Best truck ever owned! With 246000 still runs great! I use it daily and I take it on a monthly 8 hour round trip drive to Drill and never had a single problem, I got lucky with mine since I bought it for 2 grand. I love driving stick shift and the 4.6combination makes its great! I currently get about 22 on highway and 15 in town. My dad really like my pick up that he bought one for himself and my brother. All of our fords have well over 240000 and we trust them dearly. About a month ago I bought my second f150 for my wife while Im gone for 6 months, she had 92 Chevy Silverado but we started having trust issues with it since it overheated. I have had Chevy, dodge and Ford trucks from half tons to 1 tons and this model f150 has been the most reliable and trustworthy truck I have ever owned.

I recently just bought a 2002 Ford F1 50 super crew with the four-wheel-drive package I have had to Chevy's before I got this ford am really miss my Chevy's right now this ford as one of the worst vehicles I have ever had it's a great-looking truck and it is very comfortable to drive it but it breaks down a least once a week it's got a good bit of power in the pools very good but it is very Hard to work on tight squeezes everywhere you work this would definitely be the last Ford I ever bye List of things I have had break on me in the past two months the truck has 240,000 miles on it and I have had driveshafts snap on me I've had Motor mounts break on me I've had the rear differential started leaking all of a sudden I have had so many problems with the exhaust manifolds leaking I've had to replace the valve covers I've had to replace spark plugs in the coral packs and then I drove the truck today and for some reason the thing is shaking really bad I'm not really sure why it's doing it I think the four-wheel-drive might be fixing to lock up but don't know other than that I really recommend getting a Chevy or a Toyota I would stay for away from ford And what's crazy is when I bought this ford I bought it six hours away from where I live but I drove it for six hours straight pool one of my Chevys back on a car trailer and I didn't have any problems out of the Ford the minute I get home I've had breakdowns ever cents

Bought this truck after I traded in my 2008 turbocharged Mazdaspeed 3 which was also a super fun car to drive and very fast. But this lightning is just a different kind of fun, different kind of power, and completely different kind of ride that I think everyone should experience at some point in their life.

I have had this truck for 6 years and have no problems with it, great truck, I use it all day for my job and the 4.6 triton v8 is good on gas mileage on the highway but crappy around daily neighborhood driving, and occasionally every now and then its good at going on the trails. One problem I've had was with a vacume hose that was pinched because it was dry rotted, so it made the truck lose power and die at stop lights, but once I found the problem, everything is all good... great truck, very dependable and reliable

2002 f150 5.4 200k this truck is good bought it with high miles its pretty fast but lack power when towing heavy things although the mpg is great for a 5.4 6000lbs truck around 17 mpg city and highway all highway i once did around 21-22 mpg real low cost maintenance so far brakes, battery, sparkplugs one bad COP front rotors are warped but their originals drove it 24 hours non stop just to refil and eat and had no problems drove it in mountains area and had no lack of power great truck overall could not ask for more now i want a mustang to cruise around

You can ask anyone that has owned a F150 and they will tell you that nothing compares. I have owned many cars, trucks, and vans over the years, but the F150 is by far the best one! My truck is 11 years old now and is in mint condition. I just do regular maintenance and the truck just never stops running. It is very reliable and easy to work on. I have used it as a daily commuter and the other day I decided to take it off roading and it handled the ruff terrain very well. Before I bought the truck, I drove my Dad's F150 one day while visiting and ever since that moment I have been in love.

My truck turned 11 years old this year and is still running great! My brother had this truck before me and ran it out of fuel several times so i had to replace the fuel pump. Other than that, just routine maintenance, spark plugs, and one spark plug coil. Truck has ENOUGH power seeing as i dont tow anything, and has never left me stranded, even after driving it 13 hours straight. All original suspension. 120k miles.

Bought this Supercrew new in the fall of 2002 for a great deal of $21900. They were making room for 2003 models. Had electronic console problem but fixed under warranty. Then later in years had recurrent problem with electronics, that local shops would keep replacing GEM to fix temporarily. Finally took it to dealer and they found a leak in the windshield seal that was allowing water into fuse box and GEM. Once that was fixed, no more issues!! Mechanically, AC, transmission always have worked great. Plan to keep on driving for years to come.

Bought when I turned 16 in 2008 with 67,000 miles on it, 3 years later have 122,000 with all scheduled maintenance. Front suspension is nearly gone, replaced slave cylinder at 71K, shorted plug wires on valve covers at 73K, replaced rear bumper mounts at 75K, cracked the lower manifold at 94K, 95K lost the throwout bearing, 104K had ECU problems, syncros in the tranny are going...poor engineering. Truck does not have any power for passing and barely gets 15 mpg on the highway. Engine is low on torque and unreliable. Don't think I'll ever buy another Ford after this one. Only used to get to and from high school and college and work.

I love this truck. Bought it used and it is my daily driver. Have done a couple of power upgrades along with routine maintenance and it is very fast. When loaded down or pulling it drives like a dream. Very comfortable and reliable. Only problem I have had with this truck is the sliding rear window latch broke. This truck reminds me of why I drive nothing but fords, Toyota who.

