This is a very nice car. Getting from point A-B hasn't been an issue for me. Very reliable & fun-to-drive. Haven't had any mechanical problems and absolutely love the durability of this car. Has tight/firm Handling & is almost "go-kart" like. Great on gas and has effortless style points. I chose the 6-speed manual to better my gas consumption and wouldn't recommend anything else(especially if you're looking to enhance performance). I have (ashy)grey cloth interior that has held nicely for 13 years now. All electrical units have lasted and honestly haven't had a bad experience with the car yet. All-together a great, fun, and exciting car to drive down the highway. 2 thumbs up!

I love this car!!!!

I bought my 2000 celica gt-s with 150xxx miles on it, and it still drives great!! Even though its 12 years old, it looks super sporty and I get compliments on it all the time. Its so fun to drive especially on curvy roads. Gets great excelleration and I love the fact that is a 6 speed. Excellent reliability.. nothing has gone wrong with it whatsoever!!

I am sorry they don't make these cars anymore. I just totaled mine after 202,000 miles. This car never had any major issues except the sunroof started leaking. Very reliable. I hate my new car and wish I could buy a new celica.

Ever since I bought this car it has been nothing but trouble catalytic converter died 3 days after I got it dealership claimed no knowledge about issue, had to replace o2 sensors 3 times in 1 month after that and it had a bad coil which led to another expensive repair it eats spark plugs and has to have premium ones for some reason parts for gt are more expensive than gts and now the computer is having issues I am selling asap

I bought this car used with 140K miles and put another 60K on it in 2 years. The car is extremely reliable and has had no mechanical issues. Sadly, a man in a Ford F150 broad sided us at 70 mph and totaled my nice little red car. He had to be towed and we loaded up our loose and knocked off parts in the hatch and kept driving. This car is so much fun to drive on twisty roads because its handling allows the car to scream through tight curves. Another bonus is its consistent 32 mpg. It has been as high as 36 mpg (ideal conditions @ 60 mph). It's been a great car and I hate to see it go.

Great looking car even at 100k+ miles engine is strong for 1.8L 140 hp i4 the interior looks modern and is well designed and built look out for factory exhaust though catalytic converters are a big issue with these cars its all over Internet forums and with that comes O2 sensors as well at $200+ a sensor make sure your intake stays clean or it will start all these problems and it gets nasty easy causing many preventable headaches it also needs premium plugs even the gt not just gts or it will burn through them fast over all though great car not many complaints after I fixed the exhaust issues and cleaned intake no major issues when cat dies it can leave you stuck just use caution when buying

i bought this car needing a lot of work 10 years and 166k on her when i got her needed struts a cat. tires brakes and belts alternator and battery replaced for preventative as well but toyotas are tanks so doing all this work in my opinion made economical sense i got a good deal on it (2k less than others around here) and spent 1.7k on what it needed (battery and alternator not needed just preventative) so i got a good deal now that its fixed it's a beast i put flowmaster exhaust when cat. was put on it sounds great but i don't know who neglected their maintenance on this car i wanna kick there behind (for the kids reading) bc its a great car and i'm babying her back 2 life lucas inoil gas tranny and kn filter

I bought my dark blue 2000 Toyota celica brand new in 2000. I was lucky to find a promotional car with no sunroof. This is the only way my 6foot 5 inch frame would fit. I fit perfectly. Plenty of leg, head and shoulder room. One of the few modern Japanese small cars I can fit in. This car was completely trouble free for the first 80,000 miles. I just changed and flushed the fluids and replaced the stock tires every 50,000 miles. Replaced the breaks and spark plugs every 100,000 miles. At 200,000 miles I replaced the struts and the clutch. The only problem I have had has been a check engine light that came on at 80k. That light would come and go over the next 100k then never come on again.

Loved!

I bought this car last year to have a little extra fun driving a stick. It doesn't disappoint. It's a solid little poor man sports car with great gas mileage, decent pick up, and great handling. It's the best car I have ever owned! I bought it with 89k and the only thing wrong so far is the passenger side window motor isn't working. I highly recommend this car for a medium to small sized person. I get stares all the time.

