fast just sitting there. What is it?" I just smiled and said, "Its a Honda" It's tough on tires depending on how you drive. I only got 15,500 miles out of my first stock Bridgestones... I'm now trying Michelins Pilots. Watch out! Let the tires get nearly smooth on the back and you will water plane, out of control, in the rain. Drive safe.

The title sums it up. It's just all flash. Noisy but no bang. This should be a $15k car, more a miata clone. In the past year of owning this car everything has had major problems. I'm on my 3rd clutch, it drinks oil not gas, the paint in chipping\fading in many places and the engine already has trouble starting!

I've now had my s2k for just over one year (11k miles). What a year! This car is an absolute blast. Under 6,000 rpm, the car is a relaxed pleasant ride. Rev it into Vtec range and it screams! And unlike so many other high-performance roadsters, the S2k is reliable. To really appreciate this car, you must try autocrossing it! The S2k truly comes alive on the track.

I thought this car would be like my Miata, but with more horsepower, but almost everything is better except maybe trunk space and the Miata's classic analog dash - But, the S2000 has better SO-2 tires, silky smooth 6 spd trans, ultra quick elect pwr steering, ABS brakes, seats with better support & nicer leather, power top, better fabric, quicker more precise handling, HID, smoother engine low end and WOW! incredible top end to 8900 RPM - Did I mention the engine!

Ever since I saw this in 2000 I knew I wanted it. THen In 2002 when I purcased it I didn't know what was in store for me! I had only seen the outside of this car but this a lot more to it. I think the dashboard is coolest thing. And when your shyifting through the gears and get up to max hp it is so cool!! And can you believe it only has a 2 liter engine. All in all The Honda S 2000 is the best car. Vroom vroom

The 6-speed is a bit tricky at first, but once you get it down the acceleration is amazing. Easily under 6 seconds to 60. Everything is so tight on the car, screwed down to not rattle. I was actually in the market for a C5 when I drove an S for comparison. The C5 was a hulking rattling monster compared to the S, with little noticeable difference in acceleration and much better cornering.

This car is amazing! It is a little tiresome in stop and go traffic, but when you hit open road it is the best. I absolutely love when the VTEC kicks in and you get thrown back into your seats. The screaming engine at 9000 rpms will take your breath away.

Picked up my Silverstone S2K in April. It is a blast to drive, even when commuting! I commute ~90 miles daily and love the ride regardless of the weather. Good road manners in the rain, sticks like Velcro on the dry road! Only 1 speeding ticket so far....

Overall the s2000 is the most fun convertible under $100,000 to own. This car has everything that the the others have, but for under $35,000, which is why I am the proud owner of one. The Honda S2000 had me from the first time i drove it. Its a true sport car feel with a 9k rpm revving motor that screams when you get on it, but is quite and perfect for regular traffic driving when not in Vtec. I can not put down anything about the car except for a poor factory stereo system that is hard to hear with the top down. That was an easy fix for me with an aftermarket deck and some tweeters on the pillars. I love it and reccomend it to anyone.

Switched from an 2001 BMW M5 to a 2003 Honda S2000 and it has been a blast to drive since day one. It has perfect balance of power and handling. Only "flaw" is the stereo/cd but... who needs stereo when you are driving with top down? I rather listen to sweet sound of VTEC.

Absolutely the funnest car ever built. Takes me back to the days of my MGBs, only with the comforts, conveniences and reliability of a Honda. Quite a few people don't even know what it is! But they are all impressed with its looks and styling. Don't use for everyday commuting and grocery store runs...this is strictly a fun, take-to- the-mountains, "getaway" car. As being a convertible doesn't attract enough attention, the S2000 is quite the head-turner. Because of Honda's limited production of the model, there are few on the road and people are always doing double-takes. It's an all- around great car - fast, fun, beautiful, reliable. Being such a hot- looking, two-seater makes it almost an impractical luxury but, hey, it's Honda - so "impractical" is just not possible!

Since purchasing my 2000 Honda S2000 more than two months ago, I find myself often driving the long way home from work. Everything about the S2000 just feels right. From the exotic exterior to the fit like your favorite jeans interior, the Honda S2000 is an amazing car. I traded my 2002 RSX Type-S in for a Honda Certified 2000 S2000 with 12 thousand miles over two months ago. Being that the car is my daily driver, I was concerned that the while the car would be fun to drive, it would deliever a rough overall ride. So far the car only feels slightly stiffer than my last two Honda's (GS-R and a RSX-S)and is very easy to drive around town in.

The S2000 is not for most people. It is a car dsigned for a true car enthusiest. I've driven most 2 seaters, the TT, Boxter, Z3, Z4, and the new 350Z. Each of the cars has their own up and downs, but for my money it's Honda all the way.

If you want attention its a good car, one thing I will warn people about is the ride quality, its a race/track car, not a luxury car. You will feel the bumps on the freeway all the way to the ear drum. If you want something that feels nice/comfy, get a G35. If you want something thats hardened for mountain roads get an S2k.
