This is the Most Fun best Driving car I Every Had. I Bought 1999 Buick regal GS brand spanking new. It was still on the truck when i called the dealership. Took it for a test drive and the supercharger kicked in, WOW. The Leather seats never ripped, radio, windows ,ac and all the power never stopped working. I only ran Mobil 1 oil and Trans fluid. After 200,000 we had some transmission work but after 248,000 the engine just quit. But up till then it still got 28 mph on the highway to work. After 16 years this has been the Best Ever, only bad was the Premium Gas.

I bought this car when it had 55,000 miles I finally had to junk it at 130,000 miles I had to put at least $8,000 into it, What a lemon.

Good but had some problems with it!

its a great car, lots of power, traction control turns on and off on it- 300,000. Rusty on the bottom end badly, dash light showing mileage and miles went out - 280k -300k, replaced transmission 200k, only since it was beat to death. Had a rim get rusty on the inside bead- chrome rims and it would start to leak all the time. Them are the only problems ive had car is hard as a rock.

The car for people who like cars.

Alright, so, i have had this car for around a year and you know what?.... i wouldn't trade it for the world! it has had it's share of problems, not gonna lie. Infact, i have to spring for a new transmission at 200,000(km) because mine is destroyed. 2 windows don't work, the dash will sometimes go dark during night driving and i can see my speed or anything, it needs new front shocks and a muffler. But, this car stills rids good despite all this, it has never let me down and never left me stranded. I still get great gas mileage(car says 28 MPG in 25/75 city/hwy driving!) and great power output. and once i put a new transmission in, i know it will be great, just the way General Motors made it

I bought this car with only 19k miles on it. In three years time, I have had to replace almost every single engine part. The cup holder pulled off in my hand. The rear mirror leaked the auto-darkening stuff so you couldn't see out of it at all. The visors broke off. The gas gauge broke. The low tire & service engine lights have been on for 2 years regardless of all of the work that has been done. The heat and A/C went out. One window will only roll down halfway. The interior portion of the doors are separating from the exterior - which is severely rusting. This car is a piece of junk. It costs me about $2000 a year to keep it running. I am going to buy a foreign car as soon as I can.

I think this car has proven to be one of the best cars of the past decade. There are some things I wish had been designed differently but all in all, this car has been a gem. I have about 145K miles on it, and have had a repair or two. This is my third Buick and won't be my last.

She's just about past her prime. She has 230k miles on her, we drive 25k a year. It hurts to take her off the road but she's worked long and hard. Never failed to start, even at 3 am on the coldest winter day. This year has been tough on her, I've sunk close to $3k into her, ac compressor, tie rods, brakes, mass air flow, a blower motor, and a few other little things. Her rack just went and the trannie lines are leaking so it's time to let go. I did have to replace the trannie a few years ago at about 150k miles or so. In the last 10 years, I've replaced the battery once, maybe 2 starters and an alternator.. My mechanic swears the engine on these cars will never die.

We have had our Regal for 10 years and it just rolled over 200,000. We have driven it on many driving vacations and got as good as 29 mpg on those trips. This is our 2nd Regal. The first one we had for about 8 years and it had about 250,000 miles on it. Very good product! I'm just sorry that they don't make the Regal anymore. I see that it is a big seller in China or Japan though so maybe it will make it's way back to the US one day. The problems we have had are minimal, nothing to do with the operation of the vehicle.

I bought this car new in 1999 mainly because I liked the design. We ordered the LSE model instead of the GS because I did not want a sunroof. Wow, I loved this car so much that we still have it. I have had almost no problems with it. In fact, I know it is time to buy a new car, but my LSE is running so well I can't justify it. I had all the exterior scratches touched up last year so the body looks new! I hope Buick comes out with a new luxury car in 2010!

I love my Buick Regal, I took a lot of grief for it when I purchased it in 2002 - 0nly 24 years old at the time my friends thought I was crazy to purchase a "grandma car". This was the best decision I ever made, I will keep this car forever. I've just reached 100,000 miles.

I brought this car when it had 20,000 miles and its now 160020. Everything fell apart. Transmission, window powers, radio, rear mirror, power seat, and many more. The car was mainly highway and drove all over USA and Canada. I have loved and enjoy this car but I'm suprised in about 2 months range, everything fell apart! It's sitting on my driveway and it's a junk car now. I was hoping it would last till 300k but it's a Buick. Buick does not last long time period! This car is fun but if past about 150k, get rid of it!

Want a new car but can't let go.

