I bought this car for very cheap used. As I was short of money at the time but still wanted some power this was very enticing. The 4.5 V8 has a lot of get up and go. the suspension is quite soft so it usually feels like you are accelerating faster than you really are. For me, the engine has been very reliable. There has been very few fixes and none too serious. That being said, this is not an easy car to work on. there isn't a lot of room under the hood and if you have gorilla hands as I do it can be pretty tough. This car really shines when the interior is considered. After being spoiled with such comfortable seats for a long time any other car just isn't as nice. I stand 6' 3" and sit comfortably in the front and back. The seats are very plush and everything feels like solid construction. Overall a great car. I have fallen in love with older Cadillacs. Im approaching 200k and still going strong. Love this car

I like Cadillacs because they hold up well. I have owned 3 and all three have done well. One went to 100,000 miles with only a exhaust repair and fuel injector repair. Now as far as foreign cars. My BMW 5 series 99 model went to 100,000 miles and by that time I had spent over 7,000 dollars on repairs, not including normal maint! Same thing happened with a Jag I owned. These foreign cars also cost more to own, purchase, so don't go telling me they are cheaper and hold up better. Regarding my now gone BMW, yes the engine and ride was great, but everything else was junk after 50,000 miles. Those are the facts I learned about domestic and foreign cars I have owned.

Why I bought a Cadillac.

When I bought my 1990 Cadillac Sedan deVille in 2000 it had about 101,000 miles on it. It now has about 198,000 miles on it. With the exception of the parts that eventually wear out, it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. It still gets around 28 MPG, (it got about 30 MPG when I bought it). The only complaint I have is the accessibility of the spark plugs but that is a moot point when considering the amount of I've spent on maintenance.

Great car. I paid 1 grand 6 months ago for it for a starter car. It sat in some guy's drive way for 2 years, I put a new battery in it and it fired right up after I cleaned all the birds nest and hornet nest from it. just took it on a 3000 mile round trip and ran great with 125,000 miles on it. got about 24-26 miles to the gallon and get about 19 around town. It seems to lose hub caps and trim every time i drive after i take out of the shop.

One sweet car. I average 25.8 miles to the gallon. Preventative maintenance is key. I clean my injectors and throttle once every six weeks. I simply remove the air filter and spray about half a can of throttle or fuel injector cleaner inside while the engine is running. My car idles flat/no misses. I spray inside the PCV valve, also. Brand new ACDelco throttles are available on ebay for $99.00. Relace motor mounts to restore engine performance. Keep the EGR valve clean or replace and only used distill water for coolant changes. I have 145,000 miles on mine and it performs and rides great. Ensure all vacuum hoses are leak free and on tight. This car will last 250,000 miles easy.

I inherited this car when my sweet mom passed on. I never worried about her when she was in this car and that's a good feeling. The only car I ever new this reliable I still have.My 59 super88 oldsmobile. Those however are hard to come by today but you can find a 90 Caddy at a good price and if you take care of it it will take care of you and it will do it inexpensively. They are so much fun to drive also. You`ll never go back to a little car if thats what you have now..Use premium fuel,it`s overall cheaper and I bet you`ll be driving it still, maybe even when it`s 50years old...

The 1990 Cadillac Deville is one of the best American cars in history! I just got this car from my grandparents with a little over 153,000 miles. Even with the high amount of miles it runs great. I pretty sure the water pump has gone out though. The car will rocket to speed very eaisily. It gets about the same gas miliage as my brothers 1994 Chrysler LHS ant it only has a 3.5 litre V6. Overall the 1990 Cadillac DeVille is a great and reliable car.

Dad had to almost pay the dealership to take this car, so he gave it to me. I'm 30, two kids, so no payment vehicle is a plus, but to my surprise this is an amazing car. Down side is gas milage, and locks for the car seats. Upside, reliability, and I can still fix 90% of the problems cause everything isn't computerized like my 2003 Impala. Good ride, Nice features for a 1990. More so than my 2003 really. Good solid engine with massive power. A real good car.

Perfect. Drives great and does not want you to turn off the key. This car is so smooth and user friendly that you just don't want to ever stop driving. I have no plans for selling this 1990 Caddy. The four door and space available can not be traded for anything.

