I have no problems at all with this vehicle except the fact I had to have the transmission rebuilt @ 85000 the fuel mileage is better than 17 miles per gallon on highway I get about 21 to 22 miles per gallon on the highway and if you don't believe me try it I drove from my house to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and back which is about three and a half hours to 4 hours round trip and still had over half a tank of gas

love my chevy truck!

I bought my burb 6 years ago with 71000 miles on it, It now has 216000 and still going strong, never have had any major problems with it besides regular maintenance. Always starts and has never left me stranded, except for a flat tire, but thats not the car. This is my second burb and inbetween the two I owned and expedition, complained the whole time I owned the car. Got this burb and have never looked back. Passanger space is great and I have had 7 grown adults in the car comfortably for long journey's. Gas milage is about 13, but that is the only complaint I have. Its safe, I can see through the windows of the car in front of me. I would reccommend this truck to anyone

Love it

I bought my 4WD 'burban new and finally gave it to the kids at 142,000 miles. Only thing that ever failed was the fuel pump ($600). Very reliable and got over 17mpg on freeway! Extremely comfortable to drive and handled like a luxury car. My other 4WD owning friends referred to it as "the pillow barge". I wish i still had it.

We purchased out Burban NEW and 240k miles she still looks like the day we drove it out of the showroom. I have to replace the fuel pump next weekend and that's it. Over the years, we (KNOCK ON WOOD) have had minimal problems even while pulling our 2007 27 K-Z Travel Trailer!

Bought our 'burb with 85,747 miles. We were nervous about buying one with over 75k, but now I'd buy one with 150k on it... Previously we had a 2005 dodge ram 3500 long bed, we needed more room for the kids and this was the first obvious option. After owning this one I'll definitely buy another. It pulls our 23' travel trailer with ease and the whole family is comfortable. NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS whatsoever, and 161,982 miles later we've done nothing more than maintenance and tires / brakes. the MOST DEPENDABLE VEHICLE I'VE EVER HAD!!

Great for a big family!!

I bought this truck last year because we where expecting a new baby and needed more room. I LOVE this truck. It drives great and you can barely hear the engine running it is sooo quiet. I have had no big problems with it. Its great for hauling stuff too. I had to move my husbands 800 series bobcat and it pulled it so nicely. I could barely tell I was hauling it.

I love my Suburban. With 80,000 miles on it, it has cost me less in maintenance than my Honda scooter with 4k. Be prepared for the gas bill, but be pleasantly surprised by the lack of maintenance cost. I do regular oil changes, have changed tires twice, and just got my first brake job. I love my 'burban. It's about to haul me, my wife and our two dogs on a three week camping trip across the country, and I have no worries about it's performance. Buy American! You wont be disappointed!!!

This is my second Suburban. I rolled the first one. We bought this one with 113,000 miles on it and it still looks new. There is hardly any wear in the leather at all and the carpet still looks great. Maybe they didn't have kids? Have not had any problems yet. Love the comfort and ride. Much quieter than my 99'.

Bought 1 year old with 27k miles. Drives like a dream, even in extreme snow/blizzard. Problem is reliability. Had AC replace at 50k, transmission at 60k, transmission at 90k, transmission at 110k. Never towed anything, just issues with transmission. With complaints said, we feel ultra safe traveling, even in extreme blizzards when other cars are spinning off the road. Put Yokohama AT/S tires on it, and can go anywhere in sun/rain/snow.

This has been a great truck for us over the years, and I want to thank Chevy for building it. It has had a few mechanical issues, (replaced starter, air conditioning unit), but by and large we are still pleased after 7 years, 131,000miles. My wife drives it and loves it. She doesn't look forward to a new car, in fact, content to drive this one until it dies.

Bought our Suburban used with 57k at a Mercedes dealership for my family. Truck started up and sounded like it was brand new. Driving down the freeway is smooth! Spacious interior, able to fit the stroller and a portable playpen plus anything else we need to bring with us. Both my kids are in carseats so we have them in the 2nd row captain's chairs and we still have the 3rd row for 3 more passengers when needed!

I bought my 'Burb last October from my husband's sister. I previously drove a '96 Buick Roadmaster. The Buick got 30 mpg and the Burb gets 15-18. I had to get up off the road because I was tired of the other car's headlights in my eyes. I am 5-2". I now can see ahead of the cars in front of me to see what's happening in traffic. The comfort is great with the heated leather seats and in the winter, the pushbutton auto 4WD is great! This truck feels like a car and handles solid. No trouble yet with repairs and although it has 260,000km it still feels tight. Love the room and attention to the details for passengers in the back. Loved the Buick, but love this even more. Suburban forever!

