I bought this car used with 17k in 2005 for $17k. It now has 224k and still runs well. I've had a few problems but that's to be expected through the life of a vehicle. It still gets over 21 miles to the gallon on the interstate and runs very well. The paint (white) has held up well and the interior is solid. I have zero complaints. Maintenance has been intake manifold gasket, alternator, A/C compressor, ball joints, and a transmission electronic module. None of these were devastating and occurred at reasonable mileage. I will not sell it. It is now only worth around $2500 - $3000 on the street but it is worth much more than that to me. The 4 wheel drive is excellent. This thing will go in the snow. I'm easily out when most people are stuck at home. I gave it a four because anything can be improved. GM did good on this.

Bought it with 1Mile on it back in 2003

I take care of my cars. I can say this one has taken care of me. Comfy ride, in the 10 years that I've owned it, minus the normal wear and tear items I've replaced the fuel injection spider ($1000 repair). I needed to replace all the ball joints for inspection, which I did myself this weekend. Add up all the repairs at normal garage costs, $3000 in 10 years. That's great.

I bought my 2003 Blazer zr2 at 120,000 kms (about 72,000 miles)about 1 1/2 years ago but I got a killer deal on it Only $4,500 but this price reflected the work it needed. Needed new tires rear brakes were seized new calipers, rotors and pads and needed an o2 sensor. In the past year and a half I have changed the lower ball joints both rear drive shaft u-joints front drive shaft (it has a C.V. style joint that's $500 new, picked a used one up for $100) and the idler arm (keep in mind i do a fair amount of off-roading/light rock crawling) This truck is TOUGH! nose dived HARD into a ditch and still drives straight as an arrow no damag Tailgate squeak? oil hinges. spare rattles? adjust latch

I have purchased GM vehicles for the past 20+ years. My last new purchase was a 2003 Blazer the vehicle has been a lemon from day 1. I have always taken care of my vehicles and done the recommended maintenance. Here's a list of some of the problems I've had with this car: Trans line leaks @3000 miles, car shuts off for no reason @ less than 20,000 miles, power windows work intermittently, small side rear window leaks during rain, making seatbelts wet, fuel gauge problems, wipers don't park, wheel bearings needing replacing @ 40,000miles, rear brakes seized up, U-joints needed replacing @ 70,000 miles, Rear differential seal blew-out @ 100,000 miles, Trans died @ 150,000 miles. GM sucks!

Love my ZR2!

I have put over 100,000 KMs on my 2003 Blazer ZR2 (current odometer reads 206,000 KMs) and the only thing other than maintenance I have ever had to do was the head gasket. This is is a fault on a lot of Chevy/GM vehicles from these years. She is so reliable though! Other than the tailgate squeak, which I am in the process of fixing, I have no complaints with this fast accelerating, smooth off-road driving, snow loving vehicle! If you want fuel economy, buy a Prius (lame). If you want a vehicle that is extremely reliable and comfortable, than buy a Blazer.

I love my 2003 blazer

Wow I was really shocked at some of the comments I've seen on here. First off I really believe that the way a truck works depends on how you drive it and maintain it! I am not saying that the people aren't taking care of it but the owners beforehand didn't. As for the worst gas milage I did agree untill I changed my fuel pump omg It saved me a lot of money and I didn't even change it because it was broke! If you drive like an idiot and go 55mph from stop sign to stop sign you will waste so much gas in anything. I go out the mountain every weekend and I have and always will buy Chevy's! The one and only thing I hate is changing the spark plugs because it is soooo tight in there!

I bought my 2003 Chevy Blazer in June 2006, making me the 2nd owner. It had 32,000 miles and was just under warranty! By the time the warranty was up, about 2 months, the ball joints needed replaced as well as brakes and rotors. Had all work done under warranty! About every 15-20,000 miles, it has to have the ball joints replaced for some reason. I now have 86,000 miles on it and it is due for ball joints again. Also, my air conditioner quit working as well as my driver's side window. THESE ARE VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS! Also, have to do brakes and rotors about once a year. It is a good vehicle to drive though, especially with the sun-roof open and the cd player going. Great in snow!

