I get classic cars and that is what I like . Until I found my gt .well I did some thing I would never do .I traded my 1964 ford galxie 500 in great shape .but I did find my mustang gt 2002 . I thing is the best year I have found .I looked at a lot of them and found the 2002 to be like a tank yes its built that good .so I did find a classic .and I like the idea of having the 289 ci I loved that motor when I was a kid could not kill that motor .so I do not have a bad word to say .I found the classic I was looking for to keep for many years. thank you so much. ford you out did yourself.

Top down fun that is worry free. Proven V-6 engine with automatic is a solid Ford drivetrain. Back seat is for children and packages, not adults. Trunk is small to accommodate the convertible top. Head turning and sporty.

I trust over any new car.

I had a new car and had so many problems. Hard to work and picture it being a throw away car like some. I decided to go backwards to a 2002 V6 that reminds me more of the days a person could work on a car..HAHAHA There are some people who have these cars and they are over 200,000 miles. When you buy something at this age remember it may need a couple things. Don't gripe about it. Do your homework. Some people beat the Hell out of them. I happen to get mine from an older man in his 60's who took care of it.

I finally don't need a family car and bought an 02 GT with 100K miles at age 50. It needed a little TLC. I added a radio, new COP's, a gear shift knob, + more. I love this car. I get better than 27mpg on the highway and 23-24 combined. The engine is smooth and has a higher power-to-weight ratio than any car or truck I have had. It took me a couple of months to tame this Pony. I changed the real seals, bearings, left axle, and c-clips. One c-clip broke and ground up inside the left axle causing that bearing to fail. The car is definitely a sports car. I have a Flowmaster catback and Nexen 3000 tires with Bullet rims. Other drivers taunt me on the road. I just smile and enjoy.

I've had experience driving all sorts of vehicles, and I can say without a doubt that my 2002 Ford Mustang GT is among the best of the best in almost all categories. For starters, it's a Mustang, an American icon. Now take that image, add 260 stock horsepower and you've got a beast of a car. Not only is it powerful, it gets surprisingly great mileage; mine is getting roughly 26 mpg highway. The thing is also built like a tank; I haven't had any mechanical issues other than routine maintenance. The only issues are low seating capacity and cargo room, but hey, you don't get a Mustang in place of an SUV, do you?

This is such a cool car! A perfect blend of everything. Great styling, very reliable, comfy, big sound system, cool wheels, high modding potential, and it is quite quick. With the new Borla exhaust I added it now has incredible muscle car sound! For my first car I would have it no other way.

ive had the car for almost 2 years and have had 3 engines in it., Driver window fail, fuel pump failed, CD player failed and the transmission has small leak. i love the car& dont really plan on ever selling. but its not recommended for a daily driver, its not very reliable but its 10+ years old. But for a fun top down weekend warrior its great. and its idea for customization. I know more than 10 people with the same style mustang GT, and they have problems too, but still love them. if you buy one I recommend having $2-3k set aside for future repairs. MPG isnt great either I average 15MPG combined... But it works for me because I only drive the car maybe once a month.

Simple put i'v wanted this car since i was ten years ole. A couple months before i was old enough to drive i finally bought her. I got a 2002 mustang gt 5 speed manuel. It's a beatiful shade of red that goes perfectly with the edgy body style it boosts. I bought her with 62,000 miles. In the 4 months I had her i already dropped 3 grand into her with tasteful modifications. i put slp headers, bassani cat back which sounds awesome. tint in the back and chrome salean 5 star lug wheels. Also a couple other chrome accesories and looks sick as hell. Car turns heads everywhere i go. I get so much attention for it and i love her. sound system sounds good and performance is great. Great car.

I previously owned a 02 6cyl mustang and bought an 02 8 cyl mustang with the 5-speed transmission about a year after selling my 6 cyl. I got it when it had around 100,000 miles and have performed only routine maintenance in 10,000 miles. I was told it had the clutch replaced right before I bought it. I would recommend getting the 8cyl if you have the opportunity as it has been much more fun to drive. The trim was better shape than I would have expected for 100,000 miles. No leaks or rattles however my steering wheel and gear shifter were badly worn. I'm not sure if this was from the previous owner or if this is common. Mach 460 Stereo has great sound. Driver's seat is also comfortable.

Bought this car used in 2006 with only 24,xxx miles on it. Now there are 92,xxx and it is still amazing. I have only had one issue besides the routine things (oil change, brakes, etc) and that was the alternator. I had bought the extended warranty thus even that was covered. I chose this car for its 5 star crash rating, the powerful engine (use to have a 4 cylinder), nice under hood layout, and, of course, looks. It is a mustang after all. Only issues I have with the car is the poor gas mileage and the not so smooth ride.

I bought this car new in '02 at a dealership where I worked as a tech. I have put 192k miles on this car with regular maintenance and a few performance tweaks. I still get 25 mpg with a 3.73 rear end gear and a five speed manual. The engine is as strong as when it was new. The only parts that failed outside of normal wear was the 6CD changer (twice) and the brake hydroboost unit which was still under warranty at the time. It has always been a solid, predictable performer. This is a sports car. It rides, handles, and acts like a sports car. It is not a dragster or a luxury boat. Long trips will hurt passengers.

