BASICS The Tahoe offers plenty of room for kids and adults of all ages and sizes. The ride is very smooth and quiet. It handles remarkably well for a vehicle of its size. Acceleration is very good. It tows my 5,000 lb boat with ease. The gas mileage (15.8 city 19-20 hwy) is not that good but it is great when you compare it to other vehicles of this size, age and towing capacity. Maintenance and repairs for me have been very minimal. The engine and differential are in excellent condition with no known repairs. All electronics and the A/C have performed flawlessly with no repairs or maintenance ever. The body and paint are in excellent condition with no flaws or defects. The cloth interior has held up beautifully with kids in and out everyday. MY STORY I bought the Tahoe with 140,00 miles on it. I drove it across 3 state lines to get it home with no noticeable problems. I live on a very quiet road and I did notice that I could hear an ever so light squeal or sound like a wheel bearing just was not right. Turns out one of the front wheel bearings was going bad. I changed both wheel bearings, outer tie rod ends, shocks and lower ball joints. It did not really have to change the ball joints, shocks and tie rods but my kids ride in this truck and sometimes with a large boat in tow. It took about 4-5 hours to do it myself. The steering was super tight and drove like new. Yes it would easily track the road with no hands for quite a distance. Again only one wheel bearing needed changing and this is very common with the Tahoes. These parts were replaced during the first week of ownership as a part of getting the truck is top condition. I also replaced the belt and heater hose so that I would not have to be concerned with them. I drove this used truck with ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS FOR 110,000 miles! I changed the oil Mobil 1 synthetic, $24/5qt at Walmart, myself), replaced worn out tires, spark plugs at every 100,000 miles and changed the brake pads once. I think that this routine maintenance is extremely minimal compared to any vehicle especially a truck that sometimes tows a 24 ft. Sea Ray (heavy boat). THE BAD At 251,000 on the way to a trunk or treat for the kids the sun gear in the transmission stripped. This is a very common issue in GM transmissions. The transmission made a not ever so loud pop like something broke and then went into neutral. I stopped to check it out and it work fine when I started again except it did not find third gear. 1st, 2nd and a late overdrive and I was on the highway cruising home. Found out reverse did not work so I had to get a neighbor to push me back into the drive way. Took the transmission out and took it to a small shop to rebuild for $400. Opted for the heavy duty kit for $500 and picked up the rebuilt transmission 8 hours later. The rebuild has been great for 47,000 miles with the original torque converter. THE OTHER BAD-----OTHER REPAIRS SINCE THE TRANS REBUILD ---$150 (myself) premium water pump because it was leaking----premium alternator $90 (myself) because it was not holding 14 volts consistently---- premium fuel pump & filter---$250 (myself) because it was giving the signs of going bad (sometimes needed to crank it several times to start, occasional hesitation on open throttle or flooring the accelerator). Many vehicles have these repairs within the first 100,000 miles but the Tahoe made over 250,000 before needing them. Yes I checked with the 1 and only previous owner and he provided all work receipts. I think that this is exceptional performance for a used truck that had 140,000 on it when purchased. Also realize that the truck is now ready for 50k or more miles with no worries. Now with almost 300,000 miles I can drive this truck across country. Yes, I do occasionally drive it over 1,000 miles one way with no worries. I am on my second set of Michelin tires that give me about 90,000 of wear. I think that a quarter million miles on a transmission is awesome and 300,000 miles on an engine that still purrs is amazing. In my humble opinion this truck has been incredible. 300,000 and I can let my wife drive it anywhere, with no worries, if she wants to use it. In the present state there is absolutely nothing in need of repair on the truck. Current state is 10/10 and the ride is like a Cadillac. That is saying a lot for a vehicle with 300,000 miles on it.

Purchased new in 03' Z71 4x4 with 5.3 flex fuel. Currently has 202,600 miles. This truck has been amazing, best truck we have owned. Sure there are some annoyances, steering half shafts do go out once and a while (we've replaced 2 of them) and our speedometer stuck too like some others but nothing major. We pull a 5,000 pound boat regularly and have throughout the trucks life with no problems. We've only put brakes on it twice and we're on our third set of Goodyear Wrangler ATS tires. Smooth, comfortable, and amazingly reliable, has never failed to start during a Minnesota winter. Hope our new Tahoe LTZ treats us as nice, we pick it up tomorrow.

I just bought this a few months ago, 03 Z71, 138k miles. I love the vehicle but not impressed with mpg. Getting around 14-15 highway. I find it hard to believe people are getting 17-20 mpg. I would be ecstatic if I could get that. Just found out this morning have to have the wheel bearing replaced on the front passenger wheel. Also the heated seat (driver) is coming on by itself. Not sure whats up with that. Other than that, very comfortable, good ride, good handling, nice turn radius. It is a used vehicle so I dont expect it to be perfect.

Truck now has over 250,000 miles and still running strong. Bought it used in 2005 with about 70,000 miles on it. Only repairs have been to the fuel pump and rear AC. The truck sits up high so it makes you feel safe. The power from thr 5.3 liter Vortec engine is amazing.