I bought this car with 108,000 and now has 140,000. And let me tell you, nothing needed to be replaced! I just chose to replace the brakes and spark plugs right when I bought it. I love this car! Looks awesome, gets awesome gas mileage (35 MPG highway) They could give it a little more horses but its quick regardless weighing just over a ton. Also great winter car, just throw a sand bag in the trunk and your good to go.

I've had my 2000 celica since 2006 when I bought it used and it has been amazing. I have had almost no problems with it even though I bought the car with 80,000 miles. Only thing that has happened is the distributor went out at about 100,000 mi, and one of my CV joints went out at the same time( which I highly recommend fixing as soon as it goes out, the car used to turn on its own with the broken one) Besides that though nothing seem to be going wrong my check engine light is one at 150,000 but still runs as smooth and powerful as the day I got it.(most likely O2 sensors)

I've had my Celica for 4 1/2 years and this is by far the best of the 5 cars I've owned. It's really comfortable, even on long trips, holds TONS of stuff in the trunk, is sporty, good looking and reliable. I'm at about 111,000 miles, and although I've had to put some money into shocks, belts, etc. lately, it's nothing that I didn't have to expect to do for a car of this age. I've had 2 mechanics tell me that I should easily get to 250k miles if not more without major problems, and that in their opinion, this is one of the most reliable cars you can own. The ONLY car I would ever trade this in for is a newer Celica...I'm planning on driving this baby til it turns to dust.

When i found my celica, it wasn't even for sale officially. They were going to sell it to an auction because it was just a trade-in, with about 125,000 miles on it. I fell in love with it instantly and bought it anyway. It was the best, and most dependable car i have ever owned. The only thing i had to get done was oil changes, and was amazing on gas. i recently got in an accident, someone T-boned my drivers side. her front end was demolished, and i didn't even get a bruise. by this time there was about 155,00 miles on it..and still running absolutely perfect. I'm looking around for another celica right now, and there's no possibility that i will be purchasing anything other!

LOVE my Celica!!!

It has unbelievable handling, awesome looks, and a one of a kind design! This car turns A LOT of heads! VERY reliable, gas efficient, and easy to fall in love with!

Bought mine with 116,000 miles on it. It now has 169,000. Replaced tires, clutch, changed coolant, had it tuned up and had all 4 struts replaced (not out of necessity, just because I wanted to). It's been running perfect ever since. I get (30 mpg) even when I drive it hard and have fun. Check engine light came on about a year ago, I replaced the Cat. Converter, light still stays on, but the car runs fine. I keep waiting for it to give me a sign it's ready to be traded, but I believe I'll be waiting a while for this to happen.

Not too bad...

I bought this car used with TONZ on miles. 160,000. They said it had been rebuilt. NOPE. Car ran great with miles, even put up with me building it, turbocharging it, and street racing, all the way up to 160mph. These cars motors are great, they make a little clatter cause of the VVTI-L, but otherwise a great handling vehicle. Try taking a corner at 30mph, drop a low gear and floor it out of the corner. Whew.. the car will make you smile. AMAZING performance with turbo. Enough said. Great little car, not quite fast enough acceleration to be a race car, but it did okay with builds. The car has 170,000 miles on it today, and still stands up and shouts with the best. I give it a 8 out of 10.

I've had my Red 2000 Toyota Celica GT for 2 years and have had only few repairs done to it. (Tire router, Tie rod, O2 sensor) and it runs amazingly. The Celica does not have the strongest engine, seeing it's only a 1.8L engine with an inline 4, but it does have a surprisingly fast acceleration due to it's light-weight design. My Celica has been turning heads everywhere I go, and that's half the fun of driving isn't it? She hugs turns with amazing grip. I can go 45mph on a highway ramp without any body roll! I've kept her in amazing condition, and babied her for as long as I've had her. I highly recommend buying a Celica if your looking for an inexpensive sports car.