Bought it for about $30k. I've had it for 8 years and 205,000+ miles. Pulled horse trailers up to 7000#. Probably have put over 60k miles towing loads. Have had both the transmission (probably didn't need to do it) and rear end rebuilt. Replaced about 6 of the coil packs. Replaced the leather on the front seats. Replaced the front rotors 3 times. On the 4th set of tires. Total repair costs about $5k. Overall I've been very satisfied. Burns about 1.5 quarts of oil every 3000 miles. Never has left me high and dry except when a battery went dead. It's been a great truck for what I've asked of it.

We bought our truck new in april 2002,currently has 139,000 miles and still is running with the same clutch, and only recently changed the front brakes. Also had to change the drivers side tierod.Themost we have spent in fixing our truck is the clutch slave cylinder inside the bell housing. We've kept up on the oil changes every 3,000 miles, and tune- ups. This truck handles great, still looks good, and we'll never part with it.

This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. Very few minor defects are far outweighed by the overall integrity of the truck. I do not like rattles and squeaks and this truck has not one, inside or outside. The overall finish of the interior is excellent well designed, simple, stylish, and to the point.

I have to say that I LOVE this truck. When I first got it in 08' it had 32k miles on it. It now has 60k miles on it, and the only problem I have had is with the EGR Sensor. I replaced it twice and the second time I also changed the PCV valve, and so far SO good :D. I have hauled 1 ton in this truck and it hauled it with ease.. I haven't towed anything really worth mentioning.. but i did pull a jeep out of a ditch in winter, with NO trouble!! I am being completely honest, I really do love this truck.. Its the best truck I have driven and seen. I will have it forever! I really do LOVE Ford trucks..

I bought this truck with 107k on it. I love this truck! It's handsome, incredibly dependable, and comfortable. I had purchased one new (a 2003 model) almost identical to this one. I drove it for two years and traded it in on a HEMI Ram. I regretted that day ever since. After much searching, I found one just like my old one. Same color (white), same body style, sport package, same drivetrain (4.2 V6 and 5 Spd), same interior color. With 120k miles on it, it runs and drives just like my new one did. The guy I bought it from used it to pull heavy trailers, so I replaced the clutch because the old one was showing signs of wear. I love this truck!

Searched long and hard for this truck. I looked at the 2005 and was not fond of the looks and even less fond of the 2009 either! I found the color, red, the right options and low mileage by searching the internet endlessly. I put a K&N cold air intake on it, with helped with power and got some improvement on the mileage, not great, it is a 5.4 after all! Drove it from CA to FL and was very comfortable at the end of the day. Got 21mph one time going across Texas. Avg 19.5 most of the trip. Handled great in the snow of N. Arizona. Love my truck and will be keeping her a long time.

This truck has left me on the road 4 times now the last time was 2nd tranny I had dealer installed. I have been left on the road for 2 throttle position sensors as well. I have an oil burning issue also it uses about a litre each week. I have had bullit proof f150's before like the 1976, the 1984, and the 1999. I had the most success with the 1984 and 1976. I am going to Toyota I think next time. I have 100 000 miles plus on the 2002 and once the lease is up it is outta here... The heated seats and mirrors do not work and never have. Many plastic interior pieces are broken or not working. The drivers side door locks broken too now.

I read a lot of the reviews, some say it would be great if not for XXXX. I say it is lousey truck because: At 20K it needed a complete brake job, rotors, included and the seat plastic clips broke. At 40000, clutch went out. Mose said it was a old truck (at 4.5 year?). I have had others last over 200K. At 52K, brakes start acting up. Needed a new brake job, did the pads and turned the rotors. At just under 60K, Brakes are acting up again, and the shops says replacement or rotors is needed. At this rate the cost of repairs is over 1/2 the cost of the truck. Toyota here I come, let the usa auto go under, who needs the junk?? My 4th and last ford

Bought the truck in Sept. '07...love the looks and the custom paint scheme. Interior design is sweet, and durable at the same time. Dual buckets are the way to go, don't know why Ford redesigned it. Only two problems thus far; 1.) about six months back, it blew out the #4 plug, was a bear to repair/helicoil...but it's better and stronger then ever now. 2.) for about three months now the check engine light AND the gas cap light remain on, after replacing both sensors and a new gas cap...must have a slight evap leak that is driving me crazy to locate.

Absoulutely the worst truck I've owned, two transmissions and one transfer case. Interior seats are not comfortable. Sliding cupholder broke the week I bought it. I've had nothing but trouble. Even the blinkers work only when they want to. I've owned Chevys and Dodges and this is the worst. I've only owned it for a little over two years. I can only imagine what I would have done if it was new.

I have owned my 2002 Lightning since I bought it new in July, 2002. I would highly recommend this vehicle. It is powerful, tight, handles like a dream. Used 2002's are selling for $15,000 to $20,000. If you can find one in good shape, buy it! It's a terrific value. This is the fastest pick up on the road. After 6 1/2 years, I'm still in love with it and will never sell it.