My husband bought this car for me to replace my tired Mazda 626. The 626 was very well-equipped, so the Mustang falls short on a number of "extras". The biggest problem is the hard ride. It's fine on smooth pavement, but who has that to drive on any more? The clutch is also extremely tricky. I am accustomed to driving various vehicles with standard transmissions, but mastering this one is very difficult. My spouse has the same problem. I love the look of the car, but have had to equip the driver's seat with a hospital-quality wheelchair seat cushion to avoid having a splitting pain in my neck when driving.

Quick and Fun! 78,000km on it & running strong. Good power, runs 5.4 seconds 0-60 stock. Responds well to modifications. Very comfortable seats, although not sporty feeling or looking. Interior is basic. Exterior looks fantastic. Bullitt rims are a must. Stereo has good bass and overall sound. Good on gas, for what it is. Best is 28.1 MPG highway. Worst is 17.9 all city. Average is 22 mpg, getting on it here and there. Sounds WICKED with full exhaust (I have a MAC Prochamber and Flowmasters). Lots & lots of compliments on sound & looks. Word to the wise: Check the transmission well before buying; this is a weakspot in alot of models. I would highly recommend this car! No problems.

Bought my '02 gt new as a retirement hot rod/project. It now is supercharged with 4:10 gears, drag radials, lowered suspension, modified exhaust, etc. Have done all the work myself and must say it has been a fun experience. This car will absolutely pull your head off and now handles like a slot car! Car is still dead reliable.

I own a 2002 ford convertible mustang which I bought in 2007 april but since then I've never enjoyed my ride. This car is full of vibrations. I took to many good local dealers but they couldnt fix it and finally wanted to go to the Tulsa Ford showroom but these people, even though they do not have any work, doesn't bother to look at my car. This is the experience I had with a FORD vehicle.

Love my convertible. Fun to drive and enjoy the power. If you have more than one child, makes for a challenge if they want to take friends somewhere. Not much trunk space. Looks good and sounds even better. Didn't buy the car for fuel efficiency, so gas mileage is not an issue for me. Multiple CD changer and sound system add to it's appeal. Convertible top easy to operate.

2nd owner at 40k. Sold at 72k. In my short time with the car I had no problems at all. It drove well and the only things I had to do were oil changes, battery died, and tires. I liked the look of the car. Interior was all leather and matched the car well. Only reason I got rid of it was because I live in NY and I can't stand driving it in the winter. Its RWD, and even with brand new snow tires and bags in the trunk it was still iffy. As far as driving it, it rode fairly smooth. needed a wheel alignment towards the end of my ownership so it got a little shaky but nothing terrible. I will say this though. I owned an automatic v6 3.8l and it was not fast at all. grab the GT stick if u wantspeed

I just bought my self a midlife crisis treat, a 2002 Mustang GT convertible with a five speed manual tranny and all the bells and whistles available in 2002. I was sitting in the Corvette I was going to buy when it caught my eye. There isn't a mark on it inside or out and is, if I may use the term a freakin' rocket. The sound system is incredible! Yes, old guys still rock.....best thing I ever did for myself...if you don't have one, get one!

Driving the Mustang is fun. I usually get 24-29 mpg; lower for strictly city driving. Other than regular maintance I am at about 160,000 miles and recently had my first car incident with a u-joint replaced. I added a sun roof when I made the purchase and am passing it down to my son!

I bought this car new in 2002 and have not had any major problem since. The engine check light came on at 30000 miles, I took it to the dealer and they replaced a sensor at no cost since it was still under warranty. I now have 90000 miles on it. It runs fine with basic maintenance such as oil changes, air filter and I change my fuel filter every 20000 miles. The car doesn't handle well in wet weather. Otherwise it drives very smooth and very reliable with very little repair cost (still on original battery, alternator, clutch, AC). I would buy another Mustang.

I purchased the 6cyl Mustang in 06 at 73,000mi as my first car and drove it about 13,000mi. It broke down twice, both times due to the alternator. The second breakdown was because an old alternator had been used to replace the first one and based on what I've read reliability doesn't seem to be a common problem with this car. Other than that I really enjoyed the car; the V6 had adequate power, although I would recommend the V8. I found that careful driving could get about 20mpg out of the automatic V6; I'm sure a manual could be fairly economical. The car was fun to drive on short trips, and I never noticed any issues with comfort on longer drives. I would recommend this car to anyone.

The car just seems to fit me perfect. It reminds me of a cockpit actually. And man oh man does the car scream. I have loved Mustangs for years, and finally got one. Ford really does a good job with the stangs. A lot of people complain that it's pretty "normal" when it comes to features and luxuries.. Well it's a MUSCLE CAR, they aren't known for being like a Luxury car. They have less gadgets and more power. People who by Mustangs aren't concerned with such things, or gas mileage. For what it has, gas mileage is great however.

Not only is the convertible fun to drive, it's fun to play with as well! I have flowmaster mufflers, a cold air intake, and various other modifications. The cool thing about mustangs is that it's not just a car, it can be a hobby.