Other reviews are pretty on mark, great car. Except little electronic things like windows with 125,000 miles and counting nothing but tires, brakes have cost me. I do notice some jerking with shifting so may need some transmission work, but in optional performance shift no jerking. Highway mpg's around 29-30. Making up for my occasional immature actions at stop lights to let my kids know their old mom is still cool!

I have owned this car for almost 9 years and have put over 200,000 miles on it. The only thing that has broke is the multifunction stalk (turn signal, etc). The car is extremely comfortable to drive if you are over 6 ft. However, it does make the back seat very hard to use. Fuel economy is decent. I get around 28 on the highway and around 22 on hilly rural roads. I would recommend this car to anyone, it is the greatest car ever made. After this car hits 300k, I'm going to look for a low mileage 2003 or 2004 Regal to be my next car.

My mother bought me a 99 Regal as a high school graduation present and OMG, this car is awesome! It has everything, power, looks and most importantly reliability. People automatically assume that just because its a Buick that old people drive them and there is nothing much under the hood, false, and I only have the LS, the GS must be sweet! When I got the car (03/06) it was 119,000 miles on it, and now in 12/07 I have 132,000 miles on it. No problems at all! People say that American cars aren't that dependable, with regular mileage they are! My only problem with the car is the gas mileage but then again I am an aggressive driver; I mean you gotta be especially here in Michigan.

I had my Regal for five years. One of the best cars I have ever owned. Very comfortable and very reliabale. It is a gas and go. However, I do perventive maintenance on the car. Changing oil every 3000 miles etc. I love all the features. The interior still looks new. I will buy another Regal. I can't say enough about the car. I love it! The car still runs great!

I hate this car. I bought the car because it was more affordable and had very low miles. I have always been wary of buying American cars, but the junk I bought off the side of the road seemed to hold up pretty well for only paying 4-500 for them. This car has had more problems in 1 year than all of my other cars put together. Rear main shaft seal, torque converter, head gaskets, the temperature control unit, gauge cluster, headlights going off for no reason...to make it easy, I paid 9k for the car and have already put 3k into it and now it needs another 1000 to pass inspection. This car is junk.

I bought this car because I thought that it would last a long time. Boy was I wrong. I bought the car used at a GM dealer and it had about 16,000 miles on it. I started to have isues with the transmission just before the warranty ran out (36000) miles. To make a long story short I replaced a transmission solenoid, rack and pinion steering, and fuel pump at my expense (at various times after the warranty ran out). The headlights started getting hazey at about 60,000 miles by the time I sold the car they were almost opaque. The power rear window regulator went bad and it was going to cost $328 to buy the part. No wonder GM is in such bad shape, I won't be buying any more GM cars.

A car for the Regal.

I love my Buick! I have owned it for 7 years and it has low mileage and runs like it's new. This car has so much power. It doesn't seem like it by looking at it. the interior design is conservative, and so is the exterior design but with a sporty look to it. Unless you're driving a luxury car with a massive engine under the hood, don't race me at a stoplight. I will win.

I still love this car. My #2 son fights with me to drive it. Runs great, but of course, needs maintenance care as my car ages. As of this day, I have 130,000 miles on this car, 85% highway and 15% local (all local these past 3 years). At 80,000 miles the dash lights failed. I fitted interior LED dash lights. A $15 fix, cheaper than new interior light autodim controller. Transmission failed at 110,000 miles. Drive faded into neutral and stayed there. Replaced with new tranny. Replaced old, leaky engine manifold seals. Replaced worn-out front passenger wheel assembly. No wings, no lowering. I need to be incognito, and need pothole/snow clearance!

Amazing value, great style too.

I was shopping for mid-mileage cars and my price- range couldn't find anything I really liked, then I saw my Regal LS with 145,000 miles on it. Car drove like new and was clean inside and out, loaded with features, quiet engine with loads of power and uses regular gas. I don't need the GS (I'm not racing). This car will transport 5 in style, great value better hwy mileage than Camry, better looking and bigger trunk too. The LS turned me into a Buick man, I put 6000 miles on it already and no problems so far, My family now travels in style even on a budget, if you can find a Regal LS get it!

I've always like this car. Then, I read the reviews and I was convinced. My only regret is that I didn't get a GS. Rising fuel prices scared me as 93 octane is recommended, but probably would have been worth it. I was able to find a "GS looking" Regal LS with 16 inch wheels, leather, and gran touring package. Purchased with 38K miles and have put on about 10K. Only oil changes were needed thus far. Car feels tight and engine is strong. True, as others have stated, the gas mileage around town could be better. I would highly recommend this car.

