Ok. There has been some issues. Over the past 14 years of ownership, things will go wrong. A/C went out in 2014, spark plug shot out of cylinder in 2013, and I replaced a coil pack/ Alternator in December of 2016. Little rust under the car, not noticeable. The car is great. People complain about "it is not fast". Honey, please don't buy a 3-row full-size SUV and expect it to pick up like an AMG G-Wagon. These cars are now dirt cheap which is awesome. This car at 6000rpm's when you give it some gas will sound fantastic. MPG is poor, but once again honey, this is not a Prius. The car is heavy, great in the snow considering no TCS. The car looks good as well. As I look for a new car, it will be a Ford or Lincoln no doubt.

We bought our Ford Expedition used. 170,00miles on it. (Eddie Bauer 4X4) We are now getting near 200,000 mile and the SUV runs like new. It preforms with a quite quality that we have not found in other vehicles. My wife and I both love the performance. We planned on trading after we decided whether it was the style for us. That won't happen for quite some time, as this vehicle has exceeded expectations in all ways. The 5.4 liter motor uses no oil between changes and the gas mileage is 15 city and 17 -18.5 highway. I would recommend one of these to any one looking for a reliable vehicle.

I bought a 2003 with 70,000 on it in 2014. I was going to get a brand new vehicle but this was to good of a deal to pass up because it was a 1 owner vehicle and was literally in new condition. I hadn't had the vehicle for 2 weeks when a drunk driver rear ended me while I was sitting at a red light with my 3 year old and 10 year old kids in the car. Drunk was doing 45mph and the impact was tremendous. He was driving a full size Chevy truck and it was completely totaled. Expedition had 1000 dollars in damage. Not only was I amazed but the police and firefighters couldn't believe it. This thing is a tank! Mpg is awful but I knew this before I bought it so no surprise there. It rides good and no problems at all. I did change the serpentine belt just as a precaution due to its age. I'm very happy with this vehicle and the 3rd row seats that fold into the floor are a huge plus.

Truck has over 220,000 miles on it, only thing major replaced is the fuel pump, the windshield... 3 times, and a few batteries. Runs like a champ, has a weird issue with the mirror adjusting to an unknown position when unlocked with wireless remote and driver power lock went out at 180k.

I purchased a 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition in 2006 with 37,000 miles on it. Aside from routine 5,000 mile oil changes using Pennzoil Synthetic Motor Oil, I have only had two issues. At 125,000 miles, I replaced all eight spark plugs with basic NGK Iridium Spark Plugs, and the engine runs smooth and plenty of power. The alternator was replaced at 165,000 miles due to low output; however, was changed as preventative and never caused mechanical breakdown. I am a DOT engineer and occasionally tow a bobcat on a large dual axel trailer and it tows better then my co-workers 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi pickup truck. Would recommend this to those who want a solid, dependable, SUV!

Bought my expedition new in 2003. Its been the best truck i ever had!! Barr None. I have 272,000 miles on it. No engine or transmission problems what so ever. The alternator went out at 150,000. Ive put several sets of tires on and a few batteries. I change the oil every 4,000 miles, and a tune-up every 125,000 or so. We pull our boat with it like theres nothing behind us. We lay down the seats and camp in the back. we've hauled stuff in the back countless times, Thank god for all the room of our full size Suv. I rented a tahoe for a week while on vacation , with 25,000 on it. What a piece of Crap. like driving a tank.

Putting a new engine in mine, cheaper then buying a new truck. I had lots of problems with the truck. Bought it new. I like the way it drives and handles but the repairs will make you go bankrupt. When the warrenty runs out get rid of it quick. WILL not buy another ford.

Purchased in 2006 with 38K on the clock, the truck now has 145K with no major repairs to engine, transmission,or 4WD system. Considering that I keep more than 1000 pounds of library book samples and other cargo in the truck on a 24/7 basis, I've been surprised as to how serviceable it has been. The fold flat third row beats the heck out of the removable seat on my van. The ride and handling lend credence to most of the professional reviews and road tests. In one emergency maneuver, it definitely saved a few lives! I did have trouble with the front rotors warping, but cross drilled rotors on the front solved that problem for good. I have no plans to sell this truck until it hits 300K.

Bought this car with 26k. Love to drive it. Drives like a compact car, so much more comfortable. MPG not bad considering it's size. Now have 96k, has run great only problem was replacing the transfer case. Now it runs great again. Will buy another one once this one quits. It's been a very sound car all around.

I bought my truck new, with in the first month the power seat driver side stop working, the window arm bar driver side broke and cracked the glass, the tires was rubbing against the fenders, the coils on the cylinders all went bad back to back, i was left stranded a couple of times, the roof where the channels are at have major corrosion spots and when i put the transmission in drive i hear a loud "bang",I did tell the service manager about this everyone else heard it except him. So after all the kinks and fights was said and done and many years later i still have the love of my life my 2003 expedition with 52000 miles! and i am know a certified mechanic!

Traded in 1999 Expy for the 2003 Expy back about 5 years ago with 50k miles. 5 years later, and about 100k miles we are looking at going to the newer 07+ Expy's. NO PROBLEMS in 100k miles. I just replaced all 8 plugs, all the idler pulleys (2 were bad), belt, fuel filter (was pretty bad and just started leaking). Overall, great reliable truck. Leather held up exceptionally well.

This is my first SUV and I love it. The electric 3rd row seat is fabulous when I have to carry a bunch of children at a moment's notice. Also, the whole family can go on a road trip in ONE vehicle. Drives and handles like a dream. Great maneuverability in tight spaces, for an SUV. It does have some electrical quirks. The side view mirrors never keep their "favorite" settings. Also, when going in reverse, they will move so far down that the pavement is reflected. Clicking/thumping noise when the rear A/C is on. No one likes to replace the spark plugs because it takes so much labor (damn Triton engine). But overall, I will continue buying Expeditions as long as I can afford to.

Has been an overall good vehicle except for the numberous mechanical problems. The only problem in the warranty period was the drive shaft (needs replacing again, but won't. it rumbles when turning from a start). In the past year and a half I have replaced the cluster, intake manifold, catalytic converter (Ford puts 4 instead of 1). Still not working right. This is causing oxygen sensors to go bad several times. Both rear A\C motors replaced for the thumping sound. Gas mileage is awful, but could be a good truck. Did I mention a ton of front brake dust?

6 years of reliable performance.

I can only find one negative thing about this vehicle and we all know what it is. With a 5.4L and 300+ hp engine you can't expect to anything better than 18-19 mpg on the hwy or 13-14 mpg. Things I do not think about when pulling a 8000 lbs trailer or loading up the back with over 1/2 ton of "stuff". All these and a very comfortable ride makes this a a great people mover, stuff hauler, trailer tower, etc. Did get better mileage (2-3 mpg) after changing to a high flow air filter.