I have always wanted a convertable for my long commutes home. This is real therapy. I love my car- it has been very reliable. No problems AT ALL from 60-110,000 miles I've had it. Soon it will need some maintanence, but probably expected. Gas mileage could be better, but it's an older car with a TON of power under the hood. Pretty comfortable, but the back seat is impractical for adult use. I think only small kids actually fit. Good sized trunk for the size of the car and it always feels safe. I like the traction control feature and the handling is superb. It's an easy ride, although mine is a little loud which makes it difficult to hear sometimes. It's been a great ride and lots of fun!

Girlfriend and I recently purchased the GT with less then 70,000 miles. Engine runs as good as anyone I have ever driven. The power is NICE! Don't have to worry about passing traffic or getting on the freeway. It's nice knowing those 300 pounds of torque are ready on tap anytime you need them. The car looks great with the top down and sure is a head turner where ever we go. For a 2002 model this car can almost kick the living crap out of any other car on the road when it comes to racing. 260 horse power and 302 pounds of torque well you get the picture. 0-60 in 5.4 secs and a quater mile time of 14.00 at 101 miles an hour, well that sure beats most imports by a mile even in 2009.

I bought my Mustang used. I have always loved the Mustangs. The only problem I had with mine is somebody changed the rear end oil and didnt seal it properly. I had to replace the gears and lsd. I replaced the 3.27s with 3.55s. Amazing. I have alot of mods: intake, exhaust, gears, suspension, rims, tires, shifter, audio, hand held tuner. The car responds well to mods. Through on an Eibach Pro System Plus Kit with good tires and the handling becomes go kart like. I recommend buying a Swarr Bar for the rear axles if you have a GT. This will make the car more predictable on take off and in corners. Only true problem I have had is the traction control kicking in too fast. I just turn it off.

I have had my Mustang GT now for over a year. I bought this car based on a lot of the reviews I found on this very site, which led me to want to write my own. My review is this: What a great car! Haven't had a single issue since I purchased it. The V8 runs fantastic at 79,500. Car handles well and the ABS/traction control work great. The build quality is as advertised, excellent. No rust, no broken plastics, no faulty or cheap electronics. Everything works and works well. The Mach360 stereo rocks like the day it was made. The 6 cd changer acted a little funny the first time I used it but since then hasn't had a single problem (the person I bought the car from didn't use it.)

I purchased my 2002 GT in March of 2007 after waiting many years to be able to afford one. This car is a real head turner in Laser Red with the factory 5 spoke aluminum rims. I have upgraded the exhaust with a set of Flowmaster 40's (mufflers) and the intake with a K&N cold air intake. Both aftermarket options cost about $500 installed and completely changed the car and woke it up. Would recommend these ad-ons to anyone. A real fun dependable fuel efficient car for the money. I bought the car with 49,000 miles on it and now have 57,000 and I have done nothing but change the oil and put rear brake pads on it.

Bought the car in 2005 with 33,000 miles. fun to drive but gets the same, 20/22 mpg,in city or highway driving. Needs on more high end gear ratio so car doesn't stop when you take your foot off gas. Interior quality is poor. Automatic door lock don't work and the plastic trim is falling off. I live in AZ. and the air conditioner is very poor in hot weather. Car overheats, and a really big drag on the engine.

Love this car. Bought it for my daughter but she can't get the 5 speed down so she doesn't like to drive it in town. So I drive it to work since it's good on gas. About 30 miles on the hwy each day. Gets really light in the back end at over 100. I see why the GT's have the spoiler.

I purchased my Mustang GT through Ebay in 2005 (had 45,000 miles), with excellent success. I drive the car quite often, with multiple out of state trips. The highway mileage is 27- 29 mpg (this at 80 mph!), the city mileage is 20-23 mpg (depends on AC usage). I'm nearing 100,000 miles, with absolutely no issues. I would buy another Mustang in a heartbeat.

I had an attack of patriotism so I had to buy American, also 3rd mid-life crisis! More comfortable than I would have imagined, corners great and I love the sound. A little clunky, but hey, it's a Ford. Fast enough that you have to watch the speedometer. I drove from Idaho to NY and averaged 70 MPH, I got 24 MPG on regular gas! What's not to like? A lot of fun for the money!

I purchased this car with 1,500 miles on it back in late '02. I saw it on the lot, and I wanted it right away. I did want a V8 instead of a V6 for the power and bragging rights of having a V8, but it was $8,000 more for it. I still love this car though. It's now 07 and I have 54k miles on it. I have had no problems yet. I am happy with the way it handles, and of course I love the look. Drivers side door when I open it squeaks now, but wd-40 takes care of it. No biggie. I definitely would get another one again, but that won't happen since I don't like the '05+ look.

First off, I overpaid for the car by about $2-3k. Which wouldn't be a problem because I love the design of the car, and the constant attention it gets. But the car loses value at an unacceptable rate. It's honestly sickening, it's been sitting in my garage for 4 months and it's lost over $2k in value!

I love this car! Always reliable and looks beautiful. The car has never let me down. Just enough power to get you in trouble, while still getting good gas mileage! The car is comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Takes about 3 seconds to pass a motorhome while cruising at 55mph on the highway. The car provides excellent performance. Suspension is stiff, so you don't get the luxurious ride of a Lincoln, but that was not the manufacturer's idea. Would highly recommend!

