2002 Sequoia Trac Control and VSC safety Issue

I owned the 2002 sequoia and had 92k miles on it. In Mar 2016 my wife drove it at 50-55 mph on a high traffic state highway and the trac control and VSC lights came on and the vehicle speed reduced to about 10 mph in a few seconds. She almost got heat by the other cars behind her, but she was able to move to the right and exit the highway safely. I did the search and found out that this model has had safety issue on trac control/VSC, but toyota only recalled on 2003. I took the car to the toyota dealer and he said it just the O2 sensors failure. I looked over his mechanic report and saw another sensor, accelerator paddle control sensor also a problem. However he did not put that on the report to me/customer. He said that it will cost 1300 to repair and he is not recommended to drive it in this condition. I took the car back and sold it few days later for "better safe than sorry"

We just wrapped up a 5500 mile summer road trip from Texas to Canada, through the north east, down the east coast and back. We are a family of 4 and we couldn't have done this without our Sequoia. We took out one of the back row seats & folded up the passenger side middle row seat. The kids were in two different rows and we had coolers for food & drinks. The truck is roomy enough for all of us to spread out for the long haul. Awesome. PLUS, we have never, ever had an engine problem. We replaced the back window motor, but that's it. GREAT truck. Can't imagine having another vehicle.

I have owned my Sequoia since new and have just rolled over 300,000 Miles! This vehicle has been a real workhorse with 5 kids (4 girls - imagine the luggage) and numerous vacations. It has never let us down! The only mechanical issues I have had has been replacement of rear wheel seals twice and front ball joints (due to recall). I can't say enough good things about this vehicle. When clean, it still looks new inside and out. I have never garage kept, but paint in excellent shape. I have found that the rear door window is often faulty, but it is usually not the motor as you'll see on other posts. About 200k miles ago, I put some dieelectric grease in the motor connector prob. solved.

owned since new. brought home with a transmission fluid leak- taken care of and has not been a problem. The rear door handle recently came off for the second time. First time about a year old under warranty. This time $400+ to repair. Had rear window motor replaced at the same time as the window has not worked for the last two years. Another $400 and change. Turn signal has not canceled itself for last year- $700 to fix, said no thanks. Interior pull handles broke months after purchase and driver's seat leather (dealer installed at purchase) is torn. Rear dome light works one out of ten times- dealer unable to find short. First and last Toyota. The car has less than 60K on it.

Sequoia is great for road trips, can hold lots of stuff, mechanically hasn't left me stranded. Best light duty off road ride of any SUV I've ridden. However, it is a pig to drive in town, the exhaust manifold noise, I swear gets louder every day, and this is even after I had the "Tundra" factory recall performed on my Sequoia exhaust manifold. The vehicle has never had better than 15.5 mpg avg. Interior is falling apart (like a 90s era GM). Color keyed exterior plastics, like mirrors and spoilers have shedded their clear coat (like all 4yr old Korean cars). Stereo bad. Rear window on lift gate is stuck up, even after warranty repair. A/C clutch went out 92k mi. Resale value is terrible!

One of the best!

We bought our 2002 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4x4 New and have been all over the US threw a snow storm on I40 from Flagstaff AZ to Texas and never-never slipped a wheel and Fords-Chev-Cad- SUV's tried to follow me and ended up stuck on the side of the road ! Believe me the snow was deep and the interstate was closed! This is by far the best and safest SUV on the road! Thank you TOYOTA from the Amerson family,

I bought the Sequoia used with 22,000 miles. The SUV has been super in every aspect except the front brakes, rotors warped three times, the Toyota dealer replaced at no charge to me for both rotors and pads. It is very comfortable on long trips for front and rear passengers. The average mpg is 16 that I can live with. Hauling my travel trailer it gets 11 mpg, still ok in my book, since the trailer weighs 5,500 lbs fully loaded. I have had no problem with the engine and transmission, both run very smooth.