Good daily driver or pull the race car to the track or a trip to Home Depot this is a great truck. For a small half ton it does the job. For serious big truck people this is not for you. This truck has some car characteristics. It's almost worthless and you can't help to love it.

I have the FX4 with the 4.6 and five speed manual transmission. We are the second owner, love the pickup. Had it for over two years and had no problems. It has 110,000 miles on it and will drive it until the wheels fall off. We pull a trailer with it and pulls just fine. Plan on putting dual exhaust on it and will get a little more power out of it. Love the FX4 package and the ability to get the five speed in it, has been just as reliable as all my Fords have been

I love this truck. Never left me on the side of the road. Everything still original, except for tires. Still has original battery and shocks even. Had a 100,000 mile tune up done recently, which cost a bit (included engine flush, transmission flush and coolant flush), but nothing needed replacement. I expected something to be worn or borderline, but it got a clean bill of health. I plan on passing it along to my daughter for her first vehicle and getting another newer model.

Bought the truck from Palmetto in Miami, with 20,000 miles on it, untitled, salesman's demo. We are very rough on interiors. (Kids, dogs, motorcycle dirt)and after 120,000 miles it is still in very good condition, no rips. The paint is still almost perfect and very shiny. The seats are very comfy for grown-ups and kids...full back seat. Back seats fold down, some storage behind seats. Good ride. One of the best vehicles we have ever owned.

I bought this truck new. In over 5 years, It needed brakes once, a ball joint, and a set of rear springs. The factory steel bumper needs a repaint. That's all the bad news. Now for the good news. On the highway the 4.2 liter gets 20mpg for real! It can tow a 5800lb trailer at 65mph and still get 12-13mpg! The truck has never let me down.

I finally got it. I've always wanted one and found my '02 at the Ford dealership. It only had 43k and in perfect condition. The performance is unreal. Gas mileage is ok for what's under the hood. I drove this truck from Florida to Ohio and averaged only 16 mpg. It was very comfortable and quiet. I towed a car back with it and lost 2 mpg averaging 13-14. I can't say enough about this truck. I really enjoy driving and owning it. Mine is red and completly stock. The best part is the blower whine. The truck handles like a sports car. Buy this truck. It is unreal. I always get comments and questions about it at the gas pump.

I bought this truck used about a year and a half ago. I plan on having it forever. I have had no major problems with it. I was either going to buy this truck or a similar used 2004 (new style) F-150 model, but I really like this style better. It feels/drives more like a truck (the 2004 for felt/drove more like an SUV to me) and also feel it is a stronger, more durable vehicle. If you are looking for a used truck and come across a 2002-2003 F-150, give it a try and you won't be disapointed. This is a truck that you will still see on the road in 10-20 years....something you couldn't say about a Dodge.

Bought new in November 2002. Generally still like the vehicle and like the styling better than the new F-150 except for the front end. Absolutely love how comfortable the vehicle is front and back, and the quality of the leather seats are very good and easy to maintain. Have had few problems except with the driver's side heated seat and the keyless entry system, both of which were repaired under warranty. The paint quality is excellent and there are still no rattles and squeaks after 4 1/2 years. The dash is starting to look dated now, especially when compared to the new models. Undercarriage has some rust which in my view is premature. Great power with the 5.4, but fuel economy is only OK.

The first 3 years the truck was a good truck. I use the truck for camping and to go a short distance to work. For the past year I have been getting water in the cab on the drivers side. I have tried to find where it is coming in at with no success. This year the ABS has died (the orange idiot light is on and ABS doesn't function). Haven't had time to investigate this yet to determine what the problem is. Three of the four doors are starting to bubble with rust at the base of the doors where the folds are at. The last issue is every so often the service engine soon light comes on. If it wasn't for these issues I would be really happy with the truck.

It has plenty of power, but bad on gas. I get 11-1/2 mpg while towing a 24ft travel trailer. Would love to have a little more torque for towing at 100kph without dropping a gear. Very comfortable and spacious up front.

I really loved this truck up until the transmission went out at 38,000 miles. Ford did not cover it and it cost thousands. The truck also has excessive piston slap and it has had its oil changed every 3k or less. I'm in the market for a Dodge now, Ford really needs to work on their quality.

I've driven Fords primarily for almost 20 years now after a bad experience with GM standing behind a Chevy lemon. I have for the past 10 years owned a pickup (2 Rangers and now the 150). This truck is all that I could hope for except of course for the fuel economy. If the economy doesn't go completely south or gas becomes extinct, this will be the last pickup I'll need. Driving comfort, dependability, durability low maintenance costs, hauling capacities and dealer customer service are all part of the package.

I bought this truck brand new and as I say I've had it since it was a baby. It has been a great truck. Of course I have given it it's proper maintenance and has really paid off. I have been a Ford Woman since I was able to be a Ford Girl at 18. I am now in the decision making of color for my new 2007 F250 diesel with that new engine. I believe I need to order it in November for shipment in February. It seem like it will again be a white with tan leather interior.

