We owned our Santa Fe for 6yrs. Bought in 2010 for $6000. Had 104,000 miles on it. Sold it May 2016 for $4000, and had 140,000 on it. The only things we replaced on it were the brakes, tires, and ignition switch. Loved plowing through the Wisconsin winters. She was getting a little sluggish before we sold it, but was one of the best vehicles we ever owned. Back in 2013 we bought a 2007 Santa Fe and sold it a year later. We thought it would be like our 02 but couldn't hold a candle to it. Recently purchased a 2012 Chevy Captiva. Hope we have the same luck as we did with Sandy.

I love my Hyundai Santa Fe I have had it for about 5 months so far and never have had a problem. I hesitated when buying because I didn't know much about them but I can say I am very glad I choose it. I know all cars have there ups and downs and there are good ones and bad ones. I have to say I got luck I purchased my 2002 with 123,000 miles on it and she has ran perfect for me. One thing I would like to give this car props on is the four wheel drive I go any where in the snow I live in Ohio.

My first car. Wish it had more power and zip. Live the way it handles. Love the way it looks. When it is actually working I love the car but at 100k miles it all went down hill had to replace power steering pump, fuel injectors both front axles and both front abs speed sensors, rest carrier bearing, the transfer case and the transmission. Between the fuel injectors and the transfer case and transmission all going out with in the last year and a half it was a between $6,000 and $7,000 and the ac broke twice. Would not but another one or recommend the first generation Santa Fe to anyone who doesn't have deep pockets to keep it on the road. All that being said I am sad that I have to get rid of

I was thrilled with my Hyundai until the clear coat started peeling off the hatch door and the drivers side mirror as well as rusting on the drivers side mirror. The wiper arms are rusting as well and I have just over 60,000 miles on my car. To me this is lousy workmanship. most of the time my car was parked in a garage at work so was only in the elements for limited amount of time. I have never owned a car in which the clear coat peeled. My daughter who also has a Hyundai is having the same problem. I did some research and found out that even some of the 2012 models had the same problem. This is why I would never buy another Hyundai product.

Just sold my '02 GLS V6 Santa FeAWD a few days ago.(Feb 2012). I was 2nd owner. It was HANDS DOWN the best car I've ever owned, When I sold it it had 246K!! miles on it, and get this - not a SINGLE rattle or loose panel, etc. inside. Completely amazing.Unheard of for me who had always owned Ford's. YES I had to repair the engine, tran. etc along the way...but what a trooper! I hesitated before buying it-semed too utilitarian - grew over the years to totally respect its design integrity and heartiness. Went shopping for another-an '07 90k yesterday to replace it-what a DISAPPOINTMENT, SO cheaply made. Might just have to scout around out there for a low miles'02 again. What happened Hyundai?

I bought my 2002 SantaFe in that year brand new. Its been very reliable and ive babied the car on doing maintenance which i do myself. It routinely gets a combined 21 MPG with 23 on the Highway at 70 mph. It is very peppy and in fact, the front tires will spin from a start if you take off real quick. I upgraded the crummy LongTrail Tires to Michelin LX Tires and went from 225's to 245's -- the extra width makes it handle superbly and they dont rub on anything. The Factory radio / tape/ cd player went out at 75,000 miles so i went with a new Pioneer from BestBuy. Other than that, i had a Temperature Sensor go out around 80,000 miles...and thats been it for failures. Its been good.

When I purchased my 2002 Santa fe in 2006 I thought I had found a great deal. It had only 45k miles on it with one previous owner. The first couple years were great...then the problems began. At 80k my transmission was replaced. At about 100k everything started leaking from engine coolant to power steering fluid. Then to top it all off I was driving on the freeway 2 days after an oil change and my engine started knocking and I as I was trying to get over to pull off the road it began to smoke. When I popped the hood there was a small engine fire. Needless to say I needed a new engine, but opted to get rid of it. I had already spent close to $5,000 in repairs and was done.

I have 191,000 miles on my 2002 Santa Fe. This is by far the best, most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Only complaint is that this vehicle has an issue with every belt. The timing belt had been replaced 2x and I often had to have other belts replaced or tightened. Failure to do so immediately resulted in a loud squeeling every time I started my car. The good thing is, nothing EXPENSIVE ever went. This car is fun to drive, GREAT Gas Mileage, and cheap to maintain. I am on the road a lot, and I love being in this car. It is so comfortable that my MANY long trips per month (ranging from 2 hours one way to 12 hours one way) are always a breeze. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VEHICLE

Bought my 02' used as a third owner and had to do a complete overhaul to front end and engine after oil leak showed rings were bad BUT overall, she has been AMAZING for me and at 165,000 miles I've only had to replace the alternator that I actually broke. I drive her from CA to GA 3 times a year and sometimes further. Gas mileage is good for an SUV. Just needed to fix prior owner(s) misuse of her and now I have no problems whatsoever. I'm getting ready to by a Tiburon because of the great results I've had with my Santa Fe.

But now 3 of them have one also, yes it's an 02 and finally were waiting for the 2011's I'm 100% sure I will buy another, the only problem we had with ours was a tail light going out, it was fixed 4 yrs ago and now it has 80,000 miles and she wants another so spring we will, I will not even look at another brand, a bad taillight in 9 yrs. Why would I, by far the very best I have ever owned, I'm 50 and I look for comfort when I travel with my wife, just got back from a trip to padre island and round trip was 1802 miles long and I was fine the whole trip, I hope this will help

Of all of the vehicles that I have ever owned and/or driven I would choose my Santa Fe. I bought it new in 2002 and it was totaled in an accident with my 20 yr old driving in May 2010. There were 5 people in the car when the accident happened and other than bruises (seat belt & my daughter's knee hit the dash) they were all fine. I always felt very safe driving/letting my daughter drive it. The car was reliable, fun, comfortable and could carry almost anything that I could possibly bring home including some huge rocks that I absolutely had to have. I was absolutely devastated when they told me that it was totaled! I would have driven this car for a long time yet. Boohoo, I miss my Santa Fe!

my hyundai santa fe stopped running in 2006 and i had to have almost three thousand dollars worth of work done on it in which the hyundai dealer ship did not honner the waranty. 2009 it stop running again, this time it cost five hundred dollars. now 2010 its not running again. same thing wrong with it. i am a older lady that has always taken care of my cars and just wanted something i did NOT have to keep putting money into, and also i can't afford to get it fixed so here i am without a car to drive.the body and the interior look like new.this has not been a dependable car and i would never buy another one again and would never sell the idea to anyone else. VERY UNHAPPY!!!