My Sequoia is wonderful. I purchased it in April 2006 and it had 36,000 miles on it. I have had to pay only for oil changes. I rotate the tires every other oil change. I now have 83k miles and I have purchased a battery. I will purchase tires this winter for the first time. Gas is expensive. When you drive a V8 gas is expensive. You can not purchase a more reliable SUV. You get what you pay for. It rolls on the freeway like ice. It is smooth. If you like heavy vehicles this is the truck for you. Its very classy and stylish. I have five children and we ride very comfortable. So do all of your research when you are getting ready to purchase a SUV. You will be satisfied with a Sequoia.

I've had mine about a year & have zero complaints. I bought it with 100K miles from a dealer who has sold me a number of Toyotas & I would not buy anything else. It is a used vehicle & friends comment that it looks very well kept. It drives great, visibility is great, never had any problems. gas mileage is not so good, but if you want great gas mileage, buy something else. If you want comfort & a reliable family SUV that protects you, you need to drive it!

I have owned my 2002 sequoia now for 4 years and have only replaced tires. It is an amazing vehicle. When my husband and I were looking, a big issue with us is comfort. We are both tall and have small children and didn't want them kicking us every time drove in it. Unfortunately at this time my kids are getting a little big and we are looking to down size. But if you are looking for a reliable roomy SUV you can't go wrong with this sequoia.

Purchase the suv with 69,000 miles. My wife had been on me about one so I got it for her. First the rear window motor went out. The reason I purchased it Edmunds had such good ratings and it's a Toyota. Now at 82,000 miles my transmission went out while my wife were driving it. (@ 82,000 miles) I will never buy another Toyota. Very disappointed.

My Sequoia has been a delight from the very first day. My friends assumed from the look, feel and ride of it, that it was new. I certainly didn't correct them!! On highway trips, it rides like cloud. In town, it handles and responds very well. The gas mileage is the single issue I have with it. I average approximately 16 mpg. Wish it were 21 or more. Love it anyway!

Lift gate window motor went out right after warranty expired, 3 years old, I've replaced all the interior door handles because they broke off ($100 a pop), constant brake problems, $500 avg price to fix every time the rotors have to be machined and brake pads changed, which is about once a year. I've spent about $4000 in repairs due to poor build.

Bought new in 2002 and now have 110K miles on vehicle with little problems. After 2 years, rear window got REAL sluggish, so we left it up for a year afraid it would break. Toyota told us they had replaced a lot of motors. Waited one year, did nothing, works fine now. Too big to really go brush busting but wife likes it. I prefer my 1985 Land Cruiser. Parking brake stinks and truck lurchs forward after applying brake on slight incline. 3 weeks after brake service can drive 55 mph with parking brake on before realizing it's on. Sister bought an 06, no parking brake problem. Mileage improved after 100K. Now we get 16.6 mpg in Georgia. Only get 6 mpg pulling 3500 pound boat though.

I love this vehicle because it gives me a feeling of security, it's powerful, it's roomy (allowing at least eight passengers comfortably and two bikes) and the design is majestic. I drove across country in it and found the gas mileage to be more than reasonable for a vehicle that size. This vehicle is loaded and every conceivable convenience has been considered.

This vehicle is an extremely comfortable SUV. The gas mileage is terrible, but size does matter. I have had issues with the electrical system, and now the air conditioning compressor. I cannot turn of the TRAC control off or on. Occasionally, the high beams are not usable. Now the air compressor just locked up. This vehicle has led a pampered life with all maintenance taken care of by dealerships. The mileage is only 68,000. What gives? This is my first Toyota, and I purchased because of the outstanding reputation for reliability. This has not been my experience with this vehicle. The gas mileage is also terrible. 15.6 MPG.

I bought this used at 85,000 miles, always looked at the Sequoia from afar, never thought I would own one, bought it used at a great price and have been thrilled ever since! Comfy, powerful, stylish, CD speaker system is the bomb and the sunroof is huge, you almost think it's a convertible! Lots of room and I feel really safe in it, the curtain airbags were a plus for me and my kids. The gas mileage stinks, but what do you expect in an 8 cylinder?? It's an awesome truck!