Awesome truck. Ive taken it all over Texas and Mexico, bought it new and now has about 100,000 miles. its been chewed up and abused by South Texas terrain but still stays faithful. seals still good after years off 105 degree weather. handles great in sticky situations (evacuating in high flood waters, hurricane winds, ect.) I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking in to it.

I bought my Expedition with 112,xxx miles on it and now has 130,xxx. I have not had any mechanical problems with it. The only 2 Problems I have had with it is the rear a/c makes a Clunking noise and the Paint on the back hatch started peeling off with is common my friend has a 2008 Expedition EL and hers is starting to bubble now to. I owned a 02 Mercury Mountaineer before this and the expedition beets it hands down. Feels much safer, and with being 16 years old my mom feels better about it to. Ride is very Smooth, parking is easy, driving is fun, I have been loooking to buy a new suv with less miles but have not found anything I like better, I will keep the expedition to good to give up!!!!

Bought this SUV new. It's been a great vehicle. Very comfortable and very reliable. No major repairs. Has over 102,000 miles and still original brakes. Not even a light bulb replaced. Not a good city car (just too big), but what a treat for road trips. Bought a new, smaller SUV this year and just couldn't bring ourselves to sell the Expedition. Hwy mileage not too bad driven reasonably. We average 16. Can't find a used one anywhere around where we live. If you have one, keep it! BTW, if you replace your tires do not buy the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S. Ride is terrible compared to the Continentals that came on it. Should have taken them back.

Our Expedition has done my family great over the last six years. It has survived three young children and a lot of driving vacations. It was a great family hauler with the fold flat third row, DVD system, and the heated and cooled front seats. Followed all recommended services done by dealer. Had problems with premature front tire wear until I took it to an independent tire shop to do alignment and balance every 5000. Interior rattles became a problem on rough roads after a few years of use. Gas mileage is bad around town, but better than expected on highway, as long as you go 65.

I bought it new, within four years of ownership I had several minor to major problems with the SUV. Air condition would "clunk" when you turn it on. Side mirrors always adjust when unlocking. Alternator gave out. the 3rd spark plug blew out. water would always leak into the vehicle on the driver side windshield handle area when it rains. now the radiator is loosing fluid somewhere. lots of front wheel brake dust.

When I purchased this car, I was so excited! But, the ignition gave me problems and Ford kept telling me nothing was wrong with it. Then, the interior headliner was rattling. They fixed it and it kept rattling at high speeds. Then the buttons to open the windows fell through the hole they were supposed to be secured in. Several years later, the DVD player wouldn't work and the CD player didn't work either. The brakes needed changing at 20,000 miles! OK, so we had a great deal of problems but I like this truck. However, I would not buy another one! I will buy a Honda or Toyota SUV next time when the economy is better.

Bought it brand new in 03. After about a year or two the autolock on the doors quit working, rear wiper was sticking, and plastic molding on doors was badly sunfaded. Had to replace brakes twice with less than 100,000 miles. Every once in a while when you start it a clould of smoke puffs out of the exhaust. When you start the car with the AC set to On you hear a loud "klunk". Just replaced front wheel bearing and still need to replace back one mechanic said. For not even having 100,000 miles on it we've done quite a bit to it. Looks sharp. Hoping to squeeze another 100,000 out of it. Don't know about getting another one. Engine is loosing it's "get up".

Excellent vehicle. Only problem we have had was the rear air conditioning motor, which was covered by the warranty. We love this thing and it seems to love us and what we put it through. From dirt roads to snow and pulling our boat, it does it all, without difficulty. The only thing replacing our Ford Expedition will be another (EL Version), once we're free of payments for a few years.

Well I have to say I am very pleased with this SUV. I have owned it for year and a half now. I bought it with 52k now 69k. I had one problem with the rear wheel bearings which was covered in the warranty. It drives great, tons of power, very roomy. I go fishing a lot and I can go anywhere off road in any conditions. I will say that the p series tires stink with this SUV in 4x4. The all terrain tires are the way to go. As for the gas mileage I think it does great. I went to visit my brother 400 mles from me and I filled up when we left and again about 100 miles from his house. I have allways been a GM guy and I am used to seeing 60- 80 dollars at the pump to fill up. I will buy a Ford again

We purchased our first 4x4 as a pre-owned certified vehicle and were originally sold on the Ford as compared to the Suburban based on the interior layout and fold-flat seating. The vehicle was needed to tow some heavy loads off-road and it has performed superbly in this role. The only complaint is a somewhat noisy (whiny)transmission low gear transfer case and the unpainted plastic door protection outer trim that is prone to oxidize. We have had no major mechanical problems and only a window drive motor to repair.

Love the vehicle. Lots of storage room and comfort. Awesome on long trips with the kids if you can survive the cost of fuel. Still gets at least 12 in town and sometimes as high as 21 on highway. The biggest complaint to date though, is the brakes/rotors. With less than 57,000 miles on the truck, the brakes have been replaced twice and the rotors now three times. I have only had this a couple of months and it's ridiculous the amount of problems I have already had with this thing. It stinks on gas, I put in $20 every other day, $300 a month. The mechanical probs I've had are: the mirrors, they constantly move when turning on and off car, they even did it while Reversing (can be shut off), rough engine idle, and motion detector is really sensitive even when there is more room. RV mirrors won't go back into position, they look up at the sky when I get in my car, so I have to adjust often.

This is a great truck. The only problem we've ever had with it was after 2 years we had to replace the alternator, and a few months ago we put a bad tank of gas in it and it ran badly, but once we got fresh gas, it runs great. Pretty peppy, even with the 4.6l v8.4wd works great. Tires stunk, replaced with Michelin xlt. Interior is nice, and roomy. Got a nice ford 9.75" rear axle and a ford 8.8 in the front sweet. Could use a cv joint in the rear driveshaft instead of the u-joint, but no biggie. Can handle mild off roading pretty well. Just hit 44,000 miles, still running great. Towing is fantastic.

I have never been a big fan of domestic vehicles due to previous problems. I have a 2003 Ford Expedition with FX4 package, 5.4L V8, captain chairs in the middle, 3rd row seating, skid plates and tube bars all factory parts. I currently have 120,000+ miles on this vehicle and never, not even once have I had any repairs done on this truck. It has truly been rock solid since the day that I bought it. My only complaint is the fuel economy but its expected. I have a large family so needed something this size. But all in all, this has been my fav SUV and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Driving and owning this 6th E.B. model in a 4-wheeler is no disappointment. My husband has the 5.4 in his Lightning and happy to say I can still see his tail lights when we leave a stop light. Don't do it often but nice to feel the supreme power and handling in a really big truck. The interior appointments include nav, DVD, htd seats and awesome sound. Greenhouse is supreme except for blind spot at A & B pillars. Easy to miss objects while backing up so like rear sensing device. Overall, Ford has done a 100 on this vehicle when it comes to design and features. General tires awful. Replaced with Goodyear Forteras for outstanding performance, handling and traction. Will get another.