We bought this SUV used in 2005 for hauling building materials. It was the only SUV with a rear gate that folded down to extend the bed for loading lumber. We love the rear gate & having 4 doors. It is so convenient! We get at least 20 mpg & the only problem was a wiper that came loose & needed to be tightened. We change the oil every 3000 mi and the vehicle has given us no problems. I had to write after reading other unfavorable comments. The vehicle has been so good that I wanted readers to have a balanced view.

Bought this ZR2 4X4 used (3600mi) because it appeared to be set up to handle back country (skid plates, big tires, upgraded shocks, etc) and offered more room and comfort than CJ style Jeep. Mine is yellow like the picture and has most options. Have had no problems (except a little oil drip) now at 24000mi. Just figured out it has grease fittings on stearing linkage! It is not as tight as my 98 Ford F150. Has performed well in rough conditions. Gas milage never over 20mpg. Tire on back contributes to already dangerous rear vision limits. Back seat entry difficult. Filling gas tank to top needs slow pump speed. Overall I like this vehicle for the Rocky Mountain area where I live.

I purchased this car 8 months ago, and I am already looking to trade it in. It was a fun car at the beginning, but with 14 mpg and 16-18 on the highway, it is not worth it. Also, my 2003 looks exactly like every other Blazer model. Not complaining, but I would have liked some exterior updates to show some kind of evolution. I will hopefully be able to get some money out of it to trade it in.

Though it would be better on fuel and save me some money, as it turns out I have been putting more repair money in it than fuel money. rear hatch wiper motor first then the ignition switch, followed by a computer,2 fuel injectors, wheel bearings, brake caliper, upper and lower ball joints, and the sun roof leaks (still). The check engine light has been on now again for 2 and a half months but I am afraid to take it in. even if it is the filters the dealer replaces every time it is more money than I want to spend on this lemon that now has 46000 miles, and about $5800 in repairs in the last 3 years

Used '03 Blazer has one issue after another since purchase over a year ago. I had to replace a ball joint, ignition switch, and now the mass air flow sensor after being tested for hesitation when accelerating. This does not include many minor repairs. These are just the most costly. I understand wear and tear, but this is ridiculous. Problems that just baffle me are the passenger seat belt doesn't clip every time you have to push in button. That to me is a major red flag for safety. The driver's seat won't tilt forward anymore. After about three months the cd player quit working. I was told by GM that it will be cheaper to replace. I think it will be cheaper to replace the car than parts!

I am a tractor-trailer driver not speed racer.I bought used with 51000mi,clean title,1prv.own,and had to have the cd player fixed upon purchase,(broken again, junking rather than fixing it again.)Owned since thanksgiving 06 and had 5 alignments done on it(no worn or broken parts found,no pothole hit)torsion bars realigned to normal height 2x, my tires were brand new 11/06!Now I need new ones, I cannot drive through construction zones and must dodge any and all imperfections in the road or pay for another alignment. Thankfully I never planned on driving it off road.Should have kept my 91 Blazer, never a single prob-and i learned to drive on it!

I bought my Blazer new. I liked the 4x4 look to it, and wanted another SUV. I have had to warranty replace the CD player. Also warranty work on stabilizer bar. My exhaust also kept running after I shut vehicle off. Dealer finally fixed. Water leakage in rear side windows, repaired once, just started leaking again now in"07. Water runs all across header and drips all over inside rear. Oil cooler lines also were leaking, water pump too, and ball joints. Luckily this was all repaired under warranty. The carpet wore through just after one year by the gas pedal. I have driven two Jeep Cherokee Sports before this purchase, never had any problems. Will probably not buy another Chevy SUV.

All in all it is an OK SUV. I wouldn't purchase another one. The inside of the vechicle is not big enough to haul or carry enough people if you have to use car seats. It is not a family SUV. The gas mileage is terrible. I have to fill up the tank once a week just for grocery shopping and taking the kids to school.