Just purchased my 2003 Tahoe 4x4 Police Package 4.8 V8, only 60K. 285/77/R16s. Border Patrol ordered it with a 4inch suspension lift. Perfect clearence. The 4.8 engine is great. I added small upgrades: K&N intake system, Computer chip to regulate air-flow and temp; and finally a DiabloSport Computer programer. All about $500. The engine is a beast now. It also has the cooling system for both the engine and tranny fluids. I recommend the updgrades to all Tahoe lovers. All upgrades from Ebay. [non-permissible content removed]. Upgrades gave it lots of power, and great gas mileage. 26HWY & 20 city. Perfect all around.

The 2003 Chevy Tahoe z71 is one of four gm suvs I have owned. The 1996 suburban was excellent but a bit big for me. My 1999 Yukon was awesome, averaged 20 mpg, and sold the day I put a for sale sign on it 6 years and 156k miles later. The 2003 z71 is the best design, averages 21 mpg, has the most creature comforts, us the best off road vehicle and at 126k is still in excellent condition. I just purchased a new 2009 Yukon hybrid which is loaded, has an awesome zippy engine, overwhelming new technologies that I may some day learn to use, and is stylish by today's standards. Off road use is iffy because of the new front bumper being too low to the ground, but it is also get 21 mpg. I am a fan.

I cant remember when we got this SUV, but needless to say it has been a very enjoyable vehicle. although the fuel pump did go out a few weeks ago. It was fixed and now its running pretty good. seats are great, sound system is great. the power windows, ehh, not so much...oh yeah. city mpg poor, highway isn't that bad. 'all round i rather enjoy driving a big mean evil gas guzzling suv. especially knowing that I'm destroying the environment (being sarcastic) lol. run the premium stuff around the table in it and the Tahoe will last.

Don't get me wrong i love my Tahoe it has not broken down on me yet but the interior squeaks a lot, the fit and finish of the materials is not that great either. Would I buy it again though, yes like I said it has not broken on me yet and actually for its size I get good MPG I get 17.6 city and 21.8 HWY. I do not know what is wrong with everyone else's Tahoe lol

I have never owned an SUV until I bought this Tahoe. Had driven several but loved the body style. I bought it in 08 with 42,000 miles on it. I love this vehicle, have had no maintenance issues with it. The ride is great, the higher seating for driving is excellent and it maneuvers like a sports car. It is big enough to haul most items from Home depot or Kroger's. The interior layout is great. When it comes time to buy another vehicle it will be a Tahoe.

I bought my 2003 lt Chevy Tahoe in 2005 with 72xxx. It was what I had always wanted. Now in 2009 I have 181k and the truck still drives like it did when I first bought it. Sure I had my few problems like every car does. I had to replace the whole front end at about 130k, battery, alternator, window motor. Other than those few issues I have had great luck with this truck. And I will keep it until the wheels fall off. I love my truck like I said before. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Tahoe raised 2 grandchildren and chauffeured many. Two more g'children live 13.5 hrs from home; Tahoe is great for traveling. Awesome Front/Rear climate controls and media ports. Jan. 08, woman ran light going 65 mph; hit driver door; crushed left front wheel; and damaged front cap. Entire impact below passenger level; air bags not deployed. Had bump on head and small cut on hand. Two passengers in other vehicle critically injured. Police officer behind me said if I hadn't hesitated she'd have been hit and they'd be cutting what was left of her out of her cruiser. Did have problem w/leaking head gasket @ 80K. Tahoe has 104,000K, is safe, reliable & my V-8 got 19.94 mpg last wk.

Purchased new Z71 with all the options. Truck now has 86000 miles on it and is falling apart. Transfer case and front differential gone, speedometer, heater fan, windshield wipers, mirror defrost, seat heater, fuel pump, U-joints, turn signals all not working. Truck needs over 5K of repairs. These are all items that should never go out, especially on a low mileage car. This is my 4th chevy truck. All others have gone 150+ miles without issues. GM is not building a product that will last and will not stand behind their product. I will not buy another GM product again.

Honestly, I think this is the best car gm made lately. We bought it in 03 with 26k on it and now it have almost 160k and I haven't had any Major issues at all! Only done preventative maintenance and it has never (I mean never!) let me down. I've gone all over the country, pulled a trailer for over 1000 miles at a time, hauled tons of stuff and it just keeps going. It has hands down outperformed any vehicle I have ever had. (including imports) we just purchased a lower mileage Yukon and I kept the Tahoe with my business. I'm going to see just how far it will go (I'm guessing 300k or so) we'll see!

This vehicle was purchased as a work vehicle as I am self employed. After four years I replaced it and kept it as a personal vehicle. It has never let me down. The original brakes lasted 70k miles. With the exception of a cheap speedometer repair at 75k miles it has never cost me anything but maintenance. It runs strong and has sports car handling. It averages 16 miles per gallon and gets 21 on the open road. It has the best a/c I've ever had in a car and still looks like new, inside and out. I expect 200k miles out of it as I know two guys who went well over that with their 03's and were forced by their companies to replace them.