Our Sequoia has over 90k miles, and there have been 2 problems: the oxygen sensor went out ($170), back window motor went out (dealer fixed). Phenomenal build quality, super quiet except some wind noise (to be expected with large suv). High quality leather. Large sunroof.

i bought my seq used it was a 2002 sr5 with all bells! My only concern is the brakes. I have had to replace pads twice in one year and rotors once. I do drive quiet a bit. I bought the car with 23k it has 63K in a little over a year. But the car is a joy to drive, very smooth, like the lexus. Had to replace battery, I left on the lights, tires, and brakes.. The car is defint reliable. I would def by another. But only used. The gas will murder your wallet. At aound 3.00 a gallon, you're looking at 85.00 to fill. Brakes run about 200-400, tires are 500.00. So we are buying a smaller car for commuting purposes. The SUV will be for trips and weekends only.

I was very torn on getting another van or getting an suv. I did know I wanted a Toyota. So I took them both home to test drive and my husband ultimatley made my decision for me. We have a boat and we take it places so I needed something big enough to tow that. I love my Sequoia and I don't see myself getting anything else it is a great comfortable ride and my kids all have there own space. Towing a boat to the Florida Keys was a breeze for the truck also we had no problems what so ever. I love the styling of it. Gas is always a problem nowadays with whatever you drive unless they come out with a hybrid I will drive this till I am old and grey.

Great highway cruiser. Very comfortable. However, not the Toyota quality I expected. Interior trim pieces kept falling off. Had to do a $2200 front brake job (entire front brake system!) due to poor quality in original materials. Toyota knew about this from the early Tundra's, but never fessed up. I've owned several Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans. This SUV was a big disappointment. Did I mention the poor gas mileage and anemic power? HP up for the latter years, but the original engine was smooth, put underpowered for the weight of the vehicle. Shame on you Toyota!

I have enjoyed my big SUV for a little over 3 years. I only have positive things to say about it. My job as a dealership service manager (with Mercedes-Benz) I have the opportunity to drive the ML on a daily basis and see the repair frequency of Mercedes- Benz & other makes and models as the dealership takes trades in all the time. I can tell you that Toyota's quality is 2nd to none! My Toyota SUV is a joy to own and drive, I recommend it to any one in need of a full size SUV.

Purchased in 5/02. Build quality has been superb. In three years here is what has been replaced (except for maintenance items): Oil Pressure Gauge, Security Transmitters, and Brake Rotors--all by Warranty. Front Ball joints replaced under recall. Truck has been very solid. Good travel truck for a family. Interior has a tendancy to scratch and show scuffs. MPG is not as good as I like (~ 15) but considering the size and weight it is inline. Original tires were poor (Dunlop) replaced with Michelin cross terrain and are much improved! Blind spot is quite large and recommend small mirror additions to address. Would purchase again if gas prices had not jumped so much. Great vehicle!

While I love the size and comfort compared to other SUVs, I have had a number of non-drive train problems, none of which the dealership would fix under warranty, despite the truck being less than 3 years old. Antenna no longer retracts, several pieces of interior molding have had to be replaced, including the driver's side door handle, motor on liftgate window burnt up after only a couple of years, and the air conditioner is a piece of junk. Not only does the AC control decide whether you're getting hot or cold air depending on the temperature you choose (and it varies with outside temp), but the strength of the air output changes if you change the temperature, or if you accelerate.

Since my wife and I are both 6'3" and have 3 children we have been thru the ropes with Ford and Chevy both. After owning my Malibu for 4 months I swore I'd never own another Chevy or Ford product. I did get wrangled into test driving a Trailblazer EXT. During the test drive the 4WD went out and the side window got stuck in an open condition. That was the end of that. I did alot of review reading on several vehicles and it took me to Toyota. I went out to the dealer and test drove the Highlander(way too small for 5) then the 4Runner(just a hair to small) then we climbed into the Sequoia. It was a match made in heaven. My dad has a Camry..300,000+.

