My father bought this car back in 2005 with around 90,000 miles or so. We had to have the transmission rebuilt by AAMCO because some little piece inside of it broke and it had trouble starting and going into reverse. the AAMCO tech said the problem is so rare he guarantees it won't happen again. And it did not! not only that, but we never had any more issues out of the car. It was turned over to me in 2011 with 122k. At 130k, I lost control of the car while making a turn and slid into a curb at 55 mph. The car's frame had twisted and the car was totaled. I shed a few tears when I heard this. What a great car. Was looking for another...but hard to find, everyone who has one loves it!

Owned this car for 5 years and it has been very good to me. I was a college student when I first purchased it, so I did a lot of commuting home and back to school. 168,000 mi and still going strong! Smooth ride, good gas mileage, very few issues, never left me stranded!I was never the best about routine maintenance, that being said, I've still never had any major issues and my car has always started up every single day. Would recommend to anyone looking for reliability and durability. Excellent 1st, 2nd or 3rd car.

I bought this car with 61,000 on it.Now 116,000. Drives great, good mileage, Body good. Skylight does not work and the door locks clicks off and on. The interior lights will not go off. Mechanic tells me parts to repair are no longer available. If any one knows how to get parts would be most helpful.

I bought this car from Brother in law. It had 180,000 miles on it now has 210,000 and drives very good. I had to replace the radiator and usual oil change but the car still runs great and fast. Love the smooth ride.

Bought this car from private elder couple who never smoked. Interior well laid out, engine 3.1 v-6 has plenty of power, and in comparison with foreign makes gets a reliable 29 mpg on the road with 25 in town. Full size seating for 6 with great fuel economy,(I would put it up against Toyota or Nissan any day) Handles great, very reliable with minimum maint. and above all very good fuel economy.

This car has been a blessing to my family. I purchased the car in 1998 with the intention of having a dependable car available for my daughter to drive her senior year in high school and to accompany her to college. This car has performed superbly. It accompanied her to New York for an internship assignment her freshman year. To make a long story short after my daughter's graduation from college she turned the car back over to me because she was blessed to secure a position with a company and part of her employment package was the use of new car. I joyfully accepted the car and now proudly use it as my transportation to frequent golf outings. God is good! I have 189,000 miles on it>

I made a huge mistake in this purchase. I used to work for Buick and felt some loyalty. However, this is a disaster car. Brakes needed replacement within the first 100 miles. And after replacement, the brakes are so soft to operate, versus other cars, I am constantly worrying that the car won't stop. Rear end sounds loose and engine light won't go off (the dealer said they corrected it but did not). The interior is worse in class by a wide margin. Seats are terrible, and there is no cup holders. The heater/A/C controls were designed by a total idiot, and very hard to operate. The radio confounds everyone who trys to use it. The door storage is a waste for all the good they do.

Going on 116,000 miles! Powerful engine, smooth riding just like a Cadillac. Shines like new still! Seat are not that comfortable, coils are shot, feels like I am sitting in a hole! Great sound system. Showing very minor lower body rust.

Over all the car is good. Transmission was bad but replaced transmission and added a cooler to extend the life of the transmission. The replacement of the front struts was so easy it took only 1/2 hour per side to replace. The rear exhaust manafold was cracked replaced that when the transmission was installed. Car runs like new gets over 25 mpg. Used Bosch 4 electrode spark plugs. The 3.1 liter is a strong engine. The car is kind of light. The ABS system is needed because the car is so light.

Bought used with 46,000mi and have 120,000. Has been unbelievably reliable. Outside of new tires and routine brake work, only replaced the belt, a radiator and an alternator. Always starts up like a dream. Most comfortable seats. Great engine. Bought an '01 Regal based on experience with this one, but it doesn't even come close in driveablilty or reliability.

We bought a 1996 Buick Regal for $3000 with only 62,500 miles on it. It is the smoothest car out of our 2 other cars. The engine is a tiny bit loud, but that is because of the age. The sound of the radio of 100x better than our other Buick. Sound quality is superb! I feel very comfortable in this car going 80mph. Although this car is 10 years old, the quality is still superb.