The interior comfort and the ride is very good for a low priced mid-size Crossover/SUV. Ample power. Good traction. Decent cargo space, although the rear seat fold-down configuration is burdensome compared to other makes. Reliability is fair. I had to replace parts on this car that I never had to replace on any of my Nissan vehicles (I've had 9 of them!). And my dealer's service is mediocre compared to Nissan. There really is a difference in quality, and I think Nissan is worth the extra money. Considering a Rogue, Murano, or Mazda CX7 when I replace this Santa Fe.

Purchased new in Sept. of '01 and overall have been very satisfied. We purchased the extended warranty for a very affordable price and has paid off for us. The 2.7 V6 has plenty of power for a vehicle as heavy as it is and fuel mileage is reasonable at 20 mpg. avg. We have had a few mechanical issues covered mostly under warranty. Both front axles cracked and were replaced, a strange squealing noise from the rear that the dealership fixed but seems to reappear from time to time, the rear hatch door handle release latch sticks in and the door will not latch shut if you don't pull it out by hand. Radio goes on and off itself. This SUV is GREAT in snow with full time 4wd. We're keeping it

I am only 16 years old and this was my first car and I bought a 2002 Hyundai sante fe and I bought it used at 60,000 miles and for about 6,200. I was hoping to get an suv because I have to drive about 2 hours each weekend during the winter through the snow and this car holds up really well, I don't have the all wheel drive version but even just the 2 wheel drive does really well. Its great in snow and rain. Another reason I got this car is because for an suv it has pretty good gas mileage. Its a good car pretty cheap and I love I highly recommend it. The only thing I could complain about is how when I go over 70 the wheel shakes but that has happened since I had the car. But great car!

The assumption that a car must be good based on a 100,000 mile warranty is faulty; especially when it does not transfer to a new owner. I purchased this vehicle from a dealer, used, and then was told it needed $2,000.00 worth of required maintenance to keep from voiding the warranty. After that I had constant problems with the brakes, and transmission. Coming back from Florida one time, the car began to buck and jerk for more than 400 miles. We took it to a couple of places and were told that it was a transmission sensor. After paying many hundreds of dollars for repairs, we still are having transmission type issues, along with a brake fluid leak, and other continued brake issues.

I commute over a mountain and have had to successfully navigate through black ice, snow, steep terrain, suicidal deer, and drunken drivers. My Santa Fe just hit 100,000 miles and I have had ZERO problems. My factory tires lasted 60,000 miles (my friend who drives a European car over the same roads had to get new tires at 30,000 miles). My car has started, dependably, each and every time. It has the power to tackle steep roads (and with the Shiftronic Transmission) it is hell-a-fun to drive. I once raced another friend (who drove a Miata) over the mountain, and my Santa Fe handled the curves better than her little car. Great Car!!! Comfy cloth seats!! I'm so glad I own it.

Purchased used @ 96k. Towing capacity is awful. Can pull a 13ft Boler travel trailer. Had continuous problem with rear brakes overheating. New calipers fixed it. Transmission cooler and power steering lines both rusted through @ 220k. Replaced tires 190k, Tie rods 215k, timing belt 190k, alternator 150k, crank sensor 120k. Malfunctions of rear wiper, drivers seat belt latch, passenger power lock, screws in driver window shook lose and window fell out. Currently it needs new shocks, and the diff. seal leaks. Other than that it still has lots of life, looks great and has 251,000k on it. I'd have to say after 250k that's not to bad. However, I'd like my old Safari van back. Less $ loss.

I have 165000 miles and love it as the day I bought it! Changed the timing belt every 60000 miles and all I've changed is the alternator at 130000. Regular oil changes, tires wear well (yeah! Goodrich Long Trails). Goes through 2 ft snow without difficulty handles great with shiftronic! The price is now too high and auto has changed so can't afford another! Sob! It's still going strong so not to worry yet. Great car! Well built,I feel very safe driving it in any weather.

This vehicle drives well. It accelerates well from a stop and has a fair amount of power in its engine. Fuel economy is about 20 MPG in the city and 27 on the highway. The ride is comfortable and reasonably smooth. However, maintenance is difficult for this vehicle. You must remove an intake manifold from the engine in order to change all spark plugs. The front suspension is set up so the ball joints and control arms are held in place against the weight of the car, so that it will collapse if one breaks, we recently found out the hard way. It will cost about $800 to fix this. Reliability and maintenance are sometimes issues for this vehicle.

I love my Santa Fe, but it has had a few problems I have had to replace the battery on it 4 times the brakes 2 times the timing chain, and pvc valves and 3 gas caps, and tires 2 times. I'm going to have to have it fixed again as the check engine light is back on and wont go off. Safety though in this car is wonderful I have been in 2 big accidents in it and no one in my car was hurt.

The second day I had it I took it on a long trip to Florida and the AC froze up after 2 hours. I got no support from the dealer of course. I've replaced compressor, checked for leaks, replaced sensors...nothing works, can't take it on trips longer than 2 hours when I need AC. Also have had to replace O2 sensor 3 times. Was in shop for almost 3 months straight when I first bought it. Warranty is not transferable if bought used. Would never buy one ever again.

Hyundai is not what they used to be. They are reliable! My first was a 1995 Accent; my husband drove the car until June, 2008. When Big Red finished, she had 159,000 miles! That type of reliable made me a loyal Hyundai customer! I bought my Santa Fe in 2002. I call her Lucille, and she still looks as good when I drove her off the lot! I wouldn't trade my Hyundai in for anything else! We just bought a 2008 Sonata!

I purchased a Hyundai because of the warranty. However, everything major that could go wrong with the car did (transmission, power steering, axle) and continued after the bumper to bumper warranty expired. Most of the Hyundai dealers closed, so you have to drive 15 miles to service a vehicle under warranty. Not a good sign. Also, the dealer I serviced it at, L.A. City Hyundai, would not cooperate with the manufacturer when warranty issues arose. I would never buy a Hyundai, regardless of the price or how long the warranty is. The aggravation of breaking down and having to pay for a rental car and waiting days for a part is not worth any warranty. I need a car that is reliable.

I still love my Santa Fe after owning it for 5 yrs. It is just now starting to get little things wrong with it after 67,000 miles on it such as the light on the radio doesn't work, just replaced a brake switch, plugs and small things like that. The only major problem I've had is the air conditioner went out, thru trial and error with the dealership, they finally had to call the company, to find out it was the computer. They replaced it free of charge under the warranty with no problems. I've never had a car to compare with this one. Don't like the style of the new ones, but would love to have a new one just like I have now.