I bought my Mustang as my first large purchase and a good one at that. I also bought the extended warranty (which I recommend for any car). I changed the oil every 3,000 miles and had all the recommended work done. I had a couple of leaks here and there, but nothing that wasn't covered under the warranty. I bought it at 20,000 miles and drove it until someone hit and totaled it at 70,500 miles. I was 'T'ed on a city street very hard and the Mustang held up like one of those ancient tank cars. I'm very sad now, but I will always love my Mustang!

This is the 2nd Mustang GT that I have owned the first being a 2000. I love everything about the car. It is fun to drive on the freeway and through the curves. The 02 is much improved over the 2000. The clutch and transmission seem to be in better harmony with the car and the driver. Given the chance, I would purchase the same car again.

I have owned my 2002 Mustang GT Convertible now for about 18 months. It consistently outperforms the hottest of import sports cars, even those advertising 30-40 more horsepower. Gas mileage is a pleasant surprise... 18-20 in town, 25-27 on the highway. The car is not really tightly built, but it holds up well even under hard use. The sum total of the pieces add up to a car that is quick, fast, exciting and fun to drive, and turns heads wherever it goes. I could not have done better with my money.

I just purchased my 2002 Mineral Gray Mustang GT two weeks ago. I was going to trade in my wife's car, give her my SUV (since she is stopping work), and buy a sports sedan for myself. I looked around and found that the sports sedans I liked, even used, were about $27k and up. I found this car with 17k miles for $15.8k. So I kept both cars and added this as a third. It already has the Magnaflow exhaust and cold air intake system. I highly recommend the Magnaflow exhaust for this particular year. It really sounds great. Not too loud, not as soft as the stock. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and they fit in the back no problem. Took 7 years of convincing my wife, but worth it.

This is the most reliable car I have ever owned. Before buying the car I considered either the Mustang or a Trans Am. I picked the Mustang because it looks better on the outside and on the inside. It's also a great car for modding. Just added 3.73 gears, K&N intake, Diablo Predator programmer, Bassain O/R X-pipe, Borla catback, short throw shifter, and lowering springs. Also add 03 Cobra rims with 315's in rear and you're set. With these mods I put down 278rwhp and 308rwtq.

Many say that the Ford Mustang is not safe to drive in the rain or in the snow. I have driven it in both weather types. I believe that it does just fine. The thing to worry about is the driver. You know you're driving a sports car, therefore, be careful and everything else is fine.

Bought my 2002 Ford Mustang Coupe (232 Cu. In. V6, Auto/OD, Premium Edition) in August 2002. Vehicle has performed very well driving back and forth from Pittsburgh, PA, to Secaucus, NJ every other weekend, about 400 miles one way. The Mustang cruises effortlessly at highway speeds. Tranny is properly geared for city commutes, allowing the engine's torque peak to be used readily (torque peaks at just 2,750 RPM). Gas mileage ranges from 22 MPG in stop-and-go driving to 31 MPG on long, flat highway drives at 65 MPH. Sound system is good; AC handles summer heat. Still uses NO oil between changes! Goes WELL in snow, including recent trip through WV mountains during snowstorm! Still original battery.

Perfect blend of quality and value. The interior is far more roomy than my old '97, though the back is still very small. Seems to handle flawlessly, with the exception of hitting a bump or a groove on a bridge while turning. Traction control is amazing, got me out of my parking lot uphill on glare ice where my old car would be running in place. Stops on a dime and you just get the feeling that it is an extremely safe car once you start driving it. Might not be the most gas-efficient but you will not find another car with this kind of performance that will get you 20/28 mpg.

I bought the GT as a "second" car for fun and to be an owner of the most popular performance car ever. It's a good car - no big complaints. Acceleration is adequate given the factory gear ratio. Cornering and handling are merely average considering the weight of the vehicle. I got the Mach 1000 option and am only marginally satisfied with its performance considering the price ($1200). Build your own stereo system, swap the axle gears to a 3.73 or 4.10, add a Predator tuner, and buy a lowering/performance suspension system and you'll have a great car.

Bought this car used from a private party. Granted the transmission Ford outsourced may be the weakest link and I have taken it to the dealer for repairs. Perfect car to drive, I bought it about a month after I turned 18 and let me tell you a lot of heads were turning too when I went by. So comfortable, nice looking, road unbelievable. Also having this car saved my life when I totalled it two weeks ago, some girl hit me. Held up very well in the crash, the car was just so awesome, I wouldn't suggest driving it in the snow though. I had two problems with the car but they were stupid things, a plug came out of my antifreeze(a 99 cent part), and there was a hole in my windshield wiper container, both covered under warrenty. Unfortunaty I think I have retired the Mustang for now I'm looking at other cars.

What drew me to this car is the great exterior design: The stance is good, the ride height is right on, the wheels are sharp, Mineral Grey color is gorgeous, I personally like the scoops. The acceleration is great for day to day driving, especially if you need to get around someone on the freeway. The handling makes drivingaround town fun. Ford puts a decent stereo in this car (Mach), but the exhaust note sounds even better. I'm not too thrilled with the interior quality (seat foam, dash plastics that squeak), but I can live with it knowing what I paid for a V8.

Gas mileage is good for the V8; 20 city, 26-28 highway. I wouldn't trade the car for anything; except a Mach 1 or Cobra. (Maybe next year) And black was definitely the color; the car looks MEAN.