I'd noticed the Devilles for a long time and really was attracted to the styling. It's a timeless design and my 1990 still looks very contemporary. The paint has held-up well and it still looks impressive. The car gets great gas mileage about 22mg total, and nearly 26mpg on the highway. The interior is comfortable, but dated-but it has a vintage feel, so I love it. The handling is amazing as far as the rear end refuses to budge, but it does tend to lean, body roll, in curves. All-in- all, this car was a great value-younger people (Im 38) don't want these cars, so you can get them with low miles and in great aesthetic shape. We call mine "Herman" and I hope he's got another 100,000 in him

I bought this car from a " little old lady " after 4 years and 40,100 miles. I now have 218,000 miles on it and will drive it sparingly along with my 2002 DeVille. The car has flown way above any expectations that I could have possibly dreamed it would do. Reliability, design, performance, you name it....all have been tremendous. Some one mentioned the vinyl armrests- it's true. They started to crack a few years ago. The only downer , and a mild one, of an otherwise superb model. The best car I've ever owned and a true testament to the quality of Cadillac. I hope my "other" Caddy comes close to the same standards of the old '90.

This is my wife's car. She loves her 90, the way it looks, handles, parks, and rides. When the cruise control quit I thought she would simply die. Otherwise, it has been trouble free. It now had 123,000 miles with no major repairs other than brakes and struts. s

I purchased this car whe it was twelve years old with 100,000 miles on it. It was very comfortable to ride in, its handling was good (for a car this size), and its power was adequate. This was the first year of multport fuel injection bumping the HP from 155 to 180, something the car definately needed. The backseat is HUGE! The power pulldown trunk is a cool feature. The digital dash was nice, as the analog only goes to 85 MPH. Its gas mileage averaged 15 MPG, in combined city/hwy driving. With high gas prices and these cars requiring premium, it wasn't a good mix. Its body has a nice classic shape. The rear-window is limo-like. Its small, and high rear shelf gives the car a more "private-car" look/feel. The A/C controls are oddly placed thhough.

When I finally had it with foreign make cars, I found this beauty at a used car lot and to my surprise, it was very cheap. It was only cheap because the driver door didn't open at all. After a test drive, I knew I had to have this car. It had about 121, 000 miles on it but drove like it had only 1,000. Everytime I get into it, I feel nothing but pure relaxation and like I can drive for days at a time. It still needs some minor work, but I am making this classic my new hobby and gonna restore this thing to it's orginal beauty.

Owned for about 7 yrs - had 23,000 mi then, now 158000. Used to get 26 mpg on highway. Very comfortable with plenty of power and we love the style and color. We love it but have had mechanical issues - new radiator, replace fuel injectors, rebuild transmission, load leveler work required, antenna motor gone out and other minor issues. Currently heater- air conditioner relation is squirrely. Even through all of that we still find it hard to give up so plan to run it for many more miles.

I have had several Cadillacs over the years. Each one seems to be a little better than the last in some way or another. I drove this car on a 2,500 mile trip with no issues at all and averaged 26 mpg on the highway at 75 mph. If you are looking for a pretty reliable car for not a lot of money, this is one to consider. It has 142,000 miles and counting.

I love my 1990 Cadillac DeVille in just about every way. I bought it in 2002 with 55,000 miles on it, and have had little or no trouble with it, until recently. I put a third new battery in it yesterday...the third one in eleven months. I've taken it to two different mechanics, and they can't explain why the batteries are going bad on me. Since I have two small children, I may have to sell it since I need something reliable. I love the car in every way, with the exception of the recent reliability problems.

The classic lines of the 1990 Cadillac DeVille exude elegance and the responsive engine responds to to the depression of your foot with out hesitation. It is a beatiful thing and an incredibly reliable car, despite the age and cannot be replaced today when you compare the value. If you can find one you to will know what it means to drive a Cadillac. This is the kind of car that has helped Cadillac stay on top. The interior space is unrivaled even by limo standards. My wife and I love to drive this car on long trips and arrive fresh and not tired. Another great, well kept secret is that the car is a monster in the snow. Teenagers get a big surprise at red lights when I leave them in my review mirror in their Ford Mustang 5.0.

My late Stepfather originally owned this car, and true to form of older persons it was driven mostly to the "club" and to church; only 49,000 miles as of 01/2004. Although cars such as Cadillac are criticized as having poor fuel economy, my DeVille gives average highway fuel figures of between 21-22 mpg in winter conditions- with commanding passing power when needed. This is much better than a co-worker's Escalade SUV which is lucky to achieve 14-15 mpg in the same conditions- and he would rather that we take my DeVille out for lunch because he says it's much more comfortable!

Our Cad is a member of the family. She has taken us to Las Vegas many times, to Reno, Lake Tahoe, St.Helen's Ore. and Abbotsford B.C. often. Never any kind of problem. Comfortable, still tight as a new car, quiet, totally reliable, AND looks good like a quality car should. With her high mileage we are now selling her with the knowledge that whoever buys her is getting a great car. My wife loves her and hates the thought of giving her up.

No mayor mechanical/electrical problems. Favorite Sunday Drive car at home, specially for long trips. Safe and confortable. Can sit eight!! We love it
