I have owned the car for about 14 years. Repairs in that time have been about $5000. Most of which I consider normal repairs. the only unusual repair was the engine seals had to be replaced. Dripping a lot of oil. ( @ ~ 130,000 miles). Otherwise has been a great car and on the open road (freeway), it runs at about 30 MPG on regular gas. The air adjust ride started running on/off, so I replaced it with a set of standard air shocks and adjusted to my needs. Great since. Supercharger started getting a bit noisy, so I replaced the oil with a 50% mix of Lukas additive. Quieted it down quite a bit. For a car this size, the gas mileage is very acceptable.

Still in love with my Riv even after 100k mi!

I bought my Buick Riviera 10 years ago with about 80k on the tach, and now I have 184k miles on her with no major repairs, just minor things along the way like a water pump, fuel pump, battery, tires, and oh yes, we had to replace a CV joint on the front end (what do you expect after 100k miles??😄). Anyhow, this car has always been fun to drive, handles great, VERY dependable, sticks to the road like glue, and has all the creature comforts anyone would want! This car truly was ahead of its time, a friend of mi e has a 2000Lincoln Town Car that doesn't have HALF the features that my Riv has!! The only gripe I have about the car is the paint. It started going bad on me about 4-5 years after I purchased her, but I had it repainted (believe it or not that failed too, at least GM's paint lasted a hell of a lot longer than the repaint I had put on her😢). Anyhow it looks like this car is gonna be with us for quite a while, my daughter turned 16 last August and started driving the car, and now she's in love with the car!! I guess I will eventually turn the keys over to her, as attached to the car as I am right now, at least I will see someone getting her that loves her as much as I do!!

Love my Riv!

I've had my Riv for almost 4 years now. 178k mi on the clock. It was my first car and I've loved it since the day I got it. It was professionally repainted with some custom touches by my dad and I am asked what it is all the time. Its lightly modded with much more in the future and pulls excellent. My only expense aside from regular maintenance was the original Tranny died at 169k miles. A comment for other owners: I see alot of people having the Supercharger replaced at an expense of $800+. These Superchargers rarely fail. Most often it is a worn coupling which is available new for $30 and most mechanically inclined people could service it themselves. There are many write ups online!

Bought this mint condition car in Feburary 2002 and drove till Feburary of 2003. And in the 12 months I had replaced in this order: Struts, spark plugs, spark plug wires oil drain plug, supercharger, brakes, rotors, waterpump, headlights, radiator, coolent, rack and pinion, rear air shocks, leveling air compressor, climate control module, blower motor, transmission, harmonic balancer. It was using oil. it was $12,000 in repair bills . it had 125k hwy miles on it in 2002 and in 2003 it had 139k all hwy miles. Paid $7250 for the car and sold it for $3800. it was in the shop every week. I would not recomend this car to anybody it is a piece of absolute garbage.

Best used vehicle I've even owned!

I fell in love with the styling of the 1995 Riviera when it was first introduced. In 2007 I finally purchased a 1995 with 170,000 on the clock for a second car. That was four years ago and the Riviera now has 229,000 miles on it. This car is a pleasure to drive and I still can’t get over the sleek lines of the body and its beautiful interior. The only repairs its required so far is replace the idle pulley and serpentine belt along with the plug wires and spark plugs. That’s it except for regular fluid and filter changes. I check my mileage with every fill-up and the average ranges from 27 to 28 mpg. Long trips can yield anywhere from 28 to 32 mpg depending on the weather conditions and terrain. The car still rides and handles very well and the comfortable quiet interior makes long road trips enjoyable. In fact anyone that has ridden in the back seat has commented on how much room there is and how comfortable it is. Because of its looks a lot of people think it is something newly introduced and seem surprised when they find out its 16 years old. Even when compared to the Cadillac’s, Volvos, Audis and other cars I’ve owned, the Riviera has proven to be the well-engineered with the highest overall quality. If Buick still made the Riviera, I would definitely buy another.

We purchased our Riv with 50,000 miles on it. This car has been like a dream, ride is wonderful, no rust and it sits outside, no mayor problems. ABC went out a few years ago and decided to leave it. New gas line, manifold, plugs, exhaust, and starter. It does have an electrical problem, radio changes stations on its own! If anyone has ideas as to why,I would love to hear from you.Not bad for a 15 yr old with 218,000 on her!The outside is excellent but plastic parts inside are starting to break, vents etc.We love this car, they just don't make them like this anymore.

I offered a review 2.5 years ago, and I thought I'd give an update. Had to rebuild tranny nearly 1 year after purchase- $1800. That was a surprise, but nothing major since. Only expected, non-surprising things: replace radiator- $300, fix pssngr-side pwr window- $120, replace noisy supercharger- $750. I added custom-made cold-air induction, modified exhaust... car really screams now! Added 18" chrome wheels, manual air shocks, custom dark-blue paint with red pin-stripes, and a kick-butt sound system. I receive a lot of admiration, and I am always asked, "What kind of car is that?" I did lose the steering wheel control features due to factory sound system shorting out. I miss that luxury!