This has been a very bad purchase since day one. These trucks have a lot of major issues, including coil packs going out left and right every 20 to 35,000 miles, front wheel bearings going out every 25,000 miles, rear differential going out twice in 104,000 miles. This truck is not a heavy tower or abused off road, just very poor craftsmanship.

This F-150 has been one of the most enjoyable vehicles that I have ever owned. The truck is gray two toned and it does turn a lot of heads. I drive about 50/50 city vs hwy. The highway driving experience is very comfortable for myself and up to as many as 4 passengers. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding trips I've made was driving from Lafayette, LA. to Ada, OK. My mother and I left from Lafayette and picked up my aunt and uncle in Houston, Tx. From Houston we drove up to Oklahoma. I never one single complaint during the entire trip by either of the elderly family members.

That is what I think of this pick-up truck. I just hate that I paid so much hard earned money for such a poor vehicle. The gas mileage is the worst I have seen since I owned a ‘70 Chevy with a 454 engine. Now that had pick- up. This Ford is the worst riding. My ‘70 Chevy had air shocks with 50 series wide tires; watch out for bumps, it drove much better than the Ford ever could dream of. This Ford is so bad that my next vehicle may be from JAPAN. I never thought I would ever say that. It is no wonder the American makers of autos are having such trouble in today’s market.

Bought it used with 20,200 miles. No engine problems. Did have issues with parking brake setup. Mechanism froze up and brake shoes were toasted. Seems to be common problem with the rear disc brake/drum parking brake setup due to infrequent use of parking brake. Easy fix for $28 with parts from auto stores. Gas mileage is what you expect from full size truck - 15 city/18 highway.

My F150 XLT Supercab, 4.2L, 6 cylinder automatic currently has 83,000 miles on the odometer. At under $19,000 new, it is one of the lowest cost, well equipped, six passenger vehicles available. It has only had one problem with a failure of the coil assembly. It was relatively low cost to repair & did not leave me dead out on the road. We use it as our primary vehicle for our family of four. It enables to go where we want, when we want & bring whatever we want. I have been rear-ended twice. The structure held up well & suffered minimal damage in both accidents. I plan on keeping this truck for at least ten years. I would recommend it for anyone wanting reliable people & cargo space.

Second owner, bought the truck used with about 40,000 miles. Just what I wanted: V6, floor mats, ground clearance (for a 4x2). The V6 has lots of torque. Wish that first was the old "bull low" that the pickups used to have. Four wheel disks, chrome wheels are a nice dress up on an otherwise plain Jane truck.

We decided that 3.00/gallon gas was the limit and went to trade our F150 in. Ended up getting a used car for commuting, and keeping the truck. This is the absolute king of family vehicles. It saved our trip to Florida, while pulling a 27' camper with no strain. Gas mileage for a 4x4 with a 5.4 Triton is good, if you don't get carried away with its power and speed. Ride comfort and room are unparalleled, and reliability is a 'given' with Fords. Even with gas prices going out of control, we won't part with our Lariat! I'm shooting for 200,000+ miles before that thought comes around again.

The interior design of this truck is comfortable and well planned out for some one who uses the truck to travel in. I love to take long trips in it since it does save me money on fuel. I use roughly about $200 dollars to get from California to Texas and back to California. The suspension gives you a comfortable and quiet ride. All in all I give this truck a 9.8 out of 10.

Comfortable to drive on a long road trip, good looking, great on gas, and great audio system, this is the best combination in a family friendly truck. We can take our dogs & kids on a long distance highway trip and ride in comfort. Not to mention the wonderful extras, we can never get lost because our truck always tells us what direction we're going & the smooth ride lets the kids and dogs take their naps. When its time to do the weekend chores, the spacious bed gives us plenty of room to make a worthwhile trip to our local landfill! We love it & wouldn't trade it for anything ... except another FORD!

I had X plan and bought the truck because I saved $2500. The 5.4 triton is bad on gas mileage 12 to 15 mpg. When I put a 21 foot camper on it struggles on hills some. And gets very bad mileage; about 10 mpg. Will buy a GMC or a Dodge next time. They pull better. My 1994 GMC 1500 pulled my camper better than this Ford and got better mileage.

This truck gets 13-15 mpg empty. If you put a 21 foot camper behind it, it loses gas mileage and power. It struggles with a heavy load. but the quality is great! Need more power and much better mpg. The remote key should be able to unlock the doors when the truck is running.

Bought new July '02. Added step-up bars, factory bedliner and Class III tow package. Pulled a large trailer across Desert Southwest during July/August of 2003 with no overheating worries. Very slow to tow, couldn't exceed 55 mph fully loaded. Averaged about 8 mpg at that awful speed with 3 children riding in crewcab. Transferred towing duty to wife's 2003, 3/4 ton Suburban and all are much happier. The Supercrew is still rock-solid reliable, comfortable, and strong. I hope Ford can keep up the good work because the Dodges, Toyotas and Nissans are really coming on strong.

