There are various reasons why the touchscreen of your Chevy Trax might stop functioning, depending on the way it's malfunctioning. Whether you're experiencing a black screen, a blue screen, or the screen is not responding to your touch, it signifies a problem, but each issue is typically caused by different factors. A black screen suggests a power issue, often due to wiring problems or a malfunctioning head unit. On the other hand, a blue screen indicates a software malfunction, which can be resolved by having the software reinstalled by a dealer. An unresponsive screen may signal damage to the digitizer, and unfortunately, there's usually no cost-effective fix for this problem. Attempting to replace the digitizer may be an option, but it's commonly more economical and simpler to replace the entire unit.

I found a solution that required linking up with OnStar and then disconnecting to reset my radio when the touchscreen was not functioning. This method successfully resolved the issue with my own radio.

You might simply need to give it a good cleaning to make it work, but if that doesn't do the trick, you may have to reset the system. If all else fails, you'll have to get a replacement.
