Bought my '92 Paseo 3 years ago for $550. I now have over 340K miles on it and it's going strong. It looks great, is fun to drive, and I get over 40 mpg. It's required maintenance (tires, brakes, shocks, spark plugs, etc) but no major repairs. It's currently 23 years old and I see no end in sight.

Cheap to repair/insure/put gas in. If you drive under 10k miles a year this is a great car. I have driven across country x2 in it (for new jobs) and have had no issues with it. Bought at 115k miles now at 150k and only had to replace the brakes/tires,

I bought my 1992 Toyota Paseo 6 months ago at the end of my sophomore year of high school and as a 16 year-old I was pretty nervous about this purchase. I soon fell in love with this car because of its color, cute style, and of course because it's a standard! I bought the car with 165,000 miles and have had only two problems with it (in the course of 3,000 m): the gas peddle became partially detached and only worked when depressed halfway (peddle to the metal), my mother was able to fix this by adjusting the bolt; and the alternator belt needed replacing (which oddly set off the brake light). I get between 31mpg town and 44 highway, which I love. I find this car perfect for me.

My uncle gave me his car which is toyota paseo '92. At first, I found it really cool. I like the features and style. Good thing I know how to drive stick shift so my uncle gave me the title of the car as a gift. It's my first car ever. I love the performance though there some few problems with it,. but I never turned me down yet. A friend of mine who has a car shop told me that it won't last for a week when we heard the harsh sound from the engine. And now, it was like 8 months and it's still running. From this car, I learned how to troubleshoot some failures such as checking fuses and changing batteries. I would never exchange this car. I will make it look more cool.. ^_^

I recently purchased a 1992 Toyota Paseo and I couldnt have been happier with the performance and reliability. I have 245,000+ on mine and I look forward to 300,000. I just replaced both c.v. axles and needs a T.P. Sensor, but other than that the car gets EXCELLENT gas milage and has gotten me from a - b without a problem. Too bad they don't make them like they used to.

My dad bought me this car as my first car I've only had it for like 3 months and let me tell you I LOVE IT! It's a good car it runs great. At first I was kinda sketchy about it kuz it's a '92 and I thought it was a punishment to drive a car that old but now I don't even want to change cars at all. Its gets good mileage I fill it up once a week so it's really good for people that are on a budget (Like me). Final story If you have a chance to get it you should=D

Stylish but built to last.

184,000 miles and still cruising with fabulous gas mileage, peppy performance, minimal maintenance, and classic style. Sticker mileage was 19/23. But have always gotten 33/36. Heavy expressway traffic or Chicago blizzards might lessen that a bit. Almost zero problems - in 18 yrs, have paid only $6869 for all maintenance, including oil changes, flat tires, headlamps, et al. My friends keep telling me that "this car won't last." But they've been telling me that for the last 10 years. Though it's not the most luxurious, in 18+ years, this car has started every day (even today when it was 10 degrees). Like a young horse, fresh from the stable, it's always rarin' to go.

I saw this car when I was in my senior year of college down in Florida, and had to get it. I leased it at $200.00 a month for 5 years (remember that???) figuring I'd beat the hell out of it, and move on. Problem was, I averaged over 40K miles a year so I had to buy it! All told, I'm guessing I put about 300k to 325K miles on it in the 12 years that I had it. I gave it to a friend, whom I lost touch with and for all I know, it is still running to this day. Mine was a 5 speed with a small 1.5 liter engine. I averaged close to 40 mpg when I had it. Toward the end, it used about a quart of oil every thousand miles or so, and leaked antifreeze, but it always started up.

Will always drive a Toyota

My first vehicle was a 1986 Toyota 4x4 truck. When I was looking for a new car I only looked at Toyotas since I had never had a bad experience. Bought the car at 220,000 km in August 2004 from original owner, it is now over 300,000 km and still runs beautifully. I've had many offers on it, and a good friend bought the exact same car since he liked mine so much. It starts up on the coldest days (I've left it outside overnight in -45C conditions), however doesn't like icy roads.

I'm writing this in tribute to my old faithful Toyota Paseo. After 14 years together it has left to live with another family that is going to restore it. The Paseo was my first car out of college, has traveled all across the country and has been a faithful and reliable friend. After nearly 300,000 miles, I cannot say enough words about what a wonderful small, affordable car it has been. The only repairs done on it have been from normal wear and tear. Once refurbished, I'm sure its new family will get another 200,000 miles out of it. Viva Paseo!