The interior is roomy, but doesn't grab you when you look at it. The truck rides well around town, yet still is very competent off road as well. This truck is a perfect example of why Ford has had the best selling trucks since the 70's.

I put on about 200- 290 miles a week on the vehicle, and I get about 12-13 miles a gallon. Now, I really baby it, but if you step on the gas, you can watch the fuel needle move. I spend a lot of time in my truck using it in my two businesses. It has to be comfortable, tough and still look good to make a good impression on my customers. My F150 does all that. the only thing i think could be better is the mileage. I get 15 to 17 mpg high way with a load and pulling a trailer, but in the beginning, I was getting 18 and 19 mpg. My truck is two years old, has over 70,000 miles on it and workw with me every day, but it still looks and handles great. I just drove it in Atlanta's 4th of July parade pulling a float and it was the best looking truck there!

Nice overall vehicle; fun to drive, looks good, decent power for 6-cylinder (mine's a manual trans), and not bad fuel economy - very important today! Seats could be a little more comfortable, but other than that, a great truck. Don't know how it performs towing; would probably have bought an 8-cylinder if I were using it in that capacity. Not much room in the cab for passengers, especially with a stick, but I drive alone 99% of the time, so not really an issue. Definately not a family-vehicle, but perfect for my use.

Supercrews are very nice. On the down-side, if you want to haul big things (like a few 2x4 or 4x8 sheet of anything) the bed is too short. Another downside -most of the Supercrews have the center console- pretty dumb, given that it takes away the ability to seat 6. The 4-door Japanese trucks feel small and ride like wagons. (And I'm not talkin' about station wagons) The Dodge has a great engine, but the finishing details lack. The same comments for the Chevrolet, but no great engine. For creature comforts, -Lariat. The big V-8 is a must. If you want gas- milage, may I suggest a Honda Insight? The Supercrew is hard to beat in any category.

I absolutely love my Lightning. It has the best of both worlds from the utility of a truck to the performance of a muscle car. The style and sound is fantastic. The truck is quicker than about 98% of all vehicles on the road. The supercharged engine is easy to modify if you are thinking about upping the performance factor. There are bolt on modifications, such as changing the supercharger pulley, air filter kit, and computer chip that will push the output from 380HP to upwards of 450HP.

Traded up 36 years, from a 1966 Chevy pickup to the 2002 Ford F150. Loved the old Chevy but wouldn't have traded for one a year newer. Ford has surpased GM many times over since the 60s as far as I'm concerned. Very pleased overall with the F150, style, performance and the feel of a very solid vehicle.

I have owned this Lightning since I bought it in February, 2002. I drive it nearly every day, and there has not been one moment that I have regretted purchasing this truck. It has plenty of power, good looks, and comfort. I have had people of all ages tell me what a good looking vehicle it is. My wife and I love to go on trips in it, and it is very comfortable for both the pilot and passenger. I also haul home maintenance supplies in it. It is the most fun to drive, best looking, and practical vehicle I have ever owned (including 1958 Austin Healey 100-6, 1959 Chevrolet Impala, 1970 Olds Cutlass W- 31, 1976 Toyota Celica, 1984 Porsche 924. I love this truck!

For an exclusive ride in one of the most common pickups, this is it. The leather interior smells, feels, looks great. wouldn't trade it for a different model. My only suggestion would be to up the performance level of the 5.4L to play with the HD's and SVT's.

Just ok. 5.4 engine still sluggish. I added dual exhaust and a K&N filter, it helped a little. Poor stereo, you think they could do better. The transmission modulater is terrible. It hangs up in gears or just sits in a big dead spot and nothing changes. The dealer "pinged" the unit but other than that T.S. I had to accelerate quickly to complete a merge manuever and almost got hit because the transmission just refused to shift down quickly. Ford has had problems with this for years and there is no excuse for this. I'm getting rid of the truck.

Drives great. I've got the 2WD 4.6L V8 and it could use a little more power. Of course it is a gas guzzler as all large trucks are. No complaints. My F- 150 had a dealer installed moonroof which was wired incorrectly and I had to bring it back to get that fixed and they didn't do it correctly and ended up wiring it wrong again and a couple of months later the windows went out. This was all due to the dealer wiring the moonroof incorrectly in the first place.

This review is brought to you by an owner of both a 2001 Chevy Silverado 4DR/4WD and a 2002 Ford F150 SCREW. I love my Ford more than my Chevy. However the Chevy is more comfortable the seats just feel better. The Chevy has better power however the Ford has a smoother Transmission. The Chevy drivers door molding began to fall apart 3 weeks into ownership i.e. the speaker fell out and the lock slide fell off. Pretty cheap design. The Ford has been great it only has 3800 miles on it since August it's my weekend Truck.