Toyota doesn't know how to build trucks or take care of customers. 4WD broke first time I used 4WLow in deep snow (in my driveway). Dealer accused me of abuse (had to be because Toyota's don't break...unbelievable arrogance). Got it resolved (had to go to another dealer who took mercy on me) but Toyota help center was no help at all. Took 2 months to resolve and repair. It also eats brakes (we drive VERY conservatively) and the windshield has cracked twice for no apparent reason. Clicking noise of fuel injectors when cold. Overall, a total turkey. If you want to buy a full-sized SUV buy American. Lesson learned.

Very quiet ride and engine; extremely reliable; very spacious, with great usability and versatility on use of the cabin/cargo space; easy to operate; respectable gas mileage, better than peers; for such a powerful V-8, nice look. Do know that this is a large, full-size vehicle, tougher to manuever and drive for those inexperienced.

While the truck has performed well generally and is great in snow and rain, but there have been inumerable other "minor mechancial failures" such as power locks, windows and antena's all needing repairs as well other other issues. The problem...? These items are out of warantee and should not be breaking on a 2.5 yr old truck and have cost over $2,000 to repair. Toyota should come up with fold flat middle and rear seats. While they fold down, they do not fld flat and are cumbersome to remove from the truck and as a result take up considerable storage room when carrying cargo. Also the engine is slightly under powered.

Looked at a few dif big suv,s,like style, toyota qual. tho u can see how the price was trimmed, we have a Rav 4,much is similar in looks and feel, not really what you would expect on a car like this, not flimsy but not substantial. Seems like a good car all in all, however, one thing i was not impressed with were the seats, drivers needs more side support, i felt like i would slide off, also my left leg rubbed against the door panel, it was uncomfortable.

We considered EVERY SUV on the market for 45K or less b4 buying (Tahoe, Envoy, Jeep, Yukon, etc). We took the time to dive/ride in each one b4 deciding. Ultimately Toyota held its value the longest, had the nicest feel (plushy) and reliability, and got us the most bang for our buck. Would recommend to all and would rebuy!

Great Truck. Mileage is not a good as we like (~16 to 17) but as big as the vehicle is, reasonable. Has plenty of power and features. Blind spot is large, suggest adding supplemental mirror to both sides. Interior tends to scratch easily. Leather captain chairs are very comfortable. Handles well with good forward visibility. Ride can be stiff on bumpy roads (again this is a truck)

We were hit by a chevy truck going 40 MPH square on the front passenger door. Our vehicle was totaled. But sitting on the inside you would hardly know it. One window shattered, otherwise, the interior held strong! We were hit so hard, our vehicle was pushed 20 feet sideways, and pushing another car at the same time. We are replacing it, with another Sequoia! Safety first.

So far it is what I expected... A great truck that has performed to my expectations. I only problem that I have had is that the A/C seized and the whole system had to be replaced on Toyota's nickle. It has plenty of room and seats eight folks comfortably. Performance is good for a big vehicle, could use a little more punch but does very well. I got the Toyota for it's reliability and for its longevity... I don't plan on getting one for a while.

would love to recommend the sequoia, but can't. with less than 10,000 miles of easy driving, ours is back in the shop a 3rd time for a broken AC. there is a technical service bulletin on the AC problems, so it is an acknowledged problem. first, the compressor seized causing $1,700 worth of warranty repairs. now, the AC mostly doesn't work. service department doesn't know what's wrong. they seem to be guessing. for $40,000, and being a toyota, this experience has been a true disappointment. the only other person i know with a sequoia had the same problems. what are the chances? well, it tells me that this must be a fairly widespread problem.

I've had this car for a year, and was a replacement for a minivan. Paid $34,500 for the SR-5. So far it has lived up to expectations. Love the fact that the rear seat can actually sit an adult (vs the Tahoe, where your knees are in your face). Gas mileage not to bad, average 16.5 on highway trips. Anti-skid control seems to kick in too easily on snowy days. Towing capacity was not an issue for me, might be for others. All in all very happy and would recommend it to others.

