Very reliable! Never had issues with this truck, its a blessing. Of course like any vehicle with 160, 000 u have minor issues that need tweaking but take care of your truck an she'll take care of you. I also purchased a tent that fits in the truck bed! Just take out the back window and drop the "middle" gate an have access to interior of the truck from the tent, so perfect for cold nights when u need to pump some heat to the tent. This truck isn't just our way to get around its part of the family

I LOVE this truck

A couple of years ago I went shopping for a used truck. I wasn't really in the market for an Avalanche. While I was at a Chevrolet dealer in the Atlanta, GA area test driving a Silverado, the salesperson suggested that I test drive a one owner Avalanche Z66 without the cladding. Out of curiosity I took her for a spin and OMG!!, am I ever glad I did. When I got back to the dealer I bought it immediately. I never really thought I would like an Avalanche until I owned one. I love everything about this truck and the previous owner took excellent care of it. It still looks new. Almost everywhere I go I get compliments on it. Just last night when I arrived at a restaurant someone in the parking lot approached me to try to buy it. This truck has the best ride, drives better, and is more comfortable than anything I've ever owned, including my wife's 2008 Tahoe. In my opinion the interior is MUCH nicer in the 2006 and down Chevy trucks. I hate the interior in the 2007 and up trucks. I will never step up to a newer model truck until they change that UGLY cheap looking hard plastic interior and low grade leather in the newer models no matter how good the exterior is. Anyway, I love the way the Avalanche drives, the power of the 5.3, the ride, convenience, comfort, roomy, locking side tool boxes that double as a cooler, locking tailgate and I mean you name it and I like it. Too bad they stopped building them! If you can find a good used 2006 and down, I would highly recommended it.

Love the Avalanche but last 10,000 miles has been difficult!

It is the best of both worlds. An SUV with the ability to haul stuff that you would not want in the back of your SUV. I 've hauled trees, plants, bags of fertilizer, and rocks.I own a 2003 Z66 with the cladding on the sides. At about the 100,000 mile mark the wheels just fell off. Not literally of course but it seemed that little stuff was going wrong all the time. My water pump went out, then my CD player, then my dash board lights, then the ever popular popping noise in the front end when you turn at slow speeds. Now I have a noise by my glovebox that sounds like someone dropping BB's on a tile floor over an over again. Still waiting on a fix for the popping noise. I still like it.

I love my truck. Ive had all three American made trucks and have never had a truck like this. Its well balanced and gets around better in ice, snow, and mud like no other half ton 4x4 Ive ever been in. The highway ride is unmatched. None of the other trucks seats feel like these. It hasnt given me any troubles. Its got 114 k miles on it and I get 18 mpg on the highway. Show me another 4x4 that does that! All three of my kids fit comfortably and they are all teens. My oldest is almost 5'6" tall.

We have owned this vehilce since new and used it to tow our 35' Travel Trailer extensively; a boat; & a U Haul Trailer. It has been perfect for this and has never given us a moments concern or worry. Without a doubt the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned - carried building materials; Christmas trees; helped my daughter's family move from Florida to Georgia including putting the ride-on mover on the truck bed with no problems. We have now done over 125k miles and I am still on the original brakes. We had one recurring warranty issue with the front steering 'rattling' but this was fixed by Chevrolet on the 2nd review.

This is a great truck and family vehicle all in one. I have owned suburbans and this allows the large quad seating area for the family when needed and then haul dirt with having to worry about destroying the interior. Mission accomplished for multi purpose vehicle. Performance is great as I tow boats and trailers regularly. 3/4 ton would have been nice at times but for the average person not needed, probably why they discontinued the option.

The top parking light housing are like a piece of candy. the inside clamp that you snap the light in breaks super easy. Also the main driving light has a silver cap on the inside housing that falls off from the inside and eventually blows the inside bulb out. i'm writing this because something has to be done because this is my third top light housing that broke. This is my first main light housing that broke.

Leather seats are very comfortable but heated seat on driver's side stoped working shortly after purchase. Interior squeaks and rattles all over!!! (dash, console, doors, etc.) MPG is horrible sticker said 12-16, this one gets 12.5 going down hill on the highway and that's on a good day!!Bed cover leaks like it's not even there!! Tranny and drive line pops, dangs and jerks carnival ride! I'm going bankrupt on fuel, trading for Ford or Dodge ASAP!!

