We bought ours used in early 2010 I think and it was in very good condition. It had 187K miles on it at that time and everything was in very good working condition except the A/C. Given it was already 15 years old we didn't think much of that. The cruise control still works. We bought it for a whopping $3800 and we've gotten our money's worth out of it many times over. It had less than the typical Ford rust and still isn't too bad despite having always lived in the North and having been kept outside for most of the time we've owned it. It started every time despite the very cold winters. It was my daily driver for about 5 years and it was really nice to drive. VERY good turning radius like I've come to expect in my Fords. We've done a number of long trips in it and it's VERY comfortable on the ride. My husband is just over 6 feet tall and has ample leg room. The extended cab seat isn't real comfortable but we rarely have 2 legged passengers so that's been less important. It's great for the dogs, however. I love the rear slider and the side wing windows--that's all made the lack of A/C acceptable. On long trips by myself I've needed to pull over to nap and at 5'6" I can fit comfortably across the bench. It's strangely comfortable for sleeping. Ours has almost 360K miles on it and is still getting around 17mpg highway. You can't beat the reliability. The passenger side window motor needs to be replaced now (the truck is 21 years old so....), the fuel pump went out last year on one of the two gas tanks, we've done u-joints, replaced a gas tank, and otherwise it's just been normal maintenance like brakes/tires/oil. The original tailgate stopped latching maybe 2-3 years ago so that needed to be replaced as well. It has a very substantial deer guard on the front and after hitting 5 or 6 deer now it does have a few dents. Someone sideswiped us in a parking lot and even so, the body held up well. I've also driven it through blizzards and despite being 2WD it handled beautifully. We've dubbed it 'The Green Beast' because it's as though there is no weather it can't handle--even on the unattended country roads with blowing and drifting snow I'm very confident driving it. We have no intention of selling it, we plan to keep it til it dies because it's such an excellent vehicle.

Love these old trucks!

I found a nearly mint 1995 Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab, 4x4, with only 53,000 original, gentle, miles. This truck was owned by an older gentleman and was garaged most of its life. I could not find a rust spot on the body or frame (Under carriage appears to have been "Z-barted"....Only some of you will get that...). The engine and interior compartment are spotless. All the instruments and gauges still work. Although not my favorite color (white), I couldn't pass up this deal, $6,500.00 ! This is a bare-bones work truck, but I don't abuse it and use it as a gentle daily driver. I can afford a brand new Ford, but I'm not a lover of new vehicles; I like old technology. And although I would like a pick-up that is even older than this one, I have no complaints about this '95 Ford P/U. Because I didn't want to pass on this "all of a sudden; take it or leave it" deal, I did my research after the sale with my fingers crossed. I made a great choice. It has Ford's straight-line 6-cylinder and my research shows that this is one of the best motors Ford ever produced with some owners reporting 200 and 300, 000 miles with no major problems. I should get lots daily use with it only have 53,000 on it as it sits. I love these old trucks and the the security of all the steel that surrounds you when you're out on the road; you know you're in a truck! It would have also been a little more "manly" with a manual stick-shift instead of an automatic, but it shifts smoothly and has no hesitation when switching from drive to reverse or vice versa. I think I'll hold on to this old girl for a while and see how far see takes me.... :)

I have to like it, it keeps on running

I am over six feet tall and I have broad shoulders, so they tell me, and I am very comfortable in this truck. No matter how long the drive, I am not exhausted at the end of the trip. My longest running trip was about four hours with a couple of rest stops or fifteen minute walk around breaks. SUV can stay anywhere around me, I can see around you or most of the time over you. So I like the helpful seating height. It is dependable as far as any other vehicle out there, I am most comfortable in my extended cab. Some say its too bad they don't make them like that anymore, Well that is the same thing they said about the 1940's , I say this is a real good one, and if you can get a new 2016 of the same make and model , go for it, they only make them smarter and safer. But they remember from where they came from and build up from that. Two thumbs up ,, Way up to this group of Manufacturers, I appreciate Ford. The safe affordable work horse and style ride for the American that try's to Get R Done Daily.. !

i drive 1995 f150 automatic 302ci small block ford AKA 5.0 with 226,000 miles. The shifting is hard if you stomp it but other then that it smooth.i have the Eddie Bauer edition body style its nice i just wish i would know what color it is because in different lights its different colors.the engine is one of fords best engine they have ever built no problems had to replace the radiator couple pulls brakes and change oil.i like how it sits cause the back end way higher then the front but i think ford made them like that back then for towing and load capacity . the interior is nice its hard to find one without have the dash cracked but luckily mine wasn't the seats are really comfortable however it had a couple coffee stains but other then that it is a tough rugged truck to bad they don't make them like they use too.