We at all the SportUtes and bought the Sequoia. Recently sold a Chev product & had nothing but troubles with the build quality, ride & mech's. Wanted another but were wary. The Ford products were about the same. We like the features, reputation & build quality. No leather & sunroof. We did get the alloy package & the dual climate control. The dealer dealings were a breeze, no trade-in, had our own loan lined up and "stole" in for about $3,800.00 under list. At the time dealers were getting $1000 + mark up over sticker. We've had it 14 months & even with higher gas prices we still love the vehicle. No problems. It's a Toyota...

I have a hood protector (factory installed)that deflects every piece of debris from the road into my windshield. It looks as if someone took shots at my car...about 20 cracks. The dunlop tires put on the 2002 models were junk that had no treadwear. Replaced them after 22,000 miles. 2001 model had michelin ltx, which are great. Oil gauge went bad, and fuel latch was on service bulletin. Could not put gas in my car, until it was fixed. All else is well.

I used to own a 1998 Lincoln Navigator and drove it the same way I drive my Sequoia and never had any problems with it. In my opinion the Sequioa looks like a 4Runner on steroids! I've had the SUV for almost a year now and I love almost everything about it. The only thing that bothers me is the loud noise when you have the rear windows rolled down. Also more power would be great. Before I bought it I was also looking at the Chevy Tahoe because I have a GM card and get points towards a vehicle but I decided to go with the Sequoia because it is more reliable and its a Toyota. I here people complain that you cant drive over 100 miles per hour, well you shouldnt be driving that fast with such a big vehicle in the first place. Theres never going to be a car that is perfect but this one is close enough.

I just love this SUV. There is no other vehicle like it on the road for ease and fun of driving. It is perfect for the carpool, especially with the add-on DVD/TV Console. After 35000 miles it rides like a dream. We have only had to change the oil!!!! The cargo area is easy to manipulate and my 5 year old son can move the 3rd row seats. After years of Toyota(MR2 and 4-runner) and Jeep(Cherokee Limited) ownership - Toyota Sequoia RULES!

My 2001 has 37000 miles and I'm waiting to buy a new 2003 as soon as they are out. After having my GMC Yukons and Suburbans lose half their value in a year, I'm happy to see the current resale values. My only problems are like many others' -- handling in the wind and the snow, excessive tire wear and the goofy Traction system. I have had no other complaints, I really enjoy driving this SUV.

The best. I should know.

Retired pro cycle racer, driven everything but a Lamburger-Weenie in 800,000 accident-free miles. We've bought 4 more Toyotas since my first went 407,000 miles (my new Chevy was junky), but we are astounded how perfect this one is: Our finest, tightest, best-laid-out car ever. Quieter at 70 than a new Eldo. Just finished a 1,000-miler with 4 aboard. Seats, cupholders, instruments just right, kept us alert for the word and encyclopedia games that helped the miles roll past. Now, 'Burbans and Expos are just wannabes. I believe Toyota engineers are respected and paid attention to --- nowhere have we found slapdash design or build compromises.

Being a previous owner of a Ford Exporer, I was looking for a vehicle which had several features that I felt were missing from the Ford. The Sequoia has them and more! A spacious interior, comfortable and extremly quiet ride, and relability! This vehicle is a pleaure to drive and own. One test drive was all it took to convince me that this is a quality vehicle.

This is a great SUV! I really like this truck, but here are things to keep in mind. The third row is great for hauling around extra people, but when the seats are in use, I can barely fit my baby stroller in the cargo space. This car has a a huge blind spot! The rear 1/3 of the car! As long as you are aware it's fine. The clock is too low! Those are my only complaints! I really like the car!