I own the 2002 LX AWD my daughter bought it and put the first 30K on it and we took over for the last 60K. It was the best SUV in it's class in 02 and we haven't been disappointed yet. It gets 26 to 28 mpg on long trips, I don't keep track in town. It handles great in snow and on icy roads, AWD is automatic with nothing to worry about. Our only repair was a cracked A/C line otherwise trouble free except for normal maint. Soon we will get an 07 or 08 RAV4 or Santa Fe, both the top performers in our test drives. The 07's are far nicer SUV's and that is what you would expect with 5 more years of expierence but the 02 is still a well built classy SUV.

I have a 2002 Santa Fe GlS with less than 30,000 miles and had to get 3 brake jobs and 4 new rotors for the SUV. Hyundai says it is the way I drive but my Toyota Highlander is driven more, gets better gas milage and pick up and has no issue with it's brakes. Each change is $700 to $1200 dollars. Add that to the price of the car every 9,000 miles and see if you are happy. My engine is now sounding as if the lifters are going which they can not hear untill the warranty is over. My radio display is gone, Just missed warranty! Nothing was covered by the "warranty" which they tell you to read the fine print! GOODBY HYUNDAI AND WELCOME BACK TOYOTA!!!!!! AT LEAST THEY HAVE PROVEN QUALITY.

Our Hyundai Santa Fe has been a remarkable vehicle. We now have 55k on it with the original tires having very much tread left. The only warranty problem was caused by a mechanic not putting an electrical plug back in properly. We've had no problems at all and we don't buy another car as my wife doesn't want to sell this one. Might give it to our granddaughter next year.

I have enjoyed every one of the 127000 miles I have driven in my Santa Fe. It is spacious and comfortable. The car has worn extremely well. The only problems I have encountered are: watch the alignment - especially the rear wheels. Heavy loads may cause them to go out and you can ruin your tires. The cruise control works great, but when you go up a hill at high speeds, it may kick out. This is where the shiftronic transmission comes in handy! Only one major repair - (power steering hose blew). Still getting close to 27mpg on the highway and 19 in the city. We plan on keeping this car until it dies .

I have 89,000 miles on it after 4 years and have not had any major problems. The car runs smooth. No rattles (surprising for the price range). I had one recurring problem with the air conditioner. Thought it might be a factory problem but think it could have been a dealership problem instead. It kept freezing up. Took them forever to fix that. Then kept getting leaks. I kept telling them but, what do I know, I'm a girl! I think the freezing of lines caused them to dry-rot, causing leaks. They finally fixed it!

I love this vehicle. It's dependable, has great seating space and carrying space. We travel back and forth to our daughter's home 2 states away often. Our city miles are about 2/3 of our annual mileage. The car is dependable. We never worry about it. Our dealership is very good about service. Since we bought our Sante Fe, several of our family members and friends have purchased one also. We would recommend one to anybody.

This has been a very satisfactory car for me. The features are excellent for the price. It is a bit underpowered for the weight of the vehicle, but Hyundai has corrected that in newer models. The only failure in 5 years has been the interior clock for which a replacement doesn't seem to be available. I am considering purchasing another Santa Fe when I replace my present car.

I purchased this vehicle brand new, and from the day I picked it up to this day, it has served me well. I recently had a 60,000 mile check-up, and although it was expensive, I had great feedback from the mechanic who did the work. I have never broken down anywhere, nor have I ever been afraid to take my car on trips. I feel safe in my car, especially being above most other vehicles. I recently replaced my brakes and tires after 60000 miles. Can you imagine that? Brakes that stop and tires that keep on running! When the day comes to retire this wonderful car, you can bet that I will turn right around and replace it with another Santa Fe. I love my Santa Fe! Donna in Sacramento

Our Santa Fe is, without doubt, the best vehicle we have ever owned. Until recently, when a dragging brake manifested itself, there was not so much as a rattle in the car. The Santa Fe's handling is outstanding though the car is a bit underpowered. Service has been beyond excellent at Bellingham Hyundai. The longer we have the car, the more we like it. Fit and finish is superb. About the only improvement which Hyundai could make would be to increase the gas mileage.

I will be trading in my 02 Santa fe to purchase a 06 Honda Element. This car has been so great I actually feel bad about trading it in. I had planned on driving it into the ground but decided to trade it in before it lost all value. Had a few bumps in begining with dealership- they never lubed on front wheel/brake and it wore out instantly. Dealer always fought over what was covered under warranty. After the first year things were great. So much room my friends were envious. At least they would have been if it didn't say HYUNDAI on the back. Can't shake that 'cheap' stigma even though its a 22k car. Not sure I would ever buy another.

I've had this car for less than 4 years and I've had the following problems : 1) Cruise control unit replaced. 2) Sunroof leaked 3 times. 3) Power steering pump replaced 4) Fuel sending unit replaced. 5) radio replaced. 6) Rear sway bar bushings replaced. 7) ABS pump replaced 8) Leaking transaxle This piece of junk has lousy resale value, has been in the shop more than its been on the road and the cost of preventative maintance is unbelievable. $500 for spark plugs ???? I have spent a fortune taking care of this car and it is the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned.

I bought the car brand new which was a big mistake but oh well, live and learn. Our Sante Fe currently has 85K miles and is a strong and comfortable runner. It drives nice and has a solid feel to the car, Hyundai has definitely improved the quality of their vehicles since they were introduced to the U.S. I was very sceptical about buying one except for the excellent reviews from the car mags. Anyway, it didn't take but about 20k miles before we had a squeaky belt problem which the dealer fixed but it has happened time and time again. Also at the 84K mile mark the transfer case started to leak oil, luckily it was under the warranty and they fixed it no questions asked. I'm selling it now!

Until recently I loved the Santa Fe, great gas mileage, great looking, good performance... until last year... things started failing, the axles broke... yes broke, within the axle boot, something let go, vehicle wouldn't move. 1 month later, the wheel bearing went, most recently the engine failed... everything within the engine, there wasn't much left of the engine, the service guy said it "grenaded". This left us stranded in the middle of nowhere without a warning. No strange noises, no tell tale warning signs of impending failure... nothing. Shut it off normally then went out to start it and nothing... this thing was seized up, the engine would not turn at all... Now it sits in the shop..

Dollar per mile, this is the best car I have ever owned. With over 85,000 on it already, it's just breaking in. I don't think this vehicle will ever die. VERY upstanding company to deal with. Due to a misrepresentation in MPG, I got a bump on the warranty to 120,000 and $275 in dealer cash from a class action law suit! Try to get that from any other car company! If you're not into status symbols, keeping up with the Jone's, or horsepower, then you'll be among the intelligent, frugal, money conscience crowd. As long as Hyundai keeps up the quality and warranty levels, I will never buy anything else.