We are so happy we purchased this SUV. We have always been Honda/Toyota buyers. We previously owned a Honda Odyssey and had some safety concerns with our children in the third row, heads up against the back glass, not to mention lack of storage in the minivan once you use the third row. We also needed 4WD for our winters. We looked at Toyota Sequoia, but heard great things from other families about the suburban. For the price, it was a no brainer. We absolutely love it. Repairs are very inexpensive and we have been amazed at the reliablility and the luxurious interior. For the size of the car, gas mileage has not been as bad as we thought - we did'nt get much better with our minivan.

We bought this vehicle with the birth of our first child (three children later) and it has been all we have needed as a family vehicle. I refuse to do the mini-van even though gas mileage would be better but, I wouldn't change our decision for a second. 80k miles later and it still starts and runs like the first day we bought it. Just keep up with regular maintance and I plan to drive it till it dies.

So I bought this used Suburban about 3 months ago with about 66000 miles on it. I was looking forward to many years, but it only lasted 3 months. A lady ran a red light, and I hit her Tahoe in the side at 55 MPH. I can't say enough about this truck. I hit the other lady so hard that one of my headlights was stuck in the side of her car, yet I was not hurt at all. I was able to walk around right after the accident. Sure I was sore the next week from the force of the impact, but considering how hard the impact was I am amazed at how my lack of injury. I will definately be buying another one. I know that I am safe in this vehicle. Thanks GM!

Well, this is Suburban number 3 for my family and will probably be the last one I buy. We love having the room for our son, the dogs, and all our gear, but this is a money pit. Gas mileage is 14.2 running 70-75mph, replaced fuel pump at 85,000. Between 85,000 and 100,000 we have spent $3200 in repairs. Add in the tune-up, brake flush, radiator flush and we are over $3500. The Suburban is probably one of the best vehicles in terms of meeting the needs of our family (pulling a boat, hunting, traveling, etc), but the fact that I can't get 100,000 miles out of a vehicle without a pile full of repairs is insane. Unless you can trade every 3 years on new, don't buy a Suburban.

I have had this vehicle since new and only had a couple of problems. The I- Shaft for the steering (GM knows of this problem and repaired it), 2 master cylinders (covered under extended warranty). Drives rock solid, in snow, water, dry pavement. Pulls boat trailer and race trailer with little problem. Bigger motor would have been better choice and a Duramax Diesel would be better.

I was disappointed to buy the 2WD but price range dictated. Didn't really want anything this large, but had twins on the way, and it was the only vehicle large enough to fit my double- stroller without it toppling out on me. With 4 older kids, space for cargo was definitely a concern, too. Bought vehicle used with about 40K. Added 17" offroad tires, really made a difference in handling. Put over 50K on it in the year that I owned it, and the only issue I had was the a/c went out at about 110K miles. Loved the ride and the roominess. Several TX to FL trips were comfortable, even with 6 kids along! Will always buy Suburbans if I can afford it!

I first went to the Suburban from a minivan to help reduce back pain and it has saved me lots of Doctor bills. I used to be in pain after long drives but I drove from Boston to Orlando without a break and it was a dream. This is like driving around in your living room from both a comfort and space standpoint. It has tremendous power but will still get almost 19MPG if you go easy on the acceleration. I wish auto critics would end the foreign car bias and give credit where credit is due. Coming up on 100K and only a window motor for problems is true quality design. And considering 80K on the original tires it has been well below most vehicles for maintenance costs.

I have been owning Subs for about 10 years now. I am not sure I will own one again though. I am so tired of all the mechanical issues I have had to go through with them. I am not hard on my vehicles, change oil every 2500 miles, do all regular preventative maintence (tune up at 85,000 instead of 100,000 miles). I currently have stuck just about $3000 into this vehicle in the past 6 months. It now has 89,000 miles on it and I have done the following: fuel pump ($1100), transmission flush and filer change ($240), left front wheel bearing ($412), anti-lock brake module ($975), and other misc items that needed fixing. This might be my last Suburban I ever own.

This is everything you would expect it to be. Gas mileage for this much weight and this much torque is the best in its class. We typically do 19 to 20 mpg on a road trip and have 4x4. Our son is 5 hours away at college and I would not drive anything else to see him outside of a luxury sedan. This is a traveling machine and will tow when needed.

I drive Ford trucks at work and this SUV blows Ford out of the water! I love it! Chevy's got me hooked. My F250 needs about 4 lanes to do a u-turn. My Burb needs like a two lane road and my outside tire will barely be off the road. It is so much more comfortable than the Fords. We test drove Expeditions and the Burb was no comparison

The 2002 Z71 Suburban is great for carrying several people and all their stuff. The third seat is reasonable for adults of medium height. Plenty of power for hill climbing, even when fully loaded with people, camping gear and bicycles on the hitch rack. Never runs hot. Good air conditioning, heater, seat heater, stereo, fornt powerseats. Very comfortable backseat for passengers of all ages and heights.