Reliable and tough.

1995 F150 Reg Cab, 4.9L 6cyl 8-foot-bed. Edmunds doesn't list auto trans. I'm 2nd owner, bought in 2012 w/ 117k now it has 170k. I've had it 3 yrs. No issues, power steering pump, and ac recharge. I added trans cooler. This truck is tough. It takes whatever I throw at it. I have towed some really heavy stuff. Trailers full of rock 5,000+ pounds, etc. A pallet of tile placed in the bed and the whole rear end was almost on the ground and the truck took it. I usually don't abuse cars but the truck is so tough I find myself pushing the limits all the time. I have towed cars hundreds of miles, etc. It was a sheriff truck before I got it - not maintained well. Best truck I've ever owned.

Owned a 1995 F-150 XL Regular Cab Short Bed with the 5.0 V8 and 5-speed manual transmission. Pros: The truck was fun to drive with the 5 speed. Did occasional hauling/towing, but not every day. Body style: I love the boxy body style and simple interior. I was lucky enough to find one without power windows or door locks. The only real upgrades to the interior were a cloth bench seat (instead of vinyl) and cruise control. I added $75 aftermarket CD player/radio after buying. Cons: Stock 5.0 V8 was a bit under-powered and thirsty-averaged 10-15 mpg. Weak link was the 5-speed tranny-Ford used the same tranny used on the 4/6 cyl Ranger. The F-250 got the heavy duty version, although a limited number of F-150's came with the heavy duty version in 1995 (I was not lucky enough to get one of these :( ) Went through 2 clutch replacements in 80K miles. That being said, I still would buy an F-150 with a manual (if available) over an automatic transmission.

For a small truck it is amazing. I am so surprised by how well this thing tows with only a 5. O (302). We pull an 18 ft enclosed trailer loaded with tons of camping gear the truck doesn't even shudder when pulling onto high speed roads. Not to mention this truck will not break, the most repairs it has had is a few starters and a window motor

I bought this truck from my employer with a tad over 300,000 on it, figuring if I got a year out of it I was doing good. Five years later, I have 352,000 on it. Even with the ultra hi-mileage, I'm not afraid to drive it anywhere. In that time, I've replaced fuel pumps in both tanks, windshield, and a TPS. It has the 5.0 engine, no gas mileage champ, but no slouch either. Finally started showing rust around the wheel wells on the bed and has had a slight rear main leak since I bought it. I've been thinking of trading it in on a new truck but I can't stand what I see out there now, so I think I'll just keep maintaining it.

I bought my truck at an equipment auction. It had the 4.9L 6 cyl & 5 speed. When I bought the truck it had 105k miles on it. When I sold it 11 years later it had over 250k miles on it and still running strong. I averaged around 18MPG most of the time. If I drove only highway I could get up to 21mpg for a full size truck that is very impressive. I used it for work, and for fun. I hauled many heavy loads and full trailers with ease. I wish Ford would have continued th3 4.9L with the newer trucks. In my 11 years of owning it. I replaced a clutch, brake pads and a radiator. I bought it for $7k and sold it 11 years later for $3k. I wish I would have kept it ;-)

I am the second owner and bought my F150 in 1999 with about 90000 miles and it now has 197000. It is basic on the inside but the exterior has true eye appeal with a rugged look yet clean and classy. The truck is Black with Charcoal lower panel. It is a V8 with standard 5 speed transmission. I always receive complements on its appearance. I was hearing a roar in either the transmission or rear end and had decided to sell. After checking prices on newer models and restored older models a light went off. Since I like this truck and there have not been any real issues why not invest in something I already know. I decided 2 or $3000 in this workhorse will get me another 10 yrs. GREAT TRUCK !!