We paid $44K for the 2003 TahoeLT4WD and looking back now the amount surprises me. Not that the truck is not a great value but we have invested in brake pads (twice), rotors (once) and other rear-end parts. There is a leak from the overhead A/C control that spills water (when heavy rain) onto the front passenger. The truck drives powerfully, holds the road very well and eats up potholes and off-road bumps with ease. The interior layout works real well with 4 captain chairs and 2 removable third row seats. We hope to get another 70k miles before any more investment or trade in. I would recommend this truck to anyone with need to travel distances safely with kids and a dog. It's worth it.

The Tahoe is by far my favorite car. WE leased this car new in 03 and bought it when the lease was up. I have 2 kids and a great dane. This car fits everything! The only problems are that I've had to replace the fuel pump and transmission. Minor annoyances have been the parking brake and electrical issues, but "Bessie" has started every single time for 113,000 miles. We will be heartbroken to see her go.

The care was never the greatest car but it is paid for and who wants to go through the hassle of buying another one. I just can't believe that it cost me $477.00 to replace ONE rear window automatic window on the 2003 Tahoe. Just before this, out of the clear blue, the driver's seat seatback broke and that was another $368.00. Just hoping the economy will get better soon so I can afford to get rid of this money pit. No wonder GM is going under. Who wants a vehicle that even after you pay it off you are still paying the big bucks for the little things you expect to last. I call this Tahoe my Yugo. Now the windshield washer reservoir has gone out..probably another $300.00. Never ends....

While not the most gas efficient, considering the size, I still get an average of 17 mpg. I love it, it's comfortable, reliable and safe. Outside of the general oil changes, tire rotations and one recent brake job and a/c repair, I have not had to do anything to it but drive and enjoy it. Recommend to anyone. Good quality vehicle. Bought used in '03 with 35,000 miles, I now have over 119,000 on it and it is still going strong, looks and runs like new! Hope to keep it a few more years!

A great choice for comfort and performance. 5.3 liter V8s are also Flex fuel which is a plus. We have gotten as high as 21 mpg. on the interstate at 80 mph burning gasoline. What a quiet highway vehicle, with power to spare for towing our jeep. Very few minor things have gone wrong, two replacements of the radio, a sensor etc. We love this vehicle and plan to keep it a long time

I purchsed this my 2003 Chevy Tahoe in August of '03 brand new right off the delivery truck and had loved it since. I've only had minor problems with it like the fuel pump going bad, 2 dead batteries, and bad starter. Besides all of that it has been very good to me. I don't plan to get rid of it ever. I recently gave it to my 15 y/o son as a gift for getting his permit when I purchsed the '08 Tahoe. Hoping for the same.

I bought this truck used in 2004 with 19,000 miles. I have had very few problems in the last 4 four years. My fuel pump did go out, but I have observed that happens on all Chevy trucks, you have to factor that into the cost. My fuel economy is pretty good for having over 300 HP and 33inch tires (after market). I love this truck and don't have any plans to trade in.

This car has been a great car for our family. We put on a lot of miles traveling all over town and it is for the most part very reiliable. There has only been minor problems with some electrical in this car. like a light won't work one day but will the next. It is extremely comfortable. In 2003 there was no other SUV on the market this roomy or comfortable. We have a Z71 package with a TV and that has also been a great delight for our kids

I love my Tahoe, but I have had many problems with it. The intermediate shaft's gone out twice. The actuator for the vent control's going out (will eventually lose control over where the a/c and heat come out). Speedometer cluster went out. Passenger window's getting slow. Steering wheel and driver door sqeak uncontrollably (door bolt costs $100 to fix). Chevy says actuator, intermediat shaft, and speedometer cluster problems are common in Tahoes with this body style. Not sure if I'll ever buy another one. All of the problems have been expensive and made me dislike the car that I once loved. Not worth the money. The new ones would have to be totally different for me to buy one.

I bought the SUV new, and had some initial problems with the locks. It had to be taken to the dealership several times before they finally got the problem fixed. The front end wasn't aligned when I bought the SUV and it took two trips to get that properly aligned. At about 40000 miles, the speedometer quit working and the whole gauge unit had to be rebuilt. It now gets about 2 mpg less than when new. The only other repairs that have been needed is when my son literally drove it through a brick wall. It only had a couple of scratches and dents, and the exterior mirrors had to be replaced; but it was drivable and I made my son drive it until the garage got the parts to fix it.

Yes, I have triend to get someone to change them and they wouldn't do it becuase they told me the Tahoe didn't need them. Amazing. I owned a silverado before this and the ride difference is huge. I installed a K and N cold air intake system on it and my accelleration is so much better. I travel all over the Southeast driving an average of 30,000 miles/year and this is a chariot. By far the best vehicle I have ever owned. When this one dies on me I will buy another one to last me another 5 years.

I have the Z71. Fantastic truck. Rides as well with 63,000 as when new. A couple initial problems, drive shaft replacement, and no shifting back into 2WD, but dealer fixed it, and hasn't been back to the shop in 30,000 miles. Very solid truck. Was rear ended by Ford Econoline loaded with tools doing 35 MPH. Only $3,500 damage, and was still drivable. Glad I was in the Tahoe and not something else. This truck gives me the confidence to take it anywhere in any conditions. I feel this truck will run forever. Foreign vehicles have nothing on this truck.