Engine light kept coming on. Returned to dealer 6 times. Dealer kept saying they found the problem. Within two weeks engine light came on again. Once would not start at all. Then the oil light started to come on and finally it started to heat up. All this with 22000 miles. Finally the dealer admitted they could not repair the car and they had problems with the four - cylindar engine.

I'm still happy with my Santa Fe. After 45k miles all I've done is change the brakes and have it aligned. My only complaints are: it could use a little more pep when pulling out onto the freeway, and it could use a little more legroom. But neither have been a problem so far. If the next 45k miles are as good as the first, i will likely buy again.

Our other car is a 2001 Hyundai xg300, we have had very good luck with it. The dealers don't always want to honor the warranty but a call to Hyundai usually soles any problem. Would reccomend this vehicle over a Toyota or Honda they are overrated and overpriced!

We had no trouble getting to/from work this winter in 1+ foot of snow - no need for chains at all. Unique styling makes it stand out from the competition. Lots of creature comforts standard - can't believe we went this long without keyless entry - now can't see having another vehicle without it. Great handling, comfortable driving and riding.

5/60,000 LIMITED warranty is much more limited than indicated in Owner's Handbook. Watch out for items not listed in WHAT'S NOT COVERED section. Very vague, states what most owners already know, they don't cover the basic normal replacement parts, brake pads, bulbs, fuses etc. What they don't tell you about is what is usually covered by other manufactures under a true BUMPER TO BUMBER format. Had Chevy bumper to bumper and it covered everything for advertised time/mileage. Also considered noisy and heavy engine vibration when put into gear "normal" engine performance.

I wish I had another one!

We went with a friend to the dealership not expecting for us to buy a new car. We were so impressed with the Santa Fe that we ended up buying one to. We got it in blue and our friends got it in white. Unfourtuntly, when the car was 2 mths old my wife got rear ended boy this car doesn't only ride great it also takes a hit well. She was hit real hard the other car had major damage and ours just minor. We have 25,000 mile on it now and it still runs like when we took it out of show room. We havent even brought it back for service all i do is change the oil on a regular basis.

I had a Toyota Van before I got my Hyundai, I miss the room in the van, but once I got use to driving my Santa Fe, I found out, I had lots of room once the back seats are down. I like the 16 inch tires, makes a big difference when traveling. The one problem that I have is the gas miliage, its not quite the same as with the van, I get about 15 city and sometimes 23 on the open road.

Great car, usually we buy toyota or volvo, but took a chance with hyundai. I've been very pleased with the car, rides great, sits comfortable, but upholstery lacks class. Had a few problems with passanger seat clicking and timing belt clicking, but dealership fixed. Did great this winter in the snowstorm. Car came with many standard features. Acceleration is excellent from 0-40, but 40-70 slows down quite a bit. Expected better gas mileage, but I only get around 18 mpg in town and 21-22 mpg on the highway.

Had the vehicle since Nov '01 ('02 model). Possible transmission issues from the start. Had a transmission overheat (or something) in March '02. That may have started the ball rolling to a complete replacement in July of '03 (just after rolling 50K-per the dealership Svc Manager). Have trans oil checked/changed regularly to keep an eye open for any problems. Will come back and keep you posted. Otherwise, I am satisfied with the purchase, just may wind up being gun shy for a little while on the transmission problem.

We love our Santa Fe. We owned for a year and are very happy about it. It's roomy, it's stylish, it's very cozy with all those pockets, cupholders and such. It works out nicely if you have a kid or two. They love it because they can actually see what's going on around. Control panel is convenient as well as the Shiftronic thing. Brakes are excellent, it handles pretty nicely.

I love my car! For a great value, I got tons of stuff! People walk up to me in parking lots, and ask about it! Unfortunately, the customer service I've encountered has bean really, really, REALLY bad! They've made it clear early on in my ownership, that if something does go wrong, they will not honor the warranty, or make any attempts to help the customer. I had a small concern, that I brought to their attention, and they just tried to sell me another car (requiring several thousand in cash), rather than fix the problem. I've been trying to get the problem corrected since November of 2001, with no luck (it's now April of 2003).

Solid feel, but doesn't ride like a truck. Even with the driver's seat all the way back I have more back seat legroom than my neighbor's Jeep Grand Cherokee. Get the 4-cyl, 2-wheel drive. 25 mpg avg. If you don't really need 4-wheel drive, don't get it; it will bog you down, even with the 6-cyl. The 6-cyl is not worth losing 5+mpg for the extra (and not really needed) hp. Handling is nimble, stable, and fun. Granted, the 4-cyl won't be the quickest off the line, but it will be faster than the six with 4wd.

I owned a 2002 Santa Fe LX for 9 months. After turning 10,000 miles, the engine started to sound like a diesel engine at idle. The service department and regional representative said it was normal engine noise. It was either the lifters or rods.....It also has an under-powered alternator; the lights fade after a stop, and the transmission indicator blinks with the turn signals. That was normal, also. I was afraid of engine durability. The engine is very unresponsive.

I saw a Santa Fe in a parking lot and loved the way it looked. After researching safety issues, warranty, price, etc., I took a test drive and decided to buy. I have been completely pleased with the whole experience. Dealer was great. Vehicle is the perfect size, big enough to feel secure, but still easy to handle and park. Lots of interior room, cool cockpit type feel. It's absolutely great to drive in the snow, plows through anything, doesn't slip or slide at all. Fun to drive, and all the standard options are great.

Bought this car for my oldest sun to replace a 1999 Ford Escort. Wanted him to have something roomier and 'more substantial' to take to college. As a freshman he couldn't bring it to school yet so we've been driving it. Everyone fights to drive this vehicle, even my wife who has a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country LXi. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone! I'm thinking of buying a 2003 LX to replace my 1998 Volvo S70 T5.

I bought the SUV in July after a month of researching the best suv for my money. I tested quite a few but my sights were always going back to the Santa Fe. The research was impressive but nothing like actually siting in one and going out for a drive. The handling, smoothness, features, crash worthyness and looks combined with one huge warranty made my decision a no brainer. Its quite amazing how much one can fill up the cargo area with. I'm still amazed of how wonderful this vehicle is. With the added feature of the shiftronic makes driving fun. Took it on a long trip and it performed like a gem, impressive mileage. Truly an outstanding SUV.