I got the truck for free from my uncle he bought it in 1995 for 16,000. Had it overhauled at 186,000 miles. I myself have done the balljoints, brakes, regular tune ups and all that stuff. So far the best truck I have ever owned, the straight six is probably the best motor around. I was 16 when I got the truck and was very hard on it! 2 feet of mud, no lift, and still made it through, has pulled out plenty of people stuck in ditches, and mud roads. Won best old beater when I graduated high school. Candy Apple red and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Kind of a suprise

I am in no means a truck person. I only bought it because I was moving somewhere that is would be a good vehicle to have. I really wasn't expecting it to last 10 minutes, ha. But, here we are over 1 year later and the thing runs fantastic. I paid $1500 bucks for it with 128,000 miles on it, and everything works perfectly. The only problem i noticed is that if you try to speed up too fast...the transmission will jump a little. ha But, it is by no means a sports car...so you don't need to be doing that anyway.

The XLT is definitely worth the extra few bucks but I am thoroughly disappointed with the longevity of the bed and front quarter panel in regards to the rust factor. Fords knows for rusting out, the bed body in particular is not the best of design. outside of that, the auto lock in hubs are amazing, the loaded cab is excellent, and the engine and drive train reliability all get high ratings in my book. 5 speed auto transmission would be nice however. For those of you who seem to be confused as to what 1/2 ton means, it is not the towing capacity but the weight of the trucks frame directly relating the strength of the frame to how bad you can beat on it by its weight and thickness of metal.

I love this truck

I have owned this truck since 1997. Had 23,000 miles when I bought it. Has 235,000 now. I just can't sell it. It has never let me down. The 300 six is un-stoppable. Ford should have never stopped building this engine. Mine is Black with gold accent. When shes washed and waxed, I still get comments on her great looks. Don't drive it much anymore, but like I said, I can't seem to part with her. Replaced one hydraulic clutch actuator, clutch and two alternators. That's it. Still runs like new. Best vehicle I have ever owned!

I own a 1995 F-150 XLT 4X4 Flareside Extended Cab with 123,000 miles, and it is a great truck. The 5.0 V8 makes it a blast to drive, the fuel economy isnt really that bad, and 4WD in the winter makes it pretty much unstoppable. Nothing ever goes wrong with it, it never needs repairs. The only parts I've ever put on it were tires, a ball-joint, oil, and filters. I always get comments and compliments about the way it looks. If u ever need a good truck to haul something, an old F-150 is a great choice.

This truck was either a lemon or a truck that had some really hard miles. I bought it used and it ended up needing a lot including, new starter, new clutch, new steering box, rebuilt rear end, new oil pan, new leaf springs and mounting brackets and it is rusting apart. Has only 98000 on it too.

I bought this pickup from my buddy. he talked me into it, even though I never liked Fords. The pickup was babied. It is very fun to drive with the 351 with 2 1/4 inch dual straights, no cats, no mufflers. Very loud! I actaully liked it until I hit a puddle and got water in the air intake and cracked a piston. They are not water proof. Im a redneck so I got hunting and fishing in it all the time and I havent seen a prairie trail too rough for it. All in all its a pretty good pickup, never had any problems except for the piston, my fault. Has 179k miles on it, solid runner. And I prefer manual lockouts, just because theyre more reliable, 4x4 on the fly. Works good. I reccomend this pickup.

My f150 now has 213,500 miles on it and still runs strong. I think Ford's biggest mistake was getting rid of the 4.9l 300 i6. Doesn't do good on fuel, but the engine had plenty of pickup and plenty of pulling power. I put a flowmaster 40 on it and it sounds great.

I would buy ten more if I could afford it. It's starting to lose a little power but it does have 220000 miles on it and everything works.