I have owned this car for almost a decade now. I've had it stolen, the rims were stolen while I was in Basic Training, and crashed it at least 5 times (once for over 10,000 dollars worth of damage, lol) I still love this car. I finally bought it three years ago, and am now finally finishing a lot of the projects I thought, my meager budget could handle (stereo, performance parts, etc.). It was rough on clutches, 2 in the last 100,000 miles, or maybe I was rough on clutches. Great brakes, only changed twice. Tires normally go out about every two years, but you can't have everything. (I blame the stopping power.) I'm having trouble finding what to replace.

This is what a sport compact SHOULD BE!!

I purchased this car with 60,000 miles. This car is truly amazing. I have a fully loaded GT-S in red and it is by far the best car I have owned (out of 6). The steering is tight and precise, the shifter engaged beautifully and the handling is amazing. It isn't the quickest car but it is ultra lightweight and when the VVTL-i kicks in at 6200 rpm the thing really comes alive. I am 5' 11" and the car fits me like a glove. Hatchback is very useful and holds a lot of cargo with the rear seats down. Never a single problem since I've owned it. This is the ultimate Sports Compact!

I have owned my celica for almost a year now with no complaints. The look of the car is like no other almost like an exotic look. Performance is great but only after 6200 rpm when the "lift" hits as Toyota calls it with its variable valve timing. Handling is great even better when you put aftermarket springs in the bring the car a little lower.

The GTS models are simply the best... quick, reliable, bullet-proof, great gas mileage, you name it. I have over 120,000 miles on this car and it runs and drives like new. Handles like it is on rails (mine is lowered just a bit), awesome and easy to modulate brakes, tight steering. The stock 6 speaker stereo is excellent, with surprising bass. The only thing that has gone wrong with this car was my own fault... missed a shift at 8000 rpms (third to 2nd instead of 4th) and bent all the exhaust valves. Fixed it and she has never complained. I get 32-33mpg combined (city and highway), and I can run 87 octane gas without knocking (with just a little power loss). Best car I have ever owned.

Love it!

I have wanted this car since high school (graduate of 03) and finally bought one in 2007. Had only 24k on it so practically new. I have lots of other drivers look my way. People always compliment that the style looks new, most people assume it is a new model car, not knowing production was stopped in 05. I will keep it until it rusts from under me!!! Despite the frigid Iowa weather last year, it started fairly easily before work. Needs more power, men especially will want to race me, only for me to act like I am receiving a phone call from someone right when it turns green. Tricky, tricky!

I was shamed by my sister into replacing my gas guzzling Jeep Grand Cherokee for my new daily commute when I moved in with her. I missed the noise and drama of my old car, but began to appreciate the precise handling and economy, after choosing it for it's safety rating. I tend to have a lead foot, so it helped me enjoy driving with finesse and agility. Keep away from the z rated tires (too noisy) and learn how not to bottom out, and it will serve you well. I really learned to love it.

What can I say. This vehicle is the best I have owned and the best that I have driven. I purchased my 2000 Celica GT with 46000 miles and have done no maintenance other than front pads and rotors, oil changes and transmission gear lubricant. The car now has 96500 miles and the addition of higher quality spark plugs, intake, and a performance muffler. I have to say that I disagree that this car is a better car than others for teens as I have personally reached 137mph with 500rpm to spare before redline. After 4500 rpm this thing is a rocket and with the simple addition of a less restrictive intake it gets better. Hands down one of the best for reliability, performance and comfort.

I purchased this car used in 2005 with about 52,000 on the ticker and it was in reasonable shape at the time. After some finesse on my part and a new set of wheels and tires (mine were out of round and the tires were wrecked due to bad alignment, it really started to come along. Besides some maintenance like a new fuel filter, belt tensioner and serpentine, and new lift gate shocks; the car is dead nuts reliable. The gas mileage in mine is good but I see only an average of about 25-26 and 28-30 on the highway. With the black leather interior it is HOT HOT in the Texas sun but the A/C does a great job of cooling you down and keeping comfortable. I am happy and will drive into the ground!

Bought this car for my 17 year old daughter. 128K and runs like new, no leaks and interior is in top condition. Never owned a toyota but I'd have to say this car is great. Awesome gas mileage. Not too powerful hopefully it will prevent speeding tickets for a teen. An added huge exhaust and cold air intake did bump the horsepower. Great car! Recommend to all parents looking to purchase a first car. I drove the Saturn ION, Cavalier, and Cobalt before purchasing. This one with high mileage beat them in looks, performance, ride and insurance cost. Highly recommend.