I am especially disappointed in my dealership(The Bohn Zone) they wouldn't "cut me a deal" because I didn't get maintance work done their. I thought buying the car their would be enough. It may be too early to give this car a total review because my wife and I just bought this car yesteday, but our initial experience is nothing short of spectacular. The ride is smooth and I love the muscled roar of the engine as you accelerate. With the V6 engine, I'm not going to win too many drag races, but that's not why we bought the car. The interior is more comfortable than many of the other sports cars we have and I could go on and on about how much I love how it looks. This is a great car for what it is. Highly reliable and much sexier than a Focus for only about $1,500 more. The Mustang still turns heads and the V6 is insurable for teenagers. While I wouldn't want to drive cross country in it, it's a great commuter, off to college car.

I have driven my car for about 8 months and I love it. True there are more powerful cars out there but they have bigger engine. The 4.6 does great for it's displacement and I think that the car has a great drivetrain. I would have to rate this car higher than any I've had to date excepting my new 93 Cobra. The quality and dependability of the car is great and it draws attention if you like that concept.

This mustang is awesome, (the convertible) except it has very slow pick-up rates. I seem to have to floor it for a few seconds before it even starts going fast. It is a little disappointing. Here's a tip:try not to use the air conditioning, because it drains the gas and lowers performance.

I first started with a 98 LX silver Mustang and have been hooked ever since... I like the body styles and the performance for the price... I wish that the car could be a little more spacious.. I'm very satisfied with the quality and I never had any problems with my 98 which I put about 45,000 miles on, but my GT has had some minor problems it's first year... I can't wait til the 2005's come out and I plan on either moving up to the Cobra or another GT...

My 2002 Gt has very poor ride on the interstate. The vehicle has a constant vibration at 70 mph. The car has had 11 tires replced and the drive shaft. The car still has a vibration coming from the engine. Ford motor company tells me nothing wrong with vehicle. I will never buy another FORD.

This car needs more power! I feel like I have to work way too hard to blow some very ordinary cars away! It took me until 3rd gear to finally pull away from a Toyota Avalon the other day...That's Embarrassing! It also needs more room. I'm 6'3" and the seat needs to go back another 2" and down another 1". Ford definitely has the best looking muscle car on the market, but it needs more power, err muscle!

You cannot get more fun in a car for under $25K. Sticks to the road, just enough torque to feel racy, and a great sound system, with a muscular, punchy styling. This car is solid and remains tight. One exception: squeeky windows that the dealer fixed. But not a single other problem since October 01. Essentially, Ford focused on the things a buyer like me wants, so there may be some paint runs under the trunk, but who cares? Do I wish it had about 40 more horsepower? Yes, its not quite as fast as its looks suggest, but that is being picky. Buy the GT for a few grand more if that is your concern. Overall, a surprisingly great buy.

BEWARE of the 2002-2003 GT Mustang Deluxe....it has an engine problem that the engineers "are still working on" it idles VERY rough unless you have the air conditioner on- then it settles down. Since you can't drive in the winter with the air on..it is a problem. The service dept. says it is with all standard GT's of those years. It is building up carbon...so take it in!!!!!!!!! They are replacing sensors and such,,,but to no avail! Mine is not the only one!!!BEWARE!!!!!you will hate it. it is junk. I bought it at invoice and am upset down by 10,000. I bought this car as a "fun" car. I find it a pleasure to drive, especially with the top down. The V6 is one of the best in it's class and has plenty of pep.If you want to race, buy the GT.Yes it has inadequate storage, that's not what it's built for! It's built for pleasure, not hauling the family. For the price,I don't think you can find a better looking, more reliable convertible.People might immediately shout Sebring. My answer, buy a Sebring if you LOVE your service mangager, because you'll be seeing alot of him.Been there, done that!Ford has done a good job of putting all of the essential options into an affordable package.

Bought a 2002 V6 auto a week ago w/just under 25K miles, and it's awesome! I didn't need a car that goes 0-60 in 4 seconds, but this car still passes plenty of "sporty" cars without much effort. Plus, it's fun to drive and looks good, too. I usually buy imports, and just hope that F.O.R.D. doesn't really stand for Fix Or Repair Daily! So far, it hasn't missed a beat. Smooth ride, and not bad on gas.

I bought this car for the V-8 power and excitement. The leather and power was just to show off for the girls. It leaks in the car wash. It's noisy as all (blank) due to the flowmasters. It has cowl shake. The rear suspension is crap, but it puts the power down, and that's the point. It's loud and proud, it's fast, and it eats the lunch of most challengers, especially those snippy hondas. If I wanted nice, I would've gotten an Acura.

In 2004 the ford mustang will be improved and totaly redisigned. I suggest you wait because this very dated generation is, well garbage. First of all, though 260hp is alot of horsepower, it's a joke for a v8! I mean, come on the other night I had a nissan altima 3.5 pull on me. This car is 90 percent plastic on the inside. I got into a fender bender as someone rear ended me and I rolled into a sign. I found out the exterior is made of plastic too!! I got a hole in my rear and front bumper which cost a lot of fix, because both the bumpers needed to be replaced. Hopefully the 2004 will be improved.

