If your Dodge Dart is experiencing any mechanical issues, the ECU will record a code and activate a check engine light on the dashboard. To retrieve the codes, you'll need to utilize an OBD II scan tool. If you encounter a U1504 code, it indicates an issue with the steering angle sensor. This sensor feeds information to the ECU regarding your steering angle by monitoring the steering column's rotation on your dashboard. A failing sensor might result in delayed steering responses, potentially creating hazardous driving conditions. If the light illuminates, you may also need to recalibrate the sensor.
What options do I have available?
I just experienced the same issue. I'm not sure how swapping out the battery would impact the steering angle sensor.