We drive a lot. First Suburban we've owned, and won't be the last. Avg 19 mpg hwy and 16 city in over 100,000 miles. The only mechanical failure was the catalytic converter stopped up after 80,000. Took 3 weeks for the experts to figure the problem. If it were not for that, I'd give this truck all 10's. Acres of space, smooth ride. We owned 2 Windstar vans previously and this truck is far better in looks, driveablility, and maintainence. The vans were better on gas though.

I am a fairly young driver(21) and I am hard on my vehicles, previously owning a Scion xB and a Honda S2000. This domestic has truly surprised me on how reliable and amazing to drive. I have taken my truck through miles and miles of snow and on a regular basis a good 2 feet of water (Through a part of a river close to home). I have yet to have any major service, only an A/C belt and oil/fluids that I can change myself. I go on trips almost every weekend with at least 6 people each time. I love the room and with a programmer this thing is like a giant rocket.

We bought the vehicle because of 4 kids and needed more legroom than our GMC Safari. Kids never complain about legroom (even with 2 teenagers). The vehicle is great on long trips. It is a very comfortable ride. We have not really had any mechanical issues, but have had the radio system replaced once (the digital clock kept resetting to 1:00) but the dealer was great about the warranty work. I like the 4- wheel ABS and OnStar.

This truck has the z71 suspension, towing package, interior upgrades. I have not driven a full sized SUV that has driving this well. The rear locking differential is a wonderful feature to augment 4 wheel performance. A heavy vehicle for steep descents on ice. It’s imperative to know how to drive a vehicle in icy conditions when traversing this much weight. Comfort level is very high on and off road. Fuel usage is not overcome by the great power band of the motor - it still hurts to fill it up. Small price for the safety of my passengers. This vehicle is not to be compared to car based SUV's. Don't lift the suspension of this truck it becomes top heavy and loses its solid stance.

We upgrade to the Suburban from a Dodge Ram due to our expanding family. We first test drove the Tahoe and then the Suburban. The Tahoe felt like it had too much sway, the Suburban was more "with the road". We were also sold on the massive amount of room behind the 3rd seat. After the warranty expired we discovered that the intermitent wipers were not working correctly and the intermediate steering arm needs to be replaced. The steering arm was said to be a common problem by our dealership, but one we would have to pay for. Same with the wipers. The only other concern I have is the side of the driver's seat is starting to tear.

Great car for the family. Good power. My wife thought it would be hard to drive, but quickly fell in love with it. She really doesn't have any trouble parking or driving it. Tows my boat very well too!

I have owned many General Motors vehicles in the past and have had better than average results. I purchased the Suburban for the seating capacity and the towing capability. It is a very comfortable vehicle and pulls very well. That's the good part. To make a long story short, this truck has been in the shop 12 times in less than 2 years for various items. Some examples are 3x for replacment of steering linkage, 4x for air conditioner repair, and the latest (for which GM will lose my lifetime business) the rearend differential went out. For those not familiar with trucks, this is a part that just doesnt break. (The dealer even said so) Still GM refused to fix. Im now looking at Nissan.

Runs Fine / Does what it is supposed to.

I needed a large vehicle that had space to carry a large load and could pull a trailer. The Suburban worked out just fine - no problems, strong motor, very reliable, decent ride for a large SUV and pretty good handling.

I have never been a GM fan. I owned an Expedition prior to buying the Suburban. The 'Burb is by far the better vehicle. I have had a great experience with this vehicle. Runs great, spacious, comfortable, drives well. I have 4 growing kids and there is plenty of room.

This my second Suburban, having owned a 1999 LT. The bucket seats in the center row make getting in and out of the back seat very easy, especially for children. Third row folds and locks into place. We take it on long trips and are quite comfortable. Rides great for a truck.

I have had nothing but problems with my suburban.... from the breaks squeaking (which was never resolved, gmac's answer to that was 'sorry, it's just how the mettallic break pads work - there's nothing we can do'), to fluid leaks (steering and air conditioning)to having the seats warped- all within only two years of owning it! I will never purchase a chevy again and I suggest you don't either - at least not the suburban

We bought our Sub after a minivan and station wagon. Nothing compares to it. It has great room to fit the family very comfortably. I love this truck. We bought it with 12k miles on it and have had no major problems. Fuel economy is decent considering the mass you are driving. We get 16-17 mpg on open road, and 11-12 around town. It is very capable in wintry weather, very stable and confidence inspiring. Auto 4x4 works great.

If I can keep it out of the shop I may start to like it. The air conditioner has broke twice with the same problem....turns on full blast and none of the controls will turn it off (even if you turn the vehicle off it still runs). CD player broker after only using it 10 minutes. The brakes squeal most of the time and the dealer says that is normal. The Firestone tires make a whine noise and the dealer said I must rotate tires after every OIL CHANGE (yeah right) to prevent cupping. The power windows squeak on roll down. The transmission slips and the dealer said it's within specs. Other than the above problems the LT Sub is great (sarcasm).
