There are multiple parts in the power steering system of a 2012 Dodge Challenger that may lead to issues. The power steering pump pressurizes the fluid, and damage to any hoses could result in them rupturing. You can easily spot this problem as there will be a pool of power steering fluid underneath the vehicle. While the car can still be driven, steering at lower speeds will become more challenging. Another reason for problems is a low fluid level, which is typically indicated by a loud squealing noise from the pump. To check the fluid level, simply open the hood and inspect the power steering fluid reservoir to ensure it falls between the Min and Max marks on the side.
If there are problems with the power steering pump in the 2012 Dodge Challenger, you may notice whining sounds when you attempt to turn the wheel, and you may experience difficulty turning it as well.