The thing burns through the oil. If you don't supplement it, immediately it wears down the seals and eventually will blow your engine. The thing burns through tires like crazy too. My engine has blown..but I'm not opposed to trying again with another. I'll just be extra careful about the oil! Also, don't try putting anyone above or below the age of 8 in the back seat. Carseats don't fit well and neither do legs.

I have had a few minor hiccups owning this car but overall it's been an enjoyable experience. I haven't had any major mechanical malfunctions since I purchased it. The car isn't the fastest on the market obviously but it's quick and gets good gas mileage. It has a unique look as well which gets attention even though it doesn't have the power to back it up.

One of the first GTS buyers. Love the 6sp manual. Unbeatable handling/brakes in class. Could use more torque. Great gas mileage. Visibility out back not great, takes some getting used to. Ride is very good considering the outstanding handling. No mechanical issues, have only had to change oil, fluids and tires for 80k miles. Can't beat Toyota reliability.

This is really a wonderful car, the best and most reliable that I have ever owned. I still have the original brakes! I routinely get 26-28 MPG city, and 30 highway, but that's at 80- 85, where the car wants to cruise. The only thing that I miss is a limited slip differential, as when the power comes on, its hard to avoid wheelspin in 1st and second, expecially in the tight turns. Still looks great, too. I really don't want to sell yet . . .

I never have driven such an amazing fun car. I have never had an problems with my 2000 Celica other than regular maintainance issues. It now has 212000 miles on it and still runs like new. And in the snow its the greatest car to drive. There is nothing negative I could say about the Celica, its a great fun car to drive

Love it

I've got this car as sort of a graduation gift from my parents when I was looking on the dealer used car lot with my dad. I feel in love with it at first sight and still do dearly love my celica. The strengths in this car (handling, braking, looks, style) are hard to beat in any other comparable car. Unfortunately it does have its weaknesses: Torque, horsepower, huge blind spots) Also to add: They stopped making it after the 2005 year. Scions are the replacements but I just wish they rejuvenated the Celica for 2006 like they did the Eclipse.

This is by far the best car that I have ever owned - the reliability is superb, the economy is excellent and the design is fantastic. The car is comfortable and all instrumentation is easy to reach and use. We bought this car new 5 years ago and have experienced no mechanical problems - it is made to go a lot of miles cheaply, plus it is very fun to drive. The handling is comparable to more expensive cars, which provides a lot of satisfaction. It almost seems like nothing on this car will ever break. Insurance is also inexpensive. Highly recommended - mine is not for sale, but you can find another used one.

I call him Sherman Tank as he ranks #1 in crash test ratings for sports cars in his division. Got rearended a week after purchase. I bought b/c I had long drives home from work and wanted to have fun while being stuck in a car. It's a "get noticed" fire engine red car and for all it's looks, it runs beautifully if you take care of it. I unfortunately bought it used and they did not disclose that the air intake and filter were installed by previous owner and now I have to find places to clean my high performance filter instead of just replacing normals ones. Overall - it rocks!!! I will keep until I buy a newer version!

From the moment I test drove this car I knew I had to have it. It handles like no car I have ever driven before. Fast, sleek and so much fun to drive. In fact, I don't think I was ready for just how quick this car goes (4 accidents in this car.. just 1 in all cars previous). I would love to keep driving it forever, but since my insurance has skyrocketed because of speeding tickets and accidents I will probably end up getting something more "practical". But I don't think I'll ever find another car I enjoyed as much as this one. Thanks Toyota! :)

I bought this car used with 82K miles on it. It drives like new, and never ceases to amaze me with its grip on the road. It is practically as if it were moving on rails, point it where you like, and it hugs the road while making the turn. Add that to Toyota reliability, and the combo is hard to beat. The automatic transmission is adequate for my practical needs, but for spirited driving, I would have preferred having a manual. The car has plenty of get up and go, but I somehow miss the vrooom of the lower gears that I could have got out of the 140HP engine (which is pretty dang good when you combine it with the light and small car that it is) with a stick.