I purchased this car from a Buick dealership. It had 14,000 miles and was everything I had been looking for in a car. Over the years it has gone to college for four years, Prom, Weddings, corn fields, mud, snow, good and bad streets, carried teens, grandkids and dogs. Through it all, it has handled every situation with grace. The only "major repair" was the harmonic balancer. Outside of that, just regular oil changes, new tires, and air conditioner. My entire family loves the Riviera. We would buy it again and wish that Buick would continue the car, adding a four door version and make it a crossover. Oh, yes, it now has 140,000 miles and drives as if it was brand new.

I bought my car in '95. When I saw it I knew I had to have it. I have not been disappointed. In fact I have been quite surprised at the performance and comfort. I constantly drive from NY to Norfolk VA on a quarter of a tank of gas. I thought the gas guage was broken. But I have done it on numerous occasions and it is true. I love this car.

Basically I love to drive my Riviera with superb handling in year around Southern California weather. The interior is outstanding with all the needed controls on the steering wheel. On the down side, this is the only vehicle I have owned that can need repairs by just sitting in the garage. The mechanic bills have been frightning since I purchased it five years ago with apx 64,000 on it. I now have apx 95,000 on it and have put some $12,000 in it for repairs. Still love it!

I love my Riviera! It drives so smooth, even for an older car it is such a nice ride. The car is so beautiful, I get compliments on her everywhere we go. I was leary about buying because I knew that repairs would be expensive. She has had minimal problems and the parts weren't as expensive as I thought they'd be. Very comfortable interior! I can never live with out heated seats after having them with my Riviera. Definitely a must buy if you see one for sale, don't pass up the opportunity to own such a great car! You'd be missing out!

I purchased this car used with 43K, and it looked like it just came from the showroom. That was in 1998. It's now 2007 and it still looks brand new. I have never had anything done to this care other than routine maintenance. It's quiet, smooth, fast, comfortable and is the best car I have ever been in. It beats all the expensive imports any day. The mileage is great (30 mpg highway). It now has 112K and I won't consider parting with it. I think I will keep it forever. Buick, please make this car again!

I bought this car from an old friend, and I remember the day he got it, so I know it well. I've had it for one month, and I find driving it very enjoyable. The SC-V6 is powerful enough to effortlessly pull this big coupe, the tranny shifts smoothly. Amazingly quiet inside, leather seating is comfortable and very roomy throughout. Slightly short on headroom- definitely can't wear my cowboy hat while driving. Mine has the power split bench-seat option with column shifter. Changed struts, mounts and boots, so suspension is like new. Car is getting custom paint job. I have 18" chrome wheels and tires on order. Will have windows tinted soon and upgrade speakers. Overall a fun car to drive!

I bought my 1995 Riviera with 26,000 on it. It was pretty much trouble free until about 45,000 miles. Between 45,000 and 70,000 miles I spent about $5,000 on repairs. I really love the styling of this car, it's fast, ride is great, and I got 25-27 mpg on the highway. If you really want one, be prepared to spend a lot of money with your mechanic. You'll also need to be meticulous about scheduled maintenance. I sold mine in July of 2003. Fortunately if you're in the market for one, they're very reasonably priced.

I found a pretty much mint '95 Maroon (I swear if it was that ugly green or some dumb color, I might not have bought it) supercharged, fully loaded, from the factory chrome rims to the factory wood trim, (which adds so much character to the car) to the one touch sun roof, I just had to have this car. I'm going to be that guy at 50 who gets to say "Yup, I still got my first car and love this Riviera like it was the first time I laid eyes on it. We drove it cross country once. Boston to San Diego (2 week trip we will never forget) The Riviera made the trip even that much more fun. The seats are like sofas. If you can find a Riviera, buy it. I love my '95 Riviera.

I just stumbled upon this beauty in a Dodge Dealer's used car lot, and got a great deal because I guess nobody wanted a big car. Lucky me! This car is my favorite ever. Power, handling, fun, and a real head turner. It's not like all the other cars that all look the same. I've been asked countless times to sell it, but I wont. She's got 140K now, and drives like the day I bought it. The engine is great. one warning, fun costs money! The car is expensive. Since it's 10 years old, things are starting to break, but I'll just get it fixed and keep driving.

Since 160K, repairs starting coming, as can be expected, some which are expensive... but all in all, it's a great car, I loved it day 1, and I love it after 5 years. I bought my car at 80k.I have some problems with cruise control, rear window defogger switch and a coolant leakage. These can happen. But parts of this car are expensive.I paid 300$ for the rear fogger switch.Every repair starts from 100$ at the authorized service. But great interior design and outer design. I agree that interior design of Buick cars are bad but this one is exceptional. Gas mileage is poor, performance is fine, but could be better if the car is somewhat smaller. Reliability is same with any of the american cars I guess. If you want a more reliable car try honda or toyota but I cant find the design and fun to drive in them.

Bought car in prestine condition with 42,000 miles from local Buick dealership. Glad I purchased extended warranty because a lot has been repaired. I now have chosen to take it for repairs at another local dealership because the purchase location is dishonest and further from my home. I like the car, however, it is enormous and uses a lot of fuel.

Engine went at 78k, $3000 Car handles terrible not even close to being sporty in any sense of the word, does not like to be pushed at all. Rides Well Gets decent gas mileage especially on highway Great Exterior Styling Interior is poor for the price, GM usually has terrible interiors and this one is not that great. Low resale value means you if you can find one that is low mileage and in good condition you can get alot for your money. My engine failure was a fluke related to the pan leaking oil from some undercar damage that I was unware of and it starved oil to the main bearings spun a few out.