I recently bought the 2002 v-6 5-speed mustang in Feburary 2003. It is brand new with only 38 miles. I traded my 1988 v-6 auto camaro in with 161,000 miles, when I seen the mustang advertized for under $12k. Over-all it handles great. After driving it a couple of weeks and 2 washings, a small area on the front bumper has the clear coat blistered, so the car is currently back at dealer where they are repainting the bumper. I owned my camaro for 14 yrs, so am seeing if this mustang will last as long with as much mileage. So far, I am verrrry pleased with entire car.

First and foremost, I love my '02 Mustang GT. This car is a blast to drive. I have never owned a car that I have just loved to drive without any particular destination. My only complaints with my Mustang: 1. The manual shifter is positioned to far forward to be comfortable for frequent shifting. It would be much more comfortable if the manual shifter was positioned at the first cup holder or even the second cup holder. 2. THAT INTERIOR BACK WINDOW IS A REAL...YOU KNOW WHAT TO CLEAN. :-) I'm really looking forward to the re- designed Mustang in '04 or '05.

I am 23 and within reason, this is definitely my DREAM car!! I love the fact that I see all kinds of different people driving around in a Mustang-- frat boys, hot college chicks, moms, dads, even the occasional "Senior." This car is fun, fast and definitely an attention getter. I considered the GT, but decided the V6 was plenty of power and was told by a few other people that the little extra power you get is not worth the BIG insurance increase and frequent stops at the gas station. If you like to live life with the top down, this car will make you happy every day.

All in all, Ford has put out a decent enough commuter vehicle and/or 'fun- car'. As an owner of the 2k2 Mustang, I can say that its stock performance alone leaves you a bit wanting... you LOOK fast, but you're comparatively slow. However, very little money needs to be put in to make this a sleek and stylish vehicle for your everyday use (Namely, window tinting). And for those of you who plan to put some money into your 'stang, the modification possibilities are incredibly vast... so you can truly make your 'stang personalized.

I get lots of looks and comments at stop lights. Nice acceleration. Incredible sound system. Not too bad gas mileage, all things considered. My mineral grey with black convertible top and black leather interior 'stang looks great. My main complaint is that, on 3 separate occasions, the gas flow to the engine shut off when I was decelerating with the clutch pushed in - probably a computer chip problem that can be fixed by the dealer at no-cost to me. I plan to keep this car forever, although I will likely be buying a 4-wheel drive Escape for winter driving.

The manual transmission adds punch. The handling is terrific. We love to drive it. Sound system is fantastic, and the instruments, controls and drivers seat are very comfortable. I'd highly recommend it. Like the 1967, my plan is to keep it forever. I'll give you another review in 35 years!

My favorite view of my car is when I am looking at the rear lights especially at night matched with the light on my aftermarket rollbar. It is absolutely adorable! I love vrooming around in it and hearing the engine. It really turns heads and the leather interior is very comfortable. There are many mustang pony markings on my car. I like running my hand over the rised pony in the center of my steering wheel. If I could do it again would I still buy a mustang convertible? In a heartbeat.

Overall it's a very fun car to drive on smooth, twisty roads with the top down. Throw in the Mach stereo system and a lot of fun can be had. To get the most fun out of this car, it needs to be pushed: high revs and twisty bits of pavement will plaster a smile to your face. As far as practicality is concerned, this car leaves a bit to be desired. The trunk is small and the back seat is barely usable. Get this car off of smooth surfaces and squeaks and rattles abound. The FE isn't too bad for a V8. If you're looking for a fun, RWD, convertible that has great looks, a decent interior, a great sound system, you'll probably be satisfied with this vehicle.

I purchased new GT back in March of 02. I was thrilled with the car in every way. Sadly, I only had it for about 3 months and 4,000 miles when some kid (without insurance) lost control on a wet road and t-boned me in the driver's side door at about 40 mph. The fire department had to use the jaws of life to pull the door off of my lap. However, all I came out of it with was 10 stitches in my elbow from the glass and a really sore hip for a couple of weeks. After I finally saw the outside of the car, I saw just how well it had saved my life. In conclusion, I had full insurance and will be getting the "exact" same color and model sometime this week.

I feel the car is a good balance between comfort and performance. It is quick and handles well enough to be fun, and comfortable enough to be my daily driver. The car also gets pretty good gas mileage ranging from 21-26 mpg.

I drove but didn't by the GT pony. I'm 5'7" and found it to not have enough head room. The interior was very plain. My biggest problem though was the big drop in power when shifting into second gear. The car REALLY dropped out of its power band.

Love the exhaust sound, and there is nothing like the wind blowing through your hair in a convertible. It turns alot of heads and I get a lot of positive comments from people. Gas mileage is excellent, near 28 mpg on the highway. Small issue with driver's side window that I need to get fixed but otherwise a very fun car.

First of all, I really got a great deal on my new Mustang and highly reccomend Traedwell Ford of Mobile, AL. Went back to the Mustang GT after a few years off and it as sweet as I remember it. I could do without the caution tags on the visor that will not seem to come off. Also the stereo buttons placement on the stereo make it very hard to see the stereo display when you are making adjustments. I hate the seatbelt warning sound when you are not wearing your belt and that the seat will not lay back. Please remember that the good over lap the bad by far but just some things to consider before you buy.