All I ever heard in the Toyota is higher in Quallity and Resale value then domestics. I like to really drive my SUV as a SUV. Bought this truck just because everyone including Edmund rated it highly. Just driving the Toyota on mostly smooth dirt trails, I have had to have all CV joints re-lubed twice. I have needed to be pulled out of soft sandy soil that my friend with 2wd Tahoe drove straight thru.

Just got back from a camping trip and the 4 wheel drive worked great. Our friends brought up their $40k Suburban and it broke down on the way home. Have had no issues with the vehicle.

Have owned 11 large SUV's over 20 years. Sequoia is good but lacks the capabilities of the competition. Recent Car & Driver test results says Sequoia was only big 'ute to get stuck on their course. Got stuck twice last winter in snow - never been stuck before. All vehicles can have problems but have had to replace AC compressor, brakes, steering parts, fuel system EGR)parts, etc. Frustrated by Toyota's tendency to "wish" problems away, requiring calls to Customer Assurance. Toyota is extremely slow to issue recalls for known problems. You have to research TSB's. I'm considering selling but choices for big 'utes are somewhat limited.

Just recently purchased this Toyota and am very impressed. Almost silent in its operation. Handles bumps and bad roads (common in Texas) with aplomb. You need to read the owner's manual carefully because there are features and limitations on this vehicle that cannot be covered in dealer delivery speech. This car is built in Indiana. How come the other Big Three cannot build a vehicle of this quality? Gas mileage is pretty good for an SUV but you will get more mileage by using a synthetic oil (like Mobil 1) and a K&N air filter. Improves performance, mileage, and won't harm the vehicle in any way to my knowledge.

I bought the Limited 4x4 5/1/02 and have put 4000 miles on it. 2300 miles coming on a trip from Minnesota to Yellowstone in one week. The ride was great as I never got tired or cramped as I have on long trips in other vehicles. I averaged about 17 mpg overall for the trip which included the mountains. Gas mileage has improved as more miles have been put on. I have encountered no problems at all with this vehicle.

After comparing and test driving Sequoia, Tahoe/Yukon, Expedition we decided that the Sequoia was best for us. This vehicle drives like a limosine on the highway and is much quieter than its domestic counterparts. It also has significantly more room behind the 3rd seat which is great for storage/luggage. Great 2nd seat leg room. More expensive that similarly equipped competitor models but I was willing to pay for Toyota reliability/quality. Also resale value is very high. There are many reasons why this vehicle heads up the editors and consumers most wanted lists for SUVs.

I was not disapointed at all it has better performance and gets better mileage than the crusier. I see alot of people complaining about the little things on the vehicle, but let me tell you thats just what they are little things. When focusing on the big picture this is about as good as it gets. We absolutely love this car. It drives great and the seating is wonderfull. We can pack up our kids and friends and be on the move. A couple frustrating things about the vehicle is the long reach from the driver to the console. The CD, radio and A/C buttons seem so faraway. I am 5'5 and have to physically move forward to reach the controls. The other, is how awful the stereo system is. The sound is awfull... do something about this Toyota. We would more than likely buy another Sequoia but those will be the little things we look at. Overall, it is a great car. Love it, Love it, Love it....

Disapointed on some simple features missing I expected to be in this price range of a vehicle. Being my first Toyota I expected some features found in lower costing vehicles. This SUV is totally awesome. Everything about it is brilliant. It's got tonnes of space and very roomy. It could definitely be an alternative to a minivan. I recommend it very much! ...by the way...why the heck would you want GM to build toyota's engine?? American engines are crap and they fall apart unless u don't drive it at all.

This is the second Sequoia for me. I have a 2001 Limited 4Xr and a 2002 Limited 4X4. I bought these trucks for one reason... Toughness!!! I go "mudding" every weekend and those monsters have gotten me out of some pretty touch situation. As you might imagine. I beat the heck out of those trucks. To date, the only problem that I have had is scratched paint!!

The gas milage is terrible for this SUV. I would have reather bought the Ford or Chevy and got the performance and better milage at a much lower cost. The Toyota cost 9K more than I could have bought the Tahoe LT for. I cannot recommend this SUV.