Too many mechanical problems after 60,000 miles. Replaced fuel pump, water pump, instrument cluster, (speedometer stopped working), replaced horn, engine gasket, steering problems. For a vehicle of this age and mileage these types of problems should not occur. I'll not own another Chevy. My next vehicle will be Japanese or German. U.S. auto makers need to make a more reliable vehicle if they want to compete.

Since new, this vehicle has been flawless and I have every option except sunroof. I have it serviced before time with selling dealer and it is garage kept. I baby this vehicle. Last year I almost traded it for a "Caddy" but this vehicle had more options and a whole lot less expensive and gas mileage was near same. Overall, a great vehicle.

Drove a '93 Suburban for 7 years and loved it! The Tahoe is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I believe the reviews depend on what the person drove before owning the '03 Tahoe. I only drive 20 mile to work and hate the drive everyday. It handles so squirrelly I have trouble keping it between the lines, like following a semi too close. Tires replace with Michelins trying to control this vehicle. The Michelins improved handling on rual roads but did not on the interstate. Intermediate shaft replaced at 16748 miles, crossmember replace at 35558 miles. Vibration at takeoff. Transmission slips. No ashtray in back. Can't get rid of it because its valued less than the payoff.

Best vehicle I have ever owned. It is equally fitting for driving around town in Denver or taking the toughest incline in the Rockies. I love the power; my wife loves the comfort. We recently drove from Denver to Houston and it was the most comfortable long trip I have ever taken in a vehicle. The only complaint is slightly squeaky brakes.

If you need space for kids, dogs, or just stuff this is the truck 4 you. Not to mention the saftey of having your family in a veritable tank. We will always buy Chevy from now on.

We were surprised how nice this machine really is. It is easy to park and roomy enough for the whole family in comfort. A pleasure to drive, it wants to continue in a straight line and pulls a trailer with ease. Don't expect sports car thrills, but do expect predictable relaxed comfort and surprising maneuverability.

Nothing but trouble. In less than three years, the cruise control quit working, as did the speedometer, antilock brakes, power door locks, and the gas guage. The front end will not stay aligned, even when mainly driven on highways. No lumbar support in the front seats; no leg room in the rear seats. This vehicle has cost more in repairs than many vehicles total purchase and ownership costs. Biggest automotive mistake I've ever made.

Other than some minor repairs I have found it enjoyable to drive. Fuel economy doesnt exist in a vehicle this size. But it still lacks horsepower. I never liked that the truck is governed at 100 mph. But what the hey this isnt the autobaun. Truth be said this will be my last Chevy. There are better deals to be made.

I absolutely love my Tahoe 4x4. I haven't had any problems with it so far. My friends have an ML320 and it doesn't compare at all. I wouldn't trade it for any foreign-built vehicle, even though Toyota and Honda make great products. I am 6'3" 275 lbs. and my Tahoe has more than enough room for me to stretch out. I wish the back seats had a little more room for the kid's car seats though. I ride motocross and take it off-road and blast the AC in 100 degree heat - not a problem. This thing is a tank, we affectionately call it "Old Faithful"

Love my Z71. I have had two annoying problems that ruin the experience. Something shaking in the front end and it switches from 4 wheel to 2 wheel on its own. Steering part on back order, and reprogramed transmission. Hopefully this is the end of trips to the dealer and I will have the great experience everyone else seems to be having. The truck is fast, more comfortable than my Cadillacs, and rides nearly as well. Can haul a bunch of stuff, and looks good. Suprised at first year depreciation of $10,000(retail to trade in value).

I brought the truck new and have put 20,000 miles on it. My onstar stop working, windsheild wipers won't shut off at times, airbag service light comes at times and the front end seems loose when curving right or going over bumps. Also, I've been told the all gm vortec engines have piston slap and gm refuses to fix it. I've been to the dealer 3 times and they can't seem to fix the problems. The dealer service department is the worst, no loaner car or ride to work, I get my truck back and it has grease and pen marks on my leather seats, it takes on average 4hrs to change the oil and worst of all the service tech told me don't worry about minor problems.

It's a large vehicle, but it steers better than my old compact pickup. The Auto 4WD system is a great feature that competitors don't offer. Only get the third row seat if you expect to carry children around because the third row will only be comfortable for children. Since I don't have children, I find myself taking out the third row seats most of the time for cargo room. Great ride quality with quiet engine and cabin.

Terrible noise in front of vehicle when turning and accelerating. After repaired, steering more stiff and making grinding noises. While washing the vehicle (with sprayer) paint chipped off. Problems with lights and seats when operating. Doors sound horrible when opening and shutting. Dealership has been good about fixing things but should not be having these problems with a new vehicle. How well will it hold up? I love the ride, comfort, etc. Purchase another? Doubtful.

