This is a very wonderful car. Mine is a V8 4.6. It's not the fastest of the Mustangs but it definitely gets up and moves. I recommend this vehicle

one of the best cars I've ever owned and still do.

I have a 96 Mustang Convertible with 311+K on the Body. Engine Has around 100k. I average 20 City and 30 MPG Freeway even if I'm driving Fast. Turning radius on these year stangs 94- 04 is horrific. Winter Driving takes a skilled driver. Always starts for me.

I purchased my Gt october of 07. Excited as hell the first day in it i nearly crashed it. I bought the car from a friend of mines that worked at the for dealership and he bought it from another guy at the same dealership. The car is far from stock. Since I have owned the car I've changed the headlights, taillights, tinted the windows, lowered the car. I have also added the K&N cold air intake (great purchase) I have changed the throttle body, also added the slp loudmouth shotgun resonators which sound amazing, i have also put wider (275) meaty tires to get the car to stick, larger brakes, 04 cobra tranny, and to top it off i had the car paint purple/ black with metal flakes.

I've had this car about 6 months now and have had no problems at all. It had 97K miles when I bought it but later I realized the odometer doesn't work so I don't really know how many it has on it. My favorite things about it are that it has great looks, it gets good gas mileage, and all the power options on it. Overall this is the best economical american muscle car for the money.

I'm selling it!

I have had my mustang for a year and 3 months. It had 89,000 miles when I bought it and it now has 99,000. Since I've had it I had to put new spark plugs, a frame bushing ball joint, belt, a/c clutch, ignition, and also have had it aligned twice. The seats that came in it were ugly. But I put seats from a 99 Mustang in them which look really nice. I have magnaflow dual exhaust on it (which sounds great), and traded in the 15" rims for 17", got a new sonic blue paint job, custom taillights and headlights. Which have made it a good looking car that turns heads. It has been reliable and has never broken down. Overall it is a decent car.

Wonderful car to own. I have had several Mustangs in the past 8 years. I have had V-8's and 1; V-6. All have been a pleasure to own. If you are looking for a V-6 spend the extra money for the extra HP you will happy that you did. The back seat is for looks basically, handling is wonderful, & speed is great!

I love my green Mustang with tan top. When I bought the car it was lowered in the front, dual exhast and cobra R wheels. This car is extremely fun to drive and when the top's off, wow on a nice night it's great. But I must say that the gas mileage is pretty bad, I feel like I'm always at the gas station. But other then that I plan on buying a 1998 GT convertible that's how much I like them.

The 1996 Ford Mustang GTR® has started up every time I have ever turned the key. I have had very little trouble finding parts for repairs (when necessary) as well as performance parts. I also think the ride quality is superior to previous years and the power is much improved with the 4.6L. Although the car lacks rwhp in its factory trim it makes up for it with torque. Also it is a solid car and hooks very well. The GT is ready for modifications in hp, which is truly the hallmark of a mustang, affording the opportunity for personalization.

Pretty quick, but a little weak for a V-8, but I just did a PI head swap to remedy that. It gets good gas mileage for a V-8. I took a 4 hour trip and only burned a half-tank. With the exception of the stock intake cracking, it's been very reliable. For it's time, the interior is pretty well-done, hence the reason it didn't really change again until the new '05 model. Overall, fun car to drive, and TONS of potential for modding.

I bought this car in November 2005 from a wholesale auto store. Was not sure what I was getting but I changed all of the fluids. The check engine light was on when I got it, the students at the local community college-automotive tech program checked it out and I needed a purge solenoid - $10.00 part. I bought two new tires and got it aligned and its been great! 79,000 miles on it and it's still turning heads.

Over 275,000 miles!

Over 275,000 miles on my '96 Mustang 6 cylinder and still going strong. Bought it used in '98 with 29,000 and have driven 135 miles daily round trip to work. The manual transmission went out at 185k and then the heater core started leaking at 225k. After they replaced the transmission, the speedometer cable burned into so for 3 months I didn't click off mileage so I have closer to 285k on this car and it is still going. This has been an overall excellent vehicle.

Fun car, worth the money.

I love my '96 GT. I don't understand all the bad reviews, it's mostly people who don't even know how to maintain a car anyway. If you take care of it, it should be a good car. I keep up all regular maintenance mine is great. Only thing I really have to complain about is that piece of junk plastic intake crossover. I broke it 2 weeks after getting the car and it cost me $700 to replace the manifold. If you buy one of these things, try to get one that already has the aluminum replacement. Other than that, great car. Not that fast for a v8 but not slow either, and definitely not bad for its time. Handles MUCH better than expected also. I love my pony.

It's a fun car to own if you are handy with a tool box. I like the car but I don't trust Ford quality. Ford's use of plastic in critical engine parts is senseless. The intake manifold cracked (4.6L engine). The cheap use of plastic vacuum lines behind the dash. You have no leg room in the rear. It's an affordable sports car to own. It has plenty of power. There are plenty of aftermarket parts to keep your Mustang looking good. Be sure to get a good maintenance manual to save you money on the repairs.