OVERALL A GREAT VEHICLE! FUN TO DRIVE, HANDLES WELL. LEATHER SEATS ARE VERY COMFY. SEAT HEATER IS A PLUS. I PUT 4 STUDDED TIRES ON MINE AND IT CAN GO ANYWHERE MY OLD MONTERO WOULD. THE TRACTION CONTROL IS ONE OF THE BEST FEATURES. IT COMPARES WITH THE AUDI. THE ONLY COMPAINTS I HAVE IS THE GAS MILEAGE IS DISAPPOINTING, THE CUP HOLDERS ARE NOT WELL POSITIONED, AND THE SPEAKERS BUZZ AT HIGHER VOLUME. I HAVE 30,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WITH OUT A PROBLEM. ACCELERATION IS GOOD OFF THE LINE BUT LAGS A LITTLE AROUND 35 MPH,THEN TAKES OFF AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS LITTLE ROUGH AT TIMES. OVERALL I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE VEHICLE.

This car rides and handles far better than Ford Explorers I have ridden in for the 3000 miles we have driven it. We took it to the mountains of NC for a real trial and it climbed even the steepest hills with little effort and maintained 60 mph in cruise, downshifting as needed. Got 25mpg going up and nearly 30 coming back. The horsepower is adequate, not exceeding 4000 rpm on the steepest incline.

I've drven my SF GLS for 4k miles and I have no problems at all. Mileage is reaching what Hyundai has put out, and I'm happy with the way it's performing, especially since Pittsburgh is a very hilly area. I'm happy I got the FWD instead of the AWD, since the engine really needs more HP. I respect Hyundai for coming out with HP issue and offering the additional warranties. Just shows you what kind of a company they are - respects their customers very much.

Wife really wanted the Lexus RX300 but the price was heart-stopping. We each test drove the Sante Fe at 2 different dealerships and couldn't believe value of this SUV. Toured the entire Dallas Auto Show and NOTHING touched it. After 6 months we have 10K miles and a trip to Colorado with our new Sante Fe and zero problems. Very fun to drive, great ride, lots of cargo room (more than our old Windstar van with a family of 4 loaded in), loads of standard. features. Second gear is geared a little low but the pickup overall is just fine, city or highway. From a die- hard Toyota and GM fan, this is one great car. Plus the warranty if you're still not convinced!

Very well engineered--better than my Jimmy. Test drove a Toyota Highlander, too. Highlander had more power, space, and a luxury ride. Santa Fe had better steering, breaking, styling, and PRICE, and a solid, European sporty feel for the road. It's a perfect car for my wife. Would be for me if I weren't 6'2", 210 lbs. First it was not the engine I was told I had, it has a 173 hp. The lights dim when I turn the AC on. Whe making a turn the automatic transmission does not shift down to the next lower and when I press the gas it drives really slow until I make up the speed to shift to a higher gear. Sometimes it just jumps into passing gear and you would almost run into the car in front of you. If anyone is having these problems let me know because Hyundai said the auto is ok.

Our Santa Fe was the first Hyundai we ever purchased. I love cars and know a lot about the different car companies. Never have I been so satisfied with a car!!! It has been over a year since we bought our Santa Fe and we are still absolutely in love. I have never witnessed a car get so many compliments. And it only cost $21,000! It is more beautiful and eye- catching than other more bank-breaking SUVs and of course it is the most affordable. Three people actually bought a Santa Fe after seeing ours. We are purchasing another Hyundai this year, a Tiburon for myself. I know I can't go wrong with Hyundai! We love you Hyundai!

Being in the market for an SUV for a long time, I looked around and test drove quite a bit. For the money and standard features the Santa Fe is unbeatable. Better comfort and roominess than it's competitors and I think a much better looking vehicle inside and out. Unless you are willing to spend another 10 to 15 thousand dollars, this is the truck for you. As a long-time Honda driver, I've found a new favorite brand. Don't let anyone else judge the Santa Fe’s style for you - decide that for yourself You can't beat the price/warranty. After 4 months I have zero complaints. It is tightly put together and quiet even at highway speeds. The trim is modest, practical, and, more for your money than you'd expect. It’s obvious the Santa Fe isn't exactly overpowered. Test drive it against other vehicles with other adults onboard and decide if you can live with the pick up,Price, style, quality, warranty, and crash test ratings more than make up for power.

Very pleased with both the LX AWD and the dealer to date. I have 10,000 miles logged in 4 months. Fuel comsumption as advertised, about 20-21 MPG mixed driving. Had minor problem with dealer installed trailer wiring that was corrected. It's tough to pass on the warranty that is now been extended to 120,000 miles on the power train on some vehicles. So far, nor complaints.

I have had the Santa Fe for 7 months now with about 13K on it. Just an excellent SUV. Ride is great - room for 4 big guys and golf bags. I folded the seats and put 30 bags of bark mulch in it. The ride did not suffer at all. The radio/cd/tape player is very good - I changed the speakers and that is all you needto do for great sound. It is quiet and draws a lot of complements at the mall parking lots. Finish is very good - heater is excellent, auto temp control works very good - many 90+ degree days this summer. heated seats, and mirrors. Just an overall great SUV - oh! the AWD through 18 inchs of snow - no problem at all.

What's all this talk about not enough power?? Compared to most of the rest of the world we Americans are sooo spoiled. In most other places this vehicle would be considered very peppy. It is certainly adequate for me. Only complaint is not enough room for long legged drivers. Live long and prosper!

I have had my Santa Fe for 3 weeks and am still in love with her. It has easy access to air conditioning and radio controls and the ability to shift manually. The Santa Fe has beautiful lines and styling and has a very smooth ride. I tried the Honda CRV and the Toyato Rav and they didn't hold a candle to the Santa Fe in terms of looks, standard features, roominess and price. The 5 year/60,000 mile warrenty was a great added feature. Beats them all.

good performance so far. have driven it around 2000 miles since getting it mid- august. manu-matic adds nice touch. love the fact that it has everything i need already, and the warranty makes me worry-free for the next 118,000 miles. glad that hyundai was honest enough to tell us owners about the lower hp rating, plus the additional warranty they provided. they've earned my respect.

I've only owned Honda cars in the past, but I decided to take a chance on the "new and improved" Hydundai back by the great warrantly. I'm glad I did. This is a great car, especially for the price. Lots of room for the family, lots of features. I had to take it back to have some chipped paint fixed and Hyundai fixed it right away for free. If the car continues to run well and the warranty is as good as it sounds, I may be a convert from Honda to Hyundai!

