The 2017 Chevy Impala runs fine on regular 87 octane gas. There isn't really a noticeable advantage to using premium, so stick with regular. Just make sure not to use anything lower than 87 octane as it can lower your fuel efficiency and possibly harm your car in the long run. If your vehicle has a yellow fuel cap or sticker by the fuel door, you can also use E85 or FlexFuel, which is eco-friendly and can have up to 85% ethanol. The manufacturer recommends using this option if your vehicle supports it.

I purchased a pre-owned 2017 Chevy Impala LT with 34,000 miles, and I noticed it had a yellow cap on the gas tank. I started using E85 fuel and initially the car ran well. However, a warning message popped up, mentioning something about the "stabilizer bar." I was frustrated and took it to the dealer where I bought it in 2019. They kept the car for four days and loaned me a 2020 Toyota Corolla, which ran smoothly. When I got my Impala back, it ran well for a day before the issue resurfaced. I returned to the dealer, they worked on it for four hours, and it seemed fine until it broke down on the highway. The dealer then sent it to another Chevy dealer and gave me another Corolla. I found myself liking the Toyota. Upon picking up my Impala, the problem recurred before I reached home. Feeling exasperated, I fueled up with regular unleaded gas at a gas station and strangely, the car has been running smoothly ever since.