It's not the most stylish car on the planet, but I knew that going in. I bought a GS after much research led me to believe this was a very dependable car (although I found claims about the motor a bit of a stretch.) To be short - they weren't. I befriended several young buick enthusiasts on the web over the next year who helped me modify the motor in several ways... eventually boosting the output to 280hp and almost 325 ft-lbs of torque. Most of those kids take theirs to tracks on the weekends - I just like to surprise people in sports cars. I love this car. I bought it at 34k miles for $12K. Now at 126k and it runs like new (very fast too!)

I purchased mine used at 12k miles, and its now at 70k. Stereo is amazing! It was my favorite car, but now "little" things are going wrong. Sometimes windows won't go down, the body control module went out - cost several hundred to fix, the ABS sensor went bad - cost another several hundred, had to have trim fixed around the windows, and now the interior display panels won't light up! I love the car, but I'm starting to get fed up!

I love this car, and bought used w/ 41k, with oil changes and gas needed. I'm disappointed in the economy on the streets, but highway driving is better . It has a smooth ride, but I kept thinking something was wrong with the tires. I get a whining noise. Also, the low tire light has started to malfunction, and it stays on even though I have tires properly inflated. The climate control display comes and goes when it feels like it. If you can overlook some minor things this is a great car. It's stylish and can be souped up just like those other cars. On the brake system, use ceramic. It doesn't need brakes, just sounds like you do. Oh yeah, great stereo system. I almost replaced it, but decided to keep it. Great sound. I'd recommend this car to anyone

Bought in 2002 used with 49k miles, trading it in now 05/2005 with 109k miles. Very fast car, you'd never expect it and it always shocked everyone. I can be rolling 10mph, punch it and still smoke the tires. Sorry to see Buick stoped making the GS. Engine is great, no problems, oil still clear after 6,000 miles. Big drawback is fuel economy which totally stinks in city driving. But car has lots of gadgets, very comfortable, a hot rod and a luxury car combined. Monsoon stereo system is awesome.

I bought my 99 Regal as my first car. It has overall been a good car. The only complaints I have had are the low fuel economy (I expected much higher), and the unexpected failure of the transmission at 120k miles. My suggestion, which my friends tell me is good on any car, would be not to buy one with over 100k miles, or just get ready for problems.

The vehicle is very reliable and has a strong engine. Its ride is comfortable and controlled however it is not a sports car and should not be expected to handle like a Porche or a Corvette. Make sure you have the fire hazzard GM recall #99033 work done on your car to prevent a short that can melt a plastic fuel hose and cause and underhood fire. The Dealer will do this and all recalls free. There are two other recalls relating to the headlamps GM recall #99093 and a new recall that came out 9/04 GM recall #04052 all of the work is free just go to the Buick dealer with these recall numbers and make an appointment. They may have to order the parts but its free and important to these recalls.

Regal GSE has been very reliable, Buick hits the mark and sets the GM standard.Has great speed and really wants to go!!The sunroof and Monsoon stereo make it a joy in the summer. Nice even lines and sporty appearance. The handling?Well, lets say Buick should visit the upgrade parts store or GM performance bin. Goodyear tires are mismatched, upgrade ASAP. Seats are unsupportive with aggressive driving and long road trips.Shifter in way of storage.Back seat a little cramped.

After owning a Nissan Altima for 4 years I decided I wanted something a little bigger...with a more powerful engine. I also wanted more of a luxury car feel with a sharp look to it. The 1999 Buick Regal fit the bill. It is a reliable car that I was able to buy at a very good price due to high depreciation. Bad for those who bought new...good for the rest of us.

My'99 Buick Regal GS has been spectacular. Until 2003 it was the fastest sedan built in North America, and no one knew - a true sleeper. Fabulous seats for big guys, with enough legroom and headroom for Full-Size Americans even with a sunroof. Lots of glass and an open cockpit. This car has the best ride- handling balance of any in America when driven at 6/10ths - it's a beautiful combination of supple and firm. Monsoon stereo is fantastic. Huge trunk swallows 4 golf bags. Flowing exterior lines look great, distinctive. Its been rock-solid reliable so far. The only real minus has been poor gas mileage but I am guilty of leadfooted pleasures.

This is a fairly comfortable auto which rendered decent service and reasonable mileage, nothing outstanding or notable either positive or negative. My main problems were with trim and interior parts. The glove compartment door w/little use just fell off, The drivers door continualy got out of line and had to be realigned. The electrical system occasionally misfunctioned, ie: headlights just went off for 5-10 seconds and then came back on, drivers window occasionally went down when one started the car??? No one could find reason as it was intermittant and would work when technician looked at it. Overall good car w/annoying little problems.

These owners are preaching the truth!