Wonderful vehicle! We are enjoying it very much. Lots of muffler clearance on our country lane way. Warranty is excellent. Lots of zip; handles well and is very comfortable and roomy compared with the others we looked at. We spent a few months on research and reviews and were not mislead. The V6 has more power than we need perhaps, as the speedometer is continually sneaking up past the speed limits! A flat surface on the dash board would be helpful, or cup holder in the glove box perhaps? There isn't a spot to set a fast food tray down so you can distribute the burgers etc. to the family.

Reviewed and researched for two months all SUVs in this bracket but nothing came close. Escape/Tribute did not have good reliability reviews, Highlander's too expensive, CR-V is small. Couldn't find anything wrong with the Santa Fe except for the engine needing more horses. Took 4wd GLS for a test drive. Was very good but I went for 2wd for more power for the engine, but got it along with the abs/traction control. I think I made a very good and wise choice. Right now, I just have one complaint - I'm not getting the mileage ratings - although the dealer said that we'll reach the mileage ratings after break-in/3k miles.

After test drive I came away convinced that the Hyundai Santa Fe was a runaway winner; I have not regrets about my choice. Great vehicle, and a great value for the money.

Love our new Santa Fe! Hyundai has turned it around! Great SUV. Smoothest ride in class (we drove them all)! Roomy interior. Loaded. Powerful engine, w/ sporty auto-stick. Great service during sale! Plus, it was THOUSANDS less than its closest competitors! Came with a standard 5-year/50k bumper-to-bumber warranty, plus the touted 10-year, 100k powertrain warranty. Headlamp goes out? They fix it! Same w/ the battery! Plus, amazing roadside assistance - 5 yrs, unlimited miles, & average response time = 12 minutes! Added peace of mind for the car my wife and child will drive most often. Highly recommend this over anything in or even above its class!

I just bought my Santa Fe with the idea of going cross country with it. I drove the Santa Fe 3100 mile through the heat, rain, mountains and sitting in traffic. I have heard alot of people complain about the horse power. The Santa Fe performed well in passing and merging and when I needed her to get up a hill she took it with out a problem. Who needs a racing SUV anyway? Overall I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone whether you are cost conscience or not. We now have 5,200 miles and she still runs like a dream. I hope she stays that way but if she doesn't there is the warranty.

I was one of the first owners of this vehicle in northern California. The car has been a pleasure to drive, very reliable and quite spunky in terms of acceleration. I looked extensively at the Tribute, RAV4 and Escape before deciding on the Santa Fe. I must say I feel I made the right decision. The warranty gave me much comfort regarding the unknowns of this vehicle. I have been so impressed with Hyundai that I puchased an Elantra for my wife when she needed a new car.

We love this thing! Through our first 1.5 years owning this car, it appears that Hyundai has nothing to lose by offering a 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranty, because we have not had to utilize it at all. The car is very roomy, comfortable, and fun to drive. That stuff about not being a great off- road vehicle is a bunch of boloney for most people. The 4WD handles superbly in the snow, which is the most important thing for me. Our other car is a Mercury Sable, and we have found that the quality of the Hyundai is head- and-shoulders above the Sable. There is no doubt in my mind that our next car will be a Hyundai.

We thought the RAV4 was too expensive for what you got. Base price was OK, but very limited standard equipment. Everything was an option and before you knew it you were in the $23-25,000 range totally outfitted. We looked at the total market small SUVs (KIA, Ford Escort, Jeep Liberty, Chevy Tracker, Nissan CRV, Mazda Tribute, etc.) and the only runner-up to the Sante Fe we found was the Mazda Tribute. I am glad we did an extensive comparision because price-wise the Sante Fe offers more options for less money.

The meaning of the Santa Fe being a TRUE SLEEPER is the fact that if more people spent the time to test drive and price compare a Mini SUV, they would realize that this vehicle is exactly what they need. I was always a Chevy Man, until I test drove a Santa Fe. I was more impressed with the quality and design that Hyundai put into this vehicle than that of others that were classified in it's range. Hyundai has come a long way in quality and it backs itself up with a great warranty. This Mini SUV is by far the sharpest, smooth riding, and roomiest vehicle in it's category. Once people catch on, it's demand in the market place will soar.

I looked at sedans, vans, compacts and SUV's for over 4 months while driving my miserable 1994 Ford Taurus with a rattling exhaust. I did not want to settle for just any new car. I wanted a 5 passenger, good in the snow, sharp and affordable vehicle. The Santa Fe had everything I was looking for, and some pleasant surprises. The electronics (lights, controls, when on and when off) compare and almost match the $65k+ Lexus SUV. EVERYONE I talk to about my car tells me how sharp it looks and what a surprise it is to see it in person. Saw dozens in Naples Florida area.

It's a Hyundai- what was I thinking. guess we wwere influenced to much by the exterior design- The car looks really cool. However only after a short time we had the car thing are falling apart. The screw to the oiltank had a hairline crack. The motor needed readjustment. The engine noise is now transmitted to the interior and the plastic parts inside are vibrating. not much but I guess it will get worse. The car seems to accelerate pretty slowly- We ignored that when we bought the car. The actual economy is 24. (Much higher). We are really dis-illusioned

Although it is only 4 days old (I'll write another review in a few months), it appears that this SUV is THE one! Forget the price (even though a huge benefit) since you have to live in the SUV. The overall drive and look of this SUV is awesome.

I have had my Santa Fe for a year.I love it. It is a great size for a small person that wants a vehicle with substance. I especially like the lumbar support on the driver's side. It is great when on those long trips. It gets great gas mileage and is very roomy. I have even used it to haul garden supplies around. I already have the next color picked out on my next Santa Fe.

I love it but. . .

My Santa Fe is the best purchase ever. Too bad I have already had to use the warranty for my windshield being cracked from the heat, some loud unexplained ticking that they fixed. Now there is some sort of belt or something that is squeaking that Santa Fe is going to go in for next. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love it to death.

I have over 10,000 miles on it with 3 long trips. If someone is interested in a small SUV than I would recommend the Sante Fe.

For the past 30 days, our crystal blue Santa Fe has been proving to us that we made an excellent purchase. It's not just the price, warranty, V6-power, ride, comforts, and solid construction. It's the whole package. Its appearance seems to match well with its qualities. I also love driving this vehicle. It does not matter what others think about the car maker as long as I love driving it. A serious vehicle worth your money. At least a test drive.

