If you get the Deville de elegance. Be prepared to spend money if you switch to a aftermarket stereos.

Great car for the price.

I purchased a 98 Deville D'elegance with 62k from an older gentleman. This car was almost perfect, did all maintenance, coolant flush, trans filter fluid, plugs wires, brakes, and rebuilt front end with new shocks, tie rod ends and ball joints. This car is power and smooth with many options standard that many new cars do not have. After replacing the shocks the car is nice to drive but its no sports car. This is just a cruiser that can give a beat down to kids with Honda's trying to pass you up. I live in Seattle so nothing but hills, MPG is 16 no matter what I do, but if I travel on the freeway it gets 26mpg with tires infalted to 38 pounds.

I have found the Deville to be comfortable, quiet, and surprisingly fuel efficient. The car averages 23 MGP. Highway mileage approaches 27-29 MPG. The Northstar V8 is strong and responsive. Obviously, a car of this size does not handle like a sports car, nor was it designed to do so, but it is a beautifully designed cruiser. Virtually every option was ahead of its time back in 1998, and they are still workings flawlessly 13 years later. A true testament in reliability!

I bought this car with 78 thousand miles on it. Everything is working great on it and it rides smooth. It has the power to get up and go in a seconds notice. I didn't realize how big it really was till I sat in the backseat. Smooth Cadillac ride and lots of power. Gas mileage is pretty decent, better than I expected. My mom owns a 2006 impala and the deville has all the features the impala does and more even being as old as it is. No regrets buying this car. I plan to buy another.

There's nothing quite like a drive in a Cadillac. The exterior is unique and the interior is spacious. It certainly turns heads especially being 25 and owning one for pleasure driving. 4.6L engine with 300 horses that begs to be unleashed out on the open road.

Rides like a big car, it is a big car. Have a small car for work, but wanted a cadliac for other times. This year and model has everything you can think a car should have. People look at it when it goes by, a car should get noticed. Repairs are high and there are things I have to fix. But for a car 11 years old, looks good and rides like only a big car can. Purchased an American car even if GM is having problems. Parts and people who can work on it are still working.

Bought with 106,000 miles on it from a dealer. Well optioned with stabilitrac and all the goodies that made it nice to drive. I kept it well maintained. After 5 years of service, engine developed head gasket problems that caused overheating and engine shutdowns. I found that even though the car was still like new the repair would cost more than the car was worth. Loved the car and hated to see it go. Looked at getting a newer one but found that many 4.6L V8 engines have the same problem mine had. My advice is buy young and sell before 150,000 miles to avoid the problem. Would buy another in a heartbeat if no 4.6 liter engine in it. Too pretty to trash so donated to a charity.

I bought this car with 19000 miles on the car. I've owned this car since 1999, and its never given me any problems. I did replace the A/C a few years back. Nothing more serious than that. The gas mileage is great, and I would not hesitate driving this car coast to coast today. My car now has 119000 miles on it.

I bought this car after wrecking my Infinity after an ice storm and have not regreted it one bit. The ride is very smooth; seats are comfortable, everything is at finger tips for easy adjustment. This car gets fantastic fuel usage: 18-21 mpg in town and 26- 28 mpg on the highway driving the speed limit. During the time I have owned the car, I have spent less than $3500 for maintenance plus the regular 3000 mile check up & oil change, etc., and new tires. The body is still beautiful and shinny.

We use the car for long road trips, we enjoy the comfort, and space for luggage. Gas mileage is superb when you drive at or near the speed limit. We have had very little repairs to make to this car. An alternator once but nothing else except one set of tires and normal service., every 3k miles.

This was my first luxury car. It had phenomenal acceleration, which was shocking considering how heavy the car is. It was as fast as my old GTO. It had plenty of interior room and was very comfortable. It also had an enormous trunk. It ran like a Swiss watch. It did get poor gas mileage and it only runs on premium fuel. It also is expensive to insure. As you would expect, it's not a very nimble car. I purchased it new from a dealer in north central Arkansas. I was very happy with the car, but the tactics of dealership defied rational description.

This is my first Cadillac. I have owned two Lincolns, an Oldsmobile 98, and a Chrysler "New Yorker." None of the other cars came close to the DeVille. I can set the cruise control on 80, and drive all day getting 24 miles per gallon. On a two lane highway, I can step on the gas and the 4.7 liter "NorthStar" engine accelerates like a sports car, making passing safe and quick. Its comfort is great! I'm 66 years old and can drive all day and feel fine. Its handling is REALLY great for such a large car. Maintenance is minimal. I have had to replace one headlight. It is no wonder people use the word "Cadillac" to describe top shelf products of all types.

Please Sir, May I have another?

This is my third Cadillac, my second D'Elegance. My first was an 1985 Eldorado. This one, while excellent to own, has been a little disappointing on gas mileage. My '97 D'Elegance averaged 30 MPH on the highway and this one is lucky to get 27. All in all, I'm pleased and wouldn't hesitate to trust the brand.

