The 2017 GMC Sierra is equipped with a standard H7 battery which is widely available at most auto parts stores and some larger retail chains that offer car batteries. Nowadays, there are two main types of batteries in the market: AGM and traditional lead acid. While lead acid batteries require maintenance, AGM batteries do not. AGM technology features a sealed gel battery that is more durable, longer-lasting, has higher cold cranking amps, and is less prone to damage compared to lead acid batteries. The drawback of AGM batteries is their higher cost compared to the older lead acid style.
In 2017, the GMC Sierra requires a battery with the size H7-AGM, Group Size 94R, and a power of 850 cold cranking amps.
