While most of the relays in the 2001 Chevrolet Tracker are situated in the engine compartment, the starter relay is not found there. In the relay box, you'll see the shift lock relay, the horn relay (specifically on the 2.5L engine), the air conditioning compressor relay, and the air conditioning condenser fan relay. The starter relay is actually a solenoid, which serves a similar purpose but functions somewhat differently. To locate the solenoid, start by finding your starter and tracing the black and yellow wires to a nearby component, which is your solenoid. Typically black and gold in color, and always cylindrical, once you've located it, you can carry out additional diagnostic tests to determine if it is the source of the issue.