I bought my avalanche in june of 2003 at 2 years old the transmission went out and it doesn't jet out like it used to. Then it leaks water inside because it got hailed on and now its messed up so i think it might have shorted my electrical system because my airbag light came on. Then my passenger window recently went out so.

I gave up my 2001 Toyota Tacoma d-cab for a used Z-71 with 50,000 miles over 3 years ago. For a family of 5, the usability of the back seats is second to none. Where the Toyota 3.4L V6 screamed to tow my boat, the Avalanche handles it like nothing. The flexibility of the mid-gate is terrific. The bed tonneau panels are easy to remove and have remained water tight. The truck has a smooth ride on the road but can still perform off-road. Now I have 87,000 miles and only problem has been the rear power door locks have frozen up and need to be opened manually.

This is absolutely an awsome vehicle, when it works. Bought it used with 75,000kms, had a few problems with it not starting in -15C the first winter but overall it ran good. Last year we started having issues, we bought it for $26,000 and we've put $18,000 back into it in maintenance ($8,000 in the last 6 months) . We can't get it running long enough to sell it. Had the entire front end torn apart a few times but no one can find the problem.

This vehicle was/is a Godsend. We purchased it as a promotion present for me when I became a police lieutenant. Little did we know that we would end up living in it when I became disabled in 2004. We have towed a 28 ft travel trailer from New Mexico to Florida then to Oregon then back to Florida and finally settled down in Oregon. It currently has 128322 miles, most of those occurred by 2006,(2 years). It has not spent one day in the shop due to a breakdown or malfunction. A few things had to be addressed during maintenance (like minor recalls) but so far we have been and are thrilled with it.

Great Investment!

Purchased new and have never regretted it! We wanted the bench seat and the only way to get it was to buy a stripped version - ours has no options at all, but it's got everything we really need, and then some. Power locks & windows, A/C, cruise, CD. The bed & midgate get used regularly for everything from furniture to lumber to yard projects. We have had "0" mechanical problems. Now that gas is so high, better mileage would be great, but still there is no better all around family vehicle.

My daily driver, inherited at 89k; now 120k. Constant electrical problems. Wheel/steering shimmy. Tailgate cables broke. Electrical: tach and fuel gauge occasionally misread, reduced engine power comes on on cold starts and not as over-heating protection; AC comes on in recirc mode, rear door locks only work manually and they keep blowing unlock relay fuse, difficulty starting-starter may be wearing out. Lumbar support is terrible for drives over an hour, but who can afford to drive that far anyway? Ring and pinion gears needed replacement at 115K. I've read tons of problem blogs regarding electronics. Is this truck a lemon?

I love this truck so much. It has been 100% reliable and for a V-8 gets excellent gas mileage. It still looks and drives like brand new! This has been the best drive of my life and I've owned 4 other Chevy trucks(they were great, too), a Ford and 2 Dodges (didn't keep them long!)This is by far the coolest looking Avalanche out there-my opinion. scores a solid 10!

From the minute I first saw an advertisement for an Avalanche, I knew it would be my next vehicle. It has never disappointed me in the four years I've had it. On long trips it is absolutely ideal, with plenty of room for luggage as well as our three dogs. The ride is smooth, leg room is plentiful, and it handles like a luxury car. I would recommend buying an Avalanche to anyone who's ever thought of getting a large SUV.

I have enjoyed this vehicle greatly. My biggest negative was the average in- town gas mileage of 12.5mpg with the 5.3liter engine. Had I known that ahead of time I would have bought the 2500 model with the 8.1 liter which gets almost the same mileage with 50% more horsepower and tons more torque. The body integrity is about what you expect from Chevrolet. When it falls off you can put it back on, if you can find it. I don't know of any other truck in the maketplace I'd rather have so when I buy again I look at the Avalanche first.

I love my 2003 Avalanche. It is the Northface Package with the cool grey leather and the grey metallic paint. My truck has everything and I bought a superchip and programed it. Also I put some nice tires on the stock rims, looks sweet. Also I chromed all the stock stuff out. For example, the back Chevy letters bought on ebay. MPG is pretty good in city, stays around 14, and highway about 19. The chip seems to help with my MPG.