The interior has enough room to be comfortable for those long road trips. Sure blows away the cramped up seating in the durango where you are sitting elbow to elbow. 3 months isn't long enough to give a fair opinion, but so far it's an excellent vehicle to own.

Have only owned it 4 months/4000 miles but I love it. Uses a lot of gas (avg 15.2 mpg mostly city driving). Lots of room inside, comfortable seats. 3rd row easy to remove/install. Rear passenger climate controls are great. Sunroof is huge. Don't care for the default of outside air for a/c rather than recirculate.

We looked at all the BIG SUV's and this won hands down. This has the Land Cruiser running gear, is larger but is thousands less. Great Vehicle, Great buy. Great Dealer The Chevy Tahoe looked good, but we had too many issues with our last GM Truck. We decided to go the Toyota route. The Ford Explorer is just too massive and is not updated

Basically a great vehicle. Faults are poor rearward visability and a hard to read dashboard. With polaroid sunglasses it is unreadable. Why they used dirty white numbers/letters instead of bright white I'll never know. Mileage is good for a vehicle of this size - about 17.5 mpg average including when I tow our 22 ft. Hi-Lo (low profile) trailer.

Bought 2002 Jade Green Ltd. 4x4 two weeks ago. I am reasonably satisfied with the vehicle (since I did a lot of research before hand and there have been few surprises), but I would have to say that the quality of the interior leather, carpeting and plastics have a more "industrial" quality than what I have come to expect from Toyota. (this is my 7th) It is quiet for a vehicle of this size, has very little wind noise at cruising speed, feels stable on the road (except when encountering strong wind) and is very roomy inside.

Tether Strap hooks in 5 seating positions, LATCH car seat equipped and side-impact airbags for front seat passengers. I can't say one negative thing about this SUV. Love the Sequoia. On one trip I put 3500 miles in 6 days with elderly parents. Great ride and comfort, never tiring. Average gas mileage for it's size. Grat comfort, especially for those of us with wide bodies (I'm 6'1 and 250 lbs - not "fat" just plump) Look at resale value vrs same year Eddie B Expedition to see what a great buy this realy is. My dealer was great to dea with.

This is a great truck. I love the ride, the room and the looks and the performance. I checked out the comp. and the Yukon Denali costs more and its interior is too cheap and plastic looking. The Ford's ride was very unappealing. I have found the wind noise from the front window molding to be irritating, I'm told they are working on a fix. The thermometer is not accurate when it gets colder than -22. The dealer doesn't tell you that they have a governor that kicks in at 100mph. We have had ours for about a year now and these are my gripes for now. This may sound negative but its not we love the truck just some bugs need to be addressed.

Our Sequoia is everything we could have wished for. It does excellent in the snowy winters of Michigan and through all the ice and slush. Toyota could have put a bit more power into it but all else surpasses that small issue. The third row seat can even seat 3 adults with comfort. This is by far better than a Suburban or Yukon XL Denali. I love this car and I know it will last me 10 years, thanks Toyota.

After having a Ford Expedition, I would only buy a Toyota. This vehicle vibrates terribly. You will also lose your children if you open one of the rear windows while your driving. They will get sucked out the back and you'll break your ear drums. This is a definite design flaw. Toyota is aware of this and is working on a redesign of the aero dynamics. I have heard that a bug guard and the rear spoiler help but I'm getting rid of mine as soon as I can.

The Toyota is far bigger than any before it, but is by no means better. A goofy and unavoidable traction control system that actually governs the engine, exterior pieces that mysteriously disappear, and other problems plague our Sequoia. The engine and driveline (excluding the traction control) deliver good power and reliability with decent mileage. The interior styling is blah and the newness wears off of this vehicle rapidly.