This has been a backup car and gas saver for myself, family, and friends over the past 5 years. It has been through numerous trips all over the Eastern US, from New England to Florida, as well as a daily commuter around town. I bought it with 216k miles on it, and have put over 200k of my own on. Still has the engine, transmission, and clutch I bought it with, which may be the originals. Burns half a quart of oil for every tank of gas, but I'm still getting 30+ mpg, and it still starts every day. Major repair was welding an exhaust flange back to the pipe. That's it.

Blue Thunder was once a baby back in (Aug.) 92 when I first got her. She was shiney, full of power (up to 100 horses worth) and had that spark in her eye. She was blue, not sad, but in color! She took me for a ride, and I was in heaven, been on this same ride ever since.

This is a great car for the average driver who doesn't need too much speed or acceleration. great on mileage, great handling, comfortable driver and passenger seat, but not so much the 2 back seats. Simple, yet very satisfying interior. roomy trunk, fun moon roof. Very very convenient. However, bumpy ride. Very loud engine, vibratesm bad acceleration, but overall, an A grade.

I bought my Paseo in October 2002, it had about 78k miles at the time, now it's at 116k. This has been the most reliable car I've ever owned, period. It's starting to look a little rough, but the engine & tranny (automatic) both feel like they could go another 100k.

I bought my '92 Paseo in July 1998 from the original owner. It was in great shape on only had 40k miles on it after 6 years. I've had several SUVs since then and after the latest gas price spike, parked the SUVs and have been driving this. I drive 35 miles one way to work daily. I was paying $75 week for gas in my Yukon XL but now spend $20-25. I am a single parent and the extra money helps. I would recommend this car to anyone on a budget as long as they don't have more than 1 or 2 small children. This is my weekday car. I love it!!!!!

I bought this car recently due to high gas prices. I had owned Subarus in the past, and heard good things about Toyota. I was looking for a sporty coupe, and this filled the bill. Very reliable, fun to drive. Basic maintenence. Good MPG. Sporty looking and fits in my garage nicely.

I absolutely love my 92' Paseo. I've had her since she was brand new. For me this car is ideal. Im 5'1, so those complaining its not that comfortable, for me it is. She fits into any parking space (although sometimes hard to find behind the giant SUV's. haha), drives like a champion, and doesn't look that bad. I have beat her up a little, she's been hit before, but still - shes like a tank! I don't want to get rid of her, but it's time to move on. I love her - but I need airbags. And she kinda scares me in the snow - here in NY winters can be brutal - and she's so light, she can blow away.

I got my Paseo from a friend, who got it from an older gentleman who used it for a year and a half. When I got it, all it needed was a new air hose (hard to find but we synthesized it) and some rubber transmission seals that had worn down. When those were fixed, the car ran fine. It has a roomy seat for the driver and passenger, but the rear is a little tight for taller people, but perfect for kids. The engine is steady and reliable, and the features easily excessible. Ex: The spark plugs are readily available for changing right after you open the hood. I would recommend this car for a new couple or a kid learning how to drive a stick.

I bought my paseo used at a toyota dealer who owned it and used it as a messenger car. This car is 15 years old and have not given me any problems at all. Before I bought it, I asked my dads advice about buying a first year car. He said, if Toyota owned it, whatever problems that car had, you can be sure that Toyota fixed it. There is no flaw about this car. The paint and interior is in good condition. I must agree with the other reviews that this car is very small and you can not have back seat passenger. I use to go on 6 hr trip with this car and it is really hard on the back. But, if you are just driving around town or doing errands with this car, $20 last a long time

Bought this car as a fuel saving alternative to my Silverado. Gas savings paid for car in 11 months. Fun to drive and at 32 city 40 hwy I can go a lot more. Previous owner stated over drive was shot. New thermostat fixed the problem. Seems to be almost a cult following of Paseo owners. Installed new struts at 120,000 miles. It only took an hour and I'm not a professional mechanic. I'll keep this car as long as I can keep it running. It only asks for a little gas, 3500 mile oil changes, and a new air filter every so often. Have had a problem with rear light fuse MELTING. This has happened twice and I've not found the problem.