I bought this Stang in January of 2004 and have had no problems whatsoever. Tires wear fast, but with a car that looks like a Mustang, who cares? I love this car. I put Cobra rims on and have had no extreme tire wear since. Also with the installed Flowmaster dual exhaust it always gets confused for a GT. I would reccomend this car to anyone who likes to drop the hammer once in awhile and hear the exhaust scream.

Bought new off the lot. Opal Frost GT with Option Package 248a (the 1996 version of the GTS). I added A/C at the dealer soon after purchase and then added a spoiler a couple of years later. There were a few minor problems early on (clutch noise, radio - all covered by the dealer). The intake manifold has blown twice (at 50k miles and 100k miles) - both times replaced by the dealer at no charge. Pirelli P7000 tires are a great fit for this car (get ~40k miles on them and all-weather traction). Good mileage for a V8. Some wear on the interior pieces but overall the car has aged very well. Paint still looks new. Has been a great car; still going strong on original engine at 157K miles.

I bought this car with low miles on it for the year. Since then I have spent over $6,000 dollars in repairs for this car. Transmission, radiator, radiator fan and motor, suspension, top, and it goes through tires and brakes fast. Another bad thing about this car is the electrical problems. My A/C system only blows on high and the O2 sensor and evaporative sensor also have been replaced All the problems started to happen after 75,000 miles; other than all the bad stuff this car is fun to drive with the top down and handles pretty well. Gas mileage is also pretty bad - about 15 mpg with the v6.

I bought the car a few months ago and i absolutely love it. It is fun to drive and fairly fast. It does get the worst gas mileage, but that's the price you pay for 8 cylinders. Some must-have mods are: Flowmaster Dela 40 exhaust with chrome tips, headers, and a 70mm throttle body. I recommend the Edelbrock. I kept the factory intake but put on a Kk&N filter. I also opened up the scoops in the hood so the engine is kept colder. I get 20 more HP in the winter time.

Bought new, gets comments eight years later. Red paint glistens. Blew the intake manifold at 55 k, Ford covered repair even though out of warranty! Differential leak at about 90,000. Ended up paying for a new rear end. My fault...fixing the leak would have been much less costly. Clutch went at 110,000, but got the repair for $600 by avoiding the dealer. Ran too hot for a summer. Replaced radiator at 120k which fixed the problem ($400). Now runs cool even in 100 degree heat with the a/c blasting. Tires good for no more than 45 k. I'm now running my third set. At about $900 per, that's not cheap. But man, those meats look good.

I was so excited to purchase this vehicle back in 1996. It was so much fun to drive and very comfortable. When the car hit 47,000 miles things went sour. The head gaskets blew and the car was out of commission for 2+ months while waiting for a new engine to replace the damaged lower block. A few months after that, the car was recalled for this problem. Right after that the a/c line broke. I had all the repairs made at the dealer. Then most recently, the engine blew again! I could not believe it. This will make the 3rd engine and it only has 108,000 miles. Based on my experience, this car is THE money pit.

Changed front pads at 108,000 mi. and still had 3/8 in. of lining left, still have a 1/2 in. of lining on the rear. This car has been just awesome all the way around.

I think Ford made a really nice car with this coupe. For the money its a nice looking ride and some peep to it. One thing with these cars is they go through tires BIG TIME! and we drive it very little. Its not the tires I put on it, Its the car itself dragging the tires tread down. At 53K miles its I have replaced 4 sets of tires on it due to poor suspension. Nice looking car and good for a v-6 on gas

The car is a ton of fun to drive. Power is always right there, but a little more is always a lttile better. So far a couple of mods (exhaust and intake) have awakened the car better than I expexted. Gas mileage isn't great, but if you want 40 miles per gallon, then this is not the car for you. The Mustang is all about power and looking good! I love it!

I bought this car when it had 76,000 miles on it and it runs great. I have upgraded wheels, exhaust, shifter and a few other bolt-ons. This is the best body style of a Mustang but sadly the motor id the worst ever put in a Mustang. The heads are very resticting and that decreases HP. These car will hang with 99+ Stangs with a headswap. Great car overall.

I bought this Stang 7 years ago and always kept it well maintained until that dreaded day when I let my 16 year old drive it 10 days after he got his license. Well i'll tell you something he hit a telephone pole and pushed the engine darn near into the passenger compartment and walked away with minor injuries so I rate it safe. What a great car. I never had a major repair done in 7years. The only rpoblem was the excessive wear on the tires. I seems I replaced them every 18 months.

I bought my 1996 mustang Gt last summer and so far its great no problems at all. Its a very fun car to drive. Only problem for thoughs who live were theres snow, you cant drive them in the winter so be prepared to by a cheap winter car.