Drives great, gas mieage is good I think considering the truck and its capabilities. After all, gas mileage in an V-8 is really up to the driver! I've always loved 4-door pick up trucks and I was for 3 years the proud owner of an Explorer Sport Trac but had been looking to replace it with a bigger more comfortable truck so I could feel more secure on the heavy traffic of the I-10. The Avalanche was the obvious answer. Better comfort ride, stronger transmission and more luxurious than the sport trac and actually has the same fuel economy as my old truck. I bought it used but it rides just as new.

Well let's start with the bulletproof drivetrain. 295 hp, rock solid and quick... great transmission. Interior is great, not too flashy and very comfortable seats. The truck is very useable, the bed is decently large, and the cover works as a tonneau. I have driven this truck on over 4500 mile road trips and will not stop going. I have just passed 80,000 miles and not a single problem. Gas mileage is around 15.5 in town and over 19 on the highway.

I am a new/used Avalanche owner, and I am so happy with my purchace. Somebody pinch me. I traded in a '99 Tahoe, which I was very happy with, but we were approaching 100,000 miles, and hubby said it was time to trade it in. I only test drove Avalanches, because I liked the size and interior of my Tahoe, but would like the versatility of the box for bikes, fishing poles, etc. Also love the look. Love the zip, steers like a car, so so happy.

I had an F150 before the Avalanche. The Avalanche's ride and quietness rivals that of a quality sedan. Bose stereo is incredible. Love the midgate and what it allows you to do. No other truck can do what this truck does. I've used this feature several times and am glad I had this vehicle. A negative would be having to move the fronts seats foward to allow the rear seat to fold down to fully lower the midgate. A removable rear seat headrest would solve the problem. I now have 71000 miles and have yet to do anything but normal oil changes. Brakes are original still. Still love the truck

This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Great comfortable ride, great towing performance, good fuel economy. I use this truck for towing a 28 foot trailer. Only time I needed service (besides regular service) was for the minor recalls by company. I am looking forward on getting the tent accessory for the back for camping. Rides better than my 2005 GM midsize. OnStar very good.

This is the perfect vehicle for someone who needs a truck, but would rather have an SUV. I've had mine for almost three years now and still haven't seen a vehicle that I would rather have. In fact I'm thinking about trading this one in for a new one soon. I sometimes fold the midgate down, take off one panel, and am able to haul 12' metal studs. It's also nice to be able to haul 8' drywall or plywood completely dry. I don't use it for this very often, but it sure is nice in a pinch. I also love having the bed panels, it allows me to haul quite a few tools in the dry.

My Z66 Avalanche is the best truck I have ever owned, and I have had several over the years. I added a Gibson exhaust, K&N air filter and the computer adjustments. The truck runs awesome. The only problem I have had in 28,000 miles is the steering shaft, since it was replaced, nothing, not even brakes. It tows my trailer with two big bikes in it like nothing is even there. I recently added 20" wheels and I get lots of comments on the "green monster." The truck is comfortable for five adults and the ride is more like a car than a truck, very smooth. I use the fold down feature often, mostly leaving the rear window in place and folding the lower section (for ladders etc.). Excellent!!!

I have had my Avalanche(Z-66) for 1 year now. I bought it used & I can tell you this is one awesome Chevy truck. It's bright red & a head turner. I get compliments all the time. It has everything but the kitchen sink in it. .It has a very comfortable ride for a truck . No other competitor can touch this baby! ! Even with the two wheel drive, she glides through the snow like Santa on his sleigh. It's a heavy truck, and tracks through the snow & mud with ease. . Although she likes her fuel, I did not but this vehicle for economy, but since installing a K&N filter and switching to premeium fuel, she runs like a dream. Went from 14.5 to 17.5 mpg. Thanks Chevy for one awesome truck! !

I ordered My Avalanche while stationed in Japan without ever test driving one. I was not disappointed. We now live in Germany and get lots of attention and questions from the locals. It is definately one of the most comfortable trucks I've ever driven and it has no problems getting up to speed on the Autobahn. My only complaint is the speed limiter switch kicks in at about 100 MPH. Parking in German garages can be a little nerve racking with it's size, but it will fit. Since it is the only 4 wheeled vehicle we have here the ability to carry the family or lots of cargo is very nice. We wouldn't trade it for anything.