love the car, but when you have something break or need maintenance it is really expensive. The air conditioning pump just suddenly failed, so the car would not start... $1,800 ouchhhhhhhhh (this is however, after 4.5 years of owning the car). Last year the serpentine belt and tensioner needed to be replaced, this was $576. I cannot bring it to anywhere but the toyota dealership for an oil change and maintenance because the last time I did the splash guard that goes over the bottom of the car was not put back on properly and I ended up dragging it down a major expressway. Previous oil changes always took 4 guys to do figure it out!!! Maintenance is at $300-$450 every $15,000 miles

I have owned this car since new, body #251. This has been an exceptional car with the only mechanical problem being a belt tensioner that squeals a bit on cold wet days (Toyota has a Service Bulletin, and I should have had this replaced under warranty). This car feels so tightly put together, I honestly think I'll have it for another decade. Its economical on gas and insurance but delivers real sports car fun. Handling and braking are exceptional (corvette territory). Acceleration could be better but 0-60 in the low 7 sec range is just fine. Sixth gear on a long highway trip is a relaxing idle at 80mph. Highly stable even at triple digit speeds (you'll never hit top end... 155mph)

My 2000 Celica now has 93,700 miles and it still drives/rides like it's brand new. It has had absolutely no problems whatsoever. For the money, it cannot be beat. The Celica combines good looks, good performance, great gas mileage and spectacular reliability. Few cars can offer what the Celica offers for the price. I have no plans to get rid of this car until it falls down in the road, which may take many more years. I couldn't be more happy with a car than I am with this one. Highly recommended!

I have had 0 problems with it (which is shocking for a first year model run). It gets great gas mileage, is fun to drive, it even handles well in the snow ... you just can't beat it for the price. 2000 GTS-Auto - this car should NEVER have an automatic, extra weight and 4 gears combined with a very low torque equal a poor accelertor. 0-60 in 10.2 seconds, not as quick as a loaner Echo I had (9.8 sec). Very reliable, 25 mpg (60% highway) - unfortunately premium fuel. This car needs something to improve low end torque and should drop the automatic. The auto provides no benefit, except to wives that won't drive manual - E-shift is a stupid gimmick. The 6K rpm valve lift change over too close to the 7800 red line. It's the only thing providing a brief hint of acceleration. Road Noise is high (improved slightly by changing tire bran

I owned a used '87 Celica, then bought a new 2000 Celica four years ago. I still love my car, and get lots of compliments on it. Reliability is superb, handling is awesome, it's fun to drive, yet comfortable, and it looks really nice. In addition to some comsmetic upgrades, I have upgraded the intake, exhaust, shifter, wheels/tires, and added a front strut-tower brace to make it even more fun to drive. People who complain about blind-spots need to adjust their side-view mirrors properly; true, it doesn't have the wide-open expanses of glass that some cars have, so it takes some getting used to, but I have no blind-spots.

I purchased the car from Poway Toyota last September 2003, which makes this car just 7 months old. I have already installed Strut Tower Braces on the front upper and lower, and on the rear, Titanium Shifters, race pedals, and an Injen Short Ram Air Intake which added 15 more horses on my stock 143 horses. The car is beautifully designed, and I planned to keep it that way except probably for a 19'AXIS Hagen wheels on a Pirelli PZero Tires and APR wide-body kit. And yes, I also replaced that ugly stock FM Antenna that Toyota had on all Celicas with a rubber mounter high-flex high performance racing antenna.

My 2000 GT-S has a little over 40,000 miles on it, and I'm still lovin' it. The car looks great and is one of the best-handling FWD cars out there. Buyers should be aware that the engine on the GT-S can be a little finicky. Like most Japanense sport coupes, you have to rev quite high for substantial power. The benefits are power on- demand while retaining excellent gas mileage(30+).

I had the check engine light come on once, but that was because a repair shop forgot to put radiator fluid back in my new radiator. The paint is TERRIBLE. Mine is red and is speckled white on the hood. Also, at a long stop (like a drive-thru) I get kind of a whistle from my back brakes. This is just a quirk I suppose and no one has ever heard of this before. Other than that, it's holding up wonderfully. I'm just now having to replace my front brakes.

