I own 3 Town Cars, a 95, 96 and 97. The 95 is by far the most responsive car to drive, great transmission response when accelerating, unlike the other two years that feel you may not really want to go fast and take their sweet time in down shifting. A further plus is the 95 runs on regular, the other two years really need high test to not ping. If you keep your foot out of it around town the mileage is really pretty good, and the 95 seems to be better than the other 2 years by about 1 MPG at 22. I have 260K mile on 96, 125K on the other 2. 96 is about shot, runs great, all the bells and whistles failing. Bad things - the window systems flat suck. the front end wears out after 100K miles. Found a new bad thing-when the electronics go wild, speedometer, radio, or anything else, it is often the diodes in the alternator. Rebuilt alternators do not always replace the diodes, so a cure can be a challenge. I go to a local rebuilder.

My 95 Town Car was left to me after a family member passed away. That was 16 year ago. I have driven the car 417,000 miles since then.
This car is about as bullet proof as you can get. I've had Honda's, Acura's and even a Lexus during the whole time I've owned this car. I have to say the Lincoln is just old school comfort plain and simple. It's not fast and it certainly no sports cars in the corners either. This car is built to cruise and on the highway she does a solid 23 mpg. I've recorded 25 mpg but that was before the lousy E10 gasoline came our way.
The weak link in Town Car is by far the rear air suspension however you can buy the parts cheaply and they are easy to replace.

Lincoln has done a wonderful job with this automobile.
Bought the car in 2010 with 100,000 miles.
Now August of 2011 has 130,000, and the only trips to the mechanic were for brakes and oil changes.
Car ride tremendously, especially with the air bag suspension.
The 4.6l V8 to this day doesn't burn or leak anything!!!
Love the leather seats, and all the power amenities.
Only issue I have had with the car was putting a driver said regulator in. Great car, cranks every single time, rides great, can put 5 big adults in car.
I get around 19-20mpg average with a 20 mile commute, but last year i got 28mpg hwy on a trip to NC!!!
Love this car, and will definitely buy another Towncar!

Never owned a Lincoln before now. My pop passed and he left me with his pride and joy 95 town car. (That his dad gave him when he passed in 1999) This car is for the BIG MAN. It has plenty of leg and head room and the ride is out of this world smooth. It does have the power to get up and go if you need it. The only down fall I see is the fuel mileage is only about 13-16 in the city and I have not got it on the highway for a road trip yet so don't know about the highway mileage. Thanks Lincoln from the 3rd generation of town car owner.

I have 244000 miles on this car. Only problem was with the A/C compressor. This is my second Lincoln. First one was a 1978 Mark V. Both cars were awesome. Way underrated. Very reliable, great ride, and handle well for their size. This 1995 Town car is amazing. I bought it used with 125000 miles on it, and I think the way it drives 350000 miles is very possible! If the quality of the new Lincoln cars are like this... they have to be rated as one of the best cars in the world, at ANY price! I hope Lincoln builds Town Cars FOREVER ! There has to be a market for this type of car, I would think. Even fuel mileage is good, average between 22 to as high as 28 MPG ! This surprised me.

I currently have 208,000 miles on the car and it still runs great. I have only had one major repair in the nine years that I have owned the car and that was the suspension system. It still rides great and although I'm due for a new car soon I hope that I can find one that is as reliable and that I like as much. It will be interesting to see how many miles this car will eventually get. I think that it still has many miles left if it is maintained correctly.

I like used cars. The 1995 Town Car is great. I only replaced the usual wear items like tires, oil etc. This year of Lincoln has the newer dash and interior. I bought this car two years ago for $5200 and it may be the best used car I ever purchased. 90,000 miles and no leaks under the car. If you can get the Signature or Cartier. I am 6'2' and do not need to put the seat all the way back. Lots of room.

This car has been amazing since it has been completely fixed. Not very long after purchase, it was in the shop at least once every two weeks. It had the habit of dying randomly during driving. Not a put-put die process, but just turning off. After something like six months of every part imaginable being replaced, we took it to a local auto supply store, and the clerk changed a six dollar relay switch which has corrected the problem. Aside from that, it has been amazing; it is big enough for anything you want to do, but not overbearing. It has amazing performance that is hardly ever used, but is there when needed. I love it and so does everyone that rides in it. Her name is Louise.

We got this car from my wife's brother, it had 86000 miles on it. We now have 181500 miles. The only thing needed so far is air bag replacement. We plan on keeping it for several more years. IT still runs great, gets good gas millage, and still looks great compared to the newer cars.

This is truly a great car. It's my
first Lincoln. It get great gas mileage
24.4 mpg, great for a car this size.
The only complaint that I have is that
there are no beverage holder except in
the front ashtray, and they are very
small. All in all this has been a great
car. I have 160000 plus miles on it and
it is still very dependable.

I looked at every American and import
but Ive always wanted a luxury car. I
got my 95 Town Car from a dealership
and probably paid too much, but alot
less than any new car. My Towncar was
imaculate with 62k original miles
garaged.. exterior/interior like
new..Preformance white outside
gorogeous red leather interior..rides
and drives like a dream... Oh Yeah,I
read a review from EDMUNDS.COM before i
bought mine..Right after we got it we
did a road trip to New Mexico.. we
averaged 28mpg for a V-8 real good
specialy driving 85-95mph

Owned it since 95. Currently 78000
miles. Brakes were a problem until I
got a Goodyear unlimited warranty on
them...now OK. Had to have the trans
rebuilt at 70000 but other than that
NO problems and average 22 mpg. Solid
and comfortable!

I bought it mostly for appearance..a
real upfront car..didn't look like
the "other" cars..sharp.but inexpensive
to drive..comfortable..a real AMERICAN
car..has been reliable..feel good
driving it..newer models don't have the
striking look of the older Lincolns
..the "look at me"....you've lost it
fellas..don't copy! and if it isn't
"broke don't fix it".appealing to the
Yuppies isn't what a Lincoln Town Car
was all about...it's for "The
Establishment" we earned it and wanted
it..and you have taken the elegance away

Interior and trunk room is fantastic!
Very good performance considering the
engine size (4.6L V-8)and weight.
These cars can be found in good
condition for well under $10,000 since
most of the owners were older and took
care of their vehicles. Only Mobil One
synthetic oil is used every 5000 miles.
Easy to drive. Only hangups--
transmission thunks slightly shifting
into overdrive (fluid change may help?)
and the driver side window does not work
Not bad for an 8-yr old American car.

We bought ours used with 44k miles on
it. It has the performance suspension
and the 16 inch wheels, so it's not too
floaty or soft. The updated interior
on the 95 through 97 models is very
nice and roomy. We have had to change
the transmission fluid (highly
recommended if the trans
clunks/shudders), fix the drivers side
power window, and fix the heater fan,
but that's all. Set the cruise on 60
mph and you get 30 miles per gallon!
Feel safe when your wife and two small
kids get in the car! I think it's
safer and more economical that a mini-
van or a SUV.

Very reliable, very luxurious, gets 24+
mpg on highway trips, freshened
exterior for 1995 with mostly new

decent power as Sign. Series has dual