We'll I bought it because of the bed conversion capability. It seemed like a good idea, but in actuality more of a hassle to convert to full bed. The bed panels are a chore to remove and store. If you plan on using the full bed a lot, then get a regular pickup! No issues with the engine, but that's where it ends. In 2.5 years I've been to the dealer for new rotors and pads all around at 5,000 miles, steering shaft replacement, Bose radio replacement, rear window replacement, faded cladding, center mount brake light replacment, regrease steering shaft, failed rear end, and failed transmission. All fortunately covered under warranty except the tranny. I baby the thing. I've never towed or gone off road.

I love my truck. There is plenty of room for all 3 of my kids, and my wife. The DVD rear entertainment center keeps the kids happy too. The only thing I have noticed is a slight rattling felling through the steering wheel. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, or has the same feeling ?

Never throught I would be in love with a truck! When I drive my sister around in it she doesn't want to get out of it!Most people don't think it's mine. (cause I'm a female) I love being "Up High" It handles like a luxury car. I haven't had it long but find it very reliable. Being a woman I wouldn't hesitate driving it anywhere. The only thing I have to complain about is that all other doors have a bar to grab when someone gets in the car,EXCEPT THE DRIVER SIDE! WHY????? Can it be installed now? All I can say is that I will be enjoying my 2004 Avalanche for many years to come. Thank you Snooki

When my wife first saw one of these she said it was the ugliest things she ever saw. I liked them, brought one home for her to drive. After taking it to the store once, and on errands the next day, she came home and said it was the best driving vehicle of it's size she had ever seen. She said she could see better, and felt very secure. I bought her one and now she has told me repeatedly she will drive nothing else.

Tried their Silverado, but salesman/finance guy pointed out price of Avalanche. Being very happy with leased Burban, we were impressed with suspension and overall ride/handling of it!A great find!Had always liked the boxyness of it's styling but thought would be priced higher than average 4drs. Picked out an Arrival Blu WITH "armour" pakage and have never looked at another truck since! The conversion capability is priceless. Just a quick 1-10 minute change depending on what I need. I'm a snowboard instructor in VT and the 4WD, and the ability to comfortably carry 5 (bucket seats) and gear without a roof rack (they're dirty anyway) or even converting is clutch. With all this comes cost though. It takes quite a bit more time to clean and condition all the seals plus all the maintence of 4WD. Then again, there's not a lot of paint to wax :) Also it is a bit of an ordeal to add any sub woofers and miantain the conversion capability. If you want to know more see chevyavalanchefanclub. com

The Toyota and Ford lacked in power, The Dodge felt like a go-cart, The Avalanche felt like a SUV, but had the function of a truck and the room and comfort that only SUV's had. I was hell-bent on buying the New Ford F-150 but after one test drive I was hooked on the Avalanche, this is one decision I am glad I made, WOW what a truck.

Purchased in July 2003, and I now have 6,500 miles on it. There have been zero problems with it. The only work needed was oil changes. Fuel economy here in a New England winter, short driving distances, runs about 10.5 mpg. Summer will take it up to 12.5. It is an exceptionally quiet vehicle, in terms of both interior and engine noise. The only complaint is that there should be more use of fabric instead of just plain plastic.

Almost weekly I am reminded of why I bought this truck--versatility with comfort and plenty of passengar and storage room. We comfortably travel with a family of four and there is a ton of room to store bags, strollers, and the like. Fuel economy blows, especially when gas is like $1.75 and you have a 35 gallon tank, but I would recommend this truck to anyone who wants an SUV and the flexibility to haul things in a truck bed. Love it, Love it, Love it.

My experience has been one of dissatisfaction. Knocking in the engine, oil consumption, irregular tire wear, flutter in the dash board below the windshield, grinding in the front end(drive Train).I have burned a qt. of oil every 1000 mi. since I purchased the vehicle, and the engine knock sounds like a diesel.Though not all vehicles are experiencing the problems I have, it appears a number of them are experiencing some of the problems I have when refering to the TSB quick look. I bought my Avalanche new in 2001. It's been in the shop at least 7 times because the carpets are constantly soaked. The dealer keeps trying to tell me the drains are clogged. WHAT DRAINS and WHY ARE THEY CLOGGED??? The last time it was in they showed me 2 holes in the floor at the front of the bed under a flap . I was told by the SERVICE MANAGER " your not supposed to use it like a truck because its an SUV." I was using it to bring leaf bags to the dump. Nothing major....right?