I FEEL SAFE AND COMFORTABLE IN MY CHEV. TAHOE. WHEN THE DOOR CLOSES, IT SOUNDS SOLID LIKE A ROCK! I WAS TOLD THE GAS MILEAGE IS NOT GOOD, BUT I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED BAD MILEAGE AT ALL, WHETHER IN THE CITY OR THE OPEN ROAD. STOPS ON A DIME, SMOOTH TURNS, LOTS OF LEG AND BODY ROOM. NOT LIKE THE INFINITI, LEXUS, OR FORD SUV'S.... YOU ARE NOT CRAMMED INTO THE SEATS, WITH YOUR HEAD TOUCHING THE TOP OR HITTING THE SIDES OF THE VEHICLE WHEN YOU GET IT. LOTS OF AREAS TO PUT CELL PHONE, AND MISC. ITEMS. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL SUV'S IN MY TIME, AND UNLESS THEY MAKE THE HUMMER A LITTLE MORE COMPACT, I WILL CONTINUE TO PURCHASE A TAHOE. I LOVE IT!!!!

Love the truck. However, constant "minor" problems need service. Dealer service is sub-par and they never give loaner vehicles. For a $45,000 truck it should be given. Chevy calls minor defects "normal". Water in the front lens, "normal". Loud buzzing from fuel pump "normal". Steering vibration "normal". Water leak in front passenger side of vehicle checked twice. Buy Infiniti/Lexus/Acura.They'll treat you with respect. If/when you need service for Imports new loaners are provided. Also much better quality than Chevy & about the same price. Don't fall for "Buy American Crap" that's Big 3's hook & rationalization for poor quality & insults every American.

It fits my 6'2" frame better than any other vehicle I've been in. it handles great and the tranny shifts are seemles. Gas mileage is good. 15mpg around town (come on people its 285hp pushing around 2 and a half tons, be realistic). It feels, dare I say almost sporty around town and down right plush on the highway. The Bose stereo kicks butt as does the Autotrac system. The incentives were great and the resale should be above average as well.

Though the Tahoe isn't kind to the wallet at the gas station, It is a joy to drive. Love the comfort and well thought out features.

Moving up from a Blazer to the Tahoe was definitely worth it. Seriously considered the TrailBlazer, but, opted for more room with the Tahoe. Living in deep snow country the 4WD is a needed feature. My only wish is that the mileage was better.. but,it goes with the territory.

There are many things to like about the Tahoe. It is a reliable vehicle and a good size. The seats are comfortable and the controls are easy to use. But there are a few changes needed to make me keep this one or buy another one. I have had 2 previous suburbans and a Chev conversion van in the last 15 years.

The Z71 is definitely a vehicle you want in your garage if you plan on driving in any condition. During and after the Blizzard of 2003 I was the only vehicle on the road that was not in a ditch. The biggest problem that I have discovered with this vehicle is its ability to drain a tank of gas with no difficulty, as well as few minor issues with the interior quality of the vehicle. I would request that GM increase the level of the 2nd row comfort, sitting in the back is like ridding on a wooden bench. Over all I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who does not want to sit in there house when the weather turns bad.

Ive added new tires and rims which has let to even better handling than the stock tires.....The handling and turn radius is very impressive. The extras the Chevy has included is also very impressive....I think if you like to get away or just cruise around town, This vehicle requires consideration....Im very pleased!

Suberb vehicle, plenty of room inside. Not mechanical defects to date. Seat warmer controls are too close to the window control turning the warmer on each time the window is open or closed. Runs well on regular 87 octane gas lessening the "fillup shock" of a normal high performance SUV. Great towing capability. The autoride feature is well worth the expense if you have a boat or camper.

This vehicle has made this Grandmothers life so much easier to handle my grandson in and out of the car. The safety features are very important but the luxury features are awesome. Everything it at fingertip reach and it does so many functions automatically once it has been set. With the 3rd back seat down it is so easy to put cargo in the back with either the window up or the entire door. I recently took a business trip of over 350 miles and it was wonderful, from the ride to the music sound system. I will never own any other form of transportation. Thank you

It pulls my 21 foot boat with no problems. It handles the bumps in the road while towing better than my 2002 LT Tahoe. Pulls the boat out of water on slippery boat ramps with little to no problem. Only problem is that it is very difficult to add after market items (ie) XM radio. After three tries finaly got it right. Other than that I love it

The turning radius is a lot better than it used to be. The seats don't seem to be as comfortable as my last but thats okay. I really like the radio to where we can both listen to different things at the same time.

We hadn't initially considered the Yukon/Tahoe. However, when the salesman pointed out to us that the 'regular' sized Tahoe was actually shorter than the 'XL', and had the third row removable seats, we took a look. We could not justify the price difference in the Yukon, so went with the 4WD, LS with the small V-8. It drives like a dream. Overall we are averaging 17.2 MPG. We only need the towing power 4-5 times a year to haul our pop-up camper. This SUV is just a real joy to drive. For what we paid for it, and all the std features, would be hard to find something any better to suite our needs.

So far it has changed my mind about the poor reliability of GM products. The ride is exceptional. The 3:42 rear end gives great fuel economy for a vehicle of its size - so far we have gotten 18 - 21 mpg. Exterior fit and finish excellent. Super comfortable seats. Handles better than most cars. Great for the dirt roads leading to our lake house.

Have owned two tahoes (LT) and have not been back for any problems. I was nervous about trading in the 2000 because I thought I would never get one as good as it had been. The new one has been perfect so far. I'm not nuts about the fuel mileage, usually averaging about 15, but I accept it as normal for a large vehicle. One concern has been the fast steering. The steering is a little too responsive for me. I have adjusted to it but would prefer a little less resonsiveness. My wife likes it just the way it is because it "steers easy".