Excellent do-it-all vehicle. It is faster than literally 99% of the cars on the road which is really pretty fun. It is also very cool looking, especially the 20" chrome wheels and all black interior, and it is LOADED. I have every available option, of which there are only 5, heated seats, sunroof, CD changer, bed extender and sliding rear window. It comes with everything else already, Auto Climate, autor dim mirror etc etc. It is a great way to transport 4 full grown adults in absolute comfort and sporty style, and still go fast, and be able to use it for Home Depot runs or hauling toys as well.

This is an awesome truck. It was not what I originally was looking for ,but after a test drive- I was under her spell. The power at the tip of your toes is menacing. The handling is as good as a vette and so is the excelleration. Just ask the one that I passed. The SVT division at Ford has put all the other dealers on notice. Put up or shut up!! SVT has put up and in big way. And by the looks of the concept lightning they only have to compete with themselves.

I've had my 2WD XLT Supercrew 4.6L for three months and love it. I prefer the exterior 03 design vs. the new 04 look and with the 5yr/0.0% payment option I got a great deal on a truck that is built on a proven manufacturing platform. I suggest the captains chairs with its "grand canyon" center console, the 6 disc CD that loads easily and the bigger tires P255/70R (the standard size tire on the 2WD is to small for the wheel wells). I was impressed with the amount of options that come standard with the truck.

Excellent basic, full-size truck. Does exactly what it is designed to do, that is be a basic, large truck. With 255 size tires on 16 inch wheels it sits a little higher than I would like for ease of entry/exit. Tilt steering wheel would help a lot. V-6 engine is plenty for my use. I would like better gas mileage. Power mirrors, door locks, and windows would make the large cab easier to operate, but it is still a great basic full-size truck. Limited slip differential excellent on slick roads.

I also travel off the highway quite often.I spoke with employees of pipeline companies around the country because they also spend many hours off the highway. Most of the employees that I spoke to said that only Ford held up to the continual and dependable service reqired to do their job day in and day out. Two companies representives told me that their companies were getting rid of their Chev's.I have been completely happy with my Ford Truck.

Bought this truck and had it lowered 3" in the front and 4" in the back. I am handicapped so it makes it easier to get in & out of. The ride is still pretty decent. Had it custom pinstiped and nerf bars added. It is a looker! Some guy in a new chevy followed me down the street & kept giving eye up & down the truck. At the light I looked over and he gave me the thumbs up. How often does a chevy man do that?

I really like this truck. I have owned many trucks, including other Fords and different brands, and my feelings are that Ford has always given me a better sense of trust and solidarity than any other manufacturer. I am pleased with this truck. My previous trucks have always been big V8's and with this truck only having the 4.2L V6, I had a low level of concern that it would prove to be kind of weak, however it has never disappointed me. A solid truck that's eager go everyday. This one and I may spend many happy years together.

This has been a great family vehicle. My family several trips during the year and this truck fits the bill. The interior is comfortable and the truck is fun to drive, And we can carry a large amount of luggage with us in the back. The only trouble has been a defective battery at 11000 miles, which the dealer replaced and the fold down console on the front seat had to be replaced because the leather seperated from the console. It was covered by the warrenty. I have been very please with my truck.

This is the first Pick-up that I have ever owned. I have always loved the Ford Motor Company line of cars and trucks, but never really liked or needed a truck. I am in the military and I have a Muscle Car, so, of course you need to have something reliable and is capable of carrying parts to and from the car. In short, it has fulfilled all of my hopes and dreams up untill this point. It is the most comfortable truck I have ever been in, and it is quite a bit of fun to drive. The only complaint I have about it is the lack of a rear window defroster for the non-sliding window on the rear.

In my job I have driven dozens of Trucks. This truck is truely a delight to drive! Over the years I have found that Ford builds a quality truck. My truck gets great milage for the distances I travel. And; it provides me with a reliable transportation base for hauling the hundreds of lbs of rescue equipment to and from work each day. Quiet, comfort, reliability, hauling and milage. What more could you ask for?

This is the first pickup I have purchased. It rides extremely well for a large, four wheel drive vehicle! The interior is extremely durable, comfortable, and very appealing. It's a SuperCab ... but the rear front opening doors allow plenty of access to the roomy rear seats. The power moonroof, 6-CD changer, automatic climate control, opening rear windows, power adjustable pedals, and easy-to- open tailgate all make this truck an extreme joy to own & operate! Definetly recommend the F-150 King Ranch to anyone looking for luxury & utility in the same truck!!!

Had the opportunity to drive the truck for 10 miles before I was sold on the performance. The handeling for a truck was more then I expected after previous ownership of a 99 F150. The comfort, looks tell a lot about the connection of Ford & Harley Davidson. The super- charged engine is more then you need for a trip to the grocery store. I'm happy with it. The gas mileage depends on the driver. You can make the gas mileage run with the speedometer or you can take it easy but with those horses, it's a fun truck.