I love the ride and the handling of the 2000, but it lacks substantially in acceleration. I would not be able to keep up with some of the other imports if it wasnt for some of my upgrades. Have had no problems with it, with the exception of a head light burned out at 500 miles (under warranty) and the driver side window came off track at 1500 miles (also under warranty). I would recommend a toyota to anybody, just this car is not for all. It is on the small side and low to the ground and can become a problem getting in and out of it. Also the factory tires are junk and wore out (I don't get on the car) and had to be replaced at 32,000 miles.

Pretty good, considering I always used to dump my Fords at 50,000 miles because that's when they started costing an arm and leg to maintain. I have had my car for 3 years now and I absolutely adore it. It hasn't been in the shop for repairs once. I am a fairly petite person so it suits me perfectly. All the buttons and controls are within arms reach and it feels like being wrapped in an airplane cockpit. I can zip around town and go around corners with ease. The stock stereo doesn't sound half bad, either. My only complaint, like everyone else, is that the interior scratches easily, especially where the seatbelt hits the door. You'd think they would have done something about that. All in all it's a great car and I would definitely buy another Toyota.

Mostly Good...

I got my Auto Celica GT from my dad, supposedly for my work (i got fired 3 days after i got the celica) I really do like the overall style and reliablity. What sucks though is the POWER! more specifically, the torque. I guess what hurts in my case is the automatic and GT model. I really wish they had tossed in a turbo or something... i actually had a choice between my celica and another one on the used car lot... it was a red GTS manual with lots of upgrades...WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!

This car is my baby!!! I knew this would be my last sporty car before having children and being confined to a min-van or SUV and I'm glad this is the one I chose. The exterior design is so neat. It attracts a lot of attention. Even stock, this car cruises!! It is a sports car though, so there are problems. I need to crack the sun room so my husband's head doesn't hit the roof, and it has the worst blind spots (next to my friend's MR2).

Nice car - quick but not fast enough. Handles perfect, shifting is good. Ride is comfortable - better than RSX and quieter. Low road and engine noise. Mileage is ~27 mixed - I'm not a calm driver tho. View of blind spot and rear view is terrible. Especially with the spoiler in the way. Plastic interior damages very easily. I don't mind the look - but scratches/gouges too much.

This is my second Toyota (I had a 94 pickup previously). I was looking for a car and never really liked the style of the Celica but once I test drove it I knew it was mine. The exterior design rapidly grew on me! This car has nice acceleration, seats, sound system, and man "it turns like it's on rails" (what my neighbor said as he test drove it). Country roads are a blast! It hasn't had to have anything done to it but an oil change and new rims. New rims please!! Stock ones are hitious.

I bought this car because I wanted a car to keep for ten years! At 24K, I had to replace fourth and fifth gears. At least it was still under warranty! I drive hard, but never beyond 5500 RPMs. I also had to replace the fan blower just recently. The interior is cheap plastic that you can scratch very easily. Toyota cut too many corners when they designed this car. I wouldn't buy this car or any Toyota again.

If u like go karting, u will love this the Celica! After 3 yrs of ownership at 36500 miles currently, I've enjoyed every second in this little rocket. It's a real ZOOM ZOOM experience every time! Steering is quick and precise, cornering is firm and confident, braking is responsive, straight line acceleration is a blast when VVTLi kicks in at 6000rpm and all the way to 8200rpm redline! The only problems I had was the infamous squeaky belt tensioner and a peeling moonroof. They were all covered under warranty.

Quick and dependable, Ive driven this car alot of miles (53,500) and in most if not all driving situations. The performance is what sold me the car in the first place. Its cornering is superb, with a little bit of a loose feel when you get towards 'the edge'. It can punch a hole through freeway packs with great accelaration from 60-90, nimble and precise steering, and small footprint. Had a couple 18-hour stints in the seat, and stayed comfortable. As far as dependability, though, Ive done little more than change the oil every 3 or 4k miles, and it still hums and drives like new.

I hope you like service department!!!!!