Our 2002 Northface Avalanche is the best truck we've ever driven. The handeling is great, easy to drive, very comfortable. I call it my Mercedes on steroids. It always performs like a pro, always able to do what I need. From flowers to plywood, to china cabinets to family. Very minimal road noise and good sound system. The mileage is good for a truck of this size. Would not give it up for anything on the road today.

Our Avalanche came with the WBH option (Without Body Hardware). We decided that less is more in this case because the body hardware, also called side cladding, on the Avalanche is an awful lot of extra surface area to Armor- All. Our vehicle is a dark charcoal, and looks very coordinated with the windows tinted (Las Vegas weather). This truck/SUV is fantastic. It is beautiful, rides very smoothly, rides high for excellent freeway visibility, is very quiet, and is extremely powerful, even with the 1500 5.3 litre engine!

Outstanding so far!

Have had the truck since Spring and really have grown to love it! Smooth ride and good looks. Took our camper out west and had no problems going through the mountains - as expected. While towing got between 13 & 14 mpg through the mountains - not great, but I knew what I was getting when I purchased! One minor flaw in the truck portion which the dealer fixed easily.

I purcahsed this vehicle for my wife and she loves it. So does my 24 year old daughter. So much so that she is going to buy one too. We love everything about this vehicle. Gas mileage is about you should expect for a vehicle this size. It really turns heads everywhere we go, including mine, I can't stop looking at it. If anyone is thinking of buying a full size crew cab truck, I would strongly suggest taking a look at this vehicle.

I purchased my Avalanche in early June of this year. We have had it on a few road trips and it rides great on the road. We just got back from towing our boat on a 7 hour trip and the Avalanche did great. It has the power to tow and the ride of a luxury auto. I especially like the quietness of the ride, no air noise while on the highway.

(the avalanche has a tent and air matress that can be purchased for it.. which to me is a good investment.. all in all, its a good truck...

Gutsy SUV combo, many uses. Will fit in most gargages at home. Solves trade off of long length with midgate.Owned my '03 Z71 Avalanche since December 2002, equiping with Convenience and Personal Security Packages, Sunroof, Leather and HD Tow Pkg. Best vehicle I've even owned in over 30 years of driving. Solid and rugged. Chevy did something unique with the Avalanche. If you're not accustom to larger SUV's or pickups this may not be the vehicle for you. However, if you want something tough but comfortable and can climb into the vehicle, you found it. "Like A Rock" -- I love my Avalance.

I have always been a truck consumer. I had overlooked the Avelanche in the past thinking it was a gimick vehicle. After driving it and really looking at all it has to offer, I am hoping that in three years when I need to replace this vehicle there will still be another one available. I love this truck and all of its features.

At first I didnt like the looks of the Avalanche. Neighbors bought one and I soon began to like the utility then the looks began to attract me. So I picked up a white full armor unit and I love it! 10K so far and no problems. I get from 15 to 21 mpg which os great for a big car/truck like this. My cousins 2003 Expedition gets 13 to 16 mpg so the Chevy gets an excellent on mpg. The vehicle is comfortable, drives like a luxury car has utility like a truck. I highly recommned this vehicle to anyone interested in a vehicle that does it all. Super Job GM! Oh by the way the 5.3 Avalanche will smoke the 5.4 Expedition throught the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile!

I have a 7 yr, 5 yr, 7 month year old and my wife has a baby on the way. I had some GM card rebate so I looked at every GM car that sat 6+ passengers. I have always had trucks so wanted a bed if possible. I didn't even look at the Avalanche at first because I always thought it was ugly and didn't even consider it. I looked at TrailBlazer, 4 door Silverado, Venture, and Tahoe. Luckily my rep convinced me to look at it....loved it and never looked back. For you parents out there.....what sealed the deal was the airbag sensor in the front seats - 4 door trucks like Silverado don't have it - so it's safe for kids in the front seat of the Avalanche.

Super truck! A co-worker who owned one tried to get us to try one. We didn't like the style so never test drove it. Then it came out WBH. Awesome! We actually prefer this over our Chevy Suburban. Extremely quiet, smooth riding, great turning radius. Luv the 'door ajar alert', rear center shoulder belt, roominess. But it is a little nerve racking when backing up.