After spending the last 4 1/2 years without a pickup, it was time to retire the Jeep Cherokee (NEVER buy a Jeep). I bought the F-150 with the 5.4 litre Triton V-8 and absolutely love it! I pull a 5,000lb trailer about every other weekend in the summer, and this truck does it wonderfully. Most of my towing is high in the Colorado Rockies, and my normal driving is on the flat, eastern plains of Colorado. My F-150 does a wonderful job of both. Plenty of torque when I need it, with a smooth and comfortable ride. Gas mileage is typical for a full size 4x4. Growing up in ranch country, I can really appreciate a first class pickup, and this "fits the bill".

The most performance made pickup ever made is an extreme pleasure to own and drive. The engineering is outstanding, all the way from the engine, transmission, drive train & suspension. What a thrill to drive. Gauranted to raise your heart rate when you stomp down on the gas. Blow away Corvetts and Mustangs off the line.

I own the 4X4 Regular Cab SWB 4.6L V- 8, do not buy this truck unless you want to ride in the most uncomfortable, punishing seats ever installed in a vehicle. Overall build quality looks like it was made by high- school shop class students. Huge waste of money, buy anything but a Ford. Customer Care Center is a joke, they treat you like trash.

Not one flaw in the body or interior, 16 - 17 mpg city, 17-19 on the road. Slight delay on accelleration. This is because the hole for the air intake is to small. Put a Air Cleaning Kit on and the horse power goes up and no more delay. No change in gas mailage. Used Dura Shine instead of wax and it never looks dirty. (dark blue paint) Still looking for something wrong but haven't found it. Wouldn't you know it, the air conditioning is to cold my glasses fog up when I get out of the truck.

I have about 3000 miles on my new Lightning now. Before it, I owned a 2001 4X4 Extended cab. After test driving a used Lightning with no intention to buy, I had to have one. Sometimes I'll just test drive cars I hear about to see what I think. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong vehicle to just "test drive." Two weeks later I traded in the old 4X4 Extended cab for my Lighting. Performance is unbelievable. A truck should not be doing this. At night I drive around looking for a street race. By day I tow around my ATV. I gave up 4X4 (for snow) and Extended Cab space for this, and I don't regret my decision at all!

Ford's Lightning performs better than any truck should and doesn't make you feel guilty about it. It's a blast to drive and equally fun to just admire it's beautiful shape. It's hole in the armour lies in its outdated interior, which hasn't been updated in several years. Ford needs to consider making the dash more friendly while maintaining the intuitive functionality. Basically, the interior works, but isn't fun or very attractive at all (perhaps the gauges are attractive...), which just doesn't jive with the rest of the truck.

I would not trade my truck for anything, except for maybe a Porche or or somthing like that. There is nothing else on the road that does what these do, and there is so much customization that can be done. Ford definitely got this one right.

So I have a DEEP LOVE of big block FE engines! Ok, on with the LIGHTNING REVIEW.....all I can say is I would CRUSH all the other fords if it would get me one more day in the SVT LIGHTNING!!! Here in Texas we have a lot of truck owners, and when they see my shiny L drive by it sure turns heads. There are a lot of performance upgrades available, and it is easy to put the truck in the mid 11 sec 1/4mi times.

I have only had this truck for two months. So far it is flawless. Some of the other reviews I read said the gas milage was bad. I had a Dodge Dakoda with the small V8 before I got the Ford and it averaged 18 mpg. I have the large V8 in this one and I average 17 mpg. So I feel the mpg is good for a large pickup. I am very happy with the Ford F150 SuperCrew.

I compared all of the full size trucks on the market before I purchased my F150. I love this truck, but it's now in the shop because it developed some sort of electrical issue and left me stranded on the side of the road today. Other than that, this truck rides great, get's pretty decent mileage for a full size truck (18mpg in mixed driving), is squeak and rattle free, and was running perfectly prior to today. Assuming the electrical problem is a fluke, I would recommend this truck to anyone looking for a versatile, comfortable, full size truck.

Good power (especially at highway speed) from the supercharger. Steering feel is a bit too loose at faster speeds. Ride quality is good on most roads, but roads with "mogul" type bumps will cause suspension to travel too much. Overall, I enjoy the look and power. Also own a 2001 S-Crew 4x4 5.4L Lariat.

The Lightning is a fun vehicle to drive. Powerful, good handling, excellent braking, an overall A+ in performance. The exterior design is set apart from the other F series trucks with ground effects & bumper treatments. The interior is well laid out with gray suede & black leather. When the supercharger spins up, with it's distinctive whine, & you are pushed back into the seat it makes you smile & sometimes even laugh out loud. The Lightning is just plain fun to drive, period. PS: for well under a $1000, you can get an aftermarket chip, pulley & filter combo that will put your HP well over 400, & torque 500+! This will drop your 1/4 mile times into the low-mid 12's. I have been investigating these trucks for over 3 years and the people that I've talked with agree these super trucks are unique and not for the average person. Average as in someone looking for a everyday driver/commuter type vehicle. These trucks don't get great gas milage, but that's the only negative thing about this truck. If you're looking for unreal performance, power, and stylish comfort and don't care about gas milage, do it!