We purchased our Eddie Bauer in June of 2005 with only 14k miles on it. We dubbed it the "Big Cat" and we always "take the cat" when we go in it. After purchase, we took off from Ohio to Yellowstone with a family of 5 (3 teens - one of them 6'3 185) Very comfortable. Now we have 80k+. Only minor things. I bought the 100k warranty. Ready to use it for 2nd time. 18+ mpg on trips - 15+ mpg around home (hilly countryside). I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Watch the Contenential tires - plys go bad. Choose tires wisely. I bought more aggressive ones this time and cost me over 1 mpg.

We bought this SUV when our first child was born as the 'family truckster' for taking everyone and everything to the beach, grandma's house, etc. This vehicle is what it is: a giant mover of people and stuff with the aerodynamics of a cinder block. If you don't ask it to be anything other than that, it's fine. Has been reliable and comfortable to drive, with good seats, a soft rear independent suspension and a nice tight turning radius. Holds my family (we have since added a 2nd child) and all our stuff. When we get where we are going and the stuff comes out, the rear seats fold up and we can carry more people.

Fully loaded with passangers and luggage, and pulling a 20 foot ski boat; it still gets almost 17 mpg (4.6L engine). Love the 4 wheel disc brakes. Has a very tight turning radius, very easy to park.

First brakes and rattling, supposedly the rotors and brake pads were replaced but still extermly shakey. Twice the suv comepletly died on me while driving.I lost everything and had no power at all. Nearly was hit and had my children in the car! Now it is in the shop because cheap continental tires blew while driving 70 mph on the interstate and did extensive damage to the body of the car. I am fixing this suv and cutting my losses! there is no way I would ever endanger my family by putting them in this vehcile ever again! BEWARE!!!

We tow a 22ft travel trailer all over illinois, packed full with kids, pets and camping stuff. Extremely pleased with power and comforts on the road. We had an Expedition with the smaller v8 and it was not nearly as pleasing when we hit the open road. Zero mechanical problems as of yet, but its still low mileage to me. If your going to tow do not undersize your SUV or truck. That will definitely take the pleasure out of your travel.

However for the truck being a 2003 I still get people coming up and saying what a very nice looking vehicle so for my family counting me there are 6 and i still have room for 2 more so this room and comfort is unmatched.

After having my Expedition for 1 year I was driving down the road and it went completely dead. I almost got hit from behind. I went to start it up while in my garage and it wouldn't start. I have had this vehicle towed 2 times. I am scared of it. After driving down the freeway and having it just go completely dead with no power I am going to trade it in on a foreign suv. I cannot see out of the right back side; you are almost completely blind while you are driving it. It is really fun to drive and I hate to trade it in but I do not think it is dependable. The gas mileage is terrible; it cost me $54.00 to put premium in it. I have to fill up every week and half. Don’t work. Stay at home.

If your considering buying an Expedition verses an Explorer - I would suggest the Expedition. The engine is much better than even the optional V8 on the Explorer (I noticed the difference towing a trailer). The windshield is much higher giving you better viewing. The third row seating has much more leg room. U-Haul will not rent to any vehicle with Explorer on it (ALL MODELS). The Expedition has all the room you could ever want and the power to tow.

Very nice design but I learned never to purchase the first year after a remodel. Have had several things replaced that I would not expect to have replaced on a new vehicle. Dealer is so-so with their support. Would not replace the brake pads, but they replace the rotors once and resurfaced the rotors the second time. The problem was with the pads and after 25,000 miles, I replace the rotors and pads with Brembo rotors and ceramic pads. What a change. The brake dust is gone. Repaired a short in the system, front headlight seal was bad, replaced the steering wheel due to poor leather, the front seat replaced due to the wear of the leather. All in all, will trade in for a new one.

I've been driving SUVs since 1973. My first was a GMC Jimmy. All have been 4x4 since then and I've had seven in all since '73, mostly GM products. This Ford Expedition has absolutely topped 'em all. It is very comfortable, handles great and turns much better than my last SUV Tahoe. Third third row seat ROCKS. The independent suspension is da bomb shizzle! From the beginning the Electrical, RSR system failed causing undo wear to tires and transmission. Never addressed! Noise leaking through door and window seals? Windshield Wipers lasted 1 year? Brakes lock up now and again? Power steering warning light went on and a fix went out from Ford and the dealer just pulled the fuse? Large rattling noise heard by shop foreman and never fixed? All were under the three year or 36 k miles but never addressed. Bought the SUV with hopes to recover the large down payment loan to value. Ordered new Ford King Ranch came in late and not as ordered? Salesmen very nice but how does that help me as I lost my buyer for my Ford SUV!

Vehicle drives much better that 2001. Really like the folding automatic rear seats. Problem is that bugs are not out of the first year. Brake dust everywhere. Fix by Ford cost me $900. Mirrors broke and needed to be replaced. Whine in rear end and when one presses on the gas the air conditioning fan motor slows. Standard tires not good. Didn't look at Edmunds technical bulletins until a few miles out of warranty and dealer said tough luck. Gas mileage 13.6 MPG. In the main a nice riding truck and if you want one don't get a 2003. The a/c cuts out during highway drives. Now the gas tank makes a popping sound when you shut off the engine and the auto dimmer doesn't work on the rear view mirror. I've had the side trim panels replaced after 20k miles because they were rotting out. Seat belts wouldn't retract at 30k. Replaced them. The radio reception is terrible on AM and FM. Ford had the right idea when they redesigned the old Expedition in 2003. They got many things right like the first independent rear suspension in a large SUV, the flat rear folding seats. But, the build quality and never-ending list of technical service bulletins for chronic problems is frustrating especially to those accustomed to Japanese reliability standards.

It's the family prime mover and it's been across the USA twice and up and down each coast with no problems. The economy isn't the best, but it pulls a trailer with ease and also isn't affected with gear on the roof. The interior is great with loads of room and even adults can use the third row. We have the FX4 which turns out is pretty rare, even dealers are surprised to see it when we take it in for service. If it wasn't for the front brake dust issue, it would be perfect. It's been in for warranty on leather seats, rear seat frame rust, and roof paint too thin.

I love my Expedition/ I thought it may be difficult to get used to driving a large car but it drives and handles excellent. I have an infant and it is great for hauling all of his stuff around. We also recently went on a long trip and it was great; lots of room and the gas mileage was much better than expected. We have carried everything from people to lumber in this thing and have never been disappointed.

This truck has been a nightmare since the beginning. The problems have been from brakes squealing, the driverside power seat motor going out to the rear end being worked on four times. We even got the Ford rep involved and she claims that the truck is fixed even though the clutches in the rearend are still messing up. We now have 17,000 miles on the truck and we are going to have to eat several thousand dollars in order to trade it. We have resulted to putting poster boards on the truck with lemon signs on it and driving it around Oklahoma City

Despite my resolve to never buy a big SUV due to MPG issues, my wife talked me into this one. In fairness, it is a nice truck, good to look at, fun to drive, comfortable and seats 8. Had a van, but she tired of it after almost 10 years. MPG is about 14 city, 17 highway (with no lead foot). Throws a lot of brake dust, especially in front. Good on long trips. Bought with 33K miles & put more than 10K on it so far with no cost to repair other than rotors on the rear. Fronts had been replaced before I bought. Seems early for rotors. Truck gives feeling of power and sits high enough to see everything. If you don't care about mpg, get this or the Eddie Bauer.