After many years of driving GM's I started looking at the Ford Mustang!! The Transmission Blew at 31,000,the Tire Rods also had to be replaced and It has No Power for a V8 Engine!! Needless to say I have Happily Sold this Car(after wasting over $2,000 in repairs) and I am VERY Dissapointed in a Car w/Less than 32,000 Miles on it and It Literally Needs a Complete Ovehaul!! I Would Never Buy a Ford Agian!!!!Reality wise I can't call it a Muscle/Sport car since it's True Competition is the Mitsubishi Eclipse!!! The Need to Go back to the Drawing board and Re-Invent their Engine and Transmisson to seriously be a Contender to Chevy's Monsters!!!

I love my mustang but am virtually forced to sell because I can't afford the monthly repairs this car requires. The car is high maintenance and it would be one thing to repair it, but it means you have to go to a ford dealer and sit there in wait hours with other ford owners. Trust me, it's not fun. $300+ monthly maintenance bills. Mine has sit in my driveway for 4 months without moving, because I couldn't afford to fix it for a while.

all in all it has been an awesome car. the car looks sweet and still can make everyone turn their head. it feels nice to speed up with the 5 speed manual. no serious mechanical problems, except the intake manifold cracking at 58K but taken care of under recall. some of the interior "plastics" squeak on bumpy rides. also on quick acceleration the transmission grinds when shifting to second. a slight lack in HP but exceptable being the first of the 4.6L.

I bought my hard top GT new in 1996. It been a pretty reliable car with a couple of exceptions. My brakes have lasted 60k miles with hard driving. The only negatives I see is the plastic intake which cracked and was replaced at 50k miles and the throw-out bearing on the clutch start making noise around 20k miles. I plan to purchase a new car this year but I will keep the Mustang for a second vehicle.

I bought this car used 3 years ago.I have had no problems with it so far, except the alternator which went out at 63000 miles, not a major problem, I've replaced it, now everything is fine.

I was real impressed with this car the first time I drove it. It is much more comfortable than a camaro, in interior design and ride. The design is much more inviting and the seats, which may not slide back for enough offers a very relaxing feel. The car lacks in horsepower, but still has enough power to make me smile when I nail it. Gas mileage is unimpressive, but on the highway on long trips, it is much better than expeceted, in the mid 20s. The noise level is very low. Overall, I think it was a good buy, especially due to all the heads it still turns, even at 6 years old with 90k.

Overall, I thought I had made a great purchase until I passed 30k--when the warranty was no longer valid. At 32k the transmission blew apart --thanks to a defective converter (By the way, I don't drive like a maniac--and really take good care of my cars). Needless to say, I was out almost $2k. I have just been informed that my engine needs to be rebuilt at only 100k miles. After speaking with other Ford owners, this is a common problem. Very frustrating. I have been VERY disappointed with the repair costs and problems. This car is going to the junk yard this week. Can promise you that my next car will be anything but a Ford.

A great summer car that rides and handles very well. The V6 could use more power but that can be cured with dual exhaust and intake upgrades. This car seems prone to electrical problems. In the past 8 months it has had 2 major (vapor canistor sensor, ignition coils)and 1 minor (cruise control) electrical problem. Harmonic vibration at around 60mph/100kph.

Rear end failed at 20K (20,000 miles); odometer/speedometer failed by 35K; both tie rod ends failed by 55K; intake manifold (recall item) blew at 60K; passenger seat broke and seatbelts stopped automatically retracting about 65K; all the "plastics" squeaked a lot; trunk often times wouldn't latch; etc..

We have never had one problem (knock on wood) with our 1996 Mustang. She has been an absolute dream to own. The turning circle sucks and it's underpowered, but past that, it's been great. We've driven cross country twice and it's been great. Back seat is basically useless for people, but it's just me, hubby, and our cocker spaniel so it fits us just fine!

I purchased my 96 mustang because it was a chance to have that pretty sporty car before i got a "family" car. Unfortunately it has had so many problems since then that I would have probably been better off with a toyota or honda. Now I know and am trying to sell it before it costs me even more!!!

This has been one of the best cars I've ever own, and I've been driving 40 years. I put a K&N air filter on it and a Hooker Header Cat Back system on it a few years back. These 2 items really increased the horsepower. I also put on set of Boyd's wheels to dress it up. I just turned 59,000 miles today and everything is original, brakes, clutch, etc. There have been no mechanical problems and just regular maintenance. I change the oil myself every 2,500 to 3,000 miles and use Valvoline All Climate 5-30 oil. This car has been one of the best I've ever owned!

i've had the stang for more than 8months now. With the california weather, im fortunate to drive with the top down even during the winter season!! The only complaint is the gas milage, then again maybe its my right foot that makes a difference in that! My MAF has gone out and will need replacement soon! Other than that, the vehicle is grrrreat!

i just recently bought a 96 mustang convertable and its awesome...The looks are beatiful...the feel and handling is great...and with the top down, you feel free. The performance is pretty good too...and the fuel economy is outstanding...these are some of the mosts beautiful 'stangs ever built.