From the moment you step on the gas its smooth all the way, all road conditions, weather and terrain. The only faults are excessive oil consumption, 2 quarts between changes, and while the breaks catch, the car drags the tires along. Once you learn about these and are prepared for them the smoothness and reliability almost makes up for it.

This family car provides great comfort. Have driven this car all over the country and it zooms along Texas roads getting at 26 miles per gallon and climbs West VA hills with ease. I'm faithful to oil changes, tire rotation and pressure. Bought the car with 17,000 miles (save the showroom price for folks who don't care what they pay). Will definitely consider buying Cadillac again if this one slows down! A/C needed major fix in first few months but my warranty covered everything except $50 deductible.

I bought this DeVille with 137,000 miles on the odometer. I can attest that I am loving this car. It had great care, and still does. I get great mileage of upwards of 34 mpg @ 67 mph. Who else can do that with 275hp and 4,000lbs? It is roomy and elegant, yet I can get up and go when needed. I am looking forward to my 3rd Cadillac someday.

When I retired I bought my dream car, 1998 Cadillac DeVille. What a nightmare it has turned out to be. I aquired the car with 43,000 miles on it. At 47,900 miles I replaced the battery for $133.76 and a battery cable for $129.38 parts and $272.00 labor. At 49,600 miles I replaced the spark plugs for $84.40 parts and $205.49 labor as well as the AC compressor for $669.30 parts and $401.49 labor. At 61,000 miles I replaced the HVAC blower motor for $348.60 parts and $81.48 labor. This labor cost was low since I refused to use a Cadillac dealer. Cadillac OEM parts costs and Cadillac dealer labor cost are extremely expensive. I will be selling my dream car since I refuse to be victimized anymore.

I wanted a family car with a powerful engine. I had already done the SUV thing and was not about to drive a minivan. Well, after owning my 1998 Cadillac DeVille for 6 and 1/2 years I still love it. I did add a Chevrolet Corvette to the garage though, just for a little more fun! The Cadillac is super and I highly recommend it. The car still looks and runs like it came off the showroom floor!

My 1998 Cadillac DeVille has a powerful motor and a quiet, comfortable ride. It provided great performance and reliabillity during the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty period. Mechanically it seems to fall on it's face after that. This vehicle received fantastic new car ratings, but seems to lose it's resale value rapidly, now we know why. If you want long term reliabillity, buy a Honda.

This is a wonderful car and very solid. It is unlike many of the newer cars and the light bodies. This is a car you sit in and feel like you are sitting at home in your living room. Lots of get up and go and a general nice feeling, easy to handle car. This is a great automobile. The more miles you put on it, the better it seems to drive and ride.

The car is plain ugly on the exterior. Quality was not of primary concern when designing this car. I also had a headlamp blow off while driving. It cost about $400 to replace it. The keyless enrty fails about as often as it works. I am impressed with the gas mileage and overall it's a fairly comfortable car. It drinks oil badly. The dealer says it's to be expected. I say FIX IT.

When most everything starts to wear out after only four years and 60,000 miles you know that you either have a lemon or there is a reliability issue. Brakes are terrible. They wear out too fast--pads and rotors and for four wheel disc they do not stop the vehicle like they should. The engine uses too much oil. Air conditioner, radio antenna, electronic level control, door locks, door window motor, egr valve, and the list goes on and on. We even had the driver side headlight lens blow off while going down the highway.

This is the nicest driving car ever. The motor is more than powerful, and the ride is silent. BUT, General Motors has short warranty periods for a reason. There is a lot that goes wrong in the vehicles midlife, so beware. Check engine lights are common and can be easily cured by a small piece of black tape. If you want a great car for the first 40k miles, this is it. If you want longevity in a car, this isn't it.

I bought this dirty Devill at 107.2K miles. After replacing battery, changing transmission fluid, rear brake, it runs very well. One thing I really want to know is its MAX MPG. It can be more than 26. I have proved 27(highway speed over 70) and 30 (county road, avg speed 50, east bound, no A/C, outside temp 70s, no cruise control). It can turn big angle easily and softly.

The cadillac is a wonderful car to drive and I don't think that the Cadillac gets the credit it deserves. The interior is layed out for easy control and reach. The leather seats are comfortble and well made.

I have owned all of the European cars out there. I had to be a Yuppie! Big deal. This car is a 2 ton monster on the road. American luxury at its finest. Strong Northstar engine. I am 38 years old loving every minute in my car.

With today's technology, I don't understand why premium fuel is required when my previous Fleetwood Brougham 5.2 required low grade fuel. Today's premium gas is not cheap.

Cadillac D'Elegance A luxurious and well built car. It drives and performs well. Mileage is not great, but better than one would expect for such a large car. Premium grade Fuel is required(a ault changed in newer models) which adds to the cost of fuel. Normal maintenance, oil changes, grease, brakes and tires is all that I have had to have done and my car has 73,000 miles.

Excellent ride & handling. Seats could be a little softer. Fuel economy is quite good. Cabin is quiet even on windy days. Overall quality & workmanship is very good. This is my second Caddy, am very well pleased with it.