This car has met all my expectations. Plenty of room and creature comforts for a large family. Great performance when pulling a 7,000 lb. trailer, handles it with no problems. Only downside is poor gas mileage in city driving conditions, better than expected when on highway (18 MPG). I would definitely purchase this vehicle again.

This SUV can do all the things a large pick-up can do but still has a soft car ride, not to mention the air suspention and the indepedepedet rear suspention. It also has about twice the size of leg room in each seat, compared to yukon or the Toyota seqoia. It also has a styleish design inside of the car and out side of the SUV.HEated mirrors and good derability it is the best truck/ SUV ever, had a seqoia and yukon last year and didnt like it at all, this can beet , any other car out there.Plus to many small luxurious things to list.

I purchased it new in Dec. of 2002. I had lot of problems. By 5,K miles I was on my thrid set of tires. The tires were cupping, aka "road force". Basically the tires are cheap Continental tires, and they can't hold the weight of the Expedition. So you get vibration. Ford paid for the replacement tires. When I had to take it in for a thrid time I refused to take it back unless they put on a different brand. I got Michelin tires. Good to go..I had troubles with brake dust & squeeking. At 20K miles Ford paid for all new rotors, calipers, and pads. WAHOO. The dust is GONE. I had to get the rear axle replaced as well. I think it is good to go now with 34K on it no problems. Knock on wood.

This 2-wd SUV has done just what we bought it for: Haul kids, dogs, luggage and groceries long distances in safety and comfort. It has been without fault mechanically. The 4.6 liter V-8 has provided adequate power and reasonable mileage (close to 20 mpg on long trips -- 15 around town). We like the way the truck looks, and its interior design has proved to be very functional and flexible, made of materials that are wearing well. Finally, it has great brakes, super visibility, and the IRS make this large machine both comfortable and secure on the road. Would we buy another? Yes.

This is my 4th suv. It drives like a box on wheels. The brake dust is really bad on the front wheels. You really have to punch it to get going from a dead stop and the gas mileage is poor especially when using the A/C. I have had it in the shop once already for the air conditioner.

Big mistake. The interior ceiling came loose, power window on drivers side went out, rubbing noise from left side of vehicle when making sharp turns, rough engine idle that Ford can't seem to fix,"buzzing" noise from stereo that the technitions at the dealership say is normal. This truck was definatly put together on a Friday afternoon.

Love my expedition.Very disappointed in the road and wind noise for a $45K vehicle! My dealership took care of the black brake dust problem and replaced with new brakes-Ford has admitted problem, but left it up to consumer to pay for the new brakes. At 7,000 miles started having a vibration in steering wheel, got worse and now at 17,000 miles tires are cupped out! Trying to get something done about that! Tires have been rotated every 5,000 miles. I really do love everything about my expedition but these few problems. I'm sure that my tire issue will be resolved too...I have an awesome dealership!

For the money this vehicle is very disappointing. Not enough power. Poor mileage, BUT better than my 98 Expy. Does not offroad as well as previous model (less clearance). Brake dust is BAD! RATTLES LIKE CRAZY! Been in the shop 11 days within the first 11 months. Its in the shop today for the THIRD rear differential AND to re-tighten all the rattling doors. Going to hire a lawyer and sue under the Virginia Lemon Law which protects consumers VERY well. Last Ford I will EVER buy. Every Ford I own ends up in the shop. Toyota's and Honda have never had 1 problem, NOT ONE! Quality is job one? Right!

My 2003 EB Expedition is a wonderful vehicle! However, Ford does not seem to want to take responsibility for the poor brake design on these models. If you have ever noticed the excessive brake dust on the front wheels of many 03 Expeditions - it causes a problem with the pads and rotars. I was told by the mechanic at Ford dealer to keep my wheels cleaner and would not be a problem. I wash the car every week and seems to still be a problem. Perhaps, Ford should admit the errors of their ways and help out those that spend $35K+ on a "Luxury SUV".

Very dissatisfied with the Ford Expedition. Front brake dust will drive any consumer crazy. Fuel mileage is below average for the rating, about 10 MPG. Quality isn,t there from the wind noise in the windows to the rubbing of the wheels when you turn sharp. Agree with the back trunk room and the groceries falling out when you open the back tailgate. Most of all the trade in value after only a short time.

We've found the quality and comfort of our Expedition to be truly superior, even when compared to luxury class vehicles like BMW and Mercedes. We were drawn by it's new styling and added features, like the power fold- down rear seats and reverse warning. But after we purchased the vehicle, we really fell in love with it after taking some long trips and its superior ride and handling characteristics really became evident. We now have about 35,000 miles on it, yet it still seems like new. The leather and carpets are holding up very well, while wear to components like tires and brakes is excellent. We expect to keep the vehicle for several years.

The new redesigned Expedition is the best over all full size in my opinion. I used to drive Chevy's and GMC but not after this new Expedition. I've had it only one year it's an awesome machine! GMC is way behind with the Tahoe/Suburban. If you're a GM fan like I was, just go test drive the all new Expedition.

This is an excellent vehicle. Plenty of power and great ride with rear IRS. The DVD player is great for the kids and is easily out of the way when not in use. Steering wheel controls for the audio and A/C are convenient and safer than hunting around the dash. Owned a Tahoe before this and will never go back. The keypad on the driver's door makes it easy to lock it and leave it running to warm up on cold mornings.

Comparing my 2001 Expedition to the 2003, the ride has signficantly improved. The dashboard seems somewhat boring and could be improved in the future with enhanced looks and perhaps more woodgrain. Seats seem to be a little smaller and legroom on drivers side seems tighter. All in all, I'm happy to have the 2003 Expedition, having previously had a 2001 Expedition and a 1999 Navigator.

Very disappointed! Had the oil pan gasket replaced at 3000 miles and now at 6000 miles just had the main rear seal replaced.Front tires constantly dirty from brake dust(really poor design). Climate control doesn't seem to run as smoothly as my wife's 2002 Mercury Sable. I had a !998 Ford F150 Lariat and never had a problem with it, wish I had it back.

This is the most disapointing vehicle we have ever owned. It's not that it is a bad vehicle, but for the money we paid we had certain expectations, and it just does not live up to them. The rattles started at 250 miles and have got worse since then, rattles in the doors, roof, dash and seats. Trim pieces that don't fit. After six visits to the dealer some are resolved and some never will be. The good news is that there is a partial fix for the doors, there is a TSB from Ford, which consists of replacing the door locks and door seals, unfortunately it took 4 trips to the dealer before they found the TSB.