This truck gave me sticker gas expectation on highway only. In the city it achieves 9 and change miles from gallon. This is my first new car, so I am trying not to step on it too hard. Between highway and city driving I've got 10.6 miles per gallon !!!?... But that's O.K.. The real problem I have with the seat. So far I've made 2700 miles and already have terrible low back pain from the seat. I'd like to know if the seat is ergonomically correct. It feels like something is missing in the low back support. I hate the way breakes work. Feel like pushing the pedal through the floor but car is steel moving. Plus I can hear squealing while breaking already.

The DVD player with seprate head phones was a saving grace and kept all three children busy and entertained. WE love the durablity of the leather seats and the easy maintance.

Driving this vehicle is magical! After a car accident left me with severe neck and shoulder injuries I bought my Tahoe, with it's auto leveling and seat adjustments, I could accually drive myself and be independent again! I have never been so impressed with the entire package of a vehicle until now! The power, the design both inside and out and of course, it's sexy body style! I Love my Tahoe!

i took my tahoe on its first adventure to a camping park. I had to go on the pa turnpike and it handled everything great. Because of the torque and larger frame it was able to do this. so if any one wants to tow go with a tahoe Z71.It did not hesitate up any hills on the backroads & when the tractor trailors came by at 80 mph the trailer swayed alittle but the truck did not budge.

I've only had it for 3 weeks, but like it even better than the '97 Tahoe I traded in on it. I had a Suburban before that and like the Tahoe much better because of ease of handling but it still feels just as safe and sturdy as the Suburban. I tried the Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer, but never could get comfortable in the seat and it gave a rougher ride. I'm averaging 15.7 to 16 MPG with about 60-40 city and highway driving. If it is as trouble free as my '97 was, I'll be happy.

There is no better all around vehicle made. I use it as much off road as on road and it will do anything my jeep will do with more comfort. We have used them on ranches where there were hardly any roads, put over 150,000 miles on them and they are still being used as taxis in Telluride, CO. It is the most comfortable on road vehicle; I never get tired of driving on 1000 mile trips. And I still get 18 to 21 mpg on the highway at very high speeds. It should be rated the best SUV on the market since that BMW isn't going half the places my Tahoe is going. There will always be one in our family.

Hard to keep clean. This is a very good handling vehicle with a smooth ride on good and bad roads. It has a few rattles that were repaired. The transmission failed at 24,000 miles and had to be torn down and repaired. The dealer said it was not something that has happened with Tahoes. It was repaired quickly and a loaner car provided. Great leather seats.

I had been looking for a car and or an SUV to eplace my Ford Explorer. (By the way - My for NEVER had a problem and I had it 4 yeas.) Anyway, The Tahoe Z71 (with the entire bell and whistle package) is not a sports car. Too fast around a corner and the high side walls of the tires flex and a 4 wheel drift is started. But, very responsive. But, it's not made for that. Power, it's there when you need it. Comfort, it's definately there. Smoth ride and a very suprising tight turning radius for the size. Overall, I am very happy with the puchase. I got white with tan leather. Other car/SUV's I was looking at: BMW X5, Land Rover, Lexius 330

dont make the same mistake I did!

On the 6th day of ownership of my tahoe..the compresser to the a/c locked up. And the exact part that caused the problem was not cover under chevys "bumper to bumper" warranty, so i had to shell out $296 to fix the air! On the day I was suppost to pick it up the dealership called me in the morning and said it was ready. So I had my boss drop me off at the dealer. The mechanic blew the compresser at 10am and no one had contacted me to give me the heads up on keeping my rental! Can you belive that with simular equipment as the tahoe, the sequoia with the same milage has about $8000.00 more resale value over one year!

This truck is as smooth as it gets. The truck has great handling with the Z71, package very low body roll in sharp corners. The acceleration is as smooth as silk hardly noticing the transmission changing gears. The breaking has also been refined with 4- wheel disc. The peddle is somewhat soft compared to the old Z71, but the overall breaking performance has been greatly improved. I do not like the dash layout as much as the old Z71. The center console is twice as big as the old Z71 and the cup holders in the front have been reduced by 50% go figure. Overall it is a great truck, I would highly recommend it!

GM's incredible incentives were enough to prompt me to sell my Acura MDX in favor of my 1st-choice Chevy Tahoe Z71. So far, I have absolutely NO regrets. The SportUte is awesome. Easy to maneuver, exceptionally comfortable, fantastic sounding XM satellite stereo, and an overall pleasure to drive. Nobody can match this vehicle for the price. Though red was never previously my thing, mine is Redfire Metallic w/tan leather and looks excellent. If you're in the market, you owe it to youself to check these out before you buy!

The seats are very comfortable, and the ride is smooth. It gets smoother the faster you go. Handles great in bad weather, you sit up high and can see everything around you very well.

We chose the Z71 because it fulfills a wide spectrum of requirements. It can go off road, if has a third seat for extra passengers, it's suspension is stiff behaving like a sports car during hard cornering, it has good acceleration and payload capacity, and finally, at least an aceptable fuel usage.