This car has truly been the best car I have ever had the pleasure of owning; and I have owned a camero, a corvette, a celica, and an eclipse. I treasure every moment I drive it. Driving my Mustang has now become my favorite thing to do in life. I never liked Mustangs very much until I drove one. Then i decided to buy one. It was the best decision I have ever made.

This is my third mustang. I went from the standard v6 coupe, to the v6 coupe premium convertible, to the now v8 premium convertible....which is no other way to describe than Simply Amazing. The v6 is good......but once you drive the amazing v8, you will not settle for anything less. If you can afford the extra cash I highly suggest opting for the more agressive v8.

After owning a True Blue / Graphite interior convertible for 6 months, we haven't had any problems or trips to the dealer for repairs. Performance could be better, especially since other brands are getting over 250HP from smaller V6 motors (my 11-year-old Accord is faster). However, since this is a relatively economical model, we don't expect as much. We just drove 800 miles on a recent trip, and it ran smooth and strong on the freeway. It was really great winding through wine country in central CA with the top down, warm sun, beautiful ride.

This is my fourth Mustang since 1983, and Ford, IMO, continues to improve on quality and performance with each new offering. Hey, this 'great bang for your buck' vehicle ain't a Corvette or Camaro, but if you really need a Chevy killer, order yourself a new '03 Cobra. Some of the above reviewers express a dissatifaction with their new ride; you've got to thoroughly test drive and check for interior/exterior flaws before you sign the dotted line! I went through 4 new GTs on 3 different lots before I found one with a flawless paint job and mechanical operation. Hood and side scoops are fake - so what! They add to the overall looks of a great car!

Coveting for 3 decades can lead to one heck of a fall. This ragtop GT has satisfied my every childhood and adult expectation, unwaveringly. The car came out of the factory problem- free, as specced. Not a single problem has arisen in 6 fine months of ownership. Worried about reliability? Forget it. My '89 LX 5.0 has 149+k and is STILL kicking fast, fast, fast. Fit and finish are excellent, as are the price, peformance, steering, braking and handling. You want upscale luxury and similar features? That's your problem. I'll take this Ford and retire younger. Live below your means, folks. The real fun is behind that chromed galloping pony.

I am one of those poor bastards having to commute 50 miles up and down every day. What better way than to do it in a Mustang convertible! It sounds great (both with the top up and down), not in the least because of the great Mach sound system. My wife loves it too, especially when she straps the kiddy seats in the back (they actually fit!) and the girls sit there with the top down trying to keep the long hair out of their faces. You should hear them screaming "Yahoo!" every time she pulls up from a traffic light.

The Mustang is surely one of the best muscle cars in today's market. The design is very original and distinctive. Both the V8 and the V6 versions offer plenty of horsepower and make this car very fun to drive. Handling is good and predictable, but could be improved. The seats are confortable and the overall build quality is very good. The interior is stilish but the door handles are way too cheap. The trunk is surprisingly spacious and functional. This car is perfect for everyday driving.

I'm 47 and just bought this car for some driving fun. It hasn't disappointed. The 5-speed shifts very smoothly. The engine growl is very pleasing from the inside cabin, even though it could be a bit louder from the outside dual exhaust. The Mach 1000 stereo is awesome. The ride even though stiff, doesn't bother me. I knew before buying the car that everything would not be perfect, but what is? In my opinion, the car rides great, sounds agressive enough, has plenty of power for my driving habits and is exciting to drive.

Car has been taken back to the dealership for service an endless amount of times. Clutch replaced at 2,000 miles because of defective pressure plate, bad fuel pump, truck latch replaced - would pop open going 70 mph down the interstate, truck light would not turn off and drained the battery several times. I would recommend this car to anyone whom wants a sporty, agressively styled car with the retro look and personality of a sixties musclecar.

Retro in style, in handling, and in functionality. Nothing too hi-tech, better than average sound system, so-so power (no, it's not a 390 or 460 Ford, but it can also pass the gas station without stopping for a drink!). Sitting in the driver's seat reminds me of the view of my old '58 T-bird (dual "cockpit", hood scoop). The ride's nice, the 5-speed has a longer throw than I like, but then again, I'm not going to "power shift" at my age. The rear seat - is nonfunctional (I don't have kids/grand kids to worry about). As far as I'm concerned, it's an extension of the trunk. The car is primarily a 2-seat "sports" vehicle thatÂ’s more functional than an old MG (and maybe a lot more reliable).

I bought the Mustang GT Vert for one reason: to have fun on those summer days/nights. For performance, it doesn't pull like a V8 @ all. It's missing a little grunt. For a 260HP/3800+Lbs ratio, I really did not expect for this car to fly. Interior design is superb, especially that I got the tan leater interior. I really don't like the fact that Ford had to place the shifter so far. An 18 wheeler truck's shifter is much closer. Exterior design:It takes time before you get used to it. Hate those antennas. For a car under $30K, I would recommend the Mustang GT, NOTHING ELSE!!!

After adding my cold air intake, dual exhaust, short throw shifter and new wheels, i easily made it in the 15's in the 1/4. Its a fun car to take out and road race, and I get alotta looks in the nice zinc yellow.