Outside body cladding at bottom of doors rattle which is very noisy at 70 mph. I fixed with duct tape because dealer doesn't know how to repair. Already had 4WD go out after only 5000 miles. Good looking truck, lots of towing capacity, but Ford needs to work on quality. My next truck will be a Chevy.

I have owned Ford SUVs since 1990. This vehicle is the best so far! The only issue that I have is the mirrors do not adjust properly when I use my auto settings. Just need to take it to the dealer. I would also like to see them add Day Running Lights to the Eddie Bauer version as part of the default package. You pay a ton of money for this truck you should get DRL for free!!!

It was either this or the Suburban. But almost all of our friends own a Suburban, and the style is ho-hum. But the Expedition is fantastic -- great bold exterior. We originally selected this car because of the independent rear suspension. Even though it's still an SUV, it doesn't feel as much like a truck as the Suburban. The 5.4L is a must. The power-fold and roominess of the 3rd row are excellent. It is missing the power recline, but the memory option is great for 2 drivers. The backup alert is also a must -- already saved my wife from running over 5 people who weren't smart enough to wait for her to back out. And best of all, it probably saved my marriage ;)

The only thing I would change would be the engine size, when towing a large boat it could use a bit more power.I should have purchased the (5.4L) insted of the (4.6L).

The new design is top notch, congrats Ford. I have been towing a 6000 lb boat each weekend this Summer of 400+ miles (10.5 MPG). Plenty of power, new independent suspension is awesome, rear axle sways (&bounces) when towing - expected though since it is no longer a solid axle. Hiway MPG avg is 19. Turning radius is better then previous years. The lower center of gravity is noticable when cornering. It looks like we are going to keep this one for awhile.

Compared this to the Chevy, Toyota and GMC SUV's of similar size. The excellent third row leg room was important to us with tall sons. We went with the captains chairs in the second row. Easy of entry is great. Sound system is just ok. DVD is nice for the long trips. We liked the Toyota Sequoia but no captains chairs so leg room in third row was poor. Gas milage about 13 in city so far. All in all very happy.

I took this vehcle to the dealer on July 7, 2003 for vibrations at 45 to 50 mph. They checked front end alignment, tire balance, replaced rear end, drive shaft, u-joints and engine and the vehicle still has the vibrations. Ford has offered to replace the vehicle with a like model and forgive the mileage. I have submitted a request for arbitration under the Lemon Law. I have found that Customer Service from the corporate office, customer service and local dealer to be disgustingly indifferent.

Hated to do it, but after numerous problems with the 4wheel drive not disengaging, I had to get rid of my vehicle. I loved that SUV, and had owned the first 1996, absolutely loved it, too. Very disappointed in Ford's "focus" on correcting my problem after my trying to resolve the situation since 2 weeks after I purchased. Only kept vehilce for 2 1/2 months! Regret the problems, and regret having to go to a GM product! Could not stand the brake dust all over wheels, and down side of truck...espcially a white one!

So far I have found the ride and handeling to be exceptional, especially for a vehicle of this size. The one issue was a very slight vibration intermittently in the steering wheel. I wanted the 2002 Chevy Tahoe. But my wife suggested we test drive the new Expedition. Externally I thought the truck was better looking then the old style but still not as good looking as the Tahoe. But the interior sold me. I loved not having to take out the third row of seats and that at 6'1 my knees weren't up to my ears when I sat in the third row. Then with the conversation mirror and the flexible seating arrangments plus the ride quality I was hooked.

The '03 Expedition is a nice vehicle, overall. The independant rear suspension allows it to ride like a large car and is excellent off road. It is smooth and reasonably quiet. The 4X4 system, when working right, is also very good. I have had mine in the shop for 4X4 problems over 6 times and it is still not fixed. The interior is well thought out and is pleasing to eyes. The towing ability is great and my confidence is high with the large brakes, the brakes are excellent! When it is behaving, I love this truck.

Traded '00(4x4,sport,fully ldd) for '03 (2wd,AdvTrc,DVD,climseats,safcanopy,tir epres,pwr3rd). Ride handling ovrall noise much improved. But less room frt&bk, worse pwrseat controls, still no pwr reclin & ergonomcly incorr bk seat handles for pulling seats up. Ctr console stor slots, dash cuphldrs & cargo net anchors removed. Ovrall Ford created attractive pkg but as usual can't seem to get details right. For $40K+ car safety options should be std or at lst easy to find, but near impossbl. GM&Toyota SUVs better ovrall design IMO & qlty/reliablty as witnessed by issues posted in Edmunds. Would not buy this car if not for rebate but glad I did anyway.

Ford Hit a homerun with these vehicle. Compared to the Tahoe and Yukon the Expidition is King. The Third seat alone tells you which engineers were using their brains. Ride is wonderful. Replace the Air Filter with a K&N Airfilter($50) and I get 1 mile per gallon better plus some horsepower. Eddie Bauer Eddition has Cruize Controls, Radio Controls, and AC controls on the wheel. Dual keypads which will set the seat and mirrors according to which key pad unlocks the doors. Once again I will never go back to Chevy or GMC

We just purchased this after someone rear ended our '99 Jeep Cherokee Classic on the highway at 55 mph. We felt bigger = better safetywise (at least it FEELS that way). It was between the 2003 Explorer XLT and this and for the price the Expedition won hands down. I find the Expedition to be big, but not cumbersome. The towing capacity cinched the deal for us. The looks of the FX4 package swayed my husband. The fuel economy has me a little scared but after being in an unfortunate accident, money is not the biggest concern. Anyway, my Cherokee mpg was never THAT great to begin with...

Since I've purchased the car, I felt so secured and superior with driving the car. I've had good comments from on lookers and good phrases from friends who rode in it. The ride is similar to riding a luxury sedan and it has given me a good driving view in relations to seeing everything in and out of the car from the drivers chair. The only thing that I'm concerned about is the gas consumption. Or it's just an unfortunate time when gas prices soared up.

I bought the Expedition instead of the Explorer is head room and size. The Explorer does not have adequate headroom for this 6'4" dad. I found decent deal on a used '03, but it has the 4.6 liter V8. I test drove the 5.4 liter and couldn't tell a big difference in power, however the 5.4 was new and not broken it yet. Otherwise, I really enjoy driving this vehicle. To me it doesn't feel as big and heavy as it really is. I took some pretty swift turns in a parking lot and it really hangs in there with bit of over-steer. The confident feel of the vehicle is what sold me in the first place...plus it's HUGE. I like that.

luv the truck. interior stylin has being my 1st, pot holes look out. I am crashing curbs and bruisin the pavement of every major downtown street. overall handling and performance is excellent which goes contrary to most editorial opinions. this monster for his size can sway and swerve his way through "S" turns almost like my jetta v6. heard lot of people complain about engine lag going up hill -- use the over drive (OD) button. it will get you up and over most inclines in half the time.