My father's generation used to say, "People with money buy Cadilacs, but SMART people with money buy Buicks!" I would update this for my generation to say, "People with money buy BMW's (or Lexus or Infiniti), but SMART people with money buy the Buick Regal." I have owned several new BMW's over the years and don't get me wrong, the Regal GS can't match them in the handling department, but overall my Regal is much more car for the money than any BMW I ever owned. These other reviewers are preaching the truth. The Buick Regal GS is one of the best values and one of the best kept secrets on the road.

My parents bought this car 2 wks before I got married, but I have had to borrow it for about a month and all I can say is WOW!!! The Superchrgd engine is UNBELIEVABLE! Sometimes, it almost scares me, it's that fast. The previous report were right, though. The horn is hard to hit and find in an emergency, and the cupholders are in a REALLY STUPID spot!! And get rid of the Goodyears, they suck! Other than that, a great car!

My LS has been a very solid and reliable car. Maintenance, other than routine, has been "zero" and very few cars can match that. It has an excellent suspension and smooth ride. It's been a very comfortable and spacious car. No complaints and no regrets about buying it.

The Regal GS is a hidden treasure. The car has excellent performance with nice handling. It's also comfortable, I drive 40,000 per year. At 95,000 miles I've only replaced the tires and brakes.

This is a great driving car. Car handles well in most driving and weather situations. Since Aug of 1999 I have driven nearly 80,000 miles. I have had no repairs other than normal wear. Both interior and exterior have held up well to the wear and the road conditions. In the winter they salt and sand the roads when it snows, no major damage has been the result.

Regal GS has great acceleration. Front seat could use better back support - I use a cheap back support cushion I purchased for about $20. Horn is small, difficult to hit - and stupidly designed - definitely not a safety feature. Engine seems to be gradually getting louder as car ages. Extremely comfortable car for long drives (with addition of cheap back support cushion). We love the car - good value for the money & super great Monsoon radio.

Just turned 50 bought the car in 2000 for performance, assumed it was sleeper and it is! Not much under $30K can touch the performance of the GS and gas mileage is acceptable.

My Buick LSE is 3 years old now and is still very dependable and trouble free. The car is quick, great on gas (uses regular 87 octane), very comfortable seating, and bargin priced. I'd definately buy another one but would like to see a updated styling change. Unfortanetly that won't happen until 2005.

I luv this car! Bought end of lease for $15000 (plus $1K for 5 yr. warranty) with 26K miles on it. NO European or Japanese car could touch this car's value! Change the stock Goodyear Eagle LS's quick! - they hold the car back - I went to the top-H- rated Dunlop Sport A2's. To get top tire-smokin' performance, Trac Control OFF and Perf Shift ON and watch the gas needle drop! To get a SMOOOOTH limo ride, Trac Control ON and Perf Shift OFF. Family LUVS the comfort and interior room!

Best American Sedan, period.

Outstanding car! Simply better in every way than my 1995 Taurus SHO (which was itself a GREAT car). Flat out fastest American sedan out there("Buick? Yes!"). Current headlines on Buick quality are absolutely correct; this thing is screwed together very well. Torsional rigidity is light years beyond my SHO. If you can get past the oxymoron "Buick Sports Sedan" you'll find that this is quite simply the best all-around American sedan you can own. No Kidding.

COMPARED CAMRY, AND ACCORD. REGAL OFFERED MUCH MORE CAR, FOR A LOT LESS MONEY, AND DIDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH AN ARROGANT HONDA DEALER. AFTER 50,000 MILES, CAR HAS BEEN GREAT, ESPECIALLY ON LONG (12HRS) TRIPS. VERY COMFORTABLE. CHANGED FROM GOODYEAR EAGLE (RIDE IS HARSHER AND NOISY) TO MICHELIN X, AND NOW IT'S LIKE A LEXUS, BUT FOR $15,000 LESS CAN'T GO WRONG. BY THE WAY, THE REGAL HAS 'GRAN TOURING' SUSPENSION, MAKING IT AGILE: DEFINITELY NOT A LAND BOAT, YET STILL COMFORTABLE RIDE. IF YOU'RE INTO MUSIC, GET THE 'MONSOON' SOUND SYSTEM. AWESOME. BETTER SOUND IN THE CAR THAN MANY PEOPLE'S HOME STEREOS.

We've had our Regal 2 years and have had zero problems at over 36K miles. Just put gas in and the regular oil change. I had Honda's up to this point and almost died when my husband suggested a Buick. Since we bought used, it was cheap and has good performance. We live in Colorado at 7,000 feet and we have plenty of punch in the mountains. If you're considering a cost effective alternative to a Accord or Camry, I would suggest looking at the Regal.