All I wanted was a utility vehicle to carry the things you usually can't fit into a sedan's trunk, like furniture, large boxes, garden equipment, etc. I got a lot more. This little SUV has plenty of room for people and cargo. It has a good looking, comfortable interior with all the necessary bells and whistles. It handles and rides like a sedan. I'm a 225 lb six-footer, and I've got plenty of room. Even with my driver's seat in a comfortable position, an adult can sit behind me with ample legroom. The vehicle was built very well, with absolutely no defects.

Believe it or not, this is my 4th Hyundai. I never thought I would have bought the second after buying my first at 16 years old. But I always came back. The warranty can't be beat, and the vehicles have gotten better looking with each model year change. People still say "you're getting a Hyundai?" with an all too familiar tone, but that will change when they see the Santa Fe up close. Even my wife was a skeptic, but was pleasantly surprised when I pulled into the driveway. If Hyundai keeps improving the looks, styles and amenities of its' vehicles, this will not be my last.

Why is this SUV such a secret? I researched SUV's in this category for 2 months and although I have had my Santa Fe for just a week, I couldn't be more thrilled with every aspect. What a night and day difference between my trade in (Explorer). The dealer was awesome, significantly beating all other quotes. My Sante Fe is second generation 2002 so the clock is on the dash and the back seats folds with one hand (two complaints I read about). I'm glad I bought mine before the secret gets out; this SUV is loaded with value.

I would normally say that the Santa Fe is a great SUV for the money, but that's not true. It's a great SUV. Period. That it's inexpensive is a bonus! While some may complain of it's "unimpressive powertrain," what they're complaining about is the fact that this is not a race-SUV, or an off- roader. If you want off-roading, go elsewhere; this is a family vehicle that can handle trails of the NORMAL variety. It can handle soccer games, radio controlled planes, and trips from Grandma's at Christmas. I enthusiastically recommend this vehicle!

The reviews from in-persons and through the computer have been incredible and I had to test drive for myself! I was EXTREMELY impressed with the handling, the standard features, the roominess, the looks and the warranty so much that after the test drive, I bought that "piece of crap!". Everyone that I've taken with me to drive or ride can't rave enough about the handling and how comfortable it is.

I tried every small and mid-size suv on the market. For the money, the Santa Fe has them all beat. It drives better than all but the Rav4 and the Forester, but comes in a V-6. It's bigger too, with more features. The only worry is whether it will be reliable, but with a 100K mile warranty, I'm hoping this won't matter much.

I first saw this car at a car show a couple years ago and was so excited! An suv I can afford! Then reality hit... but its a Hyundai. One afternoon I was listening to "the car guys" show and he talked about the bad rap this make of car has and that it is too bad because now, people are missing out on a gem. It was time to get a car and I did my research for months. Noone offered what Hyundai was offering. Found a base model on sale for 15,990. For this price, you get so much. I drive around feeling I have this best kept secret. I love this car. Even my beautiful base model.

Awesome SUV! This is my 3rd Hyundai. I stick with them because they stand behind their product with the best warranty in the business, and I like to purchase with all the options included. I don't like having to pick and choose for options so they can low- ball the price in the advertisements, and then when you go in to shop, you have to add $5,000 to the price! The only thing I would possibly complain about, which was in all of the reviews, is that it is a little slow off the start. This vehicle is heavy compared to similar vehicles, and the small 2.7L engine could use a little more umph to get going. Otherwise, as the title says, AWESOME!

I bought this vehicle by researching it on the internet. I didn't know a Hyundai from a Yugo. After comparing every small to midsized SUV on the market I surmised that this one presented the best value. It has performed flawlessly. People come up to me all the time in parking lots and whatnot and ask me what kind of vehicle it is. It looks like a Lexus SUV, but 15 grand less.

I tried several of the competitor's vehicles, then we saw a Santa Fe on the highway. We road-tested it and bought one. The stylish looks are far superior to others in same class. The vehicle is comfortable, quiet and powerful enough to be a pleasure to drive. The Santa Fe handles well and offers plenty of room for back seat passengers. Lot's of space in cargo compartment with easy access through hatch or door.

I researched SUV's until my wife was ready to kill me. Was looking hard at Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute until I saw the crash results (marginal). The Hyundai is a blast to ride, the wife keeps trying to take it from me! I paid $20,736 (before taxes and tags) and got rails, mats, guards, cargo mat and tray from Fairfax Hyundai (Danny Lee). Really impressed with the dealership. To get a Ford or Mazda equally equipped would cost another $3000-$4000.

Just bought a Santa Fe LX 4WD with V6 engine. It's great to drive and the most comfortable of the small SUVs. My husband is 6'7" & weighs 250. This is the roomiest small SUV. Forester was the smallest. He couldn't drive it. Also drove Jeep Liberty, Saturn VUE (nice), & RAV4. I wanted a RAV4 or a Jeep, but this car beat the others out. Didn't try Honda CR-V (couldn't wait, which also ruled out Saturn, but we still liked the Santa Fe better). This car is loaded. There are virtually no options on the LX. Bbought for $550 over invoice. Gas mileage is OK (at least as good as my '95 Taurus wagon). I love this car. Plan to drive it 100K mi.

I have had no problems with the Santa Fe yetr and don't forsee any problems in the future. I have taken out the desert and to the mountains for a little off- road action. It handled AWSOME. felt like I was in a Lexus, smooth, yet rugged enough to handle everything I thru at it.

My wife talked me into looking at this vehicle. To avoid a conflict, I gave it a token look. It blew my negative expectations away. I went back several times, each time looking for something negative. I simply couldn't find anything wrong. We also looked at the Mazda Tribute. The interior of the Tribute looked like a Ford pick-up from the 80's compared to the Santa Fe. I am very pro Honda and Toyota, this is right there with both of them. So far I am still in shock at the great sense of value I get each time I drive it. While I was waiting for them to clean my new Santa Fe up to take it home, the salesman threw me the keys to a 2003 Tiburon. Wow, that just may be my next purchase.

Hyundai used to suck...bad! Then they got a new CEO and viola! Major changes took place. If this vehicle is any indication of the rest of their lineup, Hyundai will be a major player in just a few more years. We have approximately 10,000 miles on our Santa Fe already and not a single problem to note. We tested the Escape, Liberty, and others. I then convinced my wife to test the Santa Fe just to be thourough in our research. We were both floored by the quality of the vehicle, the price, the warranty, standard features, etc., etc. IMHO, there is simply no better value out there.

It has changed and glad I did.