I have not owned mine very long but I have owned a Ford for the last 6 1/2 years. I upgraded from the truck to the Expedition and I am very impressed. I have not been in it long but already the aesthetics are very pleasing and impressive (seats, interior design, creature comforts, exterior design, clearance, and wheels, etc.). It rides great even if it lacks the power of its competitors. I have not driven far enough to comment on mechanical reliability or long term road performance. If it holds up like the F150 truck and I believe whole heartedly that it will, then it is another winner from Ford. Gary

First week we had it we drove to Vegas, there were six of us in the car. Man, this thing gets along for its size, that much I can tell you. Before deciding on the Expedition I did a lot of research both on the Internet and in person. I narrowed my choices to the Tahoe and the Expedition. I chose the Eddie Bauer Expediton and it was a great choice. It drives like a dream and the handling is very tight. On the road it has all of the power I need. The fuel economy is higher than what my research lead me to believe. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I really have enjoyed the Expedition so far. It has made a great tow vehicle and is very comfortable. The ride is good compared to others within its class (I evaluated both the Chevorlet and the Toyota). Things that impressed me the most initially were the interior design and the exterior design. As I have driven the vehicle I really have begun to appreciate the overall package. I would recommend the Expedition to anyone looking at this type of vehicle.

I was getting the rattles and I took it in to get them balanced and said I had "road force" That meant my tires were not wearing properly. So I have had 3 new set of tires in 6500 miles!!! I like the truck alot but at 1700 miles it shouldn't have to be in the repair shop so much. So far the front axles have been repaired to prevent a growling sound. It then developed a gear whine at 30 to 40 mph. First they replaced the transfer case which didn't fix it. Then they replaced the differential which did fix it. I hope this doesn't indicate what's in store for us in the future. Maybe an extended warranty would be a good investment. I tow a travel trailer and really like the way it handles the trailer.

Had the thing for near five years; it's only a lease so we've got to turn it in in a few months. Love it, the nice firm seats are a plus but it would be nice to have a soft passenger seat. Only for short drives, that is. Great power, roomy interior. Great buy. The new ones don't have th same spacy feel. These trucks can go over everything. When I first acquired this I ran over every curb. I have a son who loved me flooring it so I did on a strait. It's got power, but lacks accelleration

Ford really got it right. This thing looks great and thrashes the Yukon I traded on ALL fronts. It has more leg room in the third row than the YUK. It handles much better and has no "roll" when taking turns. It handles more like a import sedan than an SUV. They say the YUK has more "punch". Well I can't tell it. This EXPY is just as quick and has much more torque than the Vortec.

We went shopping for a Toyota Sequoia and ended up buying a Ford Expedition. The two primary reasons for NOT buying the Sequoia were its 3rd row seats and NO LUMBAR SUPPORT for either front seat. The Ford excels over the Toyota in these two areas, as well as having a better ride. Having 4 kids, we needed all the neat seat configurations available in the Expy. If you have one in a car seat, Ford made the center seat on the 2nd row just for that. It slides forward 11 inches to bring the little munchkin right up between the drive and passenger. Which reminds me of the ONLY OPTION on ours; captain's chairs up front (because we didn't need seating for 9).

Bought my second EB EXP and the power seats/heated stopped working at 50 miles! It took FIVE tries to repair/replace and I finally filed a Lemon Law against Ford. They settled ASAP. When does the Quality go in? I thought it was BEFORE the names goes on! Too many problems, read the ownership boards. Ford is not in this family anymore, they couldn't care less about loyal customers. I even sold my stock and most of my family has gotten rid of their Fords. Guess we have to go to the foreign market for a dependable product.

I own a 2000 F-150 and am amazed how much better the turning radius is on the Eddie Bauer Expedition. Sound system is superb. Heated and air conditioned seats give a new meaning to comfort. Appears to be well built with not a single problem found in the first 4 months (knock on wood).

This is our second Expedition. The '97 went 51K flawless miles. I hated to trade it in until I drove the 2003. It has great power (5.4L), super comfort and capacity and great workmanship. Safety improvements alone justified the switch (Advancetrac, side curtains, side airbags, radar backup). Consumer Reports rendered itself obsolete with its biased review. The supposedly top- rated Honda Pilot is nowhere in this league or class.

When it came time to shop for a new SUV, I thought it would be a Toyota. While the Sequoia is a nice vehicle, it came down to the interior comfort and the cargo area versatility. The power-folding 3rd row seats simply cannot be beat. The interior is roomy and comfortable, the ride is nice, and while engine performance could be improved upon it is what I expected to get.

I purchased a 1999 FORD Expedition4X4. At 7500 miles the transmission began to slip. Parkway Ford in WS,NC couldn't keep it from slipping. Because of our loyalty for 26 years, they gave me a KILLER! deal on a 2000 Eddie Bauer 4X4. Thank God I purchased the extended warranty. At 53000 miles the engine went bad. After replacement, I attempted to trade for another Eddie Bauer 4X4 which would have been my family's 22nd Ford. You can imagine my suprise when they only offered $19,000 for trade in. Lucky for me the local Chevy dealership gave me $4,500 more to purchase my first GM product. Shame on you FORD & Parkway for not honoring a loyal customer.

Our $33.5 Eddie Bauer 5.4L 2WD model offers plenty of power and handles very much like a car, little hint of the 5,600 pounds around you. I considered the 4.6L but recommend the bigger V8. The $700 extra and 1 MPG sacrifice are worth if for all but a few drivers. MPG over 8K miles has been 14-17, averaging 16 C/H. Ergonomically correct for this 6'2" driver throughout, this is one of Ford's best ever, drive it and you'll agree (I don't work for them).

This vehicle was everything I expected and more. The ride is shockingly smooth for such a large truck and the engine is outstanding. It just pulls and pulls. The advance trac system eliminates the need for 4wd in all everyday situations. Snow is no problem. The only reason to buy the 4wd option would be for true offroading. The interior is designed well and extremely comfortable. At 6', 230 lbs, even the third row seat is comfortable. It is packed with great features and everything is solidly built. I love it.

I thought this was the perfect car for our family with two kids. The car as a DVD player and captain's chairs. After a few hundred miles an obnoxious intermittent rattle appeared in all windows. Ford did a service bulletin and replaced the molding on all windows. The rattle persists in the driver's window. Dealership will not repair and Ford Corporate says no. BUYER BEWARE!!! The interior workmanship is the worst in the industry. DO NOT buy this car. A $42,000 car should not have this problem!

All seats very comfortable. 2nd & 3rd rows fold flat - - no removal needed to accomodate cargo. Got ours for $8000 below MSRP (Dallas). Wife is primary driver and she is thrilled. I got my expedition b/c my lincoln ls was a lemon and ford bought it back. I have had my expedition since Aug of 2002. The heat/cool seats have not worked since I have had the car. First it was the drivers side and now it is the passenger side. This past Saturday was my fourth time for the passenger side. I sat for 3 hours for them to tell me it still does not work. Now they are going to order a new seat bottom. If it still does not work they will have to replace the whole seat. Ford sells their products as being quality products. Also, my memory seats don't always move the side mirrors to the correct position.