I have owned every truck in the Ford line, Ranger,2 Explorers, Bronco, 2xF150's. Without question, the 94-96 F150's is a better truck than most pickups available. Ford Trucks are as tough as the toe nails on an elephant except for the transmissions! The trucks will nickel and dime you to death with little problems such as rear end gears(not so little) wiper/window motors, lamps, lighting, fuses, wiring etc..... There was a failure of research and development because they are a pain to work on but I love them! I am forever a Ford man!

I paid $4500 last winter. I've only paid for oil changes. And I cleaned it in and out well because it smelled like a used car. Now it's nice, clean, easy to drive. I'd never buy a Ford car, but this old truck has been good and a good price. It's very under powered. I drive it easy and get 18 MPG with it's 5L V8. Snow, sand, and mud are like driving on pavement when in 4X4.

This has been an excellent vehicle. The only major repair I have made on this truck was a rebuilt transmission at 160,000 miles. Other than that I have replaced an alternator, a radial arm bushing, idler pulley and a few batteries. I drive this truck to work, M-F, around Atlanta. With 287,000 miles on it now, I could see this truck easily making 400,000 miles in a few years. AT 80 mph, the 5.8l still gets 15mpg. I like this truck so much I am starting the process of restoring it.

The Ford F-150 Eddie Bower is awesome to drive. I had the lighting package added by the dealer. I love my truck and I will never sell it. I brought it brand new in twelve years and have done all maintenance regular service at every 3,800 miles. Replaced 3 serpentine belts, the front brake pads twice, two sets of tires, 3 batteries, 3 sets of wiper blades, 3 sets of spark plugs and wires and one universal joint (Ford mistake). They uprgraded it. One factory recall - cruise control was bad. Fixed last year for free by Ford.

I found out that eBay was the best source for finding this year model used truck. Consumer Reports reliability survey results indicated that Ford was ahead of Chevy and Dodge for 1/2 ton, full-size truck models from the mid-90s. Except for 3/4 ton plus trucks, crew cabs weren't the rage in the mid-90s but at least the extended cabs on full-size trucks can hold three kids (or three adults in a pinch).

This truck will still outrun my 97 Vortec 350 Z71 Chevrolet with ease. The only parts that I have replaced on this truck are the starter and the alternator. It still gets me to work and through anything I need to get through when I'm hunting. This truck should be the role model for all other trucks.

This is an excellent truck. This is my third summer using this truck for projects and it can haul just about anything. Gravel, rocks, bricks etc... I have hauled well over 1.5 tons of sand in this supposed 1/2 ton truck and other than sitting a little lower than usual, drives and accelerates just fine. 4.9 inline 6 cylinder isn't going to win any races, but is perfect for towing and hauling. The 4.9 motor tows a 5500lb trailer better than my friends F150 with the V8.

I am the third owner. Only had 55,000 miles when I bought it. It was babied by the two previous owners. Love this truck. Drives well and is fun to drive. I haul a popup with it and just throw the stuff we need in the bed and off we go. Moved furniture and hauled mulch with it.

Ford's best engine ever

The long-stroke 4.9 liter six is the best engine (most durable and trouble free) Ford ever built. But, I must qualify that. It is durable and dependable, and it has tons of low-end torque. But, it hits its peak torque at only 2,000 RPM, so it has nothing left at the top end. It strains to go faster than 60-65 MPH. The truck is a typical Ford. Even though it only has 61,000 miles, lots of little things are popping up. Door handle hardware, door fit, vinyl upholstery wear, window knobs, EGR valve, interior trim panels, automatic locking hubs, all have broken. I think a truck should be more durable than that, but it probably is no worse than a Chevy or Dodge in that respect.

This vehicle has been parked or on a rack more than it has been driven. I have replaced the engine, trans, rear end, radiator, fuel pumps so far. I have tried to sell it three times in the Memphis area. Nobody is interested.