V6 GLS, front wheel drive, with traction control and ABS. It's bigger and rides smoother than a RAV 4,in my opinion, and is not as bulky as a Ford Explorer. Great warranty !!! It's a blast to drive. The 6cylinder is peppy, and seems to want to leap forward with little nudging of the gas pedal. The chassis smooths out those nasty New England potholes, bridge expansion joints, and ripples. The cloth seats were stiff, and bland, so we added leather seats (Katskin) which have an extra half inch of foam backing. We added seat heaters, and a Webasto sunroof.

I have had nothing but fun tooling around in my santa fe. It handles real smooth and is easy to drive. The engine is quiet but the cockpit with the windows open is noisy when you are in a confined area with traffic. A little more sound proofing would have been nice to block out the road sounds. The visibility at night is great the headlights along with the fog lights you can see pretty far ahead. I have the LX model which did not have a sun/moon roof option at the time of purchase other than that this is a great suv at a real value price and a great warranty. I would recommend this vehicle and the nice dealorship where I bought it.

Can you help? I noticed the rear seats do not fold down flat leaving a significant angle to that portion of the cargo area. Is that normal? I'm still in the shopping stage and this concerns me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Selected the 2WD for power requirements. Never ceases to amaze me with the options. Has seat warmers which my husbands $60K corvette convertible does not have. Replaced the multi-grade oil with fully- synthetic oil and experienced a huge difference in its responsiveness.

After driving a BMW 325IS for 5 years I decided that I needed to upgrade to something with 4 doors with the ability to carry cargo. I drove numberous other SUV's mini and mid sized. None of them could complete with the feel, drive, design, and space of the Hyundai, not to mention the warranty. The Hyundai Santa fe is the best in its class hands down and as they say "Driving is believing" beacause once you drive the new Hyundai's you will agree.

We looked at the Trib, the CRV, and the Escape, and it was close between the SF and the Escape, but the truck-like ride in the Ford wouldn't do for the long hauls. The kids have room in the back seat, we're comfortable in the front seat, there's room in the back for all our stuff; everyone's happy. My Dad, a mechanic, drove my SF and likes it better than his 2001 Highlander, which cost $4K more! What a cool looking vehicle!! I think it's the best design on the road, hands down. With the old Hyundai rep, I was wary of trying one. Now that I've bought the SF, it's pretty clear that they're serious about competing in the market. I'm converted!

We also looked at all of the small SUV's on the market. The RAV, Vibe/Matrix, Sportage and Tracker were too small. The Highlander was too expensive. The Vue and the Liberty was rather funky looking, and more expensive than the Sante FE. And the Liberty was very hard to get into and difficult to put groceries in the back window with the tire in the way. The Escape/Tribute a little noisey and also more expensive. The CRV was rather bland looking with a tire on the back door. The Sante Fe is the right size, the right price(loaded!), the right warranty and looks great, especially in Blue!

We were down to the wire between the RAVA and the Santa Fe. I have been a longterm Toyota customer, but the featurers, warranty and the price of the Santa Fe far out weighted my customer loyalty to Toyota. This car has the same ( except outside temp. display and V8 engine ) featurers as my 99 Landcruiser at less than half the price. Very solid ride and no rattles. Hope it holds up through the warranty like my Toyota's have.

With the items that you get from the Santa Fe and the price. You can't beat it. No other SUV in its class or any others go for that price. But on an Auto frame instead of a truck frame is great. I test drove the Rodeo and the Santa Fe back to back twice at the dealership and the salesman was pushing the Rodeo. But I loved the ride and the feeling of the Santa Fe. Great for taller people.

Great car for the money, I looked at everything, CRV, Vibe, Matrix, Rav4, Escape, Sportage, XL7, ect... And none of them came as nicely packaged as the santa fe. With such features as Heated leather seats, Automatic climate control with outside tempeture gauge, AWD and V6, coupled to a sportronic shifting automatic transmission, and not to mention the Tape+CD player who could refuse for under 23k. Heck they even threw in the plastic mud guard for the cargo area, roof crossrails, Trailer hitch, and mudguards all out the door (Taxes, tags ect...) for 23700. Cannot be beat by the competitors. Best Bang for buck in the SUV arena.

After spending hours online researching car reviews and typical pricing-- I settled on two cars: Hyundai Santa Fe and Mazda Tribute. I wasn't excited about the prospect of being a "Hyundai" owner (old bad rap). So, I test drove both twice. The Hyundai felt stronger, felt bigger, drove smoother, had the shiftronic (wife can't drive a stick) and had a far better Warranty offer. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome and felt the price on the GLS with ABS+Traction was a great value. Ignore the past bad rap with this company and test drive a Santa Fe if you are in the small-ute market~ before the price goes up.

We are the proud new owners of a Pewter Santa Fe LX AWD. It is truly a "neighbour's envy, owner's pride"! The other favorite was the Mazda Tribute. Four reasons why we went for the Santa Fe: 1)Stalling problems and recalls in the Tribute. 2)Good crash test rating for Santa Fe(top of its class) 3)SF loaded with a lot of standard features. 4)SF exterior stands out from the rest.

I had my heart set on a Ford Escape or a Toyota RAV 4 but after driving it I found the Escape noisy and boring. Who would want a 3 year warranty when you can have a 5 year, 60000 miles with Hyundai? The Santa Fe is a much better looking car with a comfortable interior and excellent value for money. I know there are people who will always say a Hyundai is a Hyundai. Well, I suggest they go and drive the car before giving it the third degree. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

We traded in our 1999 Rav4, which we bought new, on the Santa Fe. We really liked the Toyota but did not like its four cylinder engine's lack of power, its uncomfortable and cramped back seat, and its excessive interior road noise. The six cylinder Santa Fe is very quiet inside and has much more power and an extremely comfortable and roomy back seat. If the GLS proves to be reliable, we will always purchase Hyundai vehicles.

Styling (controversial--but I like it!) and features got me past the raised eyebrows when I told people I was looking at a Hyundai; ride (and price) convinced me to buy it. After three weeks, I am still surprised at how solid and sensible the Santa Fe is--I have no problems with either the engine's power or the firmness of the front seats (two areas that some reviews have questioned). It is built like something much more expensive, and it has a good (if incomplete) selection of "upscale" features. If you are looking at a small SUV, be sure to take the Santa Fe for a drive and discover what a change has occurred in Hyundai.

Ok, I admit that we have only had this vehicle for a couple of weeks and are still in the "honeymoon" period. However, this not-so-mini SUV is a real winner. Great (ok a bit funky) looks, roomy interior, sure-footedness, quiet, capable power, and a tremendous warranty. This car has every luxury amenity you could ask for and I cost me less than $22,000. The handling and peformance is terrific and after driving a 1999 Honda CRV for 3 years, it feels like I have really moved up in class.