So far I have had the moonroof, driver and passenger seats, motor, clutch, headlamp, assembly,alternator(2 times),airbox assembly, the full fuel system and the belt tensoner pully. becuase of this I will never buy a Toyota again.good luck to all that have them.

I traded in a new 99 Cougar for this car. And, oh, what a difference. The Celica is the first manual I've owned (not driven though). I've had the car now for almost 2 years and loved every minute of it. Real fun to drive, handles like a go-kart. The car also looks great! I've added the TRD groud effects package (now called the Action Package). The interior is laid out like a cockpit. 30,000 miles now and no problems what-so-ever. I'm even on the original brake pads. Great car, I would highly recomend it.

I am about a week away from turning in my 2000 Celica. My overall experience is that I loved the looks and the handling but the acceleration has been left on the roadside. The longer and the more I have driven it the slower it seems to be. At this point forget pulling out into to traffic- you'll get run over by the time your up to speed (even using tiptronic mode). It has to "warm up" for about 15 mins before it performs the way you want it. Especially in the winter or when it is hot and humid out. Great car but NEEDS more power to keep up with the looks. I would definitely get a manual if I got another one.

I've been driving my Celica for over two years now. It's been a very reliable piece of transportation. I'm somewhat disappointed in the high rev'ing powerband. Even in the "sport" tiptronic mode, I find that it has minimal power to move across intersections or through traffic. Once the engine reaches full "boil" performance is better. Interior and exterior fit and finish have held up well over the last 2.5 years. It requires Premium grade fuel, so expect to pay out the $1.62+ at the pump.

My first brand new car and it has been all I expected. This is one car where the payments do not become a burden because you are having so much fun getting wherever you have to go. The aftermarket is good and getting better. Some available stuff: Custom exhaust, body kits (beyond "action package"), short shifters, headers.... well, everything but a turbo or surpercharger (but coming soon).

Two weeks ago, I was driving a '97 corolla. It is slow and ugly and lacks the decent luxury features (intermitent wiper, didn't even come with a tape player - only radio, etc). Last weekend, my dad gave me a Celica. The car is a joy to drive. The only bad things about the car is the torque numbers and the lack of a rear seat. What's good? Everything else.

Purchased this car exactly one year ago used with only 3,000 miles. It is the GTS model with the 6 speed manual. I love the looks both inside and out. The hatchback is a very useful feature not found on many cars. Handling is superb and steering precise. But the O.E.M. tires are not all season and wear very fast. Performance is great along with fuel economy. Shifter is smooth most of time. Stereo is remarkably good with great bass! Had no problems yet.

Going from a 1999 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro, to a 2000 Jeep Wrangler SE, then to the 2000 Celica GTS brings lessons learned in car types, engineering, and style. In a nutshell, the Celica GTS blends 80% Luxury, 90% Performance, 75% Utility, and 95% Economy into one good looking package! Only complaint: Toyota engineered the Celica GTS to travel at either 65 or 75, but not 70 MPH on highway roads. At about 3100 RPM, the exhaust howls, making a 6 hour trip rather tiring. City driving with a mix of highway travel brings roughly 27 miles per gallon at the pump. Much better than my 21 in the A4 and 16.5 in the Wrangler.

The 7th gen Celica is certainly a welcome change from the previous model. Following the recent trend, new high-revving, powerful, yet efficient (excellent fuel economy!)engines have made this car a blast. My GT is pretty quick, but the Celica's selling point has never been it's speed alone - it's the handling! This car handles like a go cart! What's great is that you get all of this with Toyota's typical reliability and quality attributes.

I have owned my celica for a little over a year now. My daily round-trip commute is 45 miles. I live up in Northwest Arkansas where 90% of the backroads are twisty small mountains. This car is awesome for that type of driving. It has power when kept in the meaty part of the rpm-band, and it feels like it's apart of the road when driven to such extremes.

The 2000 Toyota Celica delivers in the sports category of coupes under $30,000. Unlike it's predecessor, this car has been designed with performance as the primary focus. Both the GT and GTS trim deliver stout acceleration and power- combined with lightness and near neutal handling. Remember, the GT is only a mere 300lbs heavier than the featherweight MR2 Spyder.