I've had this truck since early April of 2003 and I've never seen so many grinning faces. My truck is an Arrival Blue and it looks great! Cound not get the price I wanted to find it here (Long Island, NY) but the prices are almost non-negotiable, so I bought it on line. I had to fly (45 minutes) to save $4000. I've taken it a few places and didn't have any problems with it. One thing though, The steering is very "vauge".

Should have read ALL reviews before buying. Water Management System does not meet my needs for dry cargo space. Tried to salvage vehicle investment with Snugtop/GM XUV cap. X = eXpensive, but would be worth it if it kept water out. It doesn't. Snugtop sales said "Of course it's watertight"; now service says "weather resistant not waterproof"; no other response to dealer request for help. Have owned truck 33 days (25 with rain), 500 miles. Am trading it in tomorrow. Performance item: auto. transmission slow to downshift (book says to floor it!), but may be normal; have had manual transmissions for 35 years.

I`ve only had this truck for three months but it ROCKs. I`ve owned an F150 SuperCrew and a TOYota Tundra. Neither compare. This truck rides great and can haul 5 people(I have the bucket seats). The other day I had to carry some 2x6x8`s I just dropped the midgate and bam! I`ve got 8 ft. of bed space. This thing does great it has more power and I get the same mileage as the other trucks. I would recomend this truck to anyone that has a family but still needs to haul stuff every now and then.

First of all I must confess, I used to hate trucks and SUVs. After my purchase of the Avalanche, I must confess I really fell in love with it. A lot of people complain about the fuel economy and the exterior styling, but I love the styling and buying the truck knowing the fuel economy, so that should not be the consideration factor. The ride is excellent even with the z71, the usefulness is amazing with the convert-a-cab, and most importantly, it is such a fun vehicle to drive. I would recommend this truck to anyone without reservation.

Sorry I ever saw one of these things. Seemed pretty cool at first but quickly got ugly. Sucks gas like my old Hemi 'Cuda of 1970 vintage. Poor build quality and generally worthless design. Not really a truck and not really an SUV. It gets increasingly uglier every day and the plastic trim everywhere, inside and out, won't stay attached. Will dump it on the used car market soon. Certainly, Dodge and Ford have the edge.

I am very pleased with the Avalanche. Fun to drive and very durable. It has many multiple personalities, looks rugged and luxurious at the same time. Plenty of room for any purpose thrown at it. Five adults can ride comfortably. Good handling and brakes. Acceleration pretty good for a 3 ton beast, sometimes a little weak on the highway on-ramps( need to punch it). Transmission solid, sometimes excessive shifting on hills. Body is beautiful. Fuel economy-nothing to complain about, very good for the size of the truck.

The wife was not crazy about the cladded version; however, one look at the WBH (without body hardware) and we were hooked. Drives great, Smooth. Quiet. Nice full-time 4wd system. And, when you need the room, just take out the window, put the mid-gate down, and your off. Best vehicle I've ever owned!

Acually purchased July5,2001. I love this truck and am fixing to buy another one. Only one major problem. I use truck off road a lot where there are no roads. When I first got I had trouble with the plastic coating on the front bumper. Ever time I touched something or pushed over a small bush or tree the bumper split . Chevolet would not repair or give me a solution to the )I immediately designed a 2-inch tube for a "bush pusher" to be mounted in front of this plastic bumper. It cost me about $5.00 for material, 15 minutes labor and my company epoxy power coated it.

We started looking for something to tow our horse trailer because the Astro van wasn't cutting it. My wife visited a local dealership and drove a Z66 while I was out of town. I was leaning toward a pickup of some type but was concerned about vehicle length since I used to have a '95 extended cab 8' bed. When I drove the Z66 I couldn't believe the ride and handling. Then, when we pulled the trailer it was like nothing was back there. Now I can't get the Av away from my wife to drive myself! I want another one...

Positives: Truck is extremely quite for such a big vehicle - You'll notice it right away whether driving down the highway or through pot holes. Very comfortable except for the front center with bench seats. Cons: Water leak in the rear flatbed and into the cabin (known problem). Backing out was a big issue since the rear of the flatbed stuck up (almost ran several people over). Nice to have.... automatic door locks when driving and also a door- ajar alert..

This truck drives like a dream. It has a soft ride, smooth transmission, and is relatively easy to manuever for a large truck. The leather seats are incredibly comfortable, and there are a lot of bells and whistles available. The only complaint is poor fuel economy, even for a truck. I only have 600 miles on it so far, but am averaging about 13.5 mpg.

