Iam the proud owner of a 1999 crown Victoria, base model. it has 147,000 miles on it and still running strong! ive only had to do basic matin. ive done some mods like dual exsaust,MSD coils, and a K&N air filter. this car is fast, great handling for a fullsize 4 door car. gets awesome MPG on highway for a fullsize car. its also one of best build considering its a BODY ON FRAME car. no uni-body crap here! I would recommend this car to anybody looking for a safe, reiliable, good fuel economy car.

I bought a 99 with only 86k miles. It's white and looks like a lot of highway patrol cars. It drives like a sporty tank and I still managed over 18 mpg on 90 mph road trip. I really like this car and think it will be a good starter car for my two sons in a few years. Definitely a great value. With needed repairs, I only have $3400 in it and can expect to drive it for quite some time. Good bye car payments.

I've had my crown vic for about 6 years now and it is a nice comfortable car to drive. I have never gotten the mileage some are boasting about here, I do about 50/50 city highway never any traffic at 4 am when I go to work. During the summer months I get about 250 miles to a full tank of gas. If I do all highway it might get 300 miles/tank. If I were to do it again I would opt for a newer model with the rack and pinion steering because the antiquated system on these cars wear out parts quickly (ball joints, tie rods, etc.) I've gone through 2 sets of brakes since I've bought it so no complaints there. It has decent power but is no mustang. Had to change the manifold and the coils, big $

An amazing car, fun to drive and stylish in a more classy sense. Unimpressive, but understandable gas mileage. Mine is a decommissioned cop car and has been beaten on, handles the beating unbelievably. Five-star reliability. Had accidents NO DENTS, the damage to the other car is astounding though. It's a 2 ton battlecruiser with great handling. My recent hobby is this car. I'm very impressed. A solid car. I improved my gas mileage with water4gas(tm) and a smart chip.

I have always owned Crown Vics, and that will never change. This Crown has 292000 miles on it, and still runs like it's brand new. Never had to anything to it, and still doesn't need anything. I wouldn't have an LX, but the Interceptors have it all.

The "cop car", as my friends call it, has had only one minor repair (idle air control valve $200) in the nine years I've owned it (original owner; 84k miles as of 10/2008), excluding basic maintenance, tires, batteries, and fluids. Not the best car I've owned (that honor goes to my 77 Pont Bonneville, bought used), but I'd buy it, again, if I could (Ford no longer makes it available to the public, although its upscale, sister car, the Mercury Grand Marquis is similar).

The 1999 Crown Victora is an amazing vehicle when purchased brand new. The rating on a new Police Interceptor model would be very good to excellent in all catagories, however when individuals including myself purchase these used police interceptors the opinions may not be totally accurate, mostly we are evaluating the current condition. Notwithstanding, my Crown Vic has 99,000 miles, impressive power, being white with dark wheels, honeycomb grille and spotlight its appearance is recognizable. Interior in very good condition, altho somewhat plain. It should be noted that for a vehicle this size and weight it has a sport car feel and ride. Overall rating for this particular 99 Crown Vic B+

Purchased Crown Vic in 2/08, $2700. Crown Vic has very good handling. I installed extra reflectors that are well placed, interceptor emblems, converted to honeycomb grille, impressive looking vehicle. With the spotlight, dark wheels and recognizable style, people tend to move out of the way or even better stay away. Also installed Goodyear touring type tires, ride is significantly smoother. Performance is very good but seems to shift into overdrive at a low rpm, however push the pedal and the Crown Vic has impressive power for a heavy vehicle. Interior design is basic but with the added center console it is fine. Even though the Vic is a 99 it retains the appearance of newer vehicles,

The first thing that attracted me to this car was that it was a used police interceptor. I soon fell in love with the smooth ride and the way it drove. Hardly any problems with it, I have maybe replaced under $500 worth of parts in it. It was racking up around 120,000 when I hit a tree. I walked away fine from that accident, because my car took all the force. If that was a smaller car, I would be in the hospital or dead. I love this car so much, and even though I can't drive it because it's smashed in, it still starts!

I purchased my Crown Vic early in 2008. I enjoy the ride and handling is very good. This is a nice looking car with just enough style mixed with plenty of performance. It seems that every where I go people are always looking over. It's appearance is striking. This car has plenty of room inside and the truck is spacious. Driver's seat should be more supportive especially when driving aggressively. When I purchased Vic it had the very high rated tires. The ride was very stiff so I immediately installed new 225x60 Goodyear touring type tires, the ride improved tremendously. Even though they are not rated the performance is virtually the same, still handles very good.

