In case the touch screen on the VW Tiguan stops working, it might be because of a faulty wiring connection, blown fuse, or software problem. Any issues with the electrical interface could be due to a blown fuse. To locate the fuse for the radio or touchscreen, refer to the owner's manual. Additionally, the system may require a reboot to fix a software glitch or a problem with the VW's technology. To reset the touch screen on the Tiguan, press and hold the power button on the radio located below the digital display for 10-15 seconds. This will cause the stereo to turn off, displaying a black screen with a ticking clock symbol. After the reboot is done, the screen will turn back on, and the reset may restore the display's functionality.
The touch screen in the 2017 VW Tiguan might cease functioning because it requires a reset to fix the issue.
Ignore the dealer's suggestion to spend $1,000 or more on a new touchscreen if yours is the issue. Instead, easily access your navigation system by entering the address on your phone and connecting via Bluetooth. Just request Navigation and the destination name. You're welcome.
I've been dealing with this issue for nearly two years now. I was informed that a patch will be released to fix the 2017 Tiguan. The radio in my car is not supposed to need maintenance, so I don't want to switch it out on a five-year-old vehicle. My 22-year-old car still has its original radio and has never given me any problems. I think we should unite as a group to address this. There's strength in numbers.
I've been dealing with the same problem on and off for the past two years. Currently, none of the touch screen functions are working, including the buttons. When attempting to connect Apple CarPlay, I can't even select the option to link to my phone - it's incredibly frustrating. My vehicle is just five years old, so this situation is unacceptable!
@kiki, can you please provide instructions on how to access the touch screen on your phone? Which address should be entered for this function?
Thanks for the tip. All it took was holding down the power button for 15 seconds, and everything is working fine now.
$1,000! That's a great price. Sinclair VW in Swansea gave me a quote of $2,000 for the replacement. Can you believe it, being a woman and all?
For my 2017 Tiguan, I pressed and held the power button (while the radio was playing) until the screen turned off. Once the logo reappeared, I let go of the power button and was able to operate the buttons. I repeated this process while the radio was in MEDIA mode to switch CD tracks.
Every vehicle produced by Porsche, including VW and Audi, is equipped with top-notch engines, but unfortunately, the radio systems are subpar and tend to malfunction after a few years. Having owned cars from all three brands, I consistently encountered this issue.