If you are looking for a good traveling vehicle, this is it. Three trips from Tampa to Atlanta since December 2002, and the Z71 made each one a joy.My truck is jet black and I added window vent covers and a matching plastic front spoiler for the hood. I also painted the chevy bowtie black and removed the chevrolet badge from the rear. This baby looks awesome and gets many drooling looks every where I go.

I have 52K on this vehicle and use it on/off road, for hauling people, towing a boat and camper, and back and forth to work. This truck has been pretty much bullet proof. It only needed one small warranty repair (driver's side window regulator). I looked at all of the competitors and the Tahoe just felt better and handled better. My actual experience leaves nothing to be desired from this truck except for a better 3rd row seat configuration.

I think GM wrecked the 2003 tahoe, the 2002 was the last good year. The front seats are larger in the '02 than the '03. There are too many cubby holes in the dash area in the '03, and it looks unattractive. Had to take it to the dealer many times to fix a simple, yet, messy problem with the front axle leaking due to a defective vent tube. Build quality was surprisingly good. Great ride for an SUV with a truck frame!

This SUV stands far and away better than Expedition or Navigator for a couple of reasons. Better build, better ride, and better quality for your money. We did not pick the Navigator because it was just an over priced FORD. We also did not pick the Expedition because from the inside the quality was not their. Although the Expedition was comparably priced it just "Felt Cheap". The Tahoe is all class and very very comfortable and enjoyable.

I have had my SUV for 13 months now and I have had only one problem so far. Shortly after I purchased my SUV, I started hearing this faint noise in the dash area. I took it to the dealership (Harbor Chevrolet, Long Beach, CA - EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!) and I was told that they would have to take the dash apart piece by piece to find the source of the noise. It turned out to be some wiring or cabling issue and they were able to fix. After 17k miles and venturing to Las Vegas, San Diego and Santa Maria, I have only 85% usage on my brakes! Y E S!!!!

I find the fact the put the poor quality Firestone tires on this SUV, a very poor choice. They are terrible in rain and snow. The seats are very poorly constructed compared the 2002 I owned. The mirrors on both sides are loose. Don't like the changes between 2002 and 2003 in the instruments, onboard computer checks. The 1800 price increase between 2002 and 2003 was a reduction in quality and items for this SUV. They took the Onstar and HomeLink out and raised the price. With the changes they made, the price increase was not worth it. I will be looking at other brands next year, after 18 years of driving full size Chevrolet SUV's.

Fun truck to drive, but I was unprepared for the amount of gas this vehicle drinks. Now that gas is $1.68 per gallon for regular unleaded I am wishing for better MPG. I am averaging about 12 mpg in city driving. A little less than advertised. In addition, the car has developed several rattles that the dealer cannot seem to fix. I guess that is to be expected from a GM product. I sure hope gas prices come down!

Purchased our Tahoe in 9/02. Now, with 10k miles, we couldn't be happier. It fullfills all of our needs. I removed the rear seats, as I go to the dumps alot and we don't have any kids. It's only been to the dealer for scheduled maintenance. Not one problem or flaw noted to date. It does tend to wander on the freeway at 80+ mph, with wind and irregular pavement. Otherwise, solid as a rock.

Well, I was suprised. I owned a chevy truck C10 for 10 yrs in the 70-80s, and was basically happy. No major problems in 10 years. Then I started buying Japanese cars. Enough said. I was looking at the Toyota Sequoia to buy and did not even thaught of buying a Chevy. Then, on the way home to pick up my wife to go to the Toyota dealer, for some un explained reason I stopped at a Chevy dealer and test drove a Tahoe. Well after a few months, of being downright confused (I did'nt want to buy the Chevy), I bought the Tahoe and haven't looked back. I have the LT w/ Autoride, and have been extemely happy with it. I have been working in the Automobile industry for more than five years and after driving the new 03 Tahoe, I can easily say that it stands in a class by itself. The Tahoe blows away the competition (Expedition, Landcruiser, etc. with their wimpy 230hp engines). The 5.3L engine is a MUST have over the standard 4.8. Interior qualities and features are very adequate regardless of "spotty build quality" often described by J.D. Power and other groups - what do they expect? It's a TRUCK for cryin' out loud! My 1st ever large vehicle/SUV and I'm committed for life as long as Chevy maintains their quality standard. Hats off to "MOTOR CITY" for a job well done!

After owning 3 Suburbans over 20 years, we decided to downsize now that the kids are grown. The Tahoe is a great, dependable vehicle and much easier to park than the Suburbans were. I still have all of the cargo room behind the second seat and have enjoyed the ride and feel of the vehicle very much. Just did not expect to pay MORE for the Tahoe than any other Suburban we ever had!

Working for a car dealership that does not sell 7 passenger vehicles, I searched Hi and Low and compared all 7 passenger vehicles in the market. I decided on the Tahoe. It was priced resonably as opposed to some other manufactures. I couldn't be any happier with the decision that I have made.