Bought from orig. owner. Truck was babied. Took it to Ford dealer for oil change, and 3 mechanics begged me to sell it. Hope to convert it to older lightning truck later, but it's still nice now. Unusual fact gold color, tan interior, mint condition. I'll have it a long time. Had rear differential bearings replaced due to roaring, otherwis no problems- 110,000 miles so go figure. Luv it. I just bought a 1995 F-150 4WD. It has the 5.0 V8 and lots of power. I love this truck and would tell anyone to get one just like it. I love to drive it and there is penty of power.I also tow a 16ft boat with it and it fells like the boat is not there. Ford did great with this model so go buy one

You have heard it from all the other reviews of the 1995 F150 but I have to kick in and repeat what a wonderful strong, reliable and cool vehicle this is. Over the years of our ownership I have never been let down by this truck and it has looked good in the process. I often find myself admiring its clean strong lines, it looks totally able to do anything and actually can. My truck is the straight 6 with the 5-speed and is the basic trim package with NO frills except air. This is what a truck should be at least for me. If you want value, style and ability this is your truck.

EXCELLENT TRUCK!. I HAVE A 4.9 STRAIGHT SIX WITH A 5 SPEED. THE ONLY FUSS IS REGARDING THE PLASTIC COMPONENTS USED IN THE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH SYSTEM. THE PLUNGER ROD THAT CONNECTS TO THE MASTER CYLINDER IS MADE OF PLASTIC. IT IS HELD IN PLACE WITH A PLASTIC BUSHING THAT WEARS OUT EVERY 30,000 MILES. THESE TWO CHEAP COMPONENTS CAUSE CLUTCH LOSS MORE OFTEN THAN ANY TRUCK OWNER WOULD EXPECT, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM IS EASY TO FIX. JUST TAKE THE PLUNGER ROD OUT OF THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND HAVE YOUR LOCAL MACHINE SHOP MAKE YOU ONE OUT OF STEEL. PROBLEM SOLVED. NOW YOU HAVE A BULLETPROOF 300,000 MILE TRUCK.

This vehicle was purchased used. Expect for replacing the shocks, this unit has had little down time Floats down the highway @ 65mile/hr. It has lots of extra power, nice pulling unit . Better gas mile come with a loaded box.

Big Red is my 2nd Ford truck. What can I say ? I love this truck! I bought in 2000 with 62k miles on it. Change the oil every 5k miles & filters once a year & you will never have a problem. Blackie was my '85 & a base model. Manual & straight 6. Classic. These 2 years were (imho) the best looking trucks in the last 20 years. I'm so glad that the '04 style looks like a truck again. Can't wait to see & get the 2005 !

This is my second Ford truck. The first a Ranger with over 250,000 miles. The F- 150 in the 5.0 version it's more of a lite duty truck. It will tow pretty well, but can be a tad under powered. I would have opted for the 5.8 vs. the 5.0 if I had it to do again.A very comfortable truck, lots of room, excellent heat and a/c,FAST power windors and good brakes. Steering is a bit on the touchy side on the hiway.Repairs have been few and relatively inexpensive, with nothing of any real consequence in the last 30K(my ownership period)I like the truck and in 8-10 years when I'm thru with this one I'll be looking for a "new" 2004. Hard to go wrong with a Ford Truck.

I have driven my Ford F-150 over 107,000 miles. It has the 4.9 Liter engine and 5 speed Manual Trans. Other than minor problems and I have never had a Major problem with the truck. Since I used this truck for mostly highway travel I still have the orginal brake pads on it.

My F150 is a head turner. It is a two- tone maroon and gray XLT. With raised white letter tires and chrome wheels; I have received a lot of comments on how good it looks. I am the third owner of this beauty. It is quite obvious that the previous owners babied this truck. It is almost perfect. My truck has a 5.8 L., automatic, 4X4,and of course it is hard on gas. But after reading some of the reviews about those who have 6 cylinders...I am getting about the same mileage...maybe a little less...but I have the pulling power I want.

I bought mine new in 1995 and it still looks as good today as it did when new. I still get a lot of compliments on it. Strong runner but some things happened to it that I didn't expect: oil pan rusted out (fixed under warranty), rear axle seal leaked, power steering hoses started leaking. Otherwise, it's been a great truck and just as comfortable as you could want. (still has the original battery and exhaust system). As one saleman said to me when he looked it over: "it's a keeper".

For an inexpensive vehicle this one has performed well, over 200,000 miles with an inline 6. A/C has never quit, easy to maintain. Manual Tranmission however does not allow for quick accelaration.