I drive an F150 for work and have been impressed by the solid feel and comfort compared to smaller trucks I have driven. So when I saw the King Ranch version, I knew this was my next vehicle. The leather in this truck is great, very soft and comfortable. The rest of the truck is well built and have had no ptroblems at all. After three weeks there is no reason to take it to the dealer for the normal build defects.

We actually bought our supercrew June of 2000. We will be buying another supercrew. Our kids like to take the truck more than our Ford Taurus, they say it's more comfortable (meaning the back seat).

This is by far the most incredible vehicle I have had the pleasure of owning. I have had one other supercrew and other F150s but this is the cream of the crop. When the supercharger whines to life, it is better than sex!!! It is great pulling up beside a new Dodge or Chevy and watching the other drivers' jaw hit the floor. Ford definately hit a homerun with this one.

better than my old F 150

for a six this F150 has pretty decent performance for my needs and the fuel economy has been acceptable too. It's been reliable and easy to handle in city traffic. I'd recommend it for anyone who needs a light duty truck.

Well built, well designed. Fit and finish superb. Quiet and comfortable, even at highway speeds and long distances that I drive each day. Even the small V-8 has plenty of power; coupled with the 3.55LS it will tow up to 6600 lbs w/ an automatic. Mileage ranges from 16.5 to 19 mixed, mostly highway. Review done at 12,000 miles after 4 mos. of ownership.

After seeing Dodge and Chevy, Ford looks more like a urban (city) riding truck than dodge or chevy. Great Acceleration compared to 3.9L Dodge.

This vehicle replaced a '93 Ranger that I also bought new. Love the 5.4 L V-8, it pulls our 24 ft Airstream camper with reserve plenty of reserve power. I like the aggressive styling of the FX4 package. i.e., the grille and 17" rims. Very comfortable when traveling, the 60/40 bench seating better than the captain's chairs, IMHO.

Great truck with excellant power and styling. Kicks my friends Z71 Chevy with a 350 and gets better gas milage. Have had a few quality issues with the 4x4 transfer case, but Ford has been very reasonable about replacement and customer satisfaction. If I were to buy another I would get the super crew.

Although I've only owned for 4 weeks I have been very satisifed with my new F-150 Super Crew. Comfort is outstanding. Rear seating is as comfortable at the front seats. Ride is smooth for a 4 wheel drive. Truck bed is short, but with the tailgate down it still handles 4x8 sheets of plywood. Gas mileage is as to be expected with the 5.4 engine, towing capacity is exceptional.

great truck. I can haul 5 people plus all our stuff and dogs in the back. I purchased a cap which really helps with storage. I have over 47,000 miles and it still runs great. Great ride. First brake job was very expensive. Over 500.00. It seems as though parts are very expensive. Power moonroof was a great option.Go with the 17" wheels, tires.Price shop. I saved over 4,000 dollars by shopping at 7 different dealers until I got the best price.

had truck for 3 months. was in shop almost every 3 weeks. For a new truck, this is unacceptable by any measure. Ford says does live up to all of the accronyms. turned truck back in and bought a toyota. Toyota builds a FAR superior Truck in quality. I'd pay more for the quality and sacrafice the options any day

Actually I have a 98 F-150 but everything is the same on the 2002's I like the looks of my Ford F-150 but I'm experiencing what Ford calls piston slap and Ford would not do anything about it. Learn your lesson from me and don't buy a truck for its looks because when I start it up in the morning it sure sounds like a ugly truck. Do your research to see if the problem was fixed.

I have a little over 7000 miles on my Super Crew with no vists to the dealer except for regular maintenance. It's a pleasure to drive in town and on the highway. Due to the step in height, I would recommend some sort of running board.

There is no vehicle out on the planet that can match performance, safety, and work capacity of a Lightning. Sure, the there are faster cars out there, but lets see a Camaro, Corvette, M3, M5 come out of a racetrack and haul a 5000lb. boat. Good luck.

The 5.4 engine pulls my horse trailer around like it's wasn't even there. I did put a 3" lift and 32.8" tall tires on it with a K&N filter charger system, under drive pullies, and a Jet power module. That combonation of add on's worked great and the ride and handling of this new suspension compaired to the TTB is great! I have been very pleased with this truck on and off the road.

My company take-home vehicle is a 2001 Ford Supercrew 4x4 Lariat, fully loaded including moon roof and offroad package. The ride, power, versatility and refinement makes my fully loaded 2001 Dodge Quadcab 4x4 SLTplus seem crude and cheaply built. GM has better engines (IMO) but build quality and materials are not up to Ford either and have styling (my 2000 Tahoe a testament to that).

My ford dealership rejected the truck from the factory. Misbuilt. Factory workers must have fallen asleep on the job the day my truck was made. A running board was missing, sunroof was misaligned, not to mention a couple other cockeyed trim pieces. Dealer said problem with the sunroof was the roof not the mechanism. The roof wasn't square! So the truck is being returned to the factory in Kansas City. Give the factory workers some coffee!