We looked at almost all of the mid/full size SUVs before deciding on the Tahoe. The looks of the Tahoe distinguish it from the rest of the pack (especially in Z71 trim), and it's interior was *the* most comfortable of any vehicle we test drove. Our previous SUV was mid-size, but my wife and I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it has been to adapt to the larger Tahoe.

Not surprised!

Uhhhh, great truck but it has a fatal flaw. A deal killer. Reason enough to check out the competition. In spite of many wonderful features as reported here before the Autoride makes this thing handle like it has a marshmallow suspension. It wobbles and wiggles like a hula dancer. GM says it is "normal" I call it "unacceptable".

We traded in our 1997 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab for a 2003 Chevy Tahoe and it has been such a pleasure to steer a truck with this much ease! The Silverado was a bear to turn, park or just manuever through a parking lot. The Tahoe redesigned steering is a hot item. I handles better than our BMW! We are really pleased with its smooth ride and handling.

This is the first GM product in our household. So far (2 months and 2000 miles), we've been *very* pleased with the ride, comfort and overall performance of the Tahoe. We test drove a Yukon Denali, Yukon SLT w/Autoride, and the Tahoe w/Z71. Both my wife and I thought that the Tahoe drove the best of the three (we also drove a '03 Toyota Forerunner, but found the interior/exterior "bland").

We bought one of the first Tahoes when the new "Suburban" bodystyle came out in 1995. It was a great vehicle for family ventures to the beach and nice for hauling groceries and shopping packages. The new model goes well above our previous Tahoe with improved engine performance, ride, and features. A great family SUV for road traveling and long trips.

When I decided to buy the Tahoe I knew I would be spending more than I ever have for any vehicle I ever owned in my life. But I can tell you without hesitation I am glad I did. This vehicle has to be the most comfortable to operate that I have ever experienced. It is like driving a luxury car on a truck chassis. The steering is awesome, it is a tight radius, and very smooth. Maneuvering the truck is extremely easy. Interior controls on dash as well as the L.E.D. driver display information center is a breeze to set up.

Tahoe seems to be very well built. It doesn't have any rattles. I sprung a wiper blade the first time I washed the front windshield, but, it was my fault and the dealership replaced it under warranty.

Six months and 12000 miles later, my suggestion, get one, its the best vehicle I have ever owned. After 12000 miles of driving and in some cases moving heavy loads this auto has exceded all expecations. 20mpg on highway 15 in town. My LT Autoride handels great in all conditions which includes snow, ice, rain, mountain roads and highway. Its ride quality is better than most cars, its faster off the line and performs as good or better than most of the cars on the road and at the same time can carry lots of people and equipment. This is just a wonderful SUV to drive.

The interior comfort is wonderful, XM radio coupled with the Bose is fantastic! Moveable pedals. . . and the Z71 exterior look is quite simply cool. I have owned four other Chevy trucks since '94 and been very pleased with each and every one. My new Tahoe is off to a great start!

I purchased a white 2003 Z71 Tahoe October 2002. This vehicle is incredible looking and great to drive. Chevy has put so much cool stuff in this vehicle that it would take 10 pages to describe everything. The options I added were a sunroof and liftgate rear hatch, everthing else is standard. The drawback of having so much standard equipment is the price. After I added the sunroof and rear lift gate, the sticker price was over $43,500.00. A drawback to the vehicle, besides price, is the fuel consumption (avg. 13.5 MPG). Overall I would say the Z71 is close to perfect if you want something that is a lot of fun to drive and turns heads everywhere you go.

If you are planning to by a Tahoe or GMC, must have Z71 pack. It is costly (over 5K), but value is unbeatable - basicaly Z71 gets you all. From XM radio and on-board computer to towing package and awsome trim. Sticker runs at about 44-45K, but dealers usually will take 5-6k below, which brings it to under 38K

I've owned this beautiful vehicle for one week. On the first day the Ride control failed. My appointment for repair is 8 days later. Can't say I'm impressed with service. It is not a good impression to have a defect after one day of ownership. That said. The car has everything. Really love the features. I would not purchase another car without onstar and XM radio. I hope this vehicle is as reliable as people say.

It drives small for a big car. My wife didn't want anything as big as a Tahoe because she expected it would be hard to drive. She loves the car! I think the engine and the short turning radius are two of the best features. You can actually beat most sedans of the line when the light turns green. The seats are comfortable and the car fits in the garage. The kids love having enough room to spread out and long car trips are so much more enjoyable for everyone.

2002 Tahoe LT with 14,000 miles. I've taken numerous long trips with large amts of cargo. So far, not a single problem. the vehicle has not had to return to the dealer for any reason. Initial build quality and delivery condition was above reproach. Comfort for driver and passengers is impressive. Hwy milage @ 75-80 mph is 17.5 mpg. Could use a little bigger fuel tank for those fishing trips out away from gas stations.

I wish I had read the 2 other reviews here before I ordered my Tahoe. They warned about the Autoride feature. At low speeds the vehicle is fine. At highway speeds it is out and out dangerous. You cannot control this thing at 65mph or above. It wiggles and runs all over the road and if your attention wanders for a second you might find yourself under a truck or wrapped around a bridge support. The dealer tells me this is normal for the autoride and there have been numerous complaints about stability. I agree. This truck is dangerous.
