The 2014 Ford Focus requires regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or above. Avoid putting diesel or E85 into your vehicle as it could cause damage to the engine or fuel system. I suggest always using the highest octane fuel you can afford. A higher octane fuel burns more efficiently in the engine, reducing carbon buildup and decreasing the likelihood of engine knock. Look for top tier fuels with additives that break down sludge and promote engine longevity.
The "best answer" is very deceptive. A Ford Focus is able to utilize E85 ONLY when it is equipped with the 'flex fuel' badge and/or has a yellow bezel around the fuel inlet. The Focus has the ability to utilize fuels with higher octane ratings regardless of whether it is E85 rated or not. This information is according to the Ford Owners Manual, which is accessible at: https://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/2014-Focus-Owners-Manual-version-3_om_EN-US_03_2014.pdf
