Notes

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this 1994 Porsche 968 3.0L 6 speed manual 2 Door Cabriolet with only 54K original miles! The 968 was a much more refined and desirable incarnation from the earlier 944 with more power and refinement and which would prove to be a very collectible Porsche for the enthusiast to add to their collection not only due to its distinctive looks and being the last in the line, but also most importantly due to its very low production and consequent rarity!Built between 1992-95 with fewer than 651 Cabriolets in total built for the US market in 1994 alone, and with way fewer having the desirable G44 6 speed manual transmission, this is one very rare model! Production was virtually evenly divided between Coupes and Cabriolets. These were extraordinarily expensive cars when new ($55,530 list), in fact more money than the same year 1994 911 RS America Coupe ($55,525 list), and which would actually sell for way over sticker due to their rarity. The 968 is blessed with predictable handling thanks to the nearly 50-50 weight distribution that results from its front engine/rear axle design and it is therefore not difficult to drive fast! The 240HP DOHC four delivered the most torque of any aspirated four of its day with seamless power delivery that will impress any sports car enthusiast whilst remaining relatively economical with an EPA rating of 26 MPG on highways. All the expected modern features are present including dual front air bags, ABS and four piston calipers on all four disc brakes. The car also boasts a fully galvanized steel body from the factory and the 944S2 engine was fully refined with significantly lighter forged pistons and rods and with the doing away of the crankshafts heavy torsional rotation damper, improving considerably the engines responsiveness with Porsche's new Variocam technology. It compares well in every way to its modern day car competition whilst boasting an enduringly classic Porsche look and badge! This particular example is finished in this striking and classic color combination of original factory upgraded 'Midnight Blue Metallic' factory color paint (1 of only 103 in this color) and with its original 'Classic Gray' partial Leather interior and purchased with factory options including;M44 3.0L engineG44 6 speed manual transmissionSports Steering WheelAM/FM Radio with Cassette PlayerHiFi Sound Package with SpeakersAutomatic Speed Control1 of 681 produced for North America and 1 of 103 in Midnight Blue MetallicVery Rare model with limited production numbersMSRP over $55K new in 1994!Sport bucket seats5-spoke premium wheelsPorsche COA & Production Specs Folder with Porsche production specificationsMaintenance, warranty and owner's manuals included. This particular example was produced on 10/29/1993 and is a superb and extremely striking example in this rare classic color "Midnight Blue Metallic' over 'Gray' leather color combination and has obviously always been garaged and has no history of any accidents or damage and has a clean CARFAX report confirming both it's service history and low mileageThe original factory 'Midnight Blue Metallic' color paint is in absolutely exceptional condition as is the all original factory leather interior with a rare perfect dash and beautiful original factory carpets and the matching to the interior color Gray power top and tonneau cover are also in all original and excellent condition. The car drives exactly like a well maintained and serviced Porsche should and must be driven to be fully appreciated and seen to be believed! The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks, the very rare 6 speed manual transmission is very smooth and precise in shifting and the temperature always remains cool. The car will also be sold with all of it's original dealer books and manuals and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. You will look long and hard to find a finer and extremely rare 6 speed manual example of this exceptionally clean and increasingly collectible and desirable 1994 Porsche 968 Cabriolet with only 54K original miles available anywhere else! I couldn't think of a better used Porsche to purchase! The 50/50 front to rear weight ratio makes for astounding turning/handling capability. I would buy another! Actually, I found one with very low mileage, and did buy it. Wonderful car, with great gas mileage. 20-21 in town, and 25-29 on- the-road at 80 MPH. And people can't quite figure out what it is, so you get a lot of questions, and people talking to you at stop lights. Great fun! And don't forget to join the Porsche Club of America after you buy.

Put some stickies on this car, clean it up and go! Better than most drivers, really a civilized track car. If you can hit the apex the car will reward over and over. Needs regular, and expensive maintenance. Figure $2000 every 10,000 miles routine stuff, and another $3000 for whoops.

Convertible sports cars are fun!

The 968 Cabriolet is a hoot! It has great styling, goes when you step on the gas, and handles like it is on rails. It also has a practical side with a reasonable trunk (enough for a couple bags of golf clubs), and some storage space behind the seats. The 968 is well built and reliable. It was great as my every day driver. The engine seems bullet proof and runs as well with 100k miles as it did when I got the car.

My '94 968 coupe, shipped from Florida to Southern California, replaced an '88 924S that gave me 360K miles before some kid with the ink still wet on his license rear-ended me and totalled it. That car absorbed the jolt and I'm convinced it saved my life. The 968 is the ultimate evolution of the 924, and if there is is better handling, more fun-to-drive automobile on the planet it has to cost 10 times what you'll pay for a 968, assuming you can find one. Repairs are costly, but then again, things seldom break. If there isn't an independent shop specializing in old water-cooled Porsches nearby, think twice about buying. If there is, go for it! IMO, best-looking car ever.

The 968 is one of the great "secrets" of the Porsche world. It's fast, reliable, comfortable, even reasonably economical (> 20 mpg), and most of all blessed with _superb_ cornering. The twisty-road handling is so agile and graceful that it's easy not to realize how fast you're going. It has the precision feel of a surgeon's scalpel; a Corvette feels heavy and clunky in comparison. Another fun aspect: the 968 is one of the rarest Porsche models, so few people know what it is. It's a gorgeous car and people realize it's something exotic, it's fun to watch them try to figure out what it is. Watch out for people driving erratically while they cruise by staring at your 968 (not kidding).

This is one of the best Porsches ever made. It is rock solid. It is fun to drive with its 6-speed transmission. You must try one to understand. It is sad they don't make one like this anymore.

My requirements were ragtop, under 20k, ability to do some maintenance myself, good performance couldn't be something you see everyday, and it had to have head turning ability. The 968 Cab fit the bill in every way.....very low production numbers, excellent handling and speed, a very religious following, and turns more heads than anything else I was looking at because there are so few on the roads. Hope you find something that puts a smile on your face every time you turn the key.

The 968 is an excellent car. It has reasonable get up and go, and corners as if on rails (good tires are important). A stiff suspension benefits the handling characteristics, but this leads to a bit of a harsh ride. It's quality and reliability are excellent (exceeded my expectations). As far as sports cars go, it is among the most practical, with plenty of interior room and a reasonably sized trunk such that the car is good for every day needs.

4th Porsche owned and love this one the most. 911 is more fun to drive but this is a perfect combination of design, performance and fun.