The cloth seats in the Mustang GT are horrid. I am 6'2 - 6'3 and for the first week or so when I bought the vehicle I had a hell of a time getting comfortable. I am okay with it now. I have not sat in the premium with the leather seats but if it is anything like the Mercury 2002 Couger the leather seats are probably a lot better. If not for the seating I would rate the interior and comfort higher. Other than the seat I love the car.

After the car had approximately 2500 miles I started smelling burning oil. The dealer investigated the smell during the first oil, said nothing wrong. They discovered an oil leak on the head gasket and said the head gasket was blown. They said this was the cause of the smell. I was in disbelief, how could this happen I am the only driver and the car has always run fine and never run hot. The dealer said this was an isolated problem.Ford replaced the head first when that failed to correct the problem they installed a rebuilt engine. When I complained they extended the warranty to 100K.

I like the car. It is a great deal of fun to drive. The interior is reasonably comfortable and the controls and displays are laid out quite well. It handles well except over bumps(the solid rear axel has to go. The engine performance is OK not great. A 3.8 liter v-6 engine should be providing at least 220 HP. The engine is also unrefined, could run a little smoother and less noisy.

When I am rolling the window down or up there is this very LOUD squeeking noise. I can not take it through a touchless car wash because it leaks. If that is the case then Ford should have their sales people explain that to the buyer before purchasing the car.

With a V-8 and an exhaust that tells people that you are coming this is a really fun car to drive. Ford really did a good job of providing a car with a very nice power to dollar ratio.

Yes, you could say I'm a mustang buff. I've had V6's, GTs, convertibles, and a cobra. My current car is a fully loaded 2000 mustang gt. Completely a blast to drive, and looks good when it's clean. If you're buying this car for ride quality, forget about it. Solid rear axle muscle cars aren't meant to feel like you're riding on a cloud--they're meant to tear up the pavement as fast as you can drive them. Get in, step on the gas, and have fun racing some camaros.

Mustang is fun. Negative: these huge air-scoops - would like to get rid of that but it's standard. Ford should give their customers the choice if they want that. Some minor quality issues : squeeking noise in dashboard, rear seat with small gap in cloth (fix under warranty...) Rear solid axle is from the museum - but with US speeds certainly acceptable (would not try that on high speed European roads...) Net - a fun car with acceptable negatives - we like to dirve and wait for sun.

Great car, fun to drive!

Performance is not as fast as the Camaro/Firebird V8's; but with a little tweaking you can hit that 300hp line and be right up there with them. As far as comfort; well the 5-speed stick is quite a reach to get to; the most comfortable place for it would be where the first cup-holder is. Same with radio controls; they are very hard to reach. The driver/passenger seat also do not recline very far.

Bought this car clobbered, was hit in side and warped like a banana. So I bought another cut them in half and put them together, quite a job but the car is one of the most fun to drive cars I've owned, love the drop top. decent power. But sad to say I must sell her. I need the down payment for my 2003 cobra convt. Rock On FORD!!! Keep bangin them out!

My 2002 Mustang GT Premium Coupe is brand spanking new, with only 100 miles on it at the time of this review. This is my first Ford, so I can't comment on the reliability. What really drew me to the car were its styling and value. I love the exterior, but am not too crazy about the interior. The value is unbeatable; I couldn't find anything comparable in power or features anywhere near the price. I'm looking forward to lots of good times with this American legend.

I purchased the 02 V6 Mustang because my insurance went up due to the horrible crash history of my 2000 ZX2. I gained almost 50% more hp for about the same monthly payment and, because it's a V6, my insurance only went up $40/yr. Niether one has a back seat, but now I have tons more leg room and a significantly better-driving vehicle.

I just purchased a 2002 Mustang GT Premium Coupe package, with the help from this site. I am very pleased with the looks, performance and handling. You don't have to be a Ford fan (for all those haters out there)to enjoy the thrill of a great looking vehicle, and the quick response from the 4.6L engine.

Never again!!!

We had the car for a month or so until we noticed the ground effects in the front were warped. We were told by Ford that we could either leave it alone or have them replace it.I elected to leave it alone. Overall, we were impressed with the acceleration and amenities of the car, along with the build quality of the somewhat dated interior. We were happy with the looks of the car and the Mach 460 sound system whether the top was up or down!

It's my 3rd Mustang GT. I've had a 94, 96 and 99 each having over 100K by the time I traded them in.No mechanical failures on any of them, and with minimal maintenence. Because I travel alot for work, I've opted to buy a car that does great on the highway. It's comfortable in long range trips, as it is in city driving. It's not a bone jarring ride like most other coupes. Quiet ride for the most part, V8 burble only makes itself heard on hard accelrations and wind noise is well controlled.

It's a very expensive pile

Who would pay $30,000 for an underpowered piece of junk? Sure, they're pretty, but where does the $30,000 come into place? You can get a BMW for the price of a Mustang. Come on people, stop wasting your money

Get a Camaro ...

I have had it with this car. I find myself challenged by Camaros from the late 80s. Even the 5.0 Foxes of days gone can give me a good run for the money. Where's the improvement, Ford? On the AutoX, because the rear-end is too high, I tend to fishtail out. I'm not a bad driver, either. FOr the money I could spend in mods, I would rather save up and buy an F-bod. GM, come back, I'm sorry!