I've got about 45,000 on this SUV with no problems. It's the most functional vehicle I've ever owned. The interior is not trendy but very driver-friendly. The size is great, not as big as my wife's new Trailblazer, but big enough to seat 4 with ease with plenty of cargo room. The truck frame and engine, the Vortec, make it less refined but more durable than many of the newer SUVs. It's great in the snow, and there's enough muscle in the engine to handle passing on the interstate. I've been thinking of trading it in on a newer SUV, but it's hard to find anything I like better. I also like the styling, it's big but not imposing.

Bought used with 32k miles. In stock configuration it is a dog. After installing new exhaust, cold air intake and using a Hypertech programmer, it runs much better. Quite a bit of body flex when offroad on moderate to easy 4x4 trails. Decent clearance. Limited modification potential due to offset of wheels. Very comfortable on and off road ride.

This is the first Blazer I ever owned, however I've been around numerous Blazers throughout my life, and they really are good solid SUV's. I do agree that ever since the Trailblazer came along the Blazer is not respected the way it was back in the day, and it still should be. The engine and drivetrain are tough and were tuned for truck work. If you are looking for a reliable, dependable, solid, smooth running vehicle that has 4-wheel drive with a low price, the Blazer deserves a test drive. I probably would have purchased the Trailblazer since it is a bigger vehicle, however I don't care for the Vortec 4200 aluminum inline-6 as I feel that it will not hold up as good over time as the 4.3 does

I've owned my Blazer for just over a year and put 12,000 miles on it, no real complaints thus far. It actually rides quite nice considering the old chasis, and the cabin is very quiet on the highway. If you buy one, accept that you are buying a truck, not a Rav4 or CRV. The good news is it can handle truck-type work and moderate off-roading without a problem. I have a rare 5 speed model, my only complaint that it tends to grind 2nd until the fluid has warmed up. I've also had it leak water twice on me - I chalked it up to not closing the sunroof the first time, but if it happens again its going to the dealer.

Friday, day 7, dealer says bad O2 sensor/1 plug, I asked why not all six sparks?" They're not bad". OK, I'll replace them myself. 445pm:Left & drove approx 2mi.in traffic,SES on again! Went back, 5pm,service gone. Spoke to Sales Mgr about the 1 plug replaced and why not all six?,"He'll fix, take truck home" O.K.Took to VT, 800mi w/SES light on, perfect ride, no problems. Monday:dropped off. Tuesday: "Your truck's ready, another O2 was bad, wire harness was crimped, and replaced a PCM" I know thats the computer!Waranteed ,Day 29:oil leak/loose oil filter hose! Uhg!

Rained last week had a gallon of water come out of the headliner. Drivers window fell out of the track while driving and fell inside of the door. Grease fittings on steering linkage installed backwards could not grease. Has a ton of rattles and noises in the interior. Remember your first Tonka Truck as a child ? This truck is that little kids fantasy come to life ! It goes through snow like it wasn't there. It rides decent for a truck but has a few blind spots with the rear door tire and back seat headrests.(when no one is in the back seat I put the headrests down to improve visibility - it helps!) The gas mileage is rough and one of my side mirrors had a stress fracture but service has been quick and courteous at the dealership. I was very dissappointed with the trade-in value after only one year as I would have liked to upgrade to a 2004 model of the same truck.

I like the way the Blazer 2 door looks. It is also very comfortable for a tall man. Other SUV's in its range do not have the head and leg room that the Blazer has. The V6 has enough power but I do have to step on it sometimes to get the job done. The transmission hangs on 1st gear a little long but overall the trans works well. The quality of the vechile is superior.

Having bought this four door Blazer about 8 months ago, I have been pleasantly suprized. Having vowed to never buy another GM product again after numerous, and costly repairs for an Olds. The Blazer has decent build quality, and is quite comfy inside, if not a little drab with a grey interior. I do wish it had a bit more power though. I added a K&N open air induction, with a "Tornado". It is like night and day, especially when passing that semi, uphill!!

