If youre an F-body fan (like we are) then you have likely noticed the rise in respect and values that the third generation (1982-1992) Camaros and Firebirds are getting. Enthusiasts have realized what great driving cars these stylish sports cars are. And part of the allure must be the cool 80s styling. Here we have a 1985 Pontiac Firebird thats a rare bird in a number of ways. First off, its a regular Firebird in pristine condition, not a Formula or Trans Am, making it an even rarer bird sighting. Secondly, it has the fuel-injected V6 with the 5-speed manual gearbox powertrain, making for a sprightly yet fuel-efficient ride. Thirdly, in addition to having the rare stick shift, it also has a special-order Bittersweet Orange interior rather than the much more common and boring beige or gray.Did we mention this is a one-owner car that only has 20,290 miles on the odometer? It was rust-proofed (Rusty Jones) when it was new, was never smoked in and was never driven in the winter. That original and only owner recently passed away, and the family decided to sell the car so that someone else could enjoy it rather than having it sit unused in the garage. The original body is as rock solid as youd expect of a pampered, very low mileage example. The original white paint gleams and the bird still flies on its original Rally wheels. The underside is clean and dry as well, further testament to the great care this Firebird has received from day one. Back in the day rear window louvers on F-bodies were as common as Jordache jeans and Reeboks, and this car has them. It also has the iconic T-roof too, for more fun in the sun.Inside, the original interior is in beautiful condition, and the seats are cloth rather than the more typical vinyl seen in standard Firebirds. Youll also see that it has the optional AM/FM/Cassette audio system but not A/C (thats what the T-top is for!). You may notice that the door armrests are not warped and that the headliner and dash pouch are not sagging, which is uncommon for these third gen cars. With the energetic V6 that punches above its weight and the 5-speed stick, this Firebird is a hoot to drive, likely more fun for driving enthusiasts than a V8 hooked up to an automatic. With such low mileage and having been treated so well, the Firebird runs and handles great. Note that the original build sheet, original title, the owners manual, and owner history all go with the car.If you always wanted a minty fresh, T-topped third gen Firebird then this is your chance. There just arent many that are this nice so we dont expect this car to last long. For more information or to schedule time to see this fantastic Firebird, just give us a call at 603-627-5595.
