There could be a variety of reasons why the remote start feature is not functioning properly in the Cadillac SRX. It could be a simple issue such as a depleted battery in the key fob, an unlocked door, the vehicle not being in park, an open hood, or having attempted more than two remote starts. Alternatively, the problem could be more complex, involving malfunctioning keyless entry transmitters or faulty anti-theft systems. For instance, if the key fob battery is dead, it typically requires a CR2032 battery. Troubleshooting steps may include locking the doors, ensuring the hood is closed, or verifying that the vehicle is in park. If the issue lies with the keyless entry transmitter, it may need to be replaced.
Remote starting will be disabled in the presence of an illuminated check engine indicator.
I changed the battery in my key fob but the car is still not starting.
If the check engine light is illuminated, the remote start feature on a Cadillac SRX may not function properly. If the light is not on, you might be required to change the battery in the key fob for it to work.
Is it possible to initiate the push start feature in a 2011 Cadillac SUV without using the remote?
I've replaced both the key fob battery and the car battery, and also looked over all the door locks, hood, and parking brake - but the car still won't start.
Make sure to inspect the battery in your key fob to see if it is inserted incorrectly.
My car had a similar issue. I had to go to the dealership to have the codes cleared out!
Make sure to inspect your key fob because the car can have a total of 8 key fobs, but only fob numbers one (1) and two (2) are eligible for remote start function. Key fobs numbered 3 to 8 will not work for remote starting the car. You can visit the dealership to reprogram all key fobs so that you can use numbers 1 and 2 for remote start.
Make sure to lock your doors before using this feature, as it only functions with locked doors as a safety precaution.
Simultaneously press the lock and unlock buttons to reset the transmitter. With one simple press, I heard a click from my car door and it started immediately.
If your car won't start due to a stored diagnostic code or a check engine light being on, it won't start even if the light is off. You need to clear all the trouble codes (DTC) to fix this issue, which is easily done by disconnecting both terminals of the car's battery and touching the positive and negative cables together for at least 60 minutes using vise grips. This process drains the ECM's storage batteries and resets all the computer's diagnostic functions, clearing the codes. After an hour, reconnect the battery cables to their correct positive and negative sides, tighten them, and your car's remote should work again.
I was informed that the cruise control and automatic start features will not function if the vehicle has a check engine light on or an error code pulled until the issue is fixed.
Change the battery in the key fob, and the car still won't start; even after replacing the car battery, there is no response.