LOVING my 1st SUV, my Chevy Blazer

Alot of problems....I have been in and out of the shop for things breaking....tailights have gone out twice....Ride is very rough and gas is not the greatest...but my service dept. has been great...they get me in and out and always fix the problem the first time no questions asked and no hassles...Thank goodness they are there.

I have owned 2 of these Blazers. The first one was a 1999 and had to let go back with my ex husband because of a divorce. I now own a 2003. I love these vehichles. I can't believe Chevrolet wants me to pick, when it is time to trade, on a boxy, overpriced TrailBlazer or the inferior and ugly Tracker. I looked at the TrailBlazer and I could not believe the price tag on this thing. I usually trade every 2to4 years and am a die hard Chevy buyer. I have owned 5 S-10's. From what I have seen, the Jeep Liberty will be my next pick.

I have a 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer with a Tahoe package and I love it. This vehicle has 165000 miles on it and refuses to die. t burns very little oil at first start up after it has been sitting but other than that it's fine.I have the high performance engine which has 200 horses and 260 torque and it pulls a 4100 pound boat at 70 with very little trouble. That is in overdrive. The only trouble I had with it was when I had to have the transfer case rebuilt, but it was worth it.It gets between 16 and 19 mpg in town and 17 to 24 on the highway depending on how you drive.

Horrible vehicle!! It's been in the shop 7 times in the last 8 months, 6 for the same HVAC problem and once due to a transmission casing issue. Customer service in 3 states has been horrible, the customer service line provided in the manual is of no help. I'll never buy another Chevy vehicle again!!

I have a 1998 Blazer LT 4WD that I bought used with 59,000 miles. The drivetrain is terriffic! It pulls my 4300 lb. boat/trailer plus equipment with not nearly the strain one would think. It uses absolutely no oil whatsoever even after 5000 miles. The drivetrain really is A1! I have the metallic silver paint job and it is flawless. The stereo is awesome. Cons? I've had to replace the ball joints, u- joints, water pump, front right bearing assembly, driver's power window motor. The interior plastic trim pieces could be of higher finish quality and are rather brittle. The front end styling could be more attractive.

Beautiful!!!

This was a great car, although - there was a problem with the door on the passenger side - as I found in my last Chevy vehicle where the door seems to split from the frame and the window rattles.. which is very annoying. Otherwise, it has been a great car.

Sorry to tell you this, but your Jimmy/Blazier will cause you nothing but headaches.. My wife has a 98 Jimmy with endless problems and has already rolled it due to its narrow design. I am sorry you spent alot of money on this SUV. We did too! and the resale value has dropped or dumped from $33000 new to 13000 in just 5 years! Lots of problems that the dealer refused to fix under warrenty. Had to threaten to sue to get it fixed... I hope you GMC works out better for you then ours did.. Bought a Honda Pilot... Best desision we ever made. and resale is going to be great too.. goodluck

Decent enough gas mileage for an SUV. Good power, but not great. The main problems with this SUV are its extremely narrow stance, when compared to its height and length. When passed by a large truck, this vehicle will shimmy and sway on the road - something the newer Explorer doesn't do. Very scary. Also, if you have to brake suddenly, this vehicle tends to veer. Definitely a very high center of gravity, even for an SUV. No sudden movement feels safe. It's a decent low-end SUV but careful how you drive it!

I picked up the truck and drove 1300 miles to DC. The truck drove very nicely on the highway and had no problems accelerating at any time. The drivers side headlight was way out of alignment (pointing at the sky) and a spare bolt was found near the front windshield wiper. Twice during the drive, when the vehicle was placed into reverse, the whole truck felt like it backed into something. I think it's a transmission problem, but it's pretty major. An issue I am waiting to take to the dealer for service. The truck drives and handles very well. Pleasure to drive. Just a little hungry for fuel but way better than my old 1994 blazer. same engine

It is a nice car and it handles well. Good for families with children. If you want a larger S.U.V. I suggest you buy a Chevy Tahoe or Suburban. I have found out that the exterior body style is a tad out of date. It is a smaller sibling of the new TrailBlazer. Overall, it is a great S.U.V. to drive.