I have to say that although this is not the most comfortable or fast car i have ever driven, it is certainly the most reliable. There wasn't a day that the car didnt start for me regardless of how much i didn't take care of it. My main gripe however is with the interior styling. The car in the automatic version at least, did not come with an arm rest. The particular car i bought also did not have tilt stearing. This made the driving experience a little uncomfortable in general and especially for long trips. Would i buy one again? Yes i certainly would. In fact, i plan to when the time comes. Once again... if reliability is what you are after... this is your car.

I bought my Paseo in August 1992 as my first car and still have it, 129,000+ miles later. I had to replace the water pump in mid 1996, and the air conditioning system began having leaks in 2004. Aside from that, just normal stuff like replacing worn brakes and tires. I get the oil changed about every 4,000 to 6,000 miles. Still has all original engine parts. It's a manual transmission, but the clutch still works great. I paid off the loan for it in April 1996 and hope it lasts at least another 10 years! Has been a great first car; as a used car, would be super for a teenager: reliable, gas efficient, sporty-looking.

I drive my 92 Paseo 150 miles per day and have been for about 6 months. Sure...its small on the inside, the backseat is really not for anyone taller than 5 feet, but the car is the perfect commuter vehicle for one or two people. Its gas mileage is rivaled by only a few cars - most of which are high tech hybrids. The motor is small, but it doesn't have to haul much car, so its also spunky and fun to drive. If this one dies, I'm going to look for one just like it. all hail Toyota engineering!

Now the battery went dead, and I am towing it to the dealer since I did not drive it for one year! Still the best car I ever had.

When my wife and I buy a car we alternately pick. The paseo was her choice and it has been a winner. We bought it new and have over 150 thousand miles on it. It still has all original equipment, For years I drove it 98 miles a day back and forth to work and never once experienced a breakdown. It still averages about 39 miles a gallon. The interior is a little cramped for my size and the seatbelts ... could be better.

Man, what a great car. I've had it going on 4 years now. I haven't taken care of it like I should, but it has never failed me. I went 10000 miles without an oil change once and it had no problems. Alas, it is on it's last legs. The cv joints have been going out for the past year, and I don't think they will hold much longer. I wish I had the money to really take care of it, but I can truthfully say I will miss it and that it will probably be the best car I'll ever own.

(She has been hit and run on her rear- end twice sitting @ home in her own parking space). She is a kick to drive and still looks great. All of the engine is still original parts, I have done basic maintenance and new tires. She has over 116,000 miles on her and still running strong! She has been and will continue to be my great Little ol' Blue.(She is actually teal but my son and I gave her that name a long time ago).

I have just moved up to a brand new Toyota, but it is with regret that I leave behind my wonderful Paseo. I've had this car since my freshman year in college, when I bought it from a relative with 29K on it. Now, with 144K on the odometer, we part ways, but not because the car failed in any way. It was just time for power windows. I was still on the original clutch. No engine problems. Not a single one. I saved a lot of money keeping this car around. All my friends went through several used cars, and I just kept driving the Paseo. I could always snag the smallest parking space in the city that everyone else had to pass up. I will miss this car.

This Paseo is the best. Mine is black and has recently been nicknamed 'the bullet.' Bulletproof is more like it, this car has never had a major repair since we bought it in 1991. Living in Manhattan this is the perfect car to dart in and out of traffic and it fits in the smallest parking spots. It will kill me to get rid of it but I'm afraid we are outgrowing it..if they made a paseo wagon I would buy one!! What a great car, and we only have 85K miles on it so it should last another 10 yrs easy!! I'll have to find a place to keep it so we can hang onto it forever.

I can't say enough about this car. She was born ten years ago and I've had her from day 1. Ten years and 178,000 miles later it still never dissapoints. I still get 35 miles to the gallon and it turns over every morning no matter how cold. Never had a major repair. It still has the original clutch! I'm getting ready to pass her on to a family member who was 6 years old when the car was born. It's gonna break my heart.

This has been my commuter car for a little over a year. I haven't had a single problem with it. It handles very well and has just enough power to fight through traffic. The gas mileage is awesome. I average about 37mpg.

My Toyota Is the best little car i ever drove. With gas prices today it cost very little to fill it and a full tank lasts forever. The Paseo is a good little car for someone who is short, They were not made for tall people. espcially the back seat. You can get parts very easalily at any automotive parts seller.

I bought my '92 Paseo with 102K miles on it. It now has 130K miles on it. All I have ever spent on it was oil changes. =) It is as reliable as it gets.