The 2003 Expedition is greatly improved frame and body from earlier versions. The 5.4L motor and tranny are still the same as earlier models. Overall I'm very satisfied with the new Expedition and it tows my boat well. Good fit and finish on most areas. I installed a cargo mat in the rear, so the 3rd row seats are not really a factor for me, but they are there if I need them. Who decided to put cup holders down by your feet anyway? That is the biggest obstacle to entering and exiting this truck!

One of the best purchases I have ever made, next to the house. There is plenty of room and it truly does seat 8 people comfortably. The amount of space in the back with the seats folded down is great! I can put my Expy in the garage, albeit with the sideview mirrors folded into the truck. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and she loves it too! She can see out as we are driving, she always wants to ride in the truck!

Moving to the larger vehicle wasn't as difficult as my wife and I expected. With 7 years experience driving a mini van she had no problems driving the Expedition around town or parking. The kids have plenty of room and the fold away back seat makes it easy to get groceries. During our Christmas trip to MI from Norfolk, VA we were caught in a blinding snow storm. The 2WD Expedition helped us feel secure and handled the extreme weather conditions very well. One thing I would maybe do over, "Get the larger engine." The 4.6 liter seems a bit weak at times. This may only seem a problem because I drive a 1986 F-250 351W, most of the time.

This is the 2nd Expedition I buy. This first one I bought...Transmission went out in 1 day! (Dealer Replaced) This new one has spent more hours in the dealership than in my garage. I have had the starter go out, the seat heaters don't work, the 4x4 turns on by itself (module replaced 2 times), Needs new brakes at 25,000 Miles, RPM's go up and down when coming to a stop, and guess what...it is in the shop right now for transmission problems. I am looking at a Lexus right now. I would not suggest this vehicle even for my worst enemy. Buyers beware. For the same price, you can buy a more reliable import luxury SUV!

The most disapointing thing about my new Expedition is that I looked at everything first and really thought this was the perfect truck for my family. So many well thought out design details. Unfortunately the thrill ended after about 1200 miles. I took it into the dealer with complaints about a HUM in 2WD that turns into a loud "ratcheting thunk" when switched to 4WD. I was handed a service bulliten that said simply. "Ford is aware of the problem but does not have a fix, do nothing" Message boards are full of the same complaints but Ford continues to sell defective trucks. This is my 3rd Ford SUV and probably my last.

This is a big beast! No problems with quality, and the car drives very smoothly. The car, however, lacks all character and personality and one tires quickly. The large mirrors are awesome but the second row seats are very disappointing given a vehicle of this size. Gas mileage not bad for this size of vehicle. I miss my Land Rover!! BEWARE: If you want to hand in your vehicle (off the lease early) the dealer can charge a $1000 mark-up to another dealer wholesaling the truck. This is completely UNFAIR.

I just traded in my 1999 XLT for a 2003 EB and I am extremely impressed with the overhaul. The fold down seat option is outstanding. The 4 wheel independent suspension in the 2003 has done more then give the 2003 a more car like ride. The leg room for the 3rd row is on par to most back seats in midsized sedans. The 300 watt, sub- woofer stereo that comes with the EB is one of the best factory installs I've ever heard. Ford has also done a nice job in cutting down the road noise, at highway speeds, it is considerably quieter in the 2003 over previous years. For you gadget freaks, check out the heated/air conditioned seats.

Very positive impression so far. Fit and finish are quite good and we have had zero defects. The rack and pinion steering coupled with firm springs translates into precise steering with minimal body lean in turns. Ride is firm but not harsh. We have 5.4L engine - this engine pulls smoothly from low RPM. Not a lot of throttle is needed to pull away from stop signs. The transmission shifts smoothly. The interior is, as expected for a vehicle of this size, very roomy. Lots of pockets & storage. 3rd row seats are comfortable and can hold adults for long trips. Folding 3rd row quite handy.

No fix for problem now, Ford "is working on the problem". They want me to be patient and wait until the fix. I have to ride with the vehicle in A4wd- -gas guzzler--awlful noise is now apparent in A4wd. Nothing I can do but be a puppet on a string!!!!!!! This problem can be present in ALL 4WD EXPEDITIONS AS WELL AS NAVIGATORS FOR 2003!!!! Also, they changed brake pads due to asbestos, the wheels stay BLACK due to tremendous brake dust!

The Expedition is easy to drive even for my wife who is only 5' tall just make sure you get the running boards. Problems with navigation system. The hardware is exceptional, the software package is poor. There are large gaps in its maps, for WY in NAV sys only covers one city completely. I say that tongue and cheek because there are probably black holes with that location as well. The neighborhood I live in has been around for over 25 years but there are parts the software considers us off roading. There are other software packages with complete maps, eg LEXUS. Also, most dealerships don't load the software until you pay for the vehicle so you cannot see the gaps. In its defense: software works great for maps it has but who whats to be lost with a clueless NAV sys.

As close you are going to get to a luxury sedan ride in an SUV. The independant rear suspension really helps the handling and ride along with allowing them to come up with best designed third row seat in any SUV. I owned a Durango previously and once my son grew over 4.5 feet he outgrew "his" 3rd row, which was an innovation at that time. After the first year Ford should put some more thought into the interior features. Have not tested the off road performance...yet.

You have to be a truly brand loyal to overlook some of the flaws inherent in this vehicle. The engine is underpowered and continually goes in and out of overdrive. At highway speeds, there is a noise across the roof like a thin piece of sheelmetal with something heavy rolling across it. The child locks to come on by itself - poor positioning. The dealer offered to replace it for $220. The check engine light also came on for the first time for routine maintenance - $400. The dealer also told me to expect the average routine maintenance to cost around $200.

We conducted extensive research and fell in love with this vehicle -- then we brought it home. The dealer installed DVD system fell out of the ceiling after two repair attempts. The next week the interior flooded due to a defective AC drain hose, and this weekend it wouldn't start - totally dead. We went to pick it up tonight, and now the power seats are not working. The cigarette lighter stopped powering our cell phone, and the preset buttons are not functioning. And,the windshield antenna won't pick up any radio stations unless you're in the middle of a metro area. We've had this SUV six weeks, but the dealer has had it more often than we have.

Previously had a 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer, until I was hit by an uninsured driver. I was forced off the road and crashed into a concrete overpass at an estimated 67 MPH. The highway patrol officer said that if I had been driving a Camry or Accord, the accident would have been fatal. I truly believe that the truck saved my life. If you're looking for a SAFE vehicle, look no further. With the SafetyCanopy side curtain airbag system and the Personal Safety System, you can't go wrong!

Excellent Choice!