It is a joy to drive and has a superb ride. I was pleasantly suprised when I checked the gas mileage on a trip to Dallas...18.9 mpg. That is fantastic for a truck. The interior is both beautiful and functional.

This is one great truck/suv/vehicle. You get the best of all worlds. Very comfortable ride. My only issue is with the plastic clading...it scratches easy, which really sticks out. The only alternative is to order one w/o the clading, but then it looks strange..catch 22. BE AWARE..On-Star will cause issues if you plan to install an after market stereo system. The On-Star is tied to the stock stereo and if you replace the stock deck..no more On-Star. There are converters ($100) to keep On-Star. I wish dealer had told me prior to purchase regarding On_Star issue. Bottom line...great truck!!

GM/Chevrolet produced a nice "two in one" vehicle with the Avalanche/Esclade EXT (although the AV is probably the better bang for the buck). Smooth ride and drives smaller than it looks. Steering is a bit loose, but doesn't pitch badly on turns. Brake pedal is spongy, but still stops well. People who complain about the mileage should buy a smaller 6 cylinder vehicle. Toyota Tundra doesn't do much better with less room. Acceleration is decent, but not overpowering. I've changed the exhaust to duals and it helps. Easy to change. Fun to drive and gets a lot of looks.

Miles per gallon? what do you pepole expect, look at the thing.None of us bought it without thinking this thing looks like it has got some big round ones. It's huge. I Like to see the cadi drivers and know I have the same thing but for half $. Does not bother me about the "leaking cover" (its a truck)remmember? cargo still stays dryer then in the Ramm or f-Series. I just worry like the rest about water in the cab from the mid-gate.

I needed a vehicle that I could use for hauling Home Depot supplies, fire wood, wood chips, dirt and all the other basic home owner truck type activities. I also needed a vehicle to take on family trips, hauling luggage and camping gear. I have 2 growing boys (11&12 yrs old) that have been complaining about being cramped in the back of the my extended cab Dodge Dakota for a couple of years now. The Avalanche is solving all of my needs - it'll haul pretty much anything I need and is a nice big highway cruiser for our many family annual trips - my boys love all of the room in the back seat now! Good ride if you like the suburban. The truck begs to be moded so get ready to spend some money. MPG is fair about 16 for real. Bed area is not water tight and never will be. Area around the wheel wells need protection and better chip resistent paint is needed on the hood. GM could do a lot better job with customer satisfaction. This truck is going to be one of those trucks that ten years down the road needs floor boards that have rusted out form leaking midgate. If you plan on keeping this truck for ever keep it as dry as possible.

The avalanche is a highly usefull and practical truck. The only downside to the avalanche is that you are limited to front seat capacity, 2 or 3 depending on seat option selected, if you utilize the fold down mid gate function. Aside from that minor inconvenience it is one awesome machine. It rides like a full side touring car and corners much better than any truck I ever drove, with Z71 of course. Test drive one and get hooked. The bells and whistles that come standard are better than what you will find on Ford or Dodge.

This truck (Z66,2x2 driving package) drives like a large car, smooth and quiet. The leather seating is comfortable, power is good. Turning radius leaves something to be desired. The styling is definitely for a particular taste. I like that I'm getting a scaled down Cadillac Escalade (Same frame and body is used but with little style and cosmetic changes).I'm interested in how reliable it will turn out to be. I've picked up an annoying speed related noise coming from under the hood at about mile 3,000.

As I was getting out my Avalanche I herd "Hey, is that one of them there change for a dollar trucks?" "Yep," I said. And then it was off on my normal show a tell for the mid-gate for the Avalanche. This truck gets attention, where ever it goes. Rather it's with the mid-gate down and hauling a load of junk to the dump or mid-gate up and rear window in place, hauling the boat to take the family fishing; everyone wants a look at the Avalanche. And I swear, the more attention it gets, the better it runs. Work or play, the Avalanche does it equally well and with style.

This truck is great!

This truck has the ride of a luxury vehicle as compared to other trucks that I have owned in the past. It handles very well as compared to other trucks I test drove before purchasing this one. Others seemed to be top heavy and leaned when making turns. The Avalanche has a very stable and quiet ride.
