Chevrolet

The coolant temperature sensor on the 2006 Dodge Cummins can be found towards the back of the cylinder head, positioned just below the air intake on the driver's side. If you're facing the engine from the front driver side fender, the sensor will be located a few inches above the starter motor and to the right of the fuel filter. This sensor transmits data to the computer, which then analyzes the information and makes adjustments to other components' performance. A malfunctioning sensor may make the computer incorrectly perceive the coolant temperature as normal, potentially causing the cooling fan not to activate. This oversight can result in overheating and potential engine damage. Furthermore, a faulty sensor can lead to issues like hard starting and rough idling.
