The crankshaft position sensor for a 2012 Audi A4 is located on the left side of the engine, behind the air intake hose near the transmission. Even though it can be challenging to access, you can take it out by using a T30 torque socket with a swivel extension and ratchet. Start by releasing the tab on the electrical connection and disconnecting it from the sensor. Then, unscrew the torque screw that secures the sensor to the engine block by turning it counterclockwise. You might need to gently jiggle the sensor to remove it from its position. When installing the new sensor, tighten the screw until it is secure, but be careful not to overtighten it as this could damage the sensor.
The sensor can be found on the block right behind the oil filter.
You can locate the crankshaft position sensor for the 2012 Audi A4 underneath the car's engine, close to the timing cover.