Whoa! We did our research, test drove the Tahoe, Sequoia and were SOLD on this SUV! The folding FLAT third row seats are the show stoppers. Also love that you can be comfortable ANYWHERE you sit from drivers seat to third row! Not so in the Tahoe or Sequoia...knees come up to chin in third row seat! Another biggie...safety factor..kids can exit the third row without help! Handles are very user friendly. Great family vehicle. Get a splitter from Radio Shack and 4 or more can listen to a movie while you drive to your favorite CD playing up front!! Took a 17 hour road trip and LOVED it in this SUV. It ranked up there with flying FIRST CLASS!

I previously owned a 1997 Expedition (Eddie Bauer)had great luck. Went 120,000 miles and traded it for $12,000. Pulled a heavy 31 ft. travel trailer with it and always was dependable. So far this 2003 is great!!! Wonderful ride, smooth and quiet.

The 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition has a significantly softer ride with the new suspension. It still has a "big truck" feel but it's much better. With all of the features this rig has, it seems uneccessary to drop $10-$15K more for a Lincoln Navigator (the other car we were considering). The Expedition is nothing flashy, but is a good solid SUV that will last us for many years.

I drove my expy from la-las vegas and it was nice and smooth if you are running 70 miles an hour constantly on a minor or flat slope...i tried to push it to run 90 miles per hour and maybe averaged about more than 80 mph all the way and i think the 4.6 liter, which I have, is needing more power going up the hills at 15 freeway. Avoid the 4.6 and upgrade to 5.4 liter.

Absolutely impressed with my truck.Looks much better than Escalade.Runs and rides smooth and quiet.Fit and finish is superb. No rattles, everything is solid.Has all the gadgets and all the gadgets work well.Sold my F-150 with 245,000(original engine, trans., and rear-end)to purchase 2003 Expedition.I think I have another great Ford on my hands.Sold 1988 F-150 for $3,500, still running great.Mechanic checked compression and said all of truck still great.Friend just traded in a 2001 Dodge with broken engine(for ANOTHER DODGE!)Suckers can have their Dodges.I want nothing but a Ford, thank you.A Chevy might do if Ford didn't exist.Thank God Ford does exist!

I was floored to note the quality that Ford has put into the 2003 Expedition. Quite, fast, and built for a large group. I don't think you could ask for more. Gas consumption is a different matter as it's getting just under 18MPG on the open highway, but the old saying is, you get what you pay for. As for me, I paid a fair price and got a better than normal product.

The 2003 Expedition is the best truck/SUV ever. The fuel economy is the only bad thing. The Expedition can do basicly anything off-road and on-road! It has power and stability!Don't even think about the Explorer. It is too small and has a very poor engine!Trust me the 2003 Expedition is the right vehicle for everybody!Excellent safety!

Better than Sequoia in initial quality (see JD Powers ratings). Only full size SUV with 5 star crash ratings & safety canopy. Cool folding seats. Very quiet & luxirous ride -- better than some overpriced cars. Lousy mileage. Had 1 rattle that got fixed promptly. Ford wants to charge extra for a better alarm -- hate the upselling for a $43,000-MSRP vehicle !!

I have had my 2003 expedition EB about two weeks. I traded a 1999 expedition EB which I loved. The 2003 no longer has that truck ride, feel, or comfort. No flaws at this point. Gas mileage still a little weak. I have all the options and the DVD is nice but blocks your rear mirror view, in the seat like Cad would be better. I would rate this car a 9++ and I have owned many different brands and types.

Finally, a thought-out SUV

Priced my XLT Premium 4X2 4.6L using Edmunds, and ended up with perhaps the best, easiest, and fastest buying experience I'll have for a long time. After 4 months of waiting on our special-ordered 02 Honda Odyssey, the 03 Expy rolled out and it was the next best buy (better?) after researching it. 2nd & 3rd row seats fold flat, standard towing, BIG engine, lots of room, highly competitive, price-wise and feature-wise, against any minivan on the market. Even side running boards are standard. Fuel Consumption? Check rates on 03 Expy XLT Prem 4X2 4.6L versus 02 Honda Osyssey EXL-RES, and what you pay in gas you save on insurance. EVEN TRADE OFFS.

A nice combination of minivan & luxury car inside. Compared to some "luxury" SUVs, the full size, upper end offerings from Toyota, GM & Ford are all quite decent. We like the heated / cooled seats, DVD, etc. Crash test ratings are better than Toy/GM models -- excepting for probably a high rollover tendency all SUVs have. Also, initial quality survey for 2 years is better than Toyota's. The electronic stability system (AdvanceTrac) -- which is a bit tough to find in 2WD models. Overall, excellent value for the money (as far as overpriced, full sized SUVs go) & probably appealing to people who hate minivans. Buy the 4X2 if you will not go off road.

2003 is a completely different Expedition than the 2002. The fold down seats, the handling, the turning radius is far superior to any other SUV. I did extensive reasearch, lucky the the 2003 came out just in time because I would not have bought the 2002. I was close to buying the Toyota Sequioa, but the style and the features are better in the Ford PS. Never owned, or ever thought about buying a Ford vechile. Glad I did. GO for it

I had been shopping for a Cadillac Escalade but the power folding third row seat ads on TV caused me to stop at the Ford dealership. I test drove a Laser Red fully-equipped Eddie Bauer and ended up buying it. It's got more equipment than the Cadillac, for a lot less $$$. I love the ride, and the steering and braking are in a different league from the GM products.

The ride, fit and finish and features are much, much better than 1997 Expedition. The six middle and third row seats are all comfortable for adults and all have 3-point belts, and seats can split and fold flat. External rearview mirrors are HUGE. Rear DVD entertainment system is a hit with kids and comes with 2 wireless headphone. Kids can listen to movies while you listen to radio. Unlike other small cars, rear DVD does not eat into needed head room. Truck looks and feels much more solid and bigger than before. Handling is improved greatly. You can toss this 6000 lb truck around the bends without all the body roll and tire screetching from 97.

I've got a 1999 Expedition, I still love to drive it. The all wheel drive makes this beast corner very well. Highway mileage is very good for the triton v8. If you live in a true city area, you might want to shy away from this vehicle because traffic jams eat up the gas quickly. Stop and go traffic is rough on a 4000+ lb vehicle. Any other drivers, suburbs or otherwise will be glad they no longer have to fear for their lives in the winter, it handles like a dream. Just slow down, you can go much faster than you can stop. To those critics who drive a euro sports sedan - don't kid yourself, your car is no friend of the environment either.

This SUV looks like the Exploder. I think that little more originality could have been used to make it a little different besides the size. The interiors looks to bland and simple looking. They look CHEAP to me, again this an honest opinion. The same can be said for the new Expedition and the Exploder. By the way, in my side of town this car is not even available for sale yet. However, the pictures, which of course are embelished, and obviously using the EB or leather for presentation are deceiving. Welcome to Volvo (Too BOXY for my taste!)