Nothing beats a Buick!

This car is great.. it handles and drives quite nicely. Performance is adequate and styling is nice. I have owned mine for 4 years and it now has 95K miles on it and have had no major problems other then routine maintenance. The car has ice cold air and is fantastic on gas with the 3.1 engine. You can get some real good deals on these so if you are on a tight budget, look around as you can find a good deal on one of these and still own a GOOD quality American made car.

I have had my Buick for 4 years & only had to replace rear struts & alternator. That is great for a car with 198,000 miles on it. All major parts & transmission is original. Proper care of trans flushes & oil changes I believe will have this car another 100,000 miles. I WILL NOT GIVE IT UP EASILY! I never had a car so dependable before, not even foreign. I definately got my moneys worth out of this one!

Purchased car with 25,000 now have 75,000. No major problems, but did have fairly costly replacement of tail light because dampness in tail light assembly caused light to short out often. Interior switch to automatically unlock doors does not always work. Brakes are noisy; they work but I think that the pedal feels soft as compared to other brands of rental cars I often drive. Otherwise just routine maintenance. Roomy interior and trunk.

Great car.

This is a great car, I get almost 25MPG in the city driving no more than 5mph above the speed limit and accelerating soft. Take care of the transmission, my car has 140,000 miles and I already need to replace the transmission on it, still drives fine though. Overall this is a great car, I plan to keep this car for 200,000+ miles.

Aside from GM's decision to cut weight in the wrong places & start to make "pewter" brake rotors in all sedans from the mid-90's to the present, this car has been fabulous ! No maintenance expense aside from recomended chart routine. I'm getting great gas mileage on the interstates. It's made my previous Grand-Am seem to ride like a buck-board! I'm keeping it 'till the wheels fall off!

I've owned my 96 Regal GS for 3 years now and it's been a joy to own and drive. The only major fix was replacing the fuel pump a few years ago but, other than that, have just performed regular maint. It's got good power and performance with great gas mileage for the vehicle type. Even with it being 9 years old, it's still in excellent condition and looks better than the newer Buicks on the road.

Bought in 99 w 33000 now (05) have 78000+. In 4 years have replaced 1 alternator, the cruise crontrol module and 2 door seal gaskets and repaired the radio. Added a spoiler for looks. Interior quality lacks a bit.Does have dash rattle. A folded bit of paper between dash and glove box door solved that.Interior trim clips are starting to fail. Regal ride and power has me spoiled. Thought about replacing it but nothing else affordable seems to compare. Paint is holding up very well.

This is a very good car. Great on gas for the size of the car. Does better than some small cars. I've gotten up to 21 city and 32 highway. Have taken a few trips and it was very comfortable. I have not had a single problem with the car. I have 77,000 miles on it now. It was purchased with 70,000 on it from a friend who bought it from a dealer with 63,000 miles. The only thing he had to do is replace the battery. Stereo is great.

It has good acceleration and handles very well in the city. I work for a Buick dealership so I have the chance to drive every Buick model from different years, I also have the chance to drive many other cars, domestic and imported, but the Regal is my favorite. I will probably buy a newer Regal in the future.

I have always been apprehensive about owning a Buick because it seems like a car for an elderly person, with no 'pickup' or style. But, in owning one, I can see why people like them. I havent experienced any major problems w/my vehicle except one. The tail light was getting condensation and shorted out my fuses!

I bought @ ~60,000 miles - now @ 87000 miles, it seems to be falling apart. I just put work in, and it now needs more: * Check engine light flickers. New transmission needed. * Wheel squeaks. * Power steering fluid leaks * Coolant leaks, probably stemming from: * Radiator leaks. * Dashboard radio/heater lights are broken/work intermittently. * Gets ~16 miles per gallon. (Verified) * Radiator fan has died. * Spedometer appears unreliable. * Front right door is very difficult to close. * Plastic interior seems frail - breaks easily. * Front right door somewhat hard to unlock. * Dashboard is coming loose - vibrates while you drive. * Tape player eats tapes.