I lost room going from an Aerostar AWD extended van, but I gained ground clearance and an extra seat. I canoe in Maine and need the ground clearance that the van could not deliver for the logging roads. One problem is that the truck is so high that I have troble loading a canoe on the useless roof rack. I will buy a canoe trailer! 4WD and traction control are OK in snow, but the skid control doesn't do much. This is a HIGH vehicle and the running boards help greatly getting in.

I've got approximately 4000 miles on the truck now. The dealership replaced the water pump under warranty when I took it in for an oil change. The ride is nice but I knew that from test driving other 4x4's before the purchase. I also like the Sequoia's exterior looks and overall build quality. The water pump, well, time will tell me if it lives up to Toyota's typical build quality ......

This full size SUV provides every comfort that includes heated seats, dual climate controls, and even power collapsible side mirrors for those tight spots. I love the way the back 2 rows of seats tumble, collapse and can be removed which has allowed us great options for camping and hauling. The Sequoia is very quick and allows us the power we need to pull a boat. I am very pleased !!

Fun vehicle to drive. It is very well built and plenty of standar features. I felt that the 10 speaker description on the window tag is misleading. They count the front door speakers as two because is has a tow elements (tweeter and wolver - if I am describing it right). But even count this speaker as two each, I still can not find two of the ten speakers. The sound system could be a little better.

I believe this SUV is in a class of its own. I wanted the 6000 GVWR tax benefit for my business but did not want to drive a gas guzzling General Schwartzkov type SUV that would loose $15k off the lot and make me regret ever buying it. This is it! A Land Cruiser but less money. The interior is fantastic; it drives like a dream and in my opinion is luxurious. I traded in a 2002 Explorer with 10k miles and felt a difference of night and day between these vehicles. No regrets here.

This is a great alternative to a Tahoe or Expedition. They handle well for a fullsize truck and cornering is flat with slight understeer when pushed too far. The traction control seems to do more harm than good. No way to turn it off either. Almost got it stuck 3 weeks after purchase going places I previously took my 4x4 pickup. Climbing a muddy hill, engine cuts power when tires slip leaving you with no momentum. Even with street tires, it should do better.

AWESOME

The Sequoia is a much quieter ride. There is not a lot of wind noise, rattles and engine noise. The body roll on the Sequoia is less than either the 99 Suburban or the 97 4Runner we previously owned. This is the closest SUV I've driven that feels like a car. You don't feel that tilt near as much when taking a fast turn. Overall I like this vehicle quite a bit over any other large-extra large SUV.

really impressed

I owned a 4 Runner prior to the Sequoia and my daughter owns a Camry, it is impossible to beat Toyota's quality.

THIS is how to go on an Expedition!

The Tahoe has very comfortable seats, but I couldn't enjoy them over the racket the brand new demo's interior made. I've logged thousands of miles renting Expys, and they just aren't fun to drive. The price difference was worth it, and I haven't had a moment's remorse. Funny, nobody else driving a 2wd in snow has anything but praise for the Seq's ability. One must learn how to drive this new technology, however. Don't expect it to be like anything else.

It drives like a car

We did not have to take long to decide, the look is appealing form the outside, certainly much nicer that others in the same class. The inside is without question the best in class, comfortable and spacious. We then went on a test drive,it drives more like a car that a SUV, the responce from the engine when given a little throttle is exciting, you throw it into a corner and it sits on the road without that feeling of 'we are going to tip over'. You must test drive this exciting vehicle.

GREAT VEHICLE, PLENTY OF POWER, GAS MILEAGE IS A BIT OF A DISAPPOINTMENT, AROUND 15 MPG, LEATHER NOT AS HIGH A QUALITY AS IT SHOULD BE, OVERALL A NICE VEHICLE.

priced better than a Land Cruiser

i love my sequoia. i test drove several other suv's and found the sequoia to be the best ride, best looking and most luxurious with a third seat. i was very suprised initially when i was told i could get this ride under $40K!! i have recommended this truck to others and one has bought so far. go drive by a ford or chevy dealership and see how many exp/tahoe's they have on the lot. toyota can't keep sequoias on their lots. they are the best suv's on the planet!!