I purchased a pre-owned P71 Police Ed., Crown Vic and have never been happier! Anyway, this car is very solid and easy to self service, engine compartment is nicely layed out- great for self fixers. The car has a lot of pep, really great handling, fast braking, can easily go super fast and has pleasent featuers-- need to mention that the trunk is hugh. I am a EMT/firefighter and need plenty of room for both people and cargo. Ride is very comfortable-- w/secure feeling, outside noise is almost eliminated but the engine has a nice pur when bookin it! Handles like a champ!

The only drawback that I can see with this crown victoria is the trunk space. It is definately too small an area to place much luggage or items that you purchase on shopping trips. (i.e.) you can't put a fold up wheel chair in the trunk.

I bought my 99 with low low mileage. We have put almost 50,000 miles on it with only a brake rotor going bad. It is a great car, I hope they never drop it like the rumors that have been thrown around. GM threw away the LeSabre; 30 mpg full size car for another small bucket seat four passenger car like everything else on the street and road. I am getting sick of medium size cars with no room for head or body.

This is my first and last Ford vehicle. I like the car but it has cost me $9000 in repairs over the last 14 months. The plastic intake manifold cracked 1 month out of extended warranty and Ford corporation would not help whatsoever. I thought I had done my research on this car but perhaps mine is a lemon. I have had numerous electrical problems, replaced many coils. Brake jobs are quite frequent. The fenders have rusted through. There has been a high speed vibration that even Ford cannot figure out. I am absolutely disgusted with the repairs and the cost of repairs on this. You have just pushed another die hard American car lover to swing over to Japanese. Ford...your time is running out!

I find that the Crown Vic is pretty dependable. It's had a few minor problems. Just recently I had the intake manifold replaced for "free"; there was a settlement with Ford about the intake having possible cracks because it came out with an intake that could crack. I've had to replace my windshield wiper motor twice within like 2 years and had air conditioner problems; that's about all the problems I've had out of mine. My Crown Vic gets run hard, it doesn't get babied around; and it still is running pretty darn good.

This is the best value hands down either new or used. Dealer often discounts to small car price range for the Crown Victoria and sister car, the Grand Marquis. Used examples are hard to locate in some markets as owners often drive them to well over 200,000 miles! This one is my 4th! The 1st.was totaled, then rebuilt and sold @ 229,000 miles. The 2nd was given to a relative and is healthy @ 155,000 miles. My 3rd will go to 300,000 per my mechanic barring any accidents. I love this car!

Riding a cab, the cab driver was mad. His boss wanted to turn, 1 million miles. It had one transmission replaced 500k miles and the cab has never had a wrench on it except for the tran 986k miles. 1 million miles no engine work 1 tranmission. It had doubled any Gm product line and 3-4 times the Japan cabs. I wonder why Ford does not run add like, 1 million mile club with no engine work. The ride in the 986,000 cab was smooth and no noise. Note the next cab had 990,000 but two tranmissions. Quite a contest. I did buy a diffent model Lincoln Cartier, hope my grand kids, finish the test. You can not tell how fast its going

Bulletproof engine that pulls hard under throttle, even at 70MPH! Smooth comfortable ride. 25MPG at 70MPH+ on the highway, with the air on...try that with anything else that is a V-8!! God Bless Big US built V-8 engines powering rear wheel drives!! You will not find a better deal, in terms of bang for the buck, power, ride and MPG than a used Crown Vic. This car had 25,000 miles on in in 6/02, stickered for $26,000, looked damn near brand new, and we paid $10,300 out the door.

Plows through the New England snow and handles cross country trips with ease. Takes on the heat of the south without blinking (although, it is a good idea to upgrade your alternator to the one in the police units, the stock one is pretty weak).

I bought this car from a private seller with 61,400 miles on it in EXC shape. It had all options other than traction control and the trip computer. It has simply been one of the finest cars I have ever had the opportunity to drive. It rides great, has been stone cold reliable, gets decent milage for a large car (25MPG with cruise set at 60MPH), TONS of room, and it has plenty of power for passing, hills, and towing. I would not hesitate to buy another Crown Vic at all based on my experience with this car. It is a solid BUY.

cheapest V8 full sized car I could afford. Two real weak components and they are the plastic resin intake manifold which tends to crack leaving you stranded. Other MAJOR weakness is the 4R70W transmission which has "torque converter shudder". This shudder is hard to explain but when it does occur (trust me it will occur after you've accumulated 20k per tranny fluid change) it is the most irritating thing going. I've had my tranny replaced under waranty and it still occurs but am living with this problem until I can squeeze another 3 years out of it until I dump the car. Next time I'll go with Honda or Toyota.
